Shelby gave me my first tatoo. It is an amazing tatoo of a realistic fox. She added vine and leaf detail to compliment. I have had nothing but compliments. Several saying it was the most beautiful tatoo they have seen. The color and detail is amazing. Thank you Shelby!!!

Best tattoo shop in town by a lot. I’ve gone to Anna for a septum piercing, ear piercings, and two tattoos and she is always so good!! I’m so happy with my piercings and tattoos, and she is always so nice and makes great conversation so it goes by quickly. I will never go to anyone else as long as I live in Tuscaloosa!!

They do great work, priced very well which is surprising for a college town. Very Clean and welcoming environment. Cant say enough good things, but they do get booked up. You may have to wait a month or two but its definitely worth the wait.I will be backIf your deciding on were in Tuscaloosa you want a tattoo this place should be at the top of your list!

Becca is amazing! Shes professional, personable, highly competent, and efficient!While there isnt a handicap parking space 😢, there is a ramp into the lobby. Youll have to transfer from your wheelchair onto her piercing/tattoo chair. She is very patient and helpful with getting situated on her chair.

My daughter has been begging for her second lobe piercing for two years and I have been wanting a nose piercing for close to 20 years. We decided to get it done together! We walked in a were greeted by so many friendly faces, everyone was so kind and helpful. We were taken back right away, and were back out within 20ish minutes. It was a very pleasant experience and the sweet lady that did our piercings was amazing! Very patient, kind and helpful! 10/10 would recommend!!!!3/1/2022We still love our piercings and are considering heading back this summer for a couple more and maybe a mother/daughter tattoo since my girl will be heading to college. Still 10/10 recommend!

I havent gotten a piercing since... Eternal Art when Bubba was piercing. Anyway, we decided to stop in at Cynical, and Bekah was fantastic! Very easygoing, explained everything step by step and made the experience super relaxing. We will definitely be back!

Im really happy with my experience at Cynical! Everyone there was super nice and reassuring. Staff was professional and the facility is very clean and orderly. I had a piercing scheduled with Anna (who was very kind and did a great job with the piercing and explaining how to care for it) and wanted to get a small matching tattoo with my friend if there was time, and they were able to squeeze us in later the same day! Matt did our little tattoos and was very patient with us and helped us through the nerves. Overall an excellent experience. Id recommend this place to anyone looking for a piercing or a tattoo!

Got my double helix here. Smooth and fast experience, piercer answered all my questions, no problems with the piercings yet.

I came here for my first piercing in 8 years and I was really impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of this place! Anna was very sweet and talked me through the whole process to calm my nerves. The piercings look great and I’m very happy with them! My only criticism is that the place would instantly be 100 times cooler if they had a worm-on-a-string curtain for one of the doorways.

I’ve gotten 13+ tattoos here from Bianca and they’re all absolutely perfect. she’s very professional (as is the whole staff), she’s clean and always makes sure the tattoos are placed to both of our liking. I will always go back to her and cynical. 100/10 recommend!!

I got my septum piercing done here a few weeks ago, and the lady who did mine, Rebekah, was absolutely amazing, patient and made me feel the most comfortable! It didn’t hurt a bit and has healed so well so far! I would definitely come here for all of your piercing AND tattoo needs! 😊💜

I had my tragus piercing done here and I had a great experience. I forgot the name of the piercer unfortunately but she was awesome! I was worried about getting this piercing done because I had so many issues with my cartilage on my other side. But it did not hurt at all. I don’t know what she did to not make it hurt at all but good on her haha. I’ve had it for about 3 days now and have had zero pain. Just some soreness when I accidentally bump it.

Super professional and fantastic artists. Matt did an amazing job on our tattoos, and Anna gave us the easiest piercing experience Ive ever had. This shop plays by the rules, which is what you want. Nothing shady, very clean. Well definitely be back.

I got my nose pierced here. I had an appointment and it was honored. The staff was so friendly. The place was extremely clean and bright. It wasn’t stuffy or smoky like some parlors I’ve visited. I went back a few months later to change my piercing and I was just as pleased this time. I didn’t have an appointment but I was able to get right in. Very professional establishment.

Had an amazing experience getting a tattoo on the bottom of my toe here almost a week ago! The shop was so clean and the staff was so nice and friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I would definitely come back here for more work. The tattoo has since completely 100% rubbed off but to be fair I did not expect it to last at all. I did not however think it would be completely gone in 5 days which is disappointing for a $60 tattoo when I followed every after care direction but that is not the shops fault. Overall great experience and amazing tattoo shop!

