Terry was really helpful and knowledgeable and gave me some insight on my tattoo choice (ring tattoo on wedding finger). They don’t last long but terry offered a free touch up since these tattoos are known to fade and go away faster than most.Paying was easy and their waiver process is easy. All in all pretty good experience.

Absolutely love this place. I’ve been going here for a bit over a year now and I absolutely love it. Staff is easy going and professional. Everyone is Super charismatic and all the artists I have seen have always made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. I’ve gotten tattooed by Adam and by tattoo by monotone. Both super great and just all around super service. Both the moth and the snake were done by monotone. Loved it here and will continue to come back!

We had a amazing time in new york so i decided to do a walk-in, cause i wanted a handwritten tattoo of my woman - Zach was the best man to do this very special tattoo (small with a big meaning) had a nice talk, beautiful consulting and i love this tattoo which is full of memories and which stand for everything that comes. Cinthia is one of the artist I recommend one going to. Her personality is thriving and it shows in her artwork too. She’s very gentle, kind and down to earth. She made my first experience a very welcoming, comfortable and a great time, I’ve had my fourth session with her recently and she never disappoints! I went to the piercing shop to get two lobe piercings and a cartilage piercing. Just had to show my ID then fill out a form and wait for the next available slot. The wait time wasnt very long since it was a rainy Friday afternoon.Danny answered my initial questions about earring selection, and Jennifer did my piercings. She was an absolute angel. She answered all my questions and was so quick and efficient with the piercing, it was all over so quickly. I was nervous about the cartilage especially but she definitely made it a lot less worse than I thought it would be, and gave me clear instructions on piercing care.Prices are also really really good. Like $10 for lobe and $20 for cartilage, with jewelry included? Thats a steal. I will definitely come back if I want to get another piercing in the future, and I would also recommend Jennifer to my friends!(Note: edited to correct typo)

Im writing to give my biggest shout out to piercing artist ANGEL!!!! Angel is an exceptional piercing artist with the best outfits taste! His patience and professionalism made my experience truly enjoyable. He did my nose piercing and two ear piercings with precision and care. When I was visiting NY, I was looking to get my ears pierced at a place close to the Brooklyn bridge, where I was staying, and I found Live By The Sword tattoo and piercing. It was very modern and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. I loved the black and white style. They were very gentle and it barely hurt at all. They kept checking on me throughout the piercing and were making sure I was comfortable and happy with the outcome. The cost wasnt too bad, maybe a little more expensive than other places, but it was definitely worth it. It was about 20 total (not including tax) to get both my ears pierced. When I come to NY again and Im in the mood for a piercing, I will definitely be coming back to Live By The Sword.

I’ve gotten 4 piercings (septum, nose, second lobes) now with the WONDERFUL, AMAZING, CVNTY XI. they made me feel so comfortable in quite literally every way possible. very articulate, telling me step by step whats happening, being so kind, i could go on forever! also they are so precise, take their time which i absolutely love, double, triple checking if they are even, perfect amount of perfectionism. all my piercings have healed beautifully, no bumps, no pains, really recommend the spray they sell at the shop, works like a charm. no notes get pierced by XI

Once upon a time I met Danny and found my piercing happily ever after. He pierced my helix the first time I saw him and was super thorough yet efficient. We discussed mapping and jewelry and he was intentional to make sure I was comfortable every step of the way. After the piercing, he gave me his instagram so I could reach out with any questions or concerns, and was helpful and responsive when I did. Some time later, I saw him again and got a triad stack done :) soo in love with it. I cannot recommend Danny enough!!! He’s not only sweet but incredibly skilled and knowledgeable of his craft. I can’t wait for my next piercing!

