My piercing expert Kat was AWESOME at reopening a piercing in my nose that I thought was closed. She explained EVERY step that was going to happen through the procedure. I really enjoyed her energy and if I need ANY other piercings...Kat will be my go to person♥️♥️♥️

I worked with Mike Paquette on a tribute tattoo design for my son who died at the age of 20 in a skiing accident in 2020. I brought in the basic design concept of a downhill skier along with photos of my son in his full ski gear. Mike did a great job incorporating the two designs into the final design.

I called ahead to learn about their consultation procedure. Made an appointment with Thad. He mocked up a design and answered my questions. Very easy to work with.Set up a second appointment to get the work done. He was well prepared and answered my questions. He worked deliberately and efficiently.This shop is super professional and I’d definitely recommend.

I have had two piercings done here, and both times were great. My most recent one was done by Kat, an apprentice piercer, and Jo. They both made me feel so comfortable and at ease, and were honestly some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. I felt so comfortable, and I will absolutely come back here for my future piercings. They were very professional and kind. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I would give this place a 10 if I could. Last minute a friend and I wanted a piercing and we got in the same day. We were welcomed from the beginning and got straight to business. Jo and her assistant took us back and walked us through step by step on the piercing and after care instructions. They were very clean and educated. You could tell they enjoy the work they do. When it came time to piercing they talked us up and you could feel the good energy they both gave off. I left there not only with a piercing but with high self confidence that I didn’t even ask for and know I needed. They cheered us on. I will recommend over and over again. We will be going back soon!

I just got my tattoo here 30 minutes ago. I love the results. My artist was Thad. He was a vary dedicated and caring artist. He asked if the placement was good, we picked colors and he got to work. He was vary organized and professional. He got all of the colors layed out before he started, and did all of the prep work and explained his answer to my additional aftercare questions after hanging me the aftercare sheet. I absolutely love this place and they have vary high praise from me. Thank you again, Thad! Ill be back! Haha

Jo pierced my helix and was absolutely amazing. She explained the anatomy of my ear and helped me pick out my jewelry to match my style while also being honest about what would work best for my ear. She sterilized everything before we got started and explained after care thoroughly. I will definitely be coming back!

I love this place so much! Missouri tattoo shops are so dirty and messy compared to this one. Thad was the one who did my tattoo and he was amazing. So organized, clean, friendly and detail-oriented. He really perfected my little gecko’s footprints that I had given him and I love the detail that he added to the flowers. I have quite a bit of tattoos and so far, this place is my favorite. For all my future tattoos, I will for sure have Thad do them. Good job! I love it! 😊

I brought my daughter in to get her nose pierced and the experience couldn’t of been better! They were so patient and kind during the whole appointment. The studio is extremely clean and receptionist was sweet! 10/10!

Love the way my tattoo turned out BUT I was super frustrated with how they handled my scheduling. Olivia wad sick on the day of my tattoo and couldn’t do my tattoo which is totally fine I understand completely. They rescheduled my tattoo for when I was out of town (my fault I should have checked my schedule better) so I called back to reschedule it and they said Olivia wouldn’t be able to get me in until January 15th!! I had already paid my deposit so I took the appt even though it was months away! Then a couple days later I see on Olivia’s instagram that she has multiple openings before then! Super frustrating to know and think my tattoo wasn’t high priority to get in. I reached out to her and she apologized and let me take one of those appts and put me in her cancellation list and was actually able to get me in fairly quickly afterwards. However I do feel like if I hadn’t said anything I would still be waiting until January for my tattoo! Super frustrating and she never once brought it up during our session! It did not feel like it was a big deal to her. The tattoo turned out good but when she put on the second skin for the healing process it started coming off by the time I got home! I ended up having to wrap it in my own wrap for a couple hours to keep it clean! She did give me a second skin to put on after I took the first one off but it wasn’t big enough to cover my tattoo so I ended up not being able to use it really! Just overall super disappointed with the whole process of getting this tattoo! Probably will not be going back for any other tattoos in the future.

It was a great first experience!! They will walk you through getting your piercing, very easy and a lot of care taken!! Cleanliness and sterlizing was a must for them!

I had an amazing experience getting pierced here. My piercer was Jo, they were super kind, assuring, and clear! They made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. They also knew I was a bit anxious, so they were very honest and explained the piercing clearly. Jo gave lots of affirmations and guidance to make sure I felt comfortable.

Had an AMAZING piercing experience with Jo! If you’re nervous for your piercing (and even if you’re not), she is absolutely the one to see. Olivia is a beast! I am in the process of getting a half sleeve and am already scheduled for a full sleeve on my other arm. I would definitely recommend her. I have friends that have used Joel and their tattoos look amazing as well.

I strongly recommend coming here for Jo to do your piercings. I came with my Mom and we both got our noses done. We were nervous and Jo was awesome talking to us and keeping our minds off of what she was doing. I felt a little pinch, but that was it. She was recommended by a friend of mine and has all wonderful reviews. Now I see why, Jo is simply amazing!!

