Alex Hunter did my tattoos. I was initially disappointed when I arrived to get mine done that he hadn’t finished drawing out the design we agreed upon when I first met with him months earlier. For approximately 25 minutes I had to wait for him to finish drawing the design.After that, very impressed. He created a beautiful look to cover up and update my bicep tattoo. I really love what he did with the flower designs. He also updated my fading finger tattoo and gave me a new one that had my children’s names as the design.Very good work from Alex.

I’ve been here a few times and everyone is always super nice and easy to work with. Jay and Alex are absolutely fantastic. I love my pieces and always feel so comfortable. Can’t recommend here enough, the quality of the work is second to none.

This studio is very clean and their staff is very professional and friendly, I knew the wait was going to be worth it. Jeremy Utley created a design to incorporate what i already had 20 years ago and looks it looks fantastic. I needed an artist that specialized in realism and he did a great job. I had a Polynesian design with a realistic beach theme. Love it, nice job Jeremy

I had made an appointment in January and August was the first available, but it was 1000000% worth the wait. Best tattoo Ive ever gotten, the work Jay Wheeler did is better than I could have imagined. The staff is friendly, the shop is ridiculous clean, and as you see from my dog portrait their work speaks for itself.

This tattoo shop was absolutely amazing. I got my tattoo done by Aura and we did a 7 hour tattoo. Not only is she one of the most talented artists ive EVER seen but she was super sweet and accommodating as well. Highly highly recommend this shop and would love to have another session with her.

Ive always wanted a tattoo but was always nervous about getting one and not liking it. I finally decided to get one in memory of my parents. Jeremy was amazing through the whole process. I love my tattoo and looking forward to my next one in May. Thank you for the amazing tattoo Jeremy.

He’s also a cool dude which made sitting through an 8 hour tattoo a lot easier.The shop is clean and all of the staff are friendly. Absolutely amazing experience all around. Very clean studio and wonderful staff. Answered and returned calls promptly and were always polite and helpful.I had the absolute pleasure of being tattooed by Aura Dalian. Its my first large tattoo and first that wasnt just picked from a book. My concept was thigh placement of an owl in the colors of a Supernova and a fox in the colors of Jupiter representing my kids. Aura knocked it out of the park. She showed me the design she had come up with, and it was better than I had imagined. Perfection. We had set aside one full day plus another 3 hours the next month. However, Aura was able to complete the work start to finish in 7 hours. We chatted the entire appointment, and time just flew by.Note: I spent a few years following Auras work online and finally took the leap of submitting my concept to get on her books, and I was fortunate enough to have Aura select it on my second attempt. When I called to schedule the appointment, she was booking about 8 months out. So, if you are looking for a quick turn appointment, the process likely isnt for you. If you are willing to invest the time to get on Auras books, you will be working with the best! I can only recommend her!

I highly recommend this studio, Ben Petee exceeded my expectations and did an excellent job on my dragon tattoo. He is an extremely talented artist and was able to draw the tattoo according to my expectations. He even had some awesome recommendations for improving my original tattoo photo. My tattoo healed really nicely with his care and recommended products. I am really pleased with his work and would go back for sure.

The shop is very clean and the design on the inside was pretty cool with all sorts of art on the walls done by the artists there. I had an appointment with Barb Jones this past weekend and cant say enough about her as an artist and a person. The tattoo she did on me took 5 hours but didnt seem that long because of the great conversations we had. The tattoo came out AMAZING, Barb is an excellent artist and I highly recommend checking out her work on Instagram. I will definitely be booking with her again in the future.....thanks again Barb!!

I have only had work done by one of the owners, Aaron Ruby. Fantastic work! I have given him pieces to put on me, and most recently let him design up a half sleeve for me. He did such an excellent job. I highly recommend him, or anyone at this studio

Aura and the staff at North Main Tattoo Studio are the absolute best! The atmosphere in the studio is calming and very clean with interesting and cool artwork to look at while you wait. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and my tattoo artist Aura is absolutely amazing!! She is extremely talented and super personable, very friendly and easy to talk with. She explains everything throughout the entire process and helped make it enjoyable and relaxing. This was my first tattoo so I really appreciate how Aura and the staff at North Main made everything very calming and a great experience. Looking forward to getting another one! :)

Considered a couple shops before deciding on North Main Tattoo Studio! After checking the website, all of the artists had incredible work. Studio was extremely clean and they had awesome art pieces on the wall. Had a rough idea of what I wanted but Eric knocked my rib tattoo out of the park and exceeded all expectations!! He was awesome throughout the whole process! Would highly recommend!!

