Everyone I met at the shop was super friendly and had great energy. Had a great experience getting tattooed by Kevin he did an awesome job definitely my favorite tattoo and will be going back to him in the future

Kayna at the front desk is super friendly and very helpful. I got a flash tattoo done by Kevin and it was a great experience. He’s very nice, professional, and has some excellent color work. Will definitely be getting a bigger fuller piece by him soon. 10/10!

My wife and I have fallen in love with this place. The people here are amazing and VERY talented. Realism, black/white, bold colors, coverups, small, big they can do it all. The vibe is chill and unique. Ive definitely been looking for a good shop in the Clarksville area and this is it. My wife and I both were able to walk in without an appointment. Kevin did my first tattoo and Jon has since done my second tattoo. Kevin did a lightning bolt tattoo on my right forearm as a walk-in and did a good job in a short amount of time. Jon did my hand tattoo as an appointment session and was awesome! I would highly recommend Jon. He was very polite and professional. He did awesome work on my hand and it turned out really well. Hand tattoos take skill and patience which is what Jon has. The pricing is reasonable and Ill definitely be going back to see Jon again soon!

Highly suggest this place, I’ve gotten three tattoos done here by Kevin and they all have turned out great! Can’t wait to come and get more in the future. Very nice people and a pretty chill environment.

Kevin was super patient and kind. He is sympathetic for his clients. His work is gorgeous and creative. The studio is friendly and welcoming. I plan on returning for a cover on my foot tattoo. Highly recommend!

Referred to Hell or High Water by a friend for my first tattoo. Got in there and Kevin knew he could do what I was looking for. He drew up my stencil, ask me what I like and if I wanted to change anything, made some very helpful suggestions and got to work. I’m so happy with how it came out and I can’t wait for my next one. Don’t waste your time going to this funky tattoo shop. The guy was hateful from the moment my sister and I walked in the door. It was an inconvenience for him that we came in asking for a tattoo. Even though it says walk-ins welcomed & they are open till 8; he wanted to get mad bc he was “about to close” when we came in at 6:30. His tone was completely repugnant and unprofessional , and i would NEVER recommend this shop. I would never let someone with a terrible attitude put something permanent on my body. 0/10 experience

These were my first tattoos at this shop and I am super impressed with the whole experience.Had an appointment with Kevin today at 1 for 2 different tattoos. Everyone in there was super chill and friendly and helped me out with whatever questions or recommendations they had for placement, color, etc.I have been looking for a solid artist to do a lot of the work I have planned and I think I found the one with Kevin.I highly recommend him to anyone who has had alot of pop culture plans but just hasn’t found the right artist yet🔥

This place is super fun and quirky, love the atmosphere! All staff are fun, kind, and courteous. David did two of my tattoos for Friday the 13th and did an amazing job!! Will definitely be returning for more work ❤️

Always a wonderful experience at Hell or Highwater Tattoo. My husband and I have been tattooed at the shop many times and have not been let down once. The shop is super clean, the atmosphere is inviting, and it is filled with friendly artists that love what they do. I came into the shop to get a piece done that had a lot of personal meaning. I worked with Kevin and I could not recommend him enough, his work and style is amazing. You will not be disappointed and promise you on this. 100% sure Ill be back after making my 4 hour drive to come see him.

My wife recommended Kevin based off her experience and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Great work, great atmosphere, very modern with the latest tech equipment, no attitudes in the shop whatsoever. I came in for the get what you get (gumball machine) . I was with David he made the experience wonderful. The tattoo came out so good and is so unique. The atmosphere of the whole shop is very laid back and fun. The shop was really clean. I would recommend this shop and David to anyone. I will definitely be going back.

I got my 1st tattoo done here and at 1st I had really bad anxiety. I did not know if i could do it or not .. but when I talked to the Artist Kevin I had more Confidence with what I wanted he made feel like it was a good idea. So, I booked an appointment . The day of my appointment I was scared I got there and all the sudden I could just relax. My appointment went amazing . If you are looking for experienced tattoo artist who are amazing at black and grey and even full color, this is the shop for you! Kevin did a killer piece on my husbands leg. He seriously knocked it out of the park!

First off, Kayna (forgive me if I misspelled) was so kind and nice! Jon did my husbands tattoo and Marcus did mine. We were both incredibly satisfied and happy with the outfit. We will definitely be back.

I cannot recommend Kevin @tattrietattoo enough! Going into a tattoo shop can be intimidating but not at HOHW. They are a group of incredibly laid back and friendly people. I had a tattoo that was done previously at another shop out of state but due to a reaction to the bandage used on top of rushed work, it needed some help. Kevin talked to me about it at a previous appointment with him and offered to completely redo it. The day of my appointment I didn’t know what to expect design wise but he knocked it completely out of the park. This was a super special tattoo for me with a big story and he made it look incredible. He was so easy to talk to and seemed like he genuinely cared, something hard to come by these days. Overall, I had a great experience with this whole crew and I can’t wait to get more work done here in the future!

