Our experience with Black Mammoth was professional, quick and affordable. Roger was our artist and did an amazing job. We had 2 people getting tattoos the day of tattoo date, and he made it very comfortable and unforgettable. The work he did was beyond what was expected and we thank him so much ❤️. We will definitely be back.

Went here for my first tattoo. Incredible parlor filled with incredible people ☺️ the place is very clean and everyone that works there is super friendly. I had 4 sessions with Cody Wolfe (@codywolfetattoo on insta), and now I have an awesome three-quarter sleeve :) thanks Cody!!! As soon as I can settle on what tattoo to do next, I will absolutely be going back!

I dropped in yesterday to see if they had smaller dermal toppers for my surface tragus piercings, as well as get a new septum ring. They have a huge variety of jewelry, and the guy that changed out the toppers for me was fantastic. Ill 100% be traveling back to Manhattan for my next tat or piercing just to go to this place.

I wanted a memorial tattoo after a dear friend passed. Ive never gotten a tattoo before. I brought my idea to Cody, he suggested some slight changes. And in no time I had a beautiful reminder of my late friends handwriting that would stay with me forever. I couldnt stop smiling. Cody was awesome and it was a positive experience. Ill be coming back for my next one (TBD!). Thanks Black Mammoth for being part of my weird little grief journey.

JJ is awesome! I got my tongue peirced a couple weeks ago and just went in to have my bar size changed yesterday! I was only sore for a week. I expected way more pain than what it was. He was quick and talked to me through the entire thing. Made it much easier to relax and just go with the flow. Ill be going back here for any of my future peircings and I plan to make it the place I go for my first tattoo! I highly recommend going to JJ for all of your peircings his pricing is reasonable, and he is just super cool and laid back!

My only place to go for tattoos and piercings. Jj, piercer, is the absolute best. He is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and treats everyone with respect and kindness. If you never had a piercing, he is the best person to go to. Ive had roughly around 7 done with him and continue to go to him. Highly recommend!!!

I’ve gotten 3 piercings here and every one has healed great! They give thorough aftercare instructions and JJ makes the whole experience fun and educational. Though they are a little on the pricy end, they make up for it in quality!

Black mammoth gets my recommendation for anyone looking for ink in the area. They run a great looking shop with some super cool artists. Communication is smooth and quick and they always got some BANGERS playing to take your mind off the needle. Would come back again.

This place was so amazing. The people are incredible, I had so many laughs and just complete fun with some icing on the cake of professionalism. Had a great experience the staff was great !! i gave some ideas what i wanted for a sleeve and let them give some ideas and let them add some of there expertise . They are the artist they know how it will flow on the body . The shop is very clean, a great atmosphere, and great ppl . I thought it was very cool they gave me a reminder call to make sure all was good to go, as life gets busy .

My go-to spot for all my ink. It’s a no brainer, as Black Mammoth has IMO the most skilled tattoo artists in Manhattan, possibly even this side of Kansas City. Cody Bader has taken my concepts beyond my initial thoughts and created some truly incredible artwork.

I Went in looking for a replacement septum ring as my old one had fallen out. The woman at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful and the piercer was nothing but professional! I was worried about finding a great piercing shop as I am new to the state but am very happy to have found Black Mammoth and will recommend their services to everyone

JJ is undeniably the best piercer in Manhattan, and his work is worth penny. Hes an expert at his craft that understands visions for piercing projects and can execute them perfectly, but wont hesitate to tell you if you dont have the anatomy for certain piercings and will be able to come up with alternative choices. JJ isnt an APP verified piercer, but he may as well be as his workspace is extremely clean and organized, and his years of experience in this field shines through before, during, and after the piercing. He will make sure you are fully informed of everything he is doing to your body at that moment, and will try his best to make you comfortable throughout the entire procedure.The only downside you may have to expect is JJs last minute out of town notices. However, there are relatively easy caveats to work around this: If you ask him about his prospective availability (for the next few weeks) during your visit he will let you know, but this doesnt account for his true emergency absences. Unfortunately, no notices get posted on BMs social media platforms, so you will either have to call the shop or look at the sign posted on the front door to check if he will be in for the day. Keep in mind though that JJ does have a family and children, so he is understandably busy outside of his practice.Additionally, Lexi is the most wonderful front of house worker Ive seen in any public establishment. She is extremely professional, quick to respond with accurate answers to any questions, and very kind. I whole heartedly recommend contacting Lexi about your inquiries regarding piercing and jewelry costs, JJs availability, etc. first and foremost as she will always provide the most up to date answers to your questions.