My friends and I showed up to get a simplistic small tattoo. The receptionist and the tattoo artist were very unprofessional and rude. The receptionist immediately said they were booked up for today, but tried to get us in later in the week, we explained our tattoo out to her, showed a couple of referenced photos to her, she then changed her tone of voice towards us and said “oh that picture looks photoshopped” then laughed. Then went to one of the tattoo artist and explained our tattoo to him in front of other clients, she then giggled after telling him about the tattoo, the clients looked at us in a judgement manner. We decided to take our business to another tattoo shop where we felt appreciated, welcomed, and not judged for a tattoo that we wanted and cared about.

Today I decided to get a second piercing in each ear (daring right 😂) and maybe a cute little stud in my nose. Kat explained everything extremely thoroughly…..and Jo guided my decision to wait on cute little nose stud until ears would be a little more healed. There wasn’t a step in the process that wasn’t explained….the experience I had was way more than what I expected….ultimate professionals with a personal touch for sure. Skip Claire’s and go to people who are properly trained to do piercings and guide you in aftercare….even if it’s “just” your ears. Thank you Jo and Kat 🙏😘

Went in for a upper ear piercing. Jo helped my friend and I. She was a complete professional and walked us through everything we needed to know and more. She is very relaxed and calming so it makes the entire process stress free. Front desk staff were very nice and helpful as well. Will definitely go back here for the next one.

Jo was a phenomenal piercer. Their communication, friendliness, and cleanliness were so far beyond what I’ve experienced other places. They definitely want you feeling confident and comfortable the whole time and my piercings came out perfectly.

I got my septum pierced, and my tongue she was amazing she talked me through everything she was doing. It was very clean and smelled nice. It does say walk in, but you still have to wait, possibly 5 hours or more or less it depends on when you get in line. They do have a system that will text you to let you know when to come in you will have to refresh it to see where you are in line so keep an eye on that when they text you its because your next so be close. I have already referred someone to her. Cant wait to go back.

I got my Mother/Daughter Celtic knot done by Brad tonight, it was such a good experience. He was professional but still funny and nice. He also answered any and all questions I had. Plus pricing was amazing. Ill definitely be going back.

A friend and I were waitlisted for piercings and waited around for a few hours, but it was totally worth it when we got the piercings. The piercer and apprentice were so chill and made us feel comfortable while we were there, talking us through the steps as they were doing them and going through aftercare thoroughly. The best piercer I’ve ever been to, I’ve gotten 6 piercings from this piercer. Both the piercer and the apprentice are absolutely amazing. The placement has been perfect and they make you feel incredibly comfortable, I could not recommend coming here enough. An amazing experience that makes you want to go back. Their piercer Jo is a boss. I lost the ball to my septum, and they hooked me up with a new one free of charge. Even helped educate me on my jewelry size and diameter (I’d thought I was multiple gauges smaller than I was). So grateful for the help!

Overall I have a very good experience with Jo. I got my snake bites done by them and we did run into an error of a piercing being off center. However Jo took full responsibility and did not charge me for this piercing, had me come back a week later to have it redone :). Jo is so so sweet and informative. They will also make sure you’re calm before they let you leave which is a major bonus for me personally. If you’re debating getting a piercing here, do it! It’s worth the wait for the quality service!

Came in a couple of days ago for my first tattoo. Thad was very experienced, and did a great job. When I first walked into the room, I told him I was a little bit nervous, and he said its just another Thursday. I ended up loving the experience, and I already want another one. I would definitely recommend Thad.

Ive wanted my nose pierced since 4th grade (Im now 39). For my daughters 15th birthday we both got pretty studs in our noses.The experience was so much better than I could have imagined. As an introvert its a bit intimidating to walk into a building that is designed to make your feel bold... but we were greeted by a perky receptionist that made all the nervousness go away. Once we got back to the piercing room, it just felt safe and so professional. She helped us decide on jewelry, and really made us feel comfortable. I loved that she was a quiet confidence as she explained everything, without sounding like a robot.My daughter has a huge fear of needles (due to a traumatic experience), and I think this experience may be one of the best things that could have ever happened for her - As the environment was calm, and allowed her to work thru her fears.Thank you for giving us a great mommy daughter experience!EDIT 5 weeks later:I had an unfortunate event that caused some trauma to my piercing about 2 weeks ago. After trying to heal at home with no success, I stopped in today to have it looked at. Jo was great, and we came up with a plan to help it heal. Im feeling more optimistic that I will eventually have a beautifuly healed piercing.

My wife walked in last year as one of the first tattoo parlors we stopped by while I waited in our car. I understand that everybody has a bad day on occasion, but my wife walked out so fast (blushing) and all she could say was the lady at the front desk was the snottiest person she had spoken to in a while. At the end of the day, we stopped by Golden Stag Tattoo and had a great experience getting our first tattoos. I know my wife, and you have to be a real can of peaches to have her comment on somebodys attitude. I know one of your staff commented on my 1 star review last year but I remember it being full of sarcastic attitude complaining I had nothing to say. Heres our experience...hope to give you guys a second chance on a better day.

