Been getting my tattoos here for the last couple years. The artist I get mine from is Danielle (goes by Mean Teeth Tattoo). But I have seen the work of all the artists there and it is all very good! There is a style for everyone there. Every artist is also very friendly no matter who is tattooing you. Highly recommend Blue Gem to anyone looking for a quality tat done by some cool people 👌🏽

I get my tattoos done by learra. She is absolutely amazing! Love everything about her vibe. I love bringing inspiration pics in and having her put a twist on them! She is always professional. I have gotten multiple tattoos from her n havent been disappointed! She is great at what she does! I recommend all my family and friends to her.

I have been going to this tattoo shop for over 2 years now, and my artist has always been Learra. She is so professionally when setting up the initial tattoo and seeing your vision. She has succeed my expectations far more than I could imagined with my tattoos. She has a vibe all set up for you to have the most relaxing experience possible. She provides a laptop with multiple streaming devices for you to pick from to watch and just hang out. Or you can totally bring your own and dive deep into thought. The room was clean and very well put together. All around great experience. I have recommended multiple friends and family to get them. My Mama and I actually got a matching tattoo from her and we love them!! Thanks again Learra for bringing your spin on our ideas. You rock!!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I am heavily tattooed and have worked with multiple artists. I am extremely hesitant to try new artists/shops. My first experience at the Blue Gem was with Learra Rose. I knew exactly what I wanted coming in. I had a reference picture. Needed a deposit of $100, which is normal. I got my tattoo October 17th 2023. I had a touch up scheduled for March 30th 2024, LESS THAN 6 months apart. This has been the first time I have ever requested/needed a touch up so far in my tattoo journey. There’s faded lines, blow outs, & it just looks janky. I reached out to schedule. Learra stated the first touch up is free. She offered me one appt time, I immediately took that one. March 30th Saturday at 5PM. I wanted it done, I’d make it work. I also live an hour away from the shop. When I showed up for the initial appt, I resent her the reference photo. She started drawing on her pad, I waited. This is where things get a little weird in my opinion, maybe some red flags that I looked past. Learra came out and showed my what she came up with. It was NOTHING like the reference photo. Totally different style, vibe, etc. It was nowhere near what I was looking for, which I had already expressed. The second I saw it, I had a gut wrenching feeling. I explained I wanted it like the reference photo. Learra stated, she was unable to do it exactly like the photo, bc she could get sued. First time I’ve ever had an artist say that, with a reference photo, and with permission from the artist of the reference photo. It felt extremely uncomfortable and tense. It was pulling teeth to get the tattoo that I’m paying for the way I wanted it. She finally made the necessary changes and I gave the go ahead. There was really no conversation, minimal small talk. Learra played a movie on an iPad, and started tattooing. It felt like she did that so she wouldn’t have to talk. Just weird/awkward vibes. I’ve never had an artist do that before, ever. She did the outline first and then we decided to add a little color. I remember Learra asking about the Jack-O-Latern in my tattoo. She asked how I wanted it colored. I said “an orange pumpkin with black details” aka an orange colored pumpkin, with a black nose, eyes etc a typical Halloween pumpkin. She said okay. After she was done. I saw the pumpkin. It was the complete opposite, a black pumpkin with orange details. I was in shock at that point, and had no choice but to learn to love it. It was already so awkward and tense, I did not say anything about it. I honestly just wanted to pay & leave. When we were done Learea proceeds to ask me, “When did we start tattooing?” As if it was my job to keep track of that? Is that not something the artist should be aware of? This whole situation was not sitting right with me AT ALL. I had a general idea but was still unsure. So she guesstimated and gave me a price. It was more all together than what we originally discussed. But whatever I guess, I understand things change when you’re tattooing, but nothing was communicated with me. I paid, still tipped, and left. Fast forward to February 24 2024 when I reached out about a touch up. At 1PM day of the appt, she pushes my 5PM appt back to 6PM. No problem. As I previously mentioned I live over an hour away from the shop, so I was in town by 4PM. I ran some errands & wanted to be timely, as everyone’s time is valuable. I get another message at 4:45PM. 1 hour before my appt that she had already pushed out an hour. Please read the screen shots for reference as to her reasoning for bailing on me an hour before the pushed back appt. Extremely unprofessional. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise, bc I will NOT be going back for the touch up. I will have my original artist touch it up. She preaches about being timely/showing up, yet can’t even give the same respect to her clients. It wasn’t that something came up, she just didn’t feel like doing it. Can’t honor a commitment due to lack of planning on her part. If you want an artist you can truly trust/depend on, Learra Rose is NOT the person for you. 🚩

Shop was very clean and all the artists were very kind. Danielle did my tattoo and it turned out amazing. The line work is stellar and the colors are vibrant. Danielle was very patient throughout the session and didn’t mind that I took multiple snack breaks. Would highly recommend the shop.

