My friend and I had made appointments super easily using the online booking system. Our experience at the studio was great! The staff were very friendly. Our piercing artist, Matt, was informative. His presence was extremely calm and eased any nerves that were being felt. Will absolutely be going back!

I had a really great experience here. Matt was my piercer, super nice and has great energy- you can also tell that they know what they are doing.

Matthew did a very amazing job he walked me through the process and gave me a little booklet for after care instructions definitely gonna be going back!

If I could rate higher I would. I had Amanda today and she was absolutely amazing. While I was getting my piercings( cartilage) done she and I were chatting like were best friends. She talked me through every step of the process and even made sure I was ok during the whole thing!! I seriously could not have asked for a better experience.. after having had a bad one at a different place years ago I was hesitant to get them done but I’m definitely glad I went to see her.. now planning on a few more piercings for my ears and will be sending anyone I know to see them!! My friend and I got some nostril piercings today from Matt. He was super cool and very thorough with his work! He really wanted to make sure that my second nostril piercing aligned perfectly with my first one, and I really appreciate that. He does a great job of going though the process with you, step-by-step, which is awesome if you’re nervous. I also really enjoyed the person at the front desk too! They were super sweet! And not that this pertains to the shop at all, but this person also had the cutest outfit on! I never got to say that, so I hope they see this 😅 Everyone I’ve met here is great, so don’t hesitate to come on in! 🙂

I took my daughter here to get a helix piercing for her birthday and I was very impressed. The piercing area essentially looks sterile. The man who did the piercing talked her through it and was very professional. Im a total piercing novice so I didnt know what to expect really, but this place was recommended by a friend of mine and I was not disappointed at all. Very friendly. The only issue my daughter had is that she picked a gold earring and the one she ended up with was silver. Not sure what happened there, but everything else was great.

I got my lobes pierced today by Matt and he was so wonderful to me. I messed up my appointment time & he was so flexible with me. Super thorough with cleaning and walking me through the piercings too. I even asked last minute if he could change out my nose piercing & he took care of it. 10/10 recommend & will be back!

I was really impressed by my recent experience at Proper Pokes. I have never been pierced before and decided it was time. Setting up an appointment was easy enough to do online. The store was clean and the desk attendant was friendly. I chose Matt as my piercer and he was professional and friendly. Because of Matts 18+ years of experience I had a lot of confidence. Matt did a great job piercing my septum and the price was very reasonable. 10/10 would get pierced again.

Sam was incredibly professional and kind while piercing my nipples this morning. She was careful to be sure I was comfortable, and explained everything thoroughly as she cleaned, and marked the location of my piercings. She was steady and careful as she talked me through the piercing process. Just had my first nose piercing done! Ive never had anything more than my ears pierced, and I was nervous. Matt was my piercer; everything was clean, and he explained each step very well (definitely helped calm my nerves!!) He also gave me an aftercare pamphlet to follow, including the date of the appointment as well as the average healing time, basically everything I needed to know. Great service done well and amazing staff! :D

Ive been here twice for helix and lobe piercings. I have been pierced by both Sam and Matt and they were both great! The receptionist is also very nice. Would definitely recommend, wish I found them before my earlier piercings!

Clean sterile environment. Instruments, needles and jewelry were in sterile packaging. My daughter got her ears pierced they were very gentle and explained everything to her. They talked to her as a person and didn’t look to me to talk for her, which as a parent is much appreciated.

Came to get my daughter a set of second piercings on her lobes for her birthday... the staff were so polite I easily booked an appt online. Sam did her piercings and was very thorough and explained everything she was doing. We have no luck with the piercing guns and mall kiosks so I decided its better off going to the pros. We are very pleased with the results!

Sam did a industrial piercing for me! Ive wanted it for 10 years and finally did it! Got in same day! She had a great personality and loved talking with her! Proper pokes is super professional and clean. I had a nose piercing botched at a previous shop and was nervous the gentleman piercing my nose reassured me and talked through everything. Not only was the entire shop clean and professional but the staff are very polite and caring. This shop is entirely out of way but will be my go to whenever I need a piercing.

My child has previously had their lobes pierced and a now their helix double pierced all thanks to Matt. Every time we have gone in the staff was great and Matt has been nothing but professional. Also, we haven’t had any problems with the piercings.

When I called to ask a few questions, the receptionist was polite and helpful. Online booking was convenient. You may want to plan ahead for parking as it is limited, depending on the time/day, in downtown Lacrosse but everything is within walking distance.The location is historic - which is pretty cool. I got my septum pierced here just recently. Matt (the piercer) and the other staff are very friendly, and they take safety and cleanliness seriously. It hasnt been that long since I received my piercing, but it is already healing great with very minimal discomfort and no complications. I would definitely recommend this place!

Got 4 ear piercings recently. The process was quick and as painless as possible. The piercer was very nice and the studio was very clean and comforting. I came in to get my tragus earring replaced. I lost the earring after surgery and needed a new one. The online booking for an appointment was great, and they got me in and out in just a few minutes. Not to mention they were very reasonably priced and friendly!

Amazing experiance. Best piercing shop I have ever been to. I had a small jewlery issue, and it was immediately handled and fixed after mentioning it. I didnt even ask for it to be fixed. I was prepared to buy a new piece of jewlery as I felt it was my fault. Got a new piercing as well and couldnt beat the experience. Very safe and clean. Would recommend!

Matt is fantastic! I went in with my friend who wanted her clavs pierced. I wasnt expecting to get pierced too but the atmosphere was very relaxing and Matt was so knowledgeable about everything we asked that I decided to go for it. He kept me calm and explained to me what was going on and how he was going to do the piercing. Just a great experience all around.