Best artwork I have ever gotten done, by Aaron Ruby! He is professional, courteous, nice and one hell of an artist. He will definitely be my go-to from now on, and my first recommendation to anyone. I have never worked with any other artists in studio, but their work looks amazing. Staff at the door is very friendly. If you havent already visited or set up a consultation, I highly recommend it

Beautiful clean studio full of professionals. I saw Aura today and had such a positive experience. Her attention to detail is phenomenal and she is highly professional. Really professional and clean place! The receptionist was very polite and helpful, and my artist Bill was very clean and did an amazing job. 10/10 will go back.EDIT: Ive been back around half a dozen times since, and each time is better than the last! From the receptionist, to the artists and even the owner, they are all very welcoming!

Some of Detroits best known tattoo artists work here. There artwork is displayed on the walls of the studio like a museum and is definitely some of the most interesting pieces Ive ever seen. The artists here are completely booked, the soonest I could get an appointment was 6 months. Its going to be well worth the wait!!!

I cant believe I never reviewed this place!!I had my very first tattoo done by the incredibly talented Aura Dalian here at North Main, and my only regrets is I wish I had done it sooner.She does absolutely beautiful work. In fact, everyone here has beautiful work. Every single artist here is truly that, an artist! They regularly have their own personal art hanging on the walls of the building. Every few months, they also have gallery events for new art shows theyre hosting!The interior is super clean. The girl running the desk is very nice and efficient, and setting appointments is easy-peasy. Theyre very welcoming, especially to someone who had never walked into a tattoo shop before and wasnt just getting a tiny black and white piece. If you want high quality work done by real artists, you need to come here.

North Main Tattoo studio was very professional. I overall had a great experience getting my very first tattoo. The receptionist Renee was very very kind and helpful and made me feel very welcome at their establishment. The studio was very clean as well. My tattoo artist Jay was very helpful and kind throughout my whole tattoo experience. He helped me get the size and get the tattoo exactly where I had imagined it going. I started my sleeves in L.A. and moved back to the Detroit area before they were finished. Aaron Ruby was able to continue my sleeves and improve the work I had already started. The work he did is WAY better than anything I had done in Los Angeles or Ann Arbor. Aaron was patient and listened while I showed him all my inspiration pics. He was great at communicating what would look good and working with me to assure I got the tattoo I wanted. The shop is the cleanest, most elegant shop Ive ever been in and the receptionist were polite and knowledgeable. My entire experience was excellent. Ill never go anywhere else! I had the most wonderful experience here! First of all, my tattoo artist, Ryan Methric, is AMAZING. He knows his stuff. He will work with you, and lead you in the right direction! We did half of my 3/4 sleeve this past Saturday and it is BEAUTIFUL.. very excited to finish in a few week!Secondly, the receptionists and other artists are very cool and personable.Finally, the shop itself is insanely clean and very classy!If your looking for a place that has talent, cleanliness, and experience, this is your shop!

I had a beautiful memorial piece in mind and Eric did a phenomenal job! I can’t say enough good things about him. If you need something done and you like precision ask for Eric. I love my tattoo more every day he really worked with me to achieve what I wanted and was super patient . I also must mention that the kindness of the staff and cleanliness was spectacular .

Cant speak for the other artists there, but Aaron Ruby is the GOAT. Im a repeat customer and only trust him for tattoos at this point, especially for intricate and difficult works. Hes worth the wait. His honey is tasty and worth a jar if you stop by after he harvests his bees.

Barb has done basically all of my tattoos and she is THE BEST. not only so incredibly talented, but so kind and just the best artist to work with! I am over the moon in love with my tattoos from her, and will continue to go to her for many more!Thanks, Barb!

Ryan Methric is amazing! I just finished my last session with him for a full sleeve and couldnt be happier with my tattoo. His art is incredible and I enjoyed chatting with him during the many hours I spent in the shop.The shop itself is very clean and professional. Barb Jones did an amazing job! I had a rough idea of what I was going for, but she brought the idea to life in a way that was better than I even imagined. She made everything really easy - all I had to do was sit back and watch/talk true crime cases with her while she made it happen. Very cool, friendly, professional person who does great work.

