Second time getting tattooed here and second time with Paul. Both times great experience with all staff. Scheduling and communication was great. Paul is very personable and patient to make sure you get what you want. Very inviting for someone new into the tattoo world. Highly recommended.
Love this place! Ive been here for 3 tattoos from Violet. She isnt there all the time - she travels around but I would definitely recommend her to anyone when she is in town. The shop itself is clean and friendly. Got this done in April by Violet
I had the first tattoo with Giovanna and I really loved it. I then moved to another city and had the chance back to Philly for a conference. So I booked an appointment at 4:30 PM at the last day of my visit in Philly. Next day I have to fly back to my city. So I got a business diner appointment one day before for 7:30 PM on the tattoo day and I think 3 hours will be sufficient for a small tattoo. Today, at 3:00 PM, they called me that they have to delay my appointment to 5:30PM and I told them that I cannot make it because of the business diner. They then refused to refund my 200 dollars deposit - it was not me who changed the appointment time and I have a flight the next day morning. The front desk person is very rude and yelled at me (OK, I yelled back, which was not good either). I like the artist and her work but I really dont like the front desk persons altitude. I will never come back to this place. I had called my credit company to dispute this charge. In the worse case, I loose 200 dollars, but these are not cool people. I suggest you to get your tattoos done at a more friendly place.
Paul did my 78 year old aunts first tattoo and she had a fantastic experience! He was extremely patient while she described her design. Everyone in the shop tried to make her feel comfortable, and the tattoo came out wonderfully.
Im so disappointed, i paid nearly $100 to get a smiley piercing and within 2 days, i woke up to the piercing loosened and undone in my mouth. i tried to put it back in the second i woke up and wasnt able to, so i called the parlor right at opening to ask if i could stop by. they proceeded to tell me i could come between 2-6 when the piercer is in and that if the piercing had closed up already, i would have to repay the full price of the piercing to get it re-done, which would have probably been the case as oral piercings tend to close up and heal very quickly and i would have had to wait an extra two hours to stop by. i have gotten a smiley before, and never once did it come undone, and when i have had this issue with my septum piercing, the piercer who did it was happy to re-insert and do the piercing at no extra cost since it was their fault for not tightening it sufficiently. i know piercing jewelry loosens and should be checked upon as i have and have had many different ones, but for it to come undone within 2 days is definitely the piercers fault and im genuinely so upset that i would have to pay another $70 just to rectify something that was completely out of my control. yall are capitalist pigs for that and should be considered malpractice as i easily couldve swallowed the jewelry in my sleep. its not normal for this to happen only two days after the piercing.
First tattoo I got here is ok. The second one is awful. The artist refused to put it in the location I asked for (by my heel) because it could rub off. I was in college and didnt want to lose my deposit so I followed his advice for placement. My tattoo is EXTREMELY overworked, and it took almost two years for significant scarring and pain to go away on my foot. On top of this, the image only looks right if I am flexing my foot out due to the position the artist required my foot to be in -- otherwise it is completely scrunched. I am now starting the process of removing this tattoo because its so bad.
I recently had a sibling tattoo completed by Darion. The attention to detail and cleanliness of the fine line work is fantastic. Very happy with how it came out. Would highly recommend anyone looking for fine line work to book an appointment with Darion! Otherwise, the shop was clean, had a great vibe and the staff was incredibly friendly.
I got my angel fangs here about 2 years ago by dave and i always think about how absolutely perfect the placement is. such good work!also got my bridge done, i appreciated his honesty and letting me know it probably won’t last long!
If you want a traditional style tattoo, Mike Munter is the absolute GOAT. If the tattoo was twice the cost and 5 hours away, it still would have been worth it. His 15 years of experience really shows in his work. Thanks to my tattoo from Mike, I’m at least 7% cooler.
Got a tattoo with Jenny. I had a mix up with booking and she was super flexible. Everyone in the shop was super friendly too. Great place to get a tattoo!
There isnt a better place out there for tattoos and piercings. For real. These guys know their stuff and you definitely, DEFINITELY, get your moneys worth. Gio was absolutely amazing in every single way, in both the prep and conceptualization as well as the execution of my tattoo. Her kindness and professionalism is truly top tier.I cannot recommend Hunter Gatherer, especially G as an artist, more. Thank you guys so much.
