I got my belly pierced yesterday and they were all super sweet and friendly. My piercer was the absolute best, Ariel her name was I believe? She made me and my friend so comfortable when we were both pretty nervous. She was SO funny and was so amazing I recommend this place. And the price is alright!

Alovera was amazing! I had a piercing that was in my opinion too shallow that fell out although I am not an expert I went back to the same shop and she was the best! I definitely recommend her professionalism, level of knowledge and just being a kind and gracious person to anyone looking for a piercing done right!

Absolutely terrible. Terrible service, took 10 minutes for us to be checked in, another 7 minutes for the piercer just to come look at what piercing would fit my ear best and then an additional 30 minutes to clean the room when we were the only customers there. The piercer kept going back and forth with her nintendo switch. It felt very unprofessional. Would not recommend to anyone going there.

I reached to SD tattoo through chat and asked to recommend an artist that would be best fitting for a image of a stack of 4 quarters. Customer service from SD tattoo chat did give me an recommendation and we set up for a next day appointment.Artist was friendly but was not the correct choice for this artwork. I was charged $223.00.When I reached out to SD tattoo and spoke and shared the images of the completed artwork that looked liked I was used as a practice canvas from a new unexperienced tattoo artist(mudded and horrific line work). I made an request for another artist and If I can have a credit towards the same tattoo elsewhere different placement.No credit was offered and this time wanted to charge me $300.,but could set me up with new artist.I will need to get this new tattoo covered up or laser off. I left 2 stars because I do believe all tattoo artists genuinely attempt to achieve satisfactory tattoos for their clients. This was an off day or just need more experience.

@Alo was my piercer and she did such an amazing job. She got it done so quickly. With other piercers my ears are still sore days after but still no soreness at all. Will definitely go back for her everytime. The shop was very clean and the staff were so friendly!

Everything felt a little overpriced but the people there were wonderful and professional. It was also extremely clean and the decor was gorgeous!

EXTREMELY GREAT SERVICE!!My artist, who was so good at realism tattoos; took into consideration of all my criteria’s and was extremely patient with me. He stayed with me and finished the tattoo beyond the closing time. 10/10 would come for my next one!!

I took my six year old daughter here to get pierced after her insistence on doing so. We were able to walk in and be seen within a couple of hours. Our piercer was so patient and kind, and very quick. My daughter said it wasn’t that bad at all! It was expensive but definitely worth it to have her ears pierced professionally and in a clean and safe environment. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do the same.

Me and my sister went and got tattoos at in California and we are from GA and IL! Wow. It was 5 star tattoo shop. There was a lady that checked us in and out! Person cleaning and the tattoo artists! Place was very professional and clean! I loved it ❤️ If you are in the San Diego area! SD tattoo is the place to go! You will not be disappointed!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I did several long sessions with Mike at SD Tattoo and they were AMAZING! When at the tattoo shop, it was very clean, professional, and welcoming environment! All of the staff was very warm and friendly, while also making sure I was well taken care of by asking me if I needed anything and by bringing snacks and water through out all of my long sessions! Mike is an amazing tattoo artist that takes his time perfecting every detail while also being super nice and understanding throughout the entire process! I couldn’t recommend SD Tattoo and Mike enough they made my first tattoo experience so great and I can’t wait to continue coming back for more!

I had an issue with my card and the owner personally texted with me everyday and contacted his merchant account to try to fix the problem as quickly as possible. He made every attempt to make sure that the issue was resolved and that I was satisfied. Top Notch customer service straight from the owner! Im extremely impressed.

Dude so I started a back piece here, Im really happy with it so far. Its a cool shop and has a really chill energy. Good artists and my fiancee got a piercing on the same day. Mickey is going to be finishing the piece in a out a month and Im looking forward to seeing how this comes out. Fairly priced and professional. Had a little mix up with scheduling but everything worked out.

Writing another one star review. When we complained about one of their former tattoo artists taking a 500 dollar deposit and disappearing, they always act like they will reimburse us. Last time it was Chris. Now the newest thing when we gave proof is pretending like that tattoo artist never worked there. So unprofessional and fake. Can only find receipt for 300 of it. At least pay us that .In response...we called the shop to check before sending the deposit to the artist and was told to go ahead and book the artist and give deposit to him directly. They verified that he worked there.

Had my 6 mo daughters ears pierced with D (Derek) and he was so kind and patient with her. They are walk in only but I called ahead and there was no wait. Parking available too and the studio is very clean and calm. Highly recommend!

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS SHOP FOR YOUR TATTOO NEEDS - UNPROFESSIONAL / HORRIBLE CLIENT SERVICE / THEY HIRE INEXPERIENCED TATTOOERS! I came in for an inner lip tattoo on 03/13/23 - I asked the shop to book me with an artist who had done inner lip tattoos before. The photo I have posted here is LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER MY INNER LIP WAS TATTOOED. THERE ARE TWO LETTERS ALREADY COMPLETELY GONE AND THE REMAINING TWO ARE ON THEIR WAY OUT. While I was getting tattooed, another tattooer from the shop was watching and even commented that it wouldnt be the way he would tattoo an inner lip and I felt the same way, given Ive watched tons of YouTube vlogs of tattooers doing inner lip tattoos and none of them tattooed them standing up and holding the clients lip down themselves. I called the shop today 03/14/23 to let them know and request a refund, and Jack rudely told me this was impossible and that inner lip tattoos fade and do not hold up...I REITERATED THAT I KNOW THIS, BUT IT HAD BEEN LITERALLY LESS THAN 24 HOURS since their tattooer Carlos tattooed me. He passed me on to his manager finally who after I texted this photo to him, apologized and offered that the tattoo could be completely redone, so he knows it was done horribly. I will never go to this shop again. I just want a refund. I am still awaiting this. Theyre being dodge-y about it saying they need boss approval. I will delete this review if they refund me in full.

Went in to get my ear cartilage pierced and Dee did an amazing job and was so informative and helpful. It was my first piercing in 15 years so I was a bit nervous but he was very patient and enthusiastic, making it a really easy experience!

10/10 recommend. Awesome environment and people. I’m not local but I’ll come here everytime. Jenn did my piercings and she was the sweetest most patient person!

The piercer let me walk out with a crooked vertical labret. I called them about it and they said they charge a $30 re-piercing fee. I already paid them over $75 for a crooked piercing. Im going to take it out and go somewhere else in the future.

Absolutely excellent work (see photo). VERY pricey, but the quality is perfect. These are true artists. The facility itself is also clean and well managed. I definitely recommend this as the place to go for tattoos in San Diego.

Got my first ever tattoo here a few weeks ago from Ivan. Great experience. The guy is a fantastic dude as well as an incredible artist. I highly recommend this place and will be seeing him again if I decide to get more tattoos down the road. I came looking for a tattoo the other day, upon walking in my fiancé and I noticed how it seemed like a Walmart honestly. Not like a tattoo parlor and very cold & eerie feeling. The tattoo I wanted was a small arm tattoo and I was expecting $150, they told me it’d be $600, MIND YOU it would’ve been my first tattoo so I thought okay maybe I underestimated and tattoos ARE expensive. They are not that expensive I got the tattoo I wanted done in Pacific Beach for $200, and then my artist said SD Tattoo is like a corporate company and they’re not good to go to. I am so glad I got it done elsewhere and REASONABLY price. I’m still shocked they told me $600 for this tattoo.I just want to say if you want to come here and you know your artist go for it! I do not recommend this place for people who are getting their first tattoo, they might overcharge you.

I got my tattoo done by Alex F and half of it was started at another shop and the other half was done at SD tattoo. I asked for watercolor and showed reference pictures but he didnt do watercolor and I didnt like how it ended up. I was hoping it would grow on me but it didnt. Since SD tattoo said they would do free removal if you dont end up liking the tattoo, I asked if they would at least pay for half of removal since I only got half of it done here and I was told the boss wouldnt approve it and wasnt given a reason. I asked to speak with him and never had any communication. Really disappointed with my experience here.

I’m from out of town and wanted a spontaneous tattoo. Walked in, waited 2.5 hours. Finally they brought me back. Jacob did my tattoo. He was extremely nice, but his traditional tattoo skills are lacking. Not entirely satisfied with my tattoo. He said he loved doing traditional too, but this seemed like apprentice work. The line work was good but the shading is ROUGH. Disappointing, especially for what I paid for it.

Do NOT recommend! I’m new to CA. I’ve gotten professional tattoos in multiple states. I’ve never had an experience like this. I took my 2 cousins (one is blind) from OH to get us all similar tattoos. 1st pic is my blind cousins’ $300 tattoo. (3x3) 2nd pic was $175 (1x1) (plus tip) and last pic (mine) was $200 (3x3) (plus tip) They had 2 kids working the front desk that didn’t seem to know what they were doing. A third young man (behind the front desk) tried to sell one of my cousins weed. The artist that did my tattoo (and my other cousins) was rude and kept taking cigarette breaks. We spent over $800 and it took almost 4 hours for this. Needless to say, we were all unsatisfied and I definitely will not return to this shop.

I had my first piece done a few weeks ago. Making an appointment and getting a quote was straightforward. Great experience. VERY professional - everyone is in uniform scrubs. Rob - my artist did a great job and just an awesome person. The finished piece was exactly what I wanted

Wonderful place to get a tattoo or a piercing as I have done both. Corei is a true artist and a wonderful person overall. He works with your ideas and makes you feel comfortable and just makes you proud to show off his art. Ian pierced my septum and explained everything , was kind and funny. Everything was sterile and I never wondered or regretted anything I have had done here.From the moment you walk in everyone is kind, funny and just a pleasure to be around as long as you embrace it.Definitely a home away from home.

Ngl Went here for my first tattoo, and it was absolutely the best experience ever! I brought the rough draft of the design I wanted and Adam (The Artist) did a wonderful job drawing exactly what I had in mind, and was super supportive during the entire process.Everyone was super friendly and everything was spotless. They have been following all the CDC reccomend practices, and I felt 100% safe the entire time. It was one of the best experiences Ive had hands down.Its no wonder SD Tattoo is known as the best tattoo parlor by so many ppl. No cap 10/10 will come here again

Great and friendly staff in a professional and family friendly environment. Took care of my ink and made sure my 9 y/o son was confortable while watching. I love the color and design of my tattoo. I will definitely return to finish the piece on my forearm and to have others touched up. Wish Id have gone here in the first place. Had the ribbon done elsewhere (unfortunately) had the olive leaves added here.

