So I had gotten a tattoo at black tide a few months ago. Alonzo was my tat artist. Honestly everyone working in that shop was super friendly and really cool. Alonzo was awesome. I had gotten a cover up and let me tell you, you would never know that there was a dark, ugly jail style tattoo under the work he did. He gave me exactly what I wanted. Hes got a light hand. His work came out beautiful. Its definitely a tattoo that Im really proud to show. Im going to see him again for my birthday to get another tattoo from him. Also the shoppe was very neat and tidy, and clean, same for the rest room ( that stuff us important and telling) . I would recommend black tide to anyone looking for a great tat, in a relaxed, friendly, professional, clean environment.

I got my catfish bites done here by Shelby and she did an amazing job. It was a wonderful experience and I am so happy I chose to get them done by her. She is very helpful with any questions you may have and has a thorough aftercare paper she gives you afterwards so you dont forget. Shelby also gives a card with the details on your piercing size if you ever need to know those numbers in the future. I cant wait to get more piercings done here!

Alonzo was fantastic and did beautiful work. He really listened to what i wanted. He (and the other tatooists) were fun to talk to and really settled this first-timers nerves. I think i might be addicted now and I will definitely be returning!

Brought my 7 year old to have her ears pierced. Shelby was awesome, explaining every step along the way and put my kid at ease. I loved how Shelby talked directly to my kid rather than over her head to me, and hyped her up so she wouldnt be scared. Everyone in the shop was kind and helpful to an excited/nervous little kid. If we ever need piercing again, for kid or adult, well definitely be back!

Ive been coming here for years. 8 tattoos of mine have been from here. I love them all. Now the hubby and my oldest son and daughter have all gotten tattoos from here. The kids had their first tattoo experience here from Alonza and Tristan. They both do phenomenal work. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Shelby pierced my belly button yesterday, and completely missed her own markings!! I went to arcade who told me she pierced double as deep as she was supposed to, which could’ve seriously hurt me, now I’m bruised and have to wait 3 months to get repierced and hopefully don’t scar!! Then I went for refund, which they argued and didn’t give, worst place to ever get your first piercing, a terrible experience!!

I approached Black Tide at the beginning of the year about reworking an existing tattoo. Working with Erik was a night and day experience from when I initially got the tattoo. He was extremely laid back and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. The day of the tattoo he was on time, professional, and thorough. He was upfront about the (very reasonable) cost and there were no hidden fees or surprises at the end. After my disappointing experience with another studio in town (that is highly praised and well known), I was extremely nervous about the appointment but I left with a tattoo I’m really happy with. I went from hiding my arm for 5 months to getting tons of compliments on it. If I decide to get another tattoo I would contact him first.

Alonzo is a phenomenal artist and they are by far the most fairly priced parlor I have ever been to and Ive been tatted in 4 states by about 10 artists. He is fast too. Great experience, will definitely be back.

I stopped in to ask some questions about getting a tattoo covered and ended up getting my nose pierced. Everyone was extremely nice and answered all of my questions. Shelby did my piercing and she was awesome. Will definitely be back.

By far the best studio in north Alabama! Craig is the best tattoo artist ever. He did a full American traditional sleeve for me in an insane time frame. Everyone in the shop is kind and funny. The environment is awesome. I will never go anywhere else for my tattoos or piercings again!

Tristan was awesome. He made my first tattoo experience go as smoothly as possible. They have an amazing selection of original artwork and can do custom pieces, too.

I’ve been to 8+ different shops and Blacktide is by far the best tattoo shop I’ve been to. If you’re looking for a quick walk in tattoo Alonzo is the guy for you he can draw up just about any style you can think of. If you’re looking for a larger piece that requires an appointment I highly recommend Tristan his art is amazing. Prices compared to other tattoo shops is WAY better also.

We took our 4 year old daughter here to get her ears pierced. What an excellent experience! We are so delighted. They were very professional and patient with her. They talked to her about the process and made her feel very comfortable an at ease. She is a determined girl and she decided it was time and she decided she was going to be brave. They were very clear with me that they will not force her. They didn’t have to. We are so glad on how well they did. They measured her several times to make sure everything was even. We are very happy. Great work!

Shelby is a fantastic piercer and helped change my piercings for me that I got at another shop so they wouldn’t get infected! She also helped with after care instructions & made sure to check up with me after to make sure they were healing properly! Wouldn’t go to ANYONE else for a piercing.

I am a huge fan of Blacktide Tatto. I have gotten a 3x3 color tattoo- excellent experience. Today, I got my ears pierced. The price they quoted me was exactly what it cost (I did tip, recommended.) Tristan was my piercer. He is professional, efficient and explained every part of the process including after care. Getting your ears pierced is easy and there is very little pain. You can handle it. The shop is clean and neat, opened on time and fun!

Got my septum pierced here, the piercing artist was very friendly and put me at ease. The atmosphere was positive and fun, everything was very clean and neat. The piercing process was simple and effective, I got the impression he really knew what he was doing and I had no doubts about the quality of his work. Very happy with how it turned out!

I was a walk-in to get my lip pierced. Did not have to wait long at all. The facility was clean and the artist were all very professional. They were quick and thorough. Went over aftercare with me and I am very satisfied with the results. I was nervous at first but Tristen calmed me down. Definitely referring everyone I know to them!