I went and got my tragus pierced by Jo and it was seriously THE BEST piercing experience I have had. I’ve been to several places in the area to get various piercings and I’ve never had a piercer like Jo. She took her time, recommended what would be best for me and didn’t have her own wants in mind, and kept me breathing and calm through the whole process. Such an awesome and sweet individual! Went here for my first piercing and Jo was absolutely phenomenal. The amount of education and coaching I received throughout the process made it so much less anxious and painful that I will find it hard to go anywhere else in the future. Cannot recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience! Jo is amazing, calm, precise and knowledgeable. Clearly explained all the information about piercings to my daughter and allowed her time to ask any questions. Jo taught her how to breath and relax through the piercings. The atmosphere is clean, relaxing and friendly.

I actually got a nose piercing here and did not last. Another friend was rejected for her anatomy even tho she waited an hour and we got a second opinion from another piercer. It was not a matter of anatomy but rather the skill of the piercer. Overpriced and overhyped to reject peircings explore your options.

Stopped in for a spur of the moment mid life crisis and got a second nose piercing . My experience with Jo and her assistant was top knotch service. Only thing missing was a glass of champagne and a warm blanket. On the serious side her voice is so soothing and I truly enjoyed my time with them today. I highly recommend!!!

What a Great Experience! I went to get my ears pierced as I stopped wearing earrings about eight years ago. Jo observed that my ear’s didn’t need re-piercing, the original holes needed to be opened. It was quick, painless and easy. Professional staff. Highly recommend!

This place is extremely clean, everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. I went to Jo to get my nose piercing done. She was by far the best piercer I have ever had. We use to love going to the old Aftershock. Had work done there years ago and it was outstanding. But this time, we live in Topeka and had a consult scheduled for 6pm. We knew that we were running a little late due to rush hour traffic so we called and told them that were coming from out of town and would be 30 minutes late. They said ok. We show up 28 minutes late and they told us sorry we are going to have to reschedule for a consult. I said I am not new to tattoos and have never needed a consult and that I would just like to schedule for my actual appointment to get the work done. They refused and said everyone is required to do a consult. They do good work here but not that good to waste my time and act like everyone is beneath them. My money will spend good elsewhere. Also note that 3 of us were there to get work done so they lost 3 in one shot.I also wanted to add that both of the receptionist that we spoke with on the phone and in person are lacking customer service skills.Edit: Reply to Aftershock: I can’t prove time frame but you are wrong. 6 pm appointment called at 5:45pm to be nice and notify you all that were we running late and would be there at 6:30pm and your receptionist said should be fine. Walked in the door at 6:28pm and finally spoke to someone at 6:40pm. Not doing this for any gain other than to prove you wrong.

The piercers here are absolutely amazing, and staff is always helpful and friendly! Piercers are always sure to talk you through things and let you know if you have the right anatomy for what you want done. Out of the 3-4 parlors Ive went to, this is my favorite, 100%

Got my nose Pierced today by Jo! She’s the sweetest and the nicest. She made the experience extremely calming and the pain was so quick! The shop was very clean & well put together! The receptionists were very nice and helpful. I love the set up for walk ins! Overall the best tattoo shop I’ve ever been in!!

I got a nose piercing done here by Jo, and she exceeded my expectations! She quickly realized I was nervous and did a great job of calming me down and making me feel better about the process. Also, she answered all of my questions before the piercing, and made sure I didn’t leave with any more on my mind. She took her time and made sure I was ready. She also gave me good information to help plan out my future ear piercings! I will be going back to her for every piercing in the future!

As a kid was traumatized by nose piercing, had painful memories. Kat she is so gentle kind and patient. She listened to what I had to say, calmed my fear anxiety. She was quick and gentle with the piercing. Also familiar with placement off nose pin per Indian culture. I am very grateful for her, as she helped me heal the previous trauma.🤗❤🐲🙂

Got three piercings here recently in my cartilage. Very clean, experienced, and kind. I wanted my three piercings going down my ear done at once but was explained the healing process ,in a nice manor, and how it would be a bad idea to do it all at one time. I listened to the professional and spaced it out to three different visits. I am really glad I did. If they give you advice, just know that their goal is to give you a great experience and a good healing process.

Jo is by far the best piercer I’ve ever had. She has done snake bites and a septum on me and both times she explained aftercare and how the piercing would work. She walked me through everything she was going to do and also coached me on breathing. 10/10

Came to Aftershock for a mommy and son tattoo. Nothing too detailed, we just wanted something meaningful to us before he goes to college. We worked with Thad, and he was amazing. Very patient (with me) and so detail oriented. His cleaning and sterilization regiment would make a surgeon proud. He even had a dry, wicked sense of humor. Very clean shop, Mike was friendly and did a good job. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the price was really high for what we got done. But at the end of the day we are happy with the tattoos and the hospitality of the shop.

