I had a great experience from start to finish! When Devin sent out a new project request, I sent her an email with my idea and a copy of my drawing I wanted. She contacted me back within 24 hours to set up a consultation appointment. I went tonight and I am so glad I did! Devin is extremely knowledgeable in tattooing and she really listens to her clients needs. She throughly went through the design with me before, during and after placement. During the tattoo process, she was very engaging and made the whole process fun. Definitely will return to her for future projects!

Well worth the wait. 4 Sessions on a monster calf piece. Colby is an awesome artist and just a cool dude as well. Very clean shop, and just awesome artists. Yes theres a wait period and youll need to plan accordingly - but if you just follow the step on their website and getting the newsletters youll find a slot eventually. And their talent is worth it.

Owner helped me catch a fraudulent tattoo artist posing as an artist that works at his shop. He also was helpful in recommending a list of legitimate tattoo artists around town, upon my request. Although I didnt get any work done at this shop, the owners willingness to help me restored my hope in humanity. Thanks Nick!

The studio is immaculate and clean, everyone is super professional and our artist, Matt, is a magician! His attention to detail and ability to capture exactly what I want puts him at the top of my list for people allowed to tattoo my body.

I want to recommend them, but I have some level of reservations in doing so. My experience was fraught with consistent collaboration that sometimes lead to my own ideas simply being dismissed. There was one particular session where I spent the better part of an hour, talking the Tattoo Artist back into my original design or what I was seeking. I was under the impression they were a custom tattoo parlor. Sadly this does not seem to be the case. I will not go into great detail, but I will suggest, that with the name or job title of Tattoo Artist I somewhat expected an Artist Mindset or Perspective. So, if you are seeking an experience, that is a simple templated tattoo design or pattern, with an overly basic color scheme, one where you yourself have little to no input in the end result, then BlackHive Tattoo is your parlor.___20231002 - Addendum.Thank you for responding. Im not going to go into detail, but I must admit the first tattoo was not exactly what I wanted either. So you will have forgive me, but the overall result and experience was negative. Now I am left with a second tattoo, that I must now figure out how to salvage. This is why I left the feedback I had.

Devin does incredible work! Hard pressed to find a better shop with a better stable of talent in the Jax area.

Absolutely love this place. Took a while to get into Selenas seat, but I wouldnt want anyone else. She is a master at floral art, and her passion translates into utterly amazing tattoos. Ive been getting a full sleeve worked on all year and I have gotten so many comments on it, typically daily when Im out and about. The line work, the colors, the shading... all incredible. Highly recommended.

This place is the best. I have gotten 3 tattoos here and it is the only place Ill ever go. They take cleanliness and safety very seriously and the artists are incredible. All my work has been done by Selina who is so ridiculously good at her job and goes out of her way to ensure I have a great experience every time. Its hard to get an appointment with any of them, but for good reason. Highly recommended if you want a beautiful custom piece of art on your body.

Everything about my experience here has been second to none. Very professional yet relaxed atmosphere. I got work done by Nick and have had so many compliments on my 1/2 sleeve. Being that I had several sessions to go to Ive had a chance to meet all the other artists and look at work they were doing while I was there. I wouldnt hesitate at all to recommend any of them to my friends or family and I can see why they were voted top shop in Jax. I cant wait to go back later this year.

Best shop in Jacksonville. All the artists are incredibly dedicated to their craft as well as their clients. The shop is very private, clean, and the staff makes sure your experience is comfortable for you. If you’re going to get tattooed for hours at a time, you should go somewhere it’ll suck the least to get stabbed. I went to Black Hive in late May. Didnt expect to get in. Got in for luckily. Loved the place and the vibe. Liked how it wasnt like other tattoo places where they didnt care about you and what you wanted. Colbey Joyce was my artist and was super awesome and supportive for my first tattoo. Showed him what I wanted and got what I wanted and more. Truly amazing experience and loved him and the shop for being able to provide that.

Just got some work done by Chance at Black Hive. Excellent experience!He worked with me on the design and made it better than what I had originally brought in. He was mellow and professional during the entire sitting.The shop was very clean and comfortable. I cant speak first hand about the other artists but I would have no hesitation to get more work done by any of them. My impression is that these artists truly care about the work they turn out, not simply how many clients they can get in and out.The only thing I would mention is parking, get there a little early because it might take you several minutes to find a suitable place to park.All in all I highly recommend them!

Ive known the owner Nick for years. You cannot get a better tattooing experience than Blackhive. Top notch shop with top notch artists!

My artist was Colbey, and he did an amazing job. Its nice to have an artist as excited about the tattoo as you are. I gave him my base idea and a few things I wanted to add. He took it and improved on the idea. Highly recommend Black Hive to anyone looking for a tattoo.

