Went in for a cartilage piercing. It was my first ever piercing and Gene did such an incredible job talking me through what was happening and making sure that I wasnt woozy or dizzy after the piercing.The jewelry they had available was beautiful too, definitely going back for more in the future.

I have never trusted anyone around my eyebrows before but Cam is just such an amazing artist that I knew I was in good hands. I am so happy with my brows and it’s only been 24 hours. She really takes her time to perfect her design to make sure the client is happy. I can’t wait to see how beautifully my brows will heal. 4th time I’ve gotten pierced here! Gene is professional, inviting, and helped put me at ease. He explained the procedure and aftercare in detail, alleviating any concerns I may have had. The support staff was also very welcoming! Highly recommend!

Cold River helped save an embedded forward helix piercing that was done by another studio. Now it’s thriving!The space is beautifully curated and clean. They have a nice jewelry selection and it’s clear everyone from the piercer to front of house is an expert in their area. Looking forward to coming back.

I got my tongue pierced here a few days ago as I am scared of needles it was important to me that have my friends with me and and have a friendly piercer. Gene was funny and nice which made the experience a lot less scary. I also noticed how important it was to him that everything was sterile he took his time sterilizing everything and wiped down the Bench before and after. His aftercare instructions were clear and detailed. My friend had the other piercer there I don’t remember his name but was equally as sterile, friendly, and qualified overall I had a great experience!

After reading wonderful reviews about Gene, I felt brave to go ahead and pierce my septum something Ive been wanting to do but putting off for years, and to repierce my left nostril. When I arrived, I learned Gene was away and I met the person filling in, Lauren, and I immediately felt ready to just do it when she told me that septum piercings usually dont feel that bad, and she was wearing a septum piercing that complimented her face very well. I learned my septum is a little deviated, and she took her time to make sure I liked how it looked. And, in my experience, shes right about the pain. Besides the clamp holding my nose, I didnt feel the needle at all. Now that nostril piercing: that had a quick burn, but Lauren was fast with it. I ended up returning a few days later because I had questions about my piercing and how the prices are broken down, and I at last was able to meet Gene. He is a pleasure to chat with and you can see he is very passionate about what he does and he took his time to answer all my questions. Great atmosphere and they have an entire room with a case with a good jewelry selection. Oh, and almost two weeks in, besides a mild healing itch, my new piercings are doing well.

I moved from Austin to upstate NY years ago, and wasn’t able to find a piercer until I went to Cold River (I found Gene on the APP website and drove the 2 hours to him!). Gene is an absolute master at his craft. I honestly could not believe the wealth of information he shared with me about the piercing I decided on. He was super easy to talk to, funny, and it was clear he wants all his clients to feel comfortable and safe. I’ve never felt more prepared to get pierced than I did with Gene! And the piercing healed incredibly well! I will never go to another piercer, so long as I’m in NY! Thanks so much CRBA!

Cam is amazing. Listened intently, was careful to meet my requests but also make suggestions. I trusted her and it paid off. My eyebrows are incredible and it saves me so much time everyday to not have to fill them in. I did a lot of research and even paid deposits at other places and lost that money. Youll feel comfortable the minute you walk in.

I went here to meet someone to buy a plant... I didnt realize it was a body arts studio. The whole building itself belongs in a history book. Not sure what year it was built buts its absolutely gorgeous inside. The staff is absolutely some of the most down to earth and friendly. I actually ended up having my tragus stud changed to a hoop. The peircer was so friendly and very knowledgeable! Honestly if I didnt live an hour and a half away Id be back again and again!

Took my 16 year old daughter here and she had a great experience! Gene did an excellent job explaining why it is important to not let her untrained friends Pierce her cartilage. She is one happy customer!

I got my second holes in my ears pierced by Kevin, and it was a wonderful experience! So professional, kind and a great attitude that really made me feel comfortable. Super clean place! Will most definitely be going back. Highly recommend!

