Been going to Skin Deep since 17-18 years old and it never disappoints!! The artists are always amazing. Shout out to Rodney for creating the start of my anime piece with the OG Luffy from one piece! Been going to him since his start with skin deep and always provides excellent service!

Had an appointment with Rodney Savage, great appointment, paid a lot of attention to detail, line work was great and super light handed, didn’t feel the tattoo half the time

I had a 7 hour session with Al 8/24/24 and it did not meet my expectations not even a little bit. Previous to 8/24 session we had a consultation, I showed him a picture of what I wanted and was clear that I wanted a replica of it or better, better being if you can incorporate even better details to a already superb piece of tattoo art. He smiled with confidence and assured me it could be done. Upon arriving 8/24 we had to make adjustments on the blueprint because it did not align with my expectations. After some critiquing(because I was concerned)he explained that it’s apart of an incomplete process and I will get what I want. Because I did ask before and during, “is this going to come together as what I want because it does not look like the picture?”he said yes. Now as we getting closer to completion he sayin”we gotta see if we have time to do the extra stuff” but the “extra stuff”is apart of the art I asked/paying for. Now that were done and my tatt is incomplete because it’s not what I wanted,(its not the same nor is it better)I’m told I have to book a whole separate$600-$800 session and “maybe” he can give me what I want. I paid and left but once I studied the differences in what I want and what I got I became upset. I respectfully addressed it and he(Al)attempted to gaslight me by putting words in my mouth in an attempt to make it seem like I was confused, incoherent of our consult/conversations and didn’t know what I wanted. Far from the truth of who I am as a person. I’m clear and direct about what I want in anything and if I ever need clarity on anything I will ask for it. I thought the art I wanted would be easy for him beings though he does portraits/morals, which was my purpose for choosing him as a artist because I DID NOT WANT FINE LINES, I told him that at consultation!! And yep, you guessed it, line tattoo of my art is what I got. For what ever reason he did not share the expected skill I paid for with me, or maybe he just wasn’t prepared due to him forgetting our convo and my requests(&whatever else) and tried to divert blame onto me. I can’t believe I sat 7hours in a chair for the work I got done. It’s like he made it a 7hr job so I could cut a 7hr check, But was too lazy and unprepared to put in the work of the desired expectations. Crafty for sure, I feel GOT.ADDITION: even if my word play of “I want the same tattoo or better” left room for his artistic interpretation I definitely did tell Al that I did not want of care for line tattoos, I want realism. We both agreed that the reference was not a fine line tattoo and it was confirmed that I did not want a tattoo of visible lines. Before Al put the needle to my skin I told him I did not care for the design and he said “I don’t know how tattoos work(I don’t)and the sketch can not have all the details in it, I then asked “so will my tattoo look like the picture I showed you?” He said yes. I asked him the same question during the tattoo process and he said yes. It was when we were almost finished he told me I would have to book another session to get the additions to my tattoo which is what makes the tattoo I asked for complete. When asked if I like it, my response was “it’s nice but it is not what I asked for.” He brushed it off and said “well you still have a beautiful piece of art”.Before I left I told Al in front of the other artist and client that he needs a better system by sending sketches in advance so they can be tweaked and decided upon, his response was he does not have time for that. After my experience I spoke to a tattoo artist who told me sending in sketches prior to session is apart of the process in which I paid for. Jose thank you for taking the time out your day to address my concerns in an attempt to maybe rectify the situation but the damage is done. You were not there and justifying the way Al handled me and the situation while invalidating my experience is a lack of integrity and disingenuous. If I was fulfilled with the work what would be my purpose of lying about not being satisfied??

Walked in for a double helix piercing and left a happy customer!Austin was so kind and gentle, he walked me through the whole process and made me feel like he really cared that I was happy with the placement. I couldnt believe how little it hurt and Im absolutely in love with how it turned out! Cant wait to go back and get some fresh jewelry when its time to downsize!

I’ve been getting tattooed by Rodney for years, he is very professionally, friendly, and on top of that does AMAZING work! He is very detailed from scheduling to the art work he does. He takes his time and makes sure you love your final piece, I just got a tattoo this last past Wednesday by Rodney and we were schedule for 12:30, he came early cleaned and prepped his area before beginning my tattoo. He made sure I was comfortable before starting and even throughout my tattoo session. Even when I thought I wanted to quit he helped me through it and I’m glad he did because I absolutely love my art work. He didn’t mind if I needed a break or two from the time frame we were sitting. To me he is just the all time best! I can’t wait to get more he’s literally the only tattoo artist I go to now because the quality he provides. I recommend anybody who wants a nice peace of art that goes on your body forever to hit Rodney up.

