Alley Cat Tattoo

Ive gotten over a dozen tattoos here by 4 different artist. All are very professional and easy to get along with. Brian is very easy to get ideas across to and his execution with designs are always spot on and Id trust him with any future tattoo and will continue to go back to him. Richie is extremely caring with placement and making sure Im always comfortable and confident when starting the tattoo process and is one of the nicest people Ive met in or out of a tattoo shop. Andrew provided one of the best experiences I could have had, very communicative with the consultation process as well as getting me in for the appointment. Andrew provided a very comfortable appointment. His gentle tattooing and demeanor made for a very positive experience. Trevors tattoo looks just as good 4.5 year later as it did the day of appointment. Everytime I get a tattoo its always nice having the other artist walk by and hype each other up, its awesome. BEST SPOT IN TOWN!

Ive never had a tattoo or piercing before and had zero experience in it. Walked in to be pleasantly surprised by the beautiful artwork inside. The floor artwork is so unique, and theres plenty to look at. Everyone was so kind, straightforward, and knowledgeable about the job they were performing. I got my breasts pierced, the wonderful woman who did them for me was amazing. She was very respectful, more kind than an actual doctor. Answered all of my questions with no hesitation. As long as Im in the area, I will go back here for any tattoo or piercing needs!

I’ve been to a few piercers in my past and haven’t had good experiences. But then I went to Sara and she’s the absolute best. I seriously won’t go to anyone else to get piercings. She’s so educated, informative, and makes you feel comfortable through the process. I highly recommend her for any of your piercing needs!!

Have been in a few times now for piercings/switching out jewelry and this place is the best at what they do. Kate and Sara are the best piercers I have ever been to. I’ve never had someone take out my old earrings without me noticing before - that’s how good they are at what they do. Everyone at the shop has been super helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Will definitely keep going back whenever I need something done.

I got my septum piercing done here and Sara was awesome! She’s super straightforward and good at what she does. I definitely recommend this place! The place is also super clean, so it doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all. :)

I absolutely love to come here for piercings! Sarah is so kind and patient, I trust her whole heartedly. The studio and equipment is extremely clean and sanitary. Both piercings I’ve gotten have healed nicely and with no issues. I definitely will be coming back!

This was my first time here and at 60+ was nervous about getting conch piercing. I had every intention of getting the tragus but Sarah suggested conch because of my hearing aids. She took her time, made me feel comfortable and was very professional! I hardly felt it. Aftercare was explained and she even encouraged me to come back! I definitely will be back.

Kate took great care of my partner and I when we came in to get tooth gems. She had a lot of options available and told us she’s always on the lookout for unique and fun designs. Our gems have been so fun to show off and we can’t wait to get more!

My first experience at Alley Cat was amazing. I went to see Sara for a piercing. She has the most beautiful and warm personality, the perfect mix of friendly and professional. The studio was clean with all of the proper sanitation measures prioritized. I’ve already planned out my next 8 piercings 🤩

Have gotten many piercings (Rook, Conch, Daith, Forward Helix, three Helix, and a Nose) and a tattoo from Alley Cat over the years. They have all healed extremely well and look great. Everyone is super nice/welcoming, and I think the piercings/tattoos are priced fairly. Alley Cat always has cool piercings and Ive come in a few times to get them changed out. Overall 10/10, 5 stars.

Alley Cat Tattoo is a great shop I always recommend to others. You will not be disappointed with a tattoo from any of these artists (and sometimes you can also catch an awesome guest artist!). I got my first tattoo there in 2010 and started getting tattooed more regularly since 2018. I’ve also been pierced by Sara and Kate who both do wonderful work and always help me if I have a problem with my piercing (listen to them when they tell you not to touch it). I most recently had eyebrow microblading services done by Kate and I’m so happy with the results!

I love alley cat tattoo studio! I’ve seen specifically Kate to try her tooth gems! My very first one and she was amazing! So comforting and informative, hyped me up too! I’m in love and definitely gonna add more in the future with her !!

