She was very kind and explained everything I needed to know, reassured me I had the anatomy for the piercing, advised me on what soap she prefers, placed the piercing perfectly and was overall one of the best piercing experiences I’ve had. The piercer guy is mean and scary. i felt like i was about to get yelled at any moment idk if that’s part of the shop’s aesthetic or sum but i’m never coming back 🫣 but they get a generous 3 Stars from me because my Piercing was painless and healed well that i can’t complain about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sought a professional nose piercer......Had a great time; Julianne pierced my nose with all authenticity. Not only a great piercer but just right for 18 and up...they are still kids...they will love her.....will recommend her to others. The most gentle giant....Ms. Julianne with much Gratitude. Went to get my nose pierced around two months ago here. About a week and a half after getting it, i developed a massive irritation bump because they use extremely cheap jewelry. Also, they pierced me with an extremely small piercing and it would sink into my nose. Went to black moon in fairfield after having an irritation bump for over a month, and had to change and swap out my piercing for higher quality jewlery. Also, when i went back to jinx proof to show them my irritation bump, they completley ignored the fact that the jewlery was cheap, and they told me to put a “hot rag” on the bump. Do not get pierced here.

Just got out of here and i am extremely happy !!!! Great group of guys that do great work but are also friendly and accommodating (my tattoo artist was Jay) . The facility is clean from the front to the back, even the bathroom was pristine!!! Go check them out , you wont regret it!!!

On a saturday eve, my wife and I popped in for a spur of the moment tattoo. We were extremely nervous since it was our first time. We had so many questions, and obviously fears. Eric was so nice that he patiently clarified all our doubts; and made us feel at ease. At the end of it, I never felt like I had my first tattoo done. Eric is probably the best guy youll want to do your first tattoo. I feel this place is perfectly priced as well. I would def recommend Jinx Proof to anyone.

I saw a post about lack of knowledge and bad piercing experience and I felt like I should give my ExpBilly was my piercer and he was very nice. He walked me through the experience and allowed me to ask all the questions I wanted before and did the after care instructing.This was around 4 years ago and Ive never had an infection and my pierced faster than several people Ive meet *industrial*I brought a friend there as well to get her ears priced for her birthday and she has never had an infection and was very comfortable.In the 5 years Ive sent 3 other and Ive never heard them have a bad experience with any of the staff. ( the most recent person a little more than a year ago for belly button)I know I wrote alot, but I hope this helps someone with there decision whether to go or not.

Brought my daughter to get her second ear piercings and an eyebrow piercing. The woman was very nice and attentive. Place was very clean and we were lucky enough to get street parking right out front.

Professional place for picering comes straight out of the package and sterilized. Didnt get the womans name that does picerings, but she was very professional and informative about my nose picering.I had to come back a 2 1/2 months later cause my nose ring slipped out, and she was able to replace it with a shorter nose ring.

While finishing off our vacation to the Bahamas here in Montclair we were out walking the streets and were welcomed in with 1 hour left. The dude there got me and my daughter in and done within an hour. Did a great job as well!

I got a belly button piercing here & they barely took any skin!! So unprofessional I can only use the 6mm belly rings. If I use the normal ones the whole bar dangles so much over my belly button it looks horrible. When I asked how to clean my ring they looked clueless and didnt have any cleaning solution. You would think as a piercing place/tattoo shop it would be more professional, but nope. DONT COME HERE. Better off going to downtown Paterson

Didn’t have an appointment and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a piercing. Not bad at all. They were super accommodating and professional. Chris did my piercing and made the process quick and easy.. barely any pain! I love straight forward people who just do their job in a timely manner without an issue. Such a swift and pleasant experience. Will def be back for a tattoo 😊

Completely unreliable with appointments.. I was told to come in right when they opened (at 12) for a small tattoo the day of my birthday.. I arranged babysitting and walked in at 11:50, nobody even came to the door for a while, then I was told they couldn’t do it and to go somewhere else for my tattoo.. the guy that “helped” us was extremely rude. Never going back

I came into this shop with a friend today. We originally wanted small matching flower tattoos on our wrists. Jay told us this was not possible because “there was too much detail in the flower” for the size. We changed our flower choice and still ended up with much larger versions than what we wanted. It was as if our design choice wasn’t worth his time. The whole process felt rushed and he treated us as if we were a couple of teenagers. We just wish we were listened to and respected by the tattoo artist. We really liked the way our tattoos came out in the moment… but after reflecting on the experience, it just isn’t adding up. I guess this isn’t the right shop to come to if you want a dainty tattoo. I also got a rook piercing by a different worker which went well.