Customer service off the bat was very poor.The guy seemed like he didn’t care nor wanted to be there during my first consultation- legit yawned as I was explaining to him what I wanted.I booked anyways & put a $100 deposit down (which I plan on just losing) with no information on who was doing my tattoo or anything about the artist/what they specialize in. I was quoted $250 an hour then out the door I went. 5 min consultation.When people are coming to you ready to drop thousands on dollars for permanent body modification I feel like the least you could do is make them feel welcomed. I have a good amount of tattoos and never felt like that after a consultation. I was highly disappointed after driving 45 minutes in the rain from Oceanside figuring how much this place advertises being the best in SD .I’m sure the artists here are amazing but I highly suggest them being the ones who do the consultation.

We were visiting San Diego for vacation and my daughter wanted a nose piercing. They were professional, clean and friendly. The piercer was professional and did an amazing job. Pricing was great and we were in and out in no time.

Yes!! You want a tattoo make an appointment here!! Looks a little scetchy from the outside and you will think you are in the wrong place. The parking lot is small and you will probably have to park in the street but there is plenty of room. Inside it is a while new world! Its huge and they are the most professional place I have every been to.

Worst piercing experience I’ve ever had, the jewelry they use here is subpar quality so if your skin is sensitive in the slightest they will not heal correctly. You need titanium posts especially for the cartilage ones I got, which they didn’t have when we went. Had my piercings redone at enigma a month later with titanium posts like I always have for my piercings and it was perfect! Went from total swelled up infection to healed up in a month.

Had my first tattoo at another place and it went horrible. Came to SD Tattoo hoping I can get it fixed and they did not let me down. My tattoo with fish was quick and extremely well done. I felt comfortable, listened to, and Im beyond happy with the addition to my skin canvas!! Ill be back very soon for more.

In town for the week and wanted to get simple ear piercings with my sister. Made the mistake of not reading the reviews for the first time…WAY overpriced and the piercer had no idea what he was doing. I don’t even think he was a piercer because as we were checking out I overheard the worker mention that he wasn’t in the system as a piercer.I paid $60 (including tip) to change an earring in a piercing I already had. I got a gold hoop and the hoop doesn’t even close so I’m sure it will slide out of my ear in a day or so.My sister got 2 ear piercings both listed as $50 each on their website. Ended up paying $240 total..They DONT list the pricing of the jewelry on their website so just go ahead and assume you’ll probably pay double for what’s listed. The piercer did not check before piercing that the needle matched the size of the jewelry, causing him to go back through the hole twice. This added on so much extra pain and blood. He gave 0 aftercare instructions or supplies. Would 0/10 recommend this place for piercings. As someone who has multiple piercings, I have NEVER had an experience like this

Just went in today and got a few roses on my forearm. My mom passed away and I wanted the best tattoo possible to remember her by. The staff was more than happy to help, asked if I needed anything, and the artist did a fantastic job.

STOP LOOKING AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT!Ivan at SD Tattoo recently spent an intense 8 hour marathon session completing a piece I was having done for the recent birth of my son Solomon (a rendition of Raphaels Judgment of Solomon). I have spent several hours in a tattoo chair and have gotten work done both across the US and internationally -- Ivan was the most enthusiastic and talented artist I have ever had the opportunity to work with. There is nothing more reassuring than a professional sharing your passion and vision -- the fact that Ivan is insanely skilled only adds a deeper appreciation for the finished product. I was fortunate enough to see the awesome work done by Don, Dustin, and Ryno {a very cool Dori and Nemo, a wolf ripping through a guys rib cage, and a very intimate memorial for a sibling were 3 that stand out in my memory} -- I am confident in recommending any of these very talented artists (even if Ivan remains my guy for black and white work.) When you can get up after an 8 hour session and laugh because you enjoy your commissioned piece so much, you know they did something right. After you have taken the time to find the perfect tattoo for you, do yourself a favor and set up an appointment at SD Tattoo!

I’ve had two bad experiences here in a row. I wanted to try their piercing services since I work near by and had some cartilage piercings I’ve been wanting for a while now.First time I called & made sure they could do what I wanted before driving down there on my night off. They asked a few questions for clarity and agreed they could do a conch piercing with an orbital hoop. Drove down and was not greeted for 10+ minutes. When someone finally decided to talk to me, I told them I had called just a bit ago and was here for the piercing. The person who I was talking to happened to be the piercer and said casually that she couldn’t do that because they don’t have that jewelry. I left empty eared and down $10 in gas.I just took the first time as an honest mistake as it did seem rather busy that night. I call again about a month later for another ear piercing I had in mind (forward helix, 1 per ear). I called to confirm the price of service and price of jewelry and it was pricier than I had imagined, but I really wanted the piercing that day. I drove down once again like an idiot and if you want the shortened version of the story, I was out another $10.Once again I was not acknowledged or welcomed for a few minutes as I awkwardly stood at the counter. When the girl does talk to me, it’s to let me know the pricing was wrong on the jewelry and the price would go up another $60. We’re talking $240 plus tip for two cartridge piercings at this point. I haven’t gotten pierced in 10 years so I figured maybe that was the norm now. I waited over an hour (did not see any piercing clients being called back during this time) and when I was called in, a young girl had me sit down and very quickly put two placement dots on my outer helix and casually said, “They’ll be uneven because of anatomy.” At this point I was not vibing this interaction at ALL, but I take the mirror and see the dots are in the wrong place. I restated I wanted my forward helix’s pierced and pointed to the area. She stated the jewelry was incorrect for that area and it would cost even more money. I’m going to be totaling out over $300 at this point, and that’s if I choose to tip small, which is not something I care to do. She takes me back to the jewelry case and says we can try to find something in the “clearance” bin. She pulls out a matte neon green stud and a metallic purple stud of different lengths and says we can do those for a little less. No way am I walking around for 6+ months of healing with a neon green and metallic purple mismatch dot on either side of my head lol.At this point I was starting to become upset and decided to politely walk away. I thanked them for their time but most people would have had a different reaction. SD tattoo has wasted my time and money on multiple occasions with nothing in return.I ended up going to Enigma Piercing and had amazing service with far more jewelry options, a much calmer environment, great customer service, and no wait time for less than half the price SD was charging.I gave SD Tattoo a second chance. Shame on me I guess.

I am giving this review from personal experience with meeting the owners that came to my place of work. Amazing people and refreshing positive energy. These are people that really value artists and would hands down create a beautiful experience while getting a mark on your body to be remembered and also tell the story you want. I will be a customer I promise that. Owners like them are very passionate about the business and very proud of their artists. .. it’s rare but there are people out there like them. I am thankful to have met you all.

Great, relable, welcoming tattoo shop in san diego. All my experiences there have been great. The space feels open, clean, and tidy, but also has cool things to look at. Would recommend to a 18 yo getting their first tattoo or to people who have been getting tattoos for years who want to have a regular artist they go to for all their tattoos.

This shops a little (at times, unnecessarily) pricey but regardless its still a sterile, professional and welcoming environment. Jorge does amazing work and is very understanding and truly caters to and cares for his clients. I definitely recommend the artist Jorge.

I had the most amazing experience here!!! I was getting my first tattoo and was helped so kindly by Nena at the front desk. She shared her ideas and also recommended my artist. Matheus was the BEST. He specialized in what I was looking for, sat with me for an hour to perfect my design and brought his own creativity to it. He answered all my questions, didn’t stress me out and made the whole thing fun. Also the tattoo came out amazing. HIGHLY recommend 10/10

Very impressed with the customer service at this place. They had some scheduling conflicts and werent sure if wed be able to keep our appointments but since we were from our of state the lady helping us did everything she could and got us in for our appointments so we didnt have to miss out on getting tattoos on our vacation! Gustavo did great work on my tattoo; very clean lines, and didnt dig in too hard. I would recommend them to anyone!

I had such a great experience here! I was beyond nervous before I walked in because I have such a low pain tolerance and they were so accommodating. I got a belly button piercing which I absolutely love! SD tattoo made sure I had ate and made sure I had water water before and they explained every step prior. They seemed to really care about the customer. Everyone was so friendly! I had Kyra as my piercer and she was absolutely amazing! She helped me focus on my breathing (to calm my nerves) and again, walked me through everything. She was extensive in explaining to me the cleaning process and after care. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Went there twice. The first time I had my tattoo artist swapped without notice the day of the appointment. All the communication with the original artist was pointless. I thought I would give this shop another chance and went again a couple months later and the same thing happened. They gave me a random artists email to talk to about the tattoo but the day of the appointment I received another random person that was definitely a beginner and was charged the full price for a mediocre quality tattoo. Deposits non-refundable.

I made an appointment with Evan. I showed up on time and he was on time too, but it took a while to get going. He worked with me to create the tattoo I wanted but I think he underestimated how long it would take to tattoo it. Bottom line is that it was a bit more time consuming and expensive than I expected.On the upside I got the best tattoo ever. The colors are amazing and I get so many compliments! I am saving up for more work with Evan. It would nice if they offered a discount for subsequent visits especially when you spent $1,100.I will also add that this place is clean and their safety protocols are high. I appreciated that!

I got simple Roman Numerals on my chest and my tattoo artist Evan could not do it straight and same size, I have mini crosses that are not same size either,not forget the fact that I paid 300 for such small piece that does not look professional.

Came here for my first tattoo at the recommendation of a friend who is local. The reception folks were wonderful and greeted us nicely. Carlos was our artist and was also great and put me at ease. He was professional and gentle, and was very tolerant of us ladies joking around and being anxious with him. I appreciated his positive attitude and willingness to draw up a quality design quickly that we explained as best we could, but maybe a bit vaguely. Thank you, I had a good time with you guys!

