I had an amazing experience with Shenise when I got my tattoo a few weeks ago! She was so nice from the very beginning, and asked me if I was nervous about getting my tattoo. I told her I had anxiety about it and she went through everything with me step by step and made me feel very comfortable and talked to me the entire time! I would definitely recommend her to anyone and will be coming back for all my future tattoos!

I got a tattoo from Gianna back in May and would definitely recommend her! I was really nervous about not seeing the design before I arrived, but she did a great job interpreting my description and had a few variations prepared so she could make some quick, minor adjustments. I appreciated that she encouraged me to take my time to make sure I was happy with the design and placement and communicated clearly through the whole process. The result is so delicate and lovely, exactly what I hoped for!

Amazing amazing spot. Me and my friend went in for a walk in and I ended up getting this. I went to Mimi. She is so amazing and experienced and made us both feel super comfortable in there she’s so chill and easy to talk to. The original tattoo I showed her was very different and she completely changed the clouds to what she thought would look better. I trusted her and it came out phenomenal. Couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to get my full arm sleeve done with her in the future. Very highly reccomended.

Mimi was great. It was my first tattoo and it went so smoothly. Paid great attention to detail and it came out exactly how I wanted it to. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get some work done. Will be coming back to her to get my next project done.

I am so in love with my new tattoo!! I had a pretty simple design I wanted done so went and they had a walk-in appointment available! I worked with Gianna and she took the time to make sure every detail was right and did a beautiful job with a fine line tattoo. The dots and lines are clean and I am so happy with how it turned out.

This shop is amazing! The owners Shenise and Jose are so kind and incredibly skilled. Each artist has such unique style, so you can always find the right custom designer for you. The shop is immaculately clean and they take it so seriously, you feel so safe coming here knowing they’re doing everything the right way without cutting corners. I’ve had two custom designs done across 3 visits and each time has been nothing short of stellar.

I got one tattoo in May of 2023 (photo added) and 3 small tattoos in December of 2023, all done by Hal and I could not be happier. They were done with so much detail and she made sure to adjust all of the requests while respecting my wants annd placement with my original design. We had wonderful conversation while she was tattooing me and I was SO happy with the results. After going 2 other places for fine line tattoos, I will not go anywhere else!

Hal is the best! She has done 4 of my tattoos. The shop is super clean and welcoming. The owner provided me with suggestions on a cover up and Hal executed the design with great skill and care! My husband and I will be back again…next appointment already booked!

The owners were great! Jose did my first tattoo ever and he made it such a fun and comfortable experience. he totally got my vision and every time I look at it, Im happy. I got to chat with some apprentices before and it was overall a great time for me. Im planning on heading back for my next with them soon!

After a 20+ year gap in tattoo, I went in for a new one based on a friend’s recommendation. I’ve already been back once, brought my niece for her first piece, and have another appointment coming up soon. Four tattoos in six months says a lot about the artist, and a lot about the shop too. The team at Fox and Fable are universally welcoming and professional, the shop is spotless and somehow feels cozy. I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asks (and to people who don’t actually ask, too!).

I cannot recommend Fox & Fable enough. The energy of the studio is so welcoming and all of the artists are so helpful and kind. I’ve been to Maara twice now and their work is gorgeous. She made me feel so comfortable and was so nice to chat with.

I never have anything but great things to say about this shop and the people working out of it. Jose and Shenise have cultivated a wicked awesome shop filled with cool art and even cooler artists. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jose for a few years now and have been tattooed by him as well as several other of the shop’s artists. They are funny, kind-hearted people with a lot of love to give. They are also some of the most understanding tattoo-ers I have ever met, accommodating and extremely helpful if things go wrong (I.e. hitting traffic or anything life throws at you). Keep up the amazing work you guys!

Although I did not get a tattoo there , I still had a great experience. I had thought I had a confirmed appointment, when I did not (I had not yet received a confirmation email and had thought the initial email was the confirmation) so, I was not able to get my tattoo done -understandably. I ended up going to another place because I wanted it done for Mother’s Day weekend. The shop owner kindly gave me back my deposit, when I believe it was non refundable. The staff was very kind and easy to work with my mistake . And, their work looks great !

