American Pride Tattoos Rochester

I just brought my sister here to get a helix piercing. I called prior to showing up and was told walk-ins are welcome until 7:30pm. After driving 30 MINUTES, I walked in at 6:50pm and the young woman stated she was too tired to pierce because she had so many people. I have never encountered this type of situation at any tattoo shop and I am completely disgusted with the service. I definitely will not be back. At the end of the day, honor what you tell your customers.

I had a disappointing experience at this tattoo shop, particularly as a person of color. It felt like customers who are melanated are treated as less important. Meanwhile, if youre not a minority you will receive a red carpet experience as did the two couples next me. The tattoo artists seem to have God complexes, often playing on their Nintendo Switches without even looking at customers when customers are asking them questions. Overall, this is a mediocre tattoo shop with terrible customer service and artists who lack emotional intelligence. Ironically, the tattoo parlor is called American Pride, but despite serving in the military for over 10 years, I guess I’m not American enough for common courtesy and decent customer service.

Amber is so friendly and professional! The shop is very clean and I was able to get a walk in piercing done within 10 minutes.

It bums me out to have to write this review. I had a pretty intricate tattoo completed by an artist here. I spent quite a bit of money and tipped 30/40% on each visit. After it healed I reached out to have some spots touched up. There is some shading off, and some outlines are too light. I have reached out numerous times and the artist will not respond to me. I reached out via instagram, with no response. and via his texts….with no response. I called some time ago, and they told me to reach out to him through instagram, he still never responded. Its unprofessional and a shame. I have more work I wanted done, and will go somewhere else and cannot recommend.

Sara Marie did an awesome job on my 4ths! It barely hurt and they healed great! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

This was my best piercing experience to date! Got my lip pierced and it was quick, professional, and very clean. Then my 6-year-old daughter got her ears pierced. She was so excited to have pierced ears but was scared of the pain. The piercer was SO gentle, very focused on her consent, and was so patient with making her comfortable. Ultimately, she was so happy with her pierced ears. Highly recommend for lobe piercings for children or any piercing for adults

I had gotten one of my tattoos done with my mom and I know it’s a little late but the color and everything looks great still here are some pictures of our experience. It was amazing thank you guys for being friendly my old regular customers and amazing people in general I suggest this place for any tattoo you would like to get. Walked in and the guy didn’t even acknowledge me until i was stood there for 5 minutes.. had a snippy attitude with me and told me 2 small word tattoos would be $200.. went down the street and got 3 small tattoos for $100

Trigger warning mention of blood. I got my septum and my nostril done at this place and it was really good. Yet, I don’t hate this place, but I recently got my snake bites pierced and don’t get me wrong they were in informative and nice. One of the piercings was gushing blood out of the blue blood for 4 1/2 hours before I was able to go into urgent care.(it started at night) They had to cut it off and then said that they pierced through an artery. I’m rlly not mad at this place and I’m not trying to be rude, but just warning anyone who gets snake bites there.

Kat was awesome. This was both of our first tattoos and she made us feel comfortable and was really helpful when we had questions. And Amber was great at the front desk too. Overall great experience and would recommend Kat as an artist!

My husband and I just got tattoos here’s and had the best time! Christian and AJ were so friendly and the lines on my lightning bolt are perfectly straight. ⚡️My husband is already planning his next tattoo here.

After going to three other places and being rejected, Jen said yes. She didnt try to talk me out of it or changed my mind. I explained to her what I wanted and showed her. Hour-and-a-half she was ready. The shop is well-lit and updated. Unlike the previous three which look like dungeons. The lines are clean and my tattoo looks beautiful. Thanks again Jen.

I scheduled a tattoo here after reading the great reviews. My first appointment had to be rescheduled because they double booked me during another client. Then I was out of town during the rescheduled appointment so I asked them to reschedule me again. I was told by the front desk that the artist was working on a client and that he would call me back to reschedule my appointment. It’s been a couple weeks now and the artist never called. The only reason I give them two stars is because I got my nose pierced here and the piercer is nothing but friendly and professional.

Just got 4 butterflies done by Marlee.. Beautifully done!Already gotten many compliments and its only been one day!The shop is professional and clean. Loved the experience they are cool people.Will be back!

