The artists are truly talented and professional. Joseph did an amazing job on my tattoo, and I couldnt be happier with the result. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating, making sure that I was comfortable throughout the process.The shop is also impeccably clean. Stopped in a couple days ago on my last night in Sant Cruz for family vacation. Getting a quick tattoo is my favorite personal souvenir of every vacation I venture out to.My first impression walking in was how clean this shop is. I loved looking at all the pictures on the wall. I showed Adrianne a picture on my phone of the idea I had but, told her to put her own spin on it. She did such an awesome job I am in love with this tattoo!The stereo wasnt working, sadly, but it was really relaxing to just look at all the pictures and hear nothing but the buzzing of the machine aside from some small talk. Adrianne was super cool, the price of my piece was actually lower than expected. With the skill she has she could charge anything she wanted.Sadly, I wanted to buy a t-shirt but they didnt have a size Medium so Ill have to find a way to order one.So happy I found this shop. I will recommend them to anyone I know headed to that area.Thanks again!

What a great experience for my first tattoo. I was requesting a very simple tattoo and Jeremy approached it with the utmost professionalism. He was meticulous about preparing the space, equipment and design which removed any concerns I had about the process. The whole experience was lovely! I got star tattoos on my hipbone, and the woman (Adrianne) was absolutely wonderful and very respectful and my tattoos turned out beautiful! I will for sure be back.

My Best Friend & I decided on a girls trip that tattoos were needed before going home so the hunt for a shop that accepts walk-ins began & we decided on Paradise. We arrived at opening to get on the walk-in list. Joey had 1 customer before us & within an hour we were up. He took his time & made sure we were happy with the design, placement & execution of the tattoo. Would 100% come back for my future art. Took the weekend to get away and celebrate my birthday. After such a memorable beautiful weekend me and my boyfriend wanted to take home a forever souvenir. Paradise tattoo stood out to us so we thought we would take a peek inside. Once we walked in we met Joey. Within five minutes I knew I was in good hands. First off I told him what I wanted and he provided me with about 15 sketches to make sure I got the exact size and look I wanted. He was so patient with me he was so personal and he truly made the entire experience. He made me feel as if I was a VIP. His shop and the way he carried him self was extremely professional but also down to earth a combo you don’t come by often. After this experience I don’t want to get a tattoo done anywhere else. He was kind, patient and completely made me feel comforted and heard. I would have to say that this was one of my top experiences when it came to getting a tattoo. I can not wait to return, I LOVE how my art turned out!!! He left me feeling excited, happy and completely taken care of. Joseph James (Joey) is an artist and his kindness and patience really made this experience for me. Both my boyfriend and I plan to come back because we now have a favorite artist! We walked in on a very busy memorial day and were accommodated very well. especially for being such a large group. I love this place! I actually came here for my first ever tattoo (excluding stick n poke) and I loved it! I’m not sure what my pain tolerance is but it didn’t hurt at all! Maybe just like a cat scratch on some parts. Most importantly, as a queer, neurodivergent woman, I felt extremely safe and listened to. I wanted to make one change which was easily done and everyone was very nice. I would recommend for anyone - regardless of how many tattoos you already have!

Went here over a year ago with a friend of mine after calling and getting a quote for a tattooni eanted on the back of my legs. the guy/tattoo artist on text said he was available, but when we got there he said he wasn’t and that he didn’t know whobwe talked to on the phone but the shop was busy for the day. he was super rude, especially when we were trying to inquire about payment methods. we only went because their sister shop close to seabright was closed. but after reading numerous reviews, it seems that this specific shop has had multiple complaints from ucsc students, especially asian people. so from one asian to another, take your money some place else.sincerely, a girl with over 16 tattoos

I came to Paradise Tattoo to receive my first tattoo ever. The moment I stepped in I was greeted by their wonderful & kind receptionist. She has an amazing spirit and is willing to take the time to make appointments for clients and sends out reminders to ensure clients do not miss out on their tattoo opportunities! The inside of the shop is very clean, the music they play is dope and mixed with so many genres to enjoy. I loved the tattoo artists as they were very welcoming and made me feel like a guest in their home. I had the honor of receiving my tattoo from Mr Joseph James and he is very thorough in his process and loves talking to his clients. He’s one of the most humble people I have ever met who has a desire of sharing honest life knowledge and wisdom. He’s not afraid to crack jokes and share his encouraging energy with others. If you’re looking for a nice first tattoo experience definitely come here! My boyfriend and I called ahead on a Sunday to see if they were accepting walk in (which they were!!) and told us to come in at 1pm (we called right at noon so super quick!). Justin was our artist and did a fantastic job, he was super sweet and quick, line work was fantastic. Anyway love this place and love Justin COME CHECK IT OUT!!