A horrible experience. First, the piercer made us wait before dealing with us a at all. His communication skills were terrible, he asked me the same question three times expecting a different answer after the first time. I thought he didnt hear me, so i repeated myself. I told him we were getting nose piercings and he gave us a forms to fill out. After we fill out the forms he asked me what piercing I wanted. I tell him I want my septum pierced and he goes on to say he doesnt do them. Of course he is the only piercer there. Septum piercings are common body piercings. If you dont provide a service for whatever reason, because one was not given, you should notify potential clients. When I said we wanted nose piercings, he should have told us he didnt do septum piercings before he made us fill out forms. Total waste of our time but we found a nice place in walking distance that was a great experience.

I love this place. The staff is so friendly, the place is clean and spacious, and the job thats completed is exactly what is asked for.I just recently got my tragus pierced and it barely hurt. Unfortunately after few weeks, the piercing fell out but I went into Jinx and the staff immediately took me in and put the piercing back in. They didnt charge me and they welcomed me back if I come across any other issues.I highly recommend this place for any people that have never received a piercing or tattoo and want one!

They were able to accommodate a Friday night walk in appointment for me. The tattoo is cute and the facility is clean, just deducting one star because my tattoo artist told a female colleague of his to get used to misogynistic treatment (???) while he was actively tattooing me

I got my double forward helix done here and I am so happy with it. I did the 1st piercing about 2 months ago and went back today to get the 2nd one done. Bill did both my piercings and was super helpful and did an awesome job. He talked me through the piercing process both times and was very professional. The price for the piercings arent bad at all! The piercing was quick and I am just so happy with the results. I would definitely recommend coming here :)

Whatever you do, don’t get pierced there. I got my first ever piercing there in October of 2021, followed the instructions and took great care of it but it wouldn’t heal. I called the shop multiple times and even went back there for the piercer to look at, he didn’t, just told me a bunch of rubbish. Not once did he even look at it. Fast forward a month after that, I got a keloid. So yeah just avoid

Bill is AWESOME! I got my belly button pierced by him a few weeks ago and he was really nice and super informative. I just stopped back in because the bar on the jewelry was too short for me and he replaced it within 5 minutes. I will definitely be back.

I wanted to get my belly button re-pierced so my friend suggested this shop. Chris ( the piercer) was very cool and made me feel calm ..very clean , gentle , and professional as well. Before you know it I took a few deep breaths and it was done no pain no problem ...it’s also healing very nicely ...THANK YOU

I came in for a tattoo I have wanted for years. Ox tattooed me, and it hurt a lot, but he was kind and patient the whole time. It turned out amazing and was so worth it. I’ve gotten a few piercings here before as well, and the place was clean and the staff was always super friendly.

I came in for a nose piercing because I heard a good review from a close friend who got a tattoo in September. When selecting jewelry for the nose, you only have ONE size option and about four “tacky” color options as the receptionist/apprentice said himself. The piercing was very straight to the point and almost didn’t even want to count down from 3 even though you’re paying FIFTY dollars to put a needle in your nose. The place is clean and everything was sterile but...After the piercing was done and care instructions were given. Less than 24 hours later, the piercing began to literally sink in my nose. Due to how freaking small their starting size jewelry is. Which is absolutely not “universal”. As I come in the following Monday to figure it out. The receptionist is very rude and I have to almost cause a scene in front of incoming customers just so he can take me into the back. He tries to explain that this it is very common for nose jewelry to sink all the way down into your skin which is absolutely ridiculous. I get the SAME size jewelry put in again, but bent slightly different but still the same. BY THE TIME I WALK TO THE CAR I notice it begins to sink again. so I say the hell with this establishment and call the $50 I spent a bad investment and never look back. Moral of the story Jinx Proof tattoo is not up to par with catering to different noses for piercings. My obvious guess is that they are bending the jewelry in a “L” shape instead of a circular or U shape as well as the tiny diamond size. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I went for a nipple piercing, it was pretty quick with the paperwork and the two staff that I interacted with. The actual piercing process was very simple and Bill (the piercer) was great with being encouraging and gave me all the information I needed. I felt comfortable in the place and I will definitely be coming back for my tongue piercing.