I went in for a couple of different ear piercings and had my first experience with Jo. She was informative, patient and gentle. She made sure I was comfortable and understood all of the after care instructions. I felt that pricing was reasonable and wouldn’t hesitate to come back and see her again!

I got my upper helix pierced by Jo at Aftershock! She was professional, attentive, and made me feel comfortable. She didn’t make me feel rushed and the breathing exercises she had me do helped me feel a lot better when getting the piercing! I would recommend going to Jo to get a piercing. I really liked the cleanliness of the entire space and all of the staff were welcoming and kind.

Friendly customer service, but terrible system for booking appointments. I called days ahead to ask for an appointment to have a helix piercing removed, and was told that piercing is on a first come, first served basis. I drove 30 minutes only to be told that the wait was 3 hours, and I couldn’t call back later to place a spot on the waitlist; I had to be present. I understand the waitlist, but a queue that you can join online at any time makes more sense than having to be physically present to even reserve a spot. Especially when it’s a multiple-hour wait. This place was a personal recommendation, so I was hopeful to have a positive experience. Unfortunately the archaic booking system made me look elsewhere.

Edit here: Post this review I did get my desired tattoo completed beautifully and I am in love, SKIN ILLUSTRATIONS has been my best tattoo and piercing experience by far!!!I went in for a consult with Thad for my first tattoo 3 weeks ago, over the phone and in person I told the staff I do not like the look of american traditional tattoos, i was looking for something a bit more realistic and dainty and that personally and I am not a fan on thick line work. It took less than 30 seconds for Thad to practically walk me out of the front door and he was not willing to discuss any way to collaborate on an idea. I respect and completely understand if an artist does not do certain styles and if the tattoo will fade quickly an artist might not want to have their name attached to that work. However after showing him my reference picture he rudely told me he will never do a tattoo like that, I will be unhappy and hate it, and that no one in the area will ever do this tattoo for me. I was willing and tried to find a possible middle ground and even offered suggestions of maybe brown or thinner like work which was immediately shut down with rude remarks saying if i wanted this tattoo it was going to be the way he wanted it done. After this he walked me out and the entire interaction lasted about 30-45 seconds before I was back at the front desk.The tattoo i wanted was a peach, peach half and a peach slice, i understand pinks are hard to get to stick and my reference photos had little to no line work. I acknowledged this and I did not mind the fact it would fade and that’s actually why i like pink line work/ink personally.I would not recommend this shop personally but I understand others have different experiences. i hope others do not get discouraged when a reaction like this occurs from staff. (Also i did find an artist at a different shop a few miles away who was more than willing to do this tattoo for me after telling him about this interaction)

After an initially poor experience with one of Aftershocks artists who was having an off day, I walked out of the store, feeling completely disrespected. Later, owner Mike Paquette called me to discuss the situation. He listened carefully to my complaints. He treated me with respect and helped me to better understand what was going on with the artist. Then he agreed to make room in his schedule to do a couple of small tattoos for me. Hes a hell of a guy and he did great work.I hope he doesnt mind me sharing something he said with me, Its more important to get your tattoo exactly right than it is to get your spouse exactly right, because one of those will definitely be with you forever.I would simply advise future customers to have an initial consultation with the artist, not just the receptionist, in order to make sure everyone is on the same page and that both you and the artist are fully prepared to get down to work at the time of your appointment.

First off, very clean I love how the sitting area is separated from where the artist tattooed, very friendly, the restroom is very clean and neat, nice funiture smells great everyone makes you feel like family..Miguel is my artist he is very fast and I love his tattoos so much he tattooed my whole arm and upper arm back in no time with shade very reasonable. This place is so different from other tattoo shops, just the atmosphere the greetings just over all make you feel like family and great artist up to date vending machines, I can write a book.

I have had probably 3-4 piercings done with Jo and she is absolutely wonderful. She is knowledgeable, kind, and an excellent piercer! I’ve never had a problem with any piercing she has done for me. Everything is sterile and tidy. She’s been super helpful in changing some piercings that I found difficult at first. I will always recommend her to anyone and everyone!

So after 2 times of trying this business out and getting turned down- their walk in policy and waiting policy is ridiculous- I’m going to say bad business vibes 100%. First of all they don’t close until 8, showed up at 7:30 on a Friday! and was told they were closed, the receptionist was rather rude and very unprofessional as she saw us pull into the parking spot and decided to turn her back from the front door- weird way to greet new customers, there was no wait, while I’m assuming the piercer was with a guest, but could had easily handled the situation better than losing our business. We leave and she follows us and turns off the open light, it’s probably 7:45 now, and basically feel like this place and their entitled business sense can F off, it’s 2023 do better! Like are you open to make money are just scrap by and barely do anything with your life because you have no worth ethic??

