He made sure I was 100% satisfied before starting the tattoo and made sure I was very comfortable all throughout. I will definitely come back here again.

I recently got a tattoo at Painted Soul Arts and Im absolutely in love with the results. The artist, Joe, was incredibly talented and took the time to understand my vision and make the design as perfect as possible. The shop itself was very clean and welcoming, and the staff was so friendly and professional. I had such a great experience with Jaime and Painted Soul Arts. This was my first tattoo, and they were so patient and involved in the design, prep, and follow-up process. The space is also great - clean, welcoming, and a great vibe for relaxing and embracing the experience. Jaime is beyond talented and I love her work. It’s exactly as we discussed - perhaps even better once brought to life.

My first time here! Danielle saw us and already knew who we were! She was very nice! The waiting couch is so nice and comfortable and the place is clean, sanitary and smells great. Josh was really nice and let us tweak our tattoos and set it up how we wanted. He kept us engaged and asked us about ourselves and thanks to him we got to meet a very friendly and accommodating artist. We will definitely go back again! They do great work and very calming place to get your ink done. Highly recommended!

Came in for a flash tattoo with Josh and it was an amazing first experience! The communications and booking process was very simple yet thorough, so by the appointment time, we got right into the tattoo. The studio is extremely clean and comfy. Everyone was super friendly. Its also in an awesome neighborhood for food, drinks, etc. Will be coming here for my tattoos going forward :)

I had a wonderful experience with Sarah. She worked with me to ensure that the tattoo was exactly what I wanted and then she used her own artistic flair to really perfect it. Her fine lines are beautiful.

I got a cover-up tattoo of a hawk. Luiz was my artist and I am extremely happy with how the tattoo came out. He was super easy to work with and I was very comfortable.

Went to this studio for the second time in June to get a tattoo from Joe. Had a great experience, everyone there is very nice and the artists are incredibly talented, Ive also gotten tattooed by Chelsea as well and had a pleasant experience with her. Lovely studio and I definitely plan on coming back soon :)

I recently came here for my first tattoo, and I am so glad I choose to go with Painted Souls. I was very nervous going in, but all my nerves were quickly relieved. The shop environment is clean, welcoming, and stunning. All of the staff was so kind and comforting from the moment you step through the doors. I booked with Clara after many recommendations, and it was the best decision I could have made. Her talent is truly unbelievable, and on top of that, she was SO kind and easy to talk to. Clara worked with me to make sure I truly loved the design before she started working, and did not make me at any point feel uncomfortable sharing my opinions and feedback! I am BEYOND happy with the results, her fine line skills are beautiful. It is an experience that will stay with me for a long time! Thank you Clara and Painted Souls artists!!

I am leaving a review after two appointments at Painted Soul Arts; one around early 2021 and most recently, April 2024. Both experiences were great!My most recent appointment was with the very talented and friendly, Jaime. I am very happy with Jamies work! Jamie was so easy to work with and very accommodating. Also, the studio is very clean, comfortable, and welcoming. If you are looking for a place to get a first tattoo or a tenth tattoo, I think you will be very satisfied with Painted Soul Arts.

Josh and Painted Soul Arts is the most amazing tattoo parlor. The entire staff is so kind and really work with you to make the experience easy and enjoyable. This is my third tattoo with Josh and I can not to plan my next!

Recently had a piece done there by Joe and the other reviews that commented on the atmosphere and vibe of the place are quite accurate. Comfortable, relaxed and simply put an environment conducive to sitting in one position for a few hours. The staff was friendly, the work areas were very neat and clean and of course the quality of the work was fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others looking to have work done.

I got tattooed by Chelsea at Painted Soul and had an awesome experience. Once I booked with her, we chose a day that would work best for both of us and she was super accommodating. The space is very cool and I was comfortable throughout my appointment. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back to Chelsea sometime soon!

I searched a while for a tattoo place and this one I am glad I chose to go to. I got multiple tattoos here so far that are all very nicely done. The artists were very patient with me on the size and placement I wanted. They were informative on cleaning, aftercare, and healing them too. The only thing is the final cost of the tattoos can get a little pricey.

Great experience! Shop was clean and service was very good. My artist Joe did a great job, clean lines, very friendly. I would recommend and go back again for further work.