Jacob was very professional, patient, and kind. He clearly explained everything I needed to know about the process and recovery and then gave me my first tattoo. The parlor is clean. The bathroom is clean. The atmosphere is relaxing. They play pleasant and varied music at a reasonable volume. The walls are a banquet of beauty and a true feast for your eyes.

My friend and I went to Alleycat to get piercings last night and Sara made the process so easy. I knew sort of what I wanted, but she helped me pick out one and I’m absolutely in love (got a forward helix). She even told me she left space so I could get another one down the line. She spent time with my friend and I helping us decide and was so thoughtful and caring throughout the entire time we were there. We talked with her during the whole thing about the most random things, so we were all comfortable! She’s super fast when piercing and will make sure you’re happy before you leave. Definitely will recommend Sara a million times over and will be coming back in for more piercings with her!!

Extremely clean, inviting, welcoming, and friendly. One of the best experiences I’ve had from a shop to date.My wife and I came and got piercings on a Thursday, specifically a septum and daith. Sara did both of our piercings and clearly explained every step from concept to fully healed. We inquired about walk-in tattoos and were informed that there would be availability the next day.We showed up Friday morning 2nd/3rd in line and had our tattoo ideas taken down by Richie. We were given a time to come back, and although there was a small delay in the anticipated appointment time, Alley Cat was very professional and communicative throughout.Richie did my tattoo and Jacob did my wife’s tattoo. Both of them turned out incredible, were extremely comfortable, and efficient.I can NOT recommend Alley Cat enough, and we are already planning another 4 hour drive just to get more work done here.Also, tip your artists and piercers. They deserve it 🤘🏻

Fantastic service!!!I did a walk in for snakebites (two lip piercings)I felt very comfortable with the process, and it barely hurt (it did hurt, but i got a needle shoved through my face twice, so...its gonna hurt lol!)They even switched me to a longer bar at the first sign of more swelling!They look fantastic and i was given great aftercare instructions and when to come back to replace the bars/when i can come get them switched to hoops/etc ^_^!!!!

I love this place so much. The service was excellent. Kate did my gems & Bryan did my tattoo. They are both amazing and exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to go back again🫶🏼❤️

This is the only tattoo shop that my husband and I will go. My hubby is covered in ink and has been to many shops but, once he got a tat here approx. 15yrs ago this is the only place he lets touch him. Trevor and Ritchie do amazing detailed work. Porter does awesome colored interesting work and the owner is a genuius Japanese whiz. All around- Awesome artist, great environment and we always leave more than satisfied!

The staff has been so rude every time I’ve been here. They act like you are a nuisance for being a customer. I got my helix pierced here a year ago and I waited four hours for it. They kept saying I was next up or saying it’ll be like 30 more minutes which was just a lie. All while being very rude and snippy mind you. My second interaction with this place was trying to get a FITTED nose ring for myself. I waited an entire hour for a 3 second interaction with the piercer, who took one look at my nose and grabbed a ring for me. I wasn’t. Allowed to try it on in the store & when I did try it on it was HUGE. I called them to see if I could exchange it or get some kind of compensation for my time & money and again super RUDE staff on the phone told me I have to come in and talk to them because they can’t check their policy about it?? I’d rather know if I can get a refund or not than wait ANOTHER HOUR or more just for them to tell me this information. Not sure how this place has such great reviews but just go elsewhere. The staff is extremely and consistently rude.

I got freckle tattoos from Kate, and it was one of the best experiences i’ve had getting tattooed yet! Not only is she really talented and really kind, but she’s really patient if you’re like me and have a million questions! She’s really great at creating a comfortable environment that’s great for anyone, first tattoo or fifteenth! Got a piercing, the studio is clean and the staff is nice and informative. Always go to them for tattoos as well, they did my fiancees ink and it is amazing.

Kate is always so professional and awesome at what she does! Kate has done almost all of my piercings and kills it every single time. Everything is clean, quick, and she’s always honest! She’s my favorite person at Alley Cat! I drive 30 min just to get piercings from her.

Everyone has something different to offer ,but are still able to manage producing top tier quality work. One of my favorite places of earth!

