Riot Ink in Powell and Kenny Hill really made my tattoo appointment a wonderful experience. The customer care was top notch and the art was unbelievable. I have had over 30 tattoo sessions all over the country and Ive never had issues with feeling light headed but a combo of lack of sleep, being out in the heat all day, not eating and drinking enough had me getting a little swimmy. Kenny made sure to check on me regularly and even got me water and a Popsicle. Made it through the rest of the tattoo no issue. Never gave me a hard time about it or anything.

My partner and I both got our first tattoos from Matt Marshall on July 22, 2023. He was amazing to work with; he was responsive when working through scheduling, listened to the design concept we wanted and was able to make it better than we originally imagined (even providing us with a time-lapse video of him creating our final design which was really cool!), and was very receptive to small detail changes we wanted to the final design the day of our tattoo session.Throughout the actual tattooing he was very friendly, clearly focused on making sure we were comfortable and doing okay, and we had some great conversation!Im sure this is opening the door for more tattoos in the future, and we will both go back to Matt for any of our future work! We are both thrilled with how our tattoos turned out, and we had no issues with them healing up either. Overall, Matt was fantastic and I cant recommend him enough!

I 1000% recommended Riot Ink! I worked with Arvil and he did an amazing job making my vision come to life. This was also my 1st tattoo and he was understanding and supportive through the entire process. The quality is also phenomenal, I had very little peeling using the saniderm as they directed and even a month out Ive had many compliments on how much the color pops. Im confident this tattoo will last for years to come ☺️

From the initial email with Kate who was so patient and answered all of my annoying questions to the actual tattoo session with Quil, everything was so seamless and the communication was excellent. This is my second tattoo and I felt very at ease walking into the shop. It was very clean and very welcoming. Quils rendering of the photo that I sent was perfection. It was exactly how I had it in my head. Highly recommend!

I have worked with Matt Marshall on all 5 of my tattoos. I think that Matt is amazing and kind and does an incredible job. Ive trusted no one else to tattoo me but him. He really cares about what you want, how you want it, and pays super close attention to detail. I love all of my tattoos and get compliments on them all the time. Got my first tattoo here last week and it went so well. I suffer from severe anxiety so going and doing this by myself was really scary but everyone in the shop made me feel super cool. I was so nervous it was hard to express properly how much I love my tattoo so I hope my artist could tell lol. He was very patient with my requests to change parts of the design and helped guide me in the right direction. The healing process was explained super well and he did a great job walking me through the process, I always knew what and why we were doing things. I’ll definitely be back someday with the new found confidence that I will be treated well and receive a super cool price of art.

This was my first tattoo and it was an amazing experience. Very clean, fun, killer atmosphere. Scott said he had the touch of a baby angel and definitely did. It hurt a lot less than I think it couldve, and he was fast! Great to work with, very funny, and was straight to the point when I asked his opinion, which really helped. Highly recommend him and Riot Ink.

Ryan Romito is one of the most talented tattoo artists I’ve ever came across. He has the coolest, laid back, funniest personality. Crazy to think he hasn’t been tattooing for a very long time. I never seem to know what I want when I come in, and he always comes up with the most amazing creations. His talent is undeniable. And riot ink and is such a cool, clean place with a really cool vibe. You gotta try them out!!!! Ryan is dope!!

I went to Scott here for my first tattoo and it was a great experience! The smooth online (via email) scheduling made me feel safe and cared for, Scott went out of his way to make sure my design was right for the look I wanted and where I wanted it. As a bonus he was really fast, which made my little minimalist tattoo super affordable. The only thing I would change is that I wish I had been counseled to move the heron the tiniest bit further down my arm- as you can see, even my shortest sleeves cut off its head! But thats partly on me. Overall, had a great time, it healed quickly, and I promise Ill name a buffalo for you, Scott :)Photos are from the day of and a month later. My friend was also able to come with me and get a cute walk-in!