Got 5 new lobe piercings pierced by Becca about a month ago. They’re all healing exceptionally well and I highly recommend this place! They have a wide variety of jewelry, great customer service, walk-ins and booking appointments, follow safety measures, are very sanitary, and great pricing! Definitely will come back eventually to get maybe a rook, conch, or daith!Edit: It’s been 2 years since I got the 5 lobe piercings and I recently came back to get my rook done by Becca! The quality of service is still amazing and my rook has been healing exceptionally well in the past couple weeks. Highly recommend coming for any piercings and tats! :)

Friendly staff; everyone is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Great jewelry selection and pricing. Cleanliness and professionalism is most important though, and Live By The Sword is very professional and clean; they communicate what they are doing and all of the materials and needle disposal containers are visible so it is easy to see that they are using proper sanitary procedure.Loved my experience there! Got a tattoo about a week ago. Erik was my artist and did a fantastic job. He took his time while creating the stencil and made sure it was up to my standards and I had liked the design. It did not feel rushed. My tattoo took 6 hours and was my first. This information was given to Erik and ensured that I was comfortable the entire time and asked if I needed breaks throughout the session. Erik has been available to answer any questions I have afterwards. He was great with communication and I highly recommend getting a tattoo from him!!

I wanted to leave a review for Xi, who is such a lovely person and an amazing piercer. I’ve had multiple piercings done by Xi and each time they are so gentle when piercing, extremely knowledgeable and communicative, and just overall such a calming energy in the shop, which can get very busy at times (make an appointment for sure). Xi very clearly really cares about their clients and their craft and is honestly the reason why I keep coming back here. I cannot recommend anyone more. If you’re looking for someone who is down to do interesting projects, help with curation, be honest with you about your anatomy and what works because they genuinely care, she is definitely the person to go to!

Got two piercings here and the service was great! My piercer Isabel made me feel really comfortable with my service and was patient with me while i was dealing with the pain. She was open to questions at every point of the appointment and really was a great support.

I’m a very picky person and don’t like speaking up about what I want but Isa made me feel so comfortable and her piercing skills were fast, painless, and accurate. she was an amazing and fun vibe to talk to. And she even helped me put in a customer nose ring order that I’ve been looking ever to get. 12/10 experience I definitely recommend asking her Isa if you come here.

This studio was on my list to get some extras earlobe piercings after reading all the great reviews and checking the super affordable prices (10$ each!!!).One day I realized I was pretty close so I checked if they had an opening to get them done. And they had! The front desk were super nice and friendly and then I met my piercer Becca Quinn who was extra! Extremely clean, professional, explained me every step, took the time to talk to me to understand what I wanted even if it was four simple earlobes piercings. This make all the difference of the world to me. I strongly recommend her.Plus, I am Italian, so English is not my first language, but I felt so at ease at Live by The Sword and with Becca. I booked an appointment yesterday to get my nose pierced. I booked an appointment for any artist. I was very nervous, I wanted to change my mind. But Isabel came and helped me. She made me feel comfortable and she explained to me everything, from the beginning to end. She even helped me picked out my nose rings and helped me find a hoop ring for my old piercing. I got my nose pierced by Xi, and they were absolutely amazing!! They helped me get out a tunnel that has been stuck in my ear for months, and I was finally able to size up again. Super thankful for them, and my nose piercing healed literally flawlessly. No complaints at all just love, definitely coming back.

Last year I called to see if they offered a transverse lobe piercing since many shops do not. I was told they do and quoted $40. When I arrived at the shop, someone else at the shop was unsure of what the piercing looked like but he was willing to charge me $80 to complete it. Unfortunately I do not remember names but the person I spoke to on the phone was not the same person that I spoke to in the shop. I mentioned that I quoted a different price and started providing a runaround explanation so we ended up leaving.Another time, I bought jewelry from this location and the representative was very kind. She helped me choose one that fit my ear and she put it in for me. She highlighted that I had a slight bump on the piercing so I should be mindful of it.The jewelry I bought for about $40 if I remember correctly. It was beautiful but very low quality. The aforementioned bump grew so I went to a piercer in Queens to check it out. I showed him the jewelry I was pierced with and the jewelry I purchased from this location and he immediately pointed out that the jewelry from this location was low quality.When I told him where I bought the jewelry he mentioned that the quality of services and product cannot be compared to the place that I was initially pierced. I have many ear piercings and no matter where I put this jewelry, it begins to develop a bump within 48 hours.I do not recommend this location for anything beyond a lobe since it is typically less irritable.

