*From a couple years back but heard a friend talk about going here, so wanted to add my experience.Unpleasant experience. Showed up early for my consult but ended up waiting nearly two hours anyways. After a couple polite check-ins on my part the desk staff finally spoke to the artist I was supposed to meet, and I heard them rudely discussing me as if I had just shown up and was insisting on being seen. Bizarre.The desk staff came back and informed me theyd be closing soon but the artist would give me 15 minutes as a courtesy. I didnt even want to sit with him after how theyd been talking about me, but Id come at the recommendation of a friend and Id already been waiting. So I sat with the artist for 15 minutes while he legitimately called what I wanted a bad idea and offered to do something super generic (Japanese wood block waves), and when I reminded him that that was exactly what I did not want he said, Well you should figure out what you want before coming back and not waste my time.It wasnt my first tattoo or first consult. I know how they go with a good artist, and that its a fun collaboration with the right artist. I ended up getting my tattoo at a different parlor and was happy with it and happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Josh Wallis created a beautiful work of art on my arm. He showed great attention to detail and took his time to make sure everything was accurate to the picture he was using as reference.The consultation leading up to my session was easy and he made me feel confident that I was making the right decision with the right artist.My tattoo took roughly 3.5 hours and during that time it was nice to have someone whos easy to talk to. I learned that Josh knows a great deal about the history of his medium as well as the science behind how ink adheres to the skin. I learned stories about what can go wrong with tattooing and he thoroughly explained how to make sure the tattoo heals properly.Its worth noting that although there are numerous Star Wars themed tattoos in his portfolio - he can do anything. He seems to have mastered hyper-realism which is exactly what I was looking for in my tattoo. The picture Im posting now is as fresh as it gets and Ill be sure to update as the healing process continues.

Had a really great experience here, quick and easy with a high quality finished product, even touched up some parts of a past tattoo for free. really nice folk. will return to cover more parts of my body with ink.

Fat Rams Pumpkin Tattoo was a last-minute choice because our artist at another place was injured and couldnt keep our appointment. This place was the universe working in every way!! Great people, vibe, and fantastic artwork! My daughter and I just wanted simple 4 leaf clovers for St Patricks Day, and Maiz delivered with water color! What a great guy, too!! Loved every minute of the experience!!

I’ve known Roz for years and went to Pumpkin Tattoo to see her. The atmosphere was awesome, Roz was incredible (as always). Just give yourself time to find parking (that’s not their fault though).

Got a custom Miyazaki tattoo with Roz and had a great experience; would definitely recommend, especially for anime and Fandom related subject matter. Very professional and talented 👌

Had a nice easy piece done by Josh here. It healed well. He was a blast to talk to. I dont think Ive ever had a tattoo done where time just flew like this. (I have over a dozen pieces)Im from Toronto and Josh was accommodating. Most places in Boston require a consultation.Next time Im in Boston, Im definitely stopping by for more work.

I absolutely love this place! I had a small lotus flower on my neck that was awful. Fat Rams fixed it and its fabulous!!! I also got a sternum tattoo there as well. Their work is phenomenal. Ill show before and after pics. 🪷👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Josh Wallis is an AMAZING artist. My tattoo came out better than I had even envisioned. He helped me create what I wanted and knew exactly what I meant in my description. Unreal talent!

In town for a red sox game, popped in and they happened to have an opening for 3:30 so we left & came back. Shop was clean, people were friendly . We waited to consult then after the consult it was another hour plus before my mom even got tattooed . Ram the owner did not even shave my moms leg before tattooing (first red flag). Her tattoo came out great minus a few lines that did not line up, it was pretty much copy and pasted the picture and put on her. After she was done it took ANOTHER hour between chatting with random walk in questions and the person next in line (who was also waiting a long time, his appt was for 5:30 and we didn’t finish til 7:30) My tattoo was very quick, a strawberry with colors. No take home instructions ! Both of us were absolutely shocked by $300 EACH we honestly thought he was joking hers was way more detailed. (We completely understand it’s Boston and rates are higher) But we’re told in the beginning that it was $100 minimum by the front desk . (Apparently not on walk in day lol) We were there for 4+ HOURS . We were getting tattooed for maybe an hour of that. Needless to say we were late for Red Sox game, had even asked him to simplify the tattoos so we could be out on time. Not happy with the price for the work and the wait time .