I’ve worked with Matt Marshall for the past year and to say that he’s an amazing and talented tattoo artist, wouldn’t do him justice. He’s unbelievable! Before working with him, I had tried working with other artists but had serious issues with passing out at each session. When I met Matt, he listened to me and made me feel valued and safe as a customer. We worked through my issues and my body no longer felt in shock. It has allowed me to have multiple tattoos done by him (working on a sleeve) and I have yet to even feel lightheaded! Amazing!! I will continue to get my tattoos done by him, and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking not only a great piece of art, but also a valuable experience!

Matt Marshall is such a great tattoo artist to work with. Hes so open to anything and listens to exactly what I want to do. He didnt even have a problem with me pretty much designing my own art. Most artists would prob have a problem with that, but he was so easy-going! Im looking forward to my next session coming up soon!

I looked for months for someone who could work with different line weights and incorporate my existing tattoos into a cohesive piece on my arm. Peter absolutely killed it. I sent in some reference pictures and then met up with him for a consultation. At my first appointment he took the time to educate me on my skin and how it tattoos (I’m a nerd and loved every minute of it). He knows his stuff and is extremely personable. After two sessions, I am in love with my piece and can’t wait until it’s healed. Have definitely already given his information to multiple friends. The shop itself has a chill vibe and all the staff are fun to talk with. We were all laughing and having a good time. HIGHLY recommend.

Matt Marshall was extremely helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. He was very detailed orientated when it came to placement and sizing of the tattoo. Got my first tattoo here after a lot of personal research and Ryan fulfilled all my wishes for my floral tattoo. He was pleasant and professional giving me plenty of time to process my decisions and choices prior to starting. His work is amazing and his artistry and attention to detail is so evident. Not only was this shop super cool and eclectic, but also my experience with my artist was amazing. Taylor Shade is super talented. Her attention to fine, small detail and precision with line work is amazing, and she did such a great job on my tattoo. She was super kind and friendly, and had a very calming demeanor and tone which made me feel very comfortable and at ease. She took her time to make sure my piece was completely filled in and that she didnt miss anything. The store is very clean and Taylor went the extra step to make sure her station was properly set up and sanitary before beginning.I definitely recommend going to see her! She was so awesome, and I definitely will be going back to see her again!!

Super professional, loved the cleanliness of the shop (just wish the music wasnt as offensive as it was the day I was in the shop). Tattoo came out great and Chris (my artist) knew immediately what to do after I got a bit woozy and got me through a really long session (my first over two hours) and it was an awesome experience.

Ryan did a fantastic job! I came in with a tattoo idea and he worked with me through the design. He recognized that some aspects of my idea could be improved and would make a better tattoo if they were changed. A few years ago I had scheduled an appointment with Quil several months out. The artist was aware that I was traveling from out of town to come to my appointment. When I arrived (on time) to my appointment they were running a bit behind with the client before me, which was no problem for me at all. However, once they were ready for me, Quil explained that they were running late for band practice and that it was a good thing they were one of the fastest artists in the country. Quil proceeded to completely rush through my tattoo and continued to bring up how they were late to band practice throughout the entire process. I have seen Quils work and know that they are a great artists, which makes the fact that I was left with a blown out and obviously rushed tattoo that much worse. I love my design (which Quil drew up) and dont regret the tattoo, just the artist. It sucks to see all the amazing work this artist does compared to what I was left with on my body. I hope band practice was worth it and that you have learned how to manage time better. :)Aside from this experience the shop was clean and everyone that worked there was very friendly.