It took me a long time to find someone who could do cover ups, color and detail on small wrists, with their own talented artistic flavor to elevate what I envisioned. Rodney showed up on my Insta and I followed their work and learned their ability to utilize color and detail on a variety of spaces.They worked with me every step of the way, listening to my needs, and respecting my capacity. During the session I felt comfortable and I was able to fully trust them to ink me the way I wanted to be inked.This was an extremely personal and healing choice. Im grateful Rodney was the artist to color my vision with their talent. 10/10!

Throughout the years I’ve seen many tattoo artist but I found the one here in Skin Deep! He’s DOPE, and really love what he does. I love that fact that he’ll seat with you to go over the ideas I had for a tattoo and bring his own vision and turns it into a masterpiece. Thanks Alder I LOVE my “JJK” tattoo.

My fiancé and I were lucky enough to enter and WIN Rodney aka @nothumantats 16 hour 2 day raffle from the CH tattoo convention!! This was seriously the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had! I came in with an idea of what I wanted he took that and made it into a whole cohesive piece!! I love the additions he thought of along the way! He really listened to everything I did and didn’t want! I couldn’t be any happier with the final result! The aftercare program he recommended is a game changer! Can’t wait to recommend everyone to check him out! Also the shop was extremely well maintained, clean and everyone was super friendly definitely going back!!!

My man surprised me with an appointment since Ive been wanting to get an industrial piercing for a while.This shop is great ! Customer service 5 star. My guy is in a power W/C , they have a portable ramp so he was able to come in an watch.If you want a piercing and excellent service go check out Austin.

Austin is an amazing piercer, got my nose pierced a few months back but he answered every question and was really a sweet guy! The nose piercing was quick and wasn’t so painful. Also, Austin was clean and the pricing of the piercing and piece of jewelry were overall great compared to other shops that were asking for more. Don’t feel shy to ask Austin questions about aftercare, he knows his stuff and visit him!!

I reached out to Rodney after seeing his work from a friend. I told him I just wanted a tat to commemorate my mom and gave him all the creative control. It came out amazing! Hands down the best tattoo I have. We decided on a design before I came in and he was flexible with my schedule. I cannot wait to book another one with him!

I went to Rodney @nothumantatsto-IG to do a cover-up and he did beyond great with my tattoo. He is the only tattoo artist I go to he goes above and beyond for all my tattoos. He understood that I wanted to get as much done even through pain lol. He’s very professional and very courteous .

Got my septum pierced here today by Austin!He was friendly and professional! I was super nervous but as soon as I sat down in the chair knew I was in good hands! Love my new piercing!!

I’ve come to Skin Deep a total of 3 times and have been satisfied each Visit. I had my navel and nose pierced by @im_a_piercer. Both were fast and painless and done with new needles. Both of my tattoos were done by @yalem_art and I was highly satisfied with the outcome. The energy in the shop is amazing and you will feel comfortable getting your services done.

Amazing tattoo shop. Always so clean and welcoming. Both artist I’ve been to have done AMAZING work. Most recently saw Will and he was just great. Rodney is a master at cover ups. I had a rose on my arm that I outgrew and wanted something fresh. I sent Rodney some pictures for ideas I had, and he created a piece that I love. I had a great experience. I called ahead for a walk-in nose piercing and they were super accommodating. The person who was at the front desk was really professional and answered all my questions, had me sign routine consent forms. They’re cash only but have an ATM conveniently inside. The piercing artist, Austin was amazing. Again very professional, provided good instruction of what to expect and follow-up care. Confident in his skill. Everything was clean/sterile and well prepped. Couldn’t have been better. Thanks again Skin Deep!

Really had a great experience here. The artist (Savage) was very kind and had a calm energy. He’s clearly passionate about he’s work and really cares about the cleaning/sanitary aspect of getting a tattoo. Plus he’s a great artist, will definitely be back!

Walked into this shop today and got seen for a faux rook piercing right away. Austin was great! Super clean and professional. I was unsure of the placement of my piercing so he mapped out the other piercings I wanted in the future so I could see the perfect spot- very accommodating. The prices are not bad and Austin also mentioned they change jewelry out for free which is a bonus! I will be going here again in the future.

