Emerald Tattoo & Piercing - Modesto

Ive gotten two pieces done so far with Emerald and Mitch specifically and both times went great! Specifically today, it was my first Friday the 13th flash event and I never felt like I waited for too long. I was also treated with respect and care and witnessed everyone calling and coming in receiving the same treatment. It was truly a great vibe both waiting and in the chair getting my piece done. Mitch made sure I was comfortable and was joking along during the session that immediately calmed down my nerves from the pain. I was also assured that my spouse could come in immediately after me (they were watching our kiddo at home) and the staff treated them with the same respect and care. Im glad to have finally found a home spot for tattoos.

Had my piece done by Taylor. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. It turned out better then I hoped for! Everyone at the shop is so friendly, and made a long tattoo go by like nothing!

Came in for a very specific piece and Casey went above and beyond to make sure it was developed to my liking. It was my first tattoo and Im very happy with the experience, the warm conversation and of course the outcome!

I went to Emerald with a few of my friends so we could all get piercings. I’ve been wanting my Eyebrow for a bit and I had multiple friends who have been to this shop for their eyebrows and they recommended it. I was super nervous until I actually met Daniel and my fears started to all go away! He is great at explaining and making you feel really comfortable with his friendly demeanor. There was a worker with him who he told me would explain to me the piercings and she did a really good job explaining the aftercare process and just process of the whole piercing. It was very painless and overall a great experience. My friends both got nose piercings and theres look great. The only thing was they put the wrong jewelry in for my friend but they were so so professional about it and apologized a ton and even offered the piercing to be changed out for free in a couple weeks, so she really was not mad at all about. We all love our piercings! Overall it was such a good experience! I will definitely be coming back for many more piercings!

This place is great. When I went, the person at the front was nice and answered all my questions about my new piercing. Daniel, the piercer, did a great job with my eyebrow and Im seriously considering getting more. This will be my go-to shop. Very welcoming. I definitely want to come back with friends.

I been getting my piercings there for the past year or two every single time was a great experience,friendly and thoughtful staff, I trust them fully with my piercings. It’s always great to be there and get something done.10/10 and would 100% recomend going there if you haven’t yet.

Im beyond satisfied with my experiences with Emerald. My first was just popping in for an emergency earring change out like a year ago. That alone made me decide Id come back for my next piercing and I got to do that about 2 weeks ago. From walking in to walking out, Ive never felt more listened to or cared for in this industry. As someone who tends to pass out from piercings, they knew exactly what to do to make sure I was NOT going to do that. The communication is clear and the people are super cool. Ill 1000% be going back for my next piercing!

Went for a Friday the 13th tattoo special. They had a huge turnout, but handled it great and ensured everyone left happy. Christian managed everything incredibly. Casey did a great job with the tattoo. Will be back!

I’m a photographer and I’ve been really wanting to get some of my favorite photos put on as ink and so I went and talked with Taylor. She got exactly what I wanted and made it work with my existing ink in that area she was super nice and really talented. I could not recommend Emerald Tattoo in Modesto more!

We came to visit my family from Dallas, Texas and my daughter wanted to get her 2nd tat in Modesto, California since her 1st she got in Norway. I searched reviews and decided to give Emerald Tattoo a shot. We are soooo glad we did!! She wanted a sort of tribal spider on her forarm, we showed him a picture as a guideline & our tatoo artist Amir went straight to work drawing it up. We were more than happy with the results and he got to work tatting her. It was AMAZING! EVERYTHING WE WANTED AND MORE. We walked in without an appointment and the whole experience only took about 1.5 hrs, if even that. We even came back the next day to have him touch up the tattoo she had just gotten in Norway 1 year ago that was sooo faint it just looked faded/muted. It had to be touched up! Of course he did the most amazing job. Definitely recommend this man, his talent is a cut above!!

