Island Avenue Tattoo

I’ve been tattooed by Joe a handful of times now, and most recently at the new shop at Island Ave. Joe is always a pleasure to be tattooed by and the new shop is amazing. We spoke about how much work he and his wife and the others put into it. I will keep returning to Island Ave time and time again! Everyone is so skilled and kind and the environment is welcoming. 5 Stars!

Joe is a wonderful artist and tattooer. I’ve been going to him for 12 years and I often get stopped by people complementing me on my tattoos. The work is bold and the colors are vibrant. The shop is clean and everyone is inviting. I recommend this shop to anyone who wants a new tattoo.

I’ve been tattooed by Joe twice, and hes made it a great experience both times. I got one piece done that I was so happy with that I went back for my next piece. Both times, Joe was friendly, clean, and communicative!! Id recommend his shop to anybody whether you’ve been tattooed before or not

I visited Island Ave Tattoo with my sister-in-law (to get her 1st tattoo a few months ago) and could not sing the praises of this shop more! While I didnt get any work done on that visit, I certainly plan to in the future. I can say, having gotten work done at many shops in the city, Island Ave stands with the best of the best. Theyre top notch as far as artistry, cleanliness, professionalism and bed-side manner w/ how they treat the customer (even dealing with some local McKees Rocks walk-in that was a bit of a...character...to say the least.) Not one bad vibe found here. Joe did her tattoo and did an absolutely stunning job. He was interested in her opinions going into the design, did a great job at making her 1st tattoo enjoyable and not a nervous experience, and the application was flawless. 10/10.

Island Avenue is one of the best shops in PA. I’ve been getting tattooed by Joe for 3 years now and he never misses. The shop is full of great people, great conversation, and great tattoos. You can’t beat it.

Gotten the majority of my work done at Island Avenue over the last yearish and I couldn’t be happier. Joe, Ben, and Milo are all great artists and the shop is beautiful. Wall to wall with enough flash that you could spend the day staring at it. Competitively priced for the quality of work. Best shop for American traditional tattooing in Pittsburgh. Plus being right around the corner from doughboys is a major plus

Ben did two tattoos for me in a single sitting. I got to keep the 5x7 painting of the one tattoo I got. The vibes were good and the work was great. The pricing was fantastic too. I’ll def be coming back for more tatties here.

Joe has been my go to tattooer for almost a decade now! I’ve followed him to multiple shops he’s worked at- and now that he has opened his own shop, I truly feel the level of artistry and expertise is elevated! The work he is doing now speaks for itself. Clean, bold, bright, and made to last. He is professional, plays great tunes, and offers a safe, comfortable space to get tattooed. Also, as a bonus- if you are into tattoo history, his shop is like a mini museum with artwork and relics from the GREATS! RUN, don’t walk ! And get yourself a crispy new skin pic from Joe. Ive been getting tattooed by Janky Joe since 2018. Work is exceptional and so is the shop. If you want top knotch quality in a laid back atmosphere this is the place.

I recently stopped in Island Ave to see Joes new shop. He has been my tattoo artist for years. Just walking into the shop you can tell they care about the entire process & history of tattooing; definitely check this shop out! The walls are covered in flash, art, & the bathroom has the best selfie mirror with door covered in a tribal for a background. 😮Island Ave was the first tattoo shop I was ever in when I was 18, so it’s incredible to see new life & art in this shop again. Cool things happening in McKees Rocks!!

I’ve been coming to Janky Joe for the past couple years. I like his approach to his craft and his abilities impress me more and more each time. I feel like he’s really hit his stride now that he opened his own shop. He is one of the better tattooists I’ve met. I would recommend this shop to anyone that appreciates great tattoos.