Wouldn’t recommend, the girl sitter at the desk was so rude and doesn’t seem friendly. The girl who does the piercings was also really rude but seemed nicer to the people before me. She gave me a million reasons of “what’s wrong with my piercing” instead of just switching the nose piercing ring like I went in there for. She was very passive aggressive. Charged me $100 for just a nose hook.

I’ve used Alley Cat for several tattoos and piercings over the years. The staff is always friendly and most importantly, they are very clean!

I really try to avoid giving any place a bad review but this place I was insulted before Ive even done business with them. I came in & was told walk-ins are available, THEN only to be told the artist was full for the day & couldnt fit anyone else in, all the while people were coming in(walk-ins) consistently while I was there. My number was taken & I was told another artist may be able to fit my in, I watched the girl write my number & didnt even put my name with it. I decided to leave and was given an email that I could speak with someone about what work I wanted, THEN was told on reply they dont do face tats. After a day of waiting for a response on the other tattoo I inquired about, was given an UNGODLY price for a tattoo on my hand. What makes the experience WORSE is I have 3 people who all told me to go to this parlor because of the tats they got, I went back & told them the price I was given & was shown 4 different tattoos that were more than triple the size of the tattoo I wanted & was half the price I was given with more detail. Im so disappointed because Ive heard great things about this shop yet I feel quite discriminated against.

Fantastic experience! Ive been pierced twice here and both times have been a great experience. You never feel rushed and Sara makes sure youre taken care of and comfortable. I definitely recommend coming here!

If I could give Kate a million stars I would! She was incredibly professional and knowledgeable about cosmetic tattooing. I went three weeks ago to get my nipples done. I was super nervous, but Sera was freaking amazing. She talked with me and answered all my questions and concerns. She definitely made me more comfortable then any other piercer Ive gone to. They are healing nicely, and she gave me all the resources to make sure they healed properly. I cannot recommend this place enough!! I heard about Alley Cat from a friend who recommended tattoo artist Jake. Jake took my dino-inspired tattoo and brought it to life! He goes above and beyond in his work and it shows. I had three 4 hours sessions and each one has been pleasant. Ive also had numerous piercings done by Sara. My piercings have healed properly as I followed Saras recommendations for aftercare. This time of year is busy but even with the business rush, they offered me a stool to sit on while I waited for my appointment. Clean, fun, and professional shop!

I had my helix piercing done by Kate and would recommend her and Alley Cat to anyone wanting a piercing. They are clean, sterile, professional and answered all my questions.

The shop is nice and everyone was very friendly and accommodating, but Sara was awesome! I originally went in to get my nose pierced. She was professional, calming and pierced quickly. She went through all the aftercare and things I could expect during the healing process. Most important to me, she took her time understanding what I wanted and what my concerns and questions were. I do not live near the shop to go back casually, but she made me feel so comfortable that I ended up going back the same day to get a few more piercings that I had previously and was nervous about repiercing due to scar tissue. The process was as easy and successful as the first. I am very glad we found her!!

I cannot recommend Alley Cat enough. I have extreme anxiety for tattoo shops as they have been rude in the past and dismissive. This experience was nothing close to that. Trevor tattooed me and was so dope and kept me distracted from the pain. He did an incredible job and it was A LOT more affordable than I thought!! Thank you Alley Cat I will be returning soon :)

Such an incredible experience getting pierced here!! It was a bit of a wait because we went in the day of the cats cradle fundraiser but that was to be expected. The piercer was so sweet and kind, and helped both my friend and I through our anxieties. An amazing place I cannot recommend it enough!!

Got a tattoo here from Richie about a year ago and I get compliments all the time about the line work and how it still looks like I got it freshly done. I also got three piercings by Sara recently and she is awesome, very thorough with explaining aftercare and has a quick hand. Love the atmosphere.

Sara and Kate are amazing! Sara pierced my nose and was calming and efficient...it was a breeze and has been healing nicely. This morning I woke up and had lost the top of my piercing. Kate was equally lovely and had me fixed up in a matter of minutes. Highly recommend either of these ladies for piercings!

Richie did this tattoo for me a year ago and I get compliments on it all the time. Another tattoo artist came all the way over to me just to say damn good work I have another appointment with him soon. Could not be happier with how this turned out and with my experience at alley cat. Ive also gotten a few piercings here and their prices are reasonable but at the same time extremely friendly and professional. This place is the best.

