Ive had nothing but great experiences here. When a place stocks my favorite candy every time I visit, its like theyve figured out the shortcut to my heart! Seriously, candy equals happiness.My tattoo artist is always super nice and totally cool with my changes. I’m not much of a chatterbox when getting tattooed, so I prefer to throw on some headphones and zone out from the pain. My artist is cool with that, which is awesome. I’m like a statue in that chair – I dont move and I power through the pain. My tattoos always heal wonderfully, and I leave happy every time.Ill continue to go back to Lost Lakes. Ive had VERY terrible experiences getting tattooed at other places. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants a high quality tattoo, in a chill atmosphere (and good prices).

My go-to for tattoos in Madison! The receptionists and artists are friendly, and the shop is always pristine, making for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. I got my knees and collarbones done by Cass, and I can’t recommend her enough- she’s so talented with both B&G and color :) will definitely be back for more tats!

Tara is the BEST. She has done my entire leg garden, and I am so thankful for her as an artist, and for Lost Lakes as the best tattoo spot around! The attention to detail, perfect placement of pieces, the wonderful atmosphere—no matter where I live, I will always trek to LL and Tara for my ink! Thank you!

Feb. 2024Just got my second tattoo from Travis and had another excellent experience! His artistic talent and attention to detail are amazing and he made the experience easy and relaxed. Highly recommend again!April 2022I recently had a tattoo done by Travis and had an excellent experience. He spent more than an hour with me on the consult to find and design something that we were both excited about and his artistic ability is really exceptional. He was super accommodating with scheduling and payment, is a great communicator, and made me feel very comfortable during the whole process. Highly recommend!

I was really torn for a long time whether to post a review, but I think it’s important for people to know. While everyone here was nice and accommodating, there ended up being a bunch of problems with my full sleeve. It took a lot more time than originally anticipated, especially for the quality. Colors used didn’t take well, they ended up having to have a session where they re-went over the new colors. The art on the site was detailed and vibrant, along with the design I was shown. I will likely get a tattoo done over this, which kind of sucks since it’s a full sleeve. For some context, I have a full side piece in color and have had other tattoos, so this wasn’t my first and had an idea of what to expect.I posted just part of it, so you can see how the color blocking ended up. The artist chose to do blocks of color, but it’s inconsistent and there’s bare skin spots along the lines

My friend and I recently got tattoos done by Tara and I am so glad that we did. The atmosphere was great and everyone was so nice! Tara made me feel right at home and did an amazing job on my tattoo. This place is very clean and they gave me thorough instructions on after care. My tattoo is healing beautifully. I cant wait to come back and get more work done someday!

Lost Lakes is a great place to receive your tattoo. Their whole staff is full of incredible artists, but I recommend Lady B. She produces some of the most beautiful tattoos I’ve ever seen and I feel lucky to be one of the few to have my own. They keep the building very clean and make safety their first priority. Everyone is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

I had such a lovely, positive experience with tattoo artist Tara! From concept to execution, Taras talent and skills were exceptional. Her warm, friendly demeanor makes her easy to talk to, which is kinda important if youre spending a couple hours with someone! Lost Lakes has a real cool vibe, simultaneously laid back and professional. Based on my observations, all the artists were inviting to clients and super supportive of one another. Nice to walk into a place thats clean, has great music, and staff that seems like a big loving family!

I worked with Travis from Lost Lakes on getting a tattoo done that I had wanted for a long time. He was excellent to work with! Great communication, scheduling, and accommodating of my input. Very nice environment with top of the line artists, Im so happy I went here. The end result is even better than I had hoped for.

Everyone there is so nice and caring! The experience I had with Tara has been the best Ive had so far. I felt aware of everything that was happening, as she took the time to explain every step of the process. They value a good tattoo over a cheap tattoo and it shows! Will be back!