I got a tattoo with Jake a while back and I absolutely love it and it looks great! The staff was so helpful and nice and I love the atmosphere! 10/10 would recommend!

JJ is the best piercer ever and I would never go anywhere else. He makes sure you are taken care of, that the piercing you want will look correct with your anatomy, and always makes sure you are comfortable and calm while jamming needles into your body parts. Ive gotten two tattoos here and a piercing, my first tattoo and my second to last (so far) and they were done by different artists who both did an absolutely amazing job. My first one Robert Black did, he not only made me feel super comfortable but relaxed the entire time, and it couldnt have turned out more beautiful. He took my design and just made it that much more amazing with his art work, and I couldnt have asked for a better artist for my first. Brandi Bruce did my second tattoo and I had the same treatment, with such a nice, relaxing, and comfortable environment. She even squeezed me in and got me in super fast, and again, did such an amazing job with the design and placement. And last with the piercing, JJ is super cool, just as nice as the rest, and did a super job with the placement. When I had questions he was always super grateful to answer, even months after the fact. Black mammoth is a wonderful place, its always very clean and the people are so wonderful and genuine! I will always come back here, its the place to go for good artist, both by their art and their heart.

I’ve been to JJ for four different piercings, all of which needed a little extra love because I am naturally a poor healer. The atmosphere is as good as it gets. Nice vibes, legit people, and fantastic artwork. JJ is the guy you wanna go too if youre in the market for a piercing and let me say hell ensure youre taken care of. Had a shoulder piece done by Brandy a few months ago and she nailed it! Love the piece still and am planning on getting more pieces done here. Brandy is an amazing tattoo artist and the rest of Black Mammoths staff are just as awesome. Cody is AMAZING. The time he took to listen to my needs and what I was looking for when I got my tattoo for my son was absolutely exceptional. The piece was extremely personal for me and he really took that and ran with it. Paid 300$ for shoddy line work that started to fade after a year. I lived with it because I knew I would eventually get it shaded, but I didnt realize how bad I got ripped off until I got it shaded, and I only paid 100$ for the shading plus the artist had to redo some of the lines.

I have been going to Black Mammoth for years. I actually used to go to the previous shop where these guys worked. Refused to go anywhere else until this shop opened. JJ is the best piercer Ive had. Hes very thorough in explaining aftercare, and isnt afraid to tell you if a piercing wont work with your body.

Black Mammoth is by far the best in town! Huge difference in how the customer is treated from first visit to finished work. Big change from the other shops we have visited in town. Very nice people who care about what you want. Adrian had done several pieces for my husband and after seeing his great work I decided it’s time for some more ink and a touch up on previous work. My new ink is exceptional and the experience was fantastic. I will return for more! Go see them, you will not be disappointed.

I have had the best tattooing experience at Black Mammoth. He has moved to another shop, but when Adrian was here, he redid the tattoo I got for my autistic siblings a few years ago and made it more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, he also added in details I hadnt even thought about. More recently, I went in to get a tattoo from Brandi that meant a lot to me. It was just a simple quote but I got it in a relatively painful area, but she was very patient and precise. She was also extremely personable, we had great conversation before and after my tattoo. I left with absolutely stellar linework, and a new favorite artist. Everyone who has asked who I recommend for tattoos has been directed here. The atmosphere of the shop itself is calm and welcoming, I wish I could rank it higher than 5 stars!

Received my first piercings for both ears to start gauges, the prices were good and they were extremely friendly all around. Gave good advice for care, and are willing to help in the future should I need it. Overall, great place!

I went there January of 2021 to get a piercing. Wonderful, gentle, professional experience. A year and a half later I took the piercing out for a day or so and was not able to get them back in. Black mammoth is very good about helping you get them back in. Again a very pleasant experience.