Had a great experience with Bill! He was very informative and fun to talk to while getting my nipples pierced. He took his time and it will be scary at first but Bill got you. He will walk you through everything plus his eyes are dreamy. Defo recommend.

Ive gone to get a piercing with chris twice now, my cartilage and nose and both times he was absolutely wonderful!! lets you know what’s gonna happen before he pierces you and is overall super reassuring and calming and you’re in the chair. will definitely be going back when i want more piercings!!

TL;DR - Jinx SAVED my nose piercing. Chris was absolutely INCREDIBLE. He listened, let me roll the dice with a hoop (I’d had my piercing for six months), and completely solved a recurring nose bump and mess from a jewelry change at another location near the coast. He was patient and the consummate professional with a great touch, and IMMEDIATELY all of my issues disappeared, and I finally FINALLY have a gorgeously healed piercing, a nose ring with zero issues and owe it all to Chris.Full Version - I went to Jinx after months of problems following a jewelry change from another shop. My initial nose piercing was done in Galloway, NJ and healed beautifully (18g corkscrew stud; just do it, everyone, you can get the hoop later. You really don’t want it moving and catching and all that). Once healed, it was too long - you get pierced with what you need at the time, and yes, once healed and the swelling goes down, you can talk with your piercer. My original piercer was in a tattoo shop that didn’t have jewelry in stock to swap, so I went to an exclusively piercing place north of me. That piercer changed me out to a 20g stud that fell out of my nose not 15 minutes later. I returned and he put another in so tight, it wound up gouging the area around my piercing to the point the stud was cratering and sinking into my nose. I went back TWICE to have it remedied and when he finally put a 20g hoop with ball in, because I needed to heal the area, my nose injury started to heal. Then I got the dreaded bump inside and out and eventually wound up at the dermatologist getting a cortisone injection and antibiotic cream. I was also advised to switch to a more hypoallergenic piece. Now. I was pierced with surgical steel. No problem. The changed jewelry was surgical steel. Nothing but problems. Did you know there are differing quality grades of surgical steel? Neither did I. I ordered titanium, and slipped that in and my nose started to heal, but I hated the C ring. I had to switch to a retainer for a PET scan, and at that point I was so frustrated. It had been months of fighting my piercing, and at one point wondering if I should just take it out and start over (not ever an option with a bump or possible infection, as Chris reminded me). Several places did not have titanium hoops and others wouldn’t touch anything “under the mask.” Enter Jinx and Chris. I found the shop simply through Google knowing I was up north and heading back to the beach and knew Montclair was close to the GSP. And it had amazing reviews and would get me right in. Chris had to essentially re-pierce the area as the bump inside was compromising the piercing and causing an uneven re-heal. He also switched back to 18g and gave me a seamless hoop (my decision). And you know what? Surgical steel. Not titanium. Chris’s decision-making and patience, his understanding and expertise led to a perfect clear up and clean heal within days. I have had zero problems since the switch. No bumps, no pain, no hoop moving all over the place, no anything. He saved my nose, saved the piercing I waited 20 years to get, gave me exactly what I’d hoped for, and charged me very fairly for it all. I can also say - this surgical steel? High grade. No reactions. (I am super sensitive to metal and nickel). I will choose Jinx EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And send anyone there who is looking to get pierced. I can’t thank Chris enough. I am over the moon, and finally stress-free. Hundred percent. This is the place to go.

