Lady Luck Tattoo & Body Piercing

I went to lady luck as a walk in Joel got me and my wife in same day. I told him what I wanted and he sketched it out, and had me out in a little over 3 hours. I was totally impressed with how this tattoo turned out. My wife was done by Gavin and she was happy with hers. The atmosphere was great everyone was very friendly and made us comfortable.

I went to Lady Luck on Friday June 14th, 2024 and had a wonderful experience with Kat as my tattoo artist!! I got about a full hand sized tattoo with full color on the back of my right calf. Took about 4-5 hours and cost $470 and was totally worth everything! Would 100% go back again for many more if I lived closer! I love my new piece it fits my vision in my mind and brings me joy!!!She is also easy to work with when it comes to planning ahead. I called her a month in advance to discuss details for when I would be in state and it was so smooth!!! She redid the stencil when I came in to make sure it was perfect and genuinely cares about what I wanted/needed with colors!Edit to add: it was a very clean and welcoming salon, everyone we chatted with was nice and excited for me and my friend who went together. I had ample breaks if needed and they provided water and soda for refreshment. Very considerate!!!

My husband and I just got tats this morning. They were excellent. Both artists were fabulous. The shop is clean and bright. The prices were very reasonable as well.Went back today for a piercing and to replace my nose ring I lost last evening. Again, wonderful, helpful and pleasant service.

Big shoutout to Dylan for making my wife and I’s tattoo experience awesome. We walked in a couple hours before closing time the day before we flew home unsure if we’d have enough time to get it done and he made it happen for the both of us. He was really cool and helped me stay calm for my first tattoo.The shop itself is clean and just nice to be in and everyone we met was nice. And we LOVE our tattoos!

Went in for a last minute tattoo before leaving the island. I was nothing but impressed with their amazing customer service and cleanliness! Gavinn Compton got me in the chair in an hour it only took an hour cause he was drawing out the design I wanted. Gavin is the most friendly and kind tattoo artist I have ever come across he explained every detail to make sure we were always on the same page when it came to my tattoo. He did amazing work and his passion for tattooing and detail shows! If you’re ever wanting a tattoo before leaving Kona Hawai’i Gavinn Compton is the way to go!!!

I have got two tattoos from Lady Luck. I have always been happy with the service at Lady Luck. Anthony did the catfish in the three piece suit and Kat did shrimp-people. Both artist, even with my strange requests, did a fantastic job and I could not be happier. From the time my colleagues and i entered the shop we were greeted warmly by Gavin and given 100 percent courtesy and attention. Our consultation went very well as we were looking for specific tattoos to commemorate our new venture. Dez worked on my friend and did a good job. Ryan actually did mine and being a person of color it was difficult on deciding which Approach to use. He was PROFESSIONAL as ever making sure i knew the options versus his artistic opinion. HE NAILED IT!!!I HIGHLY recommend this tattoo shop, the vibe was perfect and it came recommended to us by Matt a pilot over at blue Hawaii helicopter tours!

I had called around to all sorts of places trying to get a last minute tattoo for my daughter and I. Whoever answered the phone at Lady Luck was the kindest person I spoke to so that’s who we went with. I have several tattoos and I tend to get weird vibes at a lot of shops so I was nervous walking in, but the staff was awesome from the beginning. Kat greeted us immediately up front and got us started. We had ideas of what we wanted but they gave us plenty of time to decide, no rush. I didn’t love one of the letters in the font I wanted so Des and Joel took the time to create a new letter that matched the font but was more my style.Des was my artist and I love my tattoo. It’s exactly as I’ve always imagined it to be and I’ve received tons of compliments. Also, I’m a huge baby when it comes to pain and surprisingly this tattoo was my least painful. It healed quickly and easily. I can’t thank Des enough for this beautiful tattoo that I’ve wanted for so long to match with my late mother. It’s very special to me and the excellent experience at this shop made it that much more meaningful.They were fairly busy on this day so Joel brought me up to do the stencil while Des took care of some other clients. He placed the first stencil but he wasn’t happy with it so he redid it. I really appreciated this given that the tattoo is on the back of my neck and I can’t really see it. It really felt like he cared about taking his time so it would be perfect for me. His attitude in general was super upbeat and really made me feel at ease. It’s almost like he was an old friend. Not like other shops I’ve been to.All in all, we had a great experience here due to the kindness of the staff. Customer service is so important in my opinion and these folks really made me feel like they cared about our experience and wanted to give us great tattoos. The shop was bright and clean, I have zero complaints. If you’re on the fence about where to go, this is the shop to pick! I’ll be back in August for another tattoo!

