Iconic Tattoo & Body Piercing

First experience at Iconic and couldn’t have been more impressed by my tragus piercing with Rich! He was patient and gentle, taking time to explain the piercing process and healing requirements in great depth. He is a wealth of knowledge and it is clear he genuinely cares for his customers and about his craft. I’ve been pierced a multitude of times throughout the years and this was by far my best experience. The piercing came out perfect and I feel prepared to care for it properly. Will definitely be back for all future piercings!

As a kid, my ears were pierced at the mall with a piercing gun. They became infected & I had to let them close. Many, many years later as an adult, I decided to give it another go - but didnt want the mall experience again. I found Rich at Iconic Tattoo & Body Piercing. From the initial phone call to my appointment - I felt comfortable and well cared for and knew that I made the best decision. Rich is professional, kind, and very patient. He not only explained every step, but provided knowledge, and very detailed after care instructions. The shop was extremely clean and Rich followed all protocols. I highly recommend his services and would return without hesitation.

Rich is incredibly good at his job. I was educated about every step of the process in a way that was caring and knowledgeable, and made to feel comfortable the entire time. I’d recommend him for any and all of your piercing needs.

I got a body piercing that went pretty smoothly but still disappointed in with the experience.There’s strict appointment-only policy, which is fine but I came 8 minutes before my appointment and still had to wait another 40 minutes after my scheduled time. Even the woman at the front desk admitted there wasn’t an emergency. It was just pretty disrespectful, especially considering I had to pay a deposit when I made the appointment and it would’ve been kept if I was 45 minutes late.The shop was clean and the piercing went fine, but nothing exceptional compared to the many other tattoo and piercing shops I’ve been to. The hypocrisy regarding punctuality will keep me from returning.

Last year, I went in for an appointment to get my ears pierced. Due to medical reasons, they told me I needed to wait about 6 months but I was asked to pay a deposit for that appointment anyway. 6 months pass and I start calling to make an appointment. They never pick up or call me back. After a few weeks of calling them, I gave up and went to a different piercer.So in the end, I paid them for a service and they just ignored me. I know Ill never get that money back (without leaving a 1-star review).Update:I received an email from them yesterday suggesting I should delete or update this review. I have no idea why Id delete it, so Im updating it instead. I do want to say, I was able to get ahold of them and they did return my money.I removed where I said scammers. I realized I shouldnt attribute to malice that which can be explained by sheer incompetence.To address their statements that I didnt leave a voicemail was simply false. I did leave voicemails. Its not my fault their system doesnt work. Also they mention that I didnt email the studio but did email Rich. Why bring this up since as they said they dont make appointments via email?I do find it very telling though that they were so proactive to responding to my review and emailing me to remove/update this review, but were not proactive at all about getting me an appointment. I emailed Rich and its been what, 8 months now and they never followed up? But I leave a bad review and they respond within a day and then email to follow up about it a couple days after. Clearly they care more about their review than customers.

This place is awesome. It was very clean inside and has a great vibe.Steve does amazing work and a great guy. He’s open to ideas during the design and takes his time with placement. I would definitely recommend him to anybody.

I got my piercings put back in after I had surgery and the staff was so nice and helpful! My piercer (whose name I unfortunately do not remember but he had dreads!) was very knowledgeable and the shop was extremely clean!

Rich is great- highly recommended. He’s done 2 sets of ear piercings on my daughter and made her (and me) very comfortable.

Nobody answers the phone, but website says to phone them for an appt. Ive tried calling on different days three times during open hours.Edit: for the reply from the business: I cant leave a voicemail because it wont let me. On all occasions Ive called, after a couple rings, the call disconnects and wont take me to voicemail. Ive tried calling from other phones and its the same. If I was able to leave a voicemail, I would have.

Had an amazing experience today with CJ one of the tattoo artist. I was nervous and he was kind,ive waited 11 years to have this redone. I am very pleased with the results iconic Tattoos was Professional and clean environment, very welcoming.

Ive been into the shop before for tattoos, but just had my first piercing from Rich. The shop is clean from the front desk to the piercing room. Rich was very pleasant to work with. Hade sure I was comfortable, and very through with explaining the process and making sure my piercing was perfect, as well as making sure every step met hygienic standards. I left well informed on the healing process and aftercare, and a very happy client. I will be continuing to recommend Iconic to anyone who asks for both tattoos and piercings.

