Symbolic Ink Tattoo Studio

This was not my first tattoo but it was my first time in this shop and it was fantastic! Me and three other friends walked in and they got us in and out in a timely manner without feeling rushed! We used Chris and Tiffany and they were both awesome! It was a first tattoo for some of my crew and they took their time with them and talked them through every little thing, including nerves! My husband wanted a custom “fish taco” and they drew it up and made it happen! They do beautiful work! Fair priced as well! It felt clean and sanitary with a great atmosphere. This was the BEST tattoo experience I’ve ever had and we will all be back!

My son and I got tattoos while vacationing in Fort Morgan, Alabama. They were amazing! Chris, the owner, did both of our tattoos and he was awesome! They were super friendly and helped in every step of the process, from designing to the finished product! Chris is a true artist. I watched my son’s tattoo transform from a simple stencil into a work of art. Chris tattooed a beautiful 3D butterfly on my back/shoulder and I love it! His attention to detail is outstanding! I would highly recommend.

We came in while on vacation with our friends. Pasty and Chris helped my husband and I with our tattoo’s.They were both extremely attentive to detail, reviewing our inspiration photos to ensure a perfect match. We both had line work done. The lines are crisp and look great! I added a few pictures of what we had done. We are more than happy with the environment, the cleanliness, and customer service. Overall a 5 star experience, on top of the fact that we got awesome tattoos that look great!

My husband and I were in town from out of state for an anniversary trip and last minute decided to get tattoos. They fit us right in, no appointment. Chris was awesome! He did exactly what we wanted. My husband’s was partially a tattoo cover up and Chris made it look fantastic!

I went here and got my naval pierced and my sister also got her nose pierced, the whole experience was great. The woman who helped us was Patsy and she was so amazing and made it so chill. I was freaking out to begin with and she made the whole experience fun. The whole atmosphere of the shop was amazing and when I decided to get a tattoo I’m definitely coming back!

Alyssa and Tiffany did wonderful work on mine and my husband’s tattoos! They were very friendly and joked with us the entire time. Great vibes and a great experience!!

I came in with 4 other people that also got 1-2 pieces, and we all loved what we got. All the artists were so cool and easy to make conversation with. Brittney took care of me so well. It was also my first tattoo and it looks fantastic and the whole place was very sanitary which was a major concern for me. 10/10 would recommend.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! 6 girls and I went because we are on a bachelorette trip. Everyone was so welcoming and all the girls did so great on everyone. Tiffany did mine, I got a whale shark on my ribs and she talked me through it and it came out amazing!! We were all laughing and joking with the stylists. We all had a great time, and all of our tattoos came out AMAZING!!

Me and my family came in for a walk in and they were friendly and informative. Me and my mom got matching tattoos by Brittney, she was very quick and nice. Would recommend coming here.

My husband and I got tattoos a couple months ago and you can tell they were done by someone with little experience. We have both been to other shops since and had to have major corrections made. I wish we would have done a better job researching artists before coming here and we could have avoided basically paying twice. We also have been told by multiple other artists in the area we were grossly overcharged here. This place also has a really high credit/debit card fee while no one else has that.Based on the owner response I guess I should clarify that we were quoted a price and both tattoos were $50 higher (total of $100) more than what we were verbally quoted at the time of scheduling - we made no changes. The tattoos did look nice the first evening. After it was very clear there were blown lines on both and both ended up scaring in several spots. The artist was not consulted because after getting a consult for a totally unrelated tattoo and the poor quality of the previous ones being such a shock to the other shops artists it was rather embarrassing that we didn’t research our shop decision more diligently before we got them.

Myself and my brother in law got our tattoos done by Sixxx. He was very funny and was very detail oriented. He did a cover up for me and took my ideas and put his own spin on it while retaining the details I wanted. Great line work and great use of color. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Came down on vacation. Not only did they get my mom and self in fast, my artist Sixxx was fabulous, kind, patient and so talented! Highly recommend! The owner and all the other artist were there also, so helpful and polite! Made you feel welcomed and at home. Many of their tattoos and piercings that I seen done by all of them were awesome! A very clean environment! Soooo sooo happy with the whole setting and outcome. Will definitely be back!