September 25th 2021 I went to get my septum pierced on a Saturday with Jo and she was absolutely amazing! Great staff and wonderful work. I definitely recommend this place and would come back in the future!August 6th 2022 I came back and got my first tattoo with Brad I booked it 4 months in advance and it was more than worth the wait when I had initially went in for my consult Brad said he would love to do the tattoo for me so I left with a great feeling and when I went in for my tattoo he did an amazing job He brought my vision to life and put my grandmas handwriting into my tattoo beautifully! Thank you so much! I will be back.

I got my lobes double pierced and my cartilage pierced and it was such a great experience! The last time I had anything pierced was my lobes when I was 6 months old and Jo did an amazing job of explaining what to expect. She was kind, calming, and extremely professional while explaining every step of the process. Not to mention she was extremely efficient and the whole process took no more than 15-20 minutes. I would definitely come back again!

Came in today to get pierced by Jo and I had the absolute BEST experience i have ever had.I have multiple piercings and tattoos and her bedside manner was the best ive ever had, absolutely amazing. She was a constant cheerleader while I was getting my piercing - telling me i was doing a good job and explaining everything she was doing as she was doing it to keep me informed.She made me so comfortable (Even while having a needle shoved through a very delicate place). Joe is amazing! I so wish I knew about Aftershock a couple of years ago to get my nose piercing done correctly. She consulted me and was not afraid to tell me to sleep on my decision and gave me great ideas if I decided to pursue getting a hoop noise ring. I definitely came back the next day and have no regrets. She she did a phenomenal job! I had so many compliments!

We were educated with correct jewelry choices, placement, and also the do’s and don’ts with aftercare. She even offered care and consultation on prior piercings. More concerned with proper piercing techniques than just running up the bill, like most shops are. Our piercer values clients which will earn them repeated business and referrals from us.

My dad and I have been getting tattooed by Joel for years. My wife wanted some new piercings at their new location which is super nice looking by the way! Jo is still the piercer which is awesome because I cant think of anyone else I would go to! My wife who hates needles said her experience with Jo was nothing less than Outstanding! 5 stars is not enough for this establishment.

I go to Jo everytime i want a new piercing. She is professional and has such a soothing voice. Even if you get worked up she is good at calming you down. I would recommend her to anyone wanting a new piercing!

Came here and by far the BEST experience to date with piercing. I’ve had roughly 18 other piercings done and Jo was so professional and personable. She has clearly been in the profession for a while. Would definitely recommend them and will go to her again for any piercing wants/needs I have.

Stopped in to try to just buy jewelry. Every other studio Ive ever been to has jewelry for purchase without having to see the piercer. Here we were put on a waiting list to see the piercer and they said it was a three hour wait. I wasnt willing to wait that long before i even saw what their selection was like to know if it was worth the wait. Went to a different shop down the road, walked right in and bought the jewelry we were after. Clearly this place is super busy so props to them. But jewelry up front for sale would be an easy way to make some extra cash.

Brought my daughter here to get her nose pierced. They did a fantastic job. However had a 2.5 hour wait and me and dad both wanted to be in the room and only was allowed one parent. Sucked cause we both drove really far to be there and one had to sit out. Other than that experience was fine.

I got my Tragus pierced at a different shop and it is having a very hard time healing. I went to aftershock and Jo took a look at it and I was so incredibly impressed by her kindness, knowledge and professionalism. I was at ease the entire time. She explained why it wasn’t healing correctly. Gave me suggestions of what we could do and didn’t pressure me. I will only be going to her going forward for any piercings. THANK YOU JO!!

Just got my nose and cartilage pierced by Jo!! She’s amazing and was so relaxing and fun to talk to. It was quick and painless and she was so calming and extremely Professional. Took my 17 year old daughter here to get an industrial piercing. She’s been TWICE before to get tattoos from Olivia (who by the way does great work). We knew from before she needed a photo ID/birth certificate and my ID since she’s 17 and doesn’t have her ID yet. Plus I called to verify it. We took the EXACT same documents as before with her tattoos. We arrived today as soon as they opened and the dark haired girl at the front sat there flipping her birth certificate back and forth. She says something to the other woman and then says we can’t use this. I said why not we used the same documents before for her tattoos. She then says it needs to be a stamped birth certificate from the State. Again, these are the SAME pieces of ID we used for 2 freakin tattoos .Then she says each piercer requires different documents. Not one time during this last call or any previous calls was it said it needed to be a State issued birth certificate. I’ve had plenty of tattoos and piercings and never had this many inconsistencies. Not to mention a 30 minute drive to get there.I was going to get my next tattoo with Olivia but after today they won’t be getting our business again nor will I be referring anyone there.Edit to the owners response. I provided the SAME documentation that I provided when Olivia did both of her tattoos. The hospital birth certificate (yes with the footprint which had the stamp from the hospital her name and her parents name)her school ID and my DL. So what’s the difference? She just got her last tattoo a few months ago ?????