I got two smaller tattoos today with Josh. They came out amazing! Exactly how I pictured them. He was great about making sure the drawing of the tattoo and the sizing was all perfect before starting. It was overall a great experience, would definitely go back and would definitely recommend getting a tattoo at Painted Soul and with Josh!!

I went here for two tattoos so far, one was a coverup of an old design, and one was a new tattoo. I worked with Sarah, and she did an incredible job! The designs she came up with are gorgeous, she’s lovely to just hang out and talk with, and she does truly beautiful work. I’ll be back for another soon!

Loved Clara! She was so nice and attentive. As for the studio, it was definitely the cleanest, nicest tattoo studio I’ve been in. Had such a great experience and would definitely recommend.

There’s a lot of places you can go for a tattoo but Painted Soul Arts exceeded my expectations! It was very easy to communicate with them while I was designing my tattoo, and they made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. I searched long and hard to find the right place to get a specific tattoo I wanted. I ended up at Painted Soul Arts in Montclair with Clara as my artist. I had the tattoo done in January with a quick touch up done in June. Both appts were wonderful. The shop is clean and cozy with such great natural light, Clara is so easy to talk to and does beautiful work. Super happy with my experience and Ill be back for my next one soon. Thank you, Clara!

Joe designed 2 tattoos for me to cover up some partially removed tattoos on my upper arm. I asked for designs based on botanicals from a favorite children’s book. He did absolutely beautiful work. Very impressed with his artistry. All around easy booking experience, helpful consultation, and great time at the studio. Highly recommend. I’m coming back for more!

I recently got a one-of-a-kind tattoo from Cinar at Painted Soul Arts and I could not be happier with the tattoo and the experience. From the ease of online booking, the virtual consultation to the day of the actual tattoo every aspect of the experience was so easy and welcoming. I have gotten work done at many classic tattoo studios and I have to say Painted Soul Arts was an elevated experience. I would highly recommend this studio.

Got my first (and second) tattoo at Painted Soul Arts yesterday and the whole experience was amazing. Clara was a wonderful tattoo artist and very polite and very comfortable to work with . I wanted a tattoo that was meaningful to me and impacting in a way. I love science growing up and always wanted to explore the means of the universe so I thought a astronaut in space was the best idea ever.On a personal note the atmosphere was very welcoming and great all around on the inside , very professional and chilling vibe. I love the oil and acrylic painting along the walls and sounded music background . They do take walk ins but I would recommend booking a appointment ahead of time as it saves time and money but also gives the tattoo artists time to collect on themselves and to work on your tattoo accordingly to what you truely want . I will go again in the future to see Clara . Thank you so much .

Josh is amazing. This is my 2nd time being tattooed by Josh and each time he has far exceeded my expectations with his designs and execution. Josh (and the entire Painted Soul Arts staff) are super welcoming, professional, and accommodating. I have been tattooed in many different studios, but this is by far the best I’ve been in. I already have plans to get another Josh creation very soon!

I got my first tattoo yesterday at Painted Soul and it was a great experience! Louiz was so patient with me when it came to the final design, sizing and placement of the tattoo. Louiz had such a positive attitude assuring I will love the final product and I do! Everyone at Painted Soul was super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend if you are looking to tat yourself :)

I am not at all surprised that Painted Souls has all 5 star ratings. Ive gone there for two pieces and it is by far the best place Ive had work done, hands down. The shop itself is artsy, open and welcoming. Its immaculate, extremely professional, with a very comfortable atmosphere. My first piece from there was done by Krista. All dot work, and I get compliments on it constantly. Krista is friendly, accommodating, and so talented. Cinar, one of the owners did my second piece, an original Taurus constellation/bull which I had described slightly over our Zoom meet, and gave him the artistic freedom to create it. I absolutely love it. He helped me decide the best placement and size and his expertise was apparent throughout the entire process. I felt comfortable the entire time and knew I was in extremely capable hands. I cant wait until my tattoo is healed and I can show it off even more!! My husband also has two pieces from Painted Souls, and we will definitely be back for more! All of the artists are brilliant, and the energy and personality of each of them makes for a great tattooing experience.