I am honest when I say if I could have given 10 stars I would have!!This place is very clean and the staff SO nice!Gavin designed my tattoo and his dad and owner Roy did my tattoo and he is so amazing!He made me so comfortable the whole process and talked to me and answered my questions. This place is great for color tattoos! My daughter had a vision, shared a few photos and the artist, Katarina… and she killed it!! WE WERE A WALK-IN! Flying out that afternoon she made sure to sketch, confirm and make a stencil, then tatt and color with shading all in one sitting. It took about 5 hours from concept to completion- so plan accordingly if you’re looking for something this size. Maybe bring snacks. :) This place is clean, well lit, upbeat, all the artists are friendly and helpful, we highly recommend!!

This shop is awesome, 10/10 stars! 4 of us came in as walk-ins and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. I got my tattoo done by La’e and she was so sweet and very thorough in her work. They are extremely clean and put a lot of effort into making us feel comfortable and satisfied with our tattoos. Cannot recommend enough!

This was such a great experience! My wife and I always played around with the idea with getting matching tattoos but during this trip to Kona, we started to realistically plan things out. We saw all the reviews on this place and decided to pull the trigger on our last day out here. As this would be my first tattoo, I was definitely nervous walking into the shop. I had a general idea, and some photos of what I thought I would like, but Dylan stepped in and created absolute art!Dylan and Lucas were the artists that worked with both of us and they handled it like seasoned professionals. They were warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the whole procedure. Dylan did a great job on easing me into my first tattoo, and being transparent on the things that he was going to accomplish.Lucas finished my wifes tattoo first, and it was flawless. Dylans shade work was great and he really astonished me in bring my loose Ideas to life. I know people say that tattoos are addicting, and I now know why; with an experience like this Ill definitely be doing this more often!

Got my Otter tattoo from Kat. She spent a lot of time making this design. We did this in a few sessions, and she was so patient for the healing process. Her artistic skills are fantastic! The tattoo turned out beautiful! I would definitely let her create another in the future.

We were visiting the island in January 2021 for my sisters 30th bday. On a whim we pulled into a tattoo shop the day before we were leaving because she was saying she wanted her first 1. We browsed through the books and I decided I vibed with Anthony’s artwork the best. He was there and met with us, super friendly, chill, and personable guy. After a brief meeting he said he could squeeze us in before our flights the next day. We came back the next day and met with him, my sister went first so she wouldn’t chicken out. He was helped her rework her tattoo idea to where to was happy with it and it incorporated what she wanted to do while still being a nice and simple 1st tatt. My tattoo was my second and it went like an hour our less from stencil to finish. I was surprised at how quick it was. But the artwork was Amazing. Anthony was professional the entire time and engaging to help to time go by. Next time I visit the island I will definitely be getting another tattoo from him. All around good vibes! The shop was clean and welcoming as well. Thank you Anthony for a lifelong memory of bonding with my sister over her 1st tattoo.

Nice people . Somewhat quick service. Had another tattoo shop recommend them due to the fact that they are walk in friendly. My friend got a tattoo. Only bad part is that the artist had to constant answer the oh9ne and was the only piercer that day so she would have to take piercing walk ins as and stop the tattoo she was working on on my friend

My wife and I stopped by at the location less than 24 hrs before our departure and got introduced with Troy. The way he explained to us about the art and his professionalism got us hooked. We really appreciated his willingness to work with our schedule and start the job 1.5 hrs before his regular schedule.His passion shown on the artwork on my calf and I am really grateful for it. Lady luck tattoo. I had Anthony finish a sleeve I have been working on for several years during my visit to the big island. Everyone was friendly and helpful during my decision making process as I decided how to tie the rest of my artwork together. Anthony did an outstanding job hitting the nail on the head finishing my sleeve. The shop was clean and professional. I checked out several other shops before I made my decision. I will definitely be back again!

My wife and I got matching tattoos while on our honeymoon and Anthony was great. He came in an hour before the shop opened, to make sure he could get us both finished before his next appointment at noon. I love my tattoo that Des did. She was absolutely amazing to work with. She took my vision and made it so much better. I have her very vague guidelines, she knocked it out of the park. I felt super comfortable with her and in the shop. Everything was kept super clean! I don’t even have words to describe how much I loved her work. I was visiting Hawaii from Chicago and came across the Lady Luck Tattoo shop. I was a walk in client and got consulted and tattooed in the same day and the whole process was super smooth. I was consulted by the artist Ryan, who drew up a stencil idea based off the reference and ideas I explained to him and he drew his own stencil. Getting the tattoo wasn’t bad for my first tattoo experience and I’m so greatful! It’s very sanitary, Ryan is very precise with his work, and everyone is nice and welcoming. I am over the moon for how great my tattoos came out! First and foremost call before you go we called early and got a spot at the perfect time. My artist was Kat super down to earth and extremely talented. Kat was so easy to talk too. 10/10 and I am definitely coming back to do future pieces!