Super impressed with Steve. True professional at his craft. He did not rush the stencil. We looked a couple different sizes and anatomical graphics to get this right. He also had to hear my wierd thoughts on life, so props to him. The shop however is a nice clean building, which I appreciate from a health and sterile perspective, but they keep thier front door locked. It just looks like a closed up shop from the outside. Please update your covid policy to make a more open and welcome environment.

My name isnt Lindsay. My daughter left a voicemail on your store landline and then your receptionist called her and said she had to speak to rich about the jewelry. She then texted my daughter about date to pick up. My daughter texted her and she was replying to the the number she got the text from to confirm the date with no response. She wasnt texting a landline. She called and texted that number several times. She even called the shop number. I was with my daughter when she sent the texts and left the voicemails so you can claim she didnt but she did. You claim you called me but my daughter was 19. Why would you be calling me? You bought up email when I never said I used that contact.I have spoken to a few pierces that said you keeping the jewelry at all was suspect. The fact you keep your door locked in 2024 under COVID safety is suspect. You tried to rip off a 19 year old girl and it didnt work.Editing this to one star. They stole a $100 piercing from my daughter. Her body was rejecting the piercing and Rich said he would hold on to it for her until after it healed and she wanted to get it redone. After she decided she didnt want to get it redone a few months later we called and texted several times and they havent returned any of our messages about getting the jewelry or the money after speaking to the woman who answers the phone and makes the appointments. She said she would speak to Rich to find the jewelry and now they wont respond to us at all. Its not like we can exactly go down and confront them in person either because they wont answer the door for anyone who isnt an appointment. How convenient.

Went in for a conch piercing. I thought Id be in and out in 15 minutes, but Rich took his time, explained the whole process, aftercare, let me pick my jewelry, etc (this was appreciated). I didnt feel like I was a bother. Everything was extremely sanitary and handled with care. Will definitely return here for future piercings!

Steve Sype is the best. Such a cool dude, very accommodating, totally professional, and a great tattooist. The shop has a super cool, laid back atmosphere. Highly recommended

I came to see Rich last month for a double flat piercing and had a great experience. He was extremely knowledgeable about what would and wouldnt work with my ear shape, and very patiently went over all my options with me. He was very gentle and explained everything as he was doing it, and worked with very sharp needles which made the pain far less than I expected. I would definitely recommend Rich to anyone who is looking to get a piercing.

We had an appointment with Rich to pierce my daughters ears. He was extremely kind, calm and thorough for the whole process. My daughter is a bit anxious and he made sure she felt and knew she was in control of process. He was very reassuring and patient. Definitely recommend!!

Stopped by at the end of 2017 for a re-ink of a tattoo, Matt was as cordial and cool as he was back in the day when he first did the work. I hope his investment endeavors he spoke of at the time have come to fruition. Great atmosphere, very chill, check them out you will love the results.

I went to Iconic recently to get my first larger and visible tattoo done by Casper and I am so happy with the result. It looks so clean and professional - he was able to turn a crude drawing I brought into a beautiful composition that checked all the boxes. Will definitely return for more work in the future. Also, he was friendly and conversational, so the 3 or so hours I spent did not drag at all and he took the time to make sure it was finished to his standards. Shop is clean and they are making great strides to maintaining a sanitary space, especially now. Overall, a great experience.

I absolutely love this place. I was pierced here about 4 years ago and recently needed a change of jewelry for my nostril piercing. The staff is incredibly polite and professional. I was assisted with enthusiasm and kindness; traits that many tattoo shops lack. I was properly informed about my jewelry and received what I needed. I was 15 minutes late to my appointment, yes, but I was treated like I was an hour late and kicked their dog. For a white man with dreads, he was soooo uptight.Every time I touched the glass counter he immediately sprayed and wiped it down like I was contaminated. You just gotta laugh.Finally, he deigned to see my ear, I just needed holes re-pierced, and all he did was confirm they were closed. I said, yeah, I know, new holes please. He said I made the wrong appointment and kept my deposit. Ha!Never imagined a piercing shop in the most deserted city in America would be sooo overwhelmed at noon on a Monday, sawyyy.Bad vibes, ngl.

