We had a great experience at Rowan for our friends 8-year-old daughters ear piercing as well as her mother. The staff was incredibly friendly and made them feel completely at ease. The process was super quick, and the piercing didnt even phase either of them. Highly recommend Rowan to anyone considering getting their ears pierced.

I highly recommend coming in early since they welcome walk ins, it’s first come first serve even if you have an appointment. Overall the staff was amazing the only reason for 4 stars was the 35 minute wait.

From start to finish, everyone at the Boerum Hill location is outstanding! Being greeted by a friendly receptionist, as soon as you walk through the door, is always a plus. I had my tragus pierced with Maddy. Shes awesome! All details regarding my piercing were thoroughly and clearly explained, including aftercare. I left with a pamphlet detailing my aftercare and a reminder date for my follow up visit. I will definitely return for a second tragus piercing.

Gentle and family friendly, our nurse was amazing. She allowed us to say “Go”, which allowed my daughter to feel like she was part of the whole process. She really liked that a lot.

Cleanliness and very kind staff. My child got her piercing done here and they were very thorough on explaining the procedure. They were very open to any questions that I had. And made sure they were very clear on the plan of care after the piercing procedure was done. I forgot the gentlemans name who did the piercing for my child but he was great!

I took my toddler to get their ears pierced after booking an appointment here. We were greeted, told my child would be pierced in the chair and explained that all jewelry is hypoallergenic and that buying the $25 solution is important and that there aren’t really cheaper alternatives. I was told they would use numbing cream and that the process is quick. My child sat in the chair, numbing cream was applied. My child is very good with needles, blood being drawn etc so was happy to sit in the chair to get their ears pierced. Customers started walking in to the store and it quickly became busy. The nurse kept walking off to greet people and left my child in the chair waiting a number of times. This is not ideal for a 3 year old who knows they’re about to get their ears pierced. Upon returning the nurse used the gun to pierce the first ear but it jammed. This scared my little one but the nurse got it off and apologized. As she’s reached to get the back to apply it to my child’s ears, she dropped it. Fumbling around for about 5 minutes to find it, my little one begins getting fidgety. She opened a new pack, applied the back. The nurse walks away for the second time to greet customers entering the store. My 3 year old has already been sat in this chair for around 15 minutes, has 1 ear pierced, the gun has jammed and she can see everything, as she’s surrounded by mirrors. When the nurse returns she attempts to pierce the second ear but the gun jams again. This time it’s got really stuck, so the nurse panics and is really struggling to get this gun off my child’s ear. After being so patient, my child starts to get very scared and upset, crying as the device is hanging from her ear. The nurse can’t get it off. Once it’s off, the nurse tells me that the gun didn’t fully penetrate the ear and so the earring is only part way through the skin. I’m mortified. The nurse leaves, my child is crying, and her colleague comes to look. At which point, a nurse that my child has never met, forcibly pushes the earring through the remaining skin. She did not introduce herself to me or my child. Did not ask consent to manually push the earring through with her fingers. Did not name if this was normal or painless. My child screams as this happens. She’s hysterical. It hurt her a lot! The original nurse gets the back of the second earring. She drops it again. At this point, my child is upset, scared and in pain. The nurse apologies for dropping the back for the second time and I ask her to hand one to me. My child is distraught and won’t sit still by this stage. She’s been in the chair for around 30-45 by this point. I then ask to speak to a manager and am told there isn’t one on site. I begin to explain why I’m angry and upset. When I speak about the gun getting jammed twice, before I can finish my sentence, I’m told that it’s common. What’s frustrating about this response, is that if it’s so common, why wasn’t I informed on arrival like I was about the jewelry quality and the need for a special $25 solution. At no point was I informed of the gun jamming risk. I also wasn’t asked if it was okay for the nurse to pierce my child’s ear with just the earring and her fingers. The nurse apologized and said that we didn’t need to pay for the piercing service or solution, just the jewelry. I’ve thought about not leaving a review in detail, because they were willing to wave some of the fee but I realized that, as a parent doing due diligence and research, I would really want to know that this happened! A few things that, after speaking to others, has become clear - 1 the nurse cared more about the people entering the store vs the 3 year old in the chair. 2 - the use of the gun should be explained thoroughly alongside the detailed speech about the solution and aftercare. 3 - especially for an appointment, not a walk-in, 2 nurses should be available to pierce each ear in unison for children, which I can see in other reviews, is something this shop has done before. 4 - a room is used for certain piercings. A room should be used for children.

