Rowan Downtown Birmingham

Honestly, one of the best experiences Ive had - especially considering it was a walk-in appointment. The ladies at Rowan Birmingham were incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I was nervous about my helix piercing but they took their time to explain the process and make me super comfortable. I highly, highly recommend Rowan to anyone getting a piercing! Super cute spot too.

Laurdes was so gentle and explained every step of the way in detail. She calmed my nerves and more than triple checked before piercing to make sure everything was perfect. Definitely going to book another appointment in the future. So glad I chose to get my piercing here rather. I felt so safe with a nurse. Highly recommend!!

It was a wonderful experience for our whole group. The team took their time, were super helpful and supportive making sure we made the right choice for each client. Hannah, also took extra time making sure the placement was correct and I was totally happy with the piercing.

My daughter is 6 and for “kindergarten graduation” she wanted her ears pierced. She did really well when she got stitches in her leg so I thought she would sit well for earrings. However, the two nurses here wisely suggested they pierce both ears at once. Which was a really good suggestion because she did scream for about 2 seconds but then she realized she had earrings and everyone was praising her and she was completely fine. If you have younger kids maybe call ahead before booking or walking in and see if they have two nurses there who can do it at the same time. Also I’m not sure what is in their spray but BUY IT! The nurse said we can use it on her piercing or any cut or scrap. It’s like magic in a bottle. It stops the itching from the new piercing instantly for my daughter. Also my husband had a small cut that wasn’t healing with regular antibiotic cream. I suggested he use the spray and it worked great. I also used it on a sunburn and a random scraps on all the kids and it has been working really well. I am seriously considering stopping by to get more lol. The picture below is 24 hours after the piercing. She had no redness or complaints and it’s been over 3 weeks and the healing is going really well. We haven’t changed earrings yet but we’ve taken the starter set out and cleaned them and put them back in and the ears look great. Way better than when I had my ear lobes done a few years ago at the mall!

Great safe clean place to go. Took my daughter for her second hole piercings. Personally I thought it was very expensive $180 all in for earrings, service and cleaner. But she has taken care of them and no issues at all so great experience all around.

HIGHLY RECOMMMEND. My daughter had issues with her mall piercings, so we tried Rowan for the update. Fabulous staff, clean, great earring and NO ISSUES. Went to have them change them and its included in your initial cost. Lordes is wonderful if you can ask for a specific nurse.

My 9-year-old had her first ever ear piercing at Rowan last week, and it was a great experience. She was very nervous prior to her appointment, but she was ready to go for it... and the nurse made her feel so comfortable. They even offered a tandem piercing with 2 nurses so both ears could be done at one time. I booked an appointment online which was super easy. Its a very clean, fun, and welcoming boutique vibe. We will be back for more piercings for sure!

Amazing experience ! My daughter is 6 and got her ears pierced for the first time and I got doubles. The staff was wonderful and so sweet. Great first experience for my daughter! Very knowledgeable! Will come back again!

I’m so disappointed in my entire experience. Not only was it EXTREMELY expensive (why are they charging a piercing fee for both ears individually when it’s a typical lobe piercing), everything came out embarrassingly incorrect. The lobe piercings are not even as far as distance apart and flat helix isn’t positioned correctly. I feel so stupid walking around like this. I would never go back or recommend this place.

My daughter got here ears pierced here at 6 months old. The staff was FANTASTIC. When they found out we had a house fire and lost the cleaning solution not only did they give us another one for free they also put together a little care package for us with a music jewelry box, 3 new pairs of earrings and so much more. We would highly recommend this store and their caring staff!!

My daughter whose 4 decided she wanted her ears pierced. we were recommended to rowan by a friend, and i’m so glad we decided to go there. they were so great. even after my daughter chickened out, we left and came back about 10 minutes and they gladly still pierced my daughters ears. thank you nurse liz, and the other nurses name i did not catch. my daughter is over the moon about her new earrings 🤗🤗

I cannot put into words how wonderful the girls that make up Rowan are—and how professional, knowledgeable, kind, and efficient they are. They interact with you on a personal level and don’t rush any of the process. The store itself is absolutely adorable and very clean. I will 10000000% be back and recommend them to anyone.

