Love to get tattooed by JP. Every detail is always accounted for. Always changing into fresh gloves, sanitizing surfaces, and even labels his sharpies so they are used ONLY on the person being tattooed. Always good conversation and makes the whole experience fun. Would absolutely recommend him time and time again.

Amazing experience! Everyone is super friendly and professional. Started working on a tailor made suit with JP last year and every session has been a good time! His creativity is out of this world! Very pleased with the work 👍🏼

The last day of my vacation in NY I decided to get a tattoo. I only had $ 100 and nowhere I wanted to do the job for less than 150.I went to this place and a great guy decided to do it.The truth has been one of the best experiences I have had abroad and this man made my trip close with a flourish. thanks for doing it 👏🏻💜

JP is, first and foremost, an amazing human being.  And if youre going to have someone put permanent art on your body/canvas it should be an amazing human being.  I came to JP with a complex request, father and son tattoos of brook trout that we caught in the Smoky Mountains and then had a wonderful fish artist, Andrea Larko, turn into a stylized piece of art.  So many tattoo artists simply wont even talk to you if you want to work with art that is not their own.  But JP really wanted to know our story, know us and loved the art.  Working with JP over multiple sessions was a truly wonderful experience.  Of course his studio feels like a cross between a gallery, cozy living room and super cool club and the tattooing itself was beyond perfect; but as I said above it was the conversation, shared experience and time together with JP that really made it so special and unique for my son and me.  We will be back sharing time with JP again soon Im sure!

I worked with JP Rodrigues. Friendly, great conversation, relaxed vibes in the shop. Very inviting and made me feel a part of the shop. He worked around the shoulder and owl tattoo that other artists did (shown in the pictures) effortlessly. Could not recommend Acqua Santa enough.

One of the best artists in NYC and a consummate professional, JP takes genuine joy in the process of designing and applying artwork to the human body. Fantastic - I had 6 sessions with JP Rodrigues working on a large freehand cover-up dragon tattoo that I absolutely love. The atmosphere and professionalism are top notch, and the artistry is masterful. The other artists here are also excellent. I highly recommend them to family, friends, everyone!

I’ve been wanting a tattoo for a while now, so on a whim I decided to get it on my trip to NYC. After cruising through the Chelsea Market, I did a quick search and found Acqua Santa. Upon entering I knew I was exactly where I should be. There were 2 French Bulldogs (we have one back home in Seattle) and they were playing Pearl Jam. It was all perfect. Where do I begin?!?!? Acqua Santa Studios is a second home for the tattoo community . The studio is very cozy, and the artists there are phenomenal. The portfolios of each artist and the artwork is certainly unparalleled. JP is the MAN! - hands down the best artist Ive been too! I went in there with an idea, and Im glad he was able to bring the entire thought into reality. My tattoo is so good - Im crazy enough to sign up for more pain and work on another sleeve in the near future!

JP has been tattooing me for seven years, and I’d never trust anyone else’s work. JP has done 99.9% of my tattoos and he’s never disappointed. My traditional style tattoos are not his specialty but he has mastered everything I’ve asked him to do. I’ve saved my entire back for JP to create his Japanese style masterpiece. The Aqua Santa tattoo shop is an experience in its own, from the authentic art work covering the walls to the unique one of a kind tattoo artists who always make me feel at home.

Most painful tattoo ever but I love the fact Mario was patient with me not being able to sit through it. Cant wait to come back to finish it

I rode into NYC on a cross-country motorcycle trip, and knew that I wanted to get a tattoo, but was only going to be in town for a day.Fabio (Terra Xim) at Acqua Santa agreed to get me in for an appointment that day, on short notice. The results were amazing.The shop is super clean, well-decorated, and professional looking. Its small, but its bursting with tons of personality and you can tell that the folks that work here are true artists.The way the shop is hidden, its like finding an awesome secret.I explained a custom design idea to Fabio and he completely threw himself behind it, coming up with a couple of sketches and being open to giving me advice based on his own artistic sense. In the end, I totally put my trust in him and he created something awesome. I ended up getting a tattoo much bigger than what I originally intended because I loved the design and how it fit on my body.He also gave me excellent advice on after-care.It was an incredible experience and Id get another tattoo in NYC just for an excuse to visit Acqua Santa again. I had come to JP for advice many times before starting our sessions as I wasn’t sure what I wanted and if I wanted a tattoo; I went for a full wrist tattoo we ended doing whole arm and chest 7 sessions later. He made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I trust in all his suggestion and advice. He is extremely professional and a master at his craft. I came in for my first tattoo with Mario, got talked into moving the tattoo to better fit my body and am incredibly happy with the result. I was in a lot of pain because of the location but he talked to me throughout, looked out for me and made sure I took breaks as needed, and in general tried to both mitigate the discomfort and give me the best tattoo possible. We even went over the quoted time and he waived the extra charge that I by all rights shouldve paid. Cant recommend enough, will definitely be coming back