I had a great time, they were what seemed the only shop doing Friday the 13th tattoos in Santa Cruz this 2021. I was able to get on the wait-list just in time. Super happy with my artist and staff. I now want an old school tattoo added to my collection of body art because of all the beautiful work they had around the shop. Would definitely go back to possibly get that done by them!😆

I have been to shops before this and I have to say they are the most welcoming shop in Santa Cruz :) I’ve gotten two pieces so far at this location, been satisfied every time. Called a few places in town looking for walk in availability while on an overnight trip to see a band @ Catalyst. The only friendly professional response came from Paradise. The owner ended up tattooing my husband and I and did a beautiful job. We are heavily tattooed and from out of town and it was nice to walk in to Paradise, feel comfortable, and trust. Came in for a walk-in with a drawing of a taxidermy fish and Mars took on my little drawing, evened/cleaned it up, I was hella nervous because it was my first tattoo but Mars took my design and made it really something to marvel at. Overall just made it a really comfortable experience, it was so clean and he was super conscious/considerate of how I was doing with the pain for my first time and I got to leave with two pieces I am absolutely in love with. The line work is simply stunning and neat and I don’t think I’ll ever stop looking at my arm. I 10/10 recommend, absolutely coming back for more :’))

My fiance and I got a couple of amazing tattoos done here by Joseph James. We really appreciate how he took his time with his sketches to really nail what we wanted. He was fun to talk to and the shop was clean and had a great atmosphere. We couldnt be more happy with the work he did for us. We will definitely be going back in the future.

Great experience! A memory to remember forever. I had been wanting a tattoo for a while and Im so glad that I waited. We drove 6 hours to Santa Cruz for my mom’s birthday and the best part was I finally got a matching tattoo with my mom. Everyone was very nice and patient with us. Went here on a day trip and a random search and had one of the best experiences being tattoed ever by Justin!!! There’s a ton of different flash options and he made sure we got exactly what we wanted and ALSO he was amped by the whole process, so kind and genuine. The time flew by and cant wait to come back.

Nic was amazing! He did matching tattoos for my friend and I and took our concept and reference, put his own spin on it and gave us what we wanted. He was easy going, nice, and held conversation to keep me occupied throughout the tattoo. Another artist, Adrian, was in the shop and he joined in on the conversation while he tattooed. Overall great vibes, great artists, and great finished tattoo! Would totally recommend the shop and come back next time I’m in Santa Cruz.

My partner and I celebrated our engagement by getting custom skeleton tattoos. Joseph incorporated all of our ideas into two amazing pieces! He worked with us over a couple rough draft ideas and executed our pieces well. We love out of town, but would definitely come back.

My friend and I walked in on a friday night and got the chance to meet amazing Adrian…he not only was super fun to be with, he also helped my friend who got their first tattoo and was very nervous with her anxiety. David was the artist who did my piece today.He was very helpful, very precise, very understanding, and made sure I was completely satisfied with my tattoo. He was very pleasant with conversation during the session. He took pride in giving me this very meaningful tattoo as well. I would come back to Santa Cruz just for him to tattoo me again (and I’m from Southern CA)! Josie was always extremely polite. She had excellent customer service and was completely sympathetic to the meaning of my tattoo. It was something I really appreciated. Thank you to Paradise Tattoo!!!

Please don’t read this as criticizing the parlor in all, I’m sure other artists are great, but I had a horrible experience with one. He was probably 30s, long hair, skinny. Very nice guy, but really rough job. If you look at the picture you will see how sloppy his work was. It took him maybe 30 minutes and he charged me $200. Horrible experience. Definitely avoid!

Came in for a walk in and with no idea of what I wanted. They kindly let us spend our time looking through all the flash books until we found the right one. Got a scorpion tattoo that came out super clean. Quick and painless!