Really Clean enviornment for a piercing. I watch my piercer open up the tools they used and he gave me the pen they used to mark me because they dont use the same pen more than once. I was in and out! Quick and pretty much painless. I was really nervous about getting my piercings Matt said I would be just fine and made sure I was comfortable and all of my questions were answered. 100% recommend going here!

Matt is the best. He refused to pierce my daughters ears without having a talk with her to make sure that she was comfortable. It might take a minute to get in with him but thats because hes taking his time to make sure hes being safe doing things right so there are no screwups. Ill always come here for any piercing needs.

I brought my daughter, age 6, to get her ears pierced and she did Great! He made sure the dots were perfect and took his time. Matts place is very clean, Id highly recommend! Funny side note, there are pics of other piercings on his wall and my daughter said next I want a tongue ring mom! Lol

I’ve taken two of my little girls to get their ears pierced here. My oldest two I took to Claire’s in the mall, which was not the greatest experience and one of them never healed properly. Our experience at Proper Pokes was superb. It was less painful, they healed beautifully, and was such a great and calming atmosphere. Went back with a friend and she got her ears pierced too! I finally bit the bullet and brought myself to get my nipples pierced. I was so nervous. Matt and his apprentice were 1000% professional and did an amazing job.

I had an earring allergy and my ear was super swollen. I was super anxious to go in and get it changed, but my boyfriend offered to get me my favorite drink if I went in and got it changed, so I did. We were a walk in, and they had us pick out jewelry. They made sure to give me stainless steel to avoid further aggrevation of my ear. I had tried to pull it out prior and ended up making myself bleed, not to mention the pain was damn near pass out level. So when Matt took out the old ring, I was bracing, and right when I thought he was gonna pull it out, he showed it to me lol. He was so quick and it was so painless that I was getting ready for him to do it AFTER he had already done it. It felt so good to get that thing out!!! Not to mention, hes been helping my boyfriend gauge his ears. Both him and I agree, that the way that Matt assesses the jewelry and touches it, he KNOWS what hes doing.

I took my niece for her first ear piercing abs to add a few of my own. Matt was so good with all her questions and was so quick she didnt hardly flinch and not one tear!!! If youre thinking about getting anything pierced, go to Proper Pokes!!!

Ive been here to pierce my nose and my triples and both times Ive had great, quick, clean experiences. Ive also had Matt help change my triple and my nose piercing which he was more than willing to do. Would recommend to anyone seeking a piercing! Great quality and great price.

My first piercing went fine, it was a nose one and I would like to go back for my septum. Except, the last time I was there, I went in for them to change out my stud to a ring since I was unsure how to do it at first. I went in and was met with a very cold, awkward, silent and almost rude vibe from Matt(I believe). If I go back, I hope this isn’t the same. I thought my first time went okay, but the more I go in the more unwelcoming it feels. If I get my septum done here, I really hope the service is better than the last time I was there. I also hope he makes sure to check for the sweet spot for septum’s.

I just got my daith pierced by matt this past Saturday and I love it! He was so nice and kind! He explained everything and was always making sure that I felt comfortable. He even gave me some of his merchandise, which I have never gotten from any other shops, and gave me a card explaining the cleaning process, the time it heals, and the phone number for the shop in case I have any questions. I highly recommended coming here, cause this is the only place Im going to come for my future piercings!

I went here for a cartilage piercing because they had good reviews from others. Matt (the owner) did my piercing. 3 days later I experienced an allergic reaction from the jewelry, I called proper pokes and explained what happened and Matt said “ I have a hard time believing that”, at this point I had to go downtown to the actual shop. I showed Matt how swollen and red my ear was and his response was “ it’s not uncommon for there to be swelling after a piercing”. My ear is extremely swollen, bright red, and hurts like hell! This is hands down the worst piercing experience that I’ve ever had! I absolutely do not recommend going here unless you like being ripped off!

I called the other day to inquire for some help. I am going into surgery today and needed my three micro dermal tops taken off before surgery. Matt said that hed be at the shop until seven and that hed be happy to help. I arrived and was immediately blown away at Matts collection of body jewelry. He carries high end, beautiful jewelry. Crystal plugs from Germany and even some of my favorite pieces from tawapa. The shop was clean and he made sure to properly sanitize his room after his piercing client before my two minute removal session. He didnt even charge me and for that I thanked him and left him a decent tip. I will be back and would only recommend Matt for any of your piercing needs in La Crosse.Thanks again man!

I had my septum properly poked. He was very professional and everything was sanitary. I liked that he explained what he was going to do throughout the prosses. He let me pick out the how big I wanted my jewelry and I love the placement. Although septem piecing can be tricky, he pierced it in the right spot. Ive have no problems with my piercing and its now fully healed:3... I would definitely recommend proper pokes to anyone. >^-^

Just needed to write a quick review. Back story: Had two ear piercings done in Denver at a high end place ($189...what?!) about a month ago. My conch piercing swelled up yesterday and I had significant pain, worse this morning. I called another shop that didnt have much to tell me and was recommended to Proper Pokes. He (as in I didnt catch his name because he graciously fit me in) looked at my ear and told me the earring needed to come out sooner rather than later and itd only make it worse if I left it (cut it out). I was hesitant and though painful, they took great and urgent care of me today. Im not sure if Im going to get the piercing redone but there are others in the future Id like and this is the place I plan to go. I cant thank you enough.

Got my septum pierced and my cartilage done on the same day, and the cartilage was absolutely painless! Septum obviously feels different since Ive never had any nose piercings but they both are comfortable and they did a great job for only $60!
