My husband has been going here for his tattoos and the owner of the place, Cat, is amazing. Her work is wonderful and she has a great personality. Easy to get along with. Ill be getting my tattoo here in a bit. Im so excited.

Cat listened to my wants for my sleeve. Ive been working on it for 2 years and though we basically re routed the entire concept of it, u could not be happier with what I am getting. Shes an amazingly talented artist and I cant wait to see my finished sleeve!

Watercolor queen. Went to a guy twice and both times it wasnt at all what I wanted and didnt fix it correctly. Went to cat and she knew exactly what to do to fix it and cover the old up in a way that it all went together. If I could give 10/5 I 100% would. Keep being awesome cat!!! Oh and the tattooing areas so probably the cleanest Ive ever seen!!

Cat is amazing! She is a superb artist and has a wonderful personality. This shop is up to date on all the newest technology and fads. If you are looking for a flash shop with millions of ideas on the wall to pick from this would NOT be your shop! The ladies here definitely have the ability to do such a thing for you but pride themselves on creating something unique to you. The shop is very clean and relaxing. Everything is packaged and gloves and sterile. Black and white, amazing color that pops, cartoon or real, they can do it. Thistle & Fern is by appointment only! Be sure to contact them to set your appointment and be ready to wait just a bit. A great tattoo is worth the wait and the $ you put into it; after all its something you will live with for the rest of your life!

I had a wonderful experience here at Thistle & Fern! The environment felt cheerful and inviting. The place was clean and sanitary. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. Amanda did a fantastic job on my tattoo and Im over the moon. I felt immensely comfortable and right at home in her care. I will definitely return here for my next tattoo. Highly recommended!

Cat is an incredibly talented tattoo artist and a lovely human being. She is kind, gentle, and makes her tattoo clients feel comfortable and heard. Theres so many good things to say, so its break this up into shop and artist!Shop - Thistle & Fern is a lovely and clean shop with a bright and comforting atmosphere. The moment you walk in, you feel at home.Artist - I have been seeing Cat for some years now, I drive from Madison to see her. And even if she is booked, she is worth the wait! She has a steady, gentle hand and she is very patient and intuitive with her clients. I love how she seems to operate on my wave length when it comes to designs. She always blows me away. And the other artists in the studio are so lovely and friendly as well!I wish I could give a five star rating a hundred times over! Thank you for always taking such good care of me!

Cat is amazing!! She is so diverse in all of her art styles! If you can think it she can put the art work together that will blow you away! Ive had multiple tattoos from her and know a ton of people that have used her as well. There is no one else I would let touch my skin!

Cat McCarthy is a great tattoo artist but is incredibly terrible at customer service. Over a few months span I was rescheduled 5-6 times for various reasons. One excuse was car trouble, so I even offered to pick her up since I took the whole day off to get this tattoo. Then she proceeds to private message me and say car trouble was misleading and that she was dealing with personal issues at home. I have never had to work so hard to try to get a tattoo before, she made me feel like she didn’t want to do it in the first place. She would have saved me a lot of time by just telling me she was either too busy to do it, or didn’t want to. I was very patient and understanding the first few times, but after the third time I just knew that each time she would come up with an excuse.I am no expert in tattoos by any means, but I also felt like she over quoted me as well. It was a black ink piece (a slight cover up) roughly 5 inches by 7 inches mandala tattoo for $600. She has told me in the photo below that she is going to refund my deposit and has yet to send that as well. I would not recommend this tattoo artist to anyone, unless you don’t want a tattoo for a long, long, long time or want to jump around her scheduling book.*** I got my deposit back, thank you for that.***

All of the ladies here are super talented! I’ve been tattooed by 3/4ths of the shop and every tattoo has exceeded my expectations. The shop is very clean and comfortable. Definitely a different, more welcoming vibe than any tattoo shop I’ve ever been to. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Big city artwork with small town charm.Cat at T&F is putting tattoos into the world that youd expect to have to fly out to NY or LA for, without leaving Decatur. I could write volumes, but her portfolio honestly speaks for itself.Call or drop by to set up an appointment, as talent like this can be booked up for weeks (sometimes months). Absolutely worth it to wait instead of just swinging into whatever shop has walk-ins always open.

The owner of Thistle & Fern is super friendly and was available to field questions for me when I started my search 3 months ago. She wasnt able to help me with what I needed(no piercer at this shop) but was over the top helpful in recommending a shop in Huntsville that had the best piercer in a hundred mile radius. Definitely would recommend to a friend or even my own mom based off of this treatment alone.

Amanda is the best! Shes killing it. Shes light handed and fast, but still takes enough time that I dont feel she rushes through anything. Very thorough, in fact! I will definitely be returning!

Adriana was absolutely amazing! Clean crisp line work. Amazing atmosphere and she was super nice and welcoming! I wish I could give 10 stars! I cant wait to go back for all my future work!

This is the absolute best tattoo company. Very clean, professional, friendly, and talented. I have had several tattoos by Cat, and I will keep coming back for more. Highly recommended.

Location in old decatur is the best. Like going to a small town! The people there are nice and the shop was clean and new! Was greeted nicely and got all the info needed in a short amount of time. Will review again when tattoo is done!

Absolutely incredible!! This place should show up 1st on every search country wide! Doesnt matter how far you would have to travel!! It is WELL worth it!! I came from Colorado for a tattoo by Cat!! FANTASTIC!!

Cat is truly beyond talented!The only word I can think of to accurately describe her is pure MAGIC!!! Ive had all of my work done by her, and I never plan for that to change!She goes above and beyond to the point that I sent her a picture of a tattoo that I wanted (a watercolor bird skeleton flash art that I found online).She thought the bone structure looked off, so she took it upon herself to research it. She found the correct skeleton and re-drew it from scratch.Not many people would ever take that extra step, and thats what makes her extraordinary!!!

Customer service was poor, I can’t speak on the talent as I didn’t actually receive my tattoo. The shop was very cute and clean though.
