Marina was fantastic. She made me feel super comfortable and was enthusiastic about bringing my idea to fruition. She was professional, open to feedback, and transparent about the process and pricing. She is an incredibly talented artist and, despite getting a tattoo in a generally painful spot, she worked quickly and did everything she could to minimize discomfort. The cherry on top is that she is smart, fun, and hilarious. The shop itself is extremely clean and everyone I encountered seemed professional. Highly recommend Marina as an artist and Ultimate Arts as a business.

Got 3 tattoos here and one they never finished. I contacted them and sent them pictures because they forgot what my tattoo looked like after a month and then never got back to me.

I went here on Tuesday for my first tattoo with Sleeven Steven, I loved his style from the start and knew I wanted something with the quote Faith over Fear as well as something that incorporated roses. He designed this as I told him I wanted it to be one big tattoo covering my shoulder. They are so friendly and funny- this business is amazing to work with and I highly recommend Steven. They are very clean and organized. It took me over 10 years to have the courage to go get a tattoo and they absolutely killed it. If I ever decide on another tattoo I will certainly be going here. Thank you so much for this amazing piece. I have recieved so many compliments 🙂

Jim is an amazing tatoo artist. He really brought the image i wanted to life and even exceeded my expectations. The detailed shading work is amazing! So happy I found this place!!

The work they do here is incredible. Ive had my work done by Jim and he listens to every detail and his execution is perfection. I know alot of people who get their tats done here, by different artists and all of them do exceptional work.

This is my 5th tattoo from Steve. He is a great guy who does absolutely amazing work. I wont let anyone else ink me. My husband also goes to him. Never been anything but ecstatic about his work. Here are 3 of them. Flowers were done today. Baby yoda a month ago and celtic done over 2 years ago. Will be back as often as I can afford to.

Worked with Stripe and was super pleased with the whole experience. I sent them a message with what i wanted and when i went in he had different sizes and variations and was super professional and patient with me giving me choices and options to work with. Hilarious dude and made me feel comfortable when i needed to stretch out my shoulder. Absolutely will go back in the future!

Steve is amazing! Not only a super nice guy but, an incredibly talented artist. I am so pleased with the detail. He was able to take an idea with a couple photos and turn it into something I truely love.

Honestly a great experience! From reaching out to getting my first tattoo was less than a week.I saw Marina. I gave her an image that served as the inspiration for my tattoo, but that didn’t match my end goal at all. Through our consult, she was able to /completely/ understand exactly what I wanted and deliver on it to a T. She’s a fricken hoot to talk to, is super funny, and did her best to keep me at ease during my hour appointment.She knew I was nervous, and she did her best to keep the entire event lighthearted and fun, even though the tattoo did hurt (I’m a baby). If/when my next tattoo comes, I’ll be going back to her!She’s a spitfire in the best possible way, and you’ll be lucky to have the opportunity to meet her and see her art if you choose her for your next tattoo!

This was a fantastic experience! Loved the staff. One rep spent 60 minutes with me ,during the consultation, because it was my first tattoo. He was patience and helpful and discussed my concerns. My appointment was on time and efficient. He even offered me a little recovery time when we reached a sensitive area. Most professional.

Great experience!Heidi did a great job with my tattoo. She is meticulous and detail oriented, and was both focused on what I want out of my tattoo and willing to share her opinion about what would work and look best. She did a great job executing on the design we came to.The shop is clean, which is important to me. Its small, and the workstations are a little cramped because of that, but its not bad. The space layout efficiently utilizes what they have, so it doesnt feel as cramped as it might otherwise. Its not private, so if thats important to you that might be an issue, but most shops Ive been to arent.

Just got my first tattoo done by Steve. He was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I was nervous walking in the door and my nerves were completely gone when I sat down in the chair. The tattoo turned out great. I love it! Im already planning my next tattoo, and I will definitely be getting it at Ultimate Arts.

