The piercer was knowledgeable and fast. I appreciated the time she took afterwards to give me some extra tips on care and to make sure I understood the cleaning instructions. I look forward to returning once my piercing is healed. Their selection of jewelry is impressive.

Mixed feelings about the place but Mohair Pear always is and always will be a College Hill staple. They have a great assortment of clothing, knickknacks, gag items, and of course body jewelry. I’ve gotten a handful of clothing items and jewelry from here. Being watched and followed around the store was definitely an issue with what I assume to be previous staff. Coming from a retail environment myself I definitely understand the need to prevent loss, it just seemed excessive at times when I would come in with no bag and my hands behind my back in view almost the entire time. I can understand how that could have and did make customers uncomfortable. Since then, probably the last year or so, I would say the vibe changed in a good way. Staff are still very attentive, you will get greeted at the front door and checked on regularly, but it’s not in a way that’s suffocating. There’s been times I’ve dang near had them take out every jewelry drawer just to buy one or two items because in particular and they’re always really patient and nice about it. Other nights I’ve come in for a quick stop 30 minutes before close and I don’t feel an unwelcoming vibe or like I’m being rushed, and because I also get the dread of people coming in last minute, I can respect it. I can’t speak much on their piercing aspect, as I haven’t had anything done there and just been a “hand holder” for other people. I’m not a huge fan of the door being open leading into a busy shopping environment, but it’s whatever works for the business. Overall cool shop and definitely a place I tell people to check out in the Cedar Valley.

I was always scared to get a piercing from Mohair Pear because Ive heard stories about having bad piercing experiences from there. My niece got her septum done and had no issue, and the price she paid was a great price, so a month after she got hers, I went and got my septum done. I had a great experience. The piercer that did it explained everything to me before the piercing and after. This is my 12th piercing, and Im very pleased with my overall experience.

Really affordable and a great selection of jewellery items. I got my navel pierced today and the experience was so gentle and easy and the piercer was extremely nice. While the piercing itself did hurt, the piercer made sure everything went quickly and explained the steps and aftercare, and the ladies at the register were very kind in helping me choose my jewellery, and I was able to get two extra pieces to wear when I’m healed with the deal they have going on at the moment.

Meh. I love the shop. Its so cute and theres so much cool stuff. The ladies in the shop were super sweet. However... I had an appointment to get my daughters nose pierced at noon. And at noon the one lady said that the piercer is normally late in the morning. At 12:20, another older lady walked past me stating the piercer is normally 20 minutes late. At that point my patience was gone... I was literally about to ask for a refund on my entire purchase when the piercer finally walked in. Now she did do a great job with the piercing. However I received no apology for her being 30 minutes late. I also dont think its okay that its normalized by the other staff members that she is late. That whole ordeal was super disappointing and not good business.😔

We took the kiddos to get their ears pierced. Thank you Mohair Pear for providing a fun, unique, atmosphere, friendly staff, a wide variety of jewelry, and a very professional piercer. The kids are very happy with their new ear accessories.

Staff is very nice. The store has clothes and a lot of other cool things. I got my helix pierced here and it was amazing! They let me pick the jewelry. I picked a hoop and they had many different color options which were only $5 extra. My piercer Sara was very nice and explained what she was doing very well. The shop was very clean and professional and I will definitely come back here

I went in to get my philtrum (Medusa) pierced two days ago, by Katie and she was very nice and understanding of walking me through the process and explaining what I could expect for a of pain after I stated I was not good with piercings.I had to come in and get a longer bar today, and there was a different piercing lady there, but she knew right what to do, in order to accommodate for my freshly done piercing to make the process more comfortable! I also learned new ways to care for my piercing and to help with the healing! Thank you very much! I will be back!

For sure won’t be back had a appointment waited 40 mins after appointment time and then they used the wrong bar to Pierce my tongue it made the hole way bigger than it should of been I should of just drove the other hour to where I got my last two Piercings done at for sure do not recommend this place spend the extra money and go somewhere where they no what they are doing

I got a septum piercing here about a week back and I was genuinely impressed with how cheap it was including the sanitizer and jewelry I definitely plan to return to buy more jewelry and other items (I also got the cool sunglasses here! 😎)

Took my daughter to get her nose pierced for her 18th birthday. The staff was awesome!!! They walked her through everything from picking out the jewelry all the way through the aftercare after the piercing. I would highly recommend them!!!