I couldn’t say enough good things about Black Hive. I got tattooed by Alex Gama and he did an awesome job! The whole shop is super clean and everyone was very professional. Met a few of the other artists while I was there and everyone seems awesome. I will for sure be back for more work.

I was on the waiting list for several months and it was well worth the wait. I had some ideas of what I wanted but didnt didnt think there was any way these random ideas could be tied together into a sleeve. Colby Joyce is my artist and somehow turned my concept into an amazing black and grey sleeve. IThe entire group is professional. The shop is clean and Colby is outstanding at artistry line work and shading. I receive compliments all the time. Absolutely the BEST shop. You cant go wrong with anyone here.

Received a new tattoo from Selina about 4 weeks ago, and I just cant begin to express my sincere appreciation for her dedication, talent and ability to go above & beyond my expectations! We started with a very rough idea and she elevated it to a point I wouldnt have thought of myself. The shop itself is very clean, very professional and the staff are all welcoming from the start. They all have long waits and its well worth it. Best tattoo shop in Jacksonville! Nick, Selina, Sole and Co. do AMAZING WORK! If you want a really excellent tattoo, or need an old one covered up they are the shop to talk to. It may take a bit to get an appointment, but it will totally be worth the wait.

Treating tattoos as art, and a shop as a place of medical cleanliness. The artists here are engaging and kind, with an eye towards what looks good in a year, in 10 year, and even longer. I have two large thigh pieces, and one is about ten years old and people still stop me to exclaim over the design and color. Easily one of the best shops in the Southeast.

Chance has done two amazing tattoos, and a recolor of a tattoo done by another artist 10 years ago. Over a month out and the recolor looks better than when the tattoo was fresh, and the two that he did for me are flawless. I am going back for my third piece by Chance next week. And I have a large side piece in mind in the future. I have lived all over the country and this is by far the cleanest most professional shop I have ever been to. When I move back to the west coast I will fly out specifically to have Chance do any future work. I cant say enough about this shop!

Honestly the best tattoo parlor ive been to over the past 5 years. The staff were extremely professional, clean, and provided a fun environment through the whole process. It can take some time between contact and actual appointment, but only because they are true professionals/artists and take it seriously.Sole commissioned my piece after I gave her a variety of photographs and sat down with her to go over what I was looking for. Long story short, she knocked it out of the park. I couldnt have asked for a better design. The tattooing process itself was the same, Sole was fun during its entirety and the final product turned out beautiful. The line-work and shading are the best of any piece Ive gotten.Black Hive Tattoo and Sole will see my business in the future for as long as they are in town. Big thanks to them for something ill have for a lifetime!

Start with the pros...Great shop. Super clean. Ample parking. All the artists are courteous and pleasant. The air you get at other tattoo shops (i.e. like theyre doing you a huge favor by giving you a tattoo) does NOT exist here. Theyre all extraordinarily pleasant. I did a substantial amount of research in Jacksonville to find someone to do a tattoo for me and, while each of the artists here have a different style they all do fantastic work. I decided to go with Colbey Joyce.Which leads me to my next pro... They actually work with you to get what you want vs. trying to force feed their own ideas down your throat. Colbey was great at pointing out what would work and was happy to make changes without making a big deal about it.Cons.... None. Seriously. None. Each artist has different pricing... so, Im not going to speak to all of them in this regard as Im not sure what the others are. I can say though, Colbey charges are VERY reasonable for the quality you get.Finally, I was so happy with the first tattoo he did I went back to see if he could do a coverup of a previously poorly done tattoo (by another local and popular Jacksonville tattoo shop). He had a few ideas, I picked one - he drew it up and, bingo. Done. Awesome work.Cant say enough good things about this place, their work and, specifically Colbey.

Everything was fine about the place except the owner is a DING-A-LING! Not only does he continuously interrupt while youre on the clock paying for your tattoo but he also never knocks when entering the room with you and your artist! Dont get me wrong my artist is cool but that owner or manager or whatever he is #SUCKS

I cannot say enough amazing things about Soledad Del Real. I found Soledad through searching online when looking for the best fit for my floral sleeve tattoo. I got on Soledads waiting list and described my idea to her. With very minimal information she was able to come up with the most perfect design EVER. It was exactly what I was wanting and more. She is a true artist. Not only that but she made me feel so comfortable during the whole process and was very knowledgeable and fun. Whenever I am ready for my next one I will definitely be coming back to Florida for Soledad! Also the Black Hive Tattoo was impeccably clean and everyone that I met on the staff was super friendly and nice. I would recommend this place to everyone without any reservations. You will not be disappointed.

The wait isn’t worth it, I’ve been on their newsletter for over a year at this point waiting for the artist I was interested in to “open their books” theres no tattoo in the world good enough to excuse the atrocious wait time and how they handle booking clients, find another shop/artist that doesn’t make you wait an undisclosed amount of time just to schedule your tattoo, I guarantee it will be just as good as whatever this shop can offer