A perfect place to get your kids ear piercing done, clean place and very friendly staff, the nurse who handled my daughter’s (2.5 years) was very patient in making the changes to the piercing spot until we agreed and taken good care until the end of the process . Highly recommend.

My experience at Rowan , Birmingham Mi was literally the best! Gina was really amazing and talked me through the difference between needle and device piercing. I went with device and so glad I did. She was really careful with placement and marked and remarked the first ear to exactly where I wanted it. The device was super quick and pretty much pain free. I’d say expect a fast pinch, that’s it. The earrings were perfectly placed and symmetrical! So happy I decided to go thru with this! Gina was great!

Genius idea! I would much rather have nurses pierce my ear than going to a shop that doesn’t specialize in piercings. The nurses were so personable and very well trained. I worked with Gina and Alexa and they were incredible. It was like chatting with old friends! And Erin was also SO helpful and kind. Such a great group of people! I will 100% be back. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone!

Rowan is THE place to get piercings done. With certified nurses, attention to cleanliness and detail and such helpful staff, this is the only place you should go. All of the young ladies in our family have gotten their first piercings done here and we had such a good experience! Highly Recommend!

I took my 6.5 year old daughter to get her ears pierced at Rowan today and the nurses there were amazing. They were so patient with my daughter and all the other kids getting their ears pierced. They even said they would pierce both ears at the same time to make her more comfortable. It was very professionally done and they explain the after care instructions really well. I highly recommend this place if you or your kids want ear piercings!!

We had a great experience here getting my 13 year old daughter and my 7 year old nieces ears pierced. There was a little bit of a wait as they juggled the customers waiting. Also suggest parking in the 2 free hours parking lot one block behind the shop. Very clean and hygenic environment.

This is my second time at a Rowan location and OH MY GOSH. Every time it is an awesome experience. The nurse does an amazing job at making you feel comfortable and at ease while getting your piercing.

I got my helix piercing done at Rowan today. I had a great experience! The manager and staff were very helpful with picking out jewelry and the placement of the piercing. The nurse was super knowledgeable and kind! 100% will return in the future. 🩷

Great experience from start to finish. The ladies there did such a good job with my daughter and she felt super comfortable. It was a quick process and I felt way better about it than our last experience at a tattoo shop trying to get it done. Jewelry choices are cute and the Shop was clean. I’m planning to get mine done there soon as well!

Are the prices higher? Definitely, but it was worth it for how wonderful they are with kids. My daughter felt so comfortable and our nurse really took the time to make sure her placement was perfect. They also fit us in last minute after school which was so convenient!

I went to get a conch piercing today and had such a positive experience. I had help picking which jewelry would look best for my ear and had the most kind nurse pierce me. The room was very clean and everything was sanitized. They made me feel so comfortable through the entire experience, I would absolutely go back

Excellent experience! I will be back!Update: I had to get my jewelry (conch) changed out at a different Rowan with a more experienced piercer because the stud was too short and my ear became very swollen. Sounds like they need to train on that component.

Absolutely 100% recommend. Felt so safe and comfortable with the nurse who pierced my ear. Also very professional and my result was better that I imagined. And the price was not bad at all for what you are getting. So worth it

Had a great experience getting my daughter’s ears pierced here. Very clean, super cute decor and Alexa was great at making her comfortable and easing her nerves. She was super thorough detailing the process and I loved the little bag, stickers and certificate of bravery my daughter got, a very cute touch 😀 We will definitely be back when her little sister is ready to get her ears pierced!

Alexa was truly amazing with my daughters. She was patient and meticulous in making sure the earrings were placed just right. I had originally planned tandem piercings but I felt comfortable with Alexa and my girls handled the separate lobe piercings like champs. Thank you Alexa and Rowan for being a part of this core memory for us!

My 5 year old got her ears pierced here today and they were so great! No tears and they made her feel at ease. Bonus that they did both ears at the same time - my biggest fear was that she’d leave with one ear pierced! Would definitely recommend for a first-timer!

My daughter got her ears pierced at Claires 3 years ago and it wasnt a great experience. She ended up letting them close up and heal. For her 8th birthday she wanted then pierced again. My husband hit the internet and found Rowan. We made an appointment with ease online and today she got her ears pierced. The staff was kind and helpful. Everything was explained to us. She said it didnt even hurt. She left with sparkles in her ears and a huge smile.