When they say this is the best place in town to get poked they arent lying. My cousin and I went in on a Saturday (walk in day) we were 4 the in line. Rich took on the task of 2 elbow caps for us. We were there all day and had a great time socializing with the artists as well as the other customers who were getting poked that day. Clean place with friendly staff. Ive had 2 tattoos done by Jim and both started with scribbles or photos that I brought in. Jim turned these into real works of art. Hes a great conversationalist too which makes the time fly.

Good place with excellent staff. You can look up all the awards theyve won if you like. The artwork is good and they will work on designs with you as well. If your unsure about where to get your next tattoo Id at least suggest stopping in to talk with the crew here.

I got my first tattoo just over a year ago from here, and I am going in this week to get my second one. My experience with Rich has been wonderful, he is a master at bringing your ideas to life. Ultimate Arts is the best place to get poked in Madison.

I didnt do this before so going to now. I have been to your place a few times over the years and I wont go anywhere else. Everyone working there is very friendly listens to all details of how you want your ink done. Everyone I talk to when he or she mentions my tats asks where I go and I give the same answer Ultimate Arts. I will be back in a week to get another one done and then return to have a tattoo honoring my late father. Again thanks for the great work on me so far and look forward to what the next tattoos I get from you guys will look like.

First time getting a tattoo and Steve and the other employees made my husband and I feel comfortable. They answered all our questions and delivered a beautiful product. Well definitely be going back to Ultimate Arts Tattoo for our next tattoos.

My daughter has just turned 18 and couldn’t wait to get her first tattoo. After a failed attempt at a different studio, (the artist never showed up), I suggested Ultimate Arts. I had never gotten a tattoo from here, but had heard good things. My daughter went to the website and chose Jim to be her artist, because she liked his bio that was posted. She showed Jim a picture of a tattoo she liked and Jim went to work on the design based on some changes she was looking for. We went back to the appointment and Jim crushed it! His design is so much more detailed and interesting than the picture he was shown. My daughter is so happy and proud to show off Jims work. A week later I went in for mine. At the consultation I didn’t have a picture, just an idea of what I wanted. Once again, Jim knocked it out of the park!! I highly recommend Ultimate Arts and am amazed at the talent that Jim has, plus he was fun to talk to during the whole process. Thanks again Jim!! Most importantly the tattoo artists are tops! I love Stripe and have been going to him since 2004. He knows me and my tattoo style so the outcome is always awesome. The shop itself is clean and everyone is friendly. I would never go anywhere else.

Went in on a walk-in Saturday, the front desk worker was great and friendly. I brought in my own design. Chuck changed it slightly to make it work. When he got started he went so fast and even boasted on how fast he was. Not something I wanted to hear. Didnt have the talent to back it up though because he botched some basic line work and clearly doesnt know what water color looks like. Ill be going elsewhere to get it fixed once it heals.

Undoubtedly a five out of five star experience. I had Marina for my tattoo and she was great. The tattoo came out looking amazing I’ll probably be going back to her

Too much shading resulting in tattoo not looking real as I wanted & requested (looks like pen or crayon) & almost blacked out even. Good place for small or basic tattoos definitely NOT anything extravagant. Very careless work for the price I paid. I recommend going to Bad Apple on East Wash.

Best place in town to get poked!! Very talented artists. Have had all 4 of my tattoos done here and so have a lot of my family and friends. Ready for my next one!! I highly recommend this place!!

Horribly arrogant staff. Twice I tried to get tattoos here only to be told my idea was stupid and we are saving you from making a mistake. Not joking. I cant believe the arrogance of Stripe and the others working there.If you want truly good service try Steves or Cap City, they wont ridicule you or your ideas.EDIT: You didnt save me from making a mistake. I got the tattoos elsewhere, and going on 10 years now still love them. Because you dont like an idea doesnt make it a mistake.

Ive not been but want to very much. My brother in law has and is very impressed! I truly want to finally @ 50 years old get my first tattoo . My mom passed recently Id like to do a rosary around my ankle andmoms date of passing

Ive gotten several tattoos here, from several artists. Id recommend every one of them. I love the way the tattoos have turned out, and I get compliments on all of them. I also love their Tats for Tots toy drive.