Hell or High Water is the BEST shop around Fort Campbell, hands down. I have gotten 4 out of my 5 from them and it has been great quality, great pricing, and a great experience. Kevin did my last tattoo and he absolutely nailed it! I couldnt really vision what I wanted and he took it in stride. Highly recommend the guys here!! You wont have a better experience, and you wont be sad you spent your money here. LOVE THEM.

My mom and I decided to get matching tattoos on a whim. They were able to get us in and provided excellent service! Kevin is a great artist. He’s pretty knowledgeable and definitely passionate about his work! My mom’s eager to get some more work done!

I started a sleeve with Jon and it has been an awesome experience. I sent him references pictures, gave him an idea of what I wanted and he went above and beyond in bringing my idea to life. He was patient, open minded and very professional when it came time to tattoo. His work, time and dedication is definitely worth the price. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tattoo, whether it be a single piece or an entire sleeve.

Besides all the above, everyone friendly, so laid-back. I absolutely enjoyed my artist David Grams. He is very personable, and is an awesome artist. When finished, I was and still in aawww. I will come back. David Grams is my artist.. love my tatt. At store in about 7 minutes 3 compliments ☺ right away. I am proud of my tatt. I do love the fact that took great care of my husband due to his disability. Kanya is just the sweetheart and her husband John is a good man. They both are honest kind people who make you feel at home. I have to say, that this is the right place for my husband and I. I do highly recommend them, they have gone out of their way to make sure your visit is a wonderful experience. Also they do care about the tattoos placed on your body. Thank you guys, so much.

We LOVE this tattoo shop! Jon has done work on my entire left arm over several sessions. My fist session was back in 2018 and now I won’t have anyone else tattoo me. My husband and I even moved 4 hours away but we still travel to see him for our tattoos. THANK YOU, for amazing service and excellent tattoos!!

Kevin was the only one available and it really wanted Jon but he wasnt available. I really just wanted to reschedules but Kevin insisted that I go to him. He wasnt kind and made me feel like saying no wasnt an option. He came off as rude and made me feel like I had to see him. He was as narcissistic and I upfront and told him no and left. Rude and wouldnt let me speak and insisted he knew better than me. I saw his work and Jons and I was set on Jon but he was so rude l left he started making fun of me. Horrible customer service!

Friendly Environment. Had great time joking with the staff. Kevin was my artist and did an outstanding job. Dont waste your time or money at another business. Definitely get your moneys worth and a great quality tattoo.

I can’t express how happy I was a few months back and still am with not only the performance of getting my tattoo but the whole time I was constantly being comforted and everyone continued to make sure I was okay asked if I needed a drink etc, but before and after the tattoo session the constant cutting up and cracking jokes creating a warm homey environment feeling like you’ve known everyone your whole life, on top of keeping a clean professional work space you will NEVER catch it dirty or even a speck of dusk on any of the statues hanging around. If I could rate this place 100+ stars I would. You would have to go and get a tat to understand how this shop works. I love it ! ❤️

I have had quite a few tattoos done in this fine establishment. I know what a bad tattoo is, Ive had one for many years, but after getting some work done here, I talked to Jon about my options. Not only was he able to fix what many local shops told me couldnt be fixed he made it better than I could have imagined.Top-notch artists, and a fantastic experience every time. I have plans for a lot more ink, and wouldnt think of going anywhere else!

I went to Jon at HOHW with a crazy idea of a tattoo I was 100% sure he had never done. It’s something that was very sentimental to me and my wife representing our awesome children and 2 that we had lost. He took every single detail I gave to him and turned it into something my wife and I will cherish for the rest of our lives. I don’t know if he or anyone at this shop realizes what his awesome work means to us. He came up with an original drawing of his own with my ideas and desires laid out on paper for me the minute I walked in the door for my appointment. To anyone looking for original artwork and an atmosphere better than any tattoo shop I walked into in Clarksville or Oak Grove, I HIGHLY recommend HOHW! They wanted my business the minute I walked in the door and worked hard to earn and keep my business. I won’t walk into another shop again in this area for any of my tattoo work. My family will be using Jon from here on out as well!

I have had a great experience at Hell or High Water Tattoo. I gave Jon a few pictures and told him I wanted a patriotic sleeve to represent me retiring from the Military with 20 plus years of service. I gave him free reign and he has knocked it out the park. I absolutely love it so far. He is a great artist. The shop is clean and has a laid back and friendly atmosphere. Super, clean and professional shop. I was greated as soon as I walked in. Even though they had appointments already booked for the majority of the day on a Saturday they were able to quickly squeeze me in for a ring tattoo that several other shops in the area told me wasnt possible. Kevin did an amazing job, and I will recommend only this shop, and I will not go anywhere else as long as Im living in the local area.