My husband and I both walked in and were immediately greeted and helped by Kat & Ryan. I ended up getting two knuckle tattoos with Kat and my husband got a knuckle tattoo and a small arm, cover up, with Ryan. They were both super kind, laid back, and efficient. They also both did excellent work on both our tattoos. Knuckle tattoos aren’t easy and the lines look super crisp, not blown out, and very simple/bold. My husbands cover up is exactly what he wanted. Everyone else that was in the shop working, was also very kind/welcoming. Highly recommend this gang for any work!

Artist: Justin MaldonadoMy wife and I just got our tattoos done by Justin. We had done a ton of research on what we wanted. We both wanted Polynesian style tattoos. However, we wanted them to have legitimate meaning. So we brought in our ideas that we had designed in our heads and described them as best we could to Justin. It was crazy how excited he got about the tattoos. Being of Hawaiian descent, he was grateful for the amount of research we had done in trying to get tattoos that told a story about us and not just getting something simply because it looked cool. Justin did an awesome job of taking our ideas and bringing them to life. He was able to create designs that were far better than what we had imagined in our minds. Not only that, but he also incorporated some historical symbols from the Hawaiian lineage that added a VERY personal touch them. Something from his own personal family history that made our tattoos not only special to us, but special to him as well. Our tattoos legitimately brought client and artist together, especially since our tattoos tell the story of our struggles through life and the story of my parents death. Justin said that he was honored to place his cultures art on our bodies, knowing they would be carried with honor and respect. His connection to his culture and the education he gave us on the things we did not yet know was incredible and made the experience even more meaningful for us.As far as technique, he is second to none. His lines were crisp and he was constantly encouraging and engaging throughout the entire process. My wifes tattoo required free hand water color design that turned out AMAZING. Justin explained to us the technique of making the watercolor look legitimately splashed on and not appear like it was intentionally animated onto the skin. He also took the time to ensure we had the tools, and the knowledge, to properly take care of our new tattoos. He takes GREAT pride in his work and he does an incredible job at making your imagined designs come to life. And he makes you feel comfortable, and confident, throughout the entire process. We are definitely going to be visiting him again the next time we are in Hawaii.

Justin Maldonado did an absolutely fantastic job on my cover-up tattoo. It was a difficult cover-up because there were a ton of fine lines everywhere, but he really did a beautiful job. I was a little nervous because he needed to do the whole thing free hand so I had to put A LOT of trust in him...and Im so glad I did!! Justin was also extremely professional and respectful - the tattoo is on my lower stomach and it would have been so easy for it to feel awkward with the location but Justin was so professional about everything I felt 100% comfortable the entire time. Im already making plans for him to add on to it for whenever I make it back to Hawaii!Pictures are the the in-progress showing what he was covering & the finished work. You can see the rough outline he drew as a guide and everything was free hand.

I’m visiting from Connecticut and I had gotten my nostril pierced maybe 3-4 weeks ago at Claire’s at the mall (big mistake). My piercing fell out yesterday when my 7 month old pulled my sunglasses off my face so I had rushed to Walmart late night to find something to just prevent the piercing from closing. I came into this shop the next day just based off the reviews and I told them the situation. They took me in without hesitation, helped change the jewelry to a bigger size and made sure I was comfortable. The place is clean and they were hygienic which was important to me. Super affordable. Highly recommend this place - thank you to the team at Lady Luck!!

I did a walked in and I got greeted by joel. I came in for a custom Hawaiian sea turtle tattoo. I just love sea turtles. Oh my boy joel did incredible job on it. Thanks a lot brother you the best. I highly recommend this place. Friendly stuff and clean environment.

Anthony and Joel came highly recommended by well respected artists and we landed at Lady Luck. They were very accommodating with our schedule and professional at all times. As with most folks, our wants morphed over time and they were both patient. Trusting the process and respecting their artistry my husband and I left with beautiful and meaningful pieces that will be loved throughout our life.Dont miss out, come here. We were treated like family, not tourists.The shop was spotless and all proper protocols in place.