I’ve been to Symbolic Ink twice so far. Everyone there is amazing, and the place is super clean. I love both of my tattoos that Ashton did for me, she is absolutely the sweetest artist I’ve ever had. Telan did my birth flowers in color and he did an amazing job,they are beautiful,the line work is spot on and the colors pop! He is a very nice person and is very talented! He took great care in what he was doing and gave me a great tattoo that I am proud of. Symbolic Ink was the best tattoo experience I have ever had. I went in for a cover up and to get a tattoo for both of my boys. We really liked an artist named Sixxx. My tattoo took WAAAAAYYYYYY longer than expected (no fault of theirs i had a really bad tattoo to cover). Six never missed a beat and before we knew it the sun was coming up and all three tattoos were done. The place was incredibly professional and clean. All the staff I dealt with were great (especially sixxx) I will be back for sure.

Yall listen okay, I came into this tattoo shop 2 weeks ago and this is by far THE BEST TATTOO SHOP IVE EVER BEEN TO. And I dont say that lightly, no they really are the best. The tattoo shop is so clean, like the cleanest tattoo shop Ive ever seen. When I called up there to just inquire about getting a tattoo, April was so sweet and so kind. And honestly, everyone was so nice, kind, and helpful. This place just has a great vibe about it. Josh is amazing and he is just incredible. He took the tattoo I wanted and just made it so much better. He realized now important it was to me because it was for in memory of sister. The colors look absolutely great on my skin tone because as an African American, you always have to wonder, will this color show up good on my skin tone. He made sure he picked colors he knew would show up on my skin and made suggestions on whats not going to show up good on my skin and I really and truly appreciated that. I can rant and rave about Josh all day, but, just trust me when I say, hes the best tattoo artist Ive ever had and I will definitely be coming to him for any and every tattoo I want in the future. My tattoo did not take long at all and he did such an amazing job on it. It looks absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be back and I have definitely told everyone how good of a tattoo shop this place is!!! I got my cartilage pierced a few years ago at Symbolic and just recently got two tattoos. They were my first tattoos and Josh made sure to walk me through everything for the tattoos and piercing which made me feel comfortable. 100% recommend this place

I popped in while on vacation thanks to other great reviews for this shop. Just wanted to get a simple souvenir tattoo and I couldnt be happier! I chose a cute flash piece from the wall, and the staff was very friendly getting me checked in. Ashton was also great, she has such a light hand and is very friendly and attentive even with just doing something so simple for me! Hoping to be back again next year and will certainly be stopping by for some new ink!

Loved this place for many reasons. My brother and I called one day to see about walk-ins and they were full for walk-ins for that day but told us when to come back. We came back when they told us to and it was super easy. They gave us the options of what we wanted for both of us. Our mom passed away in September and we wanted to take our mom into the new year with us so we got tattoos of our moms handwriting on New Year’s Day. It was very symbolic for us. We love this place and will def be going back for more tattoos.

I came in wanting my nose piercing jewlery changed because I wasn’t able to do it myself and I wasn’t even in there for 5 minutes before I was done. They have excellent and quick service!! I give them a 10/10

First tattoo experience. Great environment, super cool staff, very relaxing. but the work itself is very poor quality. My confidence walking in was higher than my confidence walking out. I immediately regretted my decision to get 3 small SIMPLE triangles drawn on my arm.Some time after this review the owner contacted me and kept his word. The next year we went on vacation he fixed our tattoos himself and gave us a credit for the mishap. I appreciate his generosity and will recommend his work for anyone.

Everyone was extremely nice and took however long we needed to draw out our designs. The owner did ours and his work is incredible!! I would travel back to him just to get them done again.

We went in to symbolic tat because of the amazing reviews and well tell ya now, they did not disappoint. From walking in April greeted us well and then listened to every thing we wanted to do. How she put everything together on the computer was great. Chad was the man, he was patient and had good insight during my tat, he had suggestions on adding or changing things right in the middle of the drill that were just good ideas. It was just an awesome experience to be worked on by him. If you have the chance to get there for some ink therapy take it.. Ashley did my girls tattoo and it came out just amazing. The time and attention to detail is next level. Her suggestions and ideas as well were so good. They genuinely seemed to be passionate and cared and had excitement about our whole experience. We were on vacation but they treated us like old friends.. highly recommend...

As soon as I walked in, I felt a very welcoming energy. Quickly went through the process of showing the tattoo I wanted and paying. Talon was my artist and he did an amazing job, with everything including making you feel comfortable to the tattoo itself. I 100% recommend coming here if interested in getting a tattoo, worth the money all the way.