I got so lucky finding this place and my artist. I walked in for a consult and met with Irina. I was explaining what I wanted as this was a cover up. She is so talented that she hand drew this design and I was scheduled with her that evening. She gave me what I asked for and then some. She drew the butterfly on my arm and then then started tattooing. No stencil!!! So original! I cant wait to see her again. Everyone at the shop is really nice. The place was super clean. Very impressed with the whole experience!!

My friend raved about this place so we decided to get our noses pierced here together this past december. this was my first piercing other than my earlobes. we had to wait probably 25 minutes for someone to help us after we got checked in, which was fine, except that 4-5 people were messing around putting decorations up so i wondered why we were just sitting there.let me start by saying my piercer, alo, was the sweetest person ever. she was so kind to me and my terrified self, she was incredibly reassuring, and she made sure i didn’t pass out or anything afterward. as a person, i couldn’t have asked for anyone better.as a piercer, though… she was not up to snuff. when she pierced my septum - a notoriously difficult piercing to get right - she pierced far below my sweet spot, meaning the needle went through my cartilage (which makes the piercing significantly more painful, harder to heal, and at a higher risk of infection). it was also really crooked. she freehanded it with me sitting with my head straight forward, so i wasn’t surprised, but for my first facial piercing it wasn’t great. it was so low that any time my upper lip moved, the ring would too.i wound up having to go to another shop and get it repierced. they knew right away that it wasn’t done very well and the jewelry wasn’t very good quality. i advise everyone who is getting facial piercings (especially hard ones!) to consider this when thinking about going here.

This was my experience last saturday. I went in for piercings. I was a walk in there was a long wait but I was determined to get them done that day. I asked for a consultation I was told Id have one but they did not. Finally after over an hour waiting I got to go in and talk with the girl. She was sweet pretty young didnt have too much experience but I was here no turning back now. So we get my first piercing done and the girl asks me to get up and look in the mirror to see if I like the placement. I try to get up and the chair flips over knocking me into the wall and Im on the ground exposed embarrassed. Now the girl gets help. I get up. My head throbbing in pain from the piercing too. And 2 guys come in to the room one picks up the chair the other one states I have to sit on the seat part so it doesnt flip? No concern for me being hurt. Same thing with the manager no concern for my well being at all. The only person concerned was the piercing girl that was still helping me. So I have to get the other piercing Im determine to get this done. And as soon as Im done I get my instructions of care and rush out to pay and get out I feel embarrassed mocked and definitely there was no concern for my well being at all. I do not recommend them because of that issue. The girl is a sweetheart she did nothing wrong to my knowledge. It took me years to get my nipples done and the swelling hasnt gone down but that is the most embarrassing painful experience and I wouldnt wish this on anyone. No one checked to see if I was ok. My head was throbbing my back hurts but wow. Crazy experience.

This review is just my experience at the front. I specifically asked for a female tattoo artist and the counter guy brought out a male. I felt like I was being pressured to make a choice quickly on what tattoo I wanted and size. I chose this place because it was highly rated and seemed like an awesome place to get either a tattoo or piercing, but I didnt feel heard or seen. So, I told them I wasnt proceeding with the tattoo and left. If I ever wanted a tattoo in San Diego, Id check somewhere else. Thats how much the front guy affected my experience. Hes the face of the business and the first person you see and he just wasnt the vibe.

Edit: George got back to me about this issue very quickly, and gave me a partial refund. He was incredibly helpful and understanding of my frustrations. I will be changing the stars from one to four because I do appreciate that the issue has been resolved for me.They need to figure out their internal communication. I called to see if they had time for a walk in and was assured that they were wide open. Via text I communicated to the lady that I wanted a tattoo that had several elements to it. I sent a reference photo that had part of what I wanted and was the style I wanted. She quoted me $450 for the piece. I went in and it didnt seem like she had relayed any info to the people who were working there, the tattoo artist was just given the reference photo that I sent and was told that was all I wanted done. He didnt have time to make the design I wanted and get me tattooed before his next appointment, so I told him that just that part of it was fine for now. So for $450 you can get a three inch stencil that wasnt even an original drawing done. This was not the artists fault, he was just not told what I was actually there for. All in all the actual quality of the tattoo is good, but I would definitely go somewhere less disorganized if I had a chance to redo.

My artist, Jonathan was AMAZING!!! First time tattoo for my birthday. He did both mine and my mothers tattoos. Dope! Hes very talented, a great artist and easy on the eyes! So glad Jonathan was my artist. He made the entire visit great and yes, very pleased with our tattoos. 4 stars because the admin staff were not on top of it in terms of my appointment. Do better. Great work Jonathan!

Overall bad experience. They do not have flash, their prices are always crazy. I got quoted $225 for a 2x2 tattoo with no color or shading. Their prices are dictated by an office in Oregon or something? The whole operation is so weird. The quality of each artist is really inconsistent. The lettering I unfortunately got here has been repeatedly mistaken for an amateur tattoo by artists in other shops. Their lobby is under construction right now, but they are still open and doing piercings and tattoos with sawdust in the air and no separation from the tattoo and piercing area which is I’m sure a health code violation. The wait is always bad. Avoid this place like the plague. There are way better way cheaper shops in San Diego. Sailors grave will have my business in the future.

I got my first tattoos which I love very much!!!! 😁❤😄 The tattoo Artist name is Don and he did an AMAZING JOB on my Bows!!!🎀🎀 Love the way is detailed and I Love the colors that he chose. Don was very professional, respectful, and so nice. He made me feel comfortable, I ask him if it was okay to put shades on to have some privacy since it was my first time. Don had no problem with that, he set it up for me. I notice and saw that his station is clean and the shop too. They use good quality ink, tools, and products for taking care of the tattoo when its healing. Don inform me on how to take care of the tattoos when its healing and if i have any questions or concerns I can call or text. Everyone at the shop was so nice! 😊 I am planning on getting more tattoos done from Don. My family and friends love the way Don did my tattoos. I will definitely recommend anyone who wants to get a tattoo done to go to Don at SD TATTOO. 😀😁

Quality artist, great ink. Busy most days but I walked in and had an artist in about an hour. Clean, professional and knowledgeable. Most styles represented. This will be my new shop in the area.

Got two piercings here and they are constantly causing me problems , I’ve been pierced before and they’ve always been fine and I’ve never had issues. The piercings I got here are always irritated and I got so frustrated I just took one out (your not supposed to do this but I kinda had a mental breakdown over how ugly it looked) and now I’m debating doing the same for the other one because no matter how often I clean them. Like I said I’ve never had this issue with any piercings I’ve gotten at any other piercing place . Yes, I kept both my piercings extremely clean, didn’t touch them with unclean hands, didn’t snag them etc. it’s not normal for them to be constantly irritated like this. Now my nose has permanent scars on the inside and out and it’s caused me a lot of insecurity . Also way too overpriced here . Not a good experience /:

This was my first experience in a tattoo shop and I went in with my friend for moral support. The environment was very welcoming and the staff was professional and kind. My friend was getting his first tattoo from Ivan who was amazing! He was very meticulous about placement, sterility, and making sure everyone was on the same page with the design of the tattoo. As a nurse I was happy to see staff changing gloves frequently and sharps containers throughout the shop. Ivan himself was extremely personable and kind. His art work is out of this world amazing and his humility was refreshing. If I ever decide to get my own tattoo one day it will hands down be at SD Tattoo with Ivan!

This shop has a lot of talented artists, my artist included. However, the management is completely unprofessional and will take advantage of you if you don’t spend as much money as they want you to. The initial I received quote was for 2 tattoos, $500 for one 5x5 half moon mandala type line work and 1 line of large script. Was told they would be $250 each but if they were done in the same session they would come down to $450 - Seemed very fair. Upon arrival the artist advised that he was not comfortable doing the script style that was requested, which I respected. However, once it came time to pay and I was informed of the re-quote, the price only dropped by 50 bucks to $400 - For 1 of the 2 tattoos. There was no one willing to take responsibility for the re-quote in-store. Both the tattoo artist and the “manager” informing me of the re-quote done by the “owner” insisted that it wasn’t their decision. We were forced to deal with the issue publicly over speakerphone with an unprofessional man (owner) who could not logically explain the ridiculous quote except for to say that they were charging for a setup fee and even after learning why the second tattoo wasn’t done, the price still only came down to $350. That is $100 dollars more than the original quote for a single tattoo. Needless to say I won’t be back and I’ll be sure to let my friends know how they can expect to be treated at this shop. Terrible business.

Went in on my birthday and got a scorpion tattoo with a couple of Roses on my ankle/leg, it was better than I expected! My tattoo artist Fabian was extremely accommodating and patient with me and my fiance as we altered around a couple of things. He was super professional extreamly nice and I love his artwork that I now have forever. He gave me exactly what I wished for but even better. If I were you... Id ask for him!👌👍

Super great place! Im in town on vacation and a friend and I stopped in for a quick simple tattoo. The front desk guys were fantastic, knowledgeable and courteous. We ended up getting a great tattoo and experience. My friend also got her nipples pierced and the piercer was fantastic. Funny and professional all in one. Id definitely pop in again any time Im back in San Diego!!!!

I went and got my 3 month old her ears pierced at this location and the service was amazing. Everyone was very nice and helpful and you feel very comfortable inside as well. There piercer was named Milly and he was very patient, nice and informative. I will definitely come back for more.

My sister has been wanting another tattoo the last few times shes been in town visiting from Texas, and up until now, weve had nothing but bad luck in actually making it happen. This was our second time here at SD Tattoo looking into getting what she wanted and we were so incredibly lucky to be set up with Clint.Our initial two experiences with SD Tattoo deserved 3 stars at best. The lack of communication between the staff, owner and us was disappointing. However,the whole process suddenly became so easy and smooth once Clint was involved. It was all just pretty much effortlessly aligned with exactly what she wanted. From the moment we were introduced to him he was polite, respectful, engaged and totally excited about being a part of this super meaningful and special piece my little sister was wanting to do. He went above and beyond to make sure that not only this tattoo actually happened tonight before she went back home to San Antonio, but that it was done with the absolute best customer experience possible.Totally down to earth, funny, engaged and pumped on getting to be the artist that did this beautiful piece for her.TOTAL 5 STARS FOR CLINT here at SD Tattoo. I plan on coming back and having one of my pieces redone that wasnt done right the first time in Vegas, and also for future new work. Thanks guys for the great experience and incredible work done on my little Sis!