Very comfortable shop and tattoo experience! Everyone is so nice, helpful, and skilled. So far, I’ve gotten multiple piercings by two piercers (I forgot the first but the second was Daniel) and multiple tattoos by two artists (Casey and Taylor). After my first visit, I quickly decided that this was my go to shop for any piercings and tattoos I want. The flash events are great and I look forward to a consultation for a piece when I get the chance. Highly recommend this place! :)

Can’t say enough good things about Daniel! He’s pierced me twice now and both times made the experience as comfortable and easy as possible. He’s great at explaining everything that he’s doing and making you feel confident in his abilities. He is clearly knowledgeable, takes his time answering any questions you have, and makes sure you are completely satisfied with placement before he ever touches the needle. 10/10 recommend him for all of your piercing needs!

Visited today. Very nice experience. Super clean inside and out. The owner and the piercer were both very kind people. My daughter was provided with snacks and water to calm her nerves. Very professional procedure. Quick and easy. We were treated with great respect and I appreciate that a lot. My daughter loves her new nose piercing.

Best place to get piercings, felt so welcomed and everyone is nice!

I’ve gone in multiple times for piercings and it’s always been very sanitary and nice. However me and my best-friend went in for a tattoo I would like to start by saying this tattoo is the size of a quarter and a half. They charged us 100 dollars each. And not just that but my sister went and got a tattoo there and they butchered absolutely butchered it and still made her pay 280 for it. They literally misspelled the word! My sister didn’t tell me about where she went for the tattoo so when I showed the tattoo artist who was doing our tattoos he said he knew who it was but didn’t want to tell us where my sister got it from. Low and behold it was from this tattoo parlor . So not only did they butcher my sisters tattoo but they overcharged us . I feel like we were to naive and it was our first tattoo but that’s just unacceptable.

New review because the piercer gave me the wrong size piercing to change into and that is so incredibly frustrating. i wasted $10 and now am stuck in the original big size piercing until i can buy a new one, but i don’t even know what size bc they didn’t tell me! great experience with tattoos but TWICE now my piercings have been messed up by emerald, you may want to think twice before you get a piercing there.

Honestly its a really great place to get a tattoo I personally only have had one tattoo done here my wife has had two my son actually got his ear pierced here and weve been happy with all the work I plan on having more tattoos in the future and so is my wife I will definitely be coming here again and honestly I wont go nowhere else highly recommended for any tattoos or piercings.

If I could give them zero stars I would very unprofessional as soon as you walk in they were talking about one of the clients ID Like where they lived mattered to them and then they proceeded to be rude and unprofessional and didn’t even care to take the time to examine where I was going to get pierced and just said he couldn’t do it (Daniel) ended up at red dragon and they took their time and were very professional nothing like Emerald Tattoo

Fixed my navel piercing for me and explained everything clearly. Whole staff(really everyone inside) was so nice and the whole atmosphere was great.

This is my favorite place to go and get tattoos. I got my first tattoo for the first time here and it came out amazing the artist did exactly what I wanted and it came out perfect we did have to go back and put an E on it but he did it with no problems. There’s no extra pay. It was perfect and he did it as if he never even forgot it on that tattoo so perfect and it was so quick and painless. Also, I got a septum nose piercing here and it was so painless , the way he did it I don’t even know what happened! This is gonna be the only place I get my tattoos done ✨ The tattoo artist that did my tattoo is Amir ! I don’t remember the piercers name but he was amazing too !

If I could give emerald more than 5 stars I would. This was my first tattoo and very significant for me. Taylor did an amazing job!!! They explained the aftercare in great detail; as someone who is in the queer community, I felt completely safe and taken care of by them. All of the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and the price was fair.

I had both my belly button and septum pierced here. Both piercers were very nice, however, about 7 months after having my navel pierced and it being constantly red and irritated, even with proper after care, I was informed by another piercer it was pierced incorrectly and was rejecting because it was simply just pierced through my stomach. I was then later informed my septum was also pierced in the incorrectly.

Got my first tattoo yesterday from Mitch. Mitch provided a great design and made the experience truly enjoyable. The staff is very welcoming and you can tell that they care about their customers. Go to Emerald for a tattoo and stay for their resident comedian, Dave (also a great artist)!

