Grace has done all 5 of my tattoos and for a REASON! I give her a concept or picture and tell her to put her own spin on it and I am never disappointed. She’s so easy to talk to and super flexible if you want the placement or design to change, and overall she’s such a sweet person and incredibly talented artist. She shares my enthusiasm when it’s finished and I love knowing my artist loves my piece as much as I do and not just for the money. Highly recommend going here!! The atmosphere is amazing. This is a great shop- it’s clean and has a stellar vibe. The owner Dennis is professional and goes out of his way to take care of his staff and customers. Great Shop. I went on my birthday to get my first tattoo and it was quick and almost painless (for me). I was a little scared but the guy that did mine was great and patient! I highly recommend this place.

I’m not sure why so many people are leaving bad reviews for Rikki because I had a great experience with him! Very chill and talented artist and I was in and out in twenty minutes. Front desk person was also very friendly. My only gripe with the place is that the waiting area isn’t super spacious.

I came here about 8 months ago for two tattoos. I got one behind my ear and it’s already faded. I spent nearly 400$ for two small tattoos so I expected better.

I absolutely LOVE my tattoo Billy did for me last week! It’s exactly what I wanted, size is perfect & he did a great job coping my daughters handwriting!! Misty was great helping me over the phone & was super nice to call me & let me know I could come in sooner if I wanted. They were awesome to work with & now I want another one & I’ll definitely go back to them!!

My husband and I got Billy to do our tattoos here for our first time. The experience was great and Billy had great playlist while we got our tattoos! We will definitely be back 😊

This place is my favorite. Not only is it so close to where I live, they never fail to make my tattoos look amazing. My artist is Billy and I have gotten all of my tattoos there. The amount of detail he is able to do and to not charge a ridiculous amount is great. Also everyone is so welcoming there!

Billy was my artist and was very knowledgeable about what design would work best and where it would be best to put it. I originally had a different design and placement in mind,but the design required too many details to be legible where I wanted it, so i went with another design i wanted and changed the placement. The pricing was very fair for the size and complexity of the tattoo (tiny lines) and it took 2 sessions to get everything finished and I love it so much. Everyone was very kind,the shop is nice and clean and you can tell they enjoy what they do. I will definitely be back.

Would rate this place 10 stars if I could. Jesse Sherman is an amazing artist. Took my concept and absolutely blew my mind on design and execution. The tattoo shop it self is attached to a piercing studio, both sides are very clean and all staff is very approachable. My wife has now had 2 tattoos done here and I have now have switched to come here. The host at the front desk is wonderful, and couldn’t be happier with how the tattoo turned out. If you’re looking for a studio with great artists who are easy to talk with and have some stellar work look no further than steel paintbrush!

First tattoo EVER! I was very nervous going into a tattoo shop as I’ve never had one before. Caroline Dalton was so friendly and honestly the best person I could have gone with. She’s very beginner friendly, patient, and honest! Love her so much! Got a little (~1in) red heart on my side for $80!

Absolutely amazing! I was nervous about my first tattoo in nine years and they helped me calm down. They even suggested things to help with pain as I have a low pain tolerance. Jesse is a Phenomenal artist! He talked with me throughout the whole session. The tattoo is my favorite so far and I cant wait for my next session to do the branch behind the cheshire cat. I can not suggest/recommend this place enough!

I had a stick and poke tattoo that I needed covered up. I was weary of how much it would hurt, if I picked the right person, the Environment as I had never had a professional tattoo. Billy met me with a smile and 100% listening ears so I could get what I WANTED. He went above and beyond making sure I was comfortable and happy long before he ever started tattooing me. My flowers are EXACTLY how I asked and I can’t even see the prior tattoo his job was amazing. My second tattoo(done same day) was my husbands hand writing of “I love you” when I tell you the writing was exact and perfect I’m dead serious. I enjoyed my conversation with Billy and I am overly thrilled about my beautiful tattoos he did. I would recommend him 100x over and anybody that wants care,compassion, and listing ears at this place will meet you with thrill to tattoo you, how you want. I can’t express how wonder the place is and how Billy is a fantastic artist. ❤️

Walked through the door and was greeted immediately by a friendly and welcoming guy--Dennis. Everyone was super friendly and inviting. I am overly picky and Dennis was so patient and kept redrawing my tattoo to make it perfect. Which is awesome because some artists arent so nice when you ask them to change their work. He is the opposite. Not sure how they have even one bad review, maybe from someone whos not happy with themself because the staff was great. The shop is clean, we couldve been there for hours and I wouldnt have minded because we had some great conversations while getting our work done. Dennis is definitely a people person. Theyre reasonably priced. And theyll definitely let you know if something will turn out good or if it wont before they put it on your body. If you want an honest & great experience. This is the place! Ill be back!