Their piercing from a friend and I experience has been a nightmare from hell! If I could attach pictures Id show you how the jewelry has tarnished. The jewelry was bent in places it shouldnt have been. It has now been caught on a towel and it sliced my nose 3mm & on the inside its embedded into my skin. Having it removed has turned into a three ring circus. No one wants to touch this from the ER, FD & multiple piercings places local to me. When I reached out via IG. It was we cant help then after seeing photos come in & we can help. I love 4 hrs away and am not traveling again to a place that didnt do basic needs of placing jewelry. I wouldnt suggest to anyone to go to this place for business after what Ive been through. I paid over 100$ for this piercing plus tip. Now more to fix the issue. I should atleast get a refunds for not having the service I paid for done correctly & was sold cheap jewelry that was marked up 200%.

Dee gave me a super sweet tattoo here a couple days ago, a large forearm tattoo. I did a walk in and was really impressed with how Dee put together such a rad tattoo, he did so much shading and it looks incredible. Really nice guy, too. Thank you, Dee!!

Kyra was my piercer today! She did a super good job talking me through the process and aftercare. She took her time to make sure my piercings were straight and I was happy with them. Very fun and sweet! SD tattoo is very clean, organized, and professional as well!

Staff was friendly, shop was clean, Jorge ended up doing my tattoo, he worked with me and I was happy how the tattoo turned out from what I saw at the shop, once I got home and removed the wrap and was looking it over closely, I am missing a few things from the stencil, and two of the numbers on the clock I got are facing the wrong way. I sent multiple requests to the shop to contact me so we can discuss my concerns, it’s been a week and not one of my emails or requests has been answered, no response from the shop.Super unprofessional!

Fabian did my tattoo four months ago and I could not be happier! He was so particular and made sure it was perfect, but he was also extremely gentle and had a very light touch. My first tattoo from a different artist was SO painful but Fabian absolutely blew me away! Can’t wait to get more by him!

Such a wonderful experience! Our first time in a Tattoo parlor and our mind was blown!! This place was immaculate, the staff were very experienced, friendly and easy going and I am so glad we came. We took our 5 months old baby in to get her ears pierced and our piercer Ian was amazing, knowledgeable and patient. Definitely coming back for future piercings. Id like to thank everyone over at SD Tattoo for making mine and my wifes tattoo experience awesome. The folks here are super friendly and do great work. I had the pleasure of being tattooed by Isaac. Although the tattoo I got wasnt quite his normal style, he helped me out to get what I wanted done. He not only did an amazing job but my dude has a super light hand. Ive gotten several tattoos and his work was such a great experience. I live in Riverside and my wife and I were down there for a mini vacation so it was a bit spur of the moment. But I would definitely make the drive back down to go get more ink done by my man Isaac. So thank you everyone down at SD Tattoo. If your in the area I would definitely check these guys and gals out. And if your not in the area you might need to go on a little adventure to go check this place out.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Gustavo is literally the most patient tattoo artist I have met! He took his time to really hear what I wanted. I was so adamant about super thin lines and he continued to listen to everything I was looking for. He kept tweaking everything until it was perfectly what I wanted. He made this experience absolutely wonderful!

Had my piercings done here and returned for the initial jewelry change.There can be a bit of a wait and parking is kinda limited so, anticipate a wait. Everyone has to scan a QR code outside to sign in. It doesnt ever work for my phone, at all. Nor does it for half the people Ive seen try during my two visits; its more of a pain than helpful.Couldnt speak towards their tattooing side other than to say you can make an appointment for a consultation whereas piercings seem to only be walk-ins.

Clean, friendly staff, professional staff, people that know their craft work here. We had our 3 1/2 month old in to get her ears pierced we were in and out and they had everything there to make this a successful piercing.

I called this place because my 6 year old wanted her ear pierced and our appointment somewhere else fell through. I had no idea this was like a tattoo/piercing factory! Our appointment was at 6:20pm on a Saturday (same day appointment), and it was so crowded, it was insane! The receptionists seemed overwhelmed (or just lacking customer service skills? Not friendly and just rushing everyone), going from one person to the other, they also didnt seem to know we had an appointment. I cant believe we drove 25 mins for this, as I also had a very tired baby with me. It took over 40 minutes for our turn! If we had known it would be this way (and so hectic) we would never have gone. Also, we were quoted $120 for both ears including jewelry. Our previous place (highly rated piercing/tattoo shop) charge $40 for both ears (no jewelry Im sure) but I assumed the $120 would be somewhat worth it. No, we had to pay a total of $164 (because they also charge $5 for use of credit card! This was also not disclosed on the phone) to include a nicer pair of earrings (because what 6 year old wants the boring pair?) that looks like it cost $10. They dont even include any aftercare products (a sample would be nice for the first day), they just hastily handed me a brochure that was printed upside down. Oh and it took quite a long time for someone to notice we were trying to check out. No eye contact just rush rush rush. We headed out of the shop at 7:45pm!! It was awful and I would never go there for a tattoo or anything else.I feel so sad, I wanted her experience to be special...The only positive (and reason for 3 stars instead of 0) was our piercer, Rich. He was great with my daughter and did a good job. Experienced and professional.

I got a belly button piercing here about a year ago and had a horrible experience. The piercer was struggling to pierce my upper belly button and got the needle halfway through my skin and continually was stabbing the inside of my skin trying to get it through. I looked down (as they had me standing up????) and saw so much blood I had lost on the floor and someone else blood on the floor that they had not cleaned up and told the piercer I think I’m going to pass out. The piercer then took a few more jabs into my skin and finally got the needle all the way through before I passed out. This was not only a traumatizing experience but my piercing isn’t centered correctly and doesn’t look cleanly pierced. It’s over priced here, unsanitary and they have inexperienced piercers. I wish I hadn’t came here.

I have wanted to pierce my nipples for a long time, finally gained the courage, had a consult with Jay, he made me feel at ease... and I got it done.From 1-10, pain level was like a 3. He was super professional, he kept me laughing, which helped the entire process. I would say my piercing placement is PERFECT. 100% symmetrical.Decided to also get a tattoo the same day, Steven did it for me and my bestfriend. He gave recommendations on color, process, length of time it would take, care for the tattoo. And it was SUPER CHEAP! 😂 I whined with the tattoo (it was on my rib!) but he was super patient with me and overall just amazing.I would recommend the tattoo shop, pricing is amazing, staff is super friendly and fun. 5/5(I don’t give reviews usually, so you know this is a fantastic place if I took the time to give them kudos!).

I had an amazing experience with Alethea. I got my nipples pierced so I was super nervous and she did an amazing job of making sure I was comfortable. They’re absolutely perfect and I’ll definitely go to her for my next piercing. The place itself was super clean and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. (:

Got both my helix on both my ears pierced here and first they pierced me with a hoop instead of a stud which made my piercing never heal. Keloids started forming on the back of my ear on the piercings so a year after I got them done i went back to change the hoop to a stud, and they told me they couldn’t because I was pierced with a hoop they pierced. I had to get both the earrings removed and now have permanent keloids on the back of my ear. They wouldn’t even refund me.

Probably the worst tattooing experienced Ive had so far. I walked in to get a classic dagger through a rose flash tattoo. The prices are ridiculous first of all, I paid $300 for a tattoo that took an hour. I got tatted by the Russian artist (cant remember his name) and it was horrific. This was the most painful tattoo Ive got so far and he litteraly butchered my arm, I was bleeding so much when he put the foil on my arm. He didnt speak a single word in the entire hour it took him, and when I asked him something he just answered with one single word, as if he was bored and just wanted to get the job done as fast as possible. Pathetic.Same when wiping off the ink : he pressed so hard every single time, and the paper towel was super dry so it ripped my skin off, as painful as the actual tattoo. Im sure the other artists are very cool from what I saw and heard and the reception is very nice, but this has still been my worst and most painful experience so far. Would not recommend this artist.$300 to get my arm butchered, no thanks.2 stars is because the job is well done (I hope at least, it seems a little bit deep but Ill give it a few days).

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Stay away from this place. They charge $300 for supposed tattoo artists. I came in and the guy who I never actually got the name (and couldn’t speak English or Spanish ) was late for the appointment. Then when he finally sat to talk about the tattoo piece I tried to communicate with him but he just kept coming up with designs he was getting online. I showed him pictures and designs of what I wanted and I figured “well if he’s that expensive I’m sure he’ll design something great. Man was I in for a surprise.I learned a couple days later, expensive tattoo artist doesn’t equal better, he was nowhere near good. I seriously could have done a better job of an outline.He basically created a design on his tablet and the printed out the stencil and placed it on my back which I liked but days later when the stencil washed away I realized the work he did was TERRIBLE. Omg and to top it off I called to cancel my next appointment and my appointment deposit is NON REFUNDABLE!! What a nightmare.

I’m from out of state, and was only in town for a few days. I went in for my appt and was told the artist was late, so they called someone else to come in, after waiting with no update I finally asked to just cancel and receive a refund on my deposit. The gal at the front desk was very nice but it was obvious there’s no communication amongst the staff.I went over to Funhouse Tattoo in Pacific Beach and they were able to accommodate me as a walk-in and at a much lower price.I was originally quoted $200-$300 for my piece and at funhouse I was able to get a quality tattoo for half the price.Don’t waste your time here.