We had an amazing experience at symbolic ink. our family was on vacation & decided we wanted tattoos since we are now all over 18. we had called places in gulf shores but no one had openings so we reached out to symbolic ink. we called & they said to come on in & see what we want. we came in & the women up front (april) was super helpful & gave us advice. we ended up having to wait almost 2 hours since it was a friday night & they were doing walk ins. we came in & drew up the stencils & signed health forms. my tattoo only took about 10 minutes & so did my fiancés. my brothers took about an hour & 15 min minutes since it was bigger & more detail. brittney tattooed my fiancé & i & she was super calm & did an amazing job! randy tattooed my brother & was very helpful & explained the whole process. i would definitely come again!

Got my first tattoo, age 56, at this place. Brittany was awesome. She walked me through everything and helped design the perfect tribute ink for my younger brother, who passed away from covid in 2022. It is perfect 🥰.

Everyone was so kind while I was getting a tattoo and also getting my daughters ears pierced. Patzee is amazing and Chris was very nice and professional.

My family and I were in town vacationing and decided I wanted to get my first tattoo. Decided on this place because they were open and accepted walk-ins. The young lady at the front desk was polite in the beginning and actually helped me decide on my simple designed tattoo. They weren’t crowded however they had about two artist on duty with a customer ahead of me so I didn’t mind waiting. After waiting for a little over an hour, I noticed they had put other customers that “looked like them” ahead of me that arrived long after I did and completely shrugged it off when I brought it to their attention. That was my sign to take my money to another establishment. I do not recommend this place especially if you’re AA solely based off that experience

My wife had wedding ring tattoos done and they are fantastic! The staff is extremely personable, helpful, and artistic. Looking forward to the next time we are back down in Gulf Shores and getting another one.

First off, this place is one of the friendliest shops I’ve been too. As a tourist, going into a tattoo shop in a city far away it can be intimidating, but I felt like I was at home here. I was a walk-in and so was my wife. We were in and out in 2 hours. Our artist “6” was one of the friendliest and most talented guys I’ve ever met. He did an amazing job. Went in with my 18 yr old son to get his first tattoo and I got one also with him. Talked with owner on the phone beforehand. He was very nice. Met owner when we walked in and schediled another tattoo in 2 weeks for today. But Josh did our tattoos. He did awesome work on both. I was nervous cause it was a big piece that was unexpected for the day and Josh just helped ease that and made it go smooth. Thank you guys for such good work and great customer service.

It was a pretty decent experience. It seemed a little pricy for the sizes we got but still reasonable. Something that is slightly concerning is that we got absolutely no information on aftercare nor did they cover it with any plastic protective film or wrap like most places do. I was expecting them to do that but they didn’t. Nothing on aftercare. But Randy did our tattoos as walk ins and he was very light handed. It was my first tattoo and I enjoyed the experience, but I might aim for a scheduled tattoo with consultation at another location in the future now that I know what I’m in for!

This place was fantastic. Me, my sister, and her boyfriend all came in as walk-ins. We each got tattooed by Carol, who was fantastic. She sat with us to size our designs properly and to make sure everything was perfect. All of our tattoos came out wonderfully and I’m so happy with the quality. The shop is great, they make you feel at home. Everything is nice and clean. Will definitely come back the next time we visit Alabama!

I have wanted my tattoo for years and had a sketch my niece had done but Telan made it happen! Everyone there was very friendly and the building was clean. I appreciate what they did for my nephew and me.

Six did my belly button piercing tonight & it did not hurt at all or even bleed! I was very impressed and what a fantastic guy he is to make time to do this for me as a walk in! He’s a boss when it comes to Peircing!I also had an appointment to have a tattoo with Ashton, who always does mine! As always she did an amazing job, virtually painless. All I had to do was provide her with a photo of the tattoo I wanted & she absolutely nailed it!!! Ran into some issues with another shop and Chris took on my 4 hours tattoo session with no problem last minute and gave me the most beautiful tattoo!He was kind and did such an amazing job for an affordable price! I had such a great experience at Symbolic Ink tattoo shop this past weekend. A group of friends and I were able to walk in and be assisted right away. Not only was the atmosphere fun and friendly but the front desk was able to customize my tattoo exactly how I wanted! I always appreciate a patient employee. Shout out to Chris Blake (tattoo artist) for the quickest and professional tattoos. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the Gulf Shores area!