I went here in October after removing my septum about a year ago and regretted it. I saw piercer Kevin who did the new septum for me (not sure why he’s not on the website?) Unfortunately, when my nose was re-done, he pierced the hole TWICE without informing me he would need to do it a second time. It was visibly too low and was causing a great amount of pain to the point where I couldn’t even touch it. Even the Kevin admitted it was low after I stepped down from the table, but said it would look better when swelling went down. You could see the hole from looking at my nose on either side (photos attached.) My nose has literally never looked worse. I tried contacting the company for a refund, and I was offered another appointment with Gene after healing. He tried his best to accommodate, even saying we could do my ear or something similar with the same jewelry. After this first experience I decided against going back to the shop as I was put off by how poorly the first piercing was done, so unfortunately I was out of a little over $100 to be in excessive pain. Based on this experience, WHY would I want to go back? To be in pain with a third septum hole through my nose? I appreciate him trying to fix the problem, but I do wish a refund was offered even just for the piercing cost based on my initial experience. I regret ever going here and it’s unfortunate because I see all these great reviews and I cannot be one of them. Now I have a horseshoe piece of jewelry that’s unusable to me, and a piercing cost that wasn’t refunded even though that should have been automatic after he messed it up. Photo attached was taken 3 days after the piercing - I had to have it removed around 5 days after it was done.Update - It is now May of 2024 and I have severe scarring on my nose that occasionally flares up from where Kevin pierced me too low. I will never come back to this place - they literally permanently damaged my nose lol. Not funny but at this point I have to laugh at the owner response to this review.

My experience at Cold River Body Arts with Kevin for my piercings was so refreshing! I have fibromyalgia so everything hurts always . Kevin has pierced both my ears and curated an awesome look for my lifestyle as well as my double nostril piercings . I recommend booking with him for all your piercing needs!

I went and got my cartilage pierced and the whole experience was great. The inside is very clean and nice. I got pierced by Gene and he was great throughout the whole piercing and answering any questions I had. Will definitely come again!

I just had an appointment with Cam for permanent make up on my brows; she’s amazing! Cam is very trust worthy and knowledgeable and I definitely recommend her!

If I could give this studio 100 stars ⭐️ I would!! It was an amazing experience. I got a Helix piercing with Gene and I couldn’t be happier. The studio is kept pristine and proper sterilization is obviously a priority for them. Gene is extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions patiently. I will definitely be going back!!

I had my third ear lobe piercing done by Gene this past Saturday and it was by far the best piercing experience Ive had ( and Ive had quite a few). Gene was informative, talkative, and very welcoming.The shop was clean, quiet, smelled nice and was very professional.A lot of shops give off a hard core unwelcoming vibe but not Cold River! 10/10 would recommend to anyone. I regret ever going elsewhere!

I just had the most incredible piercing experience here! I was pierced by Charlie, and they were just amazing. Personality wise, and skill wise. For an industrial, they had to examine my anatomy and make sure the fit was just right. They ended up coming up with an amazing design that completely transformed my look. They really took their time and paid attention to detail to ensure everything was perfect. I’ve never seen an industrial done this way, and the non traditional look looks SO good. I’m so so happy to have been pierced by them, and hope I can keep going back to them from now on. :)

Kevin did a great job with my nose piercing!! He answered all my questions and I felt very reassured by the sterilization practices. it was super affordable too. Im so glad my colleague recommended it, would 100% recommend!

My fiancée and I got pierced by JR— I got my smiley done and she got her belly button. It was a pretty calm and mellow environment and JR approached us as soon as we walked in and was super nice. He talked to us about both our piercings and made us both pretty comfortable. I’m not a fan of needles at all but my piercing took .2 seconds and I didn’t even feel it. My fiancée felt hers (obviously) but she was super happy about it when it was done. We would definitely go back again.

I took my 8yo here for her first ear piercings and am very happy with the experience -- everything from answering my questions before booking, ease of booking the appointment online, how they treated my daughter and answered all of her questions, and the fact that the appointment includes a follow up 6 weeks later to ensure everything is healing properly. Yes, its more expensive than getting your ears pierced at the mall, but Id happily invest a few more dollar to ensure a professional was doing the piercing with clean tools and in a sterile environment. Thank you!

I cant stress enough how awesome this place is. The employee that I dealt with was extremely professional and definitely on the top of his game. He knew exactly what he was doing and now I refuse to even consider going anywhere else for piercings. Im also considering looking into the permanent cosmetic services that they also offer. The environment is sanitary and clean. The jewelry is so beautiful and gorgeous and youre able to order pieces, Ive never seen such a wide range of piercing jewelry. And its not cheaply made jewelry they actually have tasteful ,real jewelry will definitely be there for my next one😉.

I had a great experience when I initially got my nose pierced here in 2021.Recently, I’ve had issues with it (you couldn’t see it, but it was still in my nose!).Feeling slightly panicked after trying to fix it (without success), I called today and was told to stop by. Kevin immediately figured out the issue and was able to quickly get it out (with only one inappropriate word from me 😂). He gave me his recommendations and options moving forward, and was a pleasure to work with.If/when I’m ready to get it re-pierced, I know where I’m going!

Our son got his ears pierced for the first time. They are extremely professional and require certain paper work to get a minors ears pierced, but beyond that effort, they are amazing and help if needed. Highly recommend. The location alone is beautiful.