I got my nose piercing done by JJ on Wednesday. I was super nervous (I’m not sure if he could tell) but he was very informative, kind, and funny about everything that was going on. He gave lots of good information afterwards. Not only that, but the piercing was perfect. Yeah, it hurt, but it was quick and the piercing was put in the perfect place. Definitely will go back here again if I get another piercing!!

Got my industrial bear put in July of 2017. Super awesome piercer (JJ), he was a good conversationalist and made me feel comfortable. I ended up needing a long bar due to some problems on my end, went in and he took care of it for me super quickly with no additional charges. Definitely recommend this place! :)

By far my best experience with a piercer. I felt relaxed, at ease and eager to work with JJ. While I bled like stuck pig due to the placement of my piercing, I have no pain, no swelling and very little bleeding after 12 hours. I see this healing great and the after care offered is something I will take him up on. Highly, highly recommend Black Mammoth for your piercing needs.

I had a mother bear/baby bear tattoo completed on my calve by Robert! It really was the best experience. Robert is not heavy handed at all.. I almost napped to through the whole visit! JJ also did my septum! They are both great! I would highly recommend this place!

Cody did a tattoo after my grandpa passed and his custom drawing was more than I could have imagined. He took the idea of a lantern (which I knew was a random thing to want on me forever) and turned it into a tattoo I now get stopped on the street to talk about.Plus, he told me he liked the idea and was excited to do it which made the experience feel so much more special for a memorial tattoo. One of my daughters wanted a tattoo (her first) and she was extremely impressed with the professionalism, artistry, and friendliness of all of the staff. She loves her tattoo and is hoping to schedule a few more with them in the future.

I’ve been going here for about a year now and just finished my arm sleeve with Brandi Bruce. Not only is everyone professional, they’re personal and they show interest. It goes beyond the art. They care about what you have to say, they learn you by name and what you’re into, and they all have amazing ideas. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else within 1000 miles. Brandi worked with me on my first sleeve ever. I ended up working with Brandi when she moved to black mammoth and I have never regretted it. Got my Tragus Piercing done by Jon! He is very knowledgeable and explained all of the care and cleaning steps. He said if I have any issues to let him know. I was nervous but the piercing is cute! Definitely going there next time I get something done!

I couldnt be happier with my experience at Black Mammoth. It was my first tattoo, and I ended up feeling pretty nervous when I got there. I came by myself for a pretty sizable piece on my back. Adrian was all about figuring out what would be comfortable for me, but I ended up not moving from where we started. To contradict the ONLY bad review Ive seen, he quoted me at an hourly rate and guesstimated it would take 3 hours...we didnt take any breaks, so it took an hour and a half and THAT IS WHAT HE CHARGED ME FOR. Its absolutely beautiful, and I will remember my experience here forever. I will recommend this place to absolutely everyone I know. The artists, the desk staff, everyone was welcoming, more than accommodating, and made me feel so comfortable. Once it heals, Ill be sure to tag them in any photo I post. I couldnt have picked a better shop or artist. Thank you Adrian!!

I just moved to Kansas in December 2018 and was looking for a piercer that was patient and walked me through everything. JJ did just that. I got my Daith piercing with him and his technique was amazing. I was worried about the pain and I didn’t even feel anything. I had my belly button pierced by someone else and was having some irritations with it and JJ oriented me on what I could do better from how I clean it to what kind of pants I’m wearing that may cause some irritation. The Black Mammoth is my go to recommendation to anyone who is looking for a piercer! My sister in law even got a nose piercing done by him and she’s from out of state and loved him! Definitely won’t be disappointed!!

The facility is clean, stylish, and comfortable and on top of that the people that work there are professional and excel at their craft. I get stopped and asked about my tattoos so often that I’ve taken to carrying blank Black Mammoth appointment cards with me so I can hand them out and tell people down here to check them out.Lastly, if you’re one to balk at the hourly shop rate, just remember: a good tattoo is never cheap, and a cheap tattoo is never good.

Recently had Adrian do a full back piece for me and I couldnt have asked for a better tattooer. He was able to depict my image into a masterpiece. Everyone from the front desk to the piercing staff was amazing! You would regret not going to Black Mammoth for your piercing or tattoo work. Thanks again guys!

