Dave is amazing! I got my belly button pierced and he did a great job! I’m bad with needles and blood but the piercing went amazingly and was very helpful afterwards!! Definitely will be coming back again

I got my cartilage pierced and my friend got her second holes. Dave, the owner who’s had the shop for 34 years, was so great. He knew exactly what to do and told us how to take care of our piercings. Not too bad $ wise either. The whole experience was a 10/10. Totally recommend.

I’ve gotten 2 piercings there, my belly button and nose, and both turned out great! I had amazing experiences both times and I highly recommend going. Prices are great and everyone is very nice and knowledgeable!! Won’t be going anywhere else for piercings!

I got my first tattoo here yesterday, and 1.) I’m SO stoked, and 2.) It was a really great first experience! Everyone at the shop was very informative and friendly — when I showed Cierra what I initially wanted, she very politely told me my design would have to be an appointment as opposed to a walk-in, which I really appreciated and am grateful for her advice. Dave was very professional when my friend & siblings got their piercings (my friend kept mentioning how sweet he was on the ride home.) I got my tattoo done by Dymytry, and he was very kind! He kept checking on me to make sure I was alright, we held a very pleasant conversation, and I’m so, so, SO happy with my first tattoo. Literally nothing could ruin my mood as I left the store! I really would recommend this place, especially for someone like me who wanted their first but didn’t know much of the logistics.

Hi, 5 years ago I came to American Art because of the great reviews. Dmytry made up a crab tattoo with my daughter’s names. It was a work of art to say the least. Fast forward to 2024 and I’m about to get my 21st tattoo here at American Art. Dmytry is a professional and takes pride in his work as does tattoo artist Ciara, Sidney and owner Dave who mostly handles the piercings. I highly recommend American Art Tattoo. The studio is clean and they’ve been in business since 1990 which says something..

Love this place! I did a lot of research before choosing where to get my cartilage pierced, and American Art Tattoo by far had the best reviews. I got my cartilage pierced with my friend (she got her naval pierced), and the process was made super easy here! Both piercings looked amazing and were mostly painless (all piercing hurt a bit). Our piercer was super welcoming and VERY cleanly with his sterilization process! Will 100% come here again, and I recommend it to anyone who is considering getting any type of piercing service!

I love American art tattoo. I came here a few months ago for double nose piercings and Dave did an amazing Job. I came back for my first tattoo and had a great experience. Dymytry did an amazing job walking me through the process which made me feel a lot better about getting the tattoo. Definitely a welcoming environment every time that I come.

This is a nice place and Id definitely recommend visiting if youre looking to get something pierced. I stopped by to get my naval pierced and it was really quick and easy, really nice staff, and relatively painless. The prices are definitely affordable and Ill hopefully be coming back for more in the future!

I have been there twice in one month! First was early July and I got a piercing. The owner did it. Hes an awesome guy and it was quick which probably contributed to the minimal amount of pain. Dave (owner) is awesome, next time I came in for a neck tattoo that was done by Dymytry. Dave had iggy pop pulled up on the computer for a good laugh and some music. Dymytry is super talented and light handed, I literally almost drifted off from my neck tattoo. it tickled lol. Seriously awesome tattoo artist very talented, my tat is healing beautifully and I love the lettering, its exactly what I wanted. You can definitely expect the cleanest and most pristine, warm and welcoming environment if you choose American Art. I will be back for sure!

I got my nose pierced here and had an excellent experience! Dave was very nice and efficient. He made the experience as painless as possible. The prices are also very reasonable. Definitely go here for your piercings!

*Piercing Review*Dave is very professional and an overall great guy. I started feeling very sick after my piercing, (through no fault of his) and he knew what to do right away. Came here a couple months ago for a navel piercing and had a friend get an helix piercing. Have had no problem with the healing process. The place was neat and piercings were painless and quick. Would come back to get more piercings done.

I saw Dymytry, it was my first tattoo and I was pretty nervous because it definitely wasn’t going to be an easy one. After looking through his portfolio I was very confident he could do a great job. Not only did he do an amazing job but he really went above and beyond by crafting his own design, and with the detail itself in the tattoo. I would highly recommend him. There should be a 6 star option because he really deserves it. (And this isn’t even the finished product!!!)