The shop is clean and the vibe is truly amazing. I love how the tattoo artist welcomes you like it is your home and family. Fabio is a talented artist. I brought him the idea for my tattoo and in the end I was truly happy how he turned my idea into something beautiful. This shop has good talented artists and Ill be happy to be back for my next.

At 70, I decided to get a tattoo. It’s probably a bucket list thing. I went to Acqua Santa Tattoo and had a wonderful experience. It’s a lovely place. Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. Kristina helped me when I came in and couldn’t have been nicer. Andre was the artist I used and he was awesome. He did a beautiful job. I would recommend it very highly. You’ll feel right at home.

I randomly walked into this shop a few weeks ago to get a bad tattoo I got somewhere else fixed. Mario was my artist and he was able to create a really cool design and have me tatted within the hour. His technique and line work was so much better than my previous tat. Also really liked the Saniderm clear wrap they use for aftercare, it stays on for days and helped my tattoo heal very nicely. They charge by the hour ($250) which might be a bit pricey to some but the superb job they do speaks for itself. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to check them out. Ask for Mario, he’s funny and his work is dope!

Aqua Santa is a small tattoo shop, its extremely welcoming clean, and very professional. The atmosphere is filled with exquisite art, tattoo painting, and outstanding decor. Ive met with Joao Paulo, and discussed on the type of tattoo I wanted, color options, and the best location on the body would look best. I was absolutely impressed by his amazing work, the level of creativity and patients shows in his work. I am amazed and satisfied with his work, that I am proudly to wear his artwork for a lifetime . I highly recommend Joao Paulo is an extraordinary!

JP is a great guy. He’s lots of fun to work with. You can give him a concept and he will turn it into a reality- many times exceeding your own imagination. Love working with him and love going to this shop!

Went here to get my first tattoo, couldnt have gone any better if I wanted it to. Mario was my artist and he was amazing the whole time. And Chris at the front desk was exceptional as well. JP Rodrigues has worked on me for more than four years - I cant recommend him highly enough. Not only is he a talented and skilled tattoo artist but he is also a collaborator. Before we begin a tattoo project we talk to each other and listen to each other - we exchange ideas and images and come up with a design that satisfies us both. This kind of back-and-forth is tremendously important to me and, I think, to him. The process results in beautiful tattoo work which Im immensely proud to wear on my body. Thank you JP!

Although I have a family Jp and Mario and my friend Daniel we became extended family. Great caring people not only for me but the art the environment the neighborhood and the planet. JP and the Acqua Santa team are the best in NY. I met him almost 10 years ago now and immediately became part of the AS family. I’ve done both arms and both legs and plan to keep going til there is no room left. If you’re ever in Chelsea stop by and say hi. First time going there and I went specifically for an artist that will only be here for about a month, but I loved the space and the staff! They were all so nice and friendly. I don’t Know what people think about when they go get tattooed, whether it’s what should I get? or “I want this exact picture”. I tend to think most people think too much about it. I’m not a tattooist so I don’t think about it I let the tattoo artist do their job. I had all my thought out tattoos covered up by JP Rodrigues. I met him 13 years ago I wanted a full sleeve on my arm instead I got a body suit in progress(all my fault it’s not finished yet), and a lifelong brother. JP decides my tattoos and I enjoy that, he is the artist and your getting the only copy of his art work and it’s on you forever and no replicas. So go get a tattooLet the artist give you an original, go to the best for overall experience, ACQUA SANTA.

Seemed a little sketch, my sister almost got charged double due to a miscommunication. And her tat is not the greatest ever. But I saw a piece one of the artists was working on and it looked great. I guess it just depends on how chill of a vibe you are looking for. Also theres not a lot of space to sit down. Idk, not the worst, but not the best.

Absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever had. They lie and don’t tell you policies to steal your money and then overcharge the hell out of you. No respect to customers at all and don’t value your business what so ever. Had to contact my lawyer to get money back that was stolen from my account from these people.