Hands-down the best tattoo shop not only in Kansas but my opinion the United States. I had a great experience. The piercer, JJ, helped me get my conch piercing back in that was partially closing back up. He was very kind and did a great job! I was very worried I would have to get it re-pierced and I didnt have to. Thank you.

I called black mammoth tattoo and piercings and the receptionist was really helpful and efficient with everything she told me. I went up there for 4 ear piercings and the paper work was short and to the point, I only waited about 15 minutes before they sent me in. The piercer JJ was literally the easiest guy to talk to Ive ever met while they were at work. He sat me down and went through the conditions of getting piercings that the receptionist told me about again, they really make sure you understand what you need to do afterwards which is really professional, and they really care about making sure youre taken care of. We got to the piercing part and it was awesome how perfect they ended up, if I ever want more piercings (which I probably will) Ill be going back to them.P.S. I didnt get a tattoo but while I was waiting I watched this lady getting one of a flower, and the artistry was superb, I would have loved to have it on my body.

The front desk staff is very friendly & helpful every time I’ve been in. I got a small tattoo on my forearm by Cody, & my husband has started a full sleeve by Brandi (extremely talented)on his arm. I would def recommend black mammoth, the wait can be really long depending on the artist, but the wait is usually worth it!

I’ve been going to Robert for 12 or more years now. He is by far the best tattoo artist I’ve met in the industry. The rest of the artist here all have extremely unique and amazing styles. The front desk staff is friendly and the entire business surpasses all expectations. Highly recommended.

I had the best experience at this shop! I was really nervous about getting pierced, but the staff made me feel a lot better by telling me what to expect and how to take care of my piercing. I went in for a nose piercing with JJ. I was extremely nervous and he made the whole experience comfortable. He explained things in detail and made sure I knew to come back or get a hold of him if I had any problems or questions. He was quick and his station was clean and neat.

My husband and I wanted to get a couple tattoo before he deployed. We were quoted for 3 hours at $360. Before we started our tattoo artist Robert was completely rude. He did an amazing job so there are no complaints there. It only took two hours instead of three that we were quoted for but we were still charged for three. WILL NEVER BE BACK.

I went there to get a quote on a tattoo and everyone was super nice! Ive been to Syndicate for the same reason and the receptionist was really rude and made me uncomfortable. But when I went to Black Mammoth, they were all incredibly pleasant to me and answered my questions in a way that was exceedingly courteous and polite. They didnt act like I was wasting their time just because I wasnt ready to pay for the tattoo or schedule it. And the information they gave me was tremendously helpful as to the costs of the tattoo and how much they charge per hour.If youre wanting to get a tattoo in order to cover something, I would strongly suggest going to Black Mammoth

I had a floral memorial tattoo done by Cody Bader about a year ago. His idea was beyond what I had pictured in my head. It turned out better than I dreamed. I love the style of it and host story of how he became a tattoo artist. He’s very professional and does phenomenal work. Robert has done 2 of my tattoos. One was a new piece that was 2 paw prints one of each of my dogs. He made it look very authentic as if each dog put their paw on me. The second piece was redoing an existing piece and adding another flower to it. Robert made it look like this was done all at once. I will always go back to Black Mammoth! Black Mammoth Tattoo is my new favorite piercing shop! Ive wanted my nipples pierced for 6 years, but was so scared of how badly I thought it would hurt. JJ made me feel so comfortable and just kept talking to me through the whole process. Ive never been to a piercer who would just talk my ear off and make me feel so comfortable and keep my mind off of what was gonna happen. The process itself was so quick and easy and JJ made it the least painful experience. I love JJ and will be back for piercings to come!

This place is GREAT. I got a walk in tattoo from Robert and he worked with me to get something I loved but was also feasible and it turned out wonderful!! This is also my go to piercing place because JJ is amazing and not only gets you awesome piercings and jewelry but also educated you about the whole process as he does it.