I got my first tattoo here with Mitch. It came out amazing! He made me feel so comfortable and relaxed even though I was really nervous. He kept checking on me to make sure I was doing okay throughout the process and he has a nice calming presence. 10/10 would recommend. I already can’t wait to go back for my second tattoo! Had to go in a few months later for a small touch up, free of charge. Called and was booked for the next day. They were all really cool and understanding and assured me that if I have any more issues or concerns to give them a call. Couldn’t have picked a better place to get my first tattoo.

It was my first time in any tattoo shop and I went to get my helix pierced. The guy at the front desk was so welcoming and friendly which was really appreciated. He even handed out snacks and water while I was waiting. I got my piercing done from Joseph and he was very nice, professional and answered all my questions. The whole staff seems really nice actually. Definitely will come here again if I need anything done and definitely recommend it.

Just got my girls 🍒 pierced and my smiley done here! They were done by a female unfortunately didn’t catch her name! Had orange hair tho :0 she was super awesome!! The guy at front desk was super friendly too! The whole process was honestly super quick. I loveee my 🍒 piercings so much, unfortunately I didn’t like my smiley it didn’t feel how I was expecting it too and I knew I would get annoyed with it so we took it out, so sad!!! (Was not the piercers fault at all) the prices are SOO GOOD!??? I’ve been going to a piercing shop in LA where one ear piercing cost about $100 😭💔 so I’m definitely coming back!!

Brought my 18 year old son in for his first tattoo. He was super excited, but a little nervous; everyone there did a great job at helping him to feel calm and brave. I especially want to thank Mitch for how he worked with my son and kept him pumped up throughout the process. I will definitely be back here for any future work we may have done.

I got my nose pierced this morning and it was the best experience! Everyone there was kind and helpful and the price was amazing. Nyx was so sweet and did such a great job. I could not recommend this place more. I will definitely be coming back.

My experience was just for a regular ear lobe piercing - tattoos or more complicated piercings may vary!You have to fill out a nice amount of information on their tablets. I had about a 30-minute wait, you can wait inside or outside its your choice.The woman who pierced my ear was an absolute angel. She was so kind to me and made sure I was comfortable before the piercing and offered me to lay down after if I needed it (Im squeamish). She made such a scary experience to me very easy. I will keep coming back for her kindness alone.I will be back for the second ear to be done by only her :) sorry I didnt catch her name!

Went in for a tattoo with KC Moore she did a great job with letting me get comfortable with the placement of my tattoo, I gave her a photo of what I wanted but asked for her to change it up a bit and I was very happy with the results, For this being my first professional tattoo I had a great experience. Not even 30 min after I was done with my tattoo I decided to get my belly button pierced for my first time and Erin did an amazing job lining it up and making me feel comfortable, It was a very quick and easy experience!! I definitely recommend this place for either tattoos or piercings.

They had their Friday the 13th piercing specials and even though the line was extremely long I waited and was so happy I did! I love my rook and my not so other PG piercing! Erin was so awesome. He did my vertical labret and it was quick and painless! It has been 2 weeks and still no swelling, thank goodness! I got my 7 piercings done at Emerald with a different piercer a year ago(I only trust Emerald). I can say the shop is really excellent with customer service plus Erin takes good photos of his clients too.

Clean, efficient, great customer service!! My mother in law and I came in to get our noses pierced. Loved your reviews on yelp and your prices are fantastic. They offer bottled water and snacks while you wait. Which wasnt very long (we did not have an appointment). Now my husband and I are planning on coming back for tattoos.

We went as a group of three and we all got ear piercings, and we were in and out in half an hour max. It was so fast, and so clean. The piercer seemed really experienced and made the experience better. 10/10 will keep going back there.

3rd time we have been there, this time we went for some piercings, my son got both of his ears pierced and my wife got her nose pierced, very professional and the piercer explained the whole process to my son and made him very comfortable and it was over before he new what happened.

Took my daughter here to celebrate her 18th birthday with a nose piercing, that she has been wanting for over 2 years now. Staff was friendly, and welcoming. Bre was the young lady that provided the service. She was gentle and quick with the piercing process. Environment was very clean and set up well.. Great 👍🏽 job everyone . I would definitely recommend and go back if need to.