Sixxx did a great job on my tattoo, very happy with his line work. Was not happy with price, was told $60 for something simple, my tattoo is the size of a quarter and was charged $80!

Came down for a girls trip! Wanted last minute small tattoos and Chris took us in! The people who work there are absolutely some of the nicest people I encountered in Orange Beach! We scouted out some other places that were recommended first and Symbolic was the top of the list! It was also one of the girls I went with first time and they took such good care of her. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

We were pierced by Arson and were so pleased with her work. We really appreciated her talking us through the process and she made us so comfortable. We will definitely be back. Everyone there was so friendly and highly professional!

The artwork online was amazing. My niece and I came down on vacation and decided to get a tattoo. Went on Thursday and was told that the only has one artist working. We were told to come back at 2 on Friday and they would have 4 artist available. I inquired about an appointment and again they said to come back at 2 the following day. We got to the shop before 2 and several people were waiting. When they got to us we were told it would be 3-4 hours and they would call us with a time. We also found out only 2 artists were taking walk ins. We have received no call and were told are place would be held. We are leaving tomorrow and very disappointed that we didn’t get our tattoo. My suggestion would be to not put walk ins welcome on your fb page and to ensure that during busy summer months you have enough artists:

My daughter and I went here on our vacation. The whole staff was awesome and made us feel welcome. Chris did an amazing job on my shoulder tattoo and carol rocked my daughters leg tattoo. They went the extra mile to make sure our tattoos were perfect and they are and we will be back. Also Anthony was very cool and helpful. He had interesting stories and great movie picks for the tv. So sorry for the late review, Chris.Chris (the owner) does such good work! Went by around 2:30pm Monday afternoon and told them what I wanted. Got a quote and left. Called them back and made an appointment for 7 that night. Got back to the shop around 6:30 and there were literally 25 or so people there waiting on tattoos and piercings. I did have to wait a while but it really wasnt a problem. All customers talked amongst ourselves and had a great time. Chris wife is such a sweetheart as well. Always smiling and talking to you like shes genuinely interested in what you have to say. Finally got called into Chris stall and got started. He did an amazing job. Clean, straight lines. Good conversation. And hes fast. What a great artist! I will definitely be back to see him.Update:Its been about 3 weeks since I got the tattoo. Unlike my other tattoos (gotten elsewhere in the past), thus one healed so well and doesnt have one single blank spot. All lines are still perfectly crisp and the black is still super black. I live 5 hours away but I will drive to Symbolic for every tattoo I get from now on! Cant wait to see you guys again.See pic for the tattoo Ive been talking about! 😁

My friend and I were on vacation down there and decided last minute to get a tat before we left. She researched the shops around there and decided based on there reviews and the beautiful art work that this was the place. They did not disappoint. Josh did both of our tats and did a beautiful job. Not only that but be was clean, polite, and fun in no way shape or form did either of us feel uncomfortable! Definitely 5 stars!!!!

Randy did an amazing job on my cover up. His love for tattooing is what really brought this piece together, and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Randy took his time, he was very precise, and his tattooing technique was light, steady, gentle, an on point. But what I loved the most were his ideas, and or visions, for this tattoo. The earthly realism of Randy’s characteristics is what makes an excellent tattoo artist.

Randy knocked our matching tattoos out of the park! He made sure to take his time and not rush the process! After finding out I had diabetes, he stopped a tattoo and did research to make sure I was good to go! He put a spin on the image we brought in and totally made the experience wonderful!! I hope to visit him again on my next trip!! You can tell he takes his job seriously and was very professional!!

I have many high name, high price tattoos from all over the USA. I stopped in today and got some name lettering, and Tattoo Tony killed it! Great line work! Can’t say enough good things about this place. I went to get an industrial piercing & was extremely nervous about how much it would hurt, but Brittany was absolutely amazing at keeping me calm & talking me through the entire process beforehand & during; her peppy attitude was contagious & she was finished in only a minute or two. The staff, from the girl who was working the front desk to all the guys doing the tattooing, were awesome—very down to earth & friendly. The facility was clean & everyone took the time to do proper sanitizing techniques. Great place, great people, & will be back for any other piercings or work I need in the future!