Absolutely love this shop. No matter who Ive gone to there, they have been amazing. They are all great communicators, willing to go the extra mile with requests, and work to get it the exact tattoo you want. Super clean facilities and all fun to talk to when you have a 6 hour session, lol. Will absolutely continue to come go here, and I always recommend it, whether getting your first tattoo or 50th.

First time having work done by Jonah and I will 100% be getting more work done by him. Sat for 6 hours on an realism arm piece, he never left me wondering about what he was doing while working, made sure I was comfortable and made the experience amazing with the jokes and conversations. Absolutely loved my entire time there!!

I got my first ever tattoo done here by Danielle!! I absolutely love it and am desperate to get more from her 😍😍😍The shop itself has a great vibe, and Jonah is super chill and cool to talk to! I just really loved my experience getting tattooed here, I cant wait for more!!

Danielle did excellent work on my tattoos and was very kind and personable. Everyone here is so welcoming and makes you feel comfortable. We will definitely come back here for all our future tattoos. Highly recommended

Learra has been working on a very big piece that is very special to me. She takes her time and this one piece is beautiful so far. (which have plans for more someday soon) I get compliments everywhere I go. Where did you get it done? Who did it!?We have great conversations. I love the vibe Learra gives off. She is so very understand and flexible. Overall, she is a great art and person and I plan to keep supporting her through her journey.

Learra has tattooed me 3 different times now and all of the tattoos she has done on me turned out better than I could have even initially pictured them. She really puts her all into her art work! I also liked how she played movies while tattooing me as I’m not that social when I’m being tattooed cuz of being in pain and it was a nice distraction and took my mind off the tattoo. She also is caring about your pain level and checks in on you while tattooing you to make sure you are okay. 10/10 would recommend Learra to anyone!!

Blue Gem is one of my favorite shops in the city. Ive been tattooed by both Danielle and Jonah. Danielle did a beautiful, very clean tattoo of my old business logo which she had designed in its infancy-it didnt even need a touch up. Jonah did a phenomenal, very custom, portrait style tattoo that I constantly get compliments on. I searched for over a year for an artist that was interested and skilled in the area of my tattoos style and he absolutely did not disappoint!

I had a memorial piece done by Learra in Feb. 2024. I loved working with her and allowing her to have creative freedom, as that is very important to me when seeing a tattoo artist. I sent 3-4 photos to her for reference and requested that she try to incorporate all of my suggestions. Which she did!! I am beyond impressed with the quality and smooth process of it all. I had to book two separate sessions due to the size of the piece (totally understandable/super common). During each appointment, Learra provided entertainment of a movie (which I was SO thankful for, as I was unprepared & forgot to pack my iPad to watch). Scheduling with her was incredibly easy and uncomplicated. I definitely recommend Learra for your tattoo needs, as she is incredibly easy to work with and has so much creative talent! ❣️P.S. I loved my first piece from Learra so much that I’ve already scheduled another sesh to finish my sleeve! 🖤 this girl cannot wait!!!

I can only speak to actual tattoo work from Kim, and I speak very highly. They are not only a high quality artist, they are a high quality human. Absolutely loved my experience and once again, can’t wait to get my next from them. I will say, the entire shop is super chill and welcoming, so I would be totally comfortable with any of the artists. Just a great place worth your visit. You won’t be disappointed

Everyone here is amazing and its a comfortable and clean environment whether youre seasoned or a newbie to getting tattoos. This is where I brought my husband to watch me get a tattoo to show him how its not so bad because everyone is so kind. You can tell everyone is passionate and really cares about you and what theyre doing.Ive had multiple pieces by Danielle and Jonah now and I am quick to heap praise and give referrals whenever someone compliments the art.(Pictures to be added)

Jonah was recommended by niece and with good reason. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He makes sure you are comfortable and makes recommendations to suit you. I love that his work is authentic and custom. He did an awesome job on the fine lines and shading. I am very happy with my new art. Hes very clean and shares awesome stories while he works. Ill definitely be back for my next tattoo and recommend him to my friends and anyone who asks me about my tattoo.

Sent a horrible looking tattoo and some live pictures of what I was wanting to Jonah. I trusted him to dream something up better than what I sent. He knocked it out of the park. Out of the couple tattoos I have this was the best experience Ive had. Took a while to get done because of the detail, and it was well worth it. Hes very smooth and professional. We drove two hours to get there but Ill definitely be making that trip again.

So far my experience with blue gem has been great, unfortunately they are very busy ( its a good thing ! ) So Ill be booked out a bit but overall what a nice place. The woman who helped me at the front counter was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Thanks for being a great spot with great artists. Will be going to Danielle as much as possible.

Jonah is the best tatoo artist I have ever seen. His realism abilities are known nation wide.Very clean, sealed and professional high end equipment.His health and safety practices involved with tattooing feels almost hospital oriented, giving breaks when needed, water and candy bars to keep up your blood sugars, and he talks to you alot during the procedure to make sure youre doing good.My tattoo guy for life.