I’ve gotten 4 tattoos done here by bianca! Bianca is extremely professional and goes out of her way to make sure your tattoo is exactly how you want it! Not to mention, her line work is insane! I’ve never walked out of her chair unhappy. The whole staff is super friendly and the shop is super clean!!! Can’t wait to go back to Bianca for some more ink! She’s the best.

I went and got my nips pierced..she was so professional about it all. I was able to feel comfortable and relax. They are even and in my opinion very well done. Be sure to call and make an appointment i just so happen to walk in at the perfect timing. Looking at her art work I would suggest getting a tattoo as well!! I believe Ill be back for one! Very clean as well. 10/10 recommend coming here!

Matt was amazing. He does amazing work and takes his clients thoughts into consideration. I drove 4 hours to visit my daughter and her and I got matching mother daughter tattoos. Matt was able to make each one unique but still matching. He was personable and friendly and treated us like he knew us for ever. I would gladly drive back to have him ink me again.

If you are looking to get a piercing, please, and I cannot stress this enough, go to Cynical! Anna pierced my left nostril and it is super even to the one I got done on the right 2 years ago. She is super nice and reassuring and will talk you thru the whole process. The two times I have gone in she is always such a beautiful burst of energy to be around. Highly recommend! 😊

I made an appointment with B, she specializes in handwriting tattoos and script. I brought in a picture of my dads handwriting. My tattoo looks like my dad literally wrote it on my arm. B is energetic, professional, friendly, and incredibly talented. The portraits shes drawn are hanging in her room and they are out of this world. 5 star artist. Im coming back for another tattoo next month because I am so pleased.Also, Cynical is VERY clean.

I’ve been going to Cynical for years and every time, I’ve had an amazing experience. Anna is an absolute sweetheart with an amazing attitude and she’s a very skilled, patient piercer. David is funny, listens to good music and is hands down an amazing artist whether you’re looking for something with his fantastic art style or a specific design. Highly recommend!

I have been to Cynical a few times over the years to have ear piercings done and they have always done a great job. Today I went in to have my rook pierced by Anna and she did an amazing job! It was painful but she did the piercing quickly and got the jewelry in quickly. She also went over the aftercare. I have had a few piercings done so I know the drill but I appreciated her taking the time to go over everything and be thorough. I would definitely recommend Cynical to anyone looking to get a piercing. 😊

My sister was in town for one night and we wanted to get matching tattoos ( it was my first tattoo as well) we walked in and Matt was able and willing to fit us into his schedule. He was so nice and executed exactly what we were thinking!! He was so much fun to talk to and is definitely a great person to get your first tattoo with!

Anna did an amazing job with my piercings. She was happy to answer all of my questions and was super patient, making sure to explain every step. Everyone in the shop wore masks and made sure other clients did as well. Would recommend them for any piercings and tattoos!

Ive been here multiple times, both before and after the move. Got my first tattoo done here, as well as 5 different cartilage piercings, a nose piercings and 2 more tattoos. I will say Ive never had a problem with piercings, despite 2 of them being free from trainees.I wouldnt recommend this shop. My first tattoo was tiny, hard to mess up, and the artist is still one I follow and admire, thiugh they left years ago. My second tattoo was after the move, and I was expecting the same leven of professionlism i had during my first appointment. Unfortunately, i was wrong. The artist was upset I was facetiming my sister abroad (she picked out the design after all) and was rolling his eyes at me my entire appointment, as well as making disparaging comments about my weight (I will say this particular artist no longer works for this shop). A year later, I decided to give them one more shot, and since it was a simple flat black tattoo I just got a random artist. I was a little worried when the artist had no online portfolio to be found, and they told me theyd just come out of apprenticeship, but i shrugged it off. New guys gotta work too. I had an appointment first thing at opening and even arrived early. Despite this, my artist took 3 different walk in piercings before my pre-established appointment, and took around 2 hours before getting to me. They then forgot elements to my tattoo that I had to remind them of, the line work was way too deep/heavy handed, and blew out within hours of being done, and then the fill was patchy and inconsistent. Its to the point this new tattoo messes with the flow and texture of my sleeve. Its safe to say I wouldnt recommend anyone go to this shop before researching better talent elsewhere. This is a you get what you pay for type of shop. It certainly wont break the bank, but dont expect the best tattoos.