Made two birthday piercing appointments, paid my deposit. I understand as family things come up but I drove over an hour away not knowing our appointments had been canceled. Reception lady insisted she left a message. Weve had an answering machine 15 years never lost one message. Never had the number on our caller ID either. Was home literally all day the day she claimed to left said message. If you forgot to notify customers at least own it. Thanks for the last minute notice! So disappointed.Had the best experience with your establishment until today.Updated: Daughters rescheduled their appointments as JJ is one of the best piercer around. No surprise cancelation this time without notification. Very pleasant gentleman. I see now why my Daughters insisted on seeing him. Would definitely go back because of him. Updated my review to 4 stars only because of his kind, professional experience. Still think front staff may need to double check numbers and whom they did or didnt call for any future cancelation notifications.

Had amazing pieces of tattoo art in their books but once there they didnt give us the time of day. Was simply told that the piece wouldnt look good and that they dont do tattoos like that anymore because everyone has them now. Ended up at syndicate down the street where the staff was much friendlier, patient, and much more helpful.

JJ is an awesome piecer. The price is a little steep, but you get what you pay for! JJ is a great conversationalist and competent at what he does. He explained step by step exactly what he was doing, double checked that I like the locations he chose while he explained why he picked them, and was very clear in his aftercare instructions. Hr made sure to show me how to jewelry worked in case there were problems (oddly enough no one had even done that for me before).Despite the fact that I was getting piercing 13 and 14 I was oddly reassured by the experience and had no negative reactions afterwards.4 of us went to get pierced that week and we all agreed that JJ was great.

I got my tragus pierced by JJ, and he did a phenomenal job! Not only was he thorough with prep and follow through but my friend got sick after I got pierced and he was super helpful, getting her anything she needed! would definitely recommend him for any piercing!!

I had Robert work on an existing tattoo of mine just last week. He is AMAZING at what he does. We turned my tattoo into a half sleeve and there is a night & day difference between how it looked when I walked in and what it looks like now. I seriously can’t recommend Robert enough!

I just got a septum piercing there yesterday and the man who did mine was amazing! He told me exactly what he was going to do and he did it quick it didn’t hurt at all. I spent all my money on that piercing lol otherwise I would’ve left a tip!

I was initially really excited to get my tattoo from here, as their work looks great, but once I actually paid a deposit, they didnt want anything to do with me. I contacted them and they said I would need to go in for a quote, no problem. I went in and spoke with Robert, who barely acknowledged me, I told him what I wanted and he looked at me and said ok, yea I can do that and that was it. So I booked a Saturday appointment for a few weeks out since he was pretty booked up, put a deposit down and left. The day of my appointment I got a call from the receptionist that Robert had an emergency come up and wouldnt be able to make the appointment and their next saturday appointment was a few more weeks out. I decided to be patient and make a new appointment. Nearly 3 months after I got the first quote, I found out I was pregnant. I called to see if I could transfer the deposit to my husband and they said that was fine. When we sent the idea into Robert (note they didnt ask we come in for the quote this time), he said he didnt want to do it, and didnt offer any ideas of what he could do instead or explain why he wouldnt do it. And it was nothing insane, it was a landscape of a river and trees. When I was finally able to get tattooed again, I decided to call and see I could set a new appointment. The only hurdle being that my husband is deployed so I would need to take my son to daycare and get the tattoo started a little earlier in the day, which shouldnt be a problem since the shop opens at noon. Well, I guess Robert is too important or something to go into work 2 hours early to accommodate a client who already paid a deposit, who he initially cancelled on, because I was told he would only work his set schedule from 2-8. This wouldnt be an issue if my sons daycare didnt require him be picked up by 4pm, which means I would need to leave the shop at 330, which would only give us 1.5 hours to do any work. When I asked if I could move the deposit to a different artist who was willing to go in early, I was told no, but I would be able to pay a new deposit for a different artist. When I asked for a copy of the deposit agreement, they wouldnt send me a copy, they just told me it was on my appointment card. Even though their artist cancelled the appointment and refuses to make reasonable accommodations, I still cannot get my deposit back.Tl;dr - These artist dont care about the clients, they only care about their pockets, find someone else who actually WANTS your business, not just your money.

The piercing wasn’t cheap at all. It’s was $100 for my nose ring but I highly recommend coming here simply because of the care that the piercer gives.

They wanted $260 for two hours worth of work. For a tattoo of our daughters name its only 1 in tall 2 in long. Mine took maybe 45 mins and $80 to be done. What a joke.