My names Isaac and I got my tattoo here from Troy while on vacation. I was doing research for the entire 10 days i was here trying to find the right place to get my first piece. There is no doubt lady luck tattoo is best spot!! Not only do they have the most talented artists but the atmosphere is awesome. Troy took excellent care of me and made sure to give me the piece i was looking for. He told me all the things you’ll want your artist to do; “I don’t watch the clock when i tattoo”. Troy stayed almost 4 hours after closing to finish up my tattoo. He was knowledgeable, friendly, insanely talented and really cared about me as a client. Couldn’t have asked for a better artist for my first tattoo and I cant wait to come back to get another piece from these guys! If you are spending time researching where to get your tattoo on the big island Lady Luck tattoo is absolutely the spot. I never write reviews but i felt obligated too after having such a great experience with Troy. I recommend booking an appointment with Troy or Lucas if you want the best of the best art. Back home in the states you have to book an appointment months in advance for this kind of caliber artwork. Troy took me after a days notice.

My husband and I wanted a commemorative tattoo while we were visiting Hawaii. After reviewing each place I finally settled on Lady Luck Tattoo. There we met Marlon. He did a wonderful job for us. Marlon did my work and Troy did my husband’s. Phenomenal.work, excellent customer service and great atmosphere. I would also like to mention that the shop was extremely clean and everyone who worked there were friendly and professional. 100% recommend and would go again.

Ive had 1 ear pierced for 30 years, and decided to get the other one pierced. The young lady did great at that. Then I asked to buy an extra stud to put in the existing piercing to match the new one. She said yes and said shed put it in for me. Instead of just putting it in the existing open hole, she pierced through the existing hole on the front, but made a new hole at a bad angle out the back. She was rushed at the end, and just didnt pay attention to her work.

Lukas Brown here at Lady Luck has now given me 2 exceptional tattoos. Hes laid back and professional, very responsive, will work with you until your design is exactly right and does an incredible job with a tattoo gun! Both pieces I have from him have been original designs and he has done such a wonderful job bringing them to life. I 100% will be returning to Lukas for another tattoo in the future, and I recommend him to everyone who asks about my tattoos. I get a handful of compliments on each of my tattoos from Lukas each week, I swear.

I drove over from Mountain View just to have Heidi pierce my ears. I read her reviews and they were all very positive. I had placements based on ear acupuncture points and she was very accommodating and marked the right spots, similar to inner conch and flat. I was worried about the pain level due to research but we started with the inner conch and it was almost painless. The pain from the flat was minimal as well. Heidi is an excellent piercer, I highly recommend her services. I will go back to get my other ear done in two months.

Went on a Sunday for piercings. The woman who pierced me and my friend was awesome! I forgot her name but she only works sundays. She was very friendly yet professional. Made sure that we both seen she was using clean and new equipment for each piercing we got (6 total). She also asked how we were feeling after each piercing. Great prices as well. Will definitely be returning (on a sunday) for more.Tattoo area also looked neat & clean.

He re-outlined a large, 15 yr old back piece I never had finished; squeezing me in as I had no appointment. The lines are so crisp & clean; the piece has been brought back to life. First and foremost, I traveled to Kona knowing that I wanted to get a tattoo done. And something original. My friend found Lady Luck and we called and asked if we needed an appointment or walkins only. Surprisingly got told they do a lot of walkins. I wanted to secure my spot so I came across Anthony. I told him exactly what I wanted and within a short amount of time coming he fit me into his schedule. He blew my expectations for this tattoo. I very much loved how it came out and how great it looks. It very personalized. The atmosphere was phenomenal and just all around great vibes ! My friend got her tattoo before me so while waiting for her I ended up with two piercings ( helix and front helix). Such a great place! I got my belly button done and I love it. Jenna was so professional and helpful. I also felt really dizzy afterwards— so if you’re getting a piercing I would advise drinking water and eating a meal beforehand. But other than that great experience (: place was super clean

Ryan was great! Got in and out really quick and got great, quality work. I have 6 tattoos from him and if I ever make it back to the island then I will get many more. Cant say enough nice stuff about him. I also got my nose pierced there and it wasnt as great as my tattoo experience but it was still fine. Get your ink done here and you wont regret it.

I called about half an hour before I went in to see if they would have time for a walk in. When I got there Troy talked to me about what I wanted and was able to draw up a sketch of the Hawaiian islands in multiple sizes quickly. He was very kind and listened to what I was wanting, and helped me get the perfect placement. The shop was super clean and everyone was nice. Troy was very friendly as we chatted during the tattoo process. He had a gentle touch, which is saying something for an ankle piece. I was in and out in about an hour and a half all together, but still walked away with a beautiful piece of home.If you’re needing some ink on the big island, I definitely recommend going and seeing Troy at Lady Luck!

