Honey and Vinegar Tattoos

I recently moved to Cedar Falls and was looking for an artist that specialized in realism and landed on the artists at Honey and Vinegar Tattoo. The shop has a friendly and welcoming environment with great music bumpin in the background! Everyone was very personable and talkative while tattooing. I worked with James and received a world class tattoo experience, incredibly professional, nice, and passionate about what he does! If you’re looking for a place to get your next tattoo in the cedar valley look no further, Honey and Vinegar is the spot!

This is directed at Aaron. He did such an awesome tattoo of a bee and flowers. I cant find the words to describe the joy i get.looking at my bee. Im sure itll get noticed and loved. Ill give Aarons name. I also want to express the gratitude to handling a awkward situation.

My boyfriend and I got tattoos with Isaiah this weekend and he did such a good job! Very friendly and patient walking through the process of selecting font and making it a good experience for us the entire time we were there. We love how they turned out.

I worked with James at Honey & Vinegar. He had fast, clear, and easy communication. I had no idea what I wanted visually, I gave him a couple simple ideas and he created something magical for me. I just finished this tattoo with him and l plan on booking another as soon as I get home. I could tell even during our consultation how deeply he cares about his clients and his work, and during the actual tattoo appointment we held good, meaningful conversation. I hope any tattoos I ever receive in the future are done at Honey & Vinegar.

I have had work done at several different shops with different artists, and this was by far the best experience! The shop itself is beautiful and clean. The artists take their time and ensure the work they are providing is right for their clients. I had the pleasure of working with James for my tattoo, and it is wonderful! James also did a great job of making me feel welcome. The whole process was great- I highly recommend.

I recently got my first tattoo! It was a bigger piece so I got the pleasure of spending an entire day at Honey and Vinegar Tattoos being tattooed by James. He was great throughout the whole process from emailing about what I would like, the consultation and finally tattoo day. Isaiah was also in the shop working on someone else and both him and James give off the best, most genuine vibes. The shop is very aesthetically pleasing, clean and calming(seriously check it out). I had to travel a ways but it was totally worth it, I’d do it all over again and I’m sure I’ll be back at some point. Highly recommend them!

Just got my first tattoo here from Amanda. She was extremely kind and helpful and made my idea come to life even better than what I had imagined. She walked me through the whole process so I wasnt too anxious (high praise from me!) and you can tell she really cares about her art. She has a great eye for detail. The tattoo turned out awesome.The shop is awesome too--a super cool place with very relaxed vibes, great music playing in the background, and overall very welcoming. Everything is kept super clean. I definitely recommend H&V for anyone looking to get a tattoo in the CF area.

Got my first tattoo ever done by Aaron and he was so great. Was very informative and it was a comfortable experience. The tattoo turned out super cool and I will definitely (hopefully) be going there again!

Had the pleasure of working with Isaiah who helped bring my rough idea to the fullest extent of what I wanted. While I was getting work done I had the pleasure of meeting the whole staff who were kind, encouraging, and a joy to be around. It felt like a team celebrating an artist at work, rather than looking to make money off of some random photo I found online. I’ll be coming back for any future tattoos I get.

Wow! What can I say? Amanda is absolutely amazing! This was my first tattoo, and she took the time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted and that I was comfortable. She is so nice and friendly, and she did an amazing job! I love the cute and comfy vibe of the shop-definitely unique and different from any I’ve seen before. I drove an hour to get here and it was well worth it, and I’d do it over and over again. THANK YOU AMANDA!

The only place I will ever go for tattoos! I have a few other tattoos but recently started a sleeve with Isaiah. I can not say enough good things about this shop. Everyone is so welcoming & the amount of passion all 3 artists have shows. Isaiah has made the whole process so easy & enjoyable. I know a general idea of what I am looking for but the knowledge and education he has around what works best and what flows best is extremely helpful. I make the drive from Ames and it’s truly worth it for the quality & experience!

The only person I’ll ever let tattoo me again is James!! He’s done a couple pieces on me and he is extremely talented, along with the other owner, Isaiah. They both have great personalities that make you feel very welcomed and comfortable, especially if it’s your first tattoo. Very cute place that smells AMAZING. I can’t recommend any other place to get a tattoo.

Best tattoo shop in Iowa, if not the country. Like a previous review stated, traveled a lot of places, and always try to come back and get tattooed here. James, Isiah, and Amanda are all phenomenal artists and incredibly professional tattooers. From quick walk in ideas to planned consultation and multi session pieces, this place is amazing. Clean, professional, and chill. If you’re going to get a tattoo in the CV, I implore you to check out H&V. I will be coming back until I’m dead, they kick me out, or I run out of skin to be inked.

My wife and I have been going to James for 4 years. In those 4 years he’s been the most professional artist I’ve ever had, and I’ve been in shops all over the USA. He’s an excellent artist he works with your ideas and makes it 100% unique. He’s truly the best artist I’ve ever had ink me, and I will continue to go to him for all my tattoos. This shop is clean amazing and very aesthetically pleasing! Every artist there is so talented and kind. You will truly enjoy your experience and won’t be disappointed with your ink you get from here! I highly recommend this shop.

Went to Honey and Vinegar a few days ago to get a forearm tattoo from Isaiah. First thing I noticed was how clean and welcoming the shop was, and how kind the artists are. Isaiah did an incredible job on my tattoo, and you can tell how much attention he pays to the small details. Everything was sanitized and he changed his gloves multiple times throughout the hours it took to finish my tattoo. If you’re looking to get a tattoo in the northeast Iowa area, Honey and Vinegar is definitely the place to go!

Got my tattoo from Isaiah Patton at H&V. Seriously the best. James and Amanda are pretty chill too. Super professional atmosphere and the best artists. Took the time to not only create a piece perfect for me, but really took the time to get to know me and figure out my connection to tattoos and go in depth with it. Pretty much only gonna go back to H&V only from now on!

Honestly cant say enough good things about this place! James is my one and only tattoo artists I refuse to go anywhere else going forward - professional, talented, and extremely communicative through the whole process! Isiah was super helpful and did everything he could to accommodate me with my schedule in regards to just scheduling the tattoo. Seems like they take more pride then most in serving their customers!

James does an amazing job walking you through the entire process. He is incredibly helpful with the conceptualization of the artwork and his expertise really brings it alive. 10/10 would recommend

Can not speak more highly of this place. Isaiah is not only a great artist, but a person who by the end of my consultation had my complete trust in regards to a permanent addition of art onto my body. Proper lad.
