I recently had the pleasure of getting a tattoo for myself and my son at Shades of Black studio, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Johnathan was incredibly professional and clear with all his instructions, particularly regarding post-care for our tattoos.The design process was impressive, showcasing Johnathans creativity and talent. He crafted a nice watercolor dragon with beautiful pink petals for my thigh, and the result was nothing short of perfection. Additionally, he meticulously tattooed Roman numerals on my sons forearm, his first tattoo. Johnathans precision and care ensured the lines were perfectly clean and aligned.Johnathan was especially considerate with my son, explaining the entire process gently and ensuring he felt comfortable throughout. The studio itself was immaculate, resembling a high-end spa with its soothing and relaxing ambiance.Overall, my experience at Shades of Black was first-class, and I couldn’t be happier with our tattoos. I highly recommend Johnathan and look forward to returning for more of his amazing work!

From our first Zoom call , I realized Jonnathan was an amazing artist who truly cared about capturing the concept of what I was looking for. My tattoo took 2 sessions and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. This was a larger tattoo for me and he took the care and time to make it exactly how I had envisioned. It was a 5 star experience and he has a customer for life!!!

Jhonnathan was definitely the best tattoo artist I’ve ever worked with. He was friendly and knowledgeable, he took the time to explain every single thing - including the meaning of part of my tattoo (which I had no idea about). He listened to my friend and I about what type of design we wanted and then made something so original and beautiful. We were blown away!! The studio is beautiful and very clean. I could tell it right away he takes so much pride in what he does. I don’t live in Florida but when I come back, I will definitely get another piece of work from him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I found this shop after seeing someone in public with Jhonnys work done which I think is a huge reflection of the art he does. The shop was super clean and comfortable and the staff was accommodating above expectations as well as knowledgeable. I love tattoos but don’t have a creative eye so I was super happy to be able to lean on my artist for that when it came to design and placement. I didn’t feel pushed in any direction either l, everything felt super comfortable as well as professional. This is the third shop I have worked with and don’t plan on looking for a fourth. I will absolutely be back as soon as I can for more work. Thank you again for the awesome work and for answering any and all questions.

Jhonnathan did such a beautiful job on my tattoo. I absolutely love my tattoo. He is so talented, creative and knowledgeable about tattooing, art and the body. He was patient with me and helped to ask me questions to understand what I wanted in order to design the best tattoo for me. Jhonnathan is truly an amazing artist!! My best friend and I came in to get a prior tattoo re-touched (cover up) and fixed/add more details. We had such a horrible experience with the prior tattoo artist that originally did our matching tattoos but I knew Jhonnathan would be awesome and take care of us. I had previously been to Jhonnathan for a tribute tattoo so I knew he would fix our tattoo. We are so happy now! Also, the office is clean and sterile as it’s also a medical establishment as well (Vital Care Spa). I was given Jhonnathan’s information from my neighbor who had gotten fine line tattoos with him. I am truly thankful for every part of my experience.This was my first designed tattoo and it was a memorial piece for my dad. I had a few ideas and the design Jhonnathan came up with was so perfect. It incorporated all of the things I mentioned in our consult session. It is very unique to the things I asked for and we worked through changing things so well and easily.I appreciated the spa like feel when I was there because it was very comfortable and inviting. I was worried about not feeling comfortable or entertained for the whole session of my tattoo but that all faded away while watching Netflix on tv.Jhonnathan is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I’ve had 2 sessions with Jhonnathan (so far) and have had such a great experience. Firstly, the studio has a great atmosphere, very clean and welcoming and I felt comfortable straight away. Jhonnathan is very professional and knowledgeable and took the time to talk me through the tattoo process and healing process as well as recommending what would look best and what will look good over time. I had some fine line tattoos and I have had many compliments on how great the line work is. Jhonnathan also took the time to check in after the tattoos to see how they were healing and offered his professional advice on how to care for them. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Very professional and quick responses. They are also very flexible. This has been my best tattoo experience I’ve had! John really has a true passion for what he does. He has so much knowledge not just on tattooing itself but art and techniques. Very creative. My tattoo from him healed so fast and and didn’t hurt at all the next day! I can’t wait to get the rest finished up by him. So happy with how it looks so far.

I can’t not express the amount of joy i feel for my tattoo. The process was so easy and we went over what i was looking for and my budget. He is so creative and sketched my the prettiest tattoo. My tattoo experience here was incredible! Jonathan’s artistic ability is amazing and he creates the crispest lines I have ever seen on a tattoo. The studio was incredibly clean and sanitary. His work is beautiful and very detailed, while he also is very personable during the process. He made me and my dad’s first tattoo experience go smoothly and everything turned out great! Jhonnathan did a matching flower tattoo for my mother and me, and frankly this was the best tattooing experience I’ve had thus far. The entire location is gorgeous, Estenfany and Jhonnathan were incredibly friendly and professional. Jhonnathan literally started the session with aftercare information and the importance of caring for our skin and tattoo. He was so knowledgeable and took care to answer all of our questions and made us feel so comfortable and at easy, and his work is absolutely beautiful. I feel so blessed to have Jhonathan’s athan’s artwork on me. At first, I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted and was somewhat concerned about my dark skin. Our initial meeting was l a creative brainstorm. I had two concerns, how to get the artwork that I imagined and what artwork would best fit my skin color. I wanted a new tattoo that celebrated my hard work as a first gen PhD scholar and the second goal was to fix an older Polynesian tattoo. I loved the ENTIRE creative process.