Came here with 3 other people for our first tattoos. Paul was awesome!!! He was patient and helpful with all of our questions and concerns. All the tattoos came out exactly how we wanted them. Would definitely recommend! Thanks Paul!
Darion Watt-(Artist)I have went here a few times! I wasn’t satisfied with the second time! The artist did a face tattoo that was simple, but right away I notice that it was not dark enough. She was upset and said if she go any darker it would age badly!! I was confused because I payed money for what I want and how I want it! You can barely see the tattoo on my face very blur! She finally agreed to do it over but the way she made me feel I wasn’t willing to risk her on my face again!! I had already put a deposit down and was unable to get it back so I got a different tattoo on my stomach which was another $430 +$300 for the blur face tattoo after she was done she told me to come back in a few weeks so she can darken my stomach tattoo and redo my face I was confused because my stomach tattoo was dark enough but I refuse to let her redo my face again! I was very unsatisfied and spoke with the owner no success at that point I just wanted a refund which they did not offer!! Never again I was referred by my brother but unfortunately I picked the worst tattoo artist!Darion Watt😂😩😩😩 lesson learned! My original artist looked at my face without me even saying anything and immediately said that’s going to need to be redone!! I would rather pay someone who agrees and know want! It’s really about customer satisfaction and getting what you payed for but what goes around comes around!!
Cant complain, cool atmosphere and clean place. Good tattoo artists, went originally for the friday the 13th flash tattoos. Been there multiple times since. The triangle is from Luke who has left. The dagger, cannon, swallow and Mom heart are from Mike.
Have been here multiple times to get work done by mike munter and it’s always stellar. i don’t think abstract geometric tattoos are necessarily “his thing” but he always does a killer job and his use of color is amazing. also a fun hang and a really nice guy. can’t recommend them enough!
I walked in for tragus piercing from Dave, who was wonderful and very kind! As someone with multiple piercings who didnt have any questions about care and healing it was a very fast process, but if you are new I would definitely make sure to inquire about proper piercing aftercare. Pricing was extremely reasonable ($60 including jewelry for the tragus). The space is very relaxing, and the staff were super nice. Just note piercings from Dave are cash only but they do have an ATM. Am definitely planning to return and would recommend this place to friends!
It is beyond so uncomfortable to go there. I usually dont make bad reviews but I went there recently to get a piercing done by a man and he was EXTREMELY rough and uncaring. Made unnecessary comments, was super rude, unprofessional in general. Ive gotten several wonderful piercings from this place a few years ago and Ive never received that kind of treatment, ever. Sadly I will not be going back. I understand it gets busy and sometimes youre not having a good day, but its NOT okay to be rude to a costumer. Not friendly at all and WILL make getting a new piercing not exciting anymore.
Recently came to Hunter Gatherer Tattoo for my appointment with Michael Munter, the shop was vary clean and had a great atmosphere. Michael was vary friendly and professional throughout the entire process, he did such amazing job on my tattoo exceed my expectations. Couldn’t be more happier with the outcome of my tattoo, definitely recommend checking out this shop if you looking for quality work. Thanks Michael!
Everyone at the shop was very nice and welcoming. Giovanna was the artist that tattooed me and I couldn’t be more happy with the piece. I showed her pictures of what I was interested in and she came up with a custom design. I’m in love with how it all turned out and will definitely be coming back for more.
Came in to get my first tattoo with Jenny this past weekend. Was really nervous initially but Jenny was such a gem and checked in with me throughout the process. I’m beyond happy with my tattoo and have been getting crazy compliments. Highly recommend this place.
Do NOT go here! I was very excited to get a tattoo after receiving enough money and as soon as I stepped in I instantly felt judged. I felt as if I was not welcome. You could feel the vibe clear as day. I will not make any assumptions. I asked for a medium sized tattoo that wasn’t even bigger than the PALM of my hand. It would’ve been $360-$450 because they charge by the hour apparently. I was told it would take 1/2 to 2hrs for this tattoo and was asked to make a deposit. After hearing this I had to leave and looked elsewhere. 5-10min away I find an amazing place that I felt right at. He charged me $140 with red ink and bigger than what I actually wanted! The tattoo came out amazing as well! Only took 30min :)
I have been coming here for the better part of a year now. I moved back into the city and needed a new artist; I have not been disappointed. I have had work done by two artists, and would 1000% recommend them and honestly the rest of the staff. Seeing their work and how lovely of humans they are it has made recommending them and making this shop my home shop easy!!
