Sun Gold Tattoo & Barber

Hubby and I went interested in their gumball tattoos, we were greeted by a very nice lady & she took our info.We left & got a response within 30 minutes. We were told the gumball machine was permanently out of comission (even though it was in the shop and the top can be removed) but could draw up custom pieces or if we had an idea he could draw that. We were bummed. I think it was more that he didnt wanna do (2) 50.00 tattoos.Whatever. We ended up with great spontaneous tattoos once we got home although Scottsdale would have been ideal.

Since the first time I got my haircut and beard trimmed with Parker I can say that every penny I spend and every mile that I travel to get to his location is absolutely worth it!! (I live 36 minutes away).

I love this shop! Daniel has been tattooing me and my husband for over 4 years. He’s extremely easy to work with and does excellent work. I love every single piece he has created, whether it was from a picture or something that he free-handed. I can’t say enough good things about him! And of course, the shop is always clean and has a great atmosphere. My husband also sees Parker for hair and beard cuts/styling. He really takes his time and hubby always looks like a million bucks after Parker works his magic. This place does not disappoint!!

Zoe does an amazing job, her line work is so clean. She is awesome to talk with when getting tattoos, her station and equipment are super clean. Zoe is a 10/10 great tattoo artist and I recommend her to everyone when they are talking about getting a tattoo.

Sun Gold Tattoo & Barber is easily the best barber shop in South Scottsdale. Parker is not only the best barber Ive ever had, he is also a great person. He is incredibly detail-oriented and takes pride in the work he does. Ive never left Sun Gold dissatisfied with my haircut.Also, the shop itself is cool. Great environment, good music, the option to drink local beer from the tap. Since I came to the shop when it opened, Ive not gone to any other place for a haircut. Check it out.

Good atmosphere, good music, everyone has great customer service. Paul is awesome, I’ve gotten so many tattoos from him. His artwork is amazing, very creative, great detail and takes the time to make sure placement makes sense with your body, which I appreciate. I’ve only gone here for my tattoos for a while now and now my mom will only go to Paul for her tattoos also!

Ive been going to Sun Gold for a couple years now. Its a unique but well done establishment as they partner and share space with a tattoo shop. Sun Gold has friendly barbers with a wide variety of services. Parker is passionate about his craft and his business, attends Barber conventions, teaches his craft, and even has been on some Barber pod casts. He only hires barbers that want to join him in being recognized as the top barber shop in Arizona. Chickie and Larry are also highly skilled and produce great haircuts. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality barber services or some sick tattoo artwork.

As a new Local to the area, I visited this shop in the search for a new regular barber located within a fairly convenient distance of my new residence.Overall, the shop is definitely a vibe in and of itself; mellow setting paired nicely with a chill environment. Can tend to be slightly confusing for the first time comer, depending on the service you are in search of. The tattoo parlor is what you immediately enter into, then the barber shop is set apart off to the side. If your looking to get a haircut, this spot is primarily appointment based, but will do walk-ins as best as possible.Now, to the real meat and potatoes; again, overall, haircut was decent, fair bald fade as requested, but was not sure if the barber really knew what I was requesting be done for styling the top part of the cut. In summary, paid $30 + Tip for a quick, 25 minute, fair cut. Again, and I emphasize, place is decent, but overall, will probably continue on in my search for my new regular Barber, as I feel it was a bit pricey for a cut that took less than 30 minutes && in honesty, recieved perhaps half-attention by the Barber.Might be a whole different story for regulars that frequent this place, but off first impressions, I cannot say that I am sold unfortunately.

Been coming here for years and never stopped to tell others how much I appreciate this place and how good the work is... I’ve been coming to Chickie for many years now. I even followed her from south tempe to the new location here. I’ve been meaning to leave a review for quite some time. Let’s just say every time I come to get my haircut, I’m hungover, tired, awake, whatever, she always does the best and reads my vibes and acts accordingly and asks me, “the usual” and I say yes. She’s very skilled and I like my hair done correctly, and I won’t let anyone else touch my hair besides her. I appreciate you Chickie

I would give 5 stars for my barber experiences, Ive only had my hair cut by Parker and Larry, both of these guys do a phenomenal job.I have gotten Tattoos here from 2 different artists, my favorite artist so far is Joe, Hes efficient, accurate, and an overall good guyI did have one painful experience getting a tattoo done here though. It was a little rushed, and not exact, but it still looks good. Youll get a decent tattoo here at a fair price.