Love this place and all the people that work here! I’ve gotten the last three tattoos from here and some shade work on an older tattoo to bring it back to life. Carol is awesome at fine lines but the other guys are just as equally awesome. If you’re debating on piercings too, they rock at that also! Highly recommend.

This place is one of a kind. All the artist are amazing. Chris tattooed me, my husband, mother in law and father in law all in one night. Maddie tattooed my sister in law one night and she loved her so much she came back the next day and got another tattoo from Maddie. Also tony did a gorgeous/elegant cross on my other sister in law on her shoulder ( he is also like ninja he did it so quick). Early December we found out our cruise was going to be cancelled so we rearranged our vacation. We decided to come to Gulf Shores. Personally I’ve always been a spontaneous person so as us 4 girls were down here for vacation we knew a tattoo would be perfect. We may have bombarded Randy as he was prepping for a personal walk in and was the only artist at the shop, but he was more than willing to fit us in. Everything about the experience at Symbolic Ink was incredible. If we didn’t live 16 hours away, I would continue to visit the shop as I decided on more tattoos. Even down to the perfect detail of our tattoos, we were seriously so impressed and thankful.

I just moved into town recently, and have been looking for a new tattoo artist. I had a tattoo done there tonight by Tony. The tattoo is amazing, and he added his own creative touches to it. The color is vibrant and the lines are clean. He was light handed, and it wasnt rough to sit through at all. Very friendly people at the tattoo shop. I would highly recommend this shop and Tony.

My artist was SIXX and he was absolutely amazing. I was a walkin, told him what I wanted and had me come back in an hour so he could draw it up. 6 hours later I was done. We were visiting from out of town I went for my first tattoo, I forgot the young lady’s name but she down a awesome job and made it as comfortable as she could. My son and nephew got another tattoo and knew exactly what they wanted down to the rare color Tony done an awesome job and the detail of the Indian head was awesome! I couldn’t be happier that I chose this place for my latest tattoo! Carol did an Amazing job, and she has mad computer skills! I was fully expecting to be told to come in the next day for the work, since it was kinda late when we walked in, but she went right to work and even stayed past closing time to finish. That kind of customer service is rare these days, and highly commendable! The only question is, do I make extra trips to the beach to get my tattoos, or do I make extra trips for tattoos and stop by the beach?

I came in today as a walk-in for my first tattoo. I showed Tony a picture of what I wanted and he created a personalized tattoo just for me! I was a little nervous about it, but Jackie and Tony made me feel comfortable. Tony handled my tattoo with care and I felt very little pain. He walked me through several steps of how to help my tattoo heal to make sure I understood. My tattoo turned out beautiful and it is so meaningful to me. I highly recommend Tony for your next tattoo! My husband and I will be back.

Great experience here. Tony did killer work on my forearm tattoo. Its been a couple weeks now and it still looks just as good as the day it was done after most of the healing. Also one of the cleanest shops Ive ever been into.

Did a good job on our tattoos, took a long time for them to get ready to do them. We had three small tattoos done and were there for over 5 hours. The young lady that did them was very polite and professional, very clean. Would recommend them if you are not in a hurry.

I was definitely surprised given all of the good reviews, but if you’re super picky about the line work and quality of your tattoos, this is not the place to go. If it’s something simple & easy, it’s not a bad place to get a tattoo. But if you want something in depth with great detail, they just aren’t capable of delivering it. I paid $300 for a tattoo that barely looks like the sketch the artist based it off of. I seldom leave negative reviews, but I find it necessary to let others know so they won’t have to go to another shop and pay more to fix what they get done at symbolic ink. (I’ve since talked to numerous locals and they said they definitely could’ve warned me not to go here if they knew I was trying this place out)

Got a birthday tattoo here a few weeks ago and it was by far the best experience and best tattoo i have. sixx did an absolute amazing job and i definitely will be goin back for more.

I got my cartilage pierced and the lady that did it was super patient and sweet. I never got her name but she had short blonde hair and black glasses. There were a good bit of people waiting when we came but we did not wait long at all. I will definitely be going back here to get my second cartilage! Also it was not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be.

We thought Tony went above and beyond what we had come to expect from a tattoo artist. We are from Arkansas and we both have several tattoos. This guy not only talked with us on a personal level he made us feel comfortable & at ease with our experience in getting a couples tattoo !