The venue was fantastic, the staff was friendly and nice, but a special shout-out goes to my artist: Darion, she was cooperative, understanding, respectful and shes got a great sense of humor ! Very happy with the tattoo I got and I cannot wait to work with her again !!!
Great experience and service. Scheduling and quoting was easy and painless. Dale was on point with stretching my idea and ensure I knew how to care for it. Staff were very cool and welcoming, I would def go back. The piercer was kind too, my screw back earring broke off in my ear a few months ago. He helped relieve the pain and told me how to prevent future issues as well as how I needed to care during healing
I received a navel piercing from this shop a week ago, and it is already infected. The piercer gave me after care instructions, and they were all things I should not have done. He did not give me any saline solution to take home to clean my piercing, just told me to use soap and water, and that I could use salt water. Only a week later my piercing is hurting me so bad that I can barely wear pants. I knew something was up, so I went to my regular piercer in my hometown. She said that the piercing was done incorrectly, that he used a ball way too large for my belly button, and pierced it in the completely wrong spot. And, she told me that the way he told me to clean it was incorrect as well! She was in complete shock that he did not provide me wi to a saline solution, and she said that you should never ever use soap to clean a naval piercing, only warm water and the saline. This was a waste of my money, and the piercer should be ashamed of his work. For no reason at all should my piercing be infected after a week, especially when I took care of it the way he advised to. The reason I decided to come here was because it had great reviews. The place and workers were very nice, but it’s not worth it if the quality of work they do doesn’t meet your expectations.
This place is amazing! All of the artists are talented but Mike is my favorite. Hes done 2 tatts for me so far and Ive been beyond please with his work. If you decide on this place I would ask for him.
The shop atmosphere is incredibly calming and every member of the staff is incredibly chill and friendly. Highly highly recommend Jen as an artist if youre like me and have a low pain tolerance because she is so gentle and her work is utterly incredible
The best place for tattoos and piercing in West Philly as far as Ive seen. My wife has gotten several tattoos with multiple different artists, and she and I have both gotten some piercings from David. Every time theyve been competent, knowledgeable, quick, safe, and everything else you could want from a tattoo parlor. Definitely planning on returning!
Hands down the best tattoo experience I have ever had. The shop is warm and inviting, and filled with some of the most talented tattoo artists I have ever been inked by. If you can get an appointment with Jen I 10/10 recommend working with her. Each of her pieces is absolutely unique, she is a true artist.
Great experience the piercer took me immediately made me feel really comfortable was really professional and easy going I just cant get over how cool he was. The sitting area was very eclectic and groovy, but also clean. The lady at the front desk was the same way super professional and very polite. This is a good place in my opinion but I can only speak for piercing. And when I get my next one Ill DEFINITELY be coming here!
Not a great experience. Went to get a lip jewelry reinserted after falling out a day or so ago. Piercer was pretty forceful, condescending, made passive aggressive comments about my piercing, and didnt even pause to invite me to look at the piercing work at the end. Kindness, patience and approachability are important to me in spaces like these, so I wouldnt return based off this interaction.
Shop is very calming and laid back! Staff is welcoming and friendly. Mike is awesome... patient and does amazing work! Highly recommend this shop!
I got my septum pierced a few weeks ago, they were super nice and very professional. Definitely a go to for your piercing needs, I’ll be going back soon to get a tattoo soon!
Very unresponsive. Wont return messages in a timely fashion. I woke up with covid and let them know as soon as I did. They took my deposit, the resptionist yelled at me and called me a liar. The tattoo artist didnt even respond to my text.
Everyone is super chill and professional. I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable when I arrived @ my appointment. My tat turned out great thanks to Darion ♥️♥️♥️
Every person in there was super chill, AAAND I have the sickest tattoo from Giovanna. Would go back every time.
Stopped in to get a nose piercing recently, and Dave was super helpful. I don’t have a lot of piercings, so I was a bit nervous but he was super patient with me, worked quickly and cleanly, made me feel at ease with the process, and I think I paid a very very fair price for his work. I’d highly recommend Dave to anyone looking for a piercing and will definitely stop in again if I decide on another one. Thanks!
