I’d like to give this shop a 100/100 !!!!I made an appointment about a month ago with Antonio aka TONY here and my goodness was this the best tattoo experience I have ever had. From the moment to booking to questions and concerns to paperwork everything was professional. If you’re hesitating on booking here DON’T . I’ll be coming back to him forsure . Felt very welcoming , the ambiance was amazing and the tattoo session was smooth . He’s a PERFECTIONIST JUST LIKE ME and worth every penny ! Thank you Tony

Before you read any further I would like make it clear that the piercer herself was AMAZING she made me feel extremely comfortable, shop was very clean as well as everything she used, everyone was very respectful, and the piercing was done with little to no trauma and very quickly. That being said I would like to talk about a few things, I got a tongue piercing and have a pretty small mouth and my piercings don’t usually swell too much, the bar that was used was HUGE, like so big I couldn’t close my mouth properly or talk that well without bruising the bottom of my mouth from the bottom bell. I expressed my concern and she said it’s just in case of swelling which I completely understand, but after about three days I couldn’t talk without pain from my jaw closing on the jewelry, eat properly, or sleep without drooling or bending my piercing in a slightly uncomfortable way that definitely wasn’t good for healing and began to get whitish gunk on and around the piercing so I went into another shop in SLC and the piercer there told me that the bar was definitely too large and could be the source of the irritation from sliding around a ton in my mouth and that the bar needs to be able to sit straight while healing or it won’t heal properly. Overall great experience but if I’m paying 80$ for a piercing I would like to not have to go and spend an extra 20$ on jewelry because the original piercer put an adult man mouth sized bar in my mouth

THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! I had an idea of what I wanted and it came out better than I could have imagined. So much better that I came back for 3 more. Staff is friendly and the vibe is awesome.

Mike did the most amazing job and redid some work that had faded. I got a special tattoo for my mom who recently passed and he made the experience way better than I could have imagined.

My gal has been getting tattooed by Mike at the Black PEARL for several years. He does great work ,is always on time, and his prices are very reasonable considering how good his artwork is. Give them a try!

Really clean shop with rad art hanging along the walls. Alyssa Anderson was very professional and kind. She created the perfect first tattoo for me! I love my snail house!! She has a wonderful way with colors, highly recommend!!

I’ve been tattooed at 7 different tattoo shops in Santa Cruz and I’ve defiantly found my forever home at Black Pearl. Mike tattooed me and his energy, art and business mind is exciting and inspiring to be present for. I went into Black Pearl with a difficult tattoo to complete. A large piece started and stopped by 2 separate artists. The final product is beautiful and stunning and I’m so impressed! Can’t wait to go back and get tattooed again.

Excellent tatoo work and good people. Mike Espinosa is a very talented and practiced artist. The facility is clean but still has character (not sterile and bland.)

Bonnie is a wonderful tattoo artist—absolutely gifted in personality and talent.My youngest turned 18 recently and wanted their first tattoo. Bonnie worked with them to make it a perfect experience. She somehow found a way to balance being patient and fast so the event was excellent.The shop is clean and organized. Everyone follows careful protocol to make sure clients and staff are safe and healthy. I highly recommend this place.

Pierced my Medusa off center crooked and didn’t even check for large veins or anything

Walked in for a small black work piece on my forearm. My artist was Alyssa who did an amazing job. She was friendly, professional, and very helpful in consulting me and helping me to decide the placement and size of the tattoo. Shes pretty quick when it comes to designing and tattooing and still maintains a high standard. The shop is cozy and clean and Alyssa kept everything sterile and changed her gloves often. Overall I had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone, from someone getting their first piece to someone who already has many tattoos.

Super kind staff, and very well done piercings... I got my tragus done on both sides by a piercer (not sure of his name). He gave me detailed care instructions, and was talkative which helped- very kind as well. He did the piercings perfectly, each were centered very nicely, and everything was sterile. The piercings also didn’t hurt, and he did them very quickly with little discomfort- also, the price was great!! Definitely worth getting a piercing here, and I would absolutely go back again!!EDIT- it’s been about a month and twenty days since my piercing... I was messing with the stud, and the front part became loose, and I was happy to see that I was pierced with internally threaded jewelry :)) just thought I would add that. Good place to get pierced!

Just wanna say a HUGE thank you to the wonderful Katie!!! Recently I got a memorial tattoo back in my hometown (NC) for my Grandmother, and my baby. The tattoo came out really choppy, almost like a child did it and quite frankly, very amateur. but Katie made it beautiful and I can’t thank her enough. I’m coming back to get the rest of the memorial tattoo fixed, but what she did tonight I couldn’t be happier. Seriously at a loss for words for what I thought was a lost cause turned into this amazing piece. I don’t know how to add a photo otherwise I would. Katie is amazing she had amazing vibes and was easy to talk to I feel like I’ve known her forever. The other workers were really nice and was supporting her while there. The shop is amazing, and the people are amazing. 10 out of 10 would forever recommend

Went in for a nostril piercing, met with Josh, and the experience was amazing. The piercing was quick, his information regarding switching out the jewelry, aftercare, and considerations to take during the healing process left me with no more questions to ask. The selection of jewelry was exactly what I was looking for and the placement of the piercing was exactly where id pictured it in my head. The staff are very professional and friendly, would highly recommend this location for your future piercings.

Went in to get my nostril pierced and the service was great! Josh was the one who pierced me and he was super nice and explained everything great! The piercing process was no longer than 2 seconds and we were there for no more than 15 minutes. I’ll definitely be going there for future piercings!

I was on vacation visiting a friend who lives in the area. We walked in to see if we could get matching tattoo’s. To our surprise they had an immediate opening for both of us. They got us right in and did an amazing job! We were super happy to share this memorable experience. The staff was super professional and personable. I would highly recommend this place!

Josh was great! Wanted to get my 3rd piercing on my lobe done again and it was great. Took no time at all. Didnt hurt too much. Any little pain was completely gone in 2 hours or less. He was very informative and did a perfect job.

Went for piercings for my friends birthday. They did my friend first and he got nipple piercings. They pierced one of them crooked and one was okay, but a week later started getting buried. The next one was my other friend who got an eyebrow piercing. They pierced it pretty much directly through her eyebrow. Both have taken it out since and we will not be coming back

Great atmosphere and great people. The apprentice that did my tattoo did a great job with a great personality. Will definitely return.

If you want bottom of the barrel terrible tattoos see a guy name Skan from here he will ruin your tattoo and then expect a bunch of money for it definitely avoid him like the plague I dont know about the other artist but I assume if they let someone like that work here their work is probably on the same level