Dont remember who the peircers name was, but he was extremely nice, calm and clean. I went to get my side lip peirced and everything went well. He accidentally grabbed the wrong gauge ring when he peirced my lip, so I had a needle hanging out my lip for a minute, but I thought it was funny and a new experience. He then apologized many times and told me he had to repeirce it and said comedically, Sorry about putting more holes in your face, which then he got it done right, looked good and gave it to me on the house since he made a mistake. Stuff happens and were not all perfect. Being a peirced veteran, I didnt have anything against him. Cant wait to go back to get my snake bites, (since I took out the last one he did)

Old school, honest, and professional. Craig Boogie Smith did my chest piece. The consultation took about 5 mins. I told him I wanted an American traditional style eagle. Boogie told me to send him some pictures and we set up an appointment. I let him be the artist and tried not to get in his way. When I arrived, for my appointment, Boogie had custom drawn not just an eagle...but an eagle with bloody talons flying out of a lightning storm while holding a sickle...I didnt know I wanted that, but Boogie knew I needed that. The price was more than fair for the quality and respect to the craft. Not to get too sentimental, but I appreciated that our negotiations were handled with a gentlemens handshake. If youre a fan of American traditional, I would highly suggest getting an appointment with Boogie Smith, before getting a Boogie Smith tattoo becomes an extremely difficult appointment to get.

First off, Eric is awesome. Always nice every time. My GF loved this tattoo shop, and it was the one she always recommended to her friends and family. However on her last visit, Craig was extremely rude to her sister and her to the point where she just left the shop. She no longer goes here anymore because she felt like they dont care about the customers anymore.

I have 17 tattoos, but for whatever reason I’ve always been too scared to get my nose pierced. Tristan did a septum piercing yesterday and had to deal with me being a bit of a baby about it, but he was so kind and friendly! I’m so happy he was patient with me and didn’t give me a hard time. I’ve had some bad experiences at other local shops before. Definitely recommending this place to friends looking for friendly service and a clean establishment!

Tried to get a piercing done today & walked into an empty shop and was told no one had time to do it today, said i was better off going to another shop. Like the guy told me, youre probably better off going somewhere else for your services. Edit - in response to store reply... you asked 3 different people if theyd like to do the work & they all said no. Instead of asking come back or set up an appointment you basically told me you didnt want my money.

This is a great shop! Got my full sleeve done here and Erik was professional and knew his trade. I gave him some ideas and he brought them to life in an amazing way. I came in to get my 2nd nose and ear pierced, my 11 year old daughter got both her 2nd ear piercing, my sister and mother in law all got two more piercings and it went great! Tristan was chill, professional, sanitary and made everyone feel at ease. The location has a great feel to it and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend and will come back for more.

My friend and I went into Blacktide as walk-ins recently. Luckily for us, it was a game day, so Craig was able to get to us in immediately. We both just wanted a simple, script tattoo. And he helped us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. His work was beautiful! He was very quick and efficient. I would definitely go back for future ink.

Friendly. Came in with no appointment and they happily took care of me right then and there. They were thorough and made sure that I knew what they were doing at every step. I have a lot of piercings and tattoos and they could see that, it didnt change the level of professionalism and attention to details. Having a vertical labret you have to make sure its centered and in the places you want on your lip. They worked to make sure that it was even and accommodated my preference for setting. Would recommend for future work. Got to see some of the drawings they were working on at their work table and it looks like they do some amazing and detailed tattoo work if the sketches are any indication.

Eric was awesome!!!! It was my first time there. My daughter and her husband have been using Eric for awhile now and she took me there to get our family motto inked on my arm. I was immediately impressed with him and the shop, and it was the first time Ive been tattooed without hearing any foul language. Will def be going back there!

My daughter came here today to get a septum piercing . Judging by their reviews she thought this would be the perfect place to go but boy was she wrong. Tristen almost destroyed her nose! He was careless and hurt her really bad. She’s bleeding and in terrible pain. I hope she doesn’t get an infection. I guess they provide good service to some and horrible service to others. I just wish I could have been with her because I would have known right away Black Tide was not the place for her.

Me and my wife have been here twice now for piercings and have had an amazing expierance. Tristan is very good with customers and the wait is never terrible. Will go here for as long as they are open and he works there for piercings.

I got an ear piercing for help with my severe migraines. Erik was very professional and kind. He put me at ease and talked to me as he did each step. I highly recommend Erik and Blacktide Tattoo!! Just a note...I have been migraine free for a week! I usually get one at least every 3 day.

When I first walked in I felt so welcome they were nice and the person piercing me helped me pick out the jewelry that best fit me. The place looked nice and really clean. I will continue to go to them for any of my future piercings!

I walked in to get a daith piercing without an appointment and they took me right in. The guy was super nice. He talked me through everything he was doing and it went great! It barely hurt and I already love it!

Had a great experience at Black Tide getting my nipples pierced. Definitely recommend this shop for getting your piercings done, but the unfortunately dont do genital piercings if that was a question.

Best shop Ive ever been to. The staff is talented, easy to work with, and the facility is clean. They can be booked out for a while, but thats a trade off for artistry. I wont go anywhere else.

Blacktide tattoo co. Has done most of my body art to date. Im thrilled with everything Ive had done. Every time I would go in with a vague vision of what I wanted, and leave with a beautiful work of art better than I could imagine. My sunflowers and luna moth tattoo was an incorporation piece of an old tattoo. And the boa constrictor is an amazing cover up. I recommend blacktide to everyone.

Went there hoping and thinking I would get a great tattoo because of it being in a tattoo shop, but the guy who tattood me did a very bab job.. sloppy line work, Blowout and poor shading. I personally wouldnt recommend this shop & after showing artist the mistake he make no effort to fix it.

My 1st encounter was frustrating! We called in advance, arrived and no one was at the shop. On my next visit I was pleasantly surprised! The Gentleman I spoke with was informative and kind!