I recently had two tattoos done by Mike and I overall had a really great experience. Before the tattooing began, Mike made sure that the stencil was on perfectly and even re-stuck it on a few times even though it was tedious. He was also really respectful as I am a young woman and he was tattooing my upper thigh, so he made a point to ask and alert me when he needed to see a certain part of my thigh or mark areas. He also showed me the tattoo equipment in the sterilization pouches before starting which I really appreciated - even the way overpriced places I had tattoos done in NYC never did that. The tattooing itself was rather fast and it came out perfectly. I was really nervous when finding someone to do these tattoos since they are largely comprised of just straight lines, which can often come out wobbly but they look awesome. The quality of work is absolutely phenomenal, and the atmosphere was really friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend coming here for a tattoo and I plan on coming back for all of my tattooing needs!
Let me preface this by saying that I am a very picky person when it comes to looking for a service that involves changing my appearance in any way. All of the body piercing shops close to me didn’t impress me, or didn’t have the best reviews. This place is about an hour away from me by bus, and the trip is worth it. So far, I’ve been here twice. Once in April to get a septum piercing, the second, a few days ago, to get a triple helix and industrial piercing. Both times I walked out heavily pleased. First off, the place is very clean, and the environment is very chill. The staff are cool as well. Over the phone and in-person, the receptionist is a lovely person. She was informative and welcoming. The piercer, Dave, was very friendly and took his job seriously. Because I was getting a few piercings in one sitting, he warned me about the bad time I could possibly have during the healing process, and made sure I was okay with everything. Throughout every step of the way of getting pierced, he got my input and made sure I was good with the placements. Before each piercing, he made sure I was okay and ready for the next. Lastly, he was very detailed when it came to explaining how to handle the healing process. Overall, very comforting and quick with the process. Not too painful either— but I do have a high tolerance for pain so that could be a thing on my part.11/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking to get pierced. Some might say the prices are too high, but I believe they’re an accurate indicator about the quality of service you’re going to receive. If you were looking to get pierced, stop your search and take this as a sign to come here.
I have gotten my lip, eyebrows and nipples pierced here. I had a great experience all 3 times. Dave is really awesome. He answers all your questions. I highly recommend this place. The receptionist was very nice as well. I definitely will be coming back to get more work done
Bro totally pierced my lip way off center but it was fun and fast
My beautiful wife Dianna has been working with Dana Jones for 3 years. Dana zones is an amazing artist and really knows what her customers want. As for the shop, very organized and very professional very, very clean. Has a good positive atmosphere. We have met two other employees. Clay who is a really cool artist and I have watched him do great work. And met another employee by the name of Sailor, who is a very unique person, very helpful with any questions. Great piercer very funny and positive attitude. I m telling you guys if your looking to get a piercing or an awesome tattoo look no further. 😎
I went to get second piercings in my earlobes. I’m the biggest chicken that ever was when it comes to needles and Matt was extremely patient and made sure I felt in control of the whole situation. He took the time to explain everything which was helpful and I stopped feeling nervous, too. He even made me focus on my breathing. I’m thinking of getting another piercing once these heal and I’ll definitely be back to see Matt. I highly recommend.
I always have a pleasant experience here! Everyone is really sweet (:
Went there Friday to get my nose pierced. Woke up this morning to find the ring completely embedded in my nose. Definitely not a pleasant feeling, when I called they informed me that nothing could be done because the piercer doesn’t come back in until Tuesday. After calling around 3 different shops, I eventually went to Infinite Body Piercing where I was told the ring was too small and it had to be removed and replaced with a longer one.
Went with a friend to get her first tattoo. The shop is comfortable, clean, and professional, and the prices seem reasonable. The artist she worked with was a little impatient about getting her to agree to the tattoo and the price, so make sure you know what you want before you go, especially if you plan to walk in without an appointment. Otherwise, he was great at explaining the process and worked quickly and efficiently. Her tattoo ended up looking great.
Really bad customer service and bad first impression. I am still new to tattoos and the lady at the front desk (black hair, lip piercing, heavy makeup) was very rude and condescending. To be fair, I was not entirely clear with exactly what I had wanted, but because I am new at this... I at least figured I could get some help. I came because I was very impressed by the reviews but unfortunately first impressions are everything. I showed her my design and respectfully told her my budget and the placement of the tattoo and the size I was looking for. She continually told me that I could not get the size that I wanted. When the other artists chimed in to see what the problem was she rudely explained that I want a 1/2“ tattoo with a $70 budget. I would have been willing to accommodate the price and raise my budget if it was necessary. But after speaking to her, I do not wish to return. I felt as if I was not being taken seriously. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere.