The owners and staff ate so nice and so helpful. This is a one-of-a-kind store in the Cedar Falls area. Most unique selection. I definitely recommend stopping in.

Its a really unique and neat little store, I used to love visiting on my lunch break...I would give them 5 stars If they didnt train their associates to basically bum rush you when you get In the store?If you dont know what you want is almost like you are immediately suspect? Some of us who have social challenges would prefer to be able to enter a store and not be immediately questioned or followed under the guise of them being helpful ...I mean its understandable if someone is meandering fora long length of time and not buying anything to them ask them if they need help...the immediate door ambush might be helpful to some, but the energy is so obviously not what they are portraying.It doesnt make sense for most shoppers and for the kind of store they are for someone to know what they want or even want to be asked that immediately upon entering . Its weird.example: They Immediately ask you what your looking for of which I dont often know, I just want to browse? I really dont.know most of the time, theres A LOT to look at...I like to browse on break, get ideas etc. They seem to expect everyone to be stealing by the way in which they watch you, its just really uncomfortable.I dont feel comfortable just enjoying the ambiance and looking around anymore. I dont know if theyve had a serious issue with theft or what, if so, I mean I guess I get it...but it would make more sense to install security cameras in my opinion ...versus making customers uncomfortable.Just my 2 cents, they have lovely team members and are a great establishment over all! I hope they stay around!!

Needed my Monroe replaced after losing- they have a huge assortment of jewelry. Piercer was professional and fast. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful. The store itself is fun- with a lot of unique merchandise.

Whenever I good I get a really good vibe from the staff. I got my eyebrow peirceing done there and the lady that did it w as s nice and gave me her number if I had any questions which I did but called the store which was still super understanding and nice. I love all the random things they have

I got a captive bead ring when I got pierced, but it ended up causing a lot of problems. All I will say is, they shouldn’t put captive bead rings on new piercings. They should recommend studs to their clients, instead of letting us pick whatever ring we want. Studs are perpendicular to the skin, so they don’t move around, but rings do move around a lot, causing problems. I got a bump near my piercing, and had to consult them afterwards. They kept telling me to “use a warm compress” or “use tea tree oil”. Every single person I know who’s familiar with piercings told me not to use tea tree oil. I ended up consulting a different piercing store, and they said I should’ve changed out the jewellery long ago. They also said tea tree oil was a bad choice. Long story short, go somewhere else, not here. They’re cheaper for a reason.

Great customer service, piercer was great. Lots of things to look at and plenty of people working to help with what you are looking for. Pricing for the piercing was less than Ive paid at other places. Will definitely be returning.

Customer service is awesome. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I bought some sunglasses that had an imperfection I didn’t notice until I started wearing them outside. They made the exchange process extremely easy even though I didn’t have a receipt. Love stopping by this store!

I went in to get my nose pierced. Let them know beforehand I have a super big fear of needles, so I likely would need some more time to collect myself before I get it pierced. About 5 minutes into the piercing time (which was already 45 minutes behind schedule) My piercer, Katie, tells me I have 60 seconds to get this piercing, or I can just come back another day. There was no one waiting for anything behind us. I was calm at this point, and her comment resulted in an increase of stress for me, which ended in me crying. When I began to cry, she then tossed her needle down, very dramatically, and ripped her gloves off. I then had my friend go, and during my friends piercing the piercer kept dropping the ball on the ground, resulting in a prolonged painful experience. It seemed as though she was not accommodating towards anyone, and upset that I was calming myself down. Ive had an amazing experience here before, but it was with a different piercer.