Tourist trap. They base their prices on if you look like youve ever had a tattoo before then charge you a godly amount for a piece that would take less than an hour to complete. They definitely try to take advantage of you if youve never been tattooed. Guess I should have came shirtless to let them know I know what to expect since my whole arm and back are done. The only thing good was the receptionist at the front. She was very nice and professional

I have received 3 tattoos from this place I would highly recommend them. I know what I ask for I will get they r always so kind and willing to achieve my goal. I was always taught growing up if I wanted a tattoo or a piercing the place needs to be clean and I need to feel safe.... I assure I do.... Ive have had different artist do different things for me and I never walk away wishing it could be better for they always pass my expectations! If u are wanting work done this is the place to do it.... If I could give more than 5 🌟 I assure u I would give it. I have found my forever tattoo parlor/ piercings to get my work done if u go u wont regret it I never have and sense Im going to get a new tattoo in the near future I can say with confidence I never will!!!!!

I came to SD Tattoo about two months ago to get a tiny tattoo with one of my good friends and just fell in love with the place! It looks amazing inside and is super spacious. I really liked the artist Wade that did my tattoo that day and came back actually today to get another one done by him. It is gorgeous and it my number one favorite tattoo I have. Everyone there is super nice and friendly and asked me if I needed a pillow or some water and kept checking up on me. I could continue to go on but Ill stop here and just say definitely go to SD tattoo and youll fall in love.

Got my dermal pierced and removed there. Clean and professional. Its definitely my new spot for piercings!Update: 11/24/23 got another dermal here. Ana is very personable and friendly ! Love it here :)

Highly recommend this tattoo shop! Made appointments for myself and three friends to get small hummingbird tattoos together. The shop is in a great location. Everyone was amazing at this place. Great customer service. Clean shop. Super professional. Excellent music playing. Reasonable prices for top notch work! I got my ink by Dustin and I love it! It came out better than I ever imagined. As I said, Dustin does amazing work but you will be pleased with every tattooist they employ. Dont waste your time looking at other places. This shop is the #1 spot, hands down!

Holy cow!! This place is awesome. I came in with high expectations since Ive been thinking up my tattoo for 3 years. Nacho exceeded my expectations by far. Not only did he draw a beautiful and elegant piece, his tattooing skills are off the chain! Nacho did a great job at shading and really made my colors blend beautifully. Thank you for making it so comfortable for me as we sat through a long session on my ribs.

Recently booked an appointment with a specific tattoo artist that I had picked two weeks earlier. When I arrived the day of my tattoo appointment they switched me to a different artist and said the guy I picked was still doing another tattoo and couldn’t do mine at that time. I was charged $450 for a pretty basic tattoo that took 45 minutes to do. Doesn’t seem fair.

Highly recommended tattoo shop especially for walk ins. My wife and I were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary with matching wedding date tattoos and I was also getting an additional tattoo. We came in on a Sunday for their hours 9-12 and they were able to accommodate us with their artist, Jason. He was very professional and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Jason helped us with every step from placement, size, and detailing. We live in St. Paul, MN but if we come back to San Diego, I would definitely come back here for more tattoos. Thanks!

Don worked from 2pm - 8:30pm (with a few breaks) on my tattoo and it turned out truly amazing. The over all quality of this is stunning and contains very attentive details. Really captured exactly what I was picturing. He was very professional and made the process as painless as it could be. Both Don and Kevin were great company for the few hours I was there, cool dudes. I will no doubt be coming back to Don for my future tattoos. Thanks!

Mark did an awesome job! He is a a cool guy. We showed up on a Tuesday without an appointment and he tattooed my father in law, husband and myself. He took about 30 min to draw up each of our tattoos and tattooed us one after the other. I got a small watercolor feather behind my ear, my husband got a hazard sign inspired from the game Fallout (about 5 inches big) on his forearm and his dad got a tribal tattoo on his triceps. All of us were very satisfied!

**REVIEW FROM 2ND VISIT AT BOTTOM**Original review:Kyra is a wizard!I bought a double stacked loop for my conch off of Amazon and wore it for about a week before my ear was killing me. I kept sleeping on it which irritated it and caused my ear to swell to the point neither me or my partner could get it off. I figured a professional was my best bet - Kyra had it out in seconds with minimal discomfort and swapped for my old jewelry I had brought with me.I’m new to the area and will most definitely come here for future piercings! The studio is huge, clean and all the employees were friendly.**UPDATED REVIEW**After a second visit my thoughts have changed.I decided to get a couple piercings and a little tattoo on a whim for my birthday. I arrived at 10:30am as a walk in.I let the front desk staff know what I wanted, talked pricing, filled forms, etc and then sat down to wait. A few minutes later, front desk let me know the tattoo artist who could accommodate me would be in at 11am and piercer at 12pm. I said that was fine and continued to wait. I figured I would probably be out of the shop by 12:30 - 1:00.The tattoo artist arrived a little late (11:10ish) and piercer at 12:40, both citing traffic. There were other clients waiting and the front desk staff continued to thank everyone for waiting.My tattoo went fine and was done by 12pm, I went back to the lobby to wait for the piercer. There were a couple people ahead of me for piercings who were still waiting. Even after the piercer arrived it took over 20 minutes for the people ahead of me to be called back. I ended up going back for my piercing around 2:00 and left the studio around 2:50.My piercer was friendly and at the time I felt I was in good hands. One of my piercings is a daith. The piercer asked if the front desk had let me know they only pierce daiths with a curved barbell, they did not but I said that’s fine (post-piercing, I now know this is not common - a CBR, hoop, or horseshoe is recommended by virtually all safe piercing practice sources).The curved barbell used is way too short and I’m disappointed a professional did not see this and swapped to a longer one. I’m only on day 2 and it’s already too swollen for this jewelry.Take-aways:- The shop strongly advertises walk-ins and opens at 9am but does not have a piercer available until 12pm (at least on Saturday). This seems like an oversight and could confuse or frustrate clients. As I mentioned, many people were waiting and some kept asking the front desk how much longer things would be. There was a couple with a baby waiting who arrived around the time I did and were still waiting when I left. 3+ hours in a waiting room with an infant cannot be enjoyable.- I understand delays due to unexpected traffic happen but the front desk staff kept insisting the piercer/tattoo artist would be here “in x minutes” and much more time would pass.- I also understand different shops having different policies surrounding piercing practices, but to have a policy that goes against virtually every other source for safe piercing practices does not seem to have clients best interest in mind. People come to a professional piercing studio for a knowledgeable, safe piercing and place their trust in the studio to do what is best.- I’m disappointed to have spent $390 dollars for the services I received and feel I did not receive quality work. I have scheduled an appointment with a different shop to have the daith assessed and jewelry changed. I am in the position to afford this but if I were not, I would be much more upset.- I do not plan to return to SD Tattoo for future services.

Very clean well laid out shop! Theres someone at the desk to great you as soon as you walk in. The artists are there to help bring your ideas to your skin and they do a good job at. They are open late so if you want to walk in there will be an artist available. They do take appointments as well. Fairly priced work and is on par with per hour ratings. They also do body piercings! A great shop you should visit if you want some quality over quantity.

The artist, Dani, did a lovely job interpreting my request for a ring tattoo, and was super professional. The ladies running the front of house were also very professional and efficient. Several other artists were wandering around with their masks down, which made me feel that they arent very serious about hygiene. Im glad my tattoo was small because I wanted to get out of that uncomfortable situation.

Came in last year for a tattoo, the artist (wont be naming him) drew a nice stencil , but when he started tattooing the tattoo looked nothing like the stencil. I have very bad anxiety, on the paperwork I filled out before the tattoo clearly said I have very serious issues with anxiety. The workers at SD tattoo then tried to convince me that the tattoo looked good (It did not) the workers then said I was on drugs when I was having a panic attack. Fast forward two weeks, I came back in for a cover up.... but the artist doing the cover up just added more detail to try to mask the bad tattoo job. After letting it heal, I went to a professional cover up artist who said he couldnt believe an artist put that on my skin. the only good thing this shop did for me was giving back my money. UPDATE: the artists name was Evan Voelker, not sure if he still works here.

My friend and I went to SD Tatto to get some piercings done. It was my first time getting one, so I was a bit nervous. Ian was our guy, and he did an amazing job. He was super chill, made us feel very comfortable from the beginning and kept the good vibes all throughout the session. He was also very informative and an helpful with a few questions I had. All in all the experienxe there was great. From the front desk staff to Ian and the overall atmosphere of the place. Definitely recommend it!

I asked for a tattoo regarding my son Ashton who passed away in 2019. I am not sure if they are used to tattooing on black people as the tattoo was muddled and not well drawn. They told me they were going to give me a refund BACK IN JUNE. it is now the end of AUGUST. This tattoo meant a lot to me and the fact that they are so inconsiderate and cant simply send my money back so I can get it covered up is sickening.

First off, they are awesome! Dont let anyone tell you differently. Came in about an hour after they opened, talked with an artist and got a 3hr session same day. Awesome place, decent prices, great vibes from everyone there! Would give 10/5 if i could. Would recommend this place to everyone.

My experience here was very positive. The staff were really welcoming, I was greeted, and offered water right when I stepped in. I got a Roman numeral tattoo done by Saira, and it turned out amazing! The lines are so crisp and clean, I am very happy with it! Im so excited to show it off. I will definitely be back here when the next time I come out to visit the SD area.

Before I even got my tattoo I looked up best rated tattoo shops in San Diego and there’s a reason why SD Tattoo is on the top of the list. Everyone there was very easy going and nice. I’m going back there in a few weeks to complete the rest of my sleeve. I had Ivan and he was excellent all around. My tattoo turned out even better than I thought it would. Large shop and super clean. Everyone I interacted with here was incredibly friendly. Also, this isnt an intimidating shop like some can be if you not covered in tattoos/piercings. I went in because I had a reaction to some jewelry I bought elsewhere and they were very helpful in switching out my earrings. I bought a paid of surgical steel studs and it was $15. Install from the piercer was also $15. Love them.

Hubby and I came in on an impulse while we were in town from Florida and we were very nervous first timers... the entire staff and even some other clients made it a memorable experience! Steven did my simple heart/cross/anchor tattoo and Bryce was a champ with my husbands. We’ve waited years to get what we want and SD Tattoo didn’t disappoint!! It was truly a please spending hours with Bryce. Such a cool guy and we will be back next time we’re out this way on business. I got my soundwave tattoo with Marty. I emailed him, his response was prompt, the estimate was at a good price and I was able to book my appointment the following week. Marty was flexible with my schedule and when I got there, he greeted me and he got to work on my tattoo. The place is clean and everyone was nice. I’m very happy with the work. I will definitely be back when I’m ready for my next tattoo.