Clean and fun looking place at first sight. My artist, (whom I love now) Sam, was so patient with me in sketching exactly what I wanted! She’s got such a great personality and her ink work is just incredible!! She tattooed the Hawaiian Islands and on Oahu I have this adorable and amazing little pineapple, and just the detail alone was awesome, but the COLORS made it jaw dropping for me!!! And on The Big Island I have this GORGEOUS sunset.... wow just wow! She does amazing shading and blending! Definitely get a color tattoo with her!!! I traveled nearly 12 hours to Kona thinking in my mind I wanted to get the tattoo I’ve been always wanting as well as my tragus pierced! I came across this tattoo parlor thanks to my friend for recommending this place for us. When we all walked in since they do in fact take walk ins, Anthony welcomed us with warm arms and moved his schedule around to fit not only me but my other friends too. The atmosphere was amazing! I felt so comfortable and welcoming knowing this was my biggest piece yet on myself. Jenna as well was very comfortable with talking me through getting my piercing done and I can’t be more happier with such an amazing parlor in the big island of Kona, Hawaii! I was a walk in today. Like a lot of their clients.I have A LOT of tattoos and my wife wanted me to get one to commemorate our trip AND as an early Fathers Day present.I came in with an idea and was immediately introduced to Troy. We went over the design idea and size. In less than half an hour I was sitting in the back getting tattooed. While I was there I watched how the artists interacted with the clients.They understand they are in a service industry. The shop is clean. They offered my family and I water.I would go here again in a second and probably will whenever I make it back to the Big Island.

My girlfriend and I came in today thinking we were just going to walk onto a casual shop and get some flash work done. Nothing special you know? We were very wrong. My wife and daughter wanted matching tattoos and we found Lucky Lady near the Kona Brewing Company. We met Troy at Lucky Lady and he worked very patiently with the 2 of them to explain their options on tattoo location, size, colors, and most importantly, the patterns for a matching honu. After we went in, we left a deposit, then he spent the next few days sending them examples and working with them to pick out and customize the designs they were comfortable with. The tattoos were excellent, and he gave us follow-up info for the healing process and any future touch ups they might need.The bottom line is that Troy is an excellent, dedicated artist who puts the customer first and doesnt pressure anyone. He explains the pros and cons of every aspect of the process and helps you decide because he understands that tattoos are permanent and he wants you to be happy and proud of your choices. We had the most AMAZING EXPERIENCE With Justin.. we went to several other artists and just meeting them we did not feel good about them.. we went into Lady Luck and they were very helpful and we immediately made an appointment.. justin was not in but by his reviews we were really hoping to get him.. well a few hours after appt was made we had a very nice text from Justin. We were so excited!! He did a custom drawing of what we wanted and he hit it out of the park! He did exactly what we wanted and even more !! He was so humble and kind he is the true spirit of Aloha!! By the time we left we were friends! Just an amazing artist when others say he’s best in the world they are not lying!!! I highly recommend him.. we will fly from Washington for him to do any other work we have done!! We love Justin!!

My friend & I wanted to get spontaneous ear piercings yesterday! We called & asked if they could take us in sometime later that night, but informed us they could take us now! Troy is an amazing artist!My fiancé and I saw him before we left Hawaii and the entire experience (from chatting on the phone and in person days before to leaving the shop after a day of custom tattoos-was awesome)I had an existing piece Troy fit a tailored Manta to, matching the style and colors of my previous ink.My fiancé had an “idea”...we sent a picture of my hand to Troy for reference, and he ended up copying to photo on to his drawing board, AND was able to insert an actual image/figure of my fiancé and surroundings from another photo within the hand.Totally rad.His lines are clean, his color is crisp, and his energy is on point!Next time we are on the big island-we are definitely making a stop to see him!Thanks Troy!!

The place is very clean and comfortable leather seating. I went in to get my earlobes pierced. The body piercer staff was friendly and the needle didnt hurt, not at all like a piercing gun would hurt. I recommend coming here for any body piercing and tattoos cuz they keep things sterile and they are professionals. Walk ins are welcome too.

I was in teeears about the whole situation, but I was taken care of right away! I didn’t get her name but the woman who removed my piercing was so so kind and gentle. Got my nose pierced here and the whole process was amazing. The person doing my piercing was calming and assuring, making me feel safe and excited for the piercing.The tattoo art they have is also too notch .

I was going to get my tongue pierced here. I went in and I met with their piercer. Before I could ask him any questions he got out everything. But then I asked a question where he proceeded to grab his portfolio with his gloved hands to answer it. But the binder had no tongue piercings in it to show me a picture of. Then he went to grab for the needle with the contaminated gloves and went to open the sterile needle. At that point I knew he wasnt practicing safe piercing. So I walked out. If sterilization isnt a first priority then I dont need to be pierced there.
