I am so thankful that I came across Packing Ink Tattoos for a session while on Kona, but I’m even more grateful that I was paired with Jenn as our artist. She is so talented, and we hit it off from the jump. I cannot wait to come back and get more work done. First experience with a female tattoo artist and it exceeded all our expectations. The shop is clean, and the rest of the staff was super cool as well. Joe was also really cool and helped us with some local recommendations. Had such a wonderful experience getting my custom Polynesian tattoo done by Kainoa 🤩🤙 The total experience from the very first contact until the work was completed was seamless and done in a very friendly and kind manner.I was there for a limited time (1 month) and Kainoa and Lindsey both were very kind to slot me in before I returned. Noting that his schedule is booked months ahead 😅😇. The consultation was great and I had a good interaction with feedback from the artist himself.The tattoo took about 4 hours in one sitting and it was made sure that I was comfortable and there was a great rapport and conversation with the artist during the process. The Polynesian work by Kainoa is free handed on the spot and wow did I love the work. I also had some custom graphic that was requested and it blended to the whole design perfectly 🤩🙏Would highly recommend them and will be back again when I return 🤩👍👍👍 Wishing them the very best!

I asked for additional tribal art tattoo to add to the art I had done in Tahiti by a French artist on Moorea a few years ago. Kanahu agreed to do the work. We communicated but still didn’t really have a definite idea of what the design he planned on doing until we met at the shop. Kanahu’s work far exceeded everything that I asked for. I observed the other artists and their work was exceptional too. Highly recommend these artists.Only recommendation I would have is to have a written/typed instruction sheet for post care of the tattoo to be given before customer leaves. We flew home that night back to mainland and my instructions were somewhat vague. Thank you for the great artwork

Lovely experience here! My tattoo artist was Jen, she made an amazing work of art. Jo, an other tattoo artist is fun and bubbly. The owner of the shop and the other tattoo artist are pretty cool too! I recommend going here for a tattoo, 100%!

I emailed a day before I left kona realizing I wanted to get a tattoo, they were able to get me in despite being super busy!! Jen was my artist and she was the sweetest and most patient artist I’ve ever had, she made sure I was okay and assured me it was okay to take breaks and use numbing spray ahah! This is my 4th tattoo and Wow! Is all I can say. Jenn is absolutely phenomenal! She is gentle, thorough, kind and most of all, reasonable with her prices. I asked for something simple and she delivered. I have had some bad tattoo artists who were rough that sent me into tears. With Jenn, I never once felt any pain at all. I would literally fly the 4838 miles back, just to have her services again.

My good friends recommended this place after getting some great tattoos by Sean. I reached out pretty last minute and they were able to accommodate with myself and my best friend. She was visiting me on the island and wanted to get something special. I contacted them on a Thursday evening and they were able to squeeze us in on Saturday. Mele did a great job on drawing exactly what we wanted. The tattoo itself was done by Kainoa who has such a light hand and perfected the fine lettering we requested.Any additional ink I will be getting or if any friends come to visit I will definitely be recommending this establishment. I had a great experience from sta y to finish. Super professional, amazing artistry, and great communication. My artist was Kehanu who did an incredible freestyle tribal Mahahi with a little lettering, and it turned out better than I could have imagined. My son got a partial sleeve with Norse runes and Celtic knot work done by Luke, and it is flawless. 10/10 recommend!

What a great shop! Kainoa and crew are some of the nicest people on this planet . The wife and I were in kona for 2 weeks . About the end one week one I said to her , we should get some ink while were here . I started by looking up sites of shops to look at their artists work. Immediately I was taken back by kainoas work. ( the other artists have great art too) but I wanted kainoa to stick mine . I knew it was a long shot, especially when the site said hes booked out 4 months usually. I hit them up and dang it if he didnt have a cancelation the day we were supposed to leave for home( a GOD thing for sure) . I wanted a Polynesian tribal tattoo forearm wrap and it would take all day for sure . So we changed our flight stayed a extra day and got one the of the best tattoos we ever got . Im proud to wear this mans art! My wife got a smaller tattoo of a honu by Kahanuand it absolutely outstanding as well. The shop is clean , music is spot on, make a appointment with them and you wont be disappointed, that I can guarantee!🙏

Cant say Enough great things about this shop and the people who work there. We scheduled appointments with Kahanu about 2 weeks prior to the day we wanted to get our ink. Communication was easy both with Lindsey at the shop and with the artist directly. Upon meeting Kahanu we were immediately at ease. He took his time ensuring we were happy with the placement of the piece he drew a stencil for, as well as his freehand drawn on sketch for a Polynesian style tribal. Kahanu made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire session. As a couple with several tattoos each, we both felt he had a very light hand and a cute attention to detail. We couldnt be happier with our finished pieces. Mahalo Kahanu! In terms of the shop, it was very clean and inviting. We met the owner and his wife as well as other artists there. We even had the pleasure of hearing and joining in on conversation regarding Hawaiian culture and beliefs. If you are ever on the Big Island and in Kona, dont go anywhere else. This is the place to go if you want beautiful quality work.