Leaving a review for Evan. She made the entire tattoo process very really relaxing and had me even more excited than when I first walked in. Any questions/concerns I had were answered with enthusiasm and her suggestions made decision making way easier. She is fantastic and I’m very glad that she was the one working on my pieces. I am in love with my new tattoos that she’s done and will definitely come back for more!

They say a septum piercing takes a few months to heal so I waited exactly 6 months to the date to make this review. I got my septum pierced on 02/01/24 (my birthday) as a walk-in by DANNY. There was a bit of a wait, but being that I was a walk-in I expected it. Once acquainted with Danny at first I thought he was a LITTLE boorish because he got straight to the point of letting me know he would decide on the jewelry piece, size, placement, etc. I get he’s the expert, but the approach at that moment threw me off. BUT when I got in the seat, although he seemed serious, he was respectful, super gentle, took his time, made sure I was okay and did the piercing so smoothly that the moment of pain was quick. Once I saw the piercing in the mirror I was IN LOVE! He shared thorough aftercare instructions and to this day I followed them to the tee and have had no infections, no keloids, NO issues at all!Additional bonus, I was going to have to have an MRI done, which would require me removing the piercing. I reached out to Danny via IG being that it had only been about 2.5 months and it was healing so well and I was freaking out. He was a sweetheart with his advice and told me I could swing by the shop to deal with it if it had to be removed.I’ve been following Danny on IG since my piercing and I can see that he is serious about his piercing game. He stays on top of the latest information in the industry and is always taking action to learn more about his profession and how to be even better. I will definitely be going back soon to work on some ear piercings with him as well as a possible Medusa piercing in the future. Thank you for a great experience and badass piercing!

I first went to Live by the Sword in BK years ago to get my septum done and, most recently, I went to the SoHo location to get Angel Bites done by Venus. The locations are extremely clean and organized and the staff is professional, friendly and patient. Venus took her time to discuss with me the piercing process and aftercare and was also very thorough when deciding placement, consulting both me and a colleague in order to make sure I was happy with it. I knew the piercing itself was going to be painful but Venus did a great job at making me feel calm and helped guide my breathing during the piercing to make things easier. I was able to reach out to her afterwards with any questions or concerns and consistently received timely replies.

After a long debate, for a few years, I finally got my nose piercing done here and dont regret it! Kelly had assisted me, and the entire team is friendly, informative, and health-conscious. Would definitely recommend to all! 😃

And he was really patient and went with me through different possibilites in sizes and adjustments for my tattoo. I brought my own design and thought that I have to compromise about some details because it will go from sketch to tattoo. I have only been getting pierced by Xi since meeting them here! I remember being really anxious going into a piercing shop for the first time, but they are so kind and bright, and made sure I was comfortable. Xi is genuinely one of the most sweetest and coolest people Ive ever met. It is always great to see them. So far, she has pierced my snakebites (on my birthday! best birthday gift ever, especially with how theyve healed so perfectly) and tongue (no complications at all), and I just got two cartilage piercings yesterday (orbital project! maybe on both ears soon!). As someone who worries a lot about symmetry, I really do recommend Xi if you want things perfect. They are so incredibly gentle and knowledgable, I trust them so much. I feel she really cares a lot about the things she does and has fun while doing it. Im slowly fulfilling my childhood dreams hahaha, all thanks to Xi. Shes the best.

Got work done by Moises and was happy I had him. He was kind and patient, happily meeting my many requests for my small tattoo work. He was extremely accommodating regarding price and design, made an effort to have a nice discussion during the session (which I always appreciate during the ink), and was extremely approachable. Would highly recommend him if you’re stopping by and want something quick, done by somebody who’s friendly. I did not feel rushed at all, he made small customizations, and was very empathetic as the piece was memorial based in nature. Would strongly recommend him for novice tattoo getters :)I got a 1 inch line tattoo of a sail boat. Again Moises did a great job - it’s a thin line and small, he re-worked it to get it to size and design and repositioned it a couple times for me. Really appreciated the kindness as it can be an intimidating process! Ended up paying $50 for the tattoo and again, super happy with the work.