Hoping to steer everyone I can away from this place. I went in for some simple work. To go over some existing lines on a tattoo that Ive had for 20+ years. The job was simple. I wasnt expecting a miracle. Just to pay for an hour of work to let an artist do as much as possible in that hour and then maybe come back and do more once it healed until the whole piece was done. Shouldnt be too difficult, right? The first artist refused to do it stating it wasnt his style. OK??? Really!? Last time I checked, the best artists could handle any style not just the ones they wanted to do. The next artist proceeded to insult my tattoo and tell me nothing could be done. Probably dodged a bullet on him too, because he only had one good eye. Not to knock people who have one eye, but when I get tattooed, I want the artist to be able to see properly. I put out a harsh critique on Yelp and they responded by continuing to insult me. They clearly cant handle the criticism and doubled-down on their efforts to insult me. So if this is the type of behavior you want from a business, then by all means head on in to this place. If you want to be treated with respect, then go somewhere else like I did. I got exactly what I wanted from another studio with no insults. This place is lame. The staff were jerks. I gave them the finger as I walked away. I couldnt help myself I was so upset. Probably didnt help that the place was dirty either. Some poor girl was getting work done when I walked in. She was sitting there topless with no privacy. I had no interaction with that artist, but the studio I went to afterwards had booths with curtains to draw that would give the customer as much privacy as they wanted. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these jerks as possible. Just look at how they respond to the negative reviews here and itll tell you all you need to know. They blame the customer 100% of the time and take no accountability. Hopefully youll read this before heading in. Im sure the owner will respond to me with blame and itll be my fault too. Get real!

Visiting from Canada and came here for a tattoo with two of my friends who were getting their first tattoos.One keyword youll see from the other reviews is how clean the place is and I can confirm that - its a beautiful place, very clean and very professional and if youre nervous about getting a tattoo this is a great place to go as it will be immediately reassuring.My artist was Rik and he did an excellent job. Very pleasant to talk to, light handed, and I was very happy with my tattoo. Thanks Rik!Also want to mention Chris. My friend who was getting her first tattoo was still unsure in regard to placement/size of it. He took the time to go over everything with her and answer her questions and offer her advice. Tonight was my second time at The Steel Paintbrush and I’m so happy with my new tattoo! I showed Billy some pictures of what I was looking for, and the work he did was exactly what I wanted. The studio is super clean, and the front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Highly suggested!

First time getting inked at Steel Paintbrush and had a fantastic experience. From the time I walked in to the time I left, with my tattoo, this is definitely my spot for my future tattoos.Dennis did an amazing job and would highly recommend him. I love this shop! I just started going there after my previous one had shut down due to COVID. I live in Frisco so it is super convenient and very clean. Robert has done all of my work and is fantastic, super efficient and does impeccable work. The tattoos are spot on what I bring in that I want, perfectly spaced apart and amazing color (Im working on a Disney sleeve). I dont care how much it cost, for the amount of work and quality of what he gets done in an hour does not compare to anywhere else. Cant wait to go back this weekend for my next piece!

From the moment we walked in to the minute we walked out after our tattoos were completed we had a wonderful experience. The owner Dennis greeted us, was welcoming, helped us decide on tattoos, font etc & set us up with an appointment the next day. I have been to many tattoo parlors & not one was as clean as this one, nor was the staff as friendly. I work in the customer service industry and see so many poor examples when walking into businesses. It was refreshing to see not just an employee but an owner and his entire staff exemplify good customer service. Our tattoos were done efficiently and to precise detail. Dennis talked to us the entire time and made us feel at ease. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. I will be coming back in the future for more work.

UPDATE! UPDATE!Talked with Dennis and we worked everything out. I couldn’t be happier and is a great shop owner. I have a better understanding how pricing was worked out so no problem there. Chris did a great job touching up a few tattoos and understood where I was coming from and why the original review was written. 5 stars well earned!Original review below.....This place is the most expensive shop I have seen and the quality is pretty bad. Having fading problems one and another tattoo is off center. They have a unique way of making issues feel like it’s your fault which is really bad for a customer service type place. If you know someone there you’re probably okay but walking in off the street be prepared to spend a lot of money and feeling disappointed. I hate giving bad reviews but sometimes you have to unfortunately. It’s probably a good shop overall we just got an artist that shouldn’t be dealing with new customers. It sucks because the location is perfect for Frisco and Little Elm folks.