This was my first time getting a septum piercing Daniel did an amazing job of explaining the process and exactly what he was going to do. I hardly felt any pain and it came out symmetrical. Would come back for another piercing again!

When I walked in, it was my first time there (and at any piercing shop, for that matter). The guy who was at the front counter was very friendly and super patient with me and every question I asked!! He definitely eased my nerves before I got my piercings. It was my first time getting my lobe pierced with a needle, and I can confirm that a needle is a million times better, safer, and cleaner than a piercing gun. It honestly didnt hurt at all, just a slight pinch and it was over! Amber did an amazing job piercing my lobes and did them exactly how I wanted. She also answered all of my questions and talked me through the process of the piercing as well as how it would feel afterward and how to clean the area. The shop is very clean and had a great vibe right when you walk in. I will be coming back here for sure!

I got my first tattoo here and will likely get any future work done here. The place had a good vibe, super nice people. Didnt give me a hard time for being admittedly anxious with a very simple design. They were able to squeeze me and my small group in as walk ins. Pup was really great and talked me through the whole thing. Plus my tattoo looks great.

My girlfriend got some script on her arm and I got a Japanese face mask, they came out so good and they were a fantastic price. 10/10 I would get my next tattoo here, well worth the time and money. I went in with my friend to get piercings. All employees that we met were extremely welcoming and helpful. Nikey pierced us and she was the ABSOLUTE BEST. She made sure that we were comfortable and knew what she was doing throughout the piercing process and informed us well on aftercare and healing time. I was extremely nervous and fidgety, and unfortunately I couldnt stay still or handle the pain well but Nikey got me through it and calmed me down. Ill be going back anytime I want a new mod because of how amazing my experience at Emerald Tattoo was :)

The reason for the two stars instead of one is because the shop was clean and I could tell the employees within the shop were extremely talented as well. My problem was with the store manager or shift manager (not really sure who he was/ what his position was). He was a really nice guy and knows how to have a conversation well. But, the thing that got to me was the fact that I went in there to get a tattoo done where I wanted it, not where he wanted it. I wanted it on my forearm and he told me “no, get it higher because you’ll want more tattoos later” like what? I’m the one getting it on my skin, I appreciate your opinion but like I said my skin not yours. Also the friend that I was with chose last minute not to get it done that day. Obviously I would be mad too but the manager took it a whole another level. He went on by saying “just get it done today, were already ready” “my guy is going to be sad” “you’re already here might as well get it” and so on. Like come guy, I know your itching for a sale but if he’s not ready, then he’s not ready. Once again, I have nothing against the shop/ the employees. I just wish the manager or whoever the hell the guy was to respect the decision of other and to not be so controlling as it is his customers skin not his.

Found Emerald through a search and I am thankful I did..When my daith earring fell out a couple weeks ago I went back to the original place (not emerald) I had it done at and they said that it had closed already and to come back in 2 weeks. I was crushed but also knew that I would not go back. I many issues with the earring they used and decided to go elsewhere.I am thankful I found emerald they were upfront and honest about the price, the process, the place was clean, and the employees were professional and friendly.The piercer took the time to go over precautions and recommended that I wait longer to repierce the ear that the daith fell out of. I opted to have the other ear pierced and before I knew it , it was over. Overall not in much pain and love how it turned out. Definitely will be back once my ear heals to have it pierced.

Fantastic experience. The piercer was such an incredibly nice lady, and the tattoo artist who likes D&D was amazing. Incredible work and lovely conversation. Will be heading back there for all piercing and tattoo experiences in the future.

I went to get a nose bridge piercing about 2 weeks ago. The piercer said that I didnt have enough tissue/skin for it and I was pretty upset about it, so she tried her absolute best to help me figure out what else I wanted to get because I didnt want to leave without getting something. She was an absolute sweetheart. She was very clean, fast, and very helpful and she made the experience all that much better. I will definitely be going back to get more piercings.