I just got my septum done with AJ on a walk in, and was literally in and out within 15 minutes or so. I am a massive baby especially with nose pain, and after noticing how tense I was and chatting for a few to chill me out, AJ walked me through the placement, specific anatomy of my nose and how the end result will look, even how much and what kind of pain to expect which he was spot on with the description of someone flicking your nose on a cold winter day, sanitized everything and walked me through each step of the piercing. Pricing was beyond reasonable for the clean, efficient friendly work they do and Im in love with the result. Within 5 minutes of walking in it felt like going to an old friend. Highest, highest recommendation to AJ and this location!

I got two piercings done here: my septum, and my industrial. my septum is too low in the nose, but i at least didn’t have any healing issues. my industrial is SO misaligned, with the second piercing too shallow, that i have to remove the jewelry and let it heal to get it redone by someone who knows what they’re doing. pictures below, i put in two separate earrings to show the misaligned angles. it hasn’t healed in the two years i’ve had it, despite keeping to a cleaning schedule and caring for it like my own baby. i love the look of the industrial, but i wouldn’t recommend coming to american pride tattoos for piercings. two friends also reached out to me and let me know they also had piercings done here and both had to take them out and get them redone bc american pride messed both of them up (a helix and a nose stud).

I called in and they said I could walk in to get an earring replaced. I came in and the place was well kept and they had a variety of jewelry to offer. The guy at the front desk even replaced my piercing for me after my purchase. It was completely painless and he was very professional. 10/10 would recommend coming here! (:

Great customer service and very high quality piercings. I have gotten 4 body piercings so far, and I have had minimal issues with them. The price is very reasonable, considering the great environment and the excellent service they provide.

Amazing, I took my 5 year old daughter to get her ears pierced for her birthday. We had such a great experience. The piercer had her laughing and it was done so quickly. Took me as a walk in for my navel piercing. Quick and easy, barely even hurt, and even the person who did my piercing even gave me kind advice about using a retainer during nursing school. :) Would definitely go back for another piercing.

AJ did my second lobe piercings today and he was so nice! I get nervous easily and he was very patient with me. He did an amazing job with my second lobe piercings! He was super nice! 10/10 recommend going to American Pride for a piercing!

My sister got her septum pierced. I came here because the piercing reviews on here were all 5 stars.I was not disappointed! I needed somewhere clean, professional and precise for my little sister, and that’s exactly what this place was! The gentleman who did it (can’t remember his name, but he’s the only one who does piercings only) was really cool, took his time, was precise and walked her through what he was doing and what she was going to feel.100% recommend.

I want to say a big thank you to Ian! He does such a fantastic job with coming up with tattoo designs and kills it every time we come. He makes it eventful and home like feeling. He’s very informational and an all around amazing guy. He makes sure you’re comfortable and in an environment that smells clean and professional. Along with using organic top of the line products to insure that your tattoo lasts and heals with ease. Definitely make sure to tip him well for such amazing hard work he does

Highly recommend this place. I was gonna go here to get my ears pierced but ended up going somewhere else. If I could do it again I definitely would’ve gone here. I came in because I needed to get an MRI and needed advice on what to do since they were still healing. They were so helpful and super nice about it. They took them out for me and let me come back after to put them back in. I definitely will go here when I get more piercings. Please please do yourself a favor and have these wonderful people take care of your piercings or tattoo needs.

Had my permanent eyebrow makeup done by Jen. She does a fabulous job. Listens to what you want and has great suggestions. Had them done in 2010 and just had them darkened slightly. I would recommend having this done for anyone with light brows or disappearing brows due to age. She does great work.

I walked into American pride in Rochester and instantly knew they keep their establishment clean. They were all very friendly, and my piercer Francesca was very informative and helpful. I recommend going here for your tattoo and piercing needs!

My 5 year old daughter really wanted her ears pierced for her birthday. I went back and forth between the typical bubblegum experience at the mall and her having a good piercing. TJ at American Pride, Rochester was phenomenal. He spoke directly to my daughter explaining every step so she was comfortable and then described exactly what was happening to me. My girl didn’t even flinch when he put the first earring in and wasn’t afraid at all for the second ear. I will go back to American Pride and hope TJ is working when it is time for my second daughter to get her ears pierced. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!!