Sun Gold Tattoo & Barber is the real deal! From the minute you walk in the door, its clearly evident that these guys go about their business the right way. Very clean, great setup and most importantly a very friendly staff. Daniel is working on my back-piece and does phenomenal work. Ive been going to Sun Gold for over a year for my haircuts and cant say enough about Parker and Chickie. Both barbers do an outstanding job and I always leave feeling great about my haircut. Parker is amazing!! Not only is he an incredibly nice, genuine, and down to earth guy; he is seriously a master at his craft. I would highly recommend Parker for all your grooming needs. If you have a beard, you owe it to yourself to entrust Parker with making it look impeccable. I’ve never had as many compliments and questions as to where I had my beard trimmed after Parker does his magic. The shop is pretty amazing too; so welcoming and relaxing and super friendly artists. I live down the street from this barber shop so I decided to give it a try. It ended up being a great decision! So far, I’ve gotten two great haircuts from Chickie and plan to stick with her when I book more. I was very impressed during my second visit when she remembered the cut I had gotten the first time I visited a month earlier. I also love how easy it is to book online through their website, it’s great to avoid waiting an hour + like you do in walk-in only barber shops.

Joe Tower is my artist. Hes extremely friendly and is reworking an old ratio of mine. So far iit is coming out gorgeous and I cannot wait to finish it! The shop is beautifully decorated and clean. There is a separate area for the barbers who do excellent work/fades ( Im a hairstylist, I know!). Theres also a female barber who offers more than barbering as she can also do a wide range of color services. All of the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!!!

Great experience- this is a clean and aesthetically pleasing shop with talented artists. Everyone is friendly and I highly recommend Ryan M. Since he was the artist who completed a gorgeous bottom portion to a sleeve project. I have been to him twice and will return for a completion and really any other tattoo I intend on getting in the future. He really has a large range of talent to meet the varying visions of his clients.

Been going to Daniel for 6 1/2 years and when I tell you he is the best tattoo artist in AZ right now Im not lieing! The new shop is modern, clean and a great spot for a tattoo or haircut. Great tattoo shop. Lots of open space, seating. Joe Tower has been my artist for years, and we followed him here. Everyone working there is super friendly, all my tattoos done by him have turned out great. Work from their other artists looks good too, and it looks like their barbers know what they’re doing (although I’ve never used those services).

This shop, the employees and owners are top notch! This isnt just hip shop, although it is styled really cool, it also comfortable and super clean...most of all, it has really talented and passionate artists. My brother, husband and I have known Daniel for years and his work is amazing! From the smallest lip Tattoos, to full sleeves, the result is always the same, rididculusly good tattoos. We appreciate his creativity and ability to transform a vague idea, into a tangible piece of art. His free-hand is also super note-worthy. For sure one of the best artists and shops out there.

Chickie is the best. ive changed the way I style my hair several time throughout the years of having her cut my hair and no matter what I want to do with it she always get it done right. Shes a perfectionist and it shows. My hair looks amazing every time I leave. Also, cant beat the fun and friendly atmosphere. Highly highly recommend.

I loved this place. Quiet yet trendy. Many designs and ideas are there for your browsing. I met with Daniel. Very talented artist. Was helpful with choosing the design. Knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to talk with. Prices were fair and competitive. The tattoo i got is very personal and Daniel listened to the story behind it, a great listener.

Sun Gold is an amazing shop, from the quality of work, the likeability of the barbers and tattooers, and very cool decor. My first AZ tattoo! I went to Daniel and couldnt be more pleased. I gave him the idea I wanted, he drew it up and I had my tattoo within days of first contacting him. So quick! The art is perfectly detailed with clean lines and the exact style that I love, Daniel was good at making small changes to the design after the first drawing of it and the tattooing of it took very little time with no skills spared. Definitely RECOMMEND! I cant wait to go back and get more. :-)

CHICKIE! Im sad to be moving states so I cant get my hair cut here anymore. Chickie was a great barber and I always left with a smile and confidence boost after a cut by her! Good prices, great location, cool atmosphere, great conversation. I never did get a tattoo here but saw tons of people seeming happy with their work.