Great shop, everyone was very welcoming and professional. They had the shop set up in such a way were everything was very clean and safe. I have gotten one tattoo here, and they were quick, clean, and everyone there is super nice. Besides that, I get all of my piercings done here, and I will never go anywhere else. The piercer is so rad, and she knows what she’s doing. She talks you through everything and makes you feel confident and comfortable in getting that piercing. She gives great advice on what piercings you should get before others, which side it would work better for you on, and she’s always honest and I appreciate that. I have sent 3 different friends to get pierced by her and they also say that they won’t go anywhere else. If you’re looking for a place to get a piercing, this is absolutely, 100% the place. I have no bad things to say about them. Aftershock deserves 5 stars across the board.

I got my industrial piercing last February and it was an amazing experience. Staff was friendly and I was in and out in less than an hour. However I recently went back to buy a new piece of jewelry, and was told that the only person with access to it was the piercer herself. I was told she had over ten people waiting for her, so it would be hours before she could simply come out and sell me a piece of jewelry. I feel like that system isnt effective in the slightest. If youre just wanting a piercing however, I recommend Aftershock.

My friend and I went and got ear piercings and Jo did an excellent job! She is was super nice and talked us through the process as she was doing it! I got a tattoo on my foot by Joel and he did a fantastic job! I will definitely be going back for more tattoos! I give after shock a 5 star!

Been going to Brad for years now and hes an amazingly cool artist! Hes always been chill and laid back whenever I go in and see him. He always charges a fair price and does amazing work. He is a busy man, but hes worth the wait!

Came in this afternoon to get my left nostril pierced (my first real piercing aka one not done at Claires). The wait wasnt too bad, considering it was Saturday and they do walk-ins for piercings, but I would have waited 10 hours for Jo and Kat! I was extremely nervous and jittery and they calmed me right down, were very interested in the cultural significance of the piercing for me, and charmed my mom (which is VERY hard to do, trust me). The whole process was over before I knew it, and I was supplied with all the after-care info needed. Jo and Kat will take care of you, so if you need something pierced, come to Aftershock!!!

I recently received my second tattoo from Joel at Aftershock yesterday. The front desk staff was very professional and helpful from my initial consult through the time of my appointment. I have used Joel as my tattoo artist for both tattoos, and he is a fantastic artist--he beautifully rendered the original tattoo I brought in and even added some extra embellishments to make it even more perfect! And as a bonus, hes a very laid-back person and an easy conversationalist, so it makes the process of the tattoo go by in no time! I highly recommend Aftershock and Joel if youre looking for a reputable establishment to get some ink.

Jo has done my bellybutton and nose piercing and she was WONDERFUL. She talked to me and really made me feel comfortable about getting a new piercing in addition to my old ones. She asked me if I preferred to have her count before she pierced it or to just go at it. Not only was SHE very friendly, the other employees were too. The second I walked in a man greeted me at the desk and got my information and I went straight on in to get a piercing. Definitely going back to get my tongue pierced from her. Aftershock is an awesome place.

Jo is the ONLY one I will allow to pierce me. No pain, just a little discomfort but she put me at total ease and answered all of my questions. I have had 2 piercings by her and my husband has had 8 and we have had no issues with any other them. I am going in for a tattoo next week. Hope they are as good as Jo is at piercing.

Have gotten tattoos and piercings from them in the past, and have been pleased with the artists’ work. My dislike lies in the receptionist’s efforts. She does not have good customer service skills and IMO, derails potential customers for the artists. Also, not great with communication so PSA, if you are wanting to book a session I would recommend physically going there so u can actually converse with the artist on what you want ahead of time so u don’t have to deal with her banter.

Jo is a miracle worker! The ball on my lip ring would NOT BUDGE as hard as I tried ALL DAY with pliers, rubber gloves - even having someone else try! From the start she told me she liked a good challenge - and she wasnt kidding! She was able to get the ball off, fit me with a new piece as well as a new nose piece! I just returned from getting my third tattoo this year from Brad (B-Rad) at Aftershock. I have had a great experience each time. The front desk is always staffed and the phone is ALWAYS answered. I have felt welcome and not like I am just taking up somebodies time. I had not been inside a tattoo business since the early 90s and they were never as clean as I have found Aftershock to be. I really cant say enough about front desk staff (Im sorry I cannot remember names)Brad takes the time to listen to what I want and is honest about how he feels about the piece. He is very personable and does not try to rush me out of the chair. Brad explains everything he is doing and ensures I know each step of the process.Tonight I was also able to meet Al and John, two other artists. They were also very nice and welcoming and carried on a great conversation.I would not hesitate to return and will continue to send all of my friends to Aftershock!

I came in as a walk in for A nose piercing because they don’t do appointments on saturdays. I recommend you arrive early because there was a line outside 20 minutes before open. They got me in fast and jo was very good at explaining the aftercare. She was very calming and It went by so fast. Barely felt a thing! Definitely recommend and I will be back for more piercings.