!ATTENTION! POC, ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE:DO NOT GO TO HUNTER GATHERER TO GET A TATTOO!Not only do they not have any black tattoo artists and as their instagram suggests, they are not as experienced with working on dark skin. I felt uncomfortable the entire time I was there which is unacceptable & unfortunate considering the amount I paid for my tattoo.
I got my septum pierced here in 2020. As the needle went in, it hurt A LOT and took a heavier hand to finish coming out the other side. There was an audible “pop” sound (the sound of cartilage being pierced, as I came to find out). We literally had to pause with the needle halfway through for me to breathe. While I appreciated the moment to reset, the septum is supposed to be quick and relatively painless.I already had my bridge pierced. I had multiple tattoos on areas that are commonly regarded as “more painful” such as my spine and sternum. I should have persisted to advocate for myself past asking “if it was supposed to hurt that much” as I was being pierced. When I had my jewelry changed a couple of months later, I was reassured that everything was still fine.If you choose to get pierced here, trust your body’s reaction. You know when someone is mishandling you. Nothing about getting pierced should be “boisterous” or forceful.I can only hope this pattern is accounted for, addressed and resolved. It hurts to have connected with other people stating they had the same problem, and those on Google being blamed for it when we were, plainly, traumatized by the piercer’s inability to consider wrongdoing on his part.I believed what I was told for an entire year, despite a septum ring that was always crooked and painful. I finally took it out and let it heal a bit before going to be re-pierced at No Ka Oi. Having my septum re-pierced the PROPER way felt pleasurable after having dealt with discomfort I had for so long. I had my jewelry changed at Infinite and the entire process was pain-free. It’s been smooth sailing ever since.I hope Hunter Gatherer will choose to grow and better their service instead of invalidating their clients and their experiences.
They were so friendly, my piercer made sure he was able to do my double tragus since I really wanted it, and we chatted a bit. The receptionist was very friendly, quick, and the entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Ill definitely be going back again in the future for some tattoos.
Got my belly button pierced here and it was so easy! The piercer was super accommodating, mindful & experienced. Everything in the shop and their procedures were very thorough and the overall feel of the place was that you are in good hands. Also- the piercing itself was super easy, I was nervous but the piercer was very professional & extremely good at his craft! He free handed it- I was worried about the clamp etc. and didn’t even know I was being pierced- so good!! The jewelry quality and selections were awesome & the prices were definitely more reasonable than shops on south street! I paid $40 compared to some stores that gave me an estimate of almost double. I’ll def be back when I get my next piercing & HIGHLY recommend! ♥️👏🏼
I was tattooed by Dana Jones tonight. She’s an awesome artist, and even before the session, I was looking forward to having her work on my arm. I enjoyed everything about the session and I’m extremely happy with how my tattoo came out. I recommend her 1000xs over. Clean shop, good crew members, and interesting artwork on the walls. Good food available in the area too, which is a nice bonus.
Dana Jones was a gem to work with. I went in for my first ever tattoo with a big idea, but didnt really know how to articulate it. She was patient and kind while we designed my custom tattoo. The finished piece was not what I imagined--it was 100 times better. She brought my idea to life and put her own touch on every little detail. I am so glad I found Dana and hope to have more of her incredible art on my body in the future!
Fantastic experience!Had a tattoo design idea in mind for a few years now, but no artistic skill to see it through. Mike was amazing at helping flesh out the idea and seeing it through to completion. Couldnt be happier with the result!Everyone at the shop was very friendly and super conscious of cleanliness.Highly recommend!
I absolutely love this shop. Firstly, when I called for my first tattoo I spoke with Katie who was super nice and really helpful. She helped me hash out the logistical details and set me up with the best artist for what I wanted. Mind you, this was my first tattoo and it was in honor of my late father. I get to my appointment with my friend, and the first thing you notice is the cleanliness and atmosphere, very relaxing and cozy. My artist was very accommodating and let my friend sit with me throughout my session. I was fairly comfy and my artist asked throughout the tattoo how I was doing or if I needed water, etc. The work he did was amazing, the line work is super clean and the shading extremely smooth. When it was time to pay up, I gave him all the money I had on me, I wish I had more to have tipped him with honestly. I went back last weekend for my second tattoo which my artist rescheduled for me without issue, and felt even more at home. I had a question regarding after care with this tattoo, and Katie walked me through it. She even asked me to repeat the process just to make sure I got every detail. Ahhhh I just love it here, cant say enough good things. Im planning to go back for a million more tattoos and piercings. A big thank you to Mike Munter, my artist, and I am really excited to plan my floral piece with Jenny!