Professional, clean, creative, unbelievably talented…I could go on and on. I had a faded tattoo that I got 100 years ago and never really liked. I had an idea of how I wanted it to look now. Kat understood my vision and then seriously made it so much better than I could have imagined. I am so happy! Definitely returning!

By far my worse tattoo. Every time I look at it I can’t stand it and can’t believe how awful it looks. From the stars to the lines it all looks terrible.

Got my nose pierced here a little while ago. The shop looked and smelled clean and sanitized. The piercer was extremely nice and professional. He took the time to explain my piercing placing and after care and took time to answer my questions. Would recommend going to this place to anyone.

I went in to get my medusa and 2nd nostril piercings this week and AJ was super kind and informative! He also took the time to help me adjust the jewelry in my tragus. Super quick and knowledgeable piercer Ill definitely be going back to him for my next piercing (:

Superbly clean. Exceptional treatment. Had a tattoo done by Ian and he took so much time with me on such a small piece. I was very particular and very full of ideas with zero creative juice. Ian took my thoughts and made it happen. I now have my Bengals paw forever on my foot. The care he took with me was absolutely impressive. I was so happy with the work that Ive already booked another piece. Id be remiss for not mentioning AJ, who was also there, he was an excellent addition to the conversation and making me feel welcomed. These guys are real, they make you feel like you matter. I have to share a wonderful experience that occurred at American Pride tattoo In Rochester Hills. I took my ten year daughter there to get her ears pierced. Ian was absolutely wonderful and my daughter is bragging about how the piercing didn’t even hurt. Ian was so informative and patient and made my daughter feel at ease. I went for a cartilage piercing, and within the next two days I got a HUGE bacterial infection. I had to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. I cleaned the piercing well several times a day, and was careful not to sleep on it or touch it, so I can only assume I got the infection when it was pierced. I’m not one to complain, but I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else because it was VERY painful!

AJ did an amazing job both removing and re-piercing the dermal in my face ! You would never have been able to tell I had the piercing after his removal of another artist’s jewelry .. and when AJ redid it, I could not believe how much better it looked ! Excellent work ! Healing was flawless.

Went to get my industrial done at this place. they ended up not sanitising my ear or thejewelry. piercer was wearing gloves, thankfully. swelling was normal for a few hours. my ear started to throb. i eventually ended up having my ear turn purple, it was oozing and bloody. the pain was unbearable. turned out to be an infection from the jewelry and everything. do not go here for piercings!

My piercer is amazing. He did a great job. I got both my piercings done as a birthday gift and I will definitely be back to get my other piercings and tattoos

Please do not make the same mistake I did and let anyone except the designated piecer to do any body mod. I had my septum done by one of the tattoo artists and pretty much instantly knew it was not even close to the proper positioning. Had to take it to another shop and they were appalled that the septum was pierced fully through cartilage and not even near the “sweet spot “ - so painful and can cause healing issues:( Employees are very nice here but that becomes irrelevant once a piercing is botched and extremely painful

Didnt have piercings or tattoos done here. Bought replacement nose rings since the one I was pierced with was a nightmare to deal with. Lady at the desk was very kind and helpful! 6 pack of 18 gauge L-shaped nose rings for $30.

Had an absolutely excellent experience with Randy. Was a bit nervous about getting such a large tattoo because I wanted it to be perfect. Randy provided an extremely professional, knowledgeable, and relaxing experience that put all my worries to ease. Would absolutely recommend this shop for anyone looking for a professional and reliable tattooing experience. Make sure to ask for Randy as he will absolutely take excellent care of you. 10/10.

I have never written a review before but the longer I sit on this the longer I wanna Inform others so It doesn’t happen to them. A couple Saturdays ago I went Into American pride tattoo to get my second holes done on my earlobe, one of the first things I said verbally was that I had a nickel allergy and explained my experience that I had when I got It done the first time at a Claires a couple years prior (really bad swelling, itching, pain). This lady handed me a board of studs like I requested, the board she handed me was surgical medial. I picked my earrings and went on with It, once Tuesday hit I couldnt Take the itching and pain any longer. I went Back into APT and talked to this dude who said I was Having an allergic reaction to the metal, I stated again that I had A nickel allergy and told the female on Saturday that, he said “well did you tell her how severe It was, surgical medal still has traces of nickel in it most people do okay with little amounts” I was in complete shock because would you give someone who has a peanut butter allergy peanut butter because they didn’t specify how bad their allergy was? Anyways, I said No and that I didnt Think I needed To nor did she ask. He basically said oh well you need to pay 30$ to get new earrings after I paid 90$ two days before. He blamed The whole situation on me which I didnt Think was right, I will Never give my money to American pride in Rochester again nor will I ever Recommend someone to them.