Can’t say enough great things about my experience with Roni at Cold River Body Arts. I booked an appointment with him to get my second (much larger and detailed) tattoo (he is a visiting artist). I gave him the elements I wanted and he sat with me before the date to go over everything in detail.Very friendly and passionate about his craft. He very clearly wanted to make sure I was involved in the whole process. After we agreed on the general design, he threw in his own creative expression throughout the piece. Came out amazing. Loved his attention to detail. Took 12 hours and he was focused the whole time. Would definitely recommend.The place itself was easy to book with. Derek was very informative and easy to talk with. Answered all my questions. Place was clean and had a great aesthetic. Very chill, felt very comfortable. Can’t wait for my next piece!

Everything was clean and sterile. The vibes are great! The staff is friendly and knows what they’re doing. I didn’t give 5 stars just because my piercing came out a bit lopsided and felt a bit rushed so I couldn’t point it out, so just double check when you go to your appointment! I would come back here in the future :)

First time here just a few months ago, we came to the area for my boyfriend to get his septum done (I am sorry I dont remember by who). The person who did it was very good, quick and talked him through each step so that he was informed which was great! The place is very clean and they maintain proper sterilization from start to finish. I will definately be back for my own piercings and maybe a tattoo next time Nicole (nixie pixie) is guesting!

Gene is a great experienced piercer. I got my double nostril piercings here 6 months ago and they have healed beautifully. They recommend follow-up appointments six weeks after the initial piercing to check if it is healing properly, which I really appreciate as someone without any other piercings; Gene made me feel comfortable and was knowledgeable at both appointments. The facility is clean and they have plenty of affordable and high-end jewellery options. Im glad we have a reputable piercing studio in my area.

I always had issues with piercings healing well when I was young, but after 20 years of wanting to get my nose pierced anyway, I finally decided to go for it. I chose Cold River Body Arts based on a trusted recommendation from a friend. This piercing studio has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The actual studio space is gorgeous, spotless, has a great selection of unique jewelry, and everyone you interact with is really welcoming, which made me feel comfortable in a situation where I felt like I didn’t know exactly what I wanted or needed. My piercer Gene gave me his honest feedback about any question I had, and if something wasnt going to work for me, he told me. Six months after getting pierced, I have a well healed piercing and the nostril hoop I always wanted. Ive never had a piercing that felt this healthy and natural for my body, and I owe it all to Gene and the personal attention I received from all of the staff throughout the process. If you want more than just a piercing, but a genuine connection, long-term care, and trust in your piercer, this is the place to go.

I got all three of my nose piercings done here by the owner. My two nostrils were done December 2021 and my septum I got in March 2022. I paid over $250 for the three. Septum itself was over $130. I was 17 and just told myself it was a better studio. I had trouble getting my nose studs out after a few months and finally in November of last year I decided to have another piercer take a look. He tried to get them out for +10 minutes before asking me to lift my head up so he could take a look. He then proceeded to ask where I had them done. Then told me they’d put lip studs in my nose. Which was why I wasn’t able to remove them. I had to have them cut out of my nose. I would have made the review sooner but the same thing just happened to a friend of mine. She had her nostril done almost a year ago now. And she was also told they’d put a lip ring in her nostril. Overall good customer service and great piercers. But they do happen to put lip studs in ur nose. Good if you don’t want them changed. But for the price you pay maybe go somewhere else.

The days of getting pierced by a shady dude in the back of a novelty shop, like I did when I was 18 for my first piercing in Greenwich Village, are over! Cold River Body Arts is so professional and clean! The jewelery is gorgeous. The experience is phenomenal. Gene was so chill and even gave me tattoo advice I didnt even know I needed! I definitely recommend this place. I will go back for sure. 🙏 3 weeks out and my nose piercing feels great and strong. The jewelery didnt pop out or get loose (like it has with my other jewelery). Gene pierced my left nostril.

I highly recommend Cold River for piercings. It was easy to set up an appointment and Gene was amazing. He made my daughter feel very comfortable and explained the whole process including aftercare. They even do a check after to make sure the piercing looks ok. Everything is very clean, sterile, and organized and they have a great selection of earrings that are high quality. I wish I had thought to come to a tattoo/piercing shop for a standard ear piercing before rather than the horrible places at the mall!

Love everything about this place! Beautiful brownstone, so clean and sterile. Gene is a real cool guy and very professional about his work. Had my nose pierced twice. Gene walks you through it and encourages breathing exercises. It really helps!