I received a shoulder tattoo from Jaime and she was fantastic. She took time to make sure the stencil was exactly the way I wanted. It was a 3hr session and I ended up getting light headed towards the end (MY fault NOT the artist) & she took the care and time to make sure I was stable! I left with a gorgeous and finished tattoo. I highly recommend her as an artist!This shop is always clean, warm, and very inviting. I have received tattoos in the past two other artists (Chelsea & Clara) and everyone has been great!I want to acknowledge that you are paying for what you get here. This is a top tier studio, and the prices reflect the artists time and talent. If you want a high quality, clean, studio and professional staff then this is your place!!

Painted Soul Arts is a beautiful, inviting shop! Loved that they showcase local artists work for sale. Everyone was extremely friendly. Josh did my tattoo and is a fantastic artist. I scheduled online and we had a virtual meeting prior to the actually tattoo appointment. Josh was very attentive to detail and created an amazing piece of artwork on my forearm.

I’ve had two tattoos done here now by Josh, once as an apprentice and again as a resident artist. I love the styles the artists in this shop put out! It’s also clean, quiet, covid-safe, and relaxing. Being a person with a disability, I was worried about my positioning. Josh took full care to make sure I was comfortable and adjusted his position so I wouldn’t bend or lay in a way I’m unable to. I appreciate that so much, I’ve had many tattoos at different studios and few are willing to work with my disability because “you look fine, it shouldn’t be hard for you”. It’s super frustrating finding an accommodating shop so I’m thrilled with Painted Soul Arts. Definitely will be a repeat customer for years to come!!

I’m convinced this place only employs the most talented and professional artists. I have gotten multiple tattoos here over multiple sessions from two different artists and each experience was amazing. The shop is impeccably clean and provides a very comfortable atmosphere. Every artist is friendly and takes a great deal of pride in their work. My most recent tattoo was with Josh and he was wonderful. He really took the time to make sure everything was perfect and made sure I was comfortable with positioning. I plan on getting many more pieces done by him and I definitely look forward to coming back. It’s 100% worth the two hour round trip I make each time. I highly, highly recommend this place.

I cannot recommend Painted Soul Arts enough.My artist was Emma, but I was honestly really impressed with all the work from each artist (but seriously, Emmas stuff is extraordinary).I approached Emma with a specific concept, but only a rough overall idea of what the execution would look like.After a Zoom consult, I told her to just go nuts and follow her instincts.The finished piece captured the essence of what I wanted so perfectly, I was honestly emotional when it was done. The attention to detail on the owl, the colors, the moon - just perfect.While certainly not painless (because: tattoos) the staff made the process pleasant with good conversation, breaks and just a generally wonderful atmosphere.I will say insofar as pain and tats: I have pretty decent pain tolerance - but I found Emmas touch to be light and she definitely seemed to be able to adjust to how I was reacting.Also the music selection kicked all kinds of butt.The shop was crystal clean, they are still following COVID protocols so you know they care about the health and safety of their customers - even with other artists working, I felt comfortable the whole time.Not gonna lie, already thinking about what to get next.Highest of recommends.

I was very nervous to get my first tattoo, but wanted to get one with meaning to it. I researched places and came across Painted Soul Arts. I was extremely impressed by all of the artists work, but Joshs work stood out to me, as I wanted a very minimalistic and fine-line tattoo. He did a fantastic job! I now have 3 tattoos done by him. I would recommend this place to everyone; they get back to you in a timely manner and everyone there is so nice and welcoming. Had my second tattoo done with Joe Wong at Painted Soul Arts. The first one (my first ever) was small and done very well. This current one is a little more ambitious - a cat paw print with a red cat scratch in the middle. The paw print is done very well, as usual. The cat scratch is fantastic - he made it look exactly like a cat scratched my arm, to the point that people have been asking if its a wound.