I’m NEVER one to leave negative reviews, but I am so incredibly disappointed. :( I initially loved this place. But I went on Tuesday to get my post downsize, which the piercer made wayyyy too tight - which caused my ears to become extremely swollen and start to get infected. It hurt so bad. I had to go back yesterday to get that fixed and she had to put in a whole size bigger than what I initially had before the downsize because of how swollen my ears were. She was pretty rough even though my ears were so swollen - that hurt 10x more than the actual piercing and it’s been bleeding on and off since. I left in tears because of how badly it hurt. Then I woke up this morning to see that yesterday’s piercer didn’t even put the earring in correctly because it just fell out. So now I don’t even have an earring in one of those ears. This place is pretty costly (which I didn’t mind at first because I thought they’d do a good job), but now I’ve invested quite a bit of money into this to not even have an earring in that hole anymore. Not to mention how much pain I’ve been tolerating, and the fact that this place is pretty out of the way for me - it’s not a short drive. I’m not even sure what to do, I might just have to take the other one out too because messing with them this much can’t be good. I really loved this place at first- I am so sad.

Easy online booking; the studio is lovely and made my 8 year old feel SO cool. Her device piercing was great. I went with needle piercings and was impressed with how thorough the piercer was with that process - we moved the placement a few times and I never felt rushed. It was a high quality experience but less scary for my daughter than taking her to a traditional tattoo/piercing shop (which she was not onboard with!) Thorough aftercare instructions. I’m recommending Rowan to everyone and I’ll probably be back soon 😀

Today I was pierced by Caitlin RN. She was very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. I had my helix needle pierced. Caitlin talked me through everything to expect and made me feel prepared and comfortable. She even provided me with honest feedback on my earring choices (what would look good, different options, etc.). The facility was clean, fun, and welcoming. Go see Caitlin for your ear piercing!

My friend and I wanted to get our second hole pierced and I noticed the new Rowan location about to open a few months ago and suggested we go there for our piercings. We went yesterday and the experience was great! It was clean, friendly and so cute. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with ease. They also were very patient with us because we were very indecisive about whether we were getting the device or needle piercing. We both love our new piercings and will definitely recommend Rowan to everyone we know.

Not for adults. The vibe was very mid. It was overpriced and the jewelry selection was underwhelming. I booked for a forward helix and a lobe just to find out once I arrived they weren’t able to do anything except lobe piercings. You have the option to get pierced with a gun or a needle. I also asked the piercer to help me pick something cute for my cartilage and she basically told me to browse on my own. Probably better for kids but I was better off going to a tattoo shop with experienced piercers.

Caitlin was SO great with my daughter on her 1st piercing! Everything was clean and she made her feel at ease. My daughter loved the cool “vibe” the shop has! Highly recommend!

Horrible service, after one day of piercing on our 8 month old daughter, the earring fell out during nap time, it wasn’t attached well and was obviously loose. After letting the store know about the lost earring one day after service they refused to offer a redo and only offered one at a full price. Terrible and unacceptable, would not recommend this place. The staff were not friendly during our first time at all, and the wait was over an hour.

I couldn’t tell when the piercing was done but noticed the next day the ear piercings done on my baby are uneven. One ear is upfront and centered in the middle and the other is further back and in a weird spot. She was telling me to look as if I could tell with a tiny black dot I couldn’t barely see. You can’t tell until the earrings are actually on. They had good reviews but it’s nothing special they were using an ear piercing gun like every other place. They didn’t do anything extra or anything special that another place isn’t doing. The girl doing the piercing didn’t seem confident in doing babies ear piercing. She kept erasing and remarking my babies ears. I get my daughter was squirmy but now she has two uneven piercings that look odd. I regret doing them there and should have went elsewhere.

Please please go to an actual piercing studio like Greenlight in Clawson or Ironclad in Troy. This place is incredibly unprofessional, overpriced, and not worth your time. This place is just a dressed up Claires with better graphic design and marketing for at least double the price. An actual professional piercer will cost less, hurt less, heal faster, will be more helpful, and have more options for you.

It was easy to make an appointment online and we were seen right away when we got there even though it was pretty packed when we arrived. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and I appreciate that I didnt feel like they were trying to upsell me. Well definitely be back.