I got back dermals here (back piercing). And I was very pleased with my experience. Gene is sanitary, professional & made me feel very comfortable. He also does a 6 week follow up appointment to see how you’re healing (not a lot of places do that) so that really stood out to me. Tattoo shops tend to be intimidating, if you’re looking for a tranquil, nice place to be pierced Cold River Body Art is the place to go to.

Gene follows the highest standards, you will receive only high quality internally threaded or threadless body jewelry here, and of course everything is properly sterilized in-house, plus they can order custom pieces to make your sparkliest dreams come true! I was here previously for a septum piercing. After it healed I planned on going back to get new jewelry and do some more piercings. I really enjoy spending time at Cold River and working with Gene.Gene really helped me when it came down to the design of my ear(s). I wanted to a rose gold, black theme color with my design and Gene took off with it. I really appreciated his idea and I like how it came out overall. Ill be back in for a healing check up soon and then continue finalizing the style Gene created!Thanks again Gene - you are the only establishment and owner/piercer I trust doing all of this. And thanks again for helping my friend with her septum piercing after her bad experience at a prior shop.

Gene was so good to me and my mom. I got a Helix and a Rook while my mom got a Tragus. He was funny and well experienced, I definitely plan on going back next year for future piercings😎😎

I got my septum pierced here back in early October. There was a quick chat and then the piercing professional pierced my nose. it was incredibly painful, nothing I wasn’t prepared for, but the POP I heard as the needle when through was alarming. When I got up to look at my nose ring, it was crooked. Which I expressed to the person who pierced my nose and he looked at me and said “no it’s not you just have a deviated septum”.Fast forward 6 weeks for a piercing follow-up. Not only was the follow up unprofessional as the piercer flashed his PHONE LIGHT up my nose while i stood in the waiting room, he then told me i had developed a keloid and to soak a chamomile tea bag in water and STICK IT UP MY NOSE TO GET RID OF THE KELOID.Fast forward to January - I went and got my nose looked at by another piercing professional because nothing was working and although it was early in the healing process my septum was still hurting like it was the first week I had gotten it done.It turns out the original piercer had not only pierced my septum off center but went through the CARTILAGE OF MY NOSE - ON BOTH SIDES. In other words - he did not hit the sweet spot in which a septum ring is supposed to go. I will never go back there nor would I recommend going there to a friend. Getting a face piercing shouldn’t be a quick 1-2 and your piercer should be able to tell you how and why they are doing what they are doing. It was an unpleasant experience and now I’ve had to remove the ring to allow for proper healing.

I got nano brows at an attempt to enhance my brows and had a great experience. Cameron is a very skilled and patient person that is also very detailed on her work. I think that anyone that goes to her will enjoy the experience as much as I did.

Kevin pierced my daughters ears today. He was so patient and kind. He explained the whole process to them. 100% recommend if you have a little one that wants their ears pierced!

My friend and I came in here for some *relatively* spontaneous cartilage piercings, and the experience was amazing from start to end. We were met by Gene, who would be our piercer and he showed us the different options we had for the piercings we desired. He was kind and patient in discussing how the piercing itself would go as well as aftercare.The piercing itself could not have been better. As two people in the healthcare field it was really awesome to see that the instruments and jewelry was autoclaved before going into our ears. He also showed us the autoclave strips to demonstrate that everything was sterile. The actual piercing was quick and, honestly, relatively painless. And it was largely due to his calm personality and skill as a piercer.I would recommend this place over and over. And I cannot wait to come back for my next piece!

I got pierced there and Gene even went the extra mile to correct problems with my older piercings from other piercers and help me make a game plan to get those piercings looking and feeling their best. My friend and I both got pierced there and we agreed that it was a great experience but would’ve been better if they had been more transparent about the cost before we were pierced. I’m used to only paying for jewelry and tip when I get pierced, but they charge for deposit, $30 service charge, and expensive albeit good quality jewelry. It was worth it for such a good experience, but that’s something to be aware of.

Got my philtrum pierced. Gene was very knowledgeable and the studio was CLEAAANNNN. Very visible signage for clean areas a dirty areas and was shown autoclave positive strip prior to piercing. Great explanation of aftercare with well priced aftercare supplies available in studio. Quality jewelry in wide range of price points. Follow up appointments are highly recommended and you get an email reminder. Will be my official piercing shop going forward and will recommend to anyone.

I had a great experience getting pierced at this shop, i’m usually nervous about going to different piercers but Gene was extremely knowledgeable and gave me an amazing piercing. The shop itself is very clean and beautiful, and you can tell that they really care about what they do.

I drove about 2 hours to have my combination brows touched up by Cameron. She did a phenomenal job as usual and my brows look great. The environment is always calming and is very clean. I love my brows!!!