I had a wonderful experience at Frisco Tattoo Shop. Dennis is the guy who did the most beautiful artistic piece on my hip. Not only he is wonderful artist but he was very careful with his technique. Cleaning his whole work area and making sure that everything was safe for his client.Great attitude and smile, he will make you feel very welcomed! The whole place was very neat, clean and inviting. I am over a half of a century years old and never thought I would get a tattoo, not because I have any negative biases against people who have them, but because this would be a permanent marking on my body that I would have to live with for the rest of my life. After much thought I decided to get one that has a very meaningful message and reminder for me. (I mention this because it was such a major decision for me). I walked into the door and was greeted by Dennis who happens to be the owner and whom my appointment was with. He could tell that I was extremely nervous and immediately put my mind at ease. He made sure that the design was exactly what I wanted and did an amazing job in executing my beautiful work of art. Great place to get a high quality tattoo. The staff is friendly and laid back. Dennis has done a lot of my work and he is extremely talented. He is great with consulting you on designs and placement. I would highly recommend this place whether it’s your first tattoo or your looking add more.

I cant say enough great things about this place! Its been awhile since my last tattoo, and I didnt have a local shop to go to. I also wanted something small and was afraid that I wouldnt be treated as a priority. That was so not the case here! Not only were all the staff welcoming, but the owner Dennis made my husband and I feel as though we were his only focus. We laughed, shared stories, and he was very patient and listened to exactly what I wanted. His place was clean (loved the artwork) and they welcomed everyone heartily when they came in. The finished look, while simple, was exactly what I had been looking for and I couldnt be happier. This is the place you want to go

It was my first time at this shop today and it was a great experience all around. Everyone working was attentive and ready to answer any questions I had, it was very clean, everyone was in accordance with wearing face masks, and it was overall a great environment to get a tattoo. I went here for a small walk in piece, wait time wasn’t too bad, pricing was a little higher than I was used to and I was hesitant at first but made the choice to go for it anyway, especially since they’re one of if not the only shop open in the Frisco area doing walk ins right now, and once my tattoo was done it was worth every penny! I’m so happy with my piece and they definitely earned a returning client.

The artist did an amazing job with my watercolor tattoo! I have never been more proud of a tattoo that I have gotten and I have 5! I am switching and will only use them moving forward! The atmosphere was comfortable and the artists have a variety of different specialties!! Its close to home, and for something that will be on me forever I am elated with the work I got done!!

This was my first time coming here, and Ill definitely be back! Robert Wingo was my artist and he couldnt have made me feel more comfortable (aside from the obvious standard pain that comes with getting a tattoo). Staff was incredibly nice and chill. My tattoo came out beautifully, I am very pleased.

Robert was my tattoo artist and he did a great job. I showed him what i wanted and he drew it out before he started it on me. He was very nice and careful. I got an anchor with seahorse on my ankle. The place was very clean and sterile etc. If u ever want a tattoo ask for Robert. I was there in November of last year. He told me if i have any questions is to contact him by his cell and he answered all of my questions.

I had only 2 prior small tattoos and first was in 1991. Had one under 3 yrs ago on forearm that I am having it removed. Was thinking to get covered up but both owner and Rikki stated I would not just be able to cover up a black tattoo with other colors. Long story short ended up getting three tattoos from Rikki in 3 days. Even thought I had gone crazy!He is really proffesional and was honest and way more enjoyable than I thought possible. Third one I got was way bigger than I thought I would ever get but was needed to cover up nearly 30 yr old tattoo. I have nothing but praise for Rikki as an artist. One of the drawings I had sent him he made few personal changes to it and turned out better than my expectations. I will recommend this place and Rikki to ANYONE who is looking to get a tattoo in this area.Also his music while getting worked on is special!😃

Steel Paintbrush is definitely the place to go for getting ink done the shop is always clean and the staff are very knowledgeable and freindly. Dennis has been working on my sleeve from the beginning as well as a few other tattoos and I have absolutely no complaints hes does awesome work and takes the time to listen to you and goes over everything well in advance of getting the work done. My wife and a buddy of mine has also had work done by Dennis and they are both extremely happy with the work. We highly recommend them!!

Professional, friendly and extremely talented tattoo artists! The environment is friendly and welcoming. I felt completely comfortable here, the artists were so much fun and did a fantastic job on my tattoos as well as my husbands. We will definitely be returning!

Everything was great on my initial visit & the artist, Billy, was very personable. Later I needed a touch up & was told there’d be no charge. I waited a month & scheduled an appointment. A couple of weeks later they called to reschedule because my appointment was on a holiday. I called 2 days before my rescheduled appointment to cancel & the recording said, don’t leave a message.” When I went to my second rescheduled appointment I was told since I didn’t cancel there would be a $70. fee. I asked why I was booked on a holiday in the first place & was told their calendar doesn’t have holidays listed, that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of that. I said it wasn’t right for them to charge me & I said I just go somewhere else & they simply said okay. They didn’t even attempt to work something out, which in my opinion would’ve been appropriate seeing as how we both had been inconvenienced. Evidently my time isn’t as important as theirs. Overall my experience wasn’t what I expected & I’m disappointed in their customer service.