I have numerous tattoos but Ive never been so pleased with any artist as I have been with Cinar and frankly wish that all my tattoos were by him. I found him on Instagram and loved his sketch style and thought it would be perfect for a tattoo of a ghost nun I wanted. When I met him and explained how I wanted it to be eerie and dark but not cheesy, he absolutely got it. He came up with three different designs for me to choose from and then executed the one I chose to perfection. I loved it so much it ended up becoming a sleeve that is now so dear to my heart and feels like part of my soul. He was so nice to collaborate with throughout the design process, has a really special style and truly creative and unique designs, and also his actual tattooing skills are impeccable. He has a really steady and light hand and all of my tattoos by him have healed beautifully and are crisp, with no scar tissue or anything of the sort. Ive never had an artist capture my vision so well and then expand on it beyond what I could have imagined. I recommend Cinar for any tattoo but especially if you are interested in something haunting and with a dark theme his style is incredible for it, Ive seen this also in work hes done on my best friend. His wife, Emma, at the studio, is also an incredibly talented artist and Ive been impressed by her paintings and tattoo pieces anytime I have gone in.

My husband daughter and I got a tattoo of our cat Wally- who sadly died a few weeks ago- at Painted Soul and what a wonderful family outing it was! Our tattoos came out fabulously, the environment there is so chill and everyone who dealt with was charming. I know this sounds like an over the top review but it really reflects how we felt about our experience. And now we have our tattoos to remind us of the day everyday. 🙂 Looking forward to returning for our next one.

I’ve gotten all of my tattoos here by three different artists. I love coming here for my tattoos and will most definitely be coming back every time I want one. Everyone is super nice and they care about their tattoos. I just came here yesterday for a flash event with Chelsea. She saw the other tattoo that she had done from a different flash event and said she would touch it up for me since I was there already without me asking, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend for anyone to come here as all of their artists are very talented! :)

This tattoo shop is incredible!! All the artists truly have the most beautiful art portfolios. I had the pleasure of having Josh as my artist. He was very professional, thorough, and kind. He makes a great effort to ensure you are satisfied with the illustration, stencil placement, and final product. This could not have been a better first tattoo experience!

I had an amazing experience with Emma at Painted Soul Arts. Her creativity is simply mindblowing, and she made me feel incredibly comfortable during my appointment. Had to lower my rating. Tattoo work on my sleeve from 2020 was stellar, but when I inquired this year about completing my sleeve that was 3/4 finished, Cinar seemed uninterested and advised me that he no longer wants to tattoo in the same style, which was realistic. He stopped responding to emails. Not very professional

I was blown away by this experience. I would absolutely see Gionna again for more ink. The shop itself is very clean and comfortable, and I appreciated that she put up a partition so I had more privacy. Gionna was the best possible artist for the piece I just had done- not only for her mastery and artistry, but how comfortable she made me feel. I knew I was in the best hands. Painted Souls is such a vibe and a great place to get a tattoo. Parking is super easy, which is not always the case in Montclair. The studio is super clean, and has a very calming vibe with their art and plants decorating the space. Their staff is very kind, and communication leading up to the appointment was seamless. Joe was such a pleasure to work with, he had a great attention to detail, and was overall very kind and attentive. I went to Painted Soul Arts for my 3rd tattoo and it was my first time ever using this company. Upon walking into the shop I felt at ease. The atmosphere is comforting to someone who doesnt get tattoos often and becomes overwhelmed easily. Joe was extremely friendly and flexible with the design I had requested. During the entire tattoo Joe talked with me and was super comforting. I will definitely be returning for another tattoo.

Got my first ever tattoo here, and it was a great experience start to finish. I worked with Kris and she was amazing. The intake/scheduling process was easy and efficient, and I appreciated the Zoom consultation with Kris ahead of booking the apointment. At my appointment, Kris was thorough and patient with me, wanting to make sure that I was certain about my tattoo choice before going ahead with it. She even said I do not need to go forward with the tattoo at all, which I appreciated. The tattoo itself came out exactly as I had envisioned. The studio is super clean and also just a really cool space. 10/10 recommend!!

This shop is a gem. Josh is doing my sleeve, different concept, b/w microrealism, and it’s coming out incredible. This is a sensitive project to me and I’m truly impressed with the results thus far. Josh has the eye, trust in that.Depending on your style, just go with the right artist there for your piece. Every thing I’ve seen there is absolutely top notch, feels like everybody leaving there with a piece of unique art rather than some ink. The collective portfolio of the shop speaks for itself, hard to find a shop anywhere that really compares to it in terms of results, comfort, and value.