My friends and I emailed a couple days before to see about getting tattoos. The reply was very prompt and welcoming! We went in and our tattoo artist James was very understanding and helpful, making sure that we got the tattoo that we wanted, where we wanted. Truly an amazing experience! Everyone was incredibly friendly and we can’t wait to come back here!!!

I just had my first tattoo done by Roz. Shes incredible.She was very involved and easy to talk to during the conceptualization and was super supportive and helpful. I came to her with my own design/art and she was able to perfectly replicate it on my body with the modifications I had requested, as well as some suggested tweaks that make the piece better for the medium at hand.She was clear and communicative, had a steady hand, and was also a great conversationalist. Thank you endlessly, Roz!

Roz is the best! I was referred to her through a friend. I sent Roz a extremely rough draft (Im not in any way at all an artist), and she cleaned it up for me, and the final result was better than I couldve ever imagined!

I seen Esben here a couple of times and he is amazing. He finished a piece that was started by someone else, he did suck an amazing job, the piece came out better than I expected. He is very professional and nice. An amazing artist he will be the one one touching me for now on.

I went this Sunday and had a tattoo done by Chad. I had gone in a week prior to make an appointment, but his lovely wife wasnt available to do my tattoo due to my schedule. So she introduced me to Chad and right away he booked me in for May 1st. I explained to him what I wanted and he was dead on! I am so happy with my tattoo. He was very nice and professional. He also did my husbands tattoo that same day. We are very happy! Will definitely go again for sure.

Roz Thompson is an absolutely amazing tattoo artist and person! She is so patient and makes sure that her clients feel comfortable throughout the entire process. She did a super cool Rick and Morty tattoo for me and it healed up amazingly!10/10 Roz is a gem, would highly recommend 💛💛💛💛💛

I had a very bad home tattoo done 6 yrs ago. The piece had enormous sentimental value and I wanted so badly to save it. Ram gave me a consult and said truthfully that it would never be perfect but that he could make it a thousand times better. I just had my appointment and words cant Express how grateful I am for the time and care he put into it. Its absolutely beautiful and I believe it is perfect now! Hes such a great guy and did an amazing job ♥️

Esben is the best! He made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process; from the consultation to the moment I walked out. My favorite part is that he always keeps up with his clients and texts back right away! He worked so fast and efficiently that I didn’t even realize how fast time has gone by. His and his teams professionalism is the reason I chose the shop to get my tat done here. I 100% recommend people come here! Esben rocks!

I came here for my first tattoo in 2018 im only writing this now because I’ve gotten a second tattoo and now I know better. When I got this tattoo the man that did it did not give me anything to care for it with. No cream, not the plastic wrap thing nothing. So my wrist tattoo did not heal properly & there’s patches in the tattoo.He did it and sent me on my way, I remember asking how do I care for it and he told me just put oil, so I did and still didn’t heal correctly....First picture is when I first got it done & was given nothing to treat it with, formed a hard crust over it. Other pictures are how it is now

The absolute worst communicators. I talked to someone a week in advance and was told it should be no problem to get our tattoos. I emailed them as requested. No response. Waited two days, called back and was asked to send in again! I did. Still no response. Specifically stated we were on a time limit in my email AND on the phone. Called two more times and was met with excuse after excuse. Covid 19 or not this is not the way to treat customers. Will never recommend no matter how good the artists are!