I never write reviews but I am writing this as soon as I left the facility… Austin is amazing with piercings, he changed out my nose ring in 30 seconds flat and it was literally painless. Would go back here anytime I need my nose piercing changed even though I live almost an hour away.

Went in on a Saturday for a quick piercing without an appointment, was greeted quickly and told there were a few people ahead of me. Filled out some paperwork and within 10 minutes was in the back room getting my piercing. As a dentist, I felt the piercer was professional, asked important and relevant questions to keep me safe, and was very clean (washed his hands thoroughly, used gloves). The whole process was quick and relatively painless. Everyone in the shop was super nice and professional. No issues with my piercing so far nor do I anticipate any. Highly recommend!

All I can say is @yalem_art (on Instagram) is the man to go to for all your tattoos. It took a while of searching for the right artist and once I seen his work I knew it was him! From booking the appointment, all the way until getting the tattoo he was there answering any questions and concerns I had. I gave him my idea and his imagination went to work! He is hands down the most creative person I’ve ever met and his work shows the passion, patience, and persistence he puts into his work. I will 100% be returning for him. His work speaks for itself! Great atmosphere everything is always clean new and opened in front of the client. Austin is very knowledgeable about his craft. Had many piercings and in my experience people tend to blame the piercer for the poor after care habits of themselves. Tattoo experience was also great and excellent prices. Had all my tattoos by them and have been a loyal customer since their opening. Owner is fair kind and friendly and always make the experience enjoyable.

Austin is the best piercer in philly hands down. he has pierced my vertical labret, philtrum, tongue, both eyebrows, bridge - twice, belly button, removed 2 of my dermals (done elsewhere), and gave me a dermal on my forehead (which is a year old now & looks good as the day i got it), over the last 3 years. he is always super sterile, professional, and fast!! in a great way!! he makes the experience great & his work is phenomenal. he is so experienced and everything he does looks amazing & heals soooo well.

I dont think Ill be going to anyone else for my tattoos. Savage was super nice and made me feel comfortable. This was my first time and Im happy to have such a great artist.

I just got my nose pierced here today. The wait wasn’t long at all. I forgot the piercers name already but he’s a very nice man. He took the time to explain to me everything that he was going to do and answered all of my questions. I loved my experience here.

I just recently got my double helix (cartilage peircing on the ear) done with Serena. She was extremely nice and professional. The piercing was quick and painless and she was very informative about after care. I was extremely happy with the results. And you can’t beat the low prices!

The place itself is great with good staff .Rodney Savage or NotHumanTats is literally a great artist that actually works with you on ideas you might have for your tattoo . Reasonable and fair prices for what you want done and where you want to get it at . I’m on my 8th or 9th tattoo that was done by him lol next one is coming soon

Got a tattoo yesterday from @yalem_art of a concept I wanted for a while now. He was professional and really down to earth. The shop was a chill environment too

I got my septum pierced here and I wasnt there for 10 minutes! I came came a few weeks later and got my first tattoo. It was a rib piece and really painful due to the placement. However, my artist was very patient and the tattoo came out beautifully despite my shaking. Im going back for my second tattoo. I would totally recommend this place!

If I could give them zero stars I would. Literally the worst shop Ive ever been to. I got a dermal from here and it rejected so I went back to get a surface piercing. Austin wanted to use the same exact hole from my last piercing . I asked him not to and he said it wasnt going to be exactly there... well he lied and did it anyway. And he went too deep and used the wrong size bar for my piercing and it dug into my skin . I had to get it surgically removed. Then I find out they they use cheap jewelry that is actually changing colors and I only had it for a week. If he was more concerned with his customers as he was with using a new go pro ( which he recorded me without my permission) then maybe he could do a better job. He is cocky and he thinks he knows everything. They claim to give you south street work with Philly prices. Which is straight bs. Please go to a any other shop except this one. Its a waste of money and youll be stuck with a noticeable ugly scar.

The piercing experience I had was good but when I got a tattoo it was a total different experience. The guy was rude and drawn my draft crooked and wasnt going to let me look at it before I got it. After I told him I wanted to see it before hand I realized it was super crooked. He was cocky and lack the talent to back it. If you get a piercing thats ok but reconsider a tattoo

Both my friend and I got piercings done by one of the girls in the shop. I can’t remember her name. Long story short, my friends belly ring started rejecting because it was not pierced properly so she took it out. My two piercings are in the wrong place as told to me by two other piercing shops and now I’m jumping through hoops to possibly save them. I only came to this shop because it was recommended to me by two friends...maybe I caught them on a bad day or maybe not. The low prices are great but I’d rather have a piercing I love and want to show off than hide and hope for the best. Definitely not worth it

This shop is clean, friendly, and the work that comes out of this shop ceases to amaze me everytime I get new art work done.

