Abby is such a wonderful artist. She is super kind and does beautiful artwork. She has done 7 of my tattoos (two arent shown) and has become the only artist I go to. If you want great art at a reasonable price, you should definitely check her out!

Abby was beyond personable and sweet today. Held conversation during my whole time there and it was honestly the first time I’ve felt 100% comfortable and welcome in a tattoo shop. I did the “build” tattoo with options she already had made. Thanks Abby!

Great experience, first time getting cartilage piercings, had 2 done in one sitting, then went back a few months later for 2 more. Turtle is a really nice guy, everything is clean and sanitary, my piercings have done really well, minimal swelling and tenderness, great aftercare instruction. Turtle Thepiercer was great. Took my 12 Y/O daughter there to get her ears pierced and he took the extra time to explain everything he was doing and made sure she understood everything including all the aftercare. After a few friends recommendations we came to Perception for ear piercings. Turtle pierced my daughter and Is ears. My 9 year old was nervous but excited about getting her ears pierced. He explained everything he was going to do before doing it. Did a few dry runs with a qtip. Once he completed 1 ear he gave her time to calm down and waited for her to be ready for the next ear. While the time passed he talked with us as if he known us for years. Super friendly and professional guy. I dont think Ive ever felt that at home at a tattoo parlor before. My daughter is so happy with her decision to get her ears pierced. Thank you Turtle for being so awesome! Ive followed you for a while on FB and you deserve all the success you are getting! Will be returning for other work in the future.

We are in town from NY for a family thing and this is the second time my wife has come to Turtle for a piercing. This is THE ONLY place she wants to go, EVER. Basically, if she wants a new piercing, we are making trips to Indy 🤣 This time she wanted a piercing he had never done before (new nose piercing) and he took the time to learn, prepare, and master the process and procedure! She is happy and loves everything about her new piercing!

Abby was fantastic. She did my tattoo she worked me in when she was already busy. I came in with an idea and she made it come to life. Could not be more happy perfect tattoo. We had an EXCELLENT experience with all the staff we interacted with.I took my daughter in to get her ears pierced and I got my belly button re-pierced (top and bottom).Turtle was amazing and my super shy daughter felt so comfortable and chatty!I appreciated that Turtle really took the time to explain the whole process for her as this was her first piercing.Would definitely recommend!

I found Abby through her tiny tattoo Tuesdays, and don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the work she’s done. She’s tattooed me 6 different times now, with another session planned in February. My brother and best friend have gone to her as well and love her. Cant say enough good things about her, how clean the shop it, and how welcoming all of the staff is!

Turtle was awesome. He reminded me of the way Froggy (Big Time Tattoos and Piercings) was when I first met him. Turtle is funny, like Froggy. He is really helpful, knowledgeable, precise about how he does the piercings and the aftercare suggestions, like Froggy. He is straightforward in a respectful manner, like Froggy had been. Turtle is super chill and friendly. The location is a lot better to be honest. Compared to Big Time Tattoos and Piercings; Perception Body Modification Studio is a lot closer to my house than I initially thought. It’s a little hard to find but I still got there. Despite the fact, of course, I forgot my glasses. Luckily my dad drove. I just had to point it out. *ahem* Anyhoo… I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone who wants their ears pierced. I’m not sure about anything else because I don’t have the guts to get a tattoo… If I’m going to be completely honest. Turtle is really pleasant, friendly, funny a f, and super chill. Froggy and Turtle could be brothers or maybe cousins. 🤷🏻‍♀️ All I can say for certain is that they both were very similar as far as being very easy to talk to, hilarious, and have a very easygoing personality. They both made me feel at ease when I met them. We need more chill, kind, funny and respectful people like them. For sure.

Ive only gone to Perception for piercings (not tattoos). Turtle does a great job and I cant imagine myself going to anyone else for piercings. He took my idea for a double cheek piercing and did an excellent job. My piercings have healed super well, despite being in odd spots.Also everyone who works there is super nice! I enjoyed chatting with all the artists. I know Turtle already gets a ton of clients but I still recommend him to people all the time.

Turtle is the best piercer Ive ever worked with. He did my snake bites and my girlfriends septum and belly button. He explains the situation gets you talk and comfortable. It makes the piercing itself not hurt as much when youre relaxed!! Normal pricing for the piercer and dont forget to tip!!! Very knowledgeable, nice, clean, funny.