The space is inviting, clean and comfortable, and Krista was great to work with. She was accomodating and reassuring, and the perfect blend of friendly and professional. My tattoo is still healing, but so far, Im very happy with her work. I would definitely work with her again.

Painted Souls is the best. After relentlessly searching over 10 tattoo parlors with countless artists, I landed on Painted Souls. I have nothing but great things to say. The staff is so warm and kind. It is very clean and has a super cool welcoming vibe. The music selection is great. I also highly recommend Jackie. She did my tattoo and my touch up. Painted Soul Arts is clean and bright. Extremely easy to communicate with the studio. I was able to book an appointment within a week for a wrist tattoo. Kris was amazing to work with! I am so pleased with the ornamental sun tattoo she designed for me. Her lines are precise and clean. She did not rush the process and made adjustments until I was sure I was comfortable with the design and placement. Kris is an awesome tattoo artist who will collaborate with you. They offer one free touch up within 6 months. Entire experience at Painted Soul Arts was top notch.

I came to Painted Souls for my first tattoo. Gionna, the artist who did my tattoo was amazing. She made me feel comfortable about the experience, but also managed my expectations so that I didnt go into it expecting a pain-free tattoo just because I wanted it on my leg. The design of my tattoo was exactly how I envisioned it in my head and she asked me lots of questions as she was tattooing me just to check in to see if I was alright. I took the saniderm off of my tattoo a couple days ago and have been washing it twice a day and its already healing great. The shop is super welcoming and all of the staff are really pleasant. I would totally recommend Painted Souls!

A beautiful, immaculate studio with super talented artists. Staff is friendly and patient, encouraging you to make sure you are comfortable with the placement of your tattoo whereas other places can sometimes make you feel rushed or like you have to settle. Its a permanent marking, you should be 100% happy! My artist also thoroughly went over aftercare to make sure it heals properly. I cant recommend enough! I will absolutely be back for more!

Ive had two excellent visits to Painted Soul Arts this year. The shop is extremely clean and calm! Chelsea makes the whole tattooing process super comfortable, and I really love her work. Ill definitely be back, and have recommended this studio at least a dozen times so far.

First of all, the location is beautiful and the atmosphere is very calming. I felt very comfortable coming in as someone who is new to tattoos. I have gotten tattoos done by both Chelsea and Josh and they are both so nice and accommodating, not to mention talented! I am in love with my tattoos and I will definitely be coming back for more!

I think this is how tattoo shops were always supposed to work and we just didn’t realize it -The staff is above and beyond friendly, helpful, and thorough. From booking to follow-up, the process is clear and organized. The artists and apprentices are incredibly talented, thoughtful, and place a great deal of time and effort on perfecting art and customer experience. Tattooing is cathartic and therapeutic (for me but I think for both clients and artists) and this shop understands and fosters that. I don’t want to ever go anywhere else.I have worked with Krista and would recommend her to anyone, but especially for her dot work. I hope to work with other artists as well, which is amazing as the artists seem to support each other in this. Erin, staff is excellent. You can ask questions! The owner is multitalented in the arts, a true renaissance person. Overall the environment is warm and caring. I’ve experienced this with artists before, but never a whole shop.

I would definitely recommend Painted Soul to anyone looking for a tattoo!! It was recommended to me by a friend and I’m so glad I decided to check it out for my first tattoo. My artist Clara was so welcoming and professional, she took the time to talk to me about my design and placement of the tattoo. I wanted it on my ribs which I knew could be a painful spot but Clara worked with me by giving me some breaks here and there and made it an overall pretty painless and enjoyable experience. I love my tattoo and will definitely go back when I decide on my next one!

I went to get a tattoo by Josh yesterday. He was such a kind and fun guy to talk to and made the process very pleasant. He tattooed a dot-work rose from his flash sheet and I can’t wait to get more designs from him in the future! His years of experience were on full display. He had several options for me to choose and once selected he made perfect placement of the design. He wasted no time in completing a stunning work of art that I can proudly wear for the rest of my life. He was super nice to work with. Everyone in the shop is nice, friendly and accommodating. My wife got a tattoo as well by Krista which made for a nice experience. In fact Krista had done the same tattoo for me, so it was nice to have her see it along with photos of both sides by side. Like my wife said, the atmosphere has such a welcoming, friendly vibe that has us planning to come back again as well as recommend to others. Im so happy that I came across this place. When researching designs for my first tattoo, I was excited to find Emma. I was looking for an abstract design and loved her work. I did have to wait a few months to book, but once I did, the process was all online and easy. I came from out of town and had no trouble finding a place to stay nearby or with transportation. Their shop is in a great walkable area with good restaurants, etc. The appointment went wonderfully. Emma was very professional, helped me decide on the design placement and size, and totally put me at ease. The studio is clean and private. The entire process was much faster and easier than I anticipated. The design turned out beautifully. Emma thoroughly explained aftercare and gave special consideration that I was traveling/out of town. I definitely recommend painted soul arts and would return for additional work.