Absolutely amazing experience. Everyone was so nice and I was comfortable the entire time I was getting my naval pierced. The inside was very clean and had a great vibe to it. In general everything was a 10/10, I would definitely go again.

I vacationed to San Diego about 4 weeks ago. I called for an immediate opening, the only place out of 4 that was staffed and could take me right on. He was quick, did an excellent job, and was very friendly. I had a great experience, price was comparable but overall the tattoo was better than expected! Overall the experience exceeded my expectations.

I went to get the piercing removed as I was having pain and issues with it since I got it pierced there over two months ago and they told me it was going to be 30$ to remove the jewelry that takes two seconds. Like seriously they have the worst customer service possible. What happen to common courtesy and helping someone that was seen and spent money in this location to begin with will never use there services again.

I was in San Diego for a conference and on a whim decided to finally get my tattoo I’ve been wanting ..a google search of best tattoo shops in area led me to SD. The staff was very friendly, I was able to walk in and speak with artist within 5 minutes and I’m in love with my end product. The artist ( Jason) was friendly, professional and prices were what I expected/fair. The facility is clean and I felt confident in my decision.

***update*** the manager contacted my wife to apologize for our initial experience and offered to pay for our daughters piercing herself. We went today and it was a complete transformation in service. I want to thank Trish for reaching out and making things right. The piercer was very professional and was great dealing with a screaming baby.

My friend was supposed to have an appointment at 3pm but her name was apparently called at 1pm. Yes, her appointment was at 3pm but got called earlier than what time was proposed for. As if i thought it was just miscommunication, apparently its just bad customer service. Shes been coming back to the shop for a couple of times now to get her tattoo done and colored but it seems as if they dont respect or prioritize people with appointments here instead of walk ins. Eitherway, she waited for 3-4 hours and finally decided to leave and never come back to this place. However, i was a walk in and waited for at least 2-3 hours until i was taken care of (since people couldnt wait and left). I saw that they did have a sign up saying $150 minimum per hour. My tattoo was about more than a fist size and didnt take that long to draw up and get tattooed but i ease charged more than $300 for it. I get it, theyre supposedly one of the best tattoo shops out here but i still feel like its too overpriced. Same with the pricing of their piercings. It seems like they knew what they were doing though. Kevan explained a lot when it comes to piercings. Dustin was the one who did mine and he was definitely right about him being light handed. Not a lot of ink came off as my tattoo is healing and isnt as sore as I thought it would be compared to my previous experience with another artist who tattooed just about the same area on my other arm. Dustin also did VERY well with the text I wanted on my arm especially since it wad in another language but he still made it possible. Clint, by the way, was my friends tattoo artist.

Great talented artist, quick and an amazing job at a decent price. 5 Stars best experience at a shop :) I am not from the area, but I would not hesitate to go there. I live in Hollywood and there are so many shops, but poor quality services, and sadly the artist are rude and cocky. I loved the environment, it is very welcoming and they answered any questions I had. I didnt have an appointment. I was a walk in. I felt like getting a piece that I had been thinking about for a year already. However, it was always a hassle of setting up an appointment and the artist so I decided just to get it at a later time. Then I was out at a trip in San Diego and saw this placeso I just walked in and got it, got serviced within 30 min. during a saturday evening, and I couldnt be happier.

Only amazing things to say about this place.My first visit was for piercings on myself and my kids, I was stressing out on my babies getting gauges and septum’s, worried that the piercer may not be gentle or what not, however Jay voodoo is the prime example of a phenomenal piercer. He walked us through the process laughed and engaged with my family and made the piercings as smooth as possible making us feel so relaxed and excited!!!On that same day I booked a tattoo appointment with SLIM. I’ve been watching his work via face book and was ready to get a sleeve, from the start he’s super friendly and very excited to get into the work, on the day of my appointment everything went as planned and explained (the mind of this artist is wicked talented) my sleeve involves some redesign and blending in with other work from a different artist, (not easy) once I saw his approach to this and THAT LINE WORK! INSANE! I can’t stop starring at my arm. Phenomenal work.The shop- great decor, clean and super friendly staff!The apprentice’s are on there A-game and continuously make rounds asking if you need anything, the artist all visit each other’s stations and support one another’s work! This place has such a good vibe that I literally laughed most of the time.I highly recommend coming in ready with warm clothes or a throw blanket because it’s always 71 degrees in there, feels good when the house is full but some times you’ll shiver 😬 always make an appointment, this place gets really full. And yes the appointment is absolutely worth the wait!I’ll update and post pics when it’s complete 😉

This place was a little hard to find, but I was so absolutely pleased with the tattoo I got! This was my first tattoo so I was super nervous. Corei Guru was the artist who tattooed me and he was so professional and confident that I was immediately put at ease. Not crazy painful, under an hour, a little pricey (they have $100 shop minimum) but well, well worth it! The tattoo looks amazing and I am so unbelievably happy about it!

I had an amazing experience here. I came in to get a vertical labret piercing. I got it done by Kevan. He was fantastic. Patient, very experienced, and the fastest least painful piercing Ive ever had done. I will definitely come back here for piercings again. Never been pierced so well and painless before. I think Ill check out getting a tattoo here next. Love this place. Wish I had gotten all my piercings done by Kevan. Artists who Tattoo! That is the best way to describe the guys in this shop. I have known what I wanted for 14 years but could not find an artist worth doing my work. I was in town on business and started looking for somewhere to start my Roman history sleeve. I came across SD Tattoo and fell in love with Danny and Kimmys work. I ended up working with Danny and I am glad that I did. I could not be any happier with the work Danny did. He is a true ARTIST! His design was EXACTLY what I had pictured in my mind. Management was great as they followed up after I flew back home. All in all, I would recommend this shop to anyone, anywhere! I cant wait to schedule another trip to San Diego to allow Danny to continue working on my sleeve! Thank you guys so much for making my dream a reality.

Artist did a great job on bringing my tattoo to life. So no disrespect towards him. I just feel as though $800 for what I got was over priced. Especially after he said I wasnt going to be charged the hourly rate like originally discussed after having been in the chair for 5 1/2 hours. I was planning on returning to get the rest of my tattoo completed like I wanted but with that price Id rather take my business and my hard earned money elsewhere.

I have had a few pieces done there from Scottie... He does a lot of free hand and the work is always amazing when he is done. I also brought a friend who had a piece done on her forearm from Bean, which also turned out amazing. She is hooked now and will be back to get more. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting and the quality of work is fantastic. This shop has some really amazing artists working for them. I recommend them to all my friends. If you are looking for a place dont hesitate to come down and check them out.

Took my daughter here to get a piercing. She felt really comfortable with the guy that did her piercing, and she was very pleased with the aftercare instructions that he took the time to go over with her. He responded back to her daily quickly when she had more questions the following day. The place is very spacious and welcoming, and even though there was a line of people waiting to get pierced there was room for everyone to sit as well as a television and digital juke box to keep you occupied.

Kyra is awesome!!! I went in with my 9 yr old daughter to get her ears pierced for the first time and got mine done with her as well for my 3rd set. I promised my daughter that when she was ready I would take her to a professional to pierce her ears the right way and I would make it extra special by getting mine done again with her, just like my mom did with me. Then she watched Kyra pierce my ears too and thought it was super cool to see how she did it. Worse tattoo shop I’ve been to in all my time that I’ve been getting tattoos, artist are uncooperative, cocky, and blatantly rude. Arrogant E-Boy artist that are desperately trying to charge as if they’re a recognized echelon of superior caliber. I’ve been to shops in the middle of nowhere with more talent and way more realistic pricing and superior atmosphere. Save yourself time, money and stress and get inked somewhere else.

Wife and I each wanted a small tattoo. Hers was quoted $250 mine $350. Completely outrages for 30 min of tattooing. I backed out wife still wanted hers. Her artist Rob then took awhile to do the stencil and then when he showed her the stencil it wasn’t what she sent over to him. She said it wasn’t what she wanted and he was very rude about it. He then said he’d be back in ten minutes with the original and it was over 20 minutes without seeing him. We then left and was offered a different artist at a “lower rate”. Not sure how they do pricing but it seems out of whack and targets tourists. Would not recommend

I went there on 5 / 3 / 2021 because this shop has incredible ratings, and the experience left me wondering why. I called to set up an appointment and was told there was no need for one. Well when I went in for my piercing I was told to wait for 40-45 mins which turned out to be well over 1 1/2 hours. The piercings itself is okay but I have many other piercings and I know the standard practice is using longer bars to ensure room for healing. my bar is pretty short. Also, the ladies at the desk were extremely disorganized, rude, unprofessional and one of them refused to wear their mask above her nose the entire 2+ hours I was there. Plus, every piercing shop i’ve been to before has given me aftercare supplies (salt) and instructions on how to care for the new piercing which this shop did not. I don’t know how the tattoo experience is but I would say do NOT come here for a piercing.

I love this shop, hands down no one compares and I have been all over the country. When it comes to my tattoos I do my homework so believe me when I say i had an artist picked and ready when i went the first time but unfortunately who I wanted wasnt available due to a planned vacation and that when I met Ivan. Not only did Ivan exceed my expectations but his ideas and talents helped to create a true master piece that will last me a lifetime. And thats how awesome this shop and its artists are. Got my daughters ears pierced here. She just turned 3 months. Kevan is awesome with the piercing. Very patient and gentle. It was expensive, but we got the titanium earrings, shes very small but active, has tiny ear lobes, and he used a needle, not the traumatic gun. Lots of paperwork, but its all done on a tablet, and Im very pleased that he verified everything before piercing her ears. From the before and after pictures you can see that she was not phased by the event. Back to chilling within seconds of the piercing. Thank you Kevan!