Beautiful work that doesnt break the bank. This shop has a toy drive every year called Toys for Tatts, where they give a random gift certificate for each toy given to be used towards a tattoo of your choice. This is a fabulous way to help get new ink!

Absolutely the best shop in the Madison Area if not the state. I have 6 tattoos from UA, 11 if counting each sitting. Almost 50 hours of work on my body, 45 or so from Stripe (probably the best artist in the state) I live in Eau Claire now and still make the drive to be there at 6am on a walk in Saturday! Call me biased but when people rate this shop poorly based on customer service alone or a disagreement that isnt right. Its a HIGHLY sought shop with HIGHLY talented artists, its freaking busy open to close! The 50 people waiting in line the last time I luckily was the first person for a walk in Saturday denotes that. Half the people there had traveled more than 30 miles for the artists at the shop, is that a coincidence? I dont think so. This place is 5 stars any day of the week. If you want a tattoo thats done right with great skill, done clean, and done to last you years look NO further than UA.

Great place to get tattooed...everyone is kind and friendly...it is very clean...I have gotten 3 great tattoos there and it sure makes it hard to go anywhere else. I would highly recommend anyone to go to this place. You would be highly satisfied!

Steven at Ultimate Arts did an amazing job on my first tattoo! Their check in process was short and simple and the cleanliness of the shop was top notch!

Worked with Mr Chuk on a cover up for a tattoo on my foot. I wanted a mandala in monochromatic blues. He nailed it. The line work is excellent and the colors are beautiful. Hurts like hell, but thats what you pay for. Going to be going back to him for a commemorative tattoo for my father. Weve already got the design in mind.

Everyone was wonderful, but I have to rave about Steve. He was amazing from the consult to finish and the result was exactly what we wanted. I will be coming to him for many years to come!

I just recently had my consulting appointment with owner and artist, after my appointment booked I start working on my design since I am artist myself and want to have my own design tattooed.On my next appointment day I showed up with my design and artist looked at it and said that it fits perfect may be minor changes which I am agree to have. Here comes the big question (How much it will be), on my first appointment owner told me big art like this (chest+Shoulder+ arm) we charge by session (8 hour ink work= $500). I was agree to it, now on my second appointment the artist saying it will be hourly $100 totally different than what I have been told. Now the artist said that he will talk to an owner and call... It been week I havent get call back. I dont know what to say but (wrong pricing, no phone call back) these issue are totally leaving wrong image for this place in my mind. I will post in my next review if I am lucky enough to hear back from them with the price that I was been told and with work review.....

My friend and I went in to get matching tattoos, and they turned out sooo much better than I anticipated. Everyone there was very professional. Richie Rich did an incredible job.

There are no adequate words to describe how amazing this place is...all around amazing... the artistry, the environment, everything.... I went to Steves.... worst tattoo experience ever. .. there is no need to look anywhere else... the entire shop goes above and beyond when it comes to customers... I have had 2 tattoos done by Steve, with more to be done. Even when the artists are busy they have always had time to at least say hi. Exept for the tattoo done by my cousin i wont go anywhere else.

They told us 2 hour wait & they would call me. So 2 hours later I called, 2 more hours. Went and waited 1 hour at another place, got my tat, got a phone call from here saying they ran out of time for the day. From 2 hours to 5 hours later and they couldnt even get me in! HORRIBLE service!

Drove 3 hours to get here after seeing my friends sleeve that was done here. I was really impressed with the job done by Jim! I will come back here for every tattoo that I get while Im still in Wisconsin.

Amazing artists, super clean shop! This really is the best shop around. They however, do not do piercings but do have good recommendations for places that do.

I have been twice now and loved working with the artists to get the tattoos I wanted.

I went in for a consultation and although that went very well it is now seven months later and they still have not contacted me with a finished design despite my calling them 3 times inquiring about the design.