I always enjoy visiting this shop. They have the coolest stuff and the cutest accessories. They always greet me with a smile and are very polite/ friendly. And when they didnt have the vinyl record that i was looking for they offered to order it for me. I have also gotten a couple piercings from them and that was fantastic to. Healed just fine and look perfect. Love you guys. 💓

A fun trendy place to go get quirky goods. Staff has always been friendly and prices are decent. Giving it a 3 star because I got my belly button pierced and it got very infected shortly after, even with consistent cleaning; Ive heard other stories like this so for piercings maybe go elsewhere.

I’ve gotten all my piercings here (7 in total) and Sara did an amazing job on all of them! They have amazing clothes and super cute decor! Love that they require vaccinations for piercings makes me feel safe and the space clean! 10/10 would recommend to everyone I know!

I love this shop/piercing parlor! Hundreds of cute kitschy items, and cute new/gently used clothes. Things for all ages! Ive gotten my flat, and forward helix done here with great results. I have had over 2 dozen piercings over the years due to the fact that I have extremely sensitive skin. I was so impressed with my results that I had had my 2 teenage daughters cartilage pierced here as well. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 is for some of the prices. A tad bit more than others.

I have been to this store twice. The first time I went, I was refused jewelry in the size I needed for my septum because I had sized up and it’s not the “standard size”. So they sold me 2 rings in the standard size but told me it was the size that I had asked for. The second time I went, more recently, the employees immediately assumed I was stealing, followed me around the store, took anything I grabbed to the register, and were watching back tapes of me looking through their store as I was standing there paying. I could see their phone screen with videos of me shopping on it. The manager was friendly about it over the phone, but unfortunately I think she was one of the people working when that incident occurred. I have not left the house in 4 months due to my mental health, and this was my first interaction back in public. ☹️ This is a cool store, but I won’t be returning.

This is such an awesome store! Its always fun to shop here. My daughters love the clothes and jewelry and I love the unique gifts and funny stuff I see while shopping.

I like coming here when I come to town, I get body jewelry and stickers. Today though an employee accidentally put an entire case of nose jewelry in my bag, so I took it back in and gave it to her but felt like they thought I took it. Update, the jewelry I bought is very weak and flimsy. It was $10 for my hoop that’s supposed to be captive and click shut, but it barely stays closed. Kind of disappointed.

I went in today to get my ear lobes pierced and everyone was super friendly! The earrings I picked out are absolutely stunning. Sara did a good job talking me through everything and answering any questions I had. Definitely would recommend getting your piercings done here.

I love going to this store. The clothes and accessories are very good quality and they have great prices. The employees are always so kind to me and i love talking to them. I am planning on getting an industrial bar there soon. I have never gotten a piercing there before.

The older cashiers are so rude and they have no retail personality. Not to mention they sell unsafe body jewelry. Just because its cheap doesn’t mean its worth a rejected piercing and rude employees.

I got my belly button pierced there and my nose! The cashiers were very sweet each time and the lady who pierced me both times was so gentle very kind. Reassuring! So glad I choose to go there!

This store is throw back vintage, clam yet EXCITING. Service was nice, calm, and friendly! The price is great, and the cloth are cool! I found a vintage dress that was from the 1950s I love it!

I purchased septum jewelry for here and it was beyond cheap and flimsy! It fell out and was lit within a week of purchasing. This was because of how cheaply made the piece was. I have never had an issue like this with any other piece of septum jewelry i have ever purchased and am very dissatisfied with mohair. I will likely not be shopping here again.

Some of the worst customer service I’ve gotten anywhere since the pandemic. One other person was in the store when I came in and out of two employees on the floor no one greeted me, and I had never been there before so I went to the sign that says piercings wait here. Waited for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Once someone finally talked to me I was told that I could not get my nose pierced like they said I could on the phone because I don’t have my Covid vaccination, which I can’t get anyways. There was no disclosure about this so I drove an hour round-trip for absolutely nothing, and waited 15 minutes for employees who were standing around to do their job.

The atmosphere is amazing and the people are so nice and helpful! I love going in a just browsing. Its like finding something new every time! I also got my eyebrow pierced here and I want to come back for my ears.

