Black Raven Tattoo

My wife and I were in town for Friday the 13th and decided to get a flash art tattoo last minute. We both experienced great customer service, ability adjust some of the art and had a great experience. Shop was clean, professional and had a good vibe.

I walked into the shop today to get a tattoo that I was struggling to find someone to do correctly. Johnny took on my request immediately and deeply listened to my requests and concerns especially since it’s my first tattoo. When time came for him to start it he was amazing. He was gentle and very kind along with talkative during the process. Highly recommended to see him! He’s outstanding!!

Johnny is awesome. Line work and color are fantastic. Absolutely professional, loves his career, and very personable. I only come to AZ once a year but this is my artist and shop :)

I just got my first tattoo yesterday as expected I was scared and nervous but ducky designed the tattoo perfectly and kept the mood light and Johnny was amazing he was very easy to talk to and let me take breaks when needed and it didn’t hurt as much as i thought thanks to the both of them.

I have been seeing Johnny Ave for about 18 months... 9 tattoos and 2 sleeves later, I am still coming to him. Hes a fantastic artist and always has your best ideas at heart. Cant wait to see what we will tattoo in these coming months!

Johnny has done two of my tattoos and I could not possibly be more happy with the outcome. He is so genuine and really knows what’s up. He really cares about the work he’s doing and strives to give 1000% of his effort every single time. He is also very honest, he will tell you if he thinks something isn’t going to look good over time and what he can do to adjust the idea. The shop is always spotless and full of artists who should have been comedians. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Stephan is great with taking his time to figure out what works for cover ups. He understood what I wanted and was honest with what would work and what wouldnt work. Hes currently doing my cover up. Hes done a great job with my husbands cover up and even free styled a tattoo that my husband wanted. He also did my daughters first tattoo! I trust him to put permanent ink on me and would recommend him to anyone. The shop is clean and everyone is professional. Ducky is also great and funny!

I have now had the pleasure of getting work done by both Stephen and Johnny and both guys did/do amazing work. They both work quick and communicate well through the whole process. I will be returning here for all my ink needs.

Shop is very clean, organized, and makes you feel at home. i had rico do my tattoo, great conversation and his attention to detail is outstanding. he made it look identical to the reference picture. definitely will be going back. highly recommend.

I have gotten 4 tattoos from Black Raven and ducky has done all 4 of them. The staff there are all super friendly and the shop is always very clean. Ducky is awesome, he really makes you feel like you are at home when you go into his shop and he always gives you a good laugh and makes the hours is the chair seem like only minutes. I definitely will be going back

Last week my daughter and I went to Black Raven tattoo for last minute tattoos. We were here for the first time, the place as clean and welcoming. We were tattooed by Ducky and he did such a great job. This was my tattoo and he my daughters tattoo and she is also really please with hers as well. My daughter wanted a tattoo that my dad had before passed away. Ducky was able to re-create his tattoo for her off a picture. Very pleased with his work.

I had Sean tattoo a deaths head hawkmothon my right calf. He did an awesome job, and was nice, relaxed, and polite. It was done very nicely and Im really happy with it. My first tattoo experience was great.

Just got a tattoo done today. Was able to get it done the same day doing a walk in. Really friendly team there. Ed did a great job with my first tattoo on my left bicep. Very happy with the results and would definitely recommend going here.

In addition the Artist at Black Raven are very seasoned Skilled Artist. I would recommend this business to all my friends and family. I got my first tattoo today with Ducky and he was absolutely amazing! I am autistic and suffer from sensory issues but he was very gentle, went quickly but efficiently and he did exactly what I wanted! I will definitely be coming again for all of my other tattoos!

The tattoo I received was objectively nice, but the artist freestyled a bit and over-shaded on details I wanted *very* specific and outlined. This would’ve been acceptable on a commissioned painting or something, but definitely not ideal for sentimental and permanent artwork on skin. I felt like he didn’t really glance much at the reference picture at all while tattooing to really capture the fine details nor check in with me during the process, and he instead created his own shading pattern that honestly doesn’t really match the photo at all. Nice guy of course, but the experience and the tattoo felt quite impersonal. I will probably go elsewhere to try and get the fine details carved back out with white ink or something. Again, the tattoo is objectively pretty, but it doesn’t match the photo, and the fine details I had hoped for are shaded in. Still a nice place with nice people.

As someone getting their first tattoo, I felt unbelievably comfortable in their shop. Josh was super cool at explaining everything to me and he’s just an overall great guy, the other artist brogan and his client were super cool and didn’t make me feel dumb for asking questions. Love the guys there, love the work Josh did, I have my artist and my shop now and when I get my next tattoo it’s gonna be with these guys. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new tattoo or someone looking to get their first and can’t praise them enough.

I got my first and only two tattoos here and I love them, they are perfect. I got one from Ducky and one from Steven and met Johnny and they were all welcoming, friendly and fun to talk to. For my first tattoos they made it really easy. The shop itself looks really cool, this is definitely gonna be my go to spot

It was such a great experience having work done here. The environment is welcoming and everyone working is happy to be there. Ducky did a great job helping me design and execute the tattoo I wanted in honor of my mom.

Steve and Ducky were very nice and accommodating to my wants. Ducky was cracking funny jokes while Steve did a beautiful cover up rose tattoo for me and when he noticed I was getting sore and squirmy he helped numb the area for me. I went and got my very first tattoo today and I can say I am very pleased and happy with the artwork that was done The artist whose name was Borgen did an excellent job I will be getting my whole arm done with anime And I will return to get all of it done by him thank you.

Steve was awesome when I first came in and met him told him what I wanted for a cover up tattoo and he is doing an awesome job.. have to go back for a second session in 2 weeks and everyone there was nice and friendly.. I will send anyone to Steve for a tattoo.. does amazing work and listens to u of what u want and brings it out like a BAM.. best tattoo artist in all 50 states and Arizona!! Steve is awesome

Ducky has been my tattoo guy for the last 11 years. I would drive across the entire U.S.A just so Ducky could tattoo me. Black Raven is clean, comfortable as can be, great people, and great atmosphere. Anybody in need of work done, come to this place. You will be satisfied.

Johnny touched up a tattoo I had that was done by a different artist and brought it back to life. He was very professional, took his time with the details and did an amazing job!! I highly recommend Johnny or any of the other artists at Black Raven. They’re very knowledgeable, professional, outgoing/friendly and the best artists around that I’ve seen.