I had an wonderful experience with Adam for my first tattoo! Came to Live by the Sword with my friend after a horrible experience at another tattoo shop, and it turned our day around! Adam was professional, communicative, and he did great work on my fine-line piece. I chose a piece from one of the flash books, and was very impressed by the variety of options the shop has to browse through. They update it frequently too! Would absolutely come again!

There’s a lot that goes into good customer service. Unfortunately sometimes it falls flat from certain individuals. I received my Classic Labret at the SoHo location from Xi in April, it healed, and I returned to her again for a ring a few weeks ago. Getting my ring put in I got a very unsure “I think this should be big enough” and wasn’t sure how tight it was suppose to feel so I said it felt fine. The following night I reached out to Xi for advice bc the ring was starting to hurt my lip and leave a dent. She asked me for a picture of the damage, and the picture I provided here is the picture I sent her before I never heard from her again. I kept the ring in overnight, it bled, and now that my stud is back it it’s very crooked. If I had heard back from her maybe I could have booked a follow-up or something to get new jewelry, but no. It’s very clear she’s passionate about her work but the skill to satisfy clients and responsibility to follow up on the unsatisfied clients seems to be lacking. At least in my experience

Love the location of this place but the customer service is even better. I got pierced with Diane and she is Ah-Mah-Zing! Great communication and worked with me on placing/making sure I chose the right piece. Her patience is gold status and I love how she broke whatever I needed to know down step by step. Clean work station and great conversation. If you’re getting more adventurous with your piercings, come here. My anxiety approves this place lol

I was a walk in, I wanted a second nose piercing. My piercer was Ganjhy Figueroa. He did a great job with the placement. He was very friendly and professional. It was quick and easy and no pain. I highly recommend him.

I would like to preface this by saying this was not a review that was made in the spur of the moment. I was pierced six months ago and I have been debating putting this review up since. My experience at the Brooklyn location was really poor and, since then, the piercings I received has caused nothing but headaches.I made an appointment in advance. I got there with my partner and he was seen immediately. His piercings took about ten minutes and his piercer was incredibly thorough.I waited an hour as they took walk in after walk in. I went up to the counter and was ignored (they were busy, but I had literally been in their line of sight for an hour and it was evident I needed to be seen) until someone came up to me. As I was speaking, a walk-in customer came in and the woman stopped talking to me and immediately began talking to the walk-in. Turns out, they forgot my appointment after I checked in. My piercer went for lunch and took multiple walk-ins. I thought maybe they had appointments, but no.So, they asked another piercer to do this one quickly. Mind you, this piercer already had another client that they asked to wait five minutes while they did mine. When I tell you this was the fastest piercing I have ever had, I am not kidding. The entire process was five minutes at most. Furthermore, the attitude I was given felt more like I was an inconvenience than a customer. Afterwards, I was given the aftercare speech of saline, no wet hair, and clean your pillowcase and was whisked to the IPad where they priced me ten extra dollars and I had to correct them.Since getting the piercings, one piercing has been infected three times and has given me nothing but pain. I did all the right things and followed the advice to a tee. I honestly feel like it has something to do with the fact that the piercing was done in 30 seconds. Furthermore, the piercings themselves are placed so awkwardly. An entire extra piercing could fit between my old piercing and the two new ones.My partner had absolutely no problems with his piercing even though we did the exact same routine to clean our piercings every morning and night.I have to let one of my piercings close six months later because it has become infected so many times and try to repierce it a year from now. You may say its my issue and that I let it get infected. However, my mother is literally a nurse and advised me every day on how to clean it. I also am a very neat person and cleaned it every day for the recommended three months.I wish I could leave a good review, but I cant in good conscience recommend this place to anyone.