This was the best (of many) experiences I’ve had in such a place. The shop is clean and beautiful. The artists all seemed down to earth and gave a sense of professionalism. My work was done by Chelsea…she adjusted the design perfectly, enhancing the image while keeping 100% true to the essence of what I wanted. It came out far far better than I envisioned. She was great!!! Books seem to fill up fast so if you are going to act do so quickly. If you have to wait, wait…it will be worth it.

The place has such a great vibe , the opposite of what I was expecting in a tattoo shop. The location is really fun because it is close to Main Street in Montclair, the shop is clean and organized, and very comfortable. I had a two great experiences. one with jackie catania for a small butterfly tattoo on my forearm and she was very pleasant to work with & very attentive to detail in the tattoo. I also was lucky enough to get to have emma grace for a decent sized lion with flowers on my shoulder/upper arm. not only did she listen to everything i was saying to help me bring my vision to life, in a way i never could, the lion & stunning flowers surpassed my expectations. from the initial meeting to the 5.5 hour session she was great. i would highly recommend!!

Cinar and Emma are my favorite tattoo artists around. The studio itself is filled with amazing art and feels just as much of an art gallery as a tattoo shop. Cinar has done such an amazing job of understanding what I wanted for my tattoos. Each time I have gotten a tattoo, Cinar has given me multiple hand made designs from which it was hard to pick because they were all exactly what I wanted. I am excited to have him finish my forearm sleeve and I would love to get all my tattoos from this shop.

I had an idea of what I wanted my next tattoo to be (abstract, linear and black) and after doing some homework with respect to artists I came upon Çinar at Painted Soul Arts. I was super happy to find out he was in New Jersey (my home State) as I have traveled across the globe to get tattooed by some well known names. From start to finish, I could not be happier. I requested an appointment online, the process of which, was seamless. I received a message within 48 hrs and a link to schedule my consultation. Upon entering the studio I was truly impressed. A beautiful and open space, with equally as beautiful art hanging gracefully on the walls. After speaking with Çinar for a few minutes I knew I was in good hands. I was given the opportunity to either book my appointment right then and there or use their online system. I booked immediately and left a deposit via credit card (which is a plus as many studios are cash only). I arrived at the studio for my appointment a few days later, with Çinar showing me his interpretation of my thoughts. It was beautiful. I couldnt wait to get started. After preparing the area he began his magic...and I truly mean magic. A few hours later, I could not be happier with my tattoo. It is beyond what I could have imagined. The artistry is incredible. After a few photos, a protective patch was applied and aftercare instructions given. Side note: Emma was also doing a tattoo on a gentlemans arm whilst I was getting tattooed. I tried not to be nosey but I couldnt help but notice how beautiful the design was. The detail of the tattoo was truly impressive. The artists at Painted Soul Arts are incredible. I cannot recommend them and Painted Soul Arts enough. Thank you so very much for the incredible piece of art that now adorns my right arm. I will be daydreaming about my next piece for days to come, as I would love the opportunity to have Çinar do a second tattoo.

After months of searching for a tattoo artist, I landed on Emma. Could not be happier with my decision. I came in with a picture, an idea in my head and Emma made it all come to life. She made sure that I was satisfied with the design, the placement, and etc. I came with the idea of getting mountains, with a minimal theme and some light shading. Emma made it a reality, and an hour later I was out and about. Would recommend anyone here, their work is an art.

I went in for a small, fine lined tattoo and love how it came out. Josh was super friendly, and made me feel at ease. I had to go back for a quick touch up, and that was handled seamlessly.