Steve is an incredible artist and he absolutely knocked my piece out of the park. He is also a super nice guy and made the entire experience comfortable and welcoming. I can’t recommend him enough!

Awesome shop! The environment is clean and inviting, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. My best friend and I got matching tattoos by CJ, and we were both very pleased with him and his work. He is super nice and polite, and a great new artist! We got smaller pieces with a ton of line work, and he absolutely killed it! I would recommend this shop to others, and would get more work done here.

First of all, they take health and safety VERY seriously. They are clean, they take all precautions between clients, and theyre very professional.Every phone call and every visit has been met with friendly and helpful people. My tattoo was done by Chase (who is an incredible artist) and he developed my idea into the art piece it is today. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a safe and professional experience.

I thought that the backing had popped off of a piercing that I had done five days prior in a different city and even though the shop was closed their piercer let me in and did everything to get my piercing fixed. The backing in fact had not popped off so no service was required but it was 20/10 customer service and if I ever need another piercing while in Detroit that’s where I’m going to go!

Rich is a rockstar piercer so professional, clean, knowledgeable. Took time to answer all questions and ensure a perfect septum. Will be back for more!

Great facilities and welcoming staff. Chase was awesome. Spent plenty of time with me working on getting the tattoo sized and placed the way I wanted and took over from there. Very happy with the results and would highly recommend.

Matthew gave me my first tattoo. Very nice, I felt at ease right away. He listened to me and explained things well. The salon is very nice and pleasant. I highly recommend it.

The shop itself is clean and has a nice lounge area for you to sit and wait. Friendly vibes from the staff.I seen Rich today for a nose piercing and he is amazing! He was very informative, nice, kind, funny, professional and sanitary. I can honestly say that at other shops Ive been too (for a tattoo) I would see other people get pierced (Yes right in front of me) and they would get nothing more than an alcohol pad....definitely not the case with him and you get your privacy. I give this place 5/5. Definitely will be seeing Rich again soon!

This is the only tattoo place Ill go to. The staff is always great, especially CJ--hes a brilliant artist who amazes me every time.

Had a super great experience with Rich! Got a daith piercing and I was very apprehensive but he walked me through it and was amazing throughout. Took a while to heal (as all daiths do!) But I love my piercing. Bonus: their plants are lovely ❤️

I never got to go inside or get an actual tattoo as all of the artists are pretty much booked out until after spring, however they are extremely kind and professional and definitely the kind of people you want to be around. I single handedly went through each artists portfolio and read on them and its clearly more then just a job for all the folks down at iconic. Im only 20 and I can see how much passion and life this actually fills them up with. It truly is beautiful to see I cant wait to actually get a tattoo see you in as many winters as it takes guys:)

Love this place, I have been here two times now. I have only worked with Steve so far but everyone else in there has been super kind. Everything is very clean. Steve is an incredible artist who cares about his customers being happy. I would highly recommend.

I just walked up on time for my appointment and the door was locked. Someone came to the door and told me that they are by appointment only I explained that my appointment was at this time today. I was told that my artist wasn’t there yet and I needed to go wait in my car until they called me.I sat there for about ten minutes and realized how disrespectful this was. I drove off. 20 minutes later, reception called me to let me know that I can come in, and asked if I had my own mask or if I needed them to provide one. 😳🤬 it’s May of 2022, not 2020. It’s time to let go of the hysteria.

I got black and grey roses on my forearm done by Steve back in February. I was very happy with how it came out. It was my first tattoo and it was a piece of cake and didn’t take a lot of time. Tattoo healed fast. Was happy with the price too! Definitely coming back.

Rich did a great job with my piercing and safely changing out my jewlery. He is skilled at what he does and such a kind soul. I appreciate Kelly there as well as she is welcoming and very professional. I also appreciate how they value keeping things clean and sterile. Not all piercing/ tattoo shops are like that.

