Shanghai Tattoo is the absolute BEST! From customer service to quality of work. Josh up front is the friendliest and always super helpful when booking appointments and answering questions. I saw Ting for a pretty good size tattoo and she drafted up the design really quickly with great understanding of exactly what I wanted. I had some ideas of placement that wouldn’t work with how my leg bends, it would have distorted the image. She was able to create the look and placement I wanted with a few modifications that make it look perfect even when my leg is bent which is very hard to accomplish. She killed it.She works quickly and uses perfect heaviness with her tattooing machine. She is incredibly talented and made me feel really comfortable the whole time.The amount of respect and kindness I received from everyone in this shop is unmatched. I recommend Shanghai to anyone looking for a quality tattoo by amazing people. My favorite is Ting but I’ve followed the shop for years and they don’t have any bad artists come through so I would trust anyone in the shop with my next piece. If I could give more than stars I would!

Ting is an absolutely amazing artist, true professional, and just fun to work with. I was lucky enough to be referred to her by my brother who also had a remarkable experience & tattoo design that I was super impressed by. Got work done by Ms. Ting and I just had to leave a review because compared to the experience and work I’ve got done by other tattoo artists. She is very kind and understanding person with her customers, even told me to message her with my heal progress and see if anything would be wrong which no artist I’ve been to so far has ever done. Regarding that her work is perfect, I came in expecting something good and what I got was even better than expected. The only thing I’m disappointed in is myself for not preparing a tip big enough for what these guys have done. Love the work guys, was completely worth the 3 hour drive.

My wife and I love this place! We’ve gotten work done with Nic and Gabriel and they were both so great and welcoming and their work is incredible. On top of all of that, the new studio space is so great! What a special place this shop is. 10/10 would recommend!!!

I came to Shanghai Tattoo because I had a tattoo from another artist I wasnt happy with and a friend recommended them. Right away, I was impressed with the communication style of Josh who was the first to help me. When I met Ms. Ting I could tell she was a true artist by the way she helped me begin to come up with ideas for how to upgrade my existing tattoo. Tala was the artist I worked with on the piece itself. He was gentle and my tattoo turned out to be beautiful, thanks to both Ms. Ting and Tala. I feel very satisfied with the service, communication and especially the work of the artists & owners. Thanks to all of you for helping me create something special & unique.

I went to Ms Tings recently to get some jewlery changed out by their piercer, Camilla. She has done all of my cartillage piercings and always does an exceptional job! I keep coming back to her and reccomending to her everybody because she is so trustworthy. Ive heard lots of piercing horror stories, and experienced some myself, but never with Camilla. She is kind and professional and she really cares about what she does. Her jewlery is always the best quality and is absolutely stunning! I always have a hard time choosing new pieces because they are all so cool! Shes worth it every time! The shop is really cool too! Ive only been there a handful of times but the atmoshpere is incredible.

So happy with my recent tattoo. i had some old work i needed redone, with the addition of some spectacular new work from Ms. Ting. met my expectation and more. Freindly staff, and great vibe in the shop. will be returning for more soon.

This was my first tattoo and I searched for years to find an artist who truly understood the concepts of Asian traditional art. Ms. Ting is so skilled and such a cool person to talk with too. The tat was designed after talking with me about the concept I had in mind and was far better than I had even imagined it. Since it was a full sleeve, a lot of the work was free-hand and you would never know it! I will return for future ink!!

After seeing Ms. Tings dog portrait portfolio, I knew she was the right artist for a tattoo of my beloved pup. And after getting the first one done, I couldnt stop there. I plan to get all my pets done by her. She recently finished my second and I already have an appointment in the books. I cant say enough amazing things about her work. They are immaculate and she is so dang quick. Zero complaints from me. I think she really is the bright green hidden gem of Folsom. Ive also looked at the portfolios of the other artists in her shop. They all seem really solid, which I wouldnt expect any less based on the standard Ting sets.4/29 update - Ive now got 4 lovely pet portraits. Theyve all healed so nicely. Just look how precious!! 😻

I had the honor of getting a tattoo done by Ms.Ting @ her original Shanghai studio in 2015. The reason behind me getting this tattoo was extremely significant and I wanted to make sure I found only the most awesome & talented artist. I told myself If I could not find the right fit, I would just accept not getting the work done. Upon entering the Shanghai Tattoo Studio there was an immediately welcoming vibe in the air. Very hip, creative and professional. I could feel every artist in the studio was extremely passionate about their work. After looking around at all the awesome in this studio, I sat down with Ms. Ting to discuss my idea. She was so chill and confident, telling me what would work and what wouldnt in part with using her own creative spark to bring everything to the next level. I knew immediately she was the perfect artist! I could go on and on with this story but I feel you get my point. Hands down Ting is best artist I have ever come across and I feel proud and honored to have a tattoo done by her. To this day it still looks so clean and has not faded in the slightest. I am confident that any artist that Ting brings aboard is also very talented. I am so happy for Ting & Joshua, its beautiful what they have created. If you are looking to get a tattoo on the west coast, or even in the USA for that matter I would 100% recommend Ting. She is so LIT. Beautiful shop love the aesthetic. The owners were awesome and made you feel welcome, it did not feel like a cool guy contest in this tattoo shop. They also have some very talented artists working here definitely go check the shop out. I was tattooed be Levi Miller, I wanted something pretty weird and he drew it up exactly as I wanted it and tattooed it perfectly had a great experience.