It was my first time at Jinx. I went to get one of my nipples repierced and I must say this place is great! For anything else it will definitely be a go to. Bill, the piercer, hes awesome. Very nice, patient, and if you have ANY questions at all, he will answer them truthfully and honestly. Thanks Bill for a great experience! My Fiancè and I loved your service! I went in to get an industrial but walked out with a double helix because the anatomy of my ear possibly wouldnt allow the industrial to properly heal. I appreciated the concern. They guy that did my double helix was cool and accurate. Theyre all genuinely nice people there and I will go back one day. :)

Great tattoo shop! Have gone to this shop three times and have loved all my tattoos from here and they have aged well. The guys are great and approachable with any questions or inputs! If you want quality work come here.

Love and respect the work they do here. Friendly staff, but the last few times I have visited, it seems like they do not stick with appointment times. I know things happen, but in this case, communication is key. I had a 1 pm appointment for a custom tattoo, was not seen until 3:20 where he said he had to sketch it even though I went in there in October to set everything up, knowing what I wanted. I know things happen and you can’t drop everything for one customer, but some kind of notice rather than having me sit for 2 hours with no communication would have been appreciated. Last time I went I had a similar problem, which is why I’m posting now. No apology, no notice of how long I had to wait despite my appointment. He even took a walk in at 1 (the time of my appointment).

I came here to get nose stud switched to a hoop, my nose piercing was healed completely as well, and the hoop they provided me with was very cheap. After two days I began to get an irritation bump on both the outside and inside of my nose piercing. The piercer did not tell me what the hoop was made of despite me asking, and when I asked further questions he was very curt. It was my fault to trust his judgement especially with his curtness. Turns out the hoop he sold me was cheap and probably caused me to get an allergic reaction. I ended up going to Power House in Montclair and there they answered all of my questions happily and initially showed me their best jewelry-- not their cheapest. This occurred in March.

I went in here for a nose piercing and the guy was incredibly rude. I get that it’s frustrating when someone flinches but seriously? I’m obviously going to have a reaction when someone is shoving a needle not so very kindly into my nose! Not only that, but the stud they provided me with is incredibly cheap and broke by the third week. For 60$ it’s definitely a scam. I truly hope this place goes out of business.

DO NOT GET YOUR NOSE PIERCED HERE!!!! They use L shaped piercings instead of corkscrew for your first time and it comes out ridiculously easy. Also my piercing went into my nose a couple of times. Find a place where 1. They use corkscrew piercings and 2. They can measure the nose correctly. You’ll save yourself a lot of money.

DO NOT GO! I went there to get a nose piercing for the first time. I’ve used this company in the past for tattoos. Since I didn’t have an issue, I figured a nose piercing would be fine. Boy, was I wrong! Here we are, two/three months into the piercing, and it’s half hanging out my nose. I thought they used screw backs, now I see, they don’t. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO BE GOING THERE FOR THEM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE! MAKE NO SENSE, DISSATISFIED I AM.

I got my belly button pierced today. It was painless, quick and Bill did a great job. I do not pierce or tattoo often (like never) but not for a moment did I fear I was not in good hands. Highly recommend

I called to ask for assistance and the manger told me to push it back up when the skin already heeled over it. The guy who also did my piercing had no idea what he was doing (clearly). I went in for a consultation with an intent of getting my first tattoo. The guy at the front desk seemed a bit impatient. Although he seemed knowledgeable about the subject matter, he didnt seem very passionate. What sealed the deal, was a distasteful joke about how every strong black woman gets the tattoo I was thinking of getting. I definitely went around the corner to Powerhouse where I felt the people were more patient and accommodating.

There as a bystander this time but bill did a great job walking us through the repiercing process. He was very professional and respectful and overall pretty dope as a person. Definitely coming again to get some things done.