I had an awesome experience with Jonah! He did an amazing job on my old tattoo and brought so much life to it! Im super excited about it! I looked at a picture of my old tattoo and compared it to the new one. Its night and day. The old one is missing everything that makes it realistic looking. The new one is so much more lifelike and is beautifully redone. I cant express how amazing it looks and how happy I am about the work he did on it. I look forward to my next one soon! Thank you!!!

The shop was extremely clean and organized. Jonah did an absolutely amazing job with my tattoo. He was friendly and helpful. I had a tattoo done elsewhere years ago that I wanted fixed and added onto but I was a little clueless on the proper approach and what exactly I wanted. Despite my vague guidance, he designed something that I can wear proudly and confidently and I am beyond ecstatic. The level of professionalism and the high standard of sanitation here is impeccable. I would definitely reccomend Blue Gem to anyone and everyone.

Ive had a total of 5 tattoos done by both former owner Donovan, and current owner Jonah! I love all my ink. They also do piercings and they are great, too! Super professional work! Jonah is also a talented artist that sells prints, original art, and a variety of hemp products in the store to heal and soothe you! He has some amazing in-house and guest artists as well!

Rich at the blue gem doesnt like working with customers with custom tattoo work. He complained about me wanting changes done constantly even though a tattoo is permanent. If its not good enough why would I approve it? Plus he has horrible attention to detail and ended up coloring parts of my tattoo the wrong colors and did a horrible job shading. I wouldnt recommend him to my worst enemy.He was also very slow doing the work. Took about 4 hours to do the tattoo. The new place I went to did the next tattoo with similar detail at twice the size in 2 hours.I also was very patient with him and still left him a sizable tip. When I told him I was going elsewhere he promptly blocked me and kept the $100 that was supposed to come off the final session. Very unprofessional.

First tattoo for me and my 2 friends and I was super nervous. Jonah is a super cool guy, made sure we were comfortable and understood what was happening and the process. Would highly recommend him. Also he is a really talented artist and has some really cool pieces on display. Check him out!

Great tattoo shop. ***THEY DO NOT DO PIERCINGS*** Just wanted to make that known that this shop does not offer piercings unlike most tattoo shops. The shop is very clean and the artist are very friendly. I was treated very well by everyone in the shop while I was there. Learra did my tattoo and she did a fantastic job. I would come back here again!

Currently in the process of getting a tattoo done by Jonah (Owner). I have multiple tattoos and this is by far the best experience I’ve had with a shop. The staff are all very friendly and great to be around. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a tattoo!

Really great tattoo parlor. The whole staff was really positive and friendly! Very clean and nice. Highly recommended...especially for a first tattoo like my daughter received.

I brought my six year old daughter to get her ears pierced and they were WONDERFUL!! John was patient and understanding about her crying and waited in between ears to let her calm down and decide if she wanted the other one done. They are clean and friendly!! Would DEFINITELY suggest them to anyone wanting any piercings!

Have been here several times and got a few tattoos from Katrina. I loved them and was happy with the new shop I had found. Then I had her do a cover up for me. Instead of trying her best to cover it up. She just slapped something on top of it and didnt even try to hide what was underneath. Im currently going elsewhere to get the cover up fixed.

Place is awesome. 3 crazy skilled artists willing to put that skill into your skin. Just costs their hourly, plus a little blood and pain. They have a wall full of one-off designs, and random flash machine where you can get a design if you know you want one, but dont have a clue what you want.

According to the website, walk-ins are welcome. Upon calling, I was told by the owner that they do not actually (thank god I called). Furthermore, I emailed regarding a consultation in response to an email from Blue Gem and two weeks later I have still not heard back from them. Definitely going to take business to a more professional place.

Fiance got a cover up started here and it looks amazing. The lady does great work and fast. Everyone on the shop is super kind. Looking forward to getting some work done myself here in the future.

I have an unfinished tattoo from Rich. My appointment got forgotten about two seperate times after Id driven 3.5 hours to the shop one way. I have yet to hear a response from almost 2 weeks ago & he still has my $150 deposit for the half finished tattoo.

Jonah Osgood is an excellent tattoo artist i& very professional as well as very personable....He tells you exactly what to expect b4 your tattoo & whats going on during & the after care...And also laughs & jokes around too.. The staff that was working today as in the other tattoo artist and his receptionist was very friendly and its like going to a friends place.... Absoutely recommend him.. I highly doubt youll be disappointed..Kudos Mr Osgood

My son over a month ago made an appointment with the printess there she said she could do great tattoos my son had put money down and he said if something come up put at the next times she said yes but she a lier my son was running late from out town so said can we do next morning said no money mine and Im not putting your next visit not what she said too him came him so no stars and dont trust woman at the counter she take your money and lie to you