I absolutely love this tattoo shop! The atmosphere is calming and relaxing and the tattoo artists are incredibly talented. I love fine line tattoos and am so excited to have found a shop close to home. I was tattooed by Gianna and she was so wonderful to work with. She explained the whole process in detail and created a design that perfectly matched my vision. I highly recommend checking them out!

My last tattoo artist closed down his shop with no notice at all, I was worried about finding someone close and reasonably priced and thankfully I ended up finding this studio TikTok, I went in for a walk-in with Maara, I was a little hesitant to go to a new artist but after they were done with my tattoo I will definitely be coming back for any other tattoo I want in the future! The studio as a whole just has a great atmosphere, and as a trans man I don’t think I’ve felt as comfortable in a public space than I did here. Awesome job Maara and I can’t wait to get my next tattoo here!

Very satisfied with my first tattoos. My artist Hal was kind, patient, and very skilled! The staff are pleasant and the place is super clean. If I want more tattoos I will be going back here. I highly recommend.

Ive worked with Halisha for a couple of fine line pieces. Halisha is amazing. Ive truly enjoyed the experience of working with her and am looking forward to a sleeve from her in the near future. Shes a great human and great artist. I love the atmosphere of the shop and the other artists around her are cool. Hal has a customer for life.

I had a very meaningful tattoo done at Fox & Fable by the fabulous Shenise in Aug 2022. Her fine line work is bar none, it healed beautifully and it makes me happy everyday when I see my little bird family. Absolutely wonderful experience here! I had a tattoo done by Gianna, and she was incredible! I have gotten tattoos from both Shenise and Jose and they are both gorgeous. They are very skilled and professional while maintaining a comfort and safety level their clients deserve. They listened to me and designed works in their styles which suited my needs. Chatting with them over the many hours of tattooing I’ve had in fox and fable is lovely. They respect their art but never make you feel like they think they are better than you. 12/10 (the shop is also so beautiful)

I normally don’t really leave reviews ever for anything but studio deserves 5+ stars. Everyone is so kind and welcoming, definitely is an inclusive studio. I had the amazing opportunity to be tattooed by apprentices Maara and Gianna, who both were absolutely amazing, friendly, supportive, and very vocal about the tattoo process and what to expect. All I have to say is I’ve only gotten two tattoos here, but it feels like I’ve been coming here for years. Definitely recommend to anyone searching to add a little bit of art to their body.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I see Gianna and have been for a year or so now, but everyone there is super friendly, kind, and never makes me feel uncomfortable or silly for my tattoo choices (this has happened to me at other shops). The artistry is incredible, and the quality of service is exemplary. Cant wait to go back!

Professional, friendly, welcoming-- and wonderful to see so many women artists!!!I got my first tat at 18, second at 21, and 3rd (today) at age 50-- all were personal milestones with very personal tattoos. Todays ink was SOOOOOO special: a custom-designed dragon from Maara who so PERFECTLY captured the essence I was going for in dragon symbolism: wisdom, dignity, beauty, power, fierce, nurturing, intelligent, heartfelt.As my late father-in-law would say (a professional artist in painting): the simpler to art, the harder it is to do. This art from Maara is *exactly* that, and I couldnt possibly be happier.Maara advised me on size and placement, explained everything clearly, and did so with such an open, easy energy. (btw, dont let the apprentice status deter you-- thats based on a timeline, and its clear that Fox & Fable only bring in those who deliver).Im so happy with my latest ink-- I cant stop looking at it!! I am SO happy with my tattoo from Maara! Truly the most comfortable tattooing experience I’ve had in terms of the atmosphere/culture of the studio and Maara’s demeanor and kindness. Also helps that they have a light hand! I’ll be back for sure.