Got a nose piercing was great. The only issue is maybe 2 weeks after the appointment the gem in the silver piercing popped out. So not a lot of quality for $65

I went into this shop for the second time trying to set up an appt. The first time I went Bill Harrington was very professional and patient. The second time I went in to set up an appt the young guy with pinkish/purplish hair behind the counter had me waiting 20 mins to try and set up an appt. During this time he claims there was nothing available for every date and time I wanted although the appt book was clear (no names). *disclaimer - not sure how they keep their books. I was ignored and they guy was rude. Maybe I will try again on a Tuesday when he is NOT working.

This shop notch! I’ve been going here for nearly 15 years and have gotten every piercing and tattoo here. They are efficient, clean and eccentric. The staff is phenomenal, you feel right as Home! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for amazing work with astounding people!

Ive had two tattoos and two piercings done at Jinx over the last ten years. I would never go anywhere else. They are professional, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. And their shop, equipment and supplies are pristine.

My husband and I have gotten all our tattos done at Jinx Proof. We love it. My daughters have both gotten ink there as well and just last week, my daughter-in-law got her ears pierced for the first time. They are hygienic and do beautiful work. Most of my tattos were done by Smivey, who only comes to Montclair occasionally.

If you’re looking for a piercing, don’t go here. There’s no jewelry selection and the piercers don’t have the formal training or knowledge you want. Find another place in Montclair! Hint: right around the corner is a WAY better option with a huge selection and knowledgeable staff.

The wait time to get a piercing is ridiculous. I waited an hour an 15 mins. Because the piercer was tattooing. I understand that but you said I’d have to wait a while I assume the max is an hour . The front desk is just unaware he was doing a large back piece. Was the artist even aware that I was waiting ? This is the second time this happen . A piercing takes a few mins and I’m not going to waste my time sitting. Communication is key

So far 2 tattoos with Jay. Great experience both times. Whole staff is polite and will answer any and all questions you may have. Work is impeccable. Worth every penny.

Did a bad job on my earlobe piercing, and even put in jewelry meant for nose rings or something instead of earrings. Do not come here for a piercing please. I want my mf money back.

Lemme tell you how amazing this shop is. I went in there for a tattoo on my ribs of a big beautiful butterfly to represent my Grandmother who passed away 2 years ago. I finally worked up the courage to get tattooed since i have been so afraid for so many years to do so, but I decided it was finally time. My tattoo artist was Eric and lemme tell you he was the nicest boy I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I told him how nervous I was to get tattooed and he made me feel super comfortable and even asked me repeadedly if I was okay and how I was doing. I love Jinx Proof, theyre clean, safe, and all very friendly. I reccomend everyone gets tattooed here.

Receptionist is racist. Apparently the same blonde woman with tattoos mentioned in a prior post. Went in there to possibly get a new tattoo and she had really short patience with me as if she didnt want to be bothered speaking. Aside from being rude, another guy walks in and she then just completely forgets Im even there. Ive had a tattoo here before and the artists are cool, but if they want her to be the face of their business theyll need a prettier neck tattoo that doesnt look like the demon spawn of Jersey.

Before coming to this shop I read the reviews and it seemed like it was a hit or miss when it came to this shop. I went in optimistic and committed to a large/expensive piece on my back. Long story short artist isnt willing to finish tattoo because I move too much. After dishing out over what I was quoted. My tat is still unfinished. He refunded my deposit and suggested I go else where. The only reason why I rated 3 stars is because the work he did the first 2 times was ok.

Ox is the MFing MAN! He did both my husband and I tattoos. We are EXTREMELY SATISFIED... (he should smile more often though 😜😂😁)

He told me I had a bad idea and had to change it (like it was going on his body). No wonder the place was empty. Ill never go back there, save your time if youre looking for friendly service.

Absolutely terrible. not 100% sure who did my tattoo but it was last year. since then i’ve had it covered up. the guy kept talking about how he had to hurry up to go to his grandmas birthday afterwards & extremely unprofessional. he dug so bad into my skin it’s scarred. the new tattoo artist i went to had a hard time even going over it because the people at this shop are horrible.