Great shop with a comfortable, laid back atmosphere and insanely talented artists. Just got my third tattoo from HG, two by Mike years ago and the newest by Jenny. I was a little indecisive leading up to my recent piece and Jenny created exactly what I had in mind. Prices are reasonable, everyone in the shop is so friendly (major plus for those of us who get real anxious pre-tattoo), and the tattoos are stunning. Highly recommend checking them out.
My daughter and I got a tattoo for the first time at HG and it was awesome. The shop was so clean and sterile. The artist were friendly, lively and extremely professional. Their prices reflect their talent and if your a newbie you get to ring the bell on your way out. We plan to get a second tattoo soon.
Jenny is amazing! She always makes me feel so comfortable when getting tattooed. The shop always has a chill vibe, They are super clean. Im always satisfied with how the tattoo comes out, Her stippling work is beautiful. I leave with amazing art work on my body every time.
I love this! Everyone is so professional and courtesy. My experience here has always been great. All my work was done by Dana. She takes my ideas and turns them into amazing tattoos. Her work is very detailed and top notch.
Highly recommend this shop for any piercing needs. I was pretty nervous, but Dave made me feel safe, talked me through the whole thing, and was quick, clean, and thoroughly competent.
I just have to say how GREAT Dave was. He is probably the ONLY person knowledgeable and willing to change my dermal. He completely educated me and I cant wait to get another. Hes my go to for piercings from now on. Sooo pleasant. Thanks Dave! Not to mention the shop is clean and EVERYONE is welcoming.
Ive gotten several piercings done here, each time its been a great experience, a really cool atmosphere, and fair prices
A few weeks ago, on a referral from a close friend, I scheduled an appointment for my first tattoo with Mike Munter of Hunter Gatherer Tattoo at 4510 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. He is awesome. His lines are perfect and I gave him license to be creative with what I wanted and he did an outstanding job. His professionalism and attention to detail is second to none. I went back yesterday to have color added and again gave him license to use his judgement and talent to build upon what I was asking for and I could not be more pleased. Mike you are the best and I cant tell you how impressed and thankful for the work youve done. These 2 tattoos really mean a lot to me and you blew me away with your talent. Thank you so much.
Had my septum pierced by Dave and it was hands down the most professional and competent piercing experience I’ve ever had. I voiced my concerns about scar tissue from when it was done previously (and badly) as well as my fear that my nose was too far off-cerner to support the piercing. He spent a solid 10 mins figuring out where and how to do it right and then nailed it.
Dana is just awesome. Love her style and creativity. She is exactly what I was looking for. The shop has a chill vibe. Great place if you want quality work done.
Got my first tattoo here as a walk in (because I wanted a small and simple design). I came with three of my closest friends and there were couches for us to sit on while we waited. As I was getting it done, my artist calmed me down about the process and the pain that I was fearing, and also let my boyfriend sit with me for moral support. He adjusted the design to exactly how I wanted it and I fell in love with the finished look. He was also very helpful in explaining the care of it for afterwards since it was my first. Would definitely go back if I wanted another tattoo in the future.
TL;DR - I arrived for my appointment, didnt love the tattoo that was drawn for me, and the artist wouldnt make changes. Upon bringing this up to the owner of the shop, he made no effort to rectify the situation, and asked me to reconsider this review. My experience here was pretty unfortunate. I communicated with one of the artists here about my design, and put down my deposit. When I arrived for the tattoo, the design wasnt complete, and when I told the artist I couldnt visualize how it would look on my skin, she told me to just trust the process. She wasnt willing to help me visualize the design or change any of the elements I wasnt completely keen on. I had to choose between getting a tattoo that I wasnt happy with, or losing the deposit amount. If this is an artists process, fine. But that should have been outlined to me before I went through with the booking.
All around awesome place. Everyone is super nice and does great work!
Definitely a great first experience and will come back! Thank you Rae for making this a painless visit with awesome work!!!
Walk in appointment (was told to come at 7 to see an artist), Just line work. Clean/ sterile environment, calm atmosphere. Came with two friends who were able to sit with me.Honestly, it felt rushed and ended up looking very different from original/ stencil. It was like my artist just wanted to get me out of the store so he could close, which I get but just tell me to come back... it was clear he very much did not care about the work. Lines within words are running into each other and the letters are different sizes and smooshed together. The words themselves run together as well and strip the the significance of the piece I wanted in my native language. Just not a great finished product.