Kim was my artist. She was not only as cute as can be but very confident and had great knowledge of her work. She made me feel very comfortable. I showed her what I wanted and 2 hours later, it was exactly what I saw. I loved the tattoo. I will be going back for my second one soon. I reached out on October 21st to schedule an appointment for a tattoo to commemorate my unborn child on October 23rd. I never received a follow up and chalked it up as google error. That was until 10mins ago tonight when they not only message back to come by or call in, but I see they left me on read at 2:37PM October 21st despite google saying they typically reply within 1 day. Thanks for adding insult to injury, but I am no longer interested in your services and will let everyone I know know how your company treats people.

I walked in last night and was able to get my tattoo done with Tommy. He was very professional and his water color was amazing. The staff at the front counter was able to help my best friend and I both get tats done. They have many artist that are very talented and have special areas of interest that satisfies everyone’s needs.

I’ve been here for 2 piercings. Juice did my rook piercing and Ashley fixed my top helix. Bit pricey—$60-$80 for a fresh piercing, $30 to have a piercing adjusted (w/ same jewelry)—but good quality and great experiences. I’ll definitely be going back.

Longer than usual wait 2 hr + , but no big deal. Service was alright and we got an amazing girl for our 4 1/2 month olds piercings, we got Aloe, she was incredibly nice, and did amazing!

I have come here twice now for tattoos and have gotten the most AMAZING service and quality ink! Love these people and this shop. Its clean and cozy. Went on a very busy Friday the 13th when they had a ton of deals and me and all my friends had amazing work done by 3 different artists. They also got pizza, coffee, and donuts for everyone during their long wait :)

The only reason I’m not giving this place a one star is because I know there’s good tattoo artist there. However I’m pretty sure that whoever gave me my tattoo guy knew he wasn’t that great. The tattoo artist adjacent to us did a touch up and started another tattoo 5x the size of mine and still probably would’ve finished before my guy had I not cut him short. It took the guy an hour alone to print out and lay down the stencil before actually tattooing. He kept complaining that the area on my side was “impractical” and also was very much certain that I was the reason for the crooked lines, (I wasn’t) and even tried to convince me. I basically payed almost $400 in total for an OUTLINE that could be covered by a credit card (size for reference). He wasn’t efficient with his time, couldn’t follow directions, and gave me a rather poor $400 outline.

Check out Jorge (Victor) if you want THE best realism art youll find in San Diego. His black and gray work is mind-blowing. He puts ideas together before you even complete your thoughts. He did a memorial piece for my brother and everyone who sees it is in awe of how realistic it looks. Ill be a forever client! I was walking in expecting to give my tattoo idea and maybe scheduling a future date. I walked in and gave my idea and was taken within the hour. Just seeing and experiencing the ongoing television pictures of past tattoo art was mind-blowing!. I myself have never seen such great art from every single artist that worked there. I was seen by Ronnie and it was way past my expectations. I cannot wait to get the rest of my ideas together and go back.

Went in there today looking for a quick and easy tattoo with my wife. We waited for a reasonable time. Probably 1hr to 1 1/2 hr because we know how busy the artists can be. The tattoo artist was nice and hospitable. The problem was at the time we were waiting we asked one of the employees how much our tattoo would cost. Its just a simple wrist tattoo, a single letter simple font 1/2 inch single letter tattoo. So imagine how much that would cost. He told us that it will be 100 for the both of us. I asked again after 15 mins while waiting and he even told us that I have a discount just present my military i.d. when we finished up and about to pay. The lady ringed me up and told me its 100 for just me and 100 for my wife. We were shocked and speechless. I told her that the guy we talked to said it 100 for the both of us. The guy that we talked to was right beside her and all they can say is sorry. I didnt push any further because im not that type of person( a karen) so we just paid up and left. Just a little tip before you go in there. Make sure that the price that was discussed before the session is the price youll get after. So basically we got scammed.

Scheduled a tattoo during my vacation in San Diego, I had done a bunch of research and this place was the most highly recommended. The shop was clean, all of the employees were SUPER nice, and Bryan the artist was an awesome dude. I will definitely be back for a bigger piece in the future.

I brought my son here to get his ears pierced for his birthday. Made an appointment for 12:30pm we still haven’t been called back and it’s almost 1:30pm. No explanation no apology ... nothing. Not sure how long piercings take but why on earth would you give an appointment and not adhere to that schedule. Doesn’t seem like they have much of a system, guess tattoo shops don’t really need to be professional I guess..... idk. Wouldn’t return. We are just going to leave and find another shop.

Ivan is INCREDIBLE!!!! He is so polite and professional, but above all, INSANELY talented!! My piece is turning out better than my wildest expectations. SO much attention to detail. The guy is a true artist, in the fullest meaning of the word. I cant believe he is not famous and booked up for years to come. Came here to get my 3-year-old daughters ears pierced. Comfortable waiting area and very friendly staff. The gentleman that did the piercing was very calm and professional with her. Didnt expect to spend that much money getting it done and dont know Id pay $100 to do it again. Id come back to get work done on myself. Parking can be tricky.

The earrings we bought from them. ame out 3 times within a month. The plastic backing that came with the titanium earrings for $99 came off so easily. Then to make sure it doesnt fall off, my daughter pushed the backing too deep and cause infection. We called SDTattoo to let them know what happened to the plastic backing and they said they only had changed to titanium backings and that we would have to buy a new set of backing. I would expect better customer service having gone to SD tattoo for ear piercing and earrings. Plus, I would want better quality titanium earrings since we paid $99.

I came in at noon, and was made an appointment for 3pm. My tattoo didn’t begin or I wasn’t even spoken to until 4:15pm. I finally get back there and my tattoo was great. I won’t take away that they have great tattoo artist. My issue was 2 days later I received charges on my card for an XBOX getting delivered to this store under the name Milly. I contacted the store and after I was able get some information back from GameStop (where they purchased the Xbox) and they pretended like they were going to investigate and I gave them the order number, name and address on the purchase. They messaged back asking for my credit card information. Which after everything I was not going to give out again! They also tried to say that the whole building was the address and it could’ve been someone else? The only vendor in that building I used my card with was them! So no one else had access unless they sell peoples debit cards information! If you go here I strongly recommend paying in cash! Before believing the comment from the owner! Check out all the other reviews about how I professional they are and make a decision for yourself! I messed up not doing this before hand!

The tattoo I got was great however, I called to see if their piercer was available and they told me when he’d be in. I came in and it turned out to be his day off. Maybe it was a bad decision on my part but a tattoo artist was asked if he could do it by another employee and he assured me he was able to do it. He seemed knowledgeable and caring while piercing my ear but it turned out to be too closely placed on the edge of my ear. I had many complications in its healing and hoped it wouldn’t be too thin however it was so close to coming out that my options were to take it out or it will rip out in a short period of time. It was a sad moment to take it out because it’s been a piercing I’ve wanted for some time and spent the money to have it done.Edit: a manager called me and even though it’s been a few months since I got my ear pierced they offered me solutions to help me and would repierce it for me once healed. It was great to hear back from someone especially because I didn’t expect anyone to reach out because of how long it had been since and have hired a new piercer. Next time I’m in San Diego I will definitely come back! Thank you to the manager who called and followed through with me!

Took my wife in to get a tattoo waited 30 to talk to someone in their defense they were a little busy. A artist named Joel finally came up to us and we gave him the idea of the tattoo and show him a picture of what I would look like. He then told both my wife and myself that the tattoo would be $200 with the deposit included with that price witch is a good price. He also told us he will draw up the tattoo that my wife wanted and one of his own design. So we set up a appointment and had to pay $100 deposit for the appointment and draw up. When my wife went to her appointment she waited over 1 hour past her appointment time to been seen and the artist didnt even draw anything up for her. After the tattoo was done they told her she had to pay $260 on top of the deposit that we already paid even though we were told $200 not $360. I called my wife to talk to someone there, I got on the phone with some guy and when I ask why is she getting charged more then we were told, I was to they were going to figure it out then gave the phone back to my wife. They still made her pay the $260. I dont want to talk bad about the whole shop but wouldnt recommend anyone to go with the artist Joel and be sure to have proof of the consultation price.

Ashlee was running check ins and also did all 3 of my piercings. She was awesome when answering questions about placement and pricing and when it came to doing the deed she was very comforting, quick and professional. She had me laughing and smiling the whole time. Hold on to this gem! Thank you!!!

My wife and I walked-in yesterday afternoon around 2pm for an inquiry. Shared a photo of the tattoo I wanted and was told to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. Thirty minutes later we arose and walked out. Granted the place is clean and organized, as well as busy. Perhaps it was a combination of my inpatients and their being busy. Unless you like being on hold for half an hour I suggest calling ahead and make an appointment. Nevertheless, I will head elsewhere.

Nice, clean professional place! Very clean, covid checks, the lobby and all the decorative art was so cool as well awesome style! The receptionist were both nice, friendly, and made a comfortable atmosphere. They were very willing to work with your budget and get you the tattoo you want for the price you want. My tattoo artist was Tommy Gunz and he was perfect!! Such a talented guy, very respectful and professional. He was able to give me the tattoo I wanted for the price I wanted. He added more to the tattoo to make it better than I expected!! I recommend to use tommy for your tattoos he’s the best!! Best tattoo shop in San Diego hands down!!

Went there last weekend. Could not be happier! My husband and I got couples tatoos by Marty. They are amazing! We have gotten so many compliments! Everyone there was awesome and friendly. The place could not have been any cleaner. You guys rock !

All of these artists are fantastic, but I have found my permanent one in Ivan. His black and white art is phenomenal. His shading is so detailed and amazing and I am never going anywhere else. I started my sleeve with him, will finish it with him, and for all my other artistic body needs, Ivan and this shop are my go to for life now.

Got my nostril pierced by Khalen and he was really cool. He explained what he was doing the whole time he was working which I appreciated. He also explained the aftercare process really wellIt was a wednesday night so there wasnt really anyone else there. From the time I got there until i left took maybe 20 minutes so it was pretty quick.I also like that all their piercing prices are listed on their website.