Paul was the rudest tattoo artist I’ve ever worked with. He was acting stuck up since we walked in. An artist’s job is supposed to make the customer’s vision for their tattoo, but he would huff any time I politely asked for things to be tweaked. I’ve never had to deal with such a rude person who told me to my face that I’m a “shitty person.” It’s unprofessional and plain mean. 1 star for at least allowing me to leave without paying for the time. I wasn’t acting like a Karen - there was no good reason to treat me like that.

I will never have another person put a single stitch of ink on my body! Daniel is a top notch artist and an even better person! And don’t forget to check out the barber shop, some pretty perfect cuts walking out of that place! Keep it up Mr. Miagee!

I love this concept! I followed my girl Chickie when she moved over to this barbershop. Theres no weird feeling you get in some hair salons or trendy tattoo shops. Everyone here is genuine. The place is clean and nicely set up. I cant wait to come back for my next tattoo.

The barber shop is on point. Everytime I get a haircut, its so fresh and clean. I like the fact the barbers clean their equipment and wash their hands in between each client. I went to sun gold tattoo shop Thursday Aug 26 because I saw good reviews about the shop. HOWEVER, It was the worst experience Ive ever had. Let me tell you. PAUL RUIZ was working on me. He wasnt really professional and on the top of that HE REALLY DIDNT CARE ABOUT MY PAIN he was hurrying and just wanted to finish his work to get more money from me. He charged me $400. Their tattoo chair was murdering me. I was in pain for the whole time which from 5pm until 8:30pm from the chair and I ended up with unfinished work because he was too slow. I even told him please stop in the middle of the tattoo and I will come after the tattoo heals and finish it I said that because i had a breakdown and he wasnt understanding at all and he didnt stop. He just cares about money not his clients.

A friend recommended this shop and the tattoo artist, Zoe. I’m not going to recommend or come back to this shop. I didn’t intend to anyways. It was obvious she didn’t like what I had chosen to be put on my body. She didn’t say anything about the design and even had a look on her face of disinterest, and even a vibe, that said ‘really? you wanted this?’ She really rushed through it and the lines are very shaky. It was a simple outline but still you should put in effort. Also I feel like we were charged way too much. Was told she charged by the hour and the tattoo did not take even 10 minutes.

I highly recommend this place for your next tattoo, especially with Daniel. He did awesome work! So happy with my first tattoo, and for someone new to getting inked, I felt welcomed and got exactly what I wanted. Already thinking about where I want my next tattoo now - I’ll definitely be back!

Place looks amazing and fresh! Very modern and groovy interior and the hancho in charger Daniel is a true professional really. From amazing art and creativity, too just being a good overal guy. Meet a lad named Parker and saw him cutting up some hair, a true wizard with the clips if I must say. From fade to blade this man can do it all, he could cut a perfectly good Mohawk on a turkey on thanksgiving day. In all seriousness haircut or tat, go see the good guys and gals over there at sun gold.

Found Parker about a year ago. Couldnt find anyone to trim my beard to save my life. Id white knuckle it through every trim I got until I found Parker! He is AMAZING at his craft! I dont trust anyone else to come near my beard. If youre like me and have a hard time finding the right beard guy....TRUST me when I say Parker is your guy!

Paul is AMAZING. He did 2 tattoos for me...one of which was a cover up. He worked fast but his attention to detail blew me away. You cant ask for a better tattoo artist. The man knows his ink!!!!

If you live anywhere in the Phoenix metro area and want a quality beard and/or hair cut you have to go to Sungold and see Parker! I drive about 45 minutes every 3 weeks just to see Parker because he is an amazing barber and the only one I will ever let cut my beard!

Chickie cut my hair and did an awesome job! Really good fade with the perfect length at top. I’m super picky about my barbers and she did a killer job. I’d for sure recommend.

Best haircut and beard trim Ive ever had. Ive gotten more compliments on this than any other cut and trim Ive had. Although it cost more than my usual cut Ill definitely be back. Maybe every other cut.
