From the customer service to the Artist, was great, Stephen Taylor is doing a sleeve for me and his work is top notch, you definitely get what you pay for, and the shop is very clean, I highly recommend self made tattoo for all your work and they have became my go to for all my tattoo needs.

I could not be more satisfied with the work I have received from Steven at Self-Made Tattoo. The attention to detail and his comment to use the best ink and tools is unsurpassed. I am continuing my journey of a full sleeve with chest and back pieces and will update this post with completed work. I did not mention this is a cover up piece.

This place has to be one of the cleanest and customer friendly places I have ever had ink done at. The price you pay is for the piece of mind and great work.

My wife and I have both received multiple tattoos from here. All of the artist are great to work with and they create a good atmosphere. Stephen is my artist who I enjoy working with and who I highly recommend to others. My wife has worked with Juan and Sterling who were also great to work with and gave great tattoos. Highly recommend to anyone on the market for skin art.

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop and every artist that works here. I have been tattooed by Stephen, Bethany, and Dot. They have all been not only extremely friendly and professional but excellent tattoo artists as well. Dot has done 4 pieces on my leg that are amazing, she really helps take your vision and bring it to life. I highly recommend Dot as she will work with you to ensure you get just what your looking for Stephen has done about 6 tattoos for me on my arm and tattooed both my feet. He is very well rounded artist that has done some really amazing work for me. Last, but not least, Bethany has done my chest and some torso work. She is an amazing artist with a super friendly personality. All in all this shop is super clean with an amazing staff. Highly recommend!

Self made is amazing! I have gotten multiple tattoos here from Sterling and Dot both. They are phenomenal. I couldnt be happier with my overall experience here. I always feel very comfortable and discuss things with my artist, and I have never been happier with the art on my body.I just got my 3rd tattoo from Dot on 3/1 and I couldnt be happier! Dot is amazing and so friendly. She listens to her clients and her artwork is fantastic.I drive over an hour to get my tattoos done here and I will continue to.

5 stars!!!! My experience was absolutely amazing! To start off, this shop is so clean and well organized!! All of the artists in this shop are very professional and do amazing work! My artist, Dot, did phenomenal on my first ever tattoo and I could not be more happy! She took her time to make sure every line was perfect and made sure all shading was correct! I cannot recommend Self-Made highly enough. Amazing atmosphere and fantastic artist. I was lucky enough to get my tattoo done by Juan but just looking at the artwork of the others and how they dealt with the other people I would feel comfortable with anyone there. I went in with a super basic idea of what I wanted and he took it and added a small touch to make it more unique after making sure I was ok with it. I absolutely love the end result and will definitely be coming back for more.

I got my first tattoo here and everything about my visit here was amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, very professional. The whole shop was clean,, very on point with sterilization, especially with the COVID procedures. My tattoo artist Dot was so sweet, patient, and informative about my tattoos aftercare. Made my first time experience amazing.. Definitely will be coming back in the future!

Ive been a client of Bethany for years and I am so excited for her to have her own place now. I was just there last night for my umpteenth tattoo and I love it as usual!! My husband also goes to Bethany and had his second done last night too and it is amazing. The shop looks awesome and the staff is great. Well be back soon...

I never leave reviews but I’m so disappointed in my tattoo I want other people to be aware of who you chose to get a tattoo from here.Currently waiting to hear back about who is fixing my tattoo. I’m really disappointed in my tattoo. I got one from the Valentine flash sheet and my artist was Dot. She was super friendly and worked with me on the placement. After getting it done I thought it looked good went home and started to notice how much was wrong. This is my first time having a tattoo that looks so much different from what I wanted. The detail in the hair, face, fingers, neck, and shell is incorrect or missing. Also added a dotted line on the body when it should be a line. It was my first time going to the shop and I had high hopes, now I’m stuck with something that needs to be fixed. However, the shop was super clean and looks nice.If you decide to get a tattoo here I would recommend getting it from someone who has lots of experience as you’ll end up with a tattoo like mine if you don’t.

Every artist at SMTC is a rock star. They’re all exceptionally talented. The whole staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best experience and atmosphere possible while getting tattooed. The shop is always immaculate and everyone is so friendly. I’ve never seen so many amazing people in one place and I cannot recommend them enough!

Aestheticly a really neat place, had Juan as my artist after checking out his Instagram and he was great! Clean lines, great color, was happy with small conversation or comfortable silence. Would recommend for anyone thinking about getting some art done

I have been getting tattooed at Self Made Tattoo for quite some time and I have never had a negative experience. Ive been tattooed by almost every artist in the shop and they never fail to impress.The shop is clean and incredibly organized. And the staff is incredibly cooperative and professional. A refreshing change of pace in this rough-cut military town.

I have always wanted a tattoo my whole life....However, the thought of a needle or having someone work on my body for a long period of time just gives me anxiety!However!DOT.... The tattoo artist made me feel so comfortable and was soooo sweet. Not only did she calm my nerves but the overall tattoo was done well. Like beautifully. I loved my tattoo and will absolutely be back!

I have had two tattoos done (so far) with many more ahead of me, from two different artists at this location. Both artists were exceptional with their artistry , professionalism and their friendliness. They were clean, detailed and provided amazing artwork I can now carry with me forever. Thanks gang! This is the only place I go for tattoos. They have some awesome creepy decor and very comfy gothic looking chairs and couches to relax while waiting. All of their artists are great, But I exclusively see Dot (insta sweet_pixels). I went and got lettering when she was only an apprentice, and Ive now got my knuckles and this forearm piece from her as well! Shes very personable and nerdy and is fun to tall to, and is not heavy handed. And if you let her go her own way with design, she does some really bright and colorful neo-traditional type work that is rad and looks like if lisa frank had a cool alt sister! Definitely check out the shop and especially Dot!

Sterling and I grew up together - hes a great person and an awesome tattoo artist. He gave me my first tattoo today, which I have wanted for a while. It means a lot to me, and Sterling knows why...I am so happy with it. Hes very patient, honest, and thorough. Hes the best.

Stephen Taylor did my whole leg sleeve and was absolutely amazing! He’s easy to talk about what you want and will be honest with you from the beginning. Everyone there is wonderful and I would HIGHLY recommend any of their artist!

Made an appointment almost six months in advance, didn’t get a single piece of art after a 100$ deposit. Artist was tough to get anything out of and had a “not my fault” attitude. Communication was spotty, only ever spoke during consult, rest of the time was over IG. Just didn’t feel like they cared enough once they got the deposit. They never initiated contact. Sorry but I’m not sitting in your chair if you’re just gonna wing it on a cover up. Ended up just giving up on the tattoo and deposit out of frustration.

Sterling is the best tattoo artist I have ever seen in my life! He is the only person I would let do my tattoos!!! His workis totally AWESOME!!!

Bethany and other resident artists are amazing. I have followed Bethany from a previous shop. Shes done most of my tattoos. I highly recommend her and Self Made Tattoo Company.

By far the best experience I’ve had at a shop. I made the drive up from Wilmington after seeing Bethany’s work on Facebook and it was well worth it. Words can’t describe how happy I am with the work she did, and I refuse to go anywhere else now.

Great customer service and they took care of me very very well. And I had that a tattoo of Janet Jackson. I left the tattoo parlor feeling so happy about the tattoo. To be honestly this was my first tattoo ever it really did hurt like hell but it was definitely worth the pain. Now I have a tattoo of my idol on my arm.
