**Review of Zero One Ink: A Master of Traditional Japanese Tattooing**I had the privilege of getting tattooed by Zero One Ink, and it was nothing short of a transformative experience. Specializing in traditional Japanese Irezumi, Zero One Ink combines masterful technique, a deep understanding of cultural symbolism, and a personal touch that makes each tattoo a work of art.Expertise and SkillFrom the moment I walked into the studio, it was clear that Zero One Ink is a true master of their craft. Every detail, from the consultation to the execution, reflected a high level of professionalism and artistry. Their designs—whether it be koi fish, dragons, or samurai—are beautifully balanced and intricate. What sets Zero One Ink apart is their deep knowledge of the cultural significance behind each element in traditional Japanese tattoos. You’re not just getting inked; you’re becoming a part of a living tradition.Tebori TechniqueI chose to get my tattoo done using the traditional tebori method, a hand-poking technique that’s become rare in modern times. Zero One Ink is one of the few artists skilled in this ancient art form. The process was surprisingly less painful than I anticipated, and the result was unlike anything I’ve seen with machine work. The tebori method gave the tattoo a softer, more natural look, especially with the shading and gradients. The rich blacks, deep blues, and subtle greys seemed to flow into one another seamlessly, giving the design a sense of depth and movement that is impossible to replicate by machine.Artistic Vision and Custom DesignsZero One Ink is not just a tattoo artist but a true visionary. He took my ideas and transformed them into a design that was better than I could have ever imagined. Every aspect of the tattoo—from the composition to the colors—was carefully considered. I appreciated how he explained the cultural and symbolic meanings of each element in the design, ensuring that I left not only with a beautiful tattoo but with a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture.Studio ExperienceThe private studio itself was a reflection of his attention to detail. It was clean, peaceful, and felt more like an art studio than a typical tattoo parlor. The atmosphere made the whole experience more relaxing, allowing me to fully trust the artist and enjoy the process.Final ResultThe finished tattoo exceeded all my expectations. The koi fish I had done symbolizes perseverance, and paired with a dragon to represent power, it feels like a complete story etched into my skin. The tebori technique brought out a depth in the shading that I’ve never seen in any other tattoo. Its a design that I know will age beautifully over time.ConclusionIf youre looking for a Japanese tattoo that embodies both artistry and tradition, Zero One Ink is the person to go to. Their skill with the tebori technique and their deep understanding of Japanese culture make every tattoo a personalized masterpiece. I couldn’t recommend them more highly—this is more than just a tattoo; it’s a lifelong work of art.

So over these past 8 months of working on my full sleeve I got to grow a very good friendship with the owner he’s a very nice and chill guy very happy on how the full sleeve came out and he’s an incredible artist. His studio is very nice and clean. Definitely coming back for my next sleeve.
All I can say is, this man is a master of his craft. From the inks he uses, to the needle he uses, to the knowledge of the Japanese culture. Everything is Traditionallly done the RIGHT WAY! This man is on another level of professionalism. If your looking for the Best Traditional Japanese in Sac Town. Hit up Zero one ink! Thank you for an amazing tattoo and experience.
I cannot articulate how much I LOVE my full arm sleeve tattoo. I have been wanting this tattoo for over a decade and spent several months researching to find an artist. I just had my 10th and final session and the end product is everything I ever wanted and more.Adrian is highly skilled in the design and application of Japanese traditional tattoos, especially with the use of tebori. His knowledge is second to none and he is a true master of his craft. I am honored to wear his artwork and I cannot recommend Adrian and Zero One Ink enough.
I had a life changing experience with a traditional irezumi sleeve with Hikae. If you are fortunate enough to get a booking, Adrian really does deliver on his promise to give you the tattoo of your dreams. I gave him the overview of each character and he put his artwork into motion. His Tebori work really brings each character to life. After many months, my journey has come to an end. But I am grateful I had this done and made a good friend along the way.