This place is really neat. Its not quite an antique store nor is it like a thrift store. They sell rental suits and tuxedos, vintage clothing, pins, keychains, incense, records, and a whole bunch more. Its a very nice hipster styled store. The prices were very reasonable. Ill definitely revisit if Im back in the area.

By the way, to all the people who are complaining about infected piercings: theyre infected because you dont take care of them, its not the shops fault that you dont know how to care for a piercing. Got my right eyebrow pierced there and its been wonderful ever since, because I actually take care of it.

Ive always loved Mohair, however Ive come to notice a decline in product quality. Also, I bought a set of plugs and it was the cashier who sold me the wrong size yet they wont exchange them nor return them. The first thing we heard when we walked in the door was about these pointless masks. I dont need ANYONE DICTATING in my life-especially not a place I always thought was about empowering the people. It really changed my views about this place and why Ive always loved it. Apparently I was wrong. That, or theyve changed their beliefs. Either way, I prolly wont be back until they get off the communist mask tyranny.

Ive always really liked mohair pear. Their merchandise has always set them apart from other shops. Ive always really enjoyed myself when im browsing their shelves, despite the over-priciness and the hovering employees.Yesterday however, there was another issue that ive never really noticed or really had to deal with before because I usually dont spend that much money there during a single excursion. But when you use a debit or credit card, they just give you a receipt with the total cost listed on it but nothing else -- no itemized list on it in any form. So when I thought they charged me too much, I went to add up my items and compare that total to my receipt. But unfortunately, none of the 3 t-shirts i had purchased had tags on them anymore.I do want to add, tho, that i really like the little signs and buttons they have now that are curse words but in cross-stitch.

Got my conch pierced here. Was very clean and professional. She dotted my ear and asked me if thats exactly where I wanted it before proceeding. The tools were sterilized and she definitely knew what she was doing. The actual piercing along with putting in the jewelry took all of 10 seconds. Highly reccomend and dont forget to tip your piercer.

Really fun store. Vintage, eclectic, hippie/hipster, nerdy, trendy merch. Can be a little pricey. They do piercings and have a good variety of jewelry. There is a section for quirky random items that are really fun for new college students coming in. Excellent for finding clothes or accessories for themed parties, or your favorite weird friends birthday. A college staple for UNI students!!

Extremely rude customer service. I got a piercing a few months ago and shop there on occasion for their knick knacks and usually the snooty behavior from some of the staff is tolerable. However today I was flabbergasted by the treatment I received.When I first got my piercing, the piercer assured me that she would help me change it when I got new jewelry for the first time. I called in advance to make sure this would be ok and the person who answered the phone said theyd be glad to help. However, when I went to the counter and asked the older woman if she could ask the piercer to help me when she was free, she became instantly rude when she found out that I bought my own jewelry. She even told me that if I didnt want to support small businesses, I could have amazon change my piercing for me. When I told her that was incredibly rude she doubled down and even denied being rude in the slightest, again saying that I have a responsibility to support local businesses. I didnt bother mentioning that I support her business frequently and just left with no plans on returning.Immediately after, I went to another local piercer and they were glad to help me change my jewelry, even though I didnt originally get my piercing there or buy new jewelry there.

Sarah pierced my septum a few days ago and I had great experience. Both she and the woman working the register were very friendly. She asked me multiple times if I had any other questions before and post piercing. She took the time to explain after care, when it was okay to change the jewlery, and my questions about stretching my septum to a larger jewlery size in the future, as well as the types of metals to use for my piercing. I did not make an appointment, just walked in and was able to get it done within 10ish minsReally cool selection of offbeat, alternative and hippie clothes and accessories. Super cool store, and I will be visiting again.

About 6 months ago I got my nose pierced with my friend for my birthday. The piercer was very nice and could tell that my friend and I were nervous. She eased my friend into it and my friend had no problem (she has a lower pain tolerance than me) then it was my turn and once it was done I got nauseous and ended up throwing up. She offered me water and oranges. It was also very quick. The cashier was also very polite and told us her preferences of jewelry. Going back Saturday hopefully to get 2 more piercings. So excited.