Austin gave me and my best friend the greatest matching tattoo experience we have ever had! It was also her first ever tattoo, and he made her feel completely comfortable from start to finish. First time getting a tattoo and had a great experience. Excellent communication with the staff with coordinating getting on the schedule which was a big deciding factor on where to go. Chris was my artist and although the tattoo was super simple - he took his time to make sure I was totally happy with the stencil and had a great chat during the whole process. Ryan did my tattoo, and I love it! He took his time and made sure the placement was right and they were able to get me in within the week. I’ve had 3 tattoos done now at Riot Ink and I can honestly say I will not go anywhere else. Every artist has something unique to bring to the table to make your vision come to life. Yesterday I sat for a silhouette tattoo with Chris. His patience in creating excellent lines and assuring the black ink was filled in perfectly is outstanding. I never could have envisioned this tattoo looking so good and I can’t wait to finish it in a few weeks.Scott did excellent work in August 2021 for my ring tattoo. He made such an perfect design with just the right amount of floral focused around the letter “L.” I love it and show it off whenever I can.Nathan did my first tattoo in 2019 and it involved tie dye in the bolt of a Grateful Dead stealie and I’ve never seen such beautiful work done. The details are all perfect.The shop is beautiful. Everyone is super friendly. You absolutely must visit Riot Ink for your tattoo needs.

There aren’t enough stars for my experience! I got my first tattoo here a few days ago and Scott did a wonderful job; he talked me through the process, made sure I was comfortable before he even started. I’ve been getting compliments non stop about my tattoo, despite me being super nervous at first.The receptionist was also really sweet - we chatted through email and on the phone before I came in and she made sure I was set. She talked me through reservations, pricing and COVID precautions. The shop was spacious, clean and they were extremely professional! Overall I give them 5 stars will definitely be back for tattoo #2 with Scott

Pete was amazing! We had a pseudo plan but when we got here he was so kind and patient. It was my first tattoo and he was simply wonderful. I was thrilled with the results. 10/10 already planning my next tattoo with him!

Riot Ink is definitely my favorite spot to get inked. Not only do I leave with amazing art but I leave happy :) All the artists are very friendly, welcoming, hilarious and the music is good (usually), lol. I LOVE every piece I’ve gotten from Nathan, I can’t say enough about his art. I get lots of compliments on his work…almost every day. The shop is very clean with lots of cool things to look at. 5 stars all the way!!

I love love love this shop. The owner, Nathan Varney, is amazingly talented and has a huge range. Most of my pieces are hyper-realistic, in color and black & gray, and his work makes me want to go no where else. Been getting tattooed by Nathan for probably around 5 years now, maybe more. I have the utmost respect for his creativity, his business mentality, and how he cares for his employees.

I visited the downtown location and let me say this, the decor and design aesthetic was so beautiful and regal. I loved the feel and ambiance that is created, music was lovely also. The artists were all so friendly and kind. My artist Nathan who is also the owner did an outstanding job per usual and I will most definitely be back.

Matt is THE guy to go to!!!! His work is clean, gives amazing conversation and actually sits down with you to go over everything. His artwork is spot on and he is quick as HELL! My dawg Matt is the man to go to for some amazing quality work.

Clean, affordable, friendly and open concept makes Riot Ink hands down the best tattoo shop Ive been inked at. I gave Austin complete creative control over my right arm sleeve; he truly is a creative genius. The color schemes that he can apply to skin is amazing. We went to get a tatoo with johny. It was our birthdays present as a family. We gave him the idea that we want and let him crated for us. He nail it. He was very profesional, friendly, funny. The time went fast (6 hours) All the time he make sure we were confortable and ok, wich make the expirience more enjoyable. Definetly will travel to ohio and do it again. Thanks johny. Our daughter has been going to Quil for many years and has received some of the most gorgeous and incredible tattoos. She really enjoys Quil, she loves the tattoos hes done, she enjoys the shop environment, and although shes gotten tattoos elsewhere, her favorite tattoo artist is Quil. Our daughter usually sends him ideas about what shed like to get and Quil has always come up with amazing designs that she loves and designs that look incredible! Quil is also very knowledgeable, incredibly easy to talk to, and has a great sense of humor.If youre looking for a great tattoo and great tattoo experience, Tattoo Riot and Quil are both excellent choices!