Um.. incredible. What a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff at the Boerum Hill location was super helpful, incredibly informed, and just overall a joy to be around. They sourced a piercing that was at a different location, pierced my ear in no time at all, and made me feel like I have known them for years. Ive never felt like a friend like that to people running a business. I will literally ONLY go to them for ear piercings. (Plus super decently priced!) And, I mean, could their marketing be any more targeted to someone with the last name Rowan.. I think not. Thank you for brightening my day!

On a whim, I decided to get a mid-Helix piercing a few weeks ago. Despite my pre-piercing anxieties, the whole team at Rowan calmed my nerves. Madeline was the best piercer (and nurse!) I could have asked for. She offered her expertise, explained the process thoroughly, and honestly - it was the least painful ear piercing Ive had. I love my little diamond helix! Cannot recommend going to this location enough. Clean, considerate, and safe piercings!

I got my cartilage pierced, something I’ve wanted forever; however, I never got it because I have a severe needle phobia. They made me feel so comfortable and my piercing turned out so cute. No regrets and no passing out!! One of a kind with service and the actually concept!! Thank you ☺️

Friend and I went in for piercings. I got two lobe and she got a helix and lobe. Both of my lobe piercings were done on such an angle that the backs of the new jewelry clash into my existing earrings and are healing really badly/are very uncomfortable as they constantly rub together. My friend had a helix done but the piercer (who wore glasses) didnt even consider where her glasses would sit after she put them back on - despite the fact that she came in wearing them and only removed them for the piercing. As a result the back of the piercing juts out directly where they sit on her ear.Overall disappointed with the process, considering these are professionals and the price. Felt rushed and badly done.

I had such a good experience at Rowan! They’re having a buy 2 and get free sale and selected styles. My bf and I got some nice hoops and studs. I definitely recommend going if your near by for new earrings and a new piercing.

Although it’s a lovely store, and the staff is very nice, my daughter and I are both unhappy with our helix piercings. They were put in at such an angle that it’s very difficult to change earrings, and it’s been difficult to find earrings that will work with the deep angle of the piercing.

We went ahead and pierced my one year, old, daughters ears, and it was the best experience ever. Tori was amazing and very informative. She walked us through every process and what we would expect. This place it’s a 10 out of 10

I was a walk-in on a quiet day and had a fantastic experience. Madeline, who is super friendly and welcoming, helped me choose locations for two new piercings, suggesting something I hadn’t thought of for one of my earlobes that looks really great. Madeline also helped me choose earrings that would fit the spaces well (some earrings would have been too large). Madeline did both piercings by needle, and made the experience very smooth - virtually pain-free. I will definitely be back. While this may be more expensive than other options, it seems worth it to have the helpful and professional advice offered and a high standard of care/follow up. thank you!!

Very nice, my granddaughter had her ears pierced this afternoon.She was a bit nervous, but it was done between two members of the staff, each doing one ear at the same time.My granddaughter didnt feel a thing and she left very happy.

Success! Took my daughter here to get her ear lobes pierced after a failed attempt at a piercing studio. While I think most adults wouldn’t have a problem with the professionals at a piercing/tattoo studio, Rowan is bright and not intimidating at all for the little ones. You don’t have to go to a separate room so there is less anxiety buildup throughout the whole process. I really liked the patience and attention to detail that the nurse provided. She made sure that the piercing location was at a good spot (in case my kid wanted more piercings in the future) and symmetrical with the other ear.