I found Barb through Instagram and reached out to her through email to have a coverup tattoo done. She responded to me very quickly and even though her books were closed, she was able to get me a spot for about 7 months later. The wait was ABSOLUTELY worth it! Barb did the most beautiful coverup for me, and I had a great time chatting with her during our session. She even assured me that I can come back for a touch up after healing to make sure the old tattoo is covered. Barb was amazing to work with and I highly recommend her!

My artist, Ryan Methric, was great! He helped me add/fix an older tattoo and it turned out better than expected. All the little details associated with the job were addressed as well: updating me on the progress, making sure I was comfortable, etc... Ive found the artist that will be doing all my work from here on out. The studio and gallery was very classy and friendly. Everyone I encountered was a pleasure to deal with. Great experience!!

North Main is a gorgeous tattoo studio, and the artists are incredible. The aesthetic is very calming and professional, and the artists are the same. My artist is Eric and I drive over an hour to get my tattoos done here. What a fantastic parlor with skilled artists.

I will not go anywhere else from now on, they are the cleanest and most professional Ive ever seen. I have been tattooed by both owners now and not only are they amazing at what they do, they are kind human beings. It is extremely rare to find a tattoo studio that is not only good at what they do but make you feel welcomed and appreciated. Whether youre fully tattooed or you have no tattoos you will be just as welcomed.

Aura and North Main are the only places I plan on going in my life. The ideas I send and her ability to make so much more out of them leaves me excited for the next visit. I have four tattoos and all of them have been done at North Main. Ryan Methric has done three of them; his artwork is amazing, and I love his use of color. He can do pretty much any style and has some of the cleanest linework Ive ever seen. Their current apprentice Andrew did my fourth tatto and he is so talented! Overall, the studio is super clean and has an awesome atmosphere unlike any other shop Ive ever seen. I definitely want to get all of my future work done here!

At North Main Tattoo Studio you will find some of the best tattoo artists in the Motor City. Their appointments are booked pretty far out, so if you want some ink done schedule your appointment ahead of time because youll be waiting a few months, but its worth the wait!!!

Andrew was a phenomenal tattoo artist and even better individual. He was able to create an almost 10 year old dream of mine come to life.If you are looking for a top notch tattoo artist do not look anywhere else!!

My wife got a tattoo here recently by Tiffany, She does absolutely beautiful work. This is unlike any tattoo shop I have ever been in, there is not a bunch of flash art plastered all over the walls, it is very welcoming, and the art gallery is a nice touch. I will be returning in the future.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! Scheduled two tats, waited over an hour in the parking lot and once he finally showed up (even though he said he had been there that morning) spent another hour explaining very personal unnecessary things then tore up both tats in less than 30 mins but charged for two hours.. both tats have bad lines and my daughters became highly infected.. I have many tats and have never had an experience like this........ will NEVER go BACK....

This shop has nothing but award winning artists and great people. My cover up won an award at the Great Lakes Tattoo convention and Ive recommended everyone who asks about my tattoos to come here. This is the place to go to get REAL art, not a walk-in shop.

NATE is the man. I drove 45 minutes just to get tattooed by him and Im obsessed with my tattoo.

Husband and I got tattoos here and Bill did any amazing job! He got us in fairly fast and did exactly what we wanted. The artists respond fairly quickly.

I had heard only good things about this place. Finally got a tattoo done there and could not have been happier! Well worth the wait to see Barbara Jones and have my beautiful tattoo done! I will be returning for sure!

In hindsight, I should have walked out. This was my first tattoo and Eric made it a really uncomfortable experience. He wasnt ready for me when I got there and, although I booked a month in advance, he waited until after finishing drawing and printing to tell me the tattoo isnt going to look good. I even talked to him when paying my appointment fee and he didnt mention anything. He gave me no aftercare information, and I had to seek it out from another artist.

Aura was wonderful my tattoo is everything I wanted and then some! Was so worth the wait!

Stopped in to inquire. Received a name of an artist to contact. Sent an email got no response. Sent a second email with an explanation of what I wanted and received a response with a possible appointment date and time. Sent an email to confirm but received no response again. I think Ill go elsewhere where the communication is better.