I had one of my first tattoos done by Shenise and can’t say enough good things about my experience. The shop has an extremely welcoming atmosphere and all the staff are professional and knowledgeable. Shenise and I spoke about how I found out about their shop on Tiktok and before I knew it, my tattoo was finished (in about half an hour)! If you’re looking for a shop that does all kinds of styles (traditional, abstract, fine line, text, etc.), I can’t recommend the Fox and Fable enough! Also the location in Reading is very close to the commuter rail so it makes the trek from North Station incredibly easy.

I had my first tattoo done by Shenise last year and cannot say enough good things about my experience! She walked me through each step of the process without being at all condescending, which is something I was nervous about considering it was my first tattoo! She was thoughtful, kind, easy to talk to, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The studio was clean and private, and Shenise had Disney and Marvel movies playing the whole time which was an added bonus :)

Gianna did a teeny delicate ear tattoo for me. I made the appointment online just the day before but had reached out via IG a few months before to ask if she’d be able to do it how I wanted. When I arrived, I asked if she’d be able to add something on to the original design but she explained that my ear didn’t have enough room very professionally and talked about different ear shapes etc. Gianna drew the tattoo on and we checked it out together before she tattooed it on. The space was clean and cozy, and Gianna explained all steps of the process while she was completing them. The tattoo was quick and she explained aftercare succinctly before we finished up. Looking forward to getting more work done here in the future, I recommend both Gianna and Fox & Fable!

I loved going to The Fox & Fable. The shop is so welcoming, no intimidating music and so many smiling faces with touches of each artist all over the shop.Gianna did my tattoo and it was exactly what I wanted. She took her time with me finding the right placement and perfect sizing, she was so patient and gentle through the process. The other artists that were there during my appointment were so friendly and welcoming. This is the first shop Ive seen thats done beautiful fine line work around here. This wasnt my first tattoo but Gianna really made me feel at ease. Ill definitely be back for another tattoo.

I had an amazing experience with Maara - they were ready to go when I got to the shop, showed me the beautiful design they’d drawn up for me, worked with me on size/positioning, and during the process they were professional, funny, supportive, and put down a beautiful piece of art on my arm! Shenise tattooed this beautiful robin on my arm last month, and it has to be my favorite tattoo that I have. I’m so happy with how it came out, and it healed so well. I’ve had other tattoos where the area was so sore, but the machine she used caused minimal trauma to the skin leaving me with almost no pain or soreness. The shop is so clean and decorated so well. I felt so comfortable there, and I knew I would be able to trust Shenise with my tattoo. I can’t wait to go back for my next one!

I had my first tattoo with Shenise at the Fox & Fable in the summer of 2022, and my second later that year. I cant say enough good things about her, her work, and the overall visit. Shes kind, patient, and made the experience so low-stress that even with my overall anxiety, I was super relaxed. The tattoos came out beautifully and healed well, and even almost 2 years later still look awesome (fine line tattoos are prone to wonkiness and these are still gorgeous.) I will 1000% be back for another one as soon as her books open!

Maara was my artist and she was incredible. From providing a comfortable, safe and communicative experience, to perfecting my tattoo vision, allowing me the time and edits to make sure I’m in love with it - she made the entire experience so soo lovely! I am blown away by how amazing the tattoos I got from Shenise were. Both times she nailed size and placement on the first try and the first was really painless and quick—only took an hour and I was expecting two! The second time was a larger piece and although it hurt, Shenise did everything she could to make it as comfortable as possible. She was so kind, professional, and clean, and I am OBSESSED with my tattoos. I cannot stop looking at them! Thank you Shenise for bringing my vision to life!

Wow. Wowee-wow. Let’s start from the beginning (as with any great experience). Shenise and Jose hosted an incredibly fun grand opening on Halloween (costume-themed!!) where I (and my friends) got to know them— fun artists that made me feel my ideas were valid. They’re so open and un-intimidating, making the whole tattoo experience fun and incredibly, (emphasized: INCREDIBLY) easy. They’re not only amazing artists (Shenise’s absolutely breath-taking, detailed creations she inked while I was there. Jose’s multifaceted designs make me itch to cover every inch of my skin in ink!), but really great people (they’re easy to talk to and made me feel just. Incredibly comfortable and PUMPED to get my tattoo). I got my first (definitely NOT last) neck piece and feel just… Really, /really/ powerful. It’s amazing what tattoos can do!An hour piece felt like 20-30 minutes. Yeah, it hurt, but it’s the neck. It’s bound to hurt, but Jose’s careful, precise lining and shading made it feel like no sweat. No biggie! He hyped me up every step of the way! I can’t wait to get tatted again. They’re my go-to artists from now on, man!