Dave was the best. Was on time and accommodating even with our last minute appointment. I got 2 more ear piercings and my second nose hole. Wife got her first nose hole and another set of ear lobe piercings. He took care of us. Was particular about placement and if we were satisfied. They definitely gained 2 new clients and I definitely recommend them.

Literally the sweetest people to talk to. Ive gone here several times and each time has me leaving very happy & satisfied with their work. I went to get my nipples pierced at American tattoo! Dave did a GREAT job at making me feel comfortable and at ease. It was something I had been wanting to do for a long time, and I’m so glad I finally did it with American tattoo! Shop was very clean, and very professional. I got my nose pierced from here a year ago and it had healed great. My body is normally very sensitive to jewelry but I never had any issues with this piercing. Im currently on a weight-loss journey and once I reach my first milestone Im booking an appointment to get my nipples pierced. I have three weight-loss milestones total which will reward me with a tattoo and my bellybutton pierced, all of which I plan on using this studio for them. Cant wait to book my appointment after I reach my first milestone 💖

I normally do not do reviews but I had to for this one. I live in NJ and it was difficult to get an appointment for a nose piercing due to COVID. A lot of places either didn’t do it or they were booked for a month. We called All American Tattoo and they were so accommodating. Dave did our piercing and he was very quick. It did NOT hurt not one bit!!! I would definitely recommend this place!! The drive was so worth it!!

Dave (owner) was very professional throughout the entire process--from my initial inquiry phone call to the actual nose piecing. Hurt for the first few seconds, but then it was smooth sailing after that...and Im a big baby when it comes to needles! His clean shop made me feel comfortable, especially considering we are fighting a pandemic. I have already recommended him to my best friend.

After searching for the right place to get my first tattoo I found American art. Very welcoming and relaxed environment. I went Saturday and meant Dimitri, I told him what I wanted, made an appointment for today and he was able to come up with the exact design I wanted. I absolutely love my tattoo..he did an amazing job, extremely talented and am already wanting another one done by him! The owner, Dave, pierced my Tragus and I am definitely getting all of my piercings moving forward from him! My 3 friends and I came in toward the end of the day and David kindly squeezed us all in before ending walk-ins for the day. My friend nearly passed out and he was so professional about it- gave her chocolate frosting and water until she was better. Our piercings look great, really nice guy. Since moving to this area ive been searching high and low for a trustworthy place to get piercings. I honestly started to think Id have to make trips to NJ to go my usual place because i couldnt find anywhere that looked clean from the outside, and im a firm believer on representation and first impressions. If you dont care about how your company looks on the outside how can I trust that you care about your work you know? I drove by American Art Tattoo a handful of times and went on their website many times because the outside looked much more well-kept than other places ive found and Dave promotes sterilization on his website. I dont know why it took me so long to come to this establishment! 6/15 i walked in around 4pm and got a double helix & a conch piercing by Dave. I have nothing but great things to say. He was really nice and everything looked clean. All piercings were indivdally wrapped, etc. He wasnt sure at first if he could pierce my conch on my left ear because of my daith but i flipped my daith up and he was able to get it. I really appreciated the honesty right off the bat that the conch on the left ear may not be possible, but super glad it was! Definitely better than a piercer just doing it and having trouble. I was hoping for 2 hoops for both helix and a hoop for the conch but he told me the upper helix hoop wouldve been tight (because he used a tool to measured my ear where i wanted it place) and a hoop on a new conch wouldve been uncomfortable to lay on so i went with a stud for both and a hoop on the lower helix. Dave said he could do 2 hoops for both helix but one wouldnt be where i wanted it so a stud was fine with me. He marked the spots on my ears as piercers do, and when I asked for different placements of the double helix he had no problem remarking them and made sure i liked the placings (which i felt bad for asking to adjust). After each piercing he checked & double checked & checked again that i was okay and feeling alright & offered to wait a few minutes after the two helix and before the conch. I was nervous about the pain of the conch and asked Dave if it hurt more than a daith and he was 100% right when he said the daith hurts more and he let my boyfriend stay in the room too (very happy about because i needed a hand to hold haha) Dave gave me a q tip to use incase i bled on my way home, which i did but i expected to from the conch. Only thing i would do differently time, and its 100% on me not on Dave, is eat and drink more beforehand. The room also had a sign that said to let them know if you hadnt ate/drank, so thats on me. I had a small snack so i figured id be fine, and i was fine, but i probably will eat and definitely drink more water before my next piercing(s). The prices were good too, not too expensive. Cant wait for these 3 to heal so i can come back and get more