Decided to get my lower sleeve done here after looking at the work that Ting does. It was the best decision. I initially got things moving with Josh Thompson who is awesome to work with for scheduling and dialing things in for the staff. Ting is extraordinarily professional and her artwork is amazing. She is worth every penny I paid to get it done. I even flew out from Portland, OR twice in order to have it completed in two sittings. The entire experience was very comfortable and I couldn’t be happier without the end result. I would rate them even higher if I could.

This is the ONLY place I’ll go the get my tattoos done! It’s very clean, the staff is great, and very inviting! Ms Ting did a stellar job on my tattoos! She has freehanded a couple of pieces on my and I couldn’t be happier. Her artistic eye is out of this world 👽! Ting and all the artists at Shanghaitattoo in Folsom are amazing artist! I remember when I was looking to get my leg sleeve done I knew I found perfect artist, but was sadden to see Ting only had a shop in Shanghai. A few months later she opens a new shop 20 minutes from me in California and knew I had to go. She did an amazing job doing my family’s Chinese zodiacs and I couldn’t be happier. The whole experience was great from the shop, the people, and the art work itself. It’s been about 6 months since she finished my leg sleeve and it’s healed great. I’ve been trying to come by the shop to give them some healed photos, but have been super busy. Hopefully, when I do come by we can get those photos taken and discuss about getting more work done, if she’s not booked🤞

Ms. Ting was incredible! During my consultation she hand drew the Chinese calligraphy that would go on my back along my spine and around my shoulder blades and was able to accurately capture the beauty of the piece by using her own traditional style of Chinese brushstroke calligraphy. Highly recommend going to Shanghai Tattoo 916! They really listen to what you want your tattoo to look like and they create it so beautifully.

Tough to put into words the experience we had at Ms. Ting’s Shanghai Tattoo. It was a very emotional and sensitive time for my wife and I as she got a memorial tattoo for our son who recently passed away. Christian Urias was particularly responsive to her ideas and created and absolute beautiful piece of artwork on her arm. We are extremely grateful that this shop is in our town and their care and professionalism was so appreciated. We will return for more work very soon.

She is the best artist. The detail is unbelievably awesome. Every time someone sees my tattoo it’s the same reaction (omg wow who did this?) not only is the work 2nd to none she’s an awesome person too. Awesome vibe in the shop. Josh is awesome too. I highly recommend anyone to get their piece done here. I’m from Santa Rosa and drove 164 miles to get mine done. It’s so worth it. Can’t wait to get started on my full back piece

Ting is an amazing artist, and the only one I would recomend. over the passt years she did 6 of my 8 tattoos as well as several tattoos for my friends and i regret that I did not do all with her.The lastet tattoo was a portrait of my dad, which looks 100% like him. My family and friends are still shocked to see how real his smile is..and it make me happy to look at him every day. Thank you Ting 😊

Both Ting and her staff are awesome people. her work is absolutely amazing. she is one of the best that ive ever seen. i highly recommend her. she a little more expensive, and has a long waiting list, but it is worth it.

I followed her work on Instagram since she was in Shanghai. I admired the beauty, detail, and realism in her art. When I happened to be in Folsom, I stopped by and visited the shop. We talked about the design I was thinking, it was sketched out and I was quoted the price. The price was higher than I had expected but well worth the cost once it was finished. The shop is clean, welcoming, and knowledgeable with lots of art for ink-spiration.I was covering an old tattoo on my upper arm with a half sleeve. The original tattoo did not have a great deal of personal meaning and the tattoo was not highest quality. I had not had any ink done in ten plus years. Over three sessions, May 17th, June 7th and June 28th, I watched the old tattoo disappear. I would come the shop in the afternoon, usually having better luck finding parking just before noon. I spent about three to four hours in the chair for each session.The tattoo is AMAZING! I love the artwork she inked onto my arm. I now have a beautiful, meaningful piece of art to show off and carry with me.

Christian Urias recreated a personal sigl for me with outstanding results. He took a crude illustration and brought it to life. Done with precision, delicately shaded, timely execution. Ive waited over 25 years for artistry! Well done.

I went in to get a tattoo that incorporated a sun and an aries head. Christian took my original idea and made it a hundred times better. Everyone there is really cool, the place is very clean, and most importantly they do great work.

Quick, easy, and very understanding. Listened to exactly what I wanted and just ran with it. Facility was really nice and clean, I will definitely be coming here a lot and recommend it to anyone who is looking. Yes their wait times are long but you have it for life so just be patient; its worth the wait.