Last night I took a risk - didnt worry about others opinions and walked into this tattoo shop to get the cat tattoo Ive been thinking about for over a year! The front desk lady was so nice. I was scared like crazy but she was warm and welcoming. As people came in for piercings and some as well for tattoos they talked to me to calm my fears. They provided advice and told me not to worry.My artist was Chris and he was quick and kind . The front desk lady started by even holding my hand while I was worked on.The wait was crazy long - 3 hours! but the tattoo ( because it was a small cat on my wrist ) was short and sweet. YES it hurt but Chris explained it perfectly before starting. If youve ever been scratch by a cat this feels like that but last longer. And he was 100% right. It was such a comfort too because knowing that made me relax more -- but it still hurt.I dont think I will get another tattoo any time soon. I can gladly recommend this place and show off my tattoo to anyone who wants. They have the best prices in Modesto and amazing customer service. I have no regrets and feel free as a cat now. :)

Bad peircings. Theyre so tight I could never remove them without a professional and the salt water spray they push destroyed my chest piercings. The tattoo I have is uneven and the placement is weirdly angled.The staff was nice, I liked the jewelry they sold, the prices are comparable. My skin just took too much abuse to recommend to another person.

So awesome. My friend and I walked in and Nix(or however she spells it lol) was such an absolute doll!! Just an overall delight! She was so sweet, very caring and made sure you were comfortable. Drain is the best. I absolutely love every piece he has done for me- 3 total including a half sleeve. The shop is always professional, clean, and respectful of clients wants. Drain is a solid tattooer, has fantastic pricing, and us a spectacular Traditional style artist. I ve been tattooed at almost every shop in Modesto, but will keep coming back to Emerald for their exceptional artists and customer service.

I recently went in to get my philtrum pierced for the third time. Ive never been to this place before, and I was curious. Its tucked away in a little corner, which is such a shame because the interior is awesome, and the staff was welcoming. Everything was so well displayed, and I loved the overall atmosphere. The employees are the coolest, friendliest people Ive ever met in a tat and piercing place, and I felt very comfortable in this setting.My piercer, Tegan, was so easy to socialize with, seemed extremely knowledgeable and even told me about her experience, got my piercing done quickly and without the suspense, and managed to center it beautifully. Im extremely happy with the placement and quality of my piercing. This ones not coming out! Loved this place took my 3 year old to get her ears pierced excellent Job Babygirl didnt even cry, and Erin was a huge help after haveing my daughters earing fall out 3x Erin was able to figure everything out going out of his way to meet. Will be comming back for my second daughter.

Just got a tattoo by Drain, and he meets mine and my fiance expectations everytime. Emerald is one of the best shops in town. Your meet with great service from start to finish, and always treat you like family. Drain is hands down a great artist, and his little touches are something someone should ask for when getting a tattoo from him. I send all my friends to him and he is my go to. Id give them 100 stars if I could.

Ive gotten a few pieces done here, very clean with nice people but I wont be going back. Only one time I went I got something similar to what I actually wanted. I showed pics and discussed the tattoos months ahead of time, but on game day I left with nothing like what we had discussed. I dont think one of these can be fixed. Two different artists.

First off the staff is amazing you wont find another shop like this one in modesto. I happened to spot this place while heading to a dentist appt, so I decided to pop in and see what the prices were for piercings. Tyler was super friendly and welcoming and Joseph did a phenomenal job. It turns out my eyebrow piercing was still good and just needed stretching and a post. I got my septum, medusa, vertical labret, and my two collar bone dermals, both my nostrils, and some repiercings. I love the piercers here and I keep coming back for more. They are so sweet and gentle and walks you through the entire process as well as make jokes and are great at small talk. I make sure to tip them as often as possible.

I came here to get my nose stud changed to a hoop recently and didn’t not have the best experience, unfortunately. It was extremely painful—I found out later that it was because the hoop was much thicker than the hole itself. It did not lay on my nostril as I thought it would and it was super uncomfortable :( I ended up switching it out with a smaller hoop that I’m much happier with. The man at the front desk was very friendly, though!

They werent pushy, they were looking out for my best interest. The main dude who did my tatt even said if I can get it done, you better off going somewhere were they can, I respect that! Great service overall, happy with my result!