I had my tattoo done by Jake. He was a really friendly guy above all. We talked extensively about the design and got opinions from his peers at the shop. Im very satisfied with the result.The shop is clean and has a good atmosphere. The only drawback to lost lakes is that that all the artists are booked up for so long, so call sooner than later to set up a consultation!

I got my first tattoo ever from Tara!!! Tara is very friendly and sweet. She made me feel comfortable and made the whole experience enjoyable. I would definitely go back and get another tattoo from Tara! Everyone in the shop is friendly as well. The shop is clean and organized. I wasn’t overwhelmed walking in. This place is awesome!

For my first tattoo I went with Tara and she was AMAZING!! She created an incredible design that fit exactly what was in my head without much to go off of. Also, I was very nervous before I got it, but she made me feel like everything was all good, and it was. She was very professional while still having some fun during our session. When I get another tattoo, I will 100% go with Tara!!:)

I have had nothing but great experiences at Lost Lakes Tattoo on N. Sherman (formerly Iron Quill). I was basically a noob when it came to tattoos, but I wanted a sleeve. I waited years to have it done. I was matched up with absolutely the best artist for the job, owner Travis. Since Ive spent about 35-40 hours in the shop having work done, Ive gotten to know the other artists as well. I have a small, beautiful tattoo done by Brooke, and I cant wait to go back for more. Id love to have work done by any of the artists there. Its clean, comfortable, and friendly. Their prices are good, too. Youd pay the same elsewhere for lesser work. I cant say enough good things. You should definitely go there!

This was my first time getting tattooed, and I gotta say I really enjoyed my experience and the way my tattoo turned out! Jake is such a gifted artist and a really cool dude. I couldnt be happier how my first piece turned out. I felt relaxed and comfortable the entire time. Everyone is super friendly and the environment is very clean. Even with all thats going on in the world right now they have made really good decisions on how they keep everyone safe.

The building is large and spacious, with lots of cool decor and a laid-back atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. Alyssa did both mine and my wifes tattoos, and she is an excellent artist. She is very detailed, and her style is really unique. We are both extremely happy with the final product.

I worked with Jock, and I was so happy with my result! Both my friend and I came in with just basic ideas of what we wanted, and Jock took those ideas and created two really beautiful tattoos. I now proudly show off my shoulder tattoo of his design; I really love the intricacy and attention to detail that he showed. He also listened when I had suggestions for the tattoo and incorporated them beautifully into the final design. I was impressed with the cleanliness and quality I saw in the whole shop as well. Ill definitely be back!

We are so lucky to have a tattoo shop like Lost Lakes on the Northside. It is filled to the brim with kind and talented artists who will take the time to make sure you get a great tattoo. I got a tattoo done by Brooke and she did a wonderful job. We needed to do some touch-ups after my appointment due to my delicate skin, and scheduling was easy as can be. The the shop is warm and inviting and they have tons of space! I will certainly be back.

After moving to Madison and searching for 3 years, visiting many tattoo shops and receiving tattoos from artists in Madison I am so relieved to find a shop that delivers the quality I expect. Madison has generally higher tattoo prices, but that doesnt mean you get that extra value. This shop offers the same pricing as others in Madison, but the quality of service and tattoo is there. Tara set aside her whole Saturday to tattoo my sister and I. She made sure that we felt welcome and gave us great tattoos and an experience we wont forget. Dusty, Jake, and Tara were very entertaining and I will be calling this my new tattoo home.

The friendliest tattoo shop I have been to yet. They have a great staff and a good atmosphere. Everyone was kind and helpful. The whole experience was fun and professional. Audra was my artist and she rocked it. She worked with me to customize a timeless piece.