Best friend and I went in for matching tattoos of small lilies on our wrists. After they each healed, there are bits of our flowers missing in the needlework. Awful experience. It has been one week and I have already made an appointment elsewhere for a touch up. Do NOT recommend.

An acquaintance of mine referred me to Ian and Im super glad she did, hes nothing short of absolutely amazing!Ian is highly detail oriented, artistic, clean, & fun, and really went above and beyond for me. From drawing up my cover up idea to working on my outline for 6 hours, Ian meticulously worked through every little detail in our design. American Pride is very clean and the people there are awesome.I will be definitely be returning for more & would highly recommend Ian and American Pride Tattoo.

Ive been going to these guys for several years now. Theyve handled ink and piercings for me and the quality is always top notch. Artists Randy & Ian are fantastic artists and professionals. They are willing to guide designs based on my vision, while always making it ultimately even better than what I had hoped for.10/10 will use them again!

Asked if they could take a walk in and Ian had no issues doing it. I am very happy with his line work. Both guys in the shop were awesome and friendly. Ive been to shops where all they do is speak down to people walking in, not the case at all here, they were super cool and great to talk to. Shop seems VERY clean and professional. If I could give no stars I would. I got my septum pierced here and they clearly have no idea where the sweet spot is and I was in so much pain to the point of not being able to drive. I would not recommend getting pierced here, your better off going somewhere else.

Ive been to many tattoo and piercing shops. Ive never had a worse experience than I did at American Pride. Randy was nice and completed my septum piercing rather quickly, which was great. However, I noticed after a few days that the piercing was higher up on one side than the other. I called and spoke to Randy on the phone, and he offered to repierce it free of charge. I decided to go in and ask for a refund as I really have no desire to have the same person who pierced me incorrectly, try and attempt the same piercing a second time. I even offered to show it to him, however he rudely mentioned that I didnt say anything when I left (what would he have done had I said something? Tell me to take it out and come back in a week to have it repierced?). He mentioned that the sign says no refunds. Which I completely understand. However, the piercing wasnt done correctly, which isnt my fault. Why should I have to go through the pain of having it pierced again due to your mistake? I asked how Id know that hed do it correctly the second time. He said, Well make sure its lined up and straight before you leave. Isnt this something that should be done BEFORE the piercing? What happens if its crooked the second time as well? Im unsure, as I wont be returning. I cant speak on their tattoo work but if youre looking to get a new piercing, Id avoid this place at all costs.

I came here to get a nose ring (an actual hoop) replacement, I had already gotten it pierced years before. And I went in to only find rings that were extremely large. And, too big of a gauge for my nose. But the guy proceeded to shove it through my piercing hole and told me it looked good even though I was bleeding and it was way too big for my nose/face. Will not return.

Amazing staff, explains everything, clean, nice place to go. Recommend all piercings here.

I got my septum pierced here a few months ago, and my piercer was fine, he did an excellent job of piercing me, but I was pierced with horrible, low quality jewelry. I would not suggest going to any american pride shops because they all carry low quality jewelry.

Came in for the Friday the 13th piercing deal last month, workers were still very helpful even though we came late into the evening. I got my navel pierced and it has been great, no complications.

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!! I had an appointment for Thursday and I had to go to a job like 2 hours away, so I did the deposit and everything and I call Thursday to try to reschedule my appointment and no body answers the phone, I called the next day to tell them and they were like yea we left home early because of the snowstorm, which is understandable. So I went to the shop and I told this guy and he’s like we trying calling you this and that, which I never received a call from them. So he’s basically saying because they closed early that day, it’s my fault that I didn’t call them to reschedule. DO NOT GO THERE! I wish there was there was no stars at all!