Great friendly staff, well organized, and great work. Always willing to accommodate walk-ins. They have a very talented staff that has styles with great range, so there is an artist for any style tatt you want. Planning my next 4 tattoos already.

It was awesome and great place for a first tattoo! Time flew by (my piece was bigger) and the experience was as pleasant as it could be. Captain Morgan charged me a totally fair price (my friends with smaller pieces had paid hundreds of dollars more than I did) and I am totally coming back!

Love this place. The owner is a stand up guy! His staff are polite, professional and very down to earth.

I have had my tattoos done here the past couple of years and will continue to do so in the future. The place is near immaculate which is one of the reasons I continue to come. I personally use Lucky as my artist but the other artists are great as well.

Had a piece dedicated to my son done by Josh Wallis in December. Scheduled another session with Josh because I wanted to add color to it & Josh said he could get it done when we consulted over a zoom meeting. Drove over an hour for my session & the first thing Josh tells me is “I wouldn’t touch it if it were me”. He proceeded to give excuse after excuse as to why he couldn’t add color to my tattoo & it just seemed like he wanted to leave for the night. When I informed him I was disappointed because I drove over an hour Josh turns around & says “it wasn’t for nothing” & proceeded to hand me a sticker and pin. NEVER AGAIN.

Their customer service is unpleasant, unprofessional, unorganized, and the place has a foul odor. This is my story, I called this place informed the guy what kind of tattoo I wanted. He told me it can be done in 10 mins and he informed me of the hours they do walk ins. When I went there at 1045 am no one was there in the front I waited like 5 mins then a guy came out. He told me there was a waitlist and there was no guarantee possibly at 4pm he can do the tattoo. The guy I spoke to on the phone never told me about a waitlist. Then I was told if they cant do it on that day I could return the next day. It just seemed like I was being dismissed and the guy told me before I left to figure it out. He never took the initiative to try to help me in providing me with good service. Also my tattoo literally took 5 mins to do, I ended up going somewhere else. This place wanted me to wait for hours not even more like 24 hrs for a tattoo that took 5 mins to do. My overall experience with them just didnt feel right.

I initially met with Melissa Baker having reviewed her tapestry on-line and seeing the work in her book. However, when we conferenced face-to-face, I learned she had a minimum of a two month waiting period due to her popularity. Feeling comfortable with Melissa, I asked her to recommend another artist there who could bring my concept to life. She recommended Lucky Matthews, who, she mentioned, had an extensive portfolio doing animals particularly elephants. I was hesitant at first because I didnt know anything about Lucky but after seeing his portfolio and speaking with him about my concept the skepticism faded. Lucky did a great job with the tat - the detail, the color, the nuance, wonderful!

Super clean space, very friendly staff, and good pricing! Our artist James was amazing, everything came out great! Great music too! :)

I have had 10 tattoos done at Pumpkin, all by Lucky Matthews. He is a master black and grey worker, and his lines, shading, and rendering are all pure genius.He is an experienced and accomplished artist (20+ years) who moves comfortably between images and ideas that I bring him, as well as his own original concept work. What I get in the end is always so much more. I am asked all the time about who does my tattoos. The shop is professional, immaculate, and the staff is knowledgable, cool, and very accommodating. Wonderful and professional place to get inked. On Friday the 13th, I received my first tattoo from the talented, warm, funny and communicative Lucky. The entire experience was fabulous. Highly recommend Lucky and Pumpkin Tattoo.

Ive had most of my work done with Chad Chesko. After Chad I never let another tattoo artist near me!

We showed up on saturdays for walk ins and sat there for like two hours and the front desk staff was super rude. The artist rolled his eyes and laughed at my idea. He drew his sketch and threw a fit and huffed when I asked him to change something. And then on top of all that I got the most basic tattoo that took 15 minutes and was charged over $150. DONT GO HERE.