This is my second tattoo with Riot and I have had a great experience here both times. The overall atmosphere is very welcoming and chill. Austin especially is great; he was super excited about my idea and created something incredible for me! He was also very patient with me while I twitched through my entire tattoo :) I would definitely recommend this shop and all of the artists!

I spent 21 hours with Austin over a 2 day period & he banged out an absolute masterpiece! I drove from NW Indiana & he/we stayed extra late to get as much done on my sleeve as possible. Every interaction I had at the shop from the initial email consultation to the actual day of the tattoo was excellent. I’ve had two experiences with the shop over the last month.First was going in for their charity drive for RESCUEohio dog shelter. The event was handled incredibly well and the artists toiled all day doing tattoos. Everyone was friendly, kind, and fun. I personally got an ink print done and it was done quickly and looks great.Recently went in with a group to do a bachelor party tattoo for a friend. The owner Nathan worked with us to set it all up and gave an AMAZING tattoo.

Ryan at Riot Ink is an incredibly talented tattoo artist! He listened to my disconnected ideas and brought them all together to create a detailed and utterly gorgeous piece of art. I appreciated his flexibility in incorporatingy ideas and his expertise in the process. The shop has a really welcoming and comfortable vibe, even for middle-aged women!

After many years of talking about wanting to get tattoos, my wife and I finally decided to take the plunge. After researching some 50 different tattoo artists around Columbus, the guy whose style appealed most to my aesthetic was Nathan Varney at Riot Ink. So my wife and I stopped in to talk to them and schedule our first tattoos. Everyone was very friendly and Nathan even stopped what he was doing to come talk to us. We put down a deposit and came back 2 weeks later to jump right in. The shop is clean and comfortable and the background music was awesome. My wife worked with Nick, who talked at length with her about her idea for a tattoo before proceeding and his honesty was very insightful. I worked with Nathan who drew up a personalized composite sketch from my initial concept and it was not only the perfect drawing, but also the perfect size. During the tattooing process, he was always quick with a self-deprecating joke, but his work was masterful. All in all we were there for about 3 hours and we love everything about the results. We could not have picked a better group of people to jump into the world of body art and we highly recommend Riot Ink for anyone looking to get their first tattoo or add to their collection.As a final note, that Scott guy who left a 1 star review (and who had a real issue figuring out how to use punctuation marks) could not be farther from the truth - at least with our experience. He sounded like a frustrated child who couldn’t get his way so he threw a temper tantrum on the internet. Rest assured, Riot Ink is phenomenal.

Decided to get a specific tattoo and really let Austin run with it. What he came up with was unbelievable. Ive never had a tattoo this big before but the detail in his art is fantastic, the small things you miss on the first visual pass and then on the second or third they just pop out at you.The shop itself is run by fantastic and friendly people. They want to make sure youre taken care of and that youre in a clean and professional shop. Its a unique environment inside though, you have to really check it out to understand and if you dont, youre only doing yourself a disservice. I cant wait to go back to get my piece colored in and to start work on another.

I was briefly visiting the Columbus area and had an evening of free time. I’ve had a tattoo that needed covered up for years and decided I would try and see if I could get it covered up. Not only did they squeeze me in the same day, Quil created a beautiful piece that completely covered my old tattoo. The atmosphere in the shop and everyone was super nice and welcoming. I don’t think I have ever felt so comfortable in a tattoo shop, let alone one in an unfamiliar city. If I were to visit again, I would definitely come back to Riot Tattoo.

Just got my third tattoo from Nathan and second since he has been at Riot Ink. I cant say enough good things about him and his business. The shop is always clean and organzied, his artists are always polite and welcoming and his work is always professional and perfect! I am constantly recommending him and his shop!

5 days ago I got a tattoo finished there by Nate!! It turned out way better than I could have imagined. Seriously the best!!Then 2 days later I went and got nipplePiercings done by Caitlin and she made me feel extremely comfortable and the process was super fast and easy. Definitely recommend in the future.