We saw work of Kainoa and KNEW we needed to try and get tattoos while visiting. His work is phenomenal. He freehanded my boyfriends stingray and went through the meaning of both of our tattoos at the end. The shop was extremely clean and everyone was very friendly. We feel so lucky to have gotten in with such a talented artist, last minute! We hope one day to go back for more permanent memories!One thing that wasn’t explained or posted anywhere was the fact the deposit does not go towards the work, that was a bit unexpected so I just wanted to give future clients the heads up. It wasn’t a huge deal, I just wish we knew that was the case up front.

Kainoa and Lindsey are amazing! Lindsey helped me get booked on short notice and was great at communicating. Kainoa free handed a tribal piece on my arm for me. Technically, its probably the best tattoo I have. His line work is incredible and his application is amazing. He has a great hand and you can see his passion and experience in his work. I loved this place because of the awesome work that my husband and I got while in Kona on vacation. The setting up process was easy and fast. Setting up the appointment was a breeze. We paid a small deposit to get in for one day. We were there all day getting large tattoo work. My husbands took longer and came out exactly how we wanted. Then mine was done freehand and was a cover up that came out just amazing! We were very happy with the work Kainoa did as well as the hospitality we received on a quick trip by before our appointment, by Lindsey, both owners. The shop was clean and focus was very professional. The tattoos were all excellent work and we recommend getting a little work done here for sure..

Really awesome shop. I did 4 different tattoos over there and I plan on getting many more. Kainoa is super cool, makes me as well as who ever I bring feel really comfortable I never feel rushed Nd jus an overall great experience. And the most important thing is his artwork, crisp solid lines, perfect locations, has great vision of what he feels would look best. Sean was great! It was my first time getting a tattoo and I was a little nervous but the entire shop made the atmosphere so relaxing and easy to get a tattoo. Sean’s work was great, he had a very light hand. I was told the pain was really bad but that was not the case. Kainoa is great! Before I booked I had looked into everywhere I could on the island! When I saw Kainoas work I knew I needed to get booked with him! Booking was easy and very smooth! I wanted to love this experience as my friend and I got tattoos together while we were on vacation. The tattoo was okay, what I did not like was the attitude of the artist, Luke. He did not make us feel as welcome as he could have. Especially, when it came time to pay. He listed off payment methods including cash and Apple Pay. I had just enough cash to pay, but I wanted to give him a tip with my cash. I preferred Apple Pay to pay for the tattoo. He only wanted cash, he even mentioned an ATM outside if I wanted to go get cash out. Needless to say, he didn’t get a very good tip, as I had to use all my cash and I did not want to use the ATM. My issue is don’t tell me you except payment methods you are not willing to accept and don’t be rude about it.

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made when it comes to picking a tattoo shop! Especially, one that I was unfamiliar with. I’ve been to Kona for many years, as I have family there. I’ve always wanted ka traditional Polynesian or an Hawaiian style tattoo and made the decision to pick a random place simply by looking at reviews and walking in to feel out the vibe, at a few places. As soon as I walked in the door I knew that this was a spot for me. The owners are very friendly, helpful and professional. The tattoo artists are also very friendly professional ..thanks Oni!! They take their time to make sure it’s done right. Best decision I’ve ever made, especially for last minute. I’ve been to other places on the island and they have messed me all up, but this place will do you proper! It’s all family inside of this place. My boyfriend and I were visiting Kona, and wanted some tattoos to take home with us. Out of all the tattoo shops, we thought Packing Ink looked to be the best, and the work from all artists seemed to be consistent and great. We left not dissapointed one bit, Sean KILLED IT on our tattoos. We commissioned an orca whale and a pineapple skull, and we left insanely happy with the work we received. On top of kick butt tattoos, we also had great conversation with Sean and the rest of the tattoo artists in the shop. Justin is my go to. He has done a couple of mine and I cant say enough about how great he is. He truly takes pride in making sure you get exactly what you want. I had the pleasure of meeting Justin while in Hawaii to do a full color sea turtle. I originally asked for it on my foot and he gave me his professional advice as to why he thought that was a bad idea. Went to get tatted by brotha Justin Maldonado. His light hands and clean lines made me feel right at home. Checked on me throughout the session if I was comfortable or to see if I needed to take a break. His vision to see the tatt before it’s even put on the body is mind blowing. Marlon really helped me with my tattoo idea. I told him what I wanted and he did a mock up that I loved. All the artists here treated me and my sister really well and were so friendly.

Me and my gf been getting tatted from braddah justin for a while now we just love the work he does we recently just got our sons name done and he just did an amazing job hes also one of the mostly friendly person youll meet! We also would like to thank the workers at packing ink for making me and me gf and our son feel right at home its a wonderful place to be and wouldnt recommend any other shop besides PACKING INK TATTOOS!!

Lindsey answered almost immediately when I inquired about my tattoo and was extremely helpful getting me scheduled within the short time frame I had. Kainoa absolutely blew me away with my tattoo. I was originally supposed to go in for 2 sessions but things came up and Kainoa ended up doing everything in one session and he didn’t stop until it was completely finished. He is an amazing tattoo artist and if I lived closer he would be the only one I would go to. Sean ended up doing a walk-in tattoo for my girlfriend and he crushed it in under an hour and it’s fantastic. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone that wants a phenomenal tattoo.