Went in today for a consultation and got some cover up work done on a sleeve tattoo iv got ! looks so amazing definently going back to finish the rest. everyones friendly and extremely helpful any questioned you have they can answer 100 % which is great for anyone who want to get there first tattoo. i highly recommend this tattoo shop 1000 %

Really pissed with the service at pumpkin tattoo in Jamaica plain. Walked in and was told to wait about two minutes for a consultation....45 mins later the artist and the front desk secretary were outside chain smoking cigarettes and taking their sweet time. They were very rude when I asked how long it would be and then continued to ignore the customers while they leisurely chatted. Terrible service, walked out.

Get the price up front. Ram (the owner) does not even show up on time for his appointments. He also just spends the entire time changing gloves and drinking iced coffee & talking to skate boarder friends- although he looks mid 40s not 16. I paid 2k for a cover up & you can still see the tattoo clear as day that was supposed to be covered. I have been to many artists and he is by far the worst in ability and price.

I had the opportunity to get tattoo by Lucky Mathew. He is an amazing artist. His lines are perfect! The shop is great, clean and friendly. I cant wait to go back there in December.

Couldnt be happier, between my two half sleeves I have like 30 hours of work all from here. Wouldnt dream of going anywhere else. Ram is the man! Everyone that works at the shop is chill and super friendly.

Got my first Tattoo here. For walk-ins its cash up front and its a minimum of $100. So if youre getting a small tatoo make an appointment so you dont have to pay the $100. Or go somewhere else where the minimum is not as high. Great friendly people. Will definitely be going back for a bigger piece.

Super talented artists. i got an amazing tattoo from esben it was exactly what i wanted. long wait but youll get that anywhere and it was worth it for the quality of the work. everyone is super nice and i dont feel like i overpayed at all.

Ive gone to this tattoo shop a few times now. I havent had an appointment I usually do weekend walk ins Ive gotten some really nice work here and have never had an issue. Five of my seven tattoos have been done here.

If I said ANYTHING negative about my experience there itd be s bald headed lie!! I was a walk-in was greeted with professionalism at its finest and my tat was completed with the quickness by Esben and it was PERFECT!

Been here several times, most recently to do work with Josh Wallis. This is a great shop and I highly recommend Josh as an artist.

My son wanted a tattoo touched up and we called and they said come on in we are doing walkins today. So we rode the train, 45 minute ride, up to the shop and showed them his tattoo and oh well you will have to make an appontment for that ok well how about a simple couple of stars on his other arm. come back at four better yet call before you come. We were running a little late as we went to China town for lunch and called oh you better call back at 5 instead we arrived at 15 after four and were told oh we wont be able to do anything for you today.Not sure if the guy at the phone/desk was school in the art of disception but I can smell a pile of brown stuff a mile away. Save your money and time and make an appointment with a good shop that doesnt lie to you. If you want a good tattoo for a decent price try the tattoo shop in Fitchburg they will do a sleeve or a large piece for 150 to 200. Fat liars charges that for a small drawing. Take a ride on the train to Fitchburg and save a bundle over this rip joint

Im a hot mess. I am impossible to understand at times and was without clear vision of what I wanted my arm to look like. We sat down and Problem solved. We came up with an idea that I can see like a movie in my mind. I had terrible writers block too and now I have 3 canvases started based on these ideas. Mass health should pay pumpkin this month for psychiatric care.

Great staff, excellent friendly & talented staff. I give it as close to a 5 star as possible. Nothing is a perfect 5 star.Highly recommended! Thanks Esben! I will be back to see you all.

ARRIVED AT MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT JUST TO BE TURNED AWAY DUE TO ONE ARTIST ON SHIFT AND BEHIND IN TATTOOS, WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL TO RESCHEDULE BUT NEVER DID! POOR COMMUNICATION, AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I BELIEVE THEY PICK AND CHOOSE THE CLIENTS THEY PREFER TO SERVICE.

Bad customer service, condescending front desk staff refused to give me an estimate. I took my business down the street to another shop and got great customer service and a cool tattoo.