David was a super nice guy! Got my first ever piercing done (both ear lobes) and he was great at explaining the healing process and instructions for proper care! When it comes to stuff like this, you gotta go with a professional with 31 years in the business!

I got my industrial piercing done here a while ago and my daith piercing done just this week. Both piercings were great!The shop is very clean, everything is sterile, the prices are very reasonable, and Dave is excellent. Hes very patient and didnt make me feel bad at all when I got nervous half way through the piercing.

I came here today to get my first nose piercing! I am very pleased with the results. I didn’t know what to expect, but he was able to walk me through the process and understand the steps he was taking throughout the piercing. Super reasonable cost! Highly recommend.

Let me just tell you how thrilled I am with David Scott and American Tattoo. I took my daughter to get an industrial piercing about a week ago. My daughter had minimal swelling and pain afterwards. She is absolutely thrilled with her piercing. David Scott was awesome and I will be going back there. The business is clean and everyone there was so awesome to talk to. 10 outta 10 😎

I got my belly button pierced and the first red flag was the fact that the man who did it for me had me sitting down instead of laying or standing. Then he made the little marks and didn’t even ask me if that looked right just went and pierced it. It came out crooked and didn’t even last 6 months my ball kept falling out and wouldn’t stay tight. The jewelry also made my piercing very irritated and red till I changed it. It was a horrible experience wouldn’t go to tattoo shops for piercings again.

A really great piercing experience. Dave really knows his stuff and pays attention to detail. Everything is clean and his equipment is on point. So are his jokes. Definitely going back if I want another piercing!

David pierced my and my daughters ear. He did an orbital and upper cartilage (my phrasing, as I cant recall its name). And, these two for me as well as the tragus for me. Well return to get more once these have healed. David was great, steady hands, and professional manner. I highly recommend him and American Art Tattoo.

I designed my tattoo and Dmitry (the artist), did an amazing job with EVERYTHING. The tattoo came out better than expected. People ask me about the tattoo all the time. I absolutely love Dave. Having previously had two tattoos done in Kent County, it was reassuring to see how close he is in relation to the University of Delaware (and came highly recommended). I got my bottom navel pierced there as well as four tattoos all in Fall 2013. I was tatted by a guest artist from Jersey who was MIA after working with me, but Dave did my last two tats, and did a free shading to account for the flighty artist. I highly recommend him. I plan to get my next set of tats done soon by him.

My three friends and I went to all get small tattoos and Dmytry did a fantastic job on us. For most of us it was our first tattoo and we were pretty nervous but he was brilliant with making sure we were all good and he gave us great after care advice. 11/10 would come back

Welcomed me into the shop told him I wanted my nips pierced and was very professional made me very relaxed the procedure overall was fast and it didn’t really hurt as I thought it would. I just came from getting my first tattoo. Dave was incredibly helpful through the process and even accommodated a last-minute change in the scheduling. He is clearly passionate about his work and makes the whole thing a pretty easy process. He does an awesome job of customer service, since he is the only person in the shop he takes the time to meet both the needs of the person he is working on and anyone who should happen to walk in. I will DEF be going back in the future! I got both a tattoo and set of piercings when I went. I found the crew to be very experienced and knowledgeable. Not to mention down to earth and friendly, which is a huge plus especially if youre getting a larger tat and have to spend an extended amount of time with your artist. The prices were amazing too! Only thing is that its a tad small which makes it a bit warm and stuffy. If thats the worst thing you can say about a place, they aint doing too bad. 🤣