I could not have been MORE pleased with my experience. Customer service on the phone was excellent (Sara!). She was ready when I arrived and so friendly. The precautions taken for covid/piercing in general were phenomenal. I could tell how experienced she was with piercing as well. So quick and efficient. I will definitely be coming back for any and all piercings/tattoos in the future!

Kate was awesome, did both mine and my gf’s but only biggest issue was that we went in, waited the time we were told and still had to wait longer because they put other people in front of us and that’s kind of annoying considering piercing are walk ins and there’s only a couch to sit on. I had no issues with the people but i do recommend being a bit more professional.

I LOVE this place! I live 2 hours away from Alley Cat now, but I still make the drive there any time I want a piercing or tattoo because theyre the only ones I trust.Ive gotten numerous tattoos by Porter, Trevor, & Ritchie, and have been completely impressed with their talent and demeanor every time!Sara & Kate have both done flawless piercings on my body, but beyond that theyve created an environment that puts me immediately at ease (even when Im freaking out over a needle). I did get a rook piercing in Richmond once - and within a month I had to drive up to Alley Cat so Sara could fix it.DEFINITELY get tattooed/pierced at this place if you get the chance!

Jake H has done all my tattoos and I have another appt with him soon. I’ve never had a single problem here, staff is helpful and fast paced. Jake is a great artist great linework and gentle. I see no need to ever go anywhere else for my tattoos.

I cant remember the pretty brunettes name but she was absolutely amazing with my piercing. She didnt make me uncomfortable and shell talk as much or as little as you do if youre nervous which I was. I got a lot of tats and not piercings so I was internally screaming lol thank you beautiful.

Got the Monroe piercing! Sarah (Sorry if I misspelled her name) was the piercer. Upon my arrival, I was greeted outside...I asked questions and they were answered to my satisfaction. I asked could I make an appointment and to my surprise, the gentleman said she could do it in just a few minutes. When I got to the back, Sarah told me everything she was going to do before she did it. Before I know it, it was done. She then told me how to care for my new piercing!! I will say, I did read a lot of the reviews and was a little hesitant. While I do appreciate reviews, experience has taught me my experience may not be the same as someone elses. This place is so cool and Sarah honey, you are the bomb! I DO RECOMMEND this place.

For my first tattoo, I dont think I could have picked a better place than Alley Cat. Porter put me at ease right away, and did a fantastic job. I wanted a tattoo that incorporated the scar I had received from a feeding tube during lung cancer treatment. Porter delivered!

Today was my second time coming to Alley Cat and I dont think I will be coming back again which is unfortunate since so many of my friends recommend it. I came in today to change the backing of my cartilage piercing so it could heal properly and to purchase a hoop for my nose piercing. The employee did a really good job replacing the backing up until I asked about their hoops. She got frustrated at me because I should have mentioned wanting one in the beginning of my appointment and because I asked for help for putting it in? I wasnt even planning on changing it at the shop but even still, I dont think an employee should get upset with the customer if they wanted to? Overall the experiences Ive had here have been poor and the staff is not very friendly.

Jacob did my tattoo, and he did a fantastic job! He was very nice and super understanding, took breaks when I needed them and was overall just amazing. Was waiting for about 20 minutes, but only because he took the time to thoroughly sanitize his area. Would definitely recommend Jacob, and would definitely come again.

I highly recommend Sara for your piercings. She was absolutely amazing. Very professional and personable! Very clean and sanitized. Sara was extremely knowledgeable about my piercing, answered all my questions, and even chatted about things other than piercings. Ill be back to see her!

This was my very first time ever getting my septum pierced I was super nervous and uncertain how it would go. But Sara was amazing! She made sure I was comfortable and explained everything to me and I was out in 5 minutes !! I would definitely come here again and highly recommend her for a piercing.

About a year ago I had my right nostril pierced here and it was such a great experience. Yesterday I went for some kind of ear piercing. I left it up to the piercer, Sara and she did an amazing job. So thankful I have somewhere close I can go with awesome people who are super knowledgeable and easy to talk to!