Great shop. The artists are both amazing. Thats where I get all my piercing and tattoos done. Very clean, and professional took there time answered any question I had. Explained everything from conception to finish!

Went here over the summer for a larger piece. Portrait came out looking more like a doodlebob with crooked eyes and certain details missing. Plus taking forever to heal. I ended up going to Vicious to get it repaired as much as possible. Overall I felt like this tattoo was rushed and the intensity was lost in translation. I think the artist only did what he was capable of doing and skipped other details . The portrait wasn’t realism but it still came out weird. I do not recommend this place.

A coworker and I went to this shop for Friday the 13th. We got to the shop at 9:20pm and they said that they were excepting walk-ins until 10:30. We waited in line for over 40 minutes after driving an hour to get to the shop in the first place and were already in the building only then to be told that even though it wasnt 10:30 that they were just going to give us a voucher to come back a different day and that we werent going to get peirced. Absolutely bogus super disappointed and a waste of time. Better management couldve prevented this. If we werent going to get pierced the line should have been cut well in advance. Super disappointed.

A young man named A.J. greeted me at the door. I arrived at the facility with an earring I asked A.J. to put it in my ear. He did so at my request....I decided it was too tiny. He ended up selling me a small silver hoop & he placed it in my ear. I LOVE IT !!! We started talking about tattoos....he went to the back of the store & here he comes with a young lady named Kat. We started talking about tattoos....I have wanted one for at least 30 years...I finally was brave enough to say yes. After papers were signed....I decided on a pawprint. In August I had to put my 1 yr. old cat to sleep..she had an auto immune disease....it was the worst time of my life !! So in her honor I wanted a pawprint. I explained to Kat only to do 1 black spot....if it hurt she had to Stop......she agreed !!! Guess What ?!?!? I have the whole pawprint on my arm !!!! I 🐾❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾 it !!!!! It didnt hurt & I would recommend to go in the store & ask for Kat if you want a tattoo. Ask for A.J. if you need earrings & you cant see to put them in....like me. It was a Great experience. DO NOT GO HERE! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!I was in the process of getting my sleeve finished by Kat and after my second session she asked me if I could pay the remainder of the balance for the whole agreed upon price which I did just to get it out the way and I also tipped an extra $100 just to be nice and we scheduled my last session...I drove an hour to the tattoo shop for my last session and when I walked in one of the other artists that works there said she wasnt there and that apparently him nor anyone else that worked there had even heard from her and that she basically no call no showed that day and that was his explanation so I went home....I proceeded to message her multiple times over the next week to figure out what was going on and she never responded once never gave an explanation as to what happened or anything...so I finally called the shop because she was clearly blatantly not responding on purpose and when I called the shop I explained what happened and the guy said oh yea shes actually here right now then puts me on hold and then she still doesnt even get on the phone instead has the front desk girl answer the phone who was extremely rude and said nothing but you can come in on New Years Eve not once did anyone that works there have the courtesy to apologize for wasting my time or give any explanation for what was going on. I decided to not even go back there because the whole experience was just so unprofessional and uncalled for....I never got a refund for the remainder of the money I already pre paid for or anything...So I basically got robbed...I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! I would give zero stars if I could smfh...

Great freehand by Kat(rina) in a filler spot I had! Healing well. When I had questions about the chosen design she walked me thru her decision making process/rationale for particular artistic choices.

Ian at this American Pride location is definitely someone you should see if you want a good tattoo done right. He is meticulous and consistent while ensuring you get a tattoo you will truly be happy with.

I love this place. I have been getting my piercing done here for over four years, and I’ve never been disappointed. I have gotten my faith, double helix, and naval done here by AJ. Every peoria for has healed perfectly. He is great and has always made me feel comfortable and helped me out with any information I didn’t know about any piercings. If you are looking for a place to go, this is your spot!

Ian duncanson was super!Truly an artist and was easy to talk to!

My mom, sister, and I went to get our ears done and when we walked in, there was only one person in the shop and he was passed out on a bench, snoring loudly. We promptly walked right out. Super unprofessional, wouldn’t even consider going back there.

Did a walk-in piercing with Kat. She was super friendly and helpful. Felt comfortable the entire time. Will definitely return