Buyer beware. They have a no return policy. It is posted, but not in locations your eye is drawn to, and it was never mentioned in my interaction with the employees. I purchased a print there, and even mentioned I was not certain the person I purchased it for would like it. Yet no mention of a no return policy.

Coolest shop in Cedar Falls. They have some retro shirts and dresses, and various accessories: hats, necklaces/braclets, sunglasses and of course jewelry. Good prices and quality, ignoring the $20 t-shirts. The piercing may be a little sketchy. My partner pierced her septum here, it wound up taking months to heal and didnt seem quite right. But there wasnt actual infection or anything and it seems fine now. The store part is definitely great, piercing maybe head across the street to ritual.

They didn’t size my piercing correctly. They offered me a receipt, but yet when I came in and said this doesn’t fit me, they don’t do refunds, and they didn’t ask for a receipt.

I was followed by an employee through the store. There were 4 of us and 1 person had an item to purchase with them. I am biracial while my 3 friends are white and 1 of the 3 employees was watching me walk through the store and was not subtle about it. One friend eventually had to call her out and she proceeded to say Im just doing my job. Its ironic because her shirt said stop bias. She continued to yell over my friend about how we were wrong. We were so uncomfortable we left but not before the other employees (the piercer and another woman) all said were just doing our jobs. So they should learn something about Microaggression, or find another job paying extra attention to people of color is a necessity since that seems to be their specialty. If youre a POC I wouldnt go in unless youd like to be followed the whole time.

By far the worst place I’ve ever gone to get a piercing. Yes they have nice jewelry and cute clothes but aside from that it’s awful. Got my tragus done and not even a week later it was infected and was so swollen you couldn’t see the earring but not only that, the lady that did my piercing was rude.

Great for all kinds of piercings. Any piercing is 30 dollars. I have gotten two piercings there and plan to go back for more. Everyone who works there is very nice, and were very helpful in aiding my search for which items I wanted.

I have, of course, heard the horror stories about Mohair Pears piercings, Infections, crooked piercings that never heal, but I was suckered in by a sign that said 20$. I got my septum pierced and it took all of about a minute and a half. She didnt bother to check, let alone recheck, the clamps before she told me to breath in and shoved a needle through my nose. She handed me a paper and I was then ushered out of the room with a look and raised eyebrows.The piercing was beyond crooked. I would have said something there if I had had a chance to really look at it. I took it out when I got home because it was too crooked not to. After years of hearing the stories I can finally say for myself that they are true. The piercer herself was also very rude and one of the worst professionals I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with.20$? Save your money. Paying a little more is worth it.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. I came in to get a nose piercing and Im very sensitive to metals. They took the time to make sure I received the best style and metal for my piercing.

I love this shop but i do not recommend getting a piercing here. I got my nipples pierced recently and the lady accidentally pierced my areola. When i went back to get it repierced, she pierced it crooked. At this point, i wish i never got them pierced in the first place.

Went with my girlfriend when she got her belly button piercing. The store felt clean and friendly, and the person who did the piercing was very precise, quick, and professional.

I got my belly pierced like 2 weeks ago. And Its not infected at all Its just not healing right because I need a bigger bar. but other then that the peircer was nice and everyone was helpful.

Came in for jewelry was sold two different sizes of lip rings but was refused to have the one switched to have the same size. Person selling them to me was rude. I wont be coming back anytime soon.

Got my belly button pierced there. it’s totally crooked and they pierced too much skin between causing the normal size rings to sink into my skin!!! i now have to get custom made bars that are 3x more expensive because of it!

Got my two cartilage piercings done, both are infected. The metal they gave me was fake. My friends navel got infected. We both cleaned them as we were told with the spray and sea salt soaks. You pay for what you get ig.

Super cool indie college town shop with a great blend of retro and nuevo retro, hipster and hippie. Prices cant be beat. Piercings available and cool jewelry to put in those new holes.

My friend went in there to get her nose pierced, I went along to hopefully see her cry a little. They were very professional and I left dissatisfied but my friend was very satisfied and tear free.