Got tattooed by Katy A.D. who is an amazing artist. She is kind, respectful, and just all around great to be around. So anyone that wants a tattoo I would 100% check out her artwork and get a tattoo from her!!! Great experience! Thank You!!
Mikes amazing, patient and Ive really trusted him through my first half-sleeve experience. Already thinking about other ideas for other tattoos and no other artist comes to mind...great team and atmosphere at the shop too. Highly recommend them!
A week ago I got my third tattoo done by Dana. She took her time to get the stencil just right. The tattoo itself is of the same high quality of my first two from her and the reason I continue to get tattooed by her. I will likely return for any future tattoos I get.
I got my nose pierced here. The people here were so nice. They answered all the questions I had m. I felt comfortable and welcome ☺️
Everyone there is really great. Little stressed for my first tattoo but they make you feel comfortable. Mike is super talented and the tattoo came out even better than I imagined. Thanks everyone!
I love that they make sure that youre comfortable.... I went here In August of last year to get my belly button pierced with my twin sister she wasnt as nervous as I was about getting them, but it was all worth the anxiety because they do a fantastic job of helping you calm your nerves
Got my tragus pierced and it began to bleed a lot. Blood filled my ear and I wasnt able to hear. The guy said it was normal so I thought nothing about it. However, after some time it continued to bleed and I still couldnt hear. After about 24 hours of not being able to hear I began to get nervous. Luckily, I put hydrogen peroxide in my ear, and eventually, I was able to hear. I didnt want to blame the piercing place since it was my own blood that filled my ear but after a few weeks, the piercing RIPPED out of my ear when I was simply putting my hair up in a ponytail and now I have a chunk missing out of my tragus. I decided to go to another piercing place to get my other tragus pierced and the person there told me it is not normal for a tragus piercing to bleed and when I got it redone on the other side it did not bleed at all. Overall, as someone who has had 10+ piercings, I would never go here again.
Very friendly people. A great vibe, the people here know what theyre doing. Personally went in for a bent and broken captive ring I couldnt fix myself, as it was still healing and rather painful. The piercer fixed it free of charge and gave me tips for future piercings. Barely felt more than a pinch, meaning he put in extra effort to be careful. Note: transactions are CASH or VENMO.
The shop has a nice vibe and Dana was great to work with. She carried out my idea (for a bird and flower tattoo) flawlessly.
First timers beware!I was overcharged by $100, my artist was Dale. Upon contacting the owner, they lied to me about charging the additional $100 and said i only paid $150. I paid $250 for a 3x1 inch tattoo. They are refusing to take responsibility. Bad business practice
Went in for a walk-in piercing on a trip to Philadelphia. I had gotten a dermal on my cheekbone done by Dom, and he was very gentle and careful. Very kind staff, very welcoming shop.
I only go here for my piercings . Dave answers any and all of my questions. Hes very professional and knows what he is doing hes always happy and willing to help and explain things. Im glad I found him
Katy A.D. did a fantastic job taking my drawing, keeping true to my intended original design, fixing the parts I wanted to fix, and really nailing the subtle detail changes that were needed to make it a clean, sharp tattoo. Nice lineweights, clean work, good placement.
Clean and professional. All the artists make you feel very comfortable and welcome. They have your best interests at heart when helping you design a tattoo. Incredible work as well.
Went here twice, awful experience both times, the people just stared and frowned at me until I said something (and even after). I have six piercings and a tattoo, Im not new. I came because of the good reviews and would have thought the first time was a fluke but to have such terrible customer service twice...Im just glad I didnt end up getting work done there.
If you need a piercer in philly plz go to dave at hunter and gatherer tattoo he is genuinely the best i feel so comfortable getting pierced by him and literally none of my piercings from this place so far have had any issues. 10/10 ily dave
Got a great tattoo from Jenny. The shop is clean and friendly. Jenny was really nice, helpful, and talented! She gave me a piece of art I can show off.
Got a piercing here, it was super quick and easy. Everyone was very professional and friendly, and they take cleanliness very seriously. I definitely recommend!