This was my first tattoo and Maara was amazing! My sister and I got matching tattoos and the whole experience was very calm and affirming. Marra explained every aspect of the tattoo before it happened and I felt comfortable the entire time. I cannot recommend this place more especially if it is your first time getting a tattoo. Things are healing well and the definition of the tattoo is perfect.

The placement of my tattoo was so tricky, but both Shenise and Jose worked at it to make sure we got it exactly right! The tattoo turned out beautifully and I’m so happy with it. I will definitely be going back for more!

I kind of don’t want to leave this review because then the secret is out! I had a small fine line tattoo done by Gianna and I can not express how happy I am. To the point that I wished I had had an older tattoo done by her too. Fine line is hard to find and this little shop in Reading, MA is hidden gem. Gianna was so professional, kind and talented. I got a sacred geometry tat done so though it didn’t need any design work it is still perfect and exactly what I wanted. She did do a custom piece for my friend and it was exactly what she envisioned. I would highly highly recommend The Fox and Fable and especially Gianna (and Maara who did my other friend and let me tell you this chick is talented too)!

My tattoo appointment with Gianna was amazing! She created a beautiful realistic firefly design for me and was able to make some changes that I requested at the time of the appointment. Choosing the placement has always been a challenge for me, but Gianna helped decide the best sizing and placement options and let me sit with the stencil on for a few minutes to make sure I really loved the placement. Besides creating my new favorite tattoo, Gianna also touched up an older handwriting tattoo (done originally by another artist) and did an amazing job giving it the final touch up that it needed. Will definitely be coming back for my next tattoo!

The shop was beautiful and clean. Jose was amazing and so talented. I met him 2 years ago when he did the outline of my sleeve and followed him to his new shop. The tattoo is coming out better than I ever imagined.

My daughter and I had matching feather tattoos done by Giana. Neither of us had ever had a tattoo before. Giana was very good at explaining the process as well as making sure we were completely comfortable with the design and the placement. She answered every question and made herself very available for future questions if the need arose. My daughter sent photos ahead of our appointment to Giana but was even happier with the design Giana created from those photos then the photos themselves. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend The Fox and Fable and Giana to anyone.

I got tattooed by Gianna yesterday. It had been several years since my last and I already can’t wait to go back. The shop was clean and welcoming. Gianna had a great sketch ready for me to review based on the online form. She was very patient at showing me different ways of editing it to my liking, picking placement and I played around with the sizing of stencils for a bit. I did not feel rushed and all of my questions were answered. Great experience and extremely talented at what she does!

Halisha did absolutely amazing! Everyone was so nice and I felt so welcomed! Halisha printed so many sizes of what I wanted and did some with and without shading to give options and she was so easy and great to work with! I will 100% be going back for my next ones!

I had the best experience at the Fox and Fable tattoo shop, especially with Gianna! It was so easy and quick to have an appointment, they are always available to answer any questions and in such a short delay! Honestly the best tattoo shop I’ve ever been to. I have a sleeve done by Shenise and it’s so perfect- exactly what I wanted and more!! Everyone here is so nice and welcoming, I’ve never felt more comfortable in a tattoo shop.