I’ve gotten quite a few tattoos here. They are very courteous and clean. Always helpful with design and placement. They are the first place I go when it’s time for new ink. I have recommended them to my friends

Came here a while ago at the request of a friend. Both artists seemed miserable. My friend got a small, two inch high tattoo, all black, and all the lines were crooked (done by the artist who said hed been tattooing for years). When I sat to get mine done, the guys gun was spitting ink everywhere (so much he couldnt really see my arm). The lines on mine are all crooked as well and none of the parts that should be symmetrical are the same at all (not a big tattoo either). The guys were both rude, didnt seem to want to be there, and didnt look happy about tattooing us. I would not recommend this shop at all.

The customer service here is indifferent towards me as a customer . It was cavalier to say the least . Arrived for my appointment on time and it was as if I was transparent. The artist had two cigarette breaks outside before we got started . Their work was good but the customer service sucks !

Visited the shop one afternoon to have my faughter’s bise pierced. The tattoo artist that we spoke with appeared irritated and barely made eye contact with us. If you can’t be kind to us when we are seeking information, I wouldn’t be comfortable with you piercing my child’s nose.

I got a really rad tattoo from Eric the other day and I seriously couldnt be more happy about it! The whole experience was great and everyone at the shop was super nice and these dudes are super funny. Ill definitely be going back for more!

Had a small wrist tattoo down of a paw print, partial coverup of a heart. Heart is uneven and blown out as well as blowouts on 3 out of 4 toes. Completely unsatisfied. When i asked him to fix the heart before i left, he told me to not nitpick because its better than what i had. Very unprofessional.

Tattoo came out great. Nice and clean shop. Highly recommend.

Came here on Sunday to get a nose piercing. The place is very clean. Everyone in the shop was super professional. The piercer was nice and patience.

The guy was really chill. He took his time to make sure the piercing was good. He made me and my friends feel really comfortable. 10/10 would go again. 👌🏻👌🏻

Very expensive (but went to 3 different shops in the area and they were all the same price, so thats no big deal) $150 for a very simple plain brown tattoo with no black outline.anyway, the tattoo was drawn very well as it was very simple, and initially I loved it. I showed him the exact color brown that I wanted and he said he can do it. when it was complete it looked perfect and the exact color i wanted for about 2 days after the tattoo. but after that the color is very pale like it has no saturation and and almost a purplish light brown. definitly not the color i wanted.so i went back cause i was getting the same exact tattoo done on the opposite arm. besides the fact that the tattoo needed a MAJOR touch up (blotches of empty spaces) i also asked if he could fix the color, he said well theres not much i can do about that, its just the way brown is so i accepted that answer and he retouched my tattoo and completed the one on the opposite arm.he is wrong, that is not the way brown is. my friend came to visit from albany and he has an amazing looking tattoo with a great color brown in it.so im going to travel to albany to get my tattoos redone. the guy in albany is charging me 100 to 150 for BOTH as opposed to 150 each.now, i never went back for the retouch on the second tattoo (and it needs one big time) the lines arent even straight on this one. and the first tattoo still needs a touch up.i would not recommend jinx, sorry

Got a vertical labret. Chris was SUPER nice. Took his time and walked me through everything. LOVE the final result. Pain was 1/10 (and I have a crazy low pain tolerance).

Got 2 piercings done by Bill !! I was extremely nervous but he was very sweet and didnt rush ! the prices are a little high , but you pay for what you get ! I highly recommend this place !!

Just got tattooed at Jinx Proof and our tattoist Eric did a great job...cant say enough good stuff about jis work.One suggestion though...if you are going to walk in....go early. Or block out time to sit and wait.

Hands down best experience I had I was 15 got my lip piercing done here they let me do it as unlike another shop that was near by that didnt let me do it it was quick and simple the lady was so nice she was funny and really friendly Ill be sure to come here again

When here to get my cartilage pierced. The piercing was done at the wrong angle, and they used cheap jewelry. Do not go here for a piercing.

Awesome and clean place got my 3rd tattoo there went with a picture to add on one of my other tattoo and the artist came back with an imazing art that i just got to have it he was awesome and the price are risible i wont go no where else.