I went in for a helix piercing last Saturday and I had a great experience with Caitlin. Shes professional, personable and knows what shes doing; She did a great job with making sure I was comfortable and that everything was clean and safe, both piercing and COVID wise. Ryan Romito is an amazing tattoo artist! I followed him from his last shop. He has done several tattoos for me and I love them all! I made the mistake of cheating and got a tattoo somewhere else and now he is fixing that bad decision. His artwork is awesome and he obviously cares about what he puts on your skin. You will not be disappointed with Ryan. He’s also a pretty cool dude. The posted picture is a cover-up… even with a disaster he made it beautiful.

The Powell ship is beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. Its an open floor plan with about 5 artist stations. All of the staff and artists were friendly and accommodating. I will be back!

Clean, comfortable shop. the original artwork decorating the walls is awesome. i was tattooed by the owner, nathan, who does amazing work and makes sure your tattoo is exactly what you want before placing it on your body. i have awesome black and grey tattoos from him as well as color pieces that are so vibrant and unique. i wont go to anyone else for tattoos.

I had been working with Ryan on a design for my chest. He worked and worked, but felt like it wasnt going to fit in the space correctly, and said he had an idea for my forearm. I trust him, so I figured Id see what he had. I wasnt sure what to expect, but when he showed me what he had worked up, it was perfect, and I couldnt wait to see it finished. Super clean and friendly staff. Id recommend to anyone.

I recently went in and got a piercing done. I got my septum done. It has been a long time since ive decided to get a piercing and was very nervous about going. Ive been to many places where I felt uncomfortable. I drove an hour to Riot Ink and was more than impressed with the service I got. Not only did I get an amazing piercing but i got some very good advice with my piercings that had been done wrong before at other piercing places. If youre unsure of getting a piercing, know if you come to Riot Ink theyll treat you like a friend with respect and make you feel comfortable while also giving you an amazing service.

I have been working with Nick on a sleeve rework/coverup/addition. I have been so impressed with his attention to detail and how careful he is about choosing what we add and how he does it. He takes his time and will not rush into a project before making sure it’s right. He will honestly tell you if a tattoo is a bad idea or if there is a better way to do it. I would tell anyone to LISTEN to him. He knows what he’s talking about and cares about his work. He wants to be proud of every piece and it shows. The entire shop has a great atmosphere and everyone is fun and easy to talk to.

I will never step foot back into your place and I will stop referring your shop. Nick was rude and condescending to me when I was already distraught over how another shop treated me. I came in to see Nathan who I have great respect for. He referred us to Nick to try an accommodate my daughter and I for tattoos next week. He came to us immediately with a poor attitude and I had not even opened my mouth yet. I kindly excused myself while he was speaking with my daughter. He then proceeded to bad mouth me to my daughter when I left. This is unprofessional and uncalled for. His behavior was appalling. If he did not want our business then he should have never come up to the counter. He heard everything that was going on prior to, so he knew the issues. There was NO reason for him to act that way.

I’ve had five sessions with Nathan, and I know I’ll be back for more. He runs a clean, friendly, and talented shop. Other than getting quality ink each time, I really enjoy that when I bring him an idea he is always able to build off of it and make it better with some creative and aesthetic suggestions I otherwise wouldn’t have thought of. Thank you Riot Ink!

I called ahead, explained what I wanted and Taylor said that she could do it for me. So I drove 30 minutes to the store and she then tells me that she doesn’t have time for it and that if anything it will take her at least an hour to outline a picture of my dogs head. She was also rude to both of my friends. Also we left to find someone who would actually do the tattoo and Derek at Tattoo Saga did my tattoo, sketch and all in under an hour and helped my friends with artist referrals for their tattoos. Just thought I’d share this in case anyone wanted to skip out on rude customer service.

I had my first tattoo done here at Riot Ink by Nick! I had only a vague idea of what I wanted and Nick put his spin on it and made it amazing. Every interaction I had at the shop was professional and you get the sense they really care about their customers and their needs. I will definitely be back for more in the future!