I came here with my partner to get flash tattoos. I had a little issue afterwards, but Terry reached out to me and helped me to schedule a touch up with Adam. The lines are nice and thick. For the longest time I envisioned myself with a nose piercing, I even invested in quite a few nose cuffs. One day after dinner, May 2023. I made a bold decision to just go for it. I had done some prior research and had virtually fallen in love with LiveByTheSword. Walking in I was nervous until I was met with an infectious smile and a beaming light of a vibe. It was Ericka Vinfog! From the introduction and verbiage being used, all of my nerves went away. Ericka was not only welcoming but very knowledgeable, charismatic, patient, moved swiftly with care and most importantly took her time in explaining in detail about the process and after care for my nose piercing and ear lobe. This just wasn’t for me but also for my bf that accompanied me (who doesn’t like needles). After about a day or so the top of my nose ring had come off and she was easy for me to contact about the next moves. Fast forward to February of 2024 I just HAD TO RETURN TO ERICKA for my double nose piercing. It went quickly as expected and again I am beyond satisfied. I plan to continue to go to Ericka for my services.

I went to live by sword tattoo and Piercing in union square to get a spectum. I had Ericka Vinefog! She was amazing, she was very sweet, nice and caring! She taught me how to clean my spectum correctly, keep the balls tight and not loose, and when to change my piercing,! She made me comfortable and laughter and was very positive! I would highly recommended anyone who get a piercing definitely go to Ericka Vinefog she is the best and would make sure you have a good appointment and if you don’t like how the piercing is set, she would fix it until you love it! I would definitely go back there again for only her! SHE IS THE BOMB DOT COM!

Rating 1 stars for my original piercer, Venus. I came in for another lip piercing. The piercer that I found on instagram and liked their work (who later completely mended the following situation) was with another client. Venus asks me what I was looking for and tells me that they can do it for me. I was a little hesitant because knew that I saw Xi’s work and really liked it, but still trusted the piercer as the studio in its whole has a very good rapor. From the jump I knew something was off when the piercer started making comments about my placement adjustments such as “I mean it’s the same spot but yeah.” I honestly felt unease but still knew that I had the right to speak up about how I want my service done.During the piercing, it felt really rushed and I was told not to eat noodles and to use saline spray which felt like a pretty random aftercare talk (I have several piercings but still appreciate the effort to give me another conversation about general aftercare and such). I immediately knew something was off about the piercing, but tried to brush that feeling away and still tipped 20% on top of the $80 for the piercing lol. I was walking away but my gut told me to go back because again something felt very off. The back of the piercing was hitting my teeth (I’ve had 2 lip piercings and neither have hit my teeth so excessively) and the placement/angle just looked off.I immediately go back and have never felt so gaslit before 😭. Venus tells me how we agreed on the placement with the dot she marked (the piercing was completely off center with the dot and again the general ANGLE of the piercing was so off and fully IN my actual lip rather than under if that makes sense) and other passive comments. Another piercer was backing them up saying that’s how theirs looked when it was pierced and it was just swelling. It was already really hard for me to speak up about the situation and I just felt really gaslit I don’t know.It wasn’t until Xi comes up and ask me what was wrong and I explain to them the situation. They tell me to hold tight and they’ll take a look. Once they check me out they were honestly shocked at how WRONG the piercing was. They confirmed that what I was feeling wasn’t far off and that they see exactly what I was talking about. It felt really nice knowing that I wasn’t going crazy!! They then offered to repierce me and was very reassuring. All in all, they did a beautiful job, gave amazing care and precision, and made me feel really comfortable and good. I would only go back to this location for them and a select few other piercers, unfortunately not including Venus. Had to get pierced twice to get it right but very happy I trusted my gut and that Xi was there to fix the situation. 5/5 for them but 1/5 for the original piercer.

As far as spontaneous (or planned) tattoos go there is no better place! the pricing was amazing especially for the quality of the work! the flash options are amazing and as soon as i saw a keith harris piece of a little skater i knew it had to be done. Adam ended up giving me the tattoo and he was the one that chose the skater to be on the flash in the first place. Adam worked diligently, came with great conversation, and did amazing work. i’m so thrilled with my outcome and can’t recommend this place enough! especially Adam!

Xi is a gift to the piercing community. I never felt more comfortable and well taken care of while being pierced by them. Shes patient throughout the whole process and helped alleviate my fears. You can tell she really cares by how much time she spends with each client ensuring everything is perfect. I couldnt have asked for a better piercing experience for getting my mantis done.

