Solid State Tattoo

Jon is INCREDIBLE. He does such a great job at understanding what you want even if you cant explain it yourself. Hes done 7 tattoos for me and I will keep coming back. My husband and Imoved from Milwaukee to Nashville a few years ago and we still come back to Milwaukee to get tattooed by Jon. Ive had so many people compliment my tattoos in Nashville and when they ask where I got them theyre always disappointed that hes not in the area. Hes also super efficient, which is a huge bonus too!

Ive been going to Jon regularly for several years. Hes truly a master at what he does, helpful in bringing an idea to life, and easy to work with. Both he and Josh are great people with tons of insight into tattoos in general. I recommend the shop to everyone, truly the best.

Great experience! I worked with Jon, and he was both talented and very caring with a memorial tattoo that obviously held a lot of meaning to me. I chose a very minimal style, but there was a lot of consideration into making sure I was happy with the design and placement. Awesome place… highly recommend!

The work was incredible. Exactly what I wanted. Joshs work is so good and genuinely it speaks for itself. I moved here a bit ago and this will be my perminate tattoo place.

Ive been going to Jon for my tattoos , Hes good at what he does, and he is very easy to work with. You give him an idea and he brings that idea to life , I have gotten 3 tattoos by Jon, and let me tell you I love every single one of them. He’s very detailed and knowledgeable when it comes down to tattoos. I recommend Jon to everyone, he is truly the best.

I grew up in Wisconsin. When I lived there, I got all of my tattoos from Jon at Solid State. Now I live in Nashville and I schedule my tattoo appointments around trips home to Milwaukee because I ONLY want to get tattoos from Jon at Solid State. Hes a master, hes kind and I enjoy his company a great deal. The shop is beautiful and comfortable. I am a customer for life. You should be too.

Jon did my tattoo and I love it!! We communicate a few time on what I wanted and when I got there he had a few designs for me to choose from. I picked the one I liked best and he did an amazing job. He is so talented. He would be your best choice for getting a tattoo!

I left a review a few years ago but the 5-stars still hold true. Jon is awesome -- hes super patient, has great punch up ideas for any tattoo vision you might have, and his work is professional/efficient/precise. Always look forward to coming in. Best tattoo shop in the city of Milwaukee. Gorgeous and clean setting. Professional artists who listen to what you’re asking for. Located in my super cute Bay View neighborhood, so you can get some food beforehand at one of the many delicious restaurants.

Stopped in yesterday to get my first tattoo! Josh was very nice and explained everything very well. Shop has a great vibe and the cost was reasonable. My daughter, who has gone other places for her tattoos also felt very comfortable there and will consider going there for her next one! I will definitely go back if I decide to get another.

Ive had several tattoos done with Jon. Love his work & his super chill bed side manner. Hes talented & easy to work with. Ive had friends & family members (1st timers no less) come in for tattoos w/ Jon as well & come back as repeat customers. The shop is spotless & displays some classic traditional tattoo art to check out while you get inked. Josh has also done 1 of my tattoos & was very professional & did an A+ job.I now travel from Chicago to see Jon whenever Im due for a new tattoo!

I drove up from Chicago for a Saturday appointment with Josh. He was so friendly and great to work with. I e-mailed him my idea in advance. When I arrived, he already had a drawing prepared and went right to work. This was my first tattoo and Josh did a great job walking me through the process. I am completely satisfied with the result. Great shop. Professional staff.

Jon Reiter did my tattoo and he was just amazing! It was my first tattoo ever and i wouldnt go to any other artist! Jon was so friendly, polite and very attentive. He took his time with me, answered all of my questions, calmed me down, gave me time to take breaks. Very understanding, i really liked it! Josh Howard did a beautiful tattoo on my calf. I didnt have a fully formed idea when I came in to schedule the appointment. But two weeks later, I showed up and its like he read my mind. I love it! Very clean, welcoming and impressive shop. Sometimes, tattoo shops can be intimidating, this one is definitely not! Solid State makes tattooing as painless as possible, well, except for the needles.

I am 56 years old, and never even considered getting a tattoo until I saw a friend of my daughters with a tattoo of Italy. I had to have one like it. I did my due diligence and looked at several tattoo shops. Having Jon from Solid State Tattoo do my tattoo was an easy choice. The store is clean as can be, which made an excellent first impression. Jon met me at the counter, I explained what I wanted, and I showed him a drawing I had done and printed. He said it would take about an hour, which was 1.5 hours less than the next lowest estimate. The price he quoted me was 60% the cost of the next lowest estimate. I made an appointment for three days later on July 5. When I arrived for my appointment (about 10 minutes early), Jon was finishing the stencil for my tattoo. We doubled checked the spelling and we were ready to go. As part of the tattoo there is a heart over the town in Italy where my dad was born and where I have family that I remain close to. Jon went so far as to take a satellite image of the town, and he placed the heart over the town, so the town was in the very middle of the heart! He could have estimated, and no one would have known the difference, but to do what he did is the sign of a true professional. Jon finished the tattoo in about 45 minutes -- his 22 years of experience allows him to get the job done accurately and quickly. Yes, it hurt while he was tattooing, but he talked to me and kept me distracted enough that I didnt notice the pain at times. It has been one week, and I have followed Jons after care instructions to the letter. All the people I know who have tattoos, some with many tattoos, have commented on how great it looks and how well it has healed. There has been a little bit of peeling, but absolutely no itching. If you are getting a tattoo, you need to meet with Jon before you let anyone else do it. The top words say, Family Forever.

Josh was a very fun guy to talk to and his line work was impeccable. He works fast, didn’t rush, and that is always appreciated when getting a tattoo. Highly recommend seeing Josh to get a consultation.

Solid State Tattoo is classy and clean and houses very talented artists. My tattoo was done by Jon Reiter. His shop and his artistic talents are fantastic. I felt he took all the care in the world to make my tattoo just what I wanted in style and coloring. WONDERFUL!

The only place I go to get work done. Ive been going to John for all of my work over the last 20 years or so. The artists he employs are great, the space is beautiful and comfortable, and the work they do is solid! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get work done.

The Staff was awesome! I have the least amount of artistic ability of anyone in the world no naturally I came in sans sketch, Steve didnt miss a beat or leak a drop of sweat onto his brow. He told me to relax for a few and I loved the first one, so we went with it. In fact, I got a second one in the same sitting.

Josh did a great job of taking my pictures, combining them together, and really made my first tattoo exactly what I wanted. Already planning out my next and will definitely be going back to see him.