I got my first tattoo ever with Shelley, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. Eric and Shelley both were so warm and hilarious during my session. It made me feel so much more at ease. The building is beautiful inside (and out), and the tattoo parlor is so inviting, clean, well-lit, and speaks to both artists styles perfectly. While youre getting inked, you can enjoy the artwork on the walls and ceiling or engage in great conversations with the artist. I think Ill only be able to get tattoos here (yes, I already have plans for more), because I dont know if anywhere else is going to top this first experience.

Last October, they put a big botanical tattoo of a hemlock tree on my forearm; Roni, the artist who applied it, was awesome, and I had a great time hanging out with him while he was putting it on me.Absolutely would recommend to anyone else considering a tattoo, especially one thats botanically accurate; Roni is awesome at it, and the Cold River folks are delightfully easy to work with.

Piercing itself was professional and virtually painless, I appreciated the sterile environment and the emphasis on cleanliness and it’s clear there has been blood born pathogen training, etc.however, the bars I received in my piercings were much too small. The plate began to embed itself into my skin and cause extensive damage, I’m concerned about the scarring this will cause. I am disappointed that I clearly expressed that I wanted larger bars to account for swelling, but still received jewelry that was the wrong size even after the swelling had subsided from the original piercing.I am frustrated that I had to go to another piercer and spend money, to fix a mistake that watching a 25 minute YouTube video can teach you not to make.

Everyone there was super friendly from intake to the actual tattoo time. The shop was gorgeous, super clean and so nice. They have a lot of jewelry on display in the showroom and the set up looks great so take a look!

Gene does fantastic work. The shop is always beautiful and pristine, whenever I stop by. I’ve gotten a tattoo from Eliezer and was very impressed by the healing process of the tattoo. I would recommend everyone to check them out soon!

I got a daith piercing by Gene today and he was wonderful. He took the time to discuss options I had for the piercing, and was very thorough with explaining the sanitization of all the equipment involved. The shop was super clean and a very friendly environment. I will definitely be coming here again in the future!

Ended up getting both tragus pierced. He did an amazing job, so professional so clean you will not be disappointed. This is the place to go so educated on everything they do I will definitely be coming back to get the other side of my nose pierced

I had a piercing done by Gene last year at the new location, he did a good job. However, I am giving 3 stars because the price of the piercing did not match the website. In addition, the other artist, I believe Cameron is her name, was unwelcoming and not friendly, especially when she walked into the room we were using complaining about not having enough of an item...It was unprofessional, not to mention that she completely ignored my existence. I will not be returning to this studio or referring people.

I’ll never go anywhere else for a piercing again. This place is very clean and professional and he talks you through everything he’s doing and why. I felt very comfortable and the aftercare instructions are direct and easy to follow

Shelley is the best. She and Eric are both super funny and friendly, the tattoo shop is extremely clean and in the cutest building. Not to mention that Shelley does incredible work. I love my tattoo from her and I am hoping to get more once they are able to open back up!

I had a tattoo appointment with Eli and after waiting 15 minutes past my appointment time, one of the piercers there approached me to say that he could not get in touch with him. The piercer (I apologize, did not get his name) suggested that I reach out to Eli and tell him about the situation. Long story short Eli eventually got in touch with me, but did not seem to take initial responsibility for not being present for my appointment- although he was apologetic. The whole situation could have been dealt with more professionally. In the end I felt uncomfortable rescheduling so instead I requested that my deposit be returned to me.

Got my ears pierced by a lovely lady that I sadly have forgotten the name of - BUT SHE WAS GREAT! Made the piercing as painless as possible, and an interesting person to speak with! Was a great way to get a walk in on a beautiful day!

Gene was absolutely amazing! My Mom and I went in to hopefully get my earlobes pierced since I hadnt worn earrings in years and he said the holes were still there just needed to be stretched so he did and put new BVLA jewerly in. He was funny as hell, super kind and talked me through aftercare and what to do since I live in NYC. Thanks Gene!

This was my second piercing and gene did an absolutely amazing job, he educated me in the aftercare needed specifically for my nose and the healing time it will take, everything was clean and sterile, he even showed up the testing paper to confirm that everything was clean, it was a very calming environmental where as other piercing places can sometimes tend to be loud, both him and the guy working with him has great senses of humor, I want to get my eyebrow done at some point and I will definitely be going back here again!

I pierced myself and cosmetically messed up and medically perfect. I called and they gave me an appointment within minutes.He gave me suggestions and even looked at the piercing to assess the situation.The appointment was Free.Really good interaction.

It is a very professional place, the people are very nice. They have appointments but you can also just walk in, they care about the aftercare and tell you how to do it multiple times while youre there and the people are very nice I recommend it