I seriously cant say enough GOOD about my experience here, specifically with Shenise. I am writing my review a year later to attest to the longevity of the work she did.First off, before my appointment, I sent in a few reference photos for inspiration, but didnt have an exact idea. When Shenise turned her tablet around to show me the design she came up with, I said I need that on my body! Its like she went inside my brain and took all the elements I liked most and put them together :) She clearly puts a lot of time and thought into the process.The studio itself is great. Its warm and inviting, with lots to look at. Its clean and very well kept.My tattoo was done quickly and, to my surprise, pretty painlessly. She has a very light hand which made it easy to sit still. Since it was my first tattoo, she even did a small test line to show me what it would feel like, which put me at ease so much! She also was very clear and concise about the after care instructions, which were easy to follow.A year later, my tattoo looks amazing (see my photo attached!). I get compliments on it all the time, and still get a spark of joy whenever I look down at it! Thank you, Shenise and the rest of the team at Fox and Fable, cant recommend you enough!

I did a bit of research before deciding where I would get my first new tattoo in 20 years. Halisha at The Fox & Fables work was consistently top notch. They did a great job with fine line work that I saw through Instagram.As you can see with my color tattoo, Halisha did another fantastic job!As for the studio itself, it was very clean, had a bit of a homey atmosphere and was comfortable to spend a few hours in while I got my tattoo done.The biggest recommendation I can give though is that my soon to be 18 year old daughter will be visiting the Fox & Fable (and Halisha) for her first tattoo.

I had the pleasure of getting tattooed by Gianna. Once Gianna confirmed my inquiry I got to book for the following day! I was psyched. Gianna was so attentive and provided me with two versions of my request. It was exactly what I was looking for and I couldn’t be happier with my new tattoo. I’ve gotten multiple tattoos by Maara, she does such a great job explaining her process before she get started, during the tattooing, and about what aftercare needs to be done. She always answers any questions I have and I appreciate that she always checks in to make sure you’re comfortable or if you need anything. Hal recently did two tattoos for me at once and it was far and away the best tattoo experience I have ever had. I booked the appointment months in advance and showed up on tattoo day and Hal had multiple sizes and options for each tattoo. She helped advise me on sizing and the whole experience was fun and dare I say relaxing. I cant wait to add more!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at The Fox and Fable tattoo shop. From the minute I filled out the inquiry form the customer service was impeccable. I was tattooed by the apprentice Gianna, she was very communicative with me and my design. When I showed up for my appointment the shop is so welcoming all of the artists had smiles and went over all the forms and what to expect. Gianna turned a memorial tattoo idea into something I’m going to love forever. I cannot wait to go back and get some more ink.

In short, felt unvalued, disappointed and a sense of unprofessionalism. Came a long ways to see Dahlia for a consultation. Really liked her work and the studio. She never showed up. During the 3 hours I was there waiting, I overheard Gianna and Maara talk about how its not uncommon for Dahlia to be frequently late to her appointments and for Seven to have his clients wait on him as well. Sounded like the theme here was that the customers time isnt all that important at this studio. Dahlia was nice enough to schedule a facetime consultation and did work with me for a couple of times for a cover up I had wanted. I didnt want to be overbearing and allowed plenty of ample time for responses but had attempted to reach out to her two more times and never got a response. Was more than willing to wait or schedule another consultation if needed to discuss best course of action but I got nothing. All I asked was some simple communication such as Hey im too busy or Lets schedule for another consul and talk it out some more. I missed out on using my birthday coupon and was incredibly disappointed in the overall experience with this studio as I was very much looking forward to getting a lot more work done by them this year.

Gianna of The Fox & Fable is an awesome artist to work with! She explained everything, was super professional, and also very chill. This tattoo shop is well-lit, airy, and very relaxed. Ive already scheduled my next ink because I enjoyed the experience so much!

Maara was amazing and I loved the tattoos she did for me! She was very kind and made sure you were comfortable. From the decor, coffee bar and snacks they have for their customers was very welcoming along with friendly staff. I felt like I was a friend hanging out. Will definitely be going back!

I had Gianna tattoo two pieces, one on each forearm. The shop is clean and welcoming with a cool witchy arty vibe and LGBTQ friendly. Gianna had prepared some drawings based on what I submitted through the jotform appointment request (so make sure your reference art is close to what you want!) and mocked up templates in a few sizes for place. She was detail oriented about making the placement symmetrical and the sizes of my tattoo pairings were perfect. Her line work is tight and she’s pretty quick, faster than her quoted time. I had such a great time and can’t wait to go back!