I arrived as a walk-in a few weeks ago to get my septum pierced - the individual at the front counter was friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer all of my questions. The employee who actually did the piercing was equally as amazing, polite, and informative. The piercing looks great and is healing well - would highly recommend.

I just had my first tattoo done today at Alley Cat and it was such a great experience! Their facility is very clean and the staff is very nice, hilarious, and extremely professional. Porter was my artist and he did a fantastic job not only with modifying a design my friend had done for me, but in coaching me through the entire experience. He was very cognizant of me being anxious since it was my first tattoo but he made me feel very comfortable and talked to me the entire time. 10/10 would recommend!

Alley Cat is a really cool spot. They have good customer service. Nick and Nate made sure I was taken care of the whole time I was there. Nate is the man! Hes talented and he works fast, he did my shoulder the way I wanted in little time. These are honest guys working in there I wasnt overcharged for the work I received and I really appreciated that. Overall I had a really good experience when I went and I would recommend Alley Cat to anyone that wants a tattoo or appreciates good work.

Love this shop. Sara is the absolute best at doing piercings and the tattoo artists are all very talented. Personally Ive been working with Trevor, hes done 2 tattoos for me and theyve turned out just like I wanted!

Porter was amazing, this was my first tattoo and he really made me feel comfortable while he was working. He also took my design and made it better than how I had originally drawn it up. I am extremely happy with my experience and hope to come back sometime.

An update to my review, I got a dubble conch peircing about 2 months ago and i ABSOLUTELY love it, very nice and informative peircer!Top 3 tattoo shops I have ever been to Ive lived all over the world and see amazing work but these guys are top notch, professional, and very clean. Went here recently with two great friends of mine to get a group tattoo and they treated us so great, we were kinda annoying. Ask all the questions you want look through ever book and wall they will help you and suggest. Got my first tattoo here got my 2cd tattoo here, hope to get a piercing here soon! Thanks alley cat for being one of the best shops in town!

Went there today for my first professional tattoo since I just turned 18 two days ago, and I’m honestly really freakin impressed. Richie took my idea of a tattoo, and made it a thousand times better. He’s a really chill guy, awesome with his job, and so are all the others at this shop!! Don’t take everyone’s review as a warning for your OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, because I was honestly nervous to go there, but once I stepped through those doors, I felt right at home!

This shop stays busy, and its due to the quality of their work. Their piercer and apprentice piercer do great work as well and Ive gotten 2 piercings here, so far.

Awesome shop, amazing artists, so many awesome pieces of flash decorating the walls. Nick the owner is a very nice guy and super knowledgeable about the craft and culture. I travel from northern Virginia to get tattooed there and it is worth the trip! Highly recommend.

Walked in and immediately was greeted by Kate. She was super helpful and she introduced me to Trevor. He did an amazing job. And his attention to detail is amazing. Thanks Kate, Trevor, and the rest of the staff for being as awesome as you were.

Had a great experience getting some piercings done, Sara was fantastic at her job and fun to chat with during the process. Ill definitely be keeping this place in mind for the future!

I have gotten two piercings from Alley Cat. Their staff is friendly and very knowledge. They can get a little preachy about care and such, but to be expected. Will definitely go back.

I never made it as far as actually getting a tattoo here. After communicating back and forth, confirming the date, time, cost, and what I actually wanted to get tattooed, I call to make the deposit and Im told that no times were available. This was minutes after e-mailing, obviously, with someone else in the shop. The time wasted over several days waiting on responses from them meant the special event being planned for the specific day was ruined. No semblance of customer service was had and I was blamed as the customer for not being quick enough. 7 minutes is the amount of time between the e-mail and the call to make a deposit.In response to Nick Swartz - Owner and it seems like youre unhappy that were busy. Nick, I hope you can or maybe have read through the e-mail chain. I understand being busy, but why did it take 4 days, 13 e-mails, and two phone calls to tell me that the date I requested on the very first call wasnt available. On 11/19 @ 3:38pm, I received the e-mail confirming that the artist could perform the requested art in three hours. I was told from the beginning to wait for confirmation from the artist. I called the shop at 3:45pm to make the deposit and was told the artist didnt have availability for my request. You guys are busy because you have a great reputation, but the customer service for me was awful and Ive lost four days in trying to line something up somewhere else. If I was told at any point along the way, prior to calling and making the deposit, that what I wanted wasnt doable on the day I asked about, this review wouldnt exist.