I love skin deep tattoo. I have come to this studio twice, once for a helix and conch piercing, and another time for a tattoo. I saw Austin for my piercings, and he was relatable, kind, and also honest about what would look good and what would work best for my anatomy. Early september, I got a dragon tattoo with some flowers, however I felt the tattoo, while beautiful, felt incomplete. I reached out to Rodney Savage and asked if hed be willing to help me decorate the piece more by adding a flame halo and some kind of shading with the flowers. Not only was Rodney respectable, he was considerate, willing to accommodate my vision, and not to mention extremely PATIENT! I probably asked him to redraw/add things to the design about four or five times, and each time he happily worked to reach my expectation. Truly outstanding. Will definitely be back again.

I dont know how sterile the jewelry is since its in little baggies I thought starter jewelry came in a package and the young guy isnt licensed he just grew up doing piercings but if youre looking for a cheap piercing and youre really familiar with piercings and you know how to care for it than you might be in the right place I got my septum done here and so far I think its healing okay I was told to use dial liquid and I did even though its advised not to and it healed it good since I think I was starting to develop an infection I still have crusties around my ring (2months in) and its a tiny bit Lopsided but nothing noticeable to anyone unless your directly up underneath my nose but once I change it to a hoop I wont even be able to tell.

They guy that was gona do our tattoos gave us an appt for 12pm. At 11am we reached out to him to let him know that we wore on our way. He text us back and said that he was having car problems and asked if we can change the appt for 2pm. We got to the shop at 2pm. He was not there. We called and text him he did not reply. The people from the shop called and text him he did not reply. We waited until 3pm and he did not arrive. We decided to do our tattoos with another guy that was there who was nice enjoy to apologize for the other guy that stood us up. While we wore almost done with the tattoo the guy ku that was the one who stood us up decided to get there at 4:30pm walked in didnt apologize or anything. Started a whole conversation with his co worker about how he got home at 6am and was sleeping all day. Then he tells his co-worker that he saw all there calls and text but was to tired to answer there calls. Then decided to go back out side and chat with his friends. Not even caring that there was other ppl there waiting for him (with an appt). Not professional at all. We wore referred by a friend. He might be good but if he is not respectful of ppl time all that talent goes out the door. irresponsible, very immature.

Austin was an absolute joy to work with. Will def be back here for any piercing or tattoo needs!

This place is a joke please for the ladies do not get your tattoo their, you will never get what you want I took a picture of what I wanted he did the total apposite half way done he tells me he wants to do his own thing is not the way I wanted.the colors are hot mess .So I Went To PHILLY INK and got it redone n different color it looks amazing .if you get and appointment at 1believe me when I tell you youre be waiting at least 4hours please dont pay til the job is done once they got your money your not. Iimportant any more .

I would def recommend. I got my nose and tragus done here ( different times, but after the first time I just had to come back) the process is quick and in and out the door. The vibes here are chill and the artist/receptionists are mad cool.

Got my tragus piercing over a month ago. I’m extremely allergic to nickel. I asked 3 times if everything was nickel free. Of course I was told yes. Fast forward to now , i just had to take it out. Hasn’t healed at all due to me being allergic to nickel & the jewelry not being nickel free. Also the piercer was cocky and ignorant. Def unprofessional.

Only place I have gone to for piercings, since 2014. They are great; I have not one complain with them. I have even brought in a few people to get pierced up. I plan on getting my first tattoo there, soon.

Today I went in to get my septum pierced. The staff was courtesy, informative, and accommodating! I had an amazing experience. And they accept credit cards now, which is always a PLUS!

They did my philtrum piercing and it was quick! Everyone was very friendly and humorous, made me feel welcome. I’ll definitely be back for more.

I Went With My Sister To Get My Nose Pierced And He End Up Giving Me The Wrong Piercing Piece Instead Of The Starter Piercing L Shape Piercing Piece And After 4 Days The Piercing Sunk Into My Nose And Got Stuck I Instagramed The Guy Who Pierced My Nose And He Looked At My Message And Never Replied. Im Glad It Eventually Became Unscrewed Unknowingly And Fell Out Because My Nose Started To Get An Infection.