I got a full sleeve and chest piece here at Zero One and its one of the best tattoos I have ever had. The dragon along with the oni god himself with all the colors really pops and the service was amazing as well. I absolutely love the tattoo and you can tell how much hard work and dedication goes into them.
Embarking on a 17-month odyssey at Zero One Ink has been nothing short of a transformative experience, culminating in a back tattoo that exceeds all expectations. Under the skilled hand of an incredibly talented artist, every moment spent in the studio was a testament to passion, precision, and unparalleled creativity. I would absolutely recommend getting a large traditional Japanese tattoo done by him if you have the dedication!
Adrian is head and shoulders above the other tattoo experiences in Sacramento hands down.1: One on One consultation. Adrian takes his time and works with you and your design that is going on your body. Learning about who you are and what your tattoo means to you.2: The session is private. Just you and Adrian. Which is nice. There isnt loud heavy metal or whatever blasting in the background. Nobody make inappropriate jokes about customers, culture or whatever. Its nothing like your typical tattoo shop. The experience is next level.3: Adrians skill with the tattoo gun is above and beyond. Your comfort is most important to him and it shows.I highly recommend Adrian for all you tradition Japanese tattoo needs. You will not be disappointed. Only if he is out of the Japanese Kit Kats. Those are sent from the heavens above.
I searched Sacramento area for Japanese tattoo style and Zero One Ink got on the top. Have some idea but after talking to Hori I knew what I want. He did outstanding job more than I was hoping for. Introduced me to old Japanese tattoo style Tebori. I would highly recommend this tattoo artist.
Got a full sleeve and chest piece done. Adrian is super friendly and extremely knowledgable about Japanese culture and tattooing. His studio is also very private and incredibly clean. Overall he is a true professional and I recommend him to anyone interested in Irezumi style tattoos.
Absolute amazing experience. Works with you if you have a busy work schedule like I do. Very detailed handcraft work! Trust the process and he will for sure give you a badass tattoo. always informative on everything he is doing, one of kind artist that you will definitely not find anywhere else. I traveled from Florida for his unique free handed artwork. Definitely would recommend him to anyone looking for a Japanese Style Tattoo.
Adrian was amazing throughout my sessions. I think I had 4 sessions for my sleeve and every one of them he made a great experience. Very understanding and very educated in his work. Amazing guy and would 100% recommend him. Looking forward to the next time!!
What can i say, Larva is the best at what he does. Strives to do the best work and is very knowledgeable in his field. Every single tattoo he does is different and unique to the person. Id highly recommend if youre looking to get a traditional Japanese tattoo and experience.
Never had a tattoo so after some digging I decided to go for Larva Star since his particular style in Japanese tattoos are what I wanted, and not many artists within Sacramento seem to do this style. I got a half sleeve of a dragon flying in the clouds which revolves from my upper back to about the beginning of my elbow. After a couple sessions I am greatly please for the quality of my tattoo and glad I went to Larva Star for my first tattoo. I highly recommend if you want this art style of Japanese tattoo and quality. (Below is a side angle of my tattoo after a few sessions, and it looks amazing already!)
The artist has an awesome attention to detail and strives for improvement in his art with every session. Once you start your sessions, he generally considers you to be his friend rather than a client and treats you as such. Ive had a great experience and will most likely be returning for more work in the future if I decide to get more ink.
Larva is the best. After our first consultation, I knew I was in good hands. I was very cautious in choosing an artist for my japanese tattoo because there aren’t any in the area that have as much experience as Larva. He is super nice, loves his craft tremendously, and work is incredible. If you are thinking of getting a Japanese tattoo in Sacramento, Larva is you guy.
Very professional and is best at what he does. I was searching for someone who does traditional japanese style and glad I chose Adrian to do my tattoo.

Larva did a few tattoos on me. A red ink tattoo on my arm of a geisha, a heart tattoo on my face, and he filled in my dragon tattoo on my arm. His work is clean and polished and he makes sure to put in extra effort into his tattoos. I would recommend him to anyone who loves Asian style tattoos and more. His art work is absolutely beautiful.