So since I work 1230 to 9 I was having some trouble getting in for a tattoo. I had Thursday off this week and didnt know they only did appointments during the week but since I had a small and simple tattoo they squeezed me in anyway. Mike was great and explained everything to me since this was my first tattoo and he did a tiny bit first so I knew what to expect before he did the whole thing. He chatted with me the whole time too which was nice. It was a very comfortable and professional place and I will definitely go back if I decide I want another tattoo.

Fun place to get a tattoo. We went on a Saturday when it is walk-ins only and arrived 30 minutes before the opened to an already existing line. Had to wait roughly 3.5 hours to get to our tattoos. Im not sure if you went on a weekday if they charge the same minimum, but on Saturday the minimum was $80 for a tattoo, no matter how small or simple. That is a reasonable charge, but keep that in mind if you have something simple and small that would normally cost less, consider going somewhere else on a Saturday.Very satisfied with my work, the tattoo artist was fun, interactive, and gave great advice. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I do recommend going to Aftershock Tattoo.

I called to make an appointment and was told I had to come in to make one. I drove all the way there and then was told to make the appointment I needed a $50 deposit. I showed the guy at the front what I wanted and he just blankely stared at me and said okay. Super unfriendly. I was going to make an appointment but was told they take walk-ins Saturday. I came Saturday and waited in line with about 3-4 different groups in front of me. They told me the wait time was an hour. An hour and a half later I said I had to leave cause I took my son to a baby sitter and she told me I was next so I stayed. Another 40 minutes later after they called 3 people back she said it would be a couple hours. I left and went down the street and had a much better experience. The place was cleaner, people way friendlier and they got me right in. The whole atmosphere was different. Horrible experience here trying to get my first tattoo.

Had a bad piercing job ar Irezumi Tattoos in KCMO. couple trauma wound snake bites. 5 years ago joel did a tat on my left arm at aftershock and is still in great condition. Had my bad lip piercings taken out here too. The lady who removed them was extremely gentle and steady and removed them and i felt an itty bitty pinch from the piercing moving but ot was extremely negligible. She was steady, nice and EXPERIENCED. Amazing service for the past 5 years from my personal experience

Although we waited a little bit after our appointment, Brad was awesome! Very genuine, down to earth and real. Not to mention, he is a great artist. No matter if your tattoo is big or small, its just as important to him. Highly recommend Brad!

We went in on Saturday, which is walk in only. We got there right at noon and there was already a line of about 12 people, but we had the day open and knew we would have to wait. Our turn came after about 3 hours. But it was so worth it. Brad did amazing work. So much detail and time spent making our tattoos perfect.

Got a dope cover up by B-rad. Very pleased, reasonably priced, Cool knowledgeable staff. He took the time and gave me what I wanted.Update: Went in for just a nose piercing for my 15yo daughter. After calling days before and lastnite about my 15 yo kids piercing arrived opening hr around noon waited in line. Was told I needed her student ID I said fine went and got it came back and was told itd be a almost 3hr wait we got on the wait list, arrived when prompted by text just to be told after filling out paper work that I needed the birth certificate with the school ID.I said I drove back already home to to retrieve the school ID and was told thats all they was needed just to be told they needed more! Need less to say tell people that over the phone and have it up for all to see so itll save customers time of the run around. Now we have a day wasted of waiting for NOTHING!

This place claims to be on a walk on basis for piercings but it is not. You should call ahead to get on the list and even then you might not get in which is fine but we were told it was a walk in place. The lady up front was rude as well. I’m sure this place probably has great services but the lady up front was short with us and unfriendly.

My daughter went in today to get information about a touch-up. She knows it isnt a great tattoo, and has heard good things about this place. Seems things were going pretty well until Mike showed up. He talked trash on her tattoo, gave her a lecture, and was pretty negative about the whole thing. She said the first guy was really nice and she thought they were going to be able to fix things up... now shes going elsewhere. I guess you dont need customer service when you are good, I dunno.

Came in with a friend as walk-ins on a Saturday. Asked for an estimate to make sure they were on the same page as us price-wise however the receptionist said they do all tattoos by the hour. After waiting over 3 hours finally got in for our tattoos (simple enough a beginner could do them) artist wanted $120 EACH PERSON for 20 minutes of work. The artist got offended that we didnt want to pay that much. To make things worse during the middle of my session the chair slipped (wasnt positioned/fastened properly) nearly causing the artist to completely destroy my skin and tattoo. Bad experience. Facilities are clean and other than a situation that could have been prevented by a little more professionalism and a little less unsavory behavior the establishment seemed okay.

I went in today and got a very intimate piercing with Jo. She is absolutely amazing! I was so nervous and she talked me through it the whole way! It was almost painless!!!

I wish I could give zero stars. My friend and I walked in last night to get a quote, see if it was by appointment only, and just other information. The girl at the front desk was the least helpful person Ive ever met. She did not offer any information and it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of her. We asked to talk to one of the artist to discuss what we wanted and she looked at us like we were aliens. It was the most awkward interaction and because of her we walked out and will never come back. Its too bad because this place has good reviews. They just lost two customers because of the girl at the front desk. Maybe its because the younger generation does not know how to communicate anymore. Either way its just sad.