By far the best shop in Northern Ca. Tristen along with all of the Modesto shop posse are awesome! This shop has customer service completely dialed in correctly. There are not a lot of places who offer you food or drinks and also do follow up calls just to check up on you to make sure your good. I may Sound bias when saying that Cody is the best artist since he has done all of my tattoos, but I guarantee if you check out some of his work you would find it hard to argue that his passion and skill set for his craft shows and speaks for itself. rarely have I gone out anywhere in public where I am not complemented and asked about the ink work I have and where the shop is... seriously so often enough that I probably could be put on the payroll for PR . If you want a top of the line great experience then choose Emerald Tattoo

This place is amazing. First time i went there was because I needed a cover up job from a previous tattoo i had that the previous artist was refusing to fix, I went to emerald, explained them the situation and they recommended me to have Amir help me. Amir is amazing, we sat down for like 5-10 minutes and kinda explained him the situation and what i wanted on there instead that could help cover it up. He went in the back and sketched what I wanted and what he thought would be the best way to cover it up and make it look beautiful at the same time and I was mind blown. Not only did he cover up the old tattoo to the point you can’t tell that it’s there, the end result was astonishing. I really recommend Amir from Emerald Tattoo if you want a cover up or any tattoo in general, he is one of the best artists I’ve ever met. I’ve been also going to Emerald for my piercings too. I’ve had Nikey do my rook, snug, daith, and tragus, as well as stretching my lobes. Before Nikey, I’ve gotten my ear lobes and my helix done. I want to point out as well that I’ve had a huge fear of needles over the years. The place where I got my lobes and helix done did not do a professional job and the holes had a hard time healing. They also made me feel bad about my fear of needles. So I decided to try out Emerald as well. I was amazed. Not only Nikey did a really professional and clean job, she didn’t make me feel about about my fear, instead her work helped me get over that fear as well. I also want to point out that Nikey has a great eye for piercings and she is really good at recommending what kind of piercings you should get in each ear, which piercings would good together and which ones wouldn’t. Overall, I really recommend Emerald for both tattoos and piercings, Amir and Nikey are one of the most professional and best artists I’ve ever met, and i’ve been really happy with their work.

The guy at the front desk is the reason why I took my business elsewhere. He was super rude, and unwelcoming. It made me so uneasy that I ended up leaving and taking my business elsewhere.I went in for a tattoo consultation, I wanted to get DCs The Flash lightening bolt on the inside of my finger. The receptionist told me it could represent a racist tattoo and tried to convince me to color it in. I dont understand how a lightening bolt can be racist. Mind you, there are people in the little waiting area. (So uncomfortable)Then, when I went to schedule the appointment is where I had enough. He said were pretty open on Sunday, what time do you want to come in? I told him 1pm, he said 12:30? I replied with no, does 1, or 1:30 work?He replied with I said Id prefer 12:30. His tone was so disrespectful with me at that point, I will never return and will take my money elsewhere.When you hold a position working with customers, you dont want to make the customer feel like its an inconvenience to walk into the shop. And thats EXACTLY how I felt. Very disappointed, and was pretty embarrassed

I had a nose piercing from here done coming up a year in February i believe and this whole year I have fought with a bump or a keloid after I kept my piercing clean and rarely touch it, I went to a second shop not too long ago and they said my piercing is at a wrong angle and the bar of the jewelry they pierced me with was WAY to big and causing pressure which is causing my bump so I now have to wait until my piercing closes and heals to get it redone correctly

The ONLY tattoo shop I’d trust for a tattoo or piercing in Modesto. Every other shop is dirty, unfairly priced with artists that couldn’t care less about their work. Emerald has a reputation for the opposite. Respectable, talented artists, fair pricing and excellent customer service.

Mitch was my artist, I must say he was professional and fare. But only problem I had was one tattoo he had to touch up a little more and it bled a lot and actually cut into my bone which caused an infection and took a bit longer to heal, the tattoo came out ok. He wouldnt even take a picture of his work because he knew it was/ looked fd up. So Ill be back for another touch up soon.