My girlfriend and I stopped in for some quick flash tattoos and Sky went above and beyond, working with us on shading and size until we loved them. Great dude with a great vibe and provided a great experience. 10/10.

I highly recommend going to this shop. Especially my tattoo artist, Jessie. He is very talented, knows what he is doing, very fun and easy to talk to. I showed him the sketch of what I wanted, from my favorite poet, and he got exactly every detail. I love how my tattoo came out. I can’t wait to go back for my next one.

Devyn did my nipple and was so professional, so experienced, so friendly, so reassuring. Very fair prices and a very well-run shop. Don’t get pierced anywhere else in New York honestly. Can’t give this place a good or bad review cause we never got to the tattoo. I was the first customer in the shop for the day. After some back and forth, agreed on design with the artist (Sky) and during placement the guy had a meltdown! Even the kid working the counter was confused by this guy. Ended up getting out of the chair and the kid from the counter offered to find me another artist, and I agreed. In the meantime, there was more back and forth with Sky and I told him he was being ridiculous and he told me to leave. Ownership, I recommend checking on your guy Sky. He said he’s know the owner a long time. He may be a good artist, but this guy is not ok. Definitely some issues he needs to workout if you’re going to have him at the front the shop dealing with people from all over.That all being said, shop was nice. Clean. Good vibes. The appeal is there, just an unfortunate incident.

Went in for a navel piercing and had it done by the wonderful Steven, he was so professional and so friendly. Gave me all the info I needed to know to take care of my piercing. All of the people at this location seem so dope and the vibe was incredible overall. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience with Diane! Made an appointment to get two lobe piercings in each ear, chose Tuesday because of the buy-one-get-one 1/2 off deal. Diane worked with me to pick out the stud in my second hole and took her time to ensure even spacing and alignment on my ear. Very satisfied with the results! The piercing studio was also extremely clean and sanitary, and all of the staff were super friendly. Will definitely come back for any other piercing needs!

**Worst piercing experience of my life**I’ve had a great experience here before when I got my septum pierced. Went in today to get a barbell in my rook and expressed that I was nervous to which I was assured it was a routine piercing. After putting the needle through, my piercer Joanna *struggled* to get the jewelry in and it was incredibly painful and rough. She said that the jewelry wasn’t attached to the anchor. She continued to tug at my ear. She told me my ear was “tough” and that I chose a “hard piercing”. Then she started realizing that the jewelry we had agreed upon actually *didn’t fit* and she didn’t have any other barbells that were suitable for my ear after she left me in the chair to go look for other options. They only had very small or very large. She suggested a hoop and I questioned it because I know from past piercings that hoops are not best for healing. I thought about walking out with a hole in my ear but I was assured it would be fine. After finally getting the hoop in another staff member came back and seemed concerned about the situation and also concerned about the fact that I was pierced with a hoop but still offered absolutely no help and no compensation. She was unprofessional and gave me worried looks without anyone taking any accountability. The whole experience was very upsetting, painful, and long. In the end they charged me for titanium (instead of for the hoop which I did not want in the first place). This still only brought my total expense down by about 10$. I was very understanding with them through the whole experience. Super unprofessional, no staff member ever once apologized or admitted wrong doing. Sad to see from a place I trusted.