Dom was absolutely phenomenal. He was patient and made sure I got the best design and detailing on my first tattoo. Highly recommend him, and will be coming back for more sometime.

Fantastic shop! Clean comfortable customer seating, flat screen to watch youre waiting, super professional and flawless tattoo. Also have a great selection of piercing jewelry, many Id never seen before. Highly recommended.

I had a very detailed tattoo in mind and was very nervous about how it would turn out. Big Al sketched it up and when I went in to see it, I was completely amazed because it looked even better than the picture I showed him. The receptionist was very nice and seemed just as excited as I was when my tattoo was done. I would recommend Aftershock and Big Al to anyone!

I got my nose pierced here. My piercer was very calm and professional. She answered all of the questions I had. Would definitely let her stab me again if I get the urge!

Took my daughter there to get a septum piercing. The lady check her septum and said she couldnt do it cus it might end up looking crooked so she went with a normal nose piercing. Looks nice

When finally a guy arrived at the counter, I told him that I wanted to make an appointment. I had an idea of a tattoo I wanted but needed help putting the idea together. He laughed and told me they cant do that, that I had to be sure of what I wanted. I told him that I had some pictures but needed an ARTIST to help me (I thought thats what artists do). He then told me I could make an appointment for a consultation. I was so embarrassed because of they way he treated me. I didnt went again, decided to go to another place that actually treated me with respect and I felt confortable there...I decided to give them 3 stars because Ive seen the work they do and its awesome, maybe the other artists there are actually nice and knows how to treat people.

Quoted me $300 for a simple tattoo that would have been about 4in long. From other tattoos I have, I know I can get quality work for like $80 for the design I want from other places. Make sure you get quotes on your work people!

Awful customer service, rude & impatient staff. they do not work with you at all. front desk employee is extremely rude, has little to no customer service skills. I was about to get a tattoo done until she began belittling me, putting personal input in a pushy way, laughing at me inches away from my face. She litterally ran us out of the shop. I have never been spoken to in such a way at a professional buisness. Will never be back, and would NEVER recommend to a friend. Dont waste your time/money here. Go to freaks on broadway or beautiful body. They know how to run a buisness & they do a beautiful job.

If youre looking for a piercing look no further. The artist is surgically precise and so caring and kind! They care about the work they do and the people they do it for.

Got my nose pierced by Jo. All of her online reviews are dead on. She is awesome! I felt totally at ease and taken care of by her. I would recommend her to anyone!

It was a little place but seemed clean and friendly. Staff was helpful and up beat. My kid was getting a difficult ear piercing for help dealing with migraine headaches. They really help her.

Jo is off the chain. Love her vibe. She’s a must go and see. The whole experience is a 10 with me. Props to the young lady at the front desk as well. I definitely recommend them

My mom and I came in on a Saturday(walk in day), they were very nice and helped us pick our designs. Joel was absolutely hilarious and an amazing artist.

I dont know if all Tattoo artist at this shop are the same but the guy I got was rude, I came in with a tattoo idea that meant something to me & he altered the look of it to his own design & then when i made a comment about it he made me feel stupid for being so picky, something that will be permanently on my body forever, excuse me for being picky. And then when i asked how much for it he said 100... it was a tattoo that would hardly cover my wrist, a watch could probably cover it up i didnt expect to pay more than 60-70 but 100? He was definitely over charging me because he knew he could, on top of that... I had made an appointment, was on time and it took them 20 mins before meeting with me and then he said before he could start he would need 15 mins to goto mcdonalds and eat then he could start. So on top of making a customer wait who made an APPOINTMENT, He changed my idea, a design that meant something to me & that i really liked stating that he was unable to do it the way i wanted that all artist have their own styles even though i brought it in for him to trace and then he tried to over charge me... I will be looking else where for my first tattoo. I have lots of friends & family & my partner all have tattoos so i know when someone could careless about my business. I decided to look else where after all that... Dont recommend a business that have employees like this... my opinion.

I came in as a walk-in wanting to get a small arm tattoo. I was put on a list and told the wait would be one to two hours. Four hours later I had to end up calling them. The staff told me that they had already called me and left me a message yet I received no call nor no messages in my voicemail. So they left some random person a message and wouldnt fit me in at the end of the night. I will not be going back to this shop due to their poor service.

Very professional, store is so clean and enjoyable to be in and St. John is going to be starting soon on my husbands tattoo and we both really like him and his artistic talent. We know it will be amazing.

I asked while filling out my paperwork for my piercing do you have titanium earring they said yes, so I freaking wait over an hour until we get called in and no titanium, if your running a business have supplies people. Not cool. Wont be going back.

Jo is great! I love that she explains what she is doing and why she is doing it. Super knowledgeable about the jewelry and explaining to my teenager how to properly care for his ears.