Unfortunately a bad experience, the nurse was nice with my daughter but wrongly pierced the back of the left earring to the ear bone instead of earlobe and she is in so much pain. I went back, they didn’t really seem to care much, they removed the earring and told me it will close soon, come back in a week to re do and probably we will charge you only for jewelry coz they can’t put back the one they removed !! I paid $120 and my daughter has one earring and lots of pain .. never going back in a week that’s for sure !

I read reviews for the other Rowan locations and chose this one, and Im so glad I did. Madeline and Rayshell provided great customer service! Even with a lot of people, they were patient, polite, and made me feel cared for. I had a challenging piercing due to having to work around uneven ones Claires had done years prior. I love that they took time to consult vs just hastily pierce whatever to get done. I was happy to tip and will recommend this location.

We came to the Boerum Hill Brooklyn studio this past Black Friday 11/24 to get my almost 7 year old daughters ears pierced. The male nurse Steven did his best to calm her nerves and he made sure I was happy with the black markings prior to the procedure. She got her right ear pierced first and cried from the pain, which is common amongst little ones. After the nurse pierced the 2nd left ear, I questioned why the piercing looked a little different than the right ear. It looked like the earring was sticking out. Instead of owning up to the mistake, he claimed that it was due to the positioning of the stud on that ear. When we came home, I realized that he completely missed the black marking that he drew on the left ear. Had the piercing been done accurately, the black marking would not be visible at all as it would be replaced by the pierced hole. These are small markings. The stud was pushed forward to create an illusion to cover the black marking and the black marking was also smudged to lessen the visibility of the dot. The left ear piercing is lower and off to the side of the ear. Ultimately, uneven ear piercings and what piercers call Crooked Entry. I have been upset for days wondering if I should help my daughter get a correction piercing, but that would mean waiting for the hole to completely close up first and then having her go through the same painful trauma again. As Rowan advertises that they help any age even infants get their ears pierced, the nurses here need more training. As a mother, I would not recommend anyone bringing their young children to get their ears pierced here. I should have seen the only 4 reviews at 3.3 stars on yelp as a screaming warning.

Hands down the best piercing experience Ive had with piercings. I have been pierced 4x by Rowan. Twice with a device in one helix, and 2 needle piercings on the other side. The Nurse was thorough, patient, and kind. I would absolutely recommend this Studio for all ages. Safety is top tier, and the Nurses are best of the best!

BIG SHOUTOUT TO RICHARD! My Aunt and I stopped into in to get our piercings sized down. We didn’t realize we needed an appointment. We looked around at the jewelry instead and, we ended up asking Richard to style us. HE WENT ABOVE & BEYOND. He was so kind, funny and patient with us. We got there about an hour before they close but he didn’t rush us at all. We ended up getting everything he suggested. Such a great experience! I was told earrings are nickel free and for sensitive ears. I took my daughter for a double hole ear piercing. She got an infection and a reaction to the needle/earring. Which is not nickel free and for sensitive ears. Not cool for prices to be so high and then this happens. Not cool

If I could give Rowan Boerum Hills 10/5 stars I would. I am TERRIFIED of needles but decided on a whim to get piercings with my best friend. I walked in practically shaking and was instantly comforted by the Rowan team. I wanted to get a piercing with a gun, but they were knowledgable and convinced me that a needle would make the my mid helix piercing process a lot better. When I would start to freak out again, they were right there helping me calm down and relax. I could not have asked for a better experience. Its been a little over a week and my earring is healing beautifully. I WILL be flying back to NYC the next time I have the itch to get another piercing!!!

We took our 5 month old for ear piercing. Their staff was really helpful and friendly. And Great earring selection.

I saw Stephen and he was so careful, took his time and did a beautiful job. All of my other piercing have been painful and caused infection. It’s been only 24 hours and my ears are in no pain. I won’t go anywhere else for piercings.

The place was clean and staff member didnt greet me when I walked in but was polite. Sucking on a lollipop while speaking with me was not professional though.