Contacted Dave about my design via email, got a fast response and fast appointment to consult the design. Dave took my ideas and a design I purchased off the net and really ran with it, he made something I could never imagine. The day of the appointment, I arrived and Dave was ready, he spent three hours getting my piece done. The work is great, Daves attitude and conversation while he inked me was awesome. The shop is clean with an autoclave on site, either new/disposable or autoclaved items were used.The piece Dave did is a memorial tattoo and he nailed it out of the park. I will be back to see him for my next piece.Price was very reasonable. Go see Dave and his staff, you wont be sorry

My husband and I both decided to get a couples tattoo this past weekend. We decided on American Art Tattoo after reading their reviews. It was the first tattoo for both of us. The pricing was reasonable and Dimitri did a great job!! I will definitely be going back when I decide to get another one!

I really enjoyed this place. I brought my daughter here to have her nose pierced. The gentleman was very nice explained everything to me and also to my daughter. Told her what was going to happen and how to care for it afterwards and said to call him if it falls out ( as this is apparently common and you wont be ableto get it back in yourself) which it unfortunately did fall out while she was cleaning it. We just called him up came in and put it back in and adjusted the shape of the jewelry. This place is tiny but a cute little space to do tattoos and piercings. The place was very clean and they made you feel comfortable.

I got my nose pierced here a few weeks ago on a whim and I truly regret deciding to choose this shop. I returned to my piercing shop at home (I go to UD but I am from Massachusetts and was visiting for the weekend) in order for them to take a look at it because it had been bothering me. There was a lot of swelling on the inner part of my nostril around the piercing, and it was really itchy. I had been cleaning it exactly how I was instructed.The piercer at my shop told me, and I quote, Whoever pierced you had no idea what he was doing. I was truly disappointed, because I had heard so many good things about American Art and didnt have a bad experience in the shop.According to my piercer, the piercing was way too far back and was not done in a clean environment. He also added that he does not know any truly accredited piercers in the state of Delaware, and recommended that I do not return.Dave was a really great guy but if you really want to get a good piercing that will last, go elsewhere.

Since I am fairly new to DE I had no idea where to go for a restoration of an old tattoo as well as to get a new tattoo. I got a tattoo here and my experience was great! The tattoo came out looking wonderful and it was exactly how I wanted it. It was also very clean and the artist set up everything in front of me so I knew all the equipment and needles were clean and sterile. Fresh everything. Ive been here a few times over the last 8 years. quality and cleanliness have never changed. very attentive to detail and no issues with drawing up a tattoo design several times until it is exactly the way you want it. prices are fair. they say you get what you pay for. well here you get more than you pay for in my opinion.

Dave did my first tattoo back in 2006. I was extremely impressed - every other tattoo shop I looked at had either artists that were way too full of themselves (seriously, if you dont at least take the time to listen to me and what I want Im going to walk out), or were dirty. Dave was kind enough to help me out with picking what I wanted and customizing it for my tastes, and his shop was the cleanest around. He took the time to guide me through the process - I was 21 at the time and didnt know what the hell I was doing.Fast forward 11 years, and I still love my tattoo. Ive never once regretted it. The lines are still sharp, and even though the color has faded a bit (my fault for getting a few rather nasty sunburns), it still looks great. I never really said thank you to American Art and Dave back then, but Ill say it now - thank you for a wonderful tattoo.

Dave and Dmytry do great work! I have gotten all four of my tattoos done there and have never been disappointed. They offer fair prices and are both very friendly and personable guys.

I got my industrial piercing done about five months ago and it got infected really badly. Was told by another person who got their piercing done here that the owner is named “dirty needle Dave.” Do not recommend.

I called Dave after being told I could come into a shop and get it done but then was denied. It was around 6pm on a Monday and wanted a place to just go in and get a tattoo. He told me to come right in! I found a kanji word on his wall & in fell in love since I learn for the Army soon. Was in, and out! He was amazing! & his work is amazing and very fair prices! I love my first tattoo! And will be back after I get home from boot camp!