The receptionist at the front desk is ethical, shes nice, patient.I had A problem filling out the form on my phone .I swear I was like computer illiterate. This shop has a classy, calm, clean and modern aesthetic. It was such a relief to walk into the space and NOT hear loud thrashing death metal (like a lot of older tattoo studios). The women who were working at the front desk the three times I went in (one for my initial consultation, one to check if the drawing was what I wanted, and one for the actual tattoo) were really friendly and welcoming. Even though I didn’t have a really clear idea of what I wanted apart from simple flowers on my forearm, Andrea came up with a really beautiful design and was equally as skilled at tattooing. She’s a fantastic artist, as are all of the people working there. This shop is highly revommended.

CJ is an incredible artist! He drafted and designed my tattoo until it was exactly what I wanted! I was nervous about getting a tattoo on my side, but he was super professional through it all and I’m so happy with the end result. Clean place and great staff. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be going back!

Went on Saturday for a long awaited PA piercing. Rich was absolutely awesome, very professional, informative, through!!! Barely felt a thing, would highly recommend him for your piercing needs. My only regret was that I waited so long to get up the nerve to get it done.

Note: I did not get my piercings done here! But I stopped in to get more cleaning solution since the piercer I had gone to was a drive away, and the staff I spoke with was extremely friendly and clearly knowledgeable. They were nice enough to answer my questions and passed along their cleaning pamphlets. Overall seemed like a very clean studio, and I would definitely consider coming here in the future!

To be clear, my experience took place in 2019 and was motivated by the death of my folks. It was to be my first tattoo and sleeve and I traveled an hour from the east-side to Iconic. I made an appt with Andrea based on her online samples and a connection to my Dad, who had taught at CCS where Andrea attended. I came in for my appt and showed her my ideas. She took a $200 deposit, committed to working on concept and scheduled me out several weeks. She later called/texted me saying she was moving and her sister was having a baby so she had no art or concept yet. She said if she didn’t complete them before appt., we could reschedule. I asked her to email me some examples before I drove another hour into the city. She provided no follow up communication. I later got a call from studio mgr telling me I missed an appt. After explaining what had occurred, he had Andrea speak to me and she said “her professional policy” was not to email art or discuss prior to an appt...then she asked me to drive in and if I didn’t like it, I could reschedule. No explanation of this at first meeting or in subsequent communication. I’m a 60 yr old Army veteran spending in excess of $1000 for my first tattoo to basically commemorate my family, she knew this, but acted insensitive and unprofessional. Lastly, Andrea’s speech was slurred in several conversations. It made me feel she was not reliable and was throwing my concept together at last minute. In the end, they refused to show me ANY art or concept or refund my deposit. I’m told she’s gone now but the owner/mgr of the shop at the time should have done right by me, either refund my money or refer me to another artist.

My Artist was Robert Casper. At the end of my first session I paid, & to my surprise he (Casper) asked if I wanted my change. Why wouldnt I?! I mean it was only $10,& I have no problem tipping,but give me a chance instead of holding my change & asking. Secondly I showed him a photo of 1 of his own pieces,because I wanted that exact same color used on my piece. Its like a bright beautiful teal blue. The colors (HE) chose were like a forest green,& green definitely isnt my favorite color. At the end of my second session I used my deposit. After I saw the colors that were chosen I knew I wasnt coming back even though my piece is incomplete. Lastly at the end of my session after paying I asked for a receipt, & Casper asked whom im assuming was the shop manager/owner ( a tall Caucasian gentleman that has dreads) if they give receipts for cash payments. The guy looked as if he didnt know what to say,so I said never mind. I couldnt believe it! This is a business. What legal business doesnt provide a receipt for services rendered.Im going to try to post pics so you can see the color I wanted,& the colors that were chosen for me. I was so excited about this piece. Now I have to look at this tattoo everyday forever feeling disappointed, AND definitely NOT happy at all... . .

Very knowledgeable, talented and professional staff along with a very clean facility. I have always had very positive experiences here, whether it be from the Rich for piercings (hes a master of his craft) or the tattoo artists for some amazing ink! There is some serious talent here that warrants your attention!

Chase was absolutely the nicest person and best tattoo artist Ive come across (and this is my 9th tattoo!) He covered up an older tattoo that elicited painful memories - the end result was better than anything I could have imagined. Only docking 1 star because the woman at the front desk was very cold, nasty and rude. But the tattoo made up for all of that!