Walked in on a Thursday afternoon to get my earlobes pierced. There was no wait. Turtle was so kind and explained everything thoroughly, but he was also relaxed and funny which made me more comfortable. You can really tell he’s super knowledgeable. I got 18g holes done because I really wanted flat backs instead of standard ear studs because I’m a side sleeper and I can’t stand being poked. This raised the price a bit but Turtle made that clear up front and I was fine with it. I had scars from getting my ears pierced at Walmart as a kid and they were uneven, but Turtle took his time making sure my new ones were symmetrical. Everything was super clean and I felt so safe and welcomed there. I will definitely go back to Turtle for more piercings soon!

We went in to get my friend’s nipples and naval pierced and got the absolute pleasure of meeting Turtle!! We absolutely loved Turtle, he’s so amazing and walks you through every bit of the process and makes sure you understand everything from how itll happen to the after care and reassures you you can contact him if you have any questions or even just to get the jewelry changed out. Will absolutely be going back!

I cant believe I havent left a review yet after my 3rd visit to this shop. Its great! Its clean, cool and the artists are all fantastic! Ive only had things done by Abby but shes absolutely amazing, shes friendly and does a good job making it not awkward if I run out of things to talk about LOL! My best friend introduced me to the shop originally, but I dont see myself going to another shop anytime soon.

As a trans man this place makes me feel very safe to be myself they have people like me working as artists and they have people who accept and give allyship to people like me working as artists. I have been pierced many times now by Turtle and their gentle approach makes you feel safe in the studio and also helps a lot with any pain you may be afraid of. I have gotten my septum, one nostril, my vertical libret, my second lobes, and my bridge all done by them and they have all healed nicely when I’ve listened to Turtle’s instructions. Highly recommend for everyone but especially the LGBTQIA+ community!

I gotten a tattoo by cat, I was super nervous because it was going to be on my shin but that wasn’t the case at all. He made me feel super comfortable and had AMAZING conversation to keep my mind off the pain. The tattoo came out absolutely fantastic. If you want to get an awesome tattoo and have a good experience, you should definitely hit this place up. Also the other people there was also super welcoming and cool. I love Perception! Turtle has done all my piercings and is always so professional and friendly. He will walk you through every step from prep to the actual piercing to how to care for it. He is knowledgeable and the studio is very clean. I love how open the space is. It is open and not dungeon-like as some tattoo places feel.Cat has done a couple tattoos for me and he is also amazing. He drew up the designs for me and was very accommodating to the changes I requested. I felt comfortable voicing my requests but also trusted his judgement. My daughter found out about this place today. So me and her father brought her here to get her right side nose pierced. She got a hoop done by Turtle. He was very polite, respectful and talkative. I got a piercing done. I was pretty nervous. Turtle was EXCELLENT! Very professional. Joked around to lighten the mood. He walked me through every step of the process. During the piercing process, he asked me multiple times if I was okay and if I needed a break. Afterwards, he went into detail on how to care for the piercing and the best products to use.

I got my first tattoo done by Cat, and he could not have created a safer environment for me. I was super uncertain about my pain tolerance, and he was super flexible with changing plans to adapt to my comfort levels. We took as many breaks as I needed (even though it probably took about triple the time, he never pressured me to keep going unless I was ready), he was able to create clean lines even though the rest of my body kept moving on him, and I absolutely love the finished result. Im sure I was a hassle of a client, but he never made me feel like it. I live over two hours away from this shop, but I will be going back for my next tattoo. Cannot recommend him enough.

Turtle is the only piercer I will ever go to. I got my helix and my nose pierced by him 2 days ago. He is very professional and charismatic which keeps the mood light and relaxed, but still professional. Prior to the piercing, he explains the piercing process completely and answers any questions you may have so you fully understand every step of the process. He then makes sure you are feeling comfortable and at ease during the actual piercing, and fully explains proper aftercare.If you are at all nervous about getting a piercing, Turtle is the guy to go to. Not only will he help calm your nerves, hell make you laugh and give you an A+ piercing that Im sure youll love.

My experience here was 10/10! Cat was extremely welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. My body tends to twitch a lot when getting tattooed, but Cat completely understood and did an incredible job. He made sure it was placed exactly how I wanted and all 3 tattoos came out amazing! Took my 6 yr old daughter to get her ears pierced. Turtle was amazing! He took the time to explain every step, and what every tool was for. He answered all of the little questions that she had, and really engaged with her through the whole process. She didnt even cry during the piercing! He included her in the after care conversation and she has made sure to tell everyone she comes across Mr. Turtles rules about her ears! Shop was clean, and other staff were very friendly while we were waiting. A great experience all around!