I must have got one of the artist on a bad day. I messaged someone about trying to surprise my husband with a tattoo and whoever was answering my messages was definitely not the same person I spoke to at the shop. Whoever I spoke to at the shop seemed as if I was bothering him with my questions. With each question the same “make an appointment” response was given. I made an appointment with the understanding that I could receive a draft of the drawing before my appointment. I emailed requesting the draft of the drawing before my appointment and received no response. I will look for another shop with better customer service to help me with my gift.

Amazing experience. I came in for my first tattoo. Robert was my artist. I came in wanting my dads handwriting from the last couple of cards that were given to me before he passed away. I got the tattoo on the back of my left shoulder. Robert literally made it look like my dad wrote on my skin. I could not have asked for a more perfect experience. I cannot thank him enough for this. When I am ready for my second tattoo, I will definitely come back and see Robert.

Edit to response: Instead of asking probing questions to help YOU, you kept telling me to come in which Id already explained I cant do. So...Im sure their work is good as they were recommended to me by 3 different people. However if you cant give someone an estimate, even to say itll start at this price, based off exact information theyre giving you then it sounds like you just want people to come in so you can talk them into things. No thank you.I have 4 tattoos and my previous place I was always able to email them details and theyd give me a starting point if anything. Ive moved so I was looking for someone closer, but Id rather drive back the 2 hours to get what I need.

I just got my first tattoo today. I had the pleasure of working with Robert. He was very nice and helped ease me into the whole process. I can gladly say the whole ordeal was very pleasant; if I decide that I will want more in the future, I will definitely come back.

Chris is the actual best. I came in with a dinky drawing I found on the internet that same day and he told me no, he didnt want to do it. This was hard for me to hear because I was set on getting the tattoo on that date in specific, but Ive had tattoos removed so I knew he was right. He told me to think about what I really wanted on my body and we ended up scheduling for 2 weeks later. He drew a tattoo that I love and will love for the rest of my life, and then he drew some more. Currently we are 2/3 done with a back piece that came out of that first session. I am proud of my tattoos now and I still trust Chris to tell me when something wont look good. I will never think of tattooing the same way. I am forever thankful for that day 8 months ago when Chris changed the pattern I didnt even realize I was stuck in by caring enough about a complete stranger enough to say no. If you are looking for the best ask for Chris. If you are nice he might even agree to make some beautiful and worth while art on your body.

I’ve got a ton of tattoos and before I met these folks at this great place, I got tattoos just whereever it was convinient. My last 10 or so tats have been at this place and I will never go anywhere else. The people are nice, the shop is clean and the atmosphere is comfortable. But most important are the fare prices and consultative approach they take to educate you on placement and look. Top notch establishment. I highly recommend it whether it’s your first or you are a regular.

Awesone, got my first tattoo today from Rikki and it was great, super patient and i almost passed out and they gave me a lollipop and water for my blood sugar, great service and i 100% recommend. will be going back at some point

We had a great time! We had a group of people getting matching tattoos and every one loved the finished product! My mom loved the guy who did her tattoo. She said Jesse was amazing!I got my conch pierced and it was by far the best piercing experience Ive had and for reference I have gone to 4 different places to get pierced and this is the first place I would actually go back to!

Honestly I will NEVER GO BACK I did a walk in and asked for a dog paw it wasn’t even close to what I asked for. I wish I could insert the pictures. I went to a different place the same day named dark age tattoos in Denton. Bless those people. Even gave me a discount cause they felt bad on how it was before.Wrong. The artist used a bic pen ?? So who knows if it smudged off while he was whipping it was completely different than what was drawn and I said it was okay because I DO NOT want him messing it up any further. So I went somewhere else. Thanks

The people/atmosphere were nice but way overpriced for a small simple tattoo, I should have asked prior to them running my card so its partly my fault.

Very overpriced. I got a very small tattoo that cost $100 and it wasn’t even that good. I did get a much bigger and better tattoo somewhere else later on only for $80. Not the best artist. Clean environment and all but I would recommend somewhere else.

Dennis was awesome! I got my mom’s favorite flowers on my left ribs. He let me take several breaks since it was super painful. He also re did my original design that I had wanted and made it 10x better. He is awesome!

I show up at 1255 to be the 3rd person in line and very quickly the line increases to 13 people its then 1258 and rather then open a few min early to handle the customers that chose to come to their store rather than any place else they decide to wait till exactly 1:00 to open the doors...how am I supposed to believe you want my business when you choose to stand around talking rather then open 2 min early to get you customers money?