First tattoo ever. Jake was the artist who did my work and I couldn’t be happier. My hope was that I could bring an idea to Jake and have him develop it and he knocked it out of the park. He took his time and really paid attention to the small details. He worked hard to maintain a sanitary environment. Overall, everyone in the shop was super friendly and very clean. It was a great vibe. The artists are really supportive of each other. I thought this might be a one shot deal but the experience was so positive I’d definitely get another one. Go to Lost Lakes. I recently got a large arm tattoo from Jake. He was awesome from start to finish. I wanted something original and Jake was able to customize the perfect tattoo for me. He did a fantastic job. Because of his amazing talent it takes a while to get an appointment, but well worth the wait. I also love the atmosphere of Lost Lakes Tattoo. I laughed the entire time I was there!!

Its hard to find a better crew than this. The vibe when you walk into the shop is instantly friendly, inviting, supportive, for newbies and tattoo enthusiasts alike. To say the staff are capital-E Experts who know their craft feels like an understatement, theyre all dedicated artists who know their stuff. No matter what youre looking for, you can find an artist who can materialize your vision. Lastly, the prices really respect that work thats done here, but theyre realistic. This is a place to get art on your body.

I got tattooed by Ash and they were one of the most wonderful and easygoing artists I have ever had! They were so accomodating and knowledgeable. Will def be coming back again!!

First of, this was the former Iron Quill Tattoo on Sherman. I was supposed to get my first tattoo done by an artist there, but got a call about a week before the appointment after I had already met with him once, saying he no longer worked there but they had this new guy Isaac there who had been doing work for about 10 years, just not with them. I could be one of his first customers there if I wanted so I agreed. I was even more nervous now but I went into the shop and talked with him a bit and he was super cool and helped me relax a lot before I was going into the chair. He did a good job working on it for the next few hours and even took my idea farther and made it seem more complete. The colors and lines still look good after more than a year, I would recommend. Also, he rocks an impressive handle bar mustache. If I ever decide to get another tattoo he’s the guy I’m going to find.

Lost Lakes Tattoo provides an comfortable and inviting atmosphere, it is clear the artists get along great. I am currently getting sleeve worked on by Tara and am always thrilled to come back in get tatted and have great conversation.

I love Keltys work!!!!! She is so talented and has a surprisingly light hand. I cant wait to get more work from her. The shop is big and super clean and comfortable. Its a great shop. Will absolutely be back. Again and again.

I spent the day working with Jock. Immediately, he took my ideas and ran with them. I ended up with two AMAZING pieces of unique art - I am thrilled with them both. Jock and his colleagues clearly enjoy their jobs. There was a lot of conversations, laughter, and CANDY! 😁 The shop is clean - it is clear to see that Lost Lakes takes sanitation very seriously. I’ve gotten tattoos from three different places here in Madison, I would say my best experiences is from Lost Lakes Tattoo, specifically from an amazing artist named Dusty. After my first appointment with them I never considered going back to any of the other shops here in Madison.

I had some work done recently by Kelty. From the initial consultation through the work being done the experience was great. This particular piece is very personal to me. Ive had a couple pieces done here by Brooke and loved my entire experience working with her and the shop. They are making some exciting improvements to the space and Im looking forward to many more tattoos here.

I sent them ideas for tattoos i wanted. they told me the best artist for me would be jake. i waited weeks & weeks to meet with jake. i drove for two hours to go to madison. as i was getting ready for my appointment, they cancelled for vague reasons. when i pressed for answers, they acted as if i was trying to force myself on the artist. i just wanted a tattoo. i didnt even want jake especially--i would have been happy with any of the artists. i had been so excited to find a parlor with such talent. but the more i tried to clarify with them, the more they blamed me & eventually refused my business. so disappointing & hurtful.

I was tattooed by Bronwyn, and I am over the moon with the experience I had with them! They did great with my tattoo and made sure I was happy with it. Definitely will be back!

I got a black/grey armband by Brooke Sutter & cannot be more pleased with it! Hospitable staff, newly renovated space as of Spring 2018. If the building were wheelchair-accessible it would be a 5/5 for sure.

Travis always gives the best of attention to what iIm looking for and is flexible with tweaking what I need for the perfect tattoo. I dont go to anyone else, he does really great line work.