Contacted the shop to make sure Turtle was going to be available and accepting walk ins for piercings on monday Feb 6th. He emailed me a day prior confirming he would be there. The NEXT day I drove 43 mins one way at the time we discussed and the shop was CLOSED. I couldnt have been more annoyed and ticked off. I drove another 43 mins home and WALKED to Carmel Tattoo INK and they fixed me right up. I dont know why I thought I had to drive to the south side to get quality piercings. Jokes on me I guess.

I wanna leave a good review bc i love the staff but i went to get a piercing and the communication on the wait time was insanely poor. ik it was busy but the artists didnt even talk to us after they shut off the open sign - I had to find one of them and they didnt even know what order the people in the room were supposed to be getting pierced in. like i said i know it was busy but a little communication wouldve been nice. first attempt at piercing me was crooked and we had to take it out - leaving me with a swollen nose and black eye. the piercings me and my partner did end up getting look great and are healing okay but the experience was soured for sure. and all this after waiting for 5 1/2 hours

Will not service you if you bring outside jewelry. even if its professionally cleaned. They will force you to purchase their jewelry. I personally just wanted my ears pierced, I dont have hundreds of dollars to buy jewelry too.

Came in to see Turtle for a nostril and ear piercings. The shop was very clean and welcoming. Turtles attention to detail and way of making you comfortable throughout the process was excellent. Took plenty of time to ensure I was fully informed through the process and made sure to answer any questions. Definitely worth the drive from the north side of Indy. I cannot recommend the piercer, Turtle, enough. I saw he had excellent reviews at another tattoo shop, but when I called they said he was no longer there. I tried going to a place that did walk-ins, but the first time the wait was over an hour and I couldnt stay, and the second time they were out of earrings. So I called Perception and who should answer the phone but Turtle!It was clear from just talking to him on the phone that he knew what he was talking about. We discussed my history of infections and possible nickel allergy and the fact that all the jewelry he uses is titanium, even the backs and the jewel casing.Piercings are by appointment only, but its absolutely worth it to schedule and wait rather than do a walk in place, as I well learned when I tried the other place. Turtle took his time, made sure I was comfortable with the process. He explained each step thoroughly and made sure I was happy with the placement of the piercings. More than that, he made the whole process--from filling out paperwork at the start to cashing out at the end--fun. He was very enthusiastic and personable, and it was clear he was passionate about what he does. We talked about art and tattoos, studio Ghibli films and how horrendous the piercing guns at the mall stands are, and by the time it came to the actual piercing I was completely at ease.He was very informative on the after care process, and with his instructions I feel pretty confident I wont have the problems I had with piercings in the past. If I decide to do more piercings I will definitely be back!

Be prepared to wait if you go in on Saturday for piercings, but Turtle was great: friendly, professional, and informative!

I got my first 2 tattoos from Abby. She did an amazing job and I am extremely happy with the way they turned out. I even had to send her a selfie with the way my face was stuck in a goofy smile after they healed enough for me to take the bandaids off. Will defiantly be going back for more!!

I got my industrial pierced today by turtle. He did a great job of explaining what he was doing before he did it; did a great job explaining aftercare to me.

Abby is my first and probably will be my only tattoo artist. She’s done two of mine so far and is great to be around, professional, and offers great rates. Definitely will be going back for more.

Turtle pierced both of my daiths and my nose. He was very gentle, spent a lot of time with me and gave me great instructions for after care.

I wouldnt trust anyone but Turtle. He did my first dermal that had no issues. I went back for this one and this is how clean it looked 1 week out, even after working out, sweat, swimming, etc.. Hes extremely professional and super sweet which is why I found him for this again!!! Yep, I followed where he went! Im excited for my 2nd dermal!!!!! Hes so understanding and goes at your pace with whatever you want to do..NEVER pushing you into anything. You want an honest answer, hell give you an honest answer..no bs entailed!! 5xs to Turtle and this snagging uniquely designed studio! (Yes I had to take pics for examples for a modern, simple, sleek industrial style for my house bc the conceptions of the decor are clean, cut, beautiful, and modern!)

The rudest group of individuals ever. Whoever answers the phones is AWFUL. I am concerned how they have so many positive reviews? Cannot possibly be accurate. I had a couple of questions about what I wanted done and the same person that answered the phone. I have to assume their only job because they interrupted me multiple times saying “I don’t know anything about that I can’t help you” I would never feel comfortable having any work done here. They were unlike any other place I’ve ever been and we will not be returning. Unbelievably rude.

Turtle repeirced my navel after a bad peircing I got years back rejected. It was a super easy process and after a week I can hardly feel it unless I bump it.