Dave (owner) and Cloud (the artist that designed and completed my tattoo) are some of the most personable, friendly, considerate, professional, experienced, reliable, and reasonable people I have ever come in contact with in the Tattoo/ Body Art industry. They are quite flexible with appointment dates, and often (during the work week) are available for extremely high quality walk in appointments. The pricing was beyond reasonable, and they were very helpful and charismatic in discussing the vision I had in mind, and they were eager and willing to do everything they could to make this vision come to life for me. The tattoo itself took about 4 hours, and went smoother than I could have imagined; she never needed a break if I did not. The final product of her hard work exceeded any and all feasible expectations I had for the fruition of the vision I had years before I walked into American Art Tattoo. When I first explained for her the vision I had for a 6 inch pine tree on my left calf, her exact words were Yes! I absolutely love realism, it is surely one of my favorite types of tattoo designs!, my excitement nearly surpassed the true connection that we made as we saw eye to eye on my vision.Needless to say I could not have been, and still could not be happier and more entirely satisfied with the artwork she created and completed for me, and due to the price and intricacy she even offered to give me free touch ups . Cloud overall is a contagiously sweet, charismatic, determined, hard working, motivated, kind-spirited, and truly talented artist. I have been doing some research in order to get my first tattoo. When I read all of the good reviews about Dave and American Art Tattoo, I knew I had the right place.I had a drawing of what I wanted to have done. One place wanted a $40.00 deposit and I would have to drop it off and they would call me back after they drew it up. I walked in to American Art Tattoo and Dave saw me right away. Dave is awesome! I got my tragus pierced here and ended up fainting (I know, Im a baby). But Dave had icing and water ready for me when I woke up. I highly recommend this shop and artist!

I found this shop online. The reason I chose this shop was because of Daves website. I read his profile and loved the fact that it promoted sterilization. I love a great tattoo like everyone else and the work on his website told me he could do the job, so I was looking for cleanliness first... My friend and I were walk-ins. We got there about two hours before closing. They were a little busy but he/ Cloudia were able to squeeze my friends tattoo in that night and Cloudia rearranged her schedule to come in on a Sunday since I was leaving town (love her for that). She sketched it out overnight, gave me three different designs the next day.. They were all great.. I wanted all three (lol) that would have been over kill. Cloudia has great skill..She has a great personality and did I mention they were clean. Cloudia did a great job on my tattoo and she will be doing my next one. Dave was great as well. He didnt do my tattoo but I saw his work. Cant wait to go back. Thanks again guys.

This place was AWFUL. Went here to replace a nose ring that fell out- was told the piercer could not figure out how to put my ring back in. He would not take my stud either- instead, he got his own stud that he cut with a pair of pliers from a rusty toolbox. He made my nose gush blood, then told me he couldn’t work with all of the blood and sent me on my way with a Q-tip. Told me I was “sh*t out of luck”. Left with a closing nose piercing, a bloody nose, and a possible infection. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Very talented artist! He used what I gave him for inspiration and drew out, free hand exactly what I wanted and it came out better than I ever imagined! Had a chance to see the piercer in action too! Everyone was very professional and they were very thorough on explaining the process as it took place as well as the aftercare.

My piercings look amazing! but my friend got her ear pierced and he didn’t screw the ball on all the way so she lost it in the car. we did have a good experience though.

Extremely overpriced, linework was shoddy, and the lack of creativity for something new instead of something premade instead of a catalog was ridiculous. Currently booked at another place to get half of this american art covered up and fixed.Also the studio is upstairs in the dudes house. No A/C. Its so small its like youre getting a tattoo in a friends kitchen in a trailer. The worst part is the smell of car urine constantly punching you in the nose. Dont make my mistake and get a tattoo here because they can book you that day.

I felt so unwelcome, this guy is a scratch artist, he couldnt even give me the tattoo I wanted. He said he couldnt blend colors and could only do my tattoo in black and white, which defeated the whole purpose of the piece.