Went for a Friday the 13th tattoo. Clay was super professional and awesome. Took his time to make sure I was comfortable, understood everything and was happy. Overall great experience
So, so pleased I chose HGT for my latest ink. My artist, Dana, made sure I was well taken care of and did a STELLAR job setting up my ink. Really couldn’t be happier (plus, the pricing was extremely reasonable).
Dana Jones did my first tattoo. She took a lot of time making the tattoo perfect for me. I told her everything I wanted and she made it better than I ever could have imagined. Before she started tattooing she answered all my questions and concerns. Dana did a beautiful job on the first half of my tattoo, she stayed over time to work on it. When we were done for the day I almost passed out, but her and her co workers all helped me. One got me water, one got me a sugar tablet and the rest held me in case I passed out. All the tattoos and piercers are hunter gatherer are professional, talented and friendly. I would definitely recommend people go here
Very efficient artist. Piecing Artist I apologize for not remembering your name(you pieced the 62 year old eyebrow on her daughters birthday) He took the time and talk me through the whole experience. It went so fast .A pinch and it was over. Thank you!!
Dana was super nice and gave me a gorgeous tattoo. Really went above and beyond to make the best design possible. Could not be more happy with how the tattoo came out.
The artists here are amazing and the vibes are excellent. Everyone is not only super talented but a joy to around as well
I got two cartilage piercings and my second nose piercing here, done by Dave. I absolutely recommend coming here. It has easily been one of the best experiences Ive had in this industry
Love coming here! Great vibes, staff is awesome and i always am happy when i leave. constantly recommending to friends and family
Great place, very accommodating of walk ins but also very customer focused so that youre going to get exactly what you want. I also highly reccomend the piercings, the girl who does them is very professional and knowledgable!
My sister and I went in for walk in tattoos and the artist Clay answered all our questions and the art turned out wonderful. Great experience and would definitely recommend.
Amazing place and very friendly! I got my first tattoo here by Dana, and overall was a great experience and Im very happy with how it turned out.
First time ever getting a tattoo. They made super sure everything was right before starting. Very friendly service. Got exactly what I paid for.
Dana did my half sleeve and not only is her artwork amazing, but she does a great job working with you and getting your tattoo designed and fit on your body.
Mike Munter did a phenomenal job and fixed up an old tattoo that someone else did just for the hell of it. He did a great job playing with the design with me and making sure it would look badass. I will be back!
Scheduled a dermal removalI forgot his name, but he has long curly hair11/10 made a terrible procedure a cool time
Great visit! The piercer was very professional. Everything was clean and you could tell they are taking COVID very seriously.
Cozy and small shop in a good location. Awesome artists working here. They are all really welcoming and will give you their best work every time.
Absolutely love this place for tattoos, I gotten my first tattoo here which was my crybaby tattoo I would totally anyone to come here😊
While waiting to get piercings here, two of the artists working at this shop assaulted a houseless neighbor, wildly escalating a minor incident. I walked out and will not return.
Awesome shop. The piercing guy is so nice and helpful. Great work!
Super cool atmosphere, really kind people. Will be coming back for more piercings in the future!
Very accommodating and highly skilled staff. Workspace is small, and as such is more intimate and less private during sessions.
Super sweet, helpful staff! Honestly the most chill, painless experience I’ve had with a piercer.
Still love my tattoo.... would go back if I was in philly....walked in off the street and got my favorite tattoo so far. Need more. Thank you guys.
Came in with an idea. The artist elaborated on it and added some ideas that made it better than I could’ve imagined. Turned out absolutely incredible. Five stars all day.
Jen is amazing! She is such a crazy talented artist. Thank you Jen!!!
In April I had my pierced done by Dave ty will be coming back again
Quick easy piercing will definitely go back for more with great helpful staff
Happy with my dermal piercing! Dave is the man!
They told me their minimum rate was $200 and that’s too expensive
The piercer was nice and knowledgeable. My nipple piercings look awesome!
The pieces are always well done by every artist. Mike did these little guys.
The workers need to learn how to be a bit more warmer, an to not rush paying customers. However the receptionist is very sweet an pleasant
Great place! I go to Clay and Im happy with everything hes done on me
Amazing skill and precise hand work... awesome group of people... indefinitely going back for more ink.
Great shop experience with some very kind folks.
Ask for Clay he always does great traditional work. Highly recommended.
Very professional. I watched my daughter and was made to feel very comfortable w everything. Thank you
I did not like the customer service and I think they racist. They had a small bathroom.