I gave Kevin a reference and it was a VERY SIMPLE small design. I wanted it done in blue but he didn’t think it would work with my skin tone. He said that using color would be an up charge for my skin. Never have I heard of a shop charging more based on skin color. They don’t change the price for people with paler skin tones. The fee was waived in the end, but the price shouldn’t change to begin with or even be mentioned especially due to skin color. It was only just that the prices remain the same for people of color. There was clear discrimination and after paying in cash I was told it was non-refundable. I tried to be optimistic since he waived the up charge and relax. I even tried making small talk with Kevin and joking with him but was shut down and met with sarcasm and silence. I felt like he was trying to make me feel uncomfortable because I called him out on the unfairness. He didn’t even let the stencil dry completely to transfer onto my skin all the way so that he can properly and precisely trace the tattoo. Half of the stencil was faded...and he didn’t care, he just went in. He was very heavy handed and I screamed and squirmed. He did not stop! I kept jolting because of the pain and cried out. He said, “ can you hold still?” I attempted to respond with, “Can you slow down?” But he pressed the gun deeper in my skin that I couldn’t finish my sentence or make out legible words. When he did finally pause, I cried out, “That’s enough!” He went right back in on my wrist. He was purposefully trying to hurt me. The owner and the rest of the shop was laughing. They thought it was a big joke. This is not a right of passage, when someone tells you to stop, you stop. Even if my comments about the fairness and pricing offended Kevin, he had no right and no reason to retaliate and hurt me. When someone forcefully drags a needle across your skin, after you beg them to stop and they don’t it is aggravated assault. I am a survivor of domestic violence, so the whole situation caused me to shut down. It was very traumatic. I couldn’t do anything because if I moved I would’ve been scarred and I felt helpless. Instead of pacing and taking his time after realizing I was in pain, he sped up to get me out of his chair. Took him less than 10 minutes.. The lines were crooked and didn’t connect properly. The circle wasn’t even a circle.I left out just as quickly as he skimmed through my tattoo. I felt unwelcomed and I didn’t complain to management directly after because the whole experience was triggering and they made feel like I was different. I’m totally bummed and I keep staring at it and crying. It’s permanent. Total waste of $100. My FIRST tattoo and it looks nothing like how I wanted. And Kevin knew I didn’t like it. I literally stared at it for 3 minutes straight after he wrapped it up.I should have called the police right after the incident. I should’ve had the police pull up the cameras and had Kevin arrested for assault at evening. Depressing. There were a lot of red flags and looking back at it I should’ve just listened to my gut instinct and left after he refused to do the tattoo in blue the way I originally wanted it, especially after Kevin’s comments about charging me more because my skin. Me being an optimistic person I assumed that he still would’ve done a decent job. The owner’s response to my original review was very dismissive, condescending and very unprofessional. So I decided to truthfully tell about my FULL experience there. No matter how nice you are, sadly some people are just prejudice. And I refuse to return and patron a shop whose owners are ok with how poorly their employees treat customers who look like me. I’ve already made appointments to get laser removal for this tattoo. A hard life lesson to trust your instinct.

My name is David from Nashville. I went to Hell or Highwater tattoo polar in Clarksville, TN. Kevin and David are the men to see. I wanted a couple of tattoos to represent myself and my daughter that’s a marine and they did so awesome that I have been back three times already.

This was the worst experience me or my girlfriend have had at a Tattoo shop. We went in on a Thursday afternoon (April 1) to get my girlfriends nose pierced. Immediately after entering the shop the feeling was like we were not welcome, the lady at the front desk was the only kind and patient person in the whole place at the time. The piercer and another gentleman who worked there were picking on her as we were trying to pay (it was the kind that was not appropriate for having customers in the shop) After paying for the piercing (which was advertised for 20$ but charged us 40) the piercer was rude and extremely unprofessional. After a brief interaction and being told not to talk, my girlfriend got pieced. The man then got up and went to the back, blood still running down her face. They didn’t even tell her how to clean it or take care of it, not to mention they never showed us that they cleaned the tools (even after asking). This was honestly the worst place I have ever been and will not be returning for anything. I strongly recommend that you go other places looking for a tattoo or piercing.

Kev Tat hooked me up. Hes quite the professional. Honestly, from my perception, every client seemed to be pleased with their services with every artist. Definitely going to get more ink here.

This tattoo was done by Kevin. I asked for a medical star w type 1 diabetes tattoo. I specifically asked him to draw something up that was unique. He said he’s been doing this for 13 years, but somehow he has no idea what he was doing. I asked him to draw something up before hand. He admitted that it slipped his mind so he did it there on the spot, using Google, nothing original at all, and I trusted he could use Google well enough to find the emt symbol. I have anxiety and felt pressure to just accept it bc that’s just how it is for me. When he wrote the letters they were upside down and I tend to switch letters around so I didn’t realize it. He even told the owner that he thought I wrote it wrong, but never asked for clarification. I’ve met with kevin before where he did do a draw up for me before the appt. I also paid a deposit more than a week in advance. He blames his poor organization skills. Don’t go to kevin if you want something planned, he can’t be bothered to change his creative process

Best shop around. All the artists are phenomenal. It’s a very clean, professional, affordable, and unbiased establishment. Also, Jonathan Capen is such an amazing artist and business owner that I couldn’t help myself and I had to marry him.