I got a piercing here a while ago. I called and asked for a price and they told me $50. When I made my appointment and arrived, they told me it was $65 - not including tip. I was little frustrated but paid anyway and got the piercing. A month goes by and I am able to take out my earring, only for me to realize the lady pierced it at an upward angle and it is very difficult for me to put in earrings to this day. It is challenging to find the end of the piercing hole. I took my sister here for her next piercing, to give them another chance figuring I just got a bad piercing. But the same thing happened to her. She paid $90 - not including tip - for a second earlobe piercing, which is just a RIDICULOUS amount for a earlobe piercing. She paid for a different earring than I did, so that probably added to the price, but she is unable to reuse this earring again because of how the earring is designed. But to pay extra for the earring for her not to be able to use it again is not right. She left her earrings in for 2 months. Today we were trying to put a different earring in, to find out her piercing is pierced at a downward angle and is very complicated to put in. In my opinion, it is unacceptable to pay that much for a piercing for it it be at an angle and to not be able to reuse the earring we paid for.

Love this place. I am fairly new to Tuscaloosa and did all my research on tattoo shops locally. I found this one and thought I would give it a try, and so glad I did! Dave is so cool and so friendly! He really took his time to make sure my tattoo was perfect. I already have another appointment this week with Dave! I highly recommend this place and Dave to anyone!!

Anna was really nice and patient. She definitely has the right personality for her job. I was charged slightly more than I was quoted on the phone but it was a good experience and still gets 5 stars from me.

Just got a piercing done here tonight and my friend got a tattoo. The women was so helpful answering all my questions and made the experience fun. The pricing was also really reasonable I was shocked because most other places were giving me much higher prices for what i wanted. The whole place was very clean. Definitely will be going back for any other piercings or tattoos.

Super unprofessional. Refuses to take appointments online or over the phone. I was informed by a current employee (at the time of this review), that the owner is very unethical in his business practices and is constantly hiring sub par talent. AVOID

The inside is clean, but the staff is not very friendly at all. I went there to get a simple, small cross tattooed on my wrist. My artist could not even make the two simple lines straight. And when I came back for the touch up a few days later, she took a picture and said it was some of her best work! Definitely would NOT recommend.

I have to fully recommend Cynical Tattoos! I ended up not getting a tattoo because Anna suggested that I dont get one. It is a long story but she told me that the tattoo would not work for the reason I was wanting. She suggested Henna or Jagua. They could have easily taken my $50 (minimum fee) but they were ethical enough to not take my money.

I have to give them a thumbs down... I paid a $100 deposit and then lost my appointment card and I literally had just moved here and couldnt remember where I made the appointment. When I figured out where it was and went back in to explain they refused to apply that amount towards my tattoo. POOF!!! One hundred dollars gone!!!! I will not be getting my tattoo from them nor recommending them to anyone. Seems like a con to me.

Absoutely AMAZING. This was my fourth tattoo and also a cover up of my first tattoo. It was my best experience getting a tattoo done. David was so so great and did exactly what I wanted, I was pretty difficult since it was a cover up and I wanted so much. He did it for a super low price. The other shop that I was thing of going to told me 200-250 ( for a 3in by 2in tattoo)He only charged me 80 and added some color into it, which made it look great! Hes got a super light hand and does amazing work. Cynical Tattoos itself is super clean, probably one of the cleanest shops Ive gone into. Im so thankful to the staff here for dealing with my confusion and demands, they did an great job and I will continue to promote them versus their competitors.

As a minor, Anna made me feel comfortable and welcomed. She was very educated and provided great customer service. Amazing lip piercing.

The lady pierced my daughters septum and ots not straight and charged my daughter $65 for this and she rushed us out the door. I would not go here unless you like crooked pier.

SHOP WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE FOR PIERCINGSWent here to get my industrial pierced, and the best way to describe how this piercing looks on my body is to say that there is NO cartilage that was pierced on the top end. All that is keeping the bar in place is a very thin layer of skin. This piercing looks absolutely awful and I am disappointed with these people.

My daughter and I both got tattoos. My first, her second. I got my mom’s “mom” in her handwriting (as well using her numbers from a recipe card) for her birth and death years, my daughter got a tiara in memory of my mom. Ryan was great!!!

Came their to get a tattoo, staff was friendly but didn’t provide me any information on the down deposit policy they got so when I couldn’t make it and I wanted my 40.00 dollars back that I put down they said it was non-refundable and I wish that he/she would have told me about that. Went on there website and didn’t find anything on nor did they have anything posted for it on their wall.

I drive a 1000 miles to alabama and i always get a tattoo or a piercing I came in today and get turned down for a piercing change and I had contacted them multiple times before I made the trip.

Overpriced and manager has a very cocky Im the best at everything attitude very um yeah I didnt care for the experience the artwork is good if u wanna spend a arn and a leg just not worth the prices they ask for