Alley Cat is the ONLY place I trust to get my piercings done at. Sara and Kate are fabulous and know EXACTLY what they are doing. I always love going in there!

My wife and I had tattoos here done before and were happy with the service. However, they only do walk-in appointments, not over the phone. Some places do that and I am fine with it. My wife wanted a second tattoo and was told there was one appointment for tonight and had to show up to make an appointment. She went the day before to make an appointment and deposit, but was told by the front desk girl that the tattoo artist had to be there. The next day, she drove 30 minutes and got there early just so she can be the first one in the door to get that appointment. However, two girls who arrived after her barged in before she could get to the door and lied to the front desk girl that they were first in line. Yeah, shame on them. We were told before that the first one sitting on the bench would be the first to be acknowledged for an appointment. This wasnt acknowledged this time around due to whatever reason. Get a sign-in sheet for the first ones there for heavens sake. The front desk girl nor the manager were helpful in anyway to alleviate the headache this caused. To the managers credit, he did call me on his vacation to assist with the problem. However, he just kept wanting to explain his way out and not really help her in any way. So many conflicting statements and rules that just change depending on who you ask. The manager could have done something else to help while he was on the phone Basic customer service. Not coming back after that ordeal.

I went in to get a hoop nose ring the place was super awesome and helped me with what I needed! I and my husband will be going back to get more jewelry and probably a tattoo of our kids foots and initials. Super excited to call and talk to them!

I went here this past Monday and my artist Nate was awesome!! He did a cover up tattoo with a rose on my chest, and it turned out great!! He was very professional, fast, and very creative...I dont even live here, and I would recommend anyone to go here, if interested in some great art work!!!!

Definitely do not recommend getting piercings here. Myself and four friends all went to get piercings together and all four of ours got infected and 2 had to go to a doctor to get antibiotics because it was so bad. 6 months later mine still is no where near healed.

I am in love with my tattoo thanks to Alley Cat --- more specifically, thanks to my tattoo artist Nate Heim. He did an awesome job at capturing my dog perfectly. My dog is very special to me and Im proud to have this artwork on my body for the rest of my life. Id highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tattoo -- even if you have to drive a little ways to get here (I came from Front Royal).

I had a terrible experience at alley cat tattoo...the artist was rushing my friend to make a decision on her FIRST tattoo, did not want to make small changes to the design that she would request, and was extremely rude to me as I was helping her figure out the perfect design. He cussed out a coworker during our appointment as well. It was very unprofessional and I will never go there again.

Staff was extremely unhelpful and rude, piercer was not even in the shop. when I asked a simple question about jewelry, the woman at the front gave little to no advice and acted as if she was too busy (when there wasn’t a single other person in the shop). when I wanted to buy an earring, she told me my choice was wrong even though (two minutes earlier) I asked for her advice and she waved me away. not a friendly or professional place.

Wish you could leave NO stars.rude staff, gruff and rushed. Very unhelpful when i asked questions about how to care for my tattoo. I do not trust them and I would not go there again.When asking what soap to use to clean my tatoo he said figure it out. If my tatoo gets infected i will send my doctor bills their way.

Everybody was super nice and very professional. Got tatted by Richie and got nose pierced by the cool lady chick. They actually take their time and listen to their customers.

Terrible!! I drove all the way to Harrisonburg after making an appointment just for them to tell me they dont pierce ears if youre under 18. Then the guy telling me this blamed it on me and said it was my fault for not asking. Every other place pierces young children. How was I supposed to know? I even had parental consent.

Awful staff... I came here to get some jewelry for my labret and the lady that gave it to me was super rude. She also gave me a horse shoe ring that was very irritating. My labret got so irritated, that I had to take out the piercing and it closed up in just 5 minutes.