I had the best tattoo experience I have ever had here yesterday. I felt super comfortable the second I walked in. Jose did my tattoo and I am absolutely in love with it. I had been looking for an artist to draw up my idea for months and Jose did just that, when I first saw the sketch it was nothing like I imagined but exactly what I wanted. I never review but felt I had to share my experience. I booked with Shenise and was incredibly excited to get a floral piece done. A week before my appointment I was told she was unavailable but that she could get me in earlier.After booking for the earlier appointment, I got a text less than an hour canceling me again. I completely understand that emergencies come up but I never once received an apology even from the first cancellation even after being incredibly kind over text.When I went to look at her instagram, I noticed I was blocked from both her personal page and the shops page. If there truly was a family emergency, how did she have time to block me on socials?All of the texts and email exchanges I was nothing but kind. Canceling twice, and less than an hour before the appointment, is unprofessional. Although her work is incredible, it’s not worth feeling disrespected and mistreated.

The look and presentation of the shop itself speaks volumes about the artists! It was not only warm and welcoming from beginning to end, both Shenise and Jose are very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole experience.One of the best artists for his craft! Jose is highly professional and extremely passionate about his work! His custom designs are beautifully unique and I couldnt be more honored to be able to have several of his pieces tattooed.

Had to wait several months to get an appointment with Shenise but it was SO worth it! One of the best tattoo experiences I’ve had - she took time to collaborate with me and create a piece we both love. I get compliments constantly on how beautiful the line work is.

Unfortunately I had a poor customer service experience with this business. I had booked tattoo appointments for my sister and myself with a guest artist. As recommended from the shop’s directions on Instagram, I booked the appointment via direct message with the artist in June. I paid my deposit in June and confirmed the appointment in July. Tonight we showed up at our appointment time and we were told they had double booked the appointment and could no longer do our tattoos. They refunded my deposit but I had gotten a babysitter and drove 1.5 hours for this appointment. Needless to say, very disappointing. I had been so excited about getting a tattoo here.Update: Coming back to update my review to 5 stars. Would be 10 if I could! Shenise went out of her way to rectify the situation! She did our tattoos today, did an amazing job and was such a nice person! I’ve been wanting this tattoo for years and it came out perfect. I will absolutely come back again. Thank you so much for being a kind human, Shenise!

Shenise is amazing, I could not recommend this studio enough! I got a tattoo on my ribcage and she was so insightful and considerate about placement. I am so happy with my piece. It works so well with tattoos Ive gotten from other artists, but its still very unique and done in her style of fine line tattoos. And for a rib tattoo, it didnt hurt half as much as I expected because Shenise has a really light, quick hand! I am so obsessed with my little cloud tat!

I had never been to a tattoo convention before and was a little nervous about messaging an artist to get work done but Shenise was literally the sweetest peach I couldve ever asked for! I brought my mom with me because she designed the tattoo and José allowed her to use his iPad to finalize the design and ensure we used my moms handwriting. His partner in the studio was also incredibly sweet, welcoming and created an anxiety free environment. I’ve already recommended José to two friends!

Everyone here has tattooed me at least once now! I love all of them. They are a safe place for anyone who wants to get a tattoo, they are warm and inviting and you feel well taken care of when you are with them.

I have over 7+ fine line tattoos and they’ve never faded or needed touching up- my recent 2 tattoos from this shop have almost completely faded and they don’t offer touch ups after a month of getting it done, other artists I’ve worked with have offered free touchups for 10+ years not so happy with the results. Went back through my messages and saw no mention of a 30 day period for my touchups- as i said before with 10 other artists I’ve worked with they offer free touchups for 10 years+ and i have tattoos in the same location that hasn’t faded from other artists. Owner mentioned that I sent people to harass them but have absolutely no idea what they are talking about I have no problem with them selling crystals as it’s a growing market. The problem isn’t the crystals it’s the tattoos