Came here 2 times, first time was for a tongue piercing and found out it was overpriced compared to multiple other places.Second time was a tattoo. Also way more expensive than almost every other option out there. Also, I found out that the person that did the tattoo did it too deep and made it bleed a lot.They also messed up on one of the colors so I have to get that fixed. They wouldnt compensate for the mess up so I dont recommend coming here unless youre fine overpaying for poor quality.If I could rate negative stars I would.

I have to say that my visit to SD Tattoo was amazing! First, let me start by saying this is the last piece for my back. Over the past 6 yrs I have seen great artists from Florida to Hawaii, some in between and even Canada (shout out to Alexis @ GST)! All have their own special talent and creativity.I began communicating via email with an assistant (one of the Jacks), and he read my requests and saw my reference pictures. After a few more emails, he paired me with the talent that would best satisfy my request.My first impression was a warm welcome by the other Jack and then came the artist. I was pleasantly surprised by another friendly face and welcome which calmed my nerves bc I didnt know who would be doing the work. When we spoke and I explained what I wanted, he looked over the emails, and then came the sketch. This artist came up with a beautiful picture which incorporated the surrounding tattoos to make this EPIC piece look as if it was meant to be there. I was impressed to say the least.With that said, I just want to thank IVAN the artist for the stunning art work, being so friendly, and making me feel welcome. And, Thank you Jack for pairing me with him.I highly recommend SD Tattoo to anyone who values great art work and respects the talents of professional tattoo artists.Have a Blessed Day!

Had a great time with Bryan today! Made my first tattooing experience very comfortable and would definitely go back for more. The rest of the SD tattoo were super nice and conversational. Would recommend.

My sister and I were visiting for her 30th Birthday and came into the shop to get sister tattoos and we could not have had a better experience! Austin was our artist and he was the best! Very kind and so talented! I will travel back from Colorado to get another tat by him! Thank you all for being so badass! Best shop I have been to!

KYRA! She was amazing!! Got my FIRST ever piercing here which was a septum, she explained what it would be like, the process etc. Very quick, pain free and simple. Barely gave me any time to overthink it. Will be going back to her for my earlobes. Thank you Kyra!!

Love this place, doesnt look like much from the outside but when you walk through the door its a totally different place, Just got my tattoo done after 2 sessions and Ivan did an amazing job, his attention to detail are very impressive, I got a color portrait of my daughter on my rib cage, I know this is a pretty bad spot for an artist to work, but he nailed it, very skilled. I will definitely be going back to get more tattoos by Ivan, thanks a lot bro, keep doing an amazing job!

They pierced my 3 month old ears and she put the wrong earrings. I respectfully made it clear that the ones they put on her ears were not the ones that I wanted. The cashier didnt even bring a manager or nothing to settle things out even after I explainedwhat had happened. There were people behind me and my baby was in pain so I just paid and left.

Have been to several tattoo shops in my visits here.SD was by far one of the best. Very clean shop with extremely friendly staff. I got a tattoo from Don...simply amazing!! He is very personable and extremely talented!!! We visit San Diego every year and I will definitely get my next tattoo with Don!!!

Went in to get my first tattoo, staff was very welcoming, 5 star experience. Ivan did an awesome work, highly recommend him for black and grey realism. Thank you guys, I’ll definitely be coming back !

Do not recommend for piercings. I got a helix and my navel done on the same day. My navel was pierced to where it wasn’t really on my belly button and was sideways and I had to take it out because there was no space for swelling so the piercing was beginning to go into my skin and was a week and a half later. My helix is pierced to where the front is good but the back hole is shifted down so it pierced diagonal instead of straight. It’s not worth the headache go somewhere else!

Went here to get my seconds repierced and my thirds. kyra was my piercer and she did such an amazing job, made me feel super comfortable to be there overall was a great experience, will definitely come back again if i want another piercing done.

I got work done from a artist named Bubba. He is truly a great person all around. I told him my vision, and he turned it to my forever piece of art. I’m Forever thankful!! I constantly get compliments on my Beautiful tattoo. Thank you BUBBA!!!!

Came to SD Tattoo for some ink and a design in mind. Marty immediately took my idea and turned it into a reality. It was a 2 session process, but well worth it! I would definitely recommend not only my Tattoo artist Marty, but SD Tattoo as well. Great environment, chill staff, and actually take the time to talk to you about your design.

They handled my piercings very carefully, especially with this type of piercings being very hard to do, aka hip piercings. Also, they were very updated with their technology and very updated modern style! Great to go to if you need to be informed about your piercings and for after care.

I spent a few hours researching a location to get a tattoo. I ended up finding this one and all the reviews were so good so I had to try it out. I went and everyone and I mean EVERYONE was soo attentive and beyond nice! Unlike other shops I’ve been to everyone says “hi” but that’s it nothing else. SD tattoo goes above and beyond including the artist even if you’re not getting a tattoo by them they check in on you while you get work done and ask if you need anything and it was very refreshing. Now the artist I had the pleasure of being with was Mikey and his work is impeccable I can not explain how obsessed I am with my tattoo. His lines are CLEAN and STRAIGHT. I was very impressed with his work and he is super nice, when I did talk with him he was very professional and helpful *we didn’t talk much because for some reason I can’t talk when getting a tattoo hahaha has nothing to do with Mikey” overall my experience from walking in to sitting for 2+ hours getting my tattoo I left with a really great appreciation for the entire team! If you need work done they ALL are beyond talented but I’m going to have to be a little bias and say go with Mikey hahaha but whoever it is they will do amazing! I also had the pleasure of watching another artist give a young lady her first tattoo and she was so nervous!! But to see how he was able to calm her nerves and walk her through step by step of what was happening was so awesome! She was super great-full and got through the whole thing *it was on her side on her rib* and I was very impressed! I can not say enough about the team dynamic and this location, I definitely would give more stars if I could.

Got a forward helix done a couple weeks ago. I ignored all the red flags. As soon as I walked in there were tons of people for piercings so it was people in and out quite quick. The piercer was nice enough and answered a couple questions but was more focused in getting me in and out. Understandable. They had run out of flat back labret so I was given the choice between a straight or a curved barbell both 10mm (way too long, even for the accommodation of swelling). The piercing bleed quite a bit (blood down my ears and cheek as I was paying for my service). There was minimal after care instructions and quite a bit of brusing. I was a week in during the healing and the piercing started migrating to the surface. When I swapped the barbell for a flatback it was clear I couldnt save it because of the angle and tissue that was pierced.

Marianne listened to my ideas and designed an amazing piece for the beginning of my sleeve. She was very friendly and professional. Worked straight through for 4 hours without breaks. She is an amazing artist and I couldnt be happier with the work she did.

My wife and I just got matching tattoos at SD Tattoo a few days ago. The friendly and family like vibe was something to remember. From the girls at the front all the way up to Scotty, the owner of the shop who came out to introduce himself to us, gave us this warm welcome and made us feel like weve known them for years. Our artist Jason was such a professional and a gentleman. We came in without an appointment and he was totally accommodating and patient with us. He sketched up our idea and put it to life. He had a soft hand and didnt spare the details. The tattoos look beautiful and i would recommend this place to anyone. Whether its your first tattoo or 100th, a small piece or a masterpiece this place knows what theyre doing and they know how to treat people. I will most definitely come here again and im for sure sending people here as well. Much respect and admiration to Jason, Scotty and his crew.

I have to agree with the other reviews that indicated this is the shop to go to if you want custom work done. I understand and have to accept the fact I am currently classified as heavily tattooed.I did the research and stopped by the shop and discussed my current ink and my plans forward with Scottie, Scottie was able to pick up where my old artist left off. My old artist was great, but the work Scottie just did for me is some of the best (Black and gray) work Ive ever seen, he freehanded the layout and there is so much detail, depth and life to the work I will only let Scottie do my work from now on.I highly recommended the SD Tattoo and their artists, why else would I fly from out of town to get my work done?

I had an incredible experience at this tattoo shop! I didnt have an appointment but they were able to fit me in right away. Ryno did mine and was completely amazing! I will definitely be going back for more and referring everyone to them.

Well, my experience was going really well until it was time to pay.Flash Friday....$20 for a 1 inch tattoo in black and gray. I saw Renegade, who was extremely fun to be tattooed by. Afterwards, standing in line for 15 minutes to pay was a drag because there was only 2 people between me and the register. I ended up getting over charged because of the fact that I did not get color, wasn’t communicated to the cashier. Soooo instead of $20, I was charged $40! Their solution was to give me a free aftercare cleanser worth $15, instead of a refund and recharge. By the way...the aftercare was expired by 3 months.Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. Tattoo artist was fantastic, cashier..not so much.

After being in a hurry and waiting for 30 min to buy jewelry I left. However, when the owner saw my name crossed out on his list he made a personal phone call and text to make sure I had what I needed. I was impressed how he handled it or even cared for that matter, since when ieft I wasnt happy. I will be returning to get what I needed and have a tattoo consultation, then will further update the review. It did seem to be clean, just very busy.

This is by far the best tattoo place in SD. I’ve gotten my tattoos and piercings their and love my results. Dentlok is an amazing tattooer so be sure to hit him up when you go in. I’ve referred so many friends and family who have fell in love as well.

Juice did my tattoo. First of all, he showed up 45 mins late and called my tattoo idea “shit”. I wanted to back out but could not because of 100 dollar non refundable. My tattoo has a lot of emotional connotations with my childhood. He just made me so upset by saying “its gonna look like shit” rather than giving constructive feedback. Highly disappointed.

Super great staff woman with red hair and glasses made it super pleasant to be their super helpful and friendly .. place was clean ....the piercer was nice but did not do my piercing straight witch was a bummer so I had him remove it. I feel like he did not have the experience to work their.now Im left with a bruised face . I will definitely not go back ..

Very kind and patient. I got my first tattoo and was still figuring out what I wanted. They helped me and its worth the price. They go over how to care for it and make sure you understand. Helpful with any questions I had and cheerful the entire time.

Got piercings done here. They do not take appointments for piercings - waited 2 hours for first visit. I left the second time after waiting 1.5 hours and hearing from front desk there was still 2+ hour wait.Don’t recommend. Go to a real piercing place for piercings.