Matt, Rich and staff are the best of Detroit. Everyone at Iconic is very professional, kind, super informed and at the top 100% of what they do. Since the days of XS, spanning to these days of Iconic, these guys have always been my #1 recommended artists. 💘

Rich was super informative and professional. They appear to be keeping very high standards of cleanliness; everyone wore a mask, kept their distance, and measured my temperature when I entered. Their waivers are e-signed so you can upload your ID and fill out all the necessary documents prior to your appointment.

I had previously went to Iconic for a tongue piercing a couple years back and since I was looking for a new artist decided to try it out since it has a good reputation.Hands down the best tattoo experience Ive ever had. I got two tattoos (my 5th and 6th) down my sides by Chase and I love them both. He was so patient and open to correction about the design. We had to rework it from the original which took time but he made sure it was to my liking.He has a gentle and fast hand and I got some great song and TV suggestions while I was there (Pyramid Song by Radiohead is a great time). Hes a great tattoo artist and a wonderful conversationalist as a plus. Definitely putting him at the top of my list if I want more.

Every tattoo shop is different just as art is subjective. But my preference is precision, and line work. Almost like a technical illustration. For this type of art, I would strongly recommend Andrea Burg, here at Iconic Tattoo. Check her work, and you Id you are like me, you will be thoroughly impressed. I cant wait to get more artwork done by her.

Absolute integrity. Sent my 19 Y/O daughter there for an industrial piercing consult. Instead of taking her money, she was told her ear anatomy was not ideal for what she wanted. and she did not get it. (gave tip).

Took my 14yr old son to get his first piercing on his earlobe. Was very happy with how thorough they were in explaining everything to him and how great of a job was done. Will return for future piercings. I highly recommend them to every one

The place itself is clean, with individual rooms for customers. That said, it is poorly run, ill-organized and the staff could use some training in how to be courteous and helpful.The two times I was there, I had to wait :15 and 1:15, respectively. Others in the waiting room clearly were having similar issues. I saw at least two customers complaining about service and there was no obvious response.My artist, who Ill simply call A, was disengaged both times, didnt listen to what I was saying and generally seemed like she would rather be doing anything besides working with me and at Iconic.Their reputation is good, but if you want to be treated decently (as a paying customer), you should probably look elsewhere.And no, I didnt get the tattoo. I walked out after the second delay (and had previously tipped A for her time as well as bringing unrequested coffees--just so haters dont think I was being a difficult client).

Went here for the first time with my girlfriend and we both got tattoos from Casper. His work is amazing and hes genuine as they come. Couldnt say anything negative about my experience.

Rich is absolutely the best, I drive an hour to go there. He did my prince Albert piercing a year and a half ago and I been back twice to up gauge it. He is very informative and professional!!

I did reviews and it said they welcome walk ins.I arrived to the shop, the lady at the desk was very unwelcoming although she said hi while getting on the phone. I stood there waiting to get information for her. She told me to hold on in the middle of conversation to answer the phone and make reservations and arrangements for whoever she was talking to on the phone and I felt that was unprofessional when I was standing there right in front of her all she could tell me was that to make an appointment I had to pay half in advance for two people but she never really gave me any information on whos the best at drawing or designing the idea that I have for my tattoo she told me I also had to set a schedule to get a consultation about this tattoo at this time I felt that she did not want to serve me so I exit the building and went to a different tattoo shops that treated me would be better customer service

The staff is very professional and helpful. Chase has a creative quality that ensures that the final design is perfect. Simply put, he is the best!!

The piercing specialist Rich was super knowledgeable I thought I was going to have to re-pierce my ears and daith but he could see my old holes and was able to reopen all of my piercings he was super clean and fast I loved it!

Nice, clean shop. fel is my artist and has been phenomenal. The other artists and workers I’ve met have all been nice as well.

They took half of my deposit during the pandemic. No phone call. I told them to just keep all my money if they needed it that bad.

Matt is very professional. Hes also a great artist, and he was happy to make changes to his design to make sure I was completely satisfied.

Steve Sype is an incredibly talented artist. I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience getting tattooed by him.

I had very bad experience with scheduling an appointment. They gave me appointment after 1 week and when i called them again after 1 week, they said we do not have any availability. Next week we might have appointment. I should have booked appointment somewhere else.