I originally had an appointment booked and turned out I was no longer able to move forward with it. Riot ink reached out to me about the situation and I got answers back very fast. The customer service was great and they really helped me to book a new appointment same day and time.

Amazing place. I got my double helix pierced by Caitlin and she did an amazing job. The shop was very clean and sanitary. They don’t explain everything!!!! They have a no refund policy on deposits! for work not yet completed! Policies are not displayed anywhere!!! When trying to resolve the issue with the owner! I was verbally confronted by the employees! I stayed calm and respectful but the employees could not!! And I’m supposed to trust them with my skin now??? I would stay away just based on professionalism!!!To respond to your response! So you’re saying that I am lieing about your tattoo artist interjecting his attitude and opinion while I was trying to speak with the owner??? The owner told him to stop and back off!!! It’s not the responsibility of a employee to interject when the owner is talking with a customer!!!!!!!!!It’s exactly as I described it!!!!! So don’t sugar coat it to save face! Your staff had no problem interjecting themselves about policy being discussed with the owner!!!! Like I said!! No explanation was given before the deposit!!!! And like I stated, the staff was hostile to me about my situation!!!! You have nothing!!! Displayed about your policy on deposits!!! Which is why now! You’ve been reported to the bbb and the Ohio attorney general office! I have nothing to say about the quality of the artists as I have not had any work done! But I’m still supposed to trust someone like the person who wanted to be combative with me to touch my skin?????? ya right!!!!! I explained it perfectly!! And you and your employees can ban together and say what you want. But you all know the truth!!!

A huge thanks to Quil for giving me my first tattoo. Im a hairdresser and I have had the general idea of this planned out for the past 8 years since I was in Cosmetology school and I just didnt know any artists that I had full faith in to do it. Quil worked with me to perfect the idea I had in mind and it turned out so much better than I ever imagined in my head and I absolutely love it. Its a bit red, bruised, irritated and swollen in this picture because it was right after it was done but its exactly what I wanted.

I came in initially for an ear piercing last year and everything was so nice and relaxed I came back this year for microblading and more piercings! Im so happy theres a piercer close to me now. I definitely recommend checking out Caitlin for piercings and microblading!!!

Came for a flash sale special and arrived 10min to open with about 10 people in front of me (most of whom I overheard were getting tattoos instead of piercings). I was told the wait would be about an hour after I had already put my name in. I left and came back and watched the clock continue to tick by for the next 2.5hrs until I was given my paperwork. My paperwork was then lost in the shuffle and I waited an additional hour. I finally left after waiting over 3 and a half hours, watching countless individuals go ahead of me.To be perfectly honest I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t have the “look” they were going for or if it was just unorganized.The shop inside looked clean, and I could tell they were taking sanitation seriously. This did not slow the process significantly to where I should have waited over 3 hours for a service that should take only 15min IMO.While I’d love to think it was just the day, I will not be returning even with an appointment any time soon.

Drew did a flower forearm tattoo on me back in September of 2015. He decided on using grey ink as the outline color instead of black. The lines in my tattoo did not last and I had to return in January to have the lines put back in. It is now June and the lines are disappearing yet again. I wish that Drew would have used black ink in the first place as suggested by his associates. Im very disappointed that my half sleeve looks like a muddy mess. I dont know what to do! Its so disappointing.

I got microblanding with Caitlin around 3 weeks ago, after the first week all the ink came out (which, im glad, one of my eyebrows was thicker and longer than the other one, they look terrible). My eyebrows looked like it nothing got done (thank god) So, im not coming back for the second ssesion. Also when i was there she charged me $300. I checked my text of when we talked online and she said it was going to be $200, for the first sesion, $200 for the second one and $100 for the third one ( i only went for the first sesion). Im very dissapointed on her work and the overcharging. What a waste of time and money. I guess you get what you pay for. Lesson learned!!!
