Flaming Dragon Tattoo

Scott completed my first sleeve a couple of years ago and we’re working on my other arm now. He’s an incredible artist and has been super pleasant to work with and accommodating in scheduling when life has thrown me a couple of curveballs. All the other artists in the shop I’ve met are professional and seem to do consistently good work too.

Brad is the man! I came in with a custom tattoo I had drawn up, and he did an awesome job with it. Did it the same day I came in as well. Was not expecting that. Will definitely come back!V A P O R W A V E I S D E A D .

Excellent, skilled artists work here while also being pleasant to talk with during sessions. The latest in sanitation practices as well as post-session maintenance for best possible healed work. I have no complaints. Perhaps cheaper tattoo work could be had elsewhere. But for the artwork I want for the rest of my life, I will be going with Flaming Dragon. My artist has been Scott in the recent past, and he was, and no doubt, will be a fantastic choice. Stellar line work, shading, and experience in applying these techniques and more to each piece he works on.

Flaming Dragon’s owner first tattoo’d me in 1996, he was working in Ponders back then. Then along came Flaming Dragon, it bounced around T-Town a few times and landed on 6th Avenue. When I see claims of some shop or tattooist being this, that or whatever… I wonder what their reference point is. Scott started tattooing me 28 years ago and he had been tattooing at least 7 years before that so he has most likely been at this for 35+ years as a conservative estimate, I’d guess it more likely 40 years. Me? I got my first tattoo when I was 17 in 1972 at Ricky Tattoo in Alameda CA, then Tiger Jimmys in San Diego CA, Honolulu, Pinky’s in Hong Kong, Long Beach Tattoo Parlor on the Pike in Long Beach CA & then I found this character Scott Schafer in Tacoma. I made 4 cruises in the Navy and have seen tattoos from San Diego to Australia and all points in between (most of them). I have seen many styles in many countries and for me, Scott Schafer is the best artist & tattooist. And while there are other tattooists that are primo… for me- to my eye, his art and abilities are what make his work the sweetest that I ever encountered, period. And that’s not taking away from anyone else. I have been wanting to post on Flaming Dragon’s website for years just never got around to it, but after reading some reviews online about other shops I wondered to myself “What is their reference point?”.

Double-check Brads art. He made an error tracing the ref I gave him, and when I went to get it he never just showed me the art and asked what I thought. I couldve caught it if hed just taken a moment. Instead I got a tattoo of a bird put on my back with 1 wing 75% the length of the other, like how the hell would a bird with different-length wings ever be right? How could you get all the way through putting that image on someones back without ever wondering if youd make a mistake? Double-check the guy... or go somewhere else!

I am so happy with the tattoo I got from brad! Its insanely beautiful, the detail is fabulous, its just beyond words actually, and it isnt even finished yet! Also, while I was getting my tattoo one of the other artist (I think her name is Sarah) was doing a tattoo on someone else and it was also spectacular! I was almost bummed out I dont have her do mine, and then I saw how mine turned out and am so incredibly happy with it, because it is also fantastic! I dont think Ill ever go elsewhere for ink, because every single one of the artist at flaming dragon do amazing work and are so worth the price! I cant wait to get mine finished and do more pieces from these artist!! Not only that but the place was very clean, the energy and atmosphere was very comfortable, its just all around an amazing business and I highly recommend going there and getting your own unique piece of art done by the insanely talented artist!!!

Awesome story, walk in, told the “artist” what small finger tattoo I wanted (literally initials)He then told me that’s impossible, I then showed him 1,000’s of google images of the same tattoo I wanted. Now enraged, he angrily says its still impossible even while staring directly at hundreds of pics.I said calm down man it’s okay if you aren’t a good artist and this tattoo is out of your skill range.He was bright red and angry, told us “yah if you want a bad tattoo . My partner and I laughed ourselves out the front door, onto the next tattoo shop we found and when I told the artist there what just happened to us he said “ yah that sounds like what a bad tattoo artist would say 😂🤣In conclusion, from their own artists mouth, do not come here unless you want a bad tattoo 😘

Scott does great work. At first when I met him, I got the vibe that he was kind of irritated by me and my personality. After a few sessions though, we got a long great. While Scott is an amazing artist, he also has great stories and an excellent taste in music. With high quality work will come multiple follow up sessions, so be prepared for the time and money involved. However, the work is truly exceptional and worth every penny. Highly recommended.I only have experience with Scott, but I have friends who have nothing but great things to say about the other artists as well.

Brad did my tattoo of my sons name and I LOVE it he did an awesome job. They are very clean and do follow all the covid 19 laws and regulations. I will be coming back here again to get another tattoo.

I havent gotten my tattoo yet. I just wanted to let everyone know how important I felt just scheduling this session. My wife has recently passed away. I have a very important tattoo I want. Her handwriting from a letter to me, made into a tattoo. Im VERY ADHD😉🤣 and not too easy to deal with. My wife was very special to me because she could. Anyway, Brad was able to figure out what I wanted and slowed me down to let me know what he had in mind. I cant thank the guy enough! I hope Im not too hard to deal with on Wednesday. Thanks for dealing with me Brad. You made me feel that this tattoo is as important to you as it is to me. Looking so forward to seeing the artwork!

Every tattooer in this shop is very proffessional. Ive been tattooed by three of them, and theyve all been open and easy to work with. The shop itself is very clean. Their tattoos are the highest quality in Tacoma. Between the five of them, they have more years experience than your great grandmas been alive. Any serious tattoo collector, youre messing up if you havent been tattooed here.

I have been getting work done here for years. Everyone is incredibly nice, the shop is well maintained and cleaned, and the art is exceptional. I send everyone I know looking for a place here and have never had anyone complain. Best shop in Tacoma.

If i could, I would give this place a zero star rating. owner of this business, Scott, stole $400.00 from me due to my job getting in the way of my appointment. Not only that, but will string you along for 6 months, in an effort to pull more money out of your pocket.

The older guy that works there is extremely condescending and rude. He made a very loud and rude remark to my husband, in front of other customers, about a tattoo my husband wanted. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional.

I was in with my design and out within 30 minutes for 4 small words on the inside of my arm. Neat and clean I love that the artists do exactly what it is that the customer wants.