I feel bad to give one star because I want to support independent tattoo artists, but I had a pretty bad experience at this place.I was visiting NYC with my GF and we wanted to get small matching pieces as a souvenir. We found this place which welcomed walk-ins, and seemed reasonably priced with small flash starting at $50.This was not our first experience in a tattoo shop, we both have a fair few tattoos, some by relatively renowned artists. We knew this would not be an all-star experience but we just wanted something simple, easy and small.We discussed the design with the artist - it was a simple piece, smaller than a matchbox, in black ink. My GF and I got the same exact piece - each taking no longer than 20 minutes. We were in and out in 1 hour max including prep time.We did NOT receive a quote before getting tattooed, but going by the rest of their pricing I was expecting roughly $80 to $100 per tattoo given that there is a minimum spend, it was also a custom non-flash piece (albeit the same size as a lot of the cheaper flash in their book).During the session the artist seemed bothered, in a rush and irritable, she got annoyed when I asked her to reposition the stencil of my tattoo (this is standard practice), and even the wrapping was done badly with no care or consideration. She also failed to give any medical / healing advice (also standard practice).After the session she directed us to the register and left. When the front desk person presented the bill, I was completely shocked to see a $250 bill per tattoo ($500 TOTAL). We brought it up with some of the other staff and even they seemed surprised at the pricing. Ive paid the same price for much bigger and detailed pieces that have taken well over 2 hours to make let alone 20 minutes.After discussing it with the artist herself, we managed to get the price reduced to $150 per tattoo (as she quickly left in a mumbling huff), which still felt over priced.It honestly felt like a scam and she was trying to pull a fast one on us. As I said I fully support independent tattoo artists and we are fans of tattoo art, but this whole experience was completely unwarranted and unprofessional.Lets hope it heals well at least.Moral of the story, its always better to go to an established credible tattoo shop. Youll have a much more enjoyable experience.

I walk in for a nose piercing since I was near the block. They offered me one of their pieces which I did not accept, because there was none that caught my attention, the artist gave me a wrong pierced me with a wrong piercing which I could not remove to clean well the wound, I went to different piercers in different stores and they all told me the same thing: it is not the right piece for my nose, I ended up going to the doctor to have the piece removed. I dont recommend this place.

Ended up being way more expensive than listed even with the cheapest jewelry option and they messed up my piercing and had to go back twice more to get it all fixed and re pierced and got charged each time for new jewelry. So everything together ended up being way more expensive than if I just went to a better place.

Steven pierced my nose and the experience was amazing. Very pleasant, very knowledgeable & he has gentle hands. Minimal pain 10/10 can’t wait to go back and get the other side pierced

Love a performative business that doesnt actually care xoxo(also my snakebites are infected now lol thanks to this place)***Going to this shop was the worst piercing-related experience Ive had. PLEASE go to a piercer listed in the Association of Professional Piercers instead.I have been wanting to change the jewelry in my snakebites for some time, and I was nearby, so I decided there wouldnt be much harm to doing it here.From the start, it was alarming how the piercer was handling jewelry with their bare hands (even if the jewelry was going to autoclaved). They also seemed off-put when I asked the price for the jewelry, which should be a standard question since quality jewelry is expensive. I was prepared to pay a hefty price for two pieces of yellow gold jewelry, but the cheap deal the piercer gave me because they felt like being nice that day shouldve been a red flag.The piercer proceeds to painfully jam the new horseshoe barbells into my mouth, so that the jewelry is trying to poke through my lip where there is no exit hole. The piercer also had to clamp one barbell smaller while it was in my lip, but then they clamped my lip :(. They also dropped the clamp/forceps in my mouth :((. Overall, this part of the experience was more painful than when I got my snakebites pierced, or when I got them downsized twice (all at a better studio).The worst part is that the piercer did not tighten the jewelry properly, so the ball came off the barbell within 20 minutes. I returned and got it fixed (with a new ball that was handled with bare hands and NOT autoclaved or disinfected). Then it came off again while I was still outside in the area, and I had to go back for a third time. They didnt even give a new ball this time but used the same one that fell on the ground. Its been two days since then, and the jewelry has come off again.I was trying to be understanding about all of the above and I never said anything at the shop, but this was the last straw. Ill be needing to switch back to my original jewelry, and this entire experience has been a waste of time, money, and energy.I will not be naming the piercer as I understand that this may be their main form of income, but I hope that the piercers at this establishment can be better trained and do not work with piercings that they are not well equipped for. I wouldve preferred being turned away because they didnt have the appropriate staffing over paying money for this experience.

I got my first piercings, earlobes. The left ear ended up being great — I had it done on a super slow morning.I came back two days later in the afternoon to have my right ear pierced. It was packed, and I got the vibe that the staff were busy and rushed and more stressed. The piercing itself felt way more painful that time, and to my distress I found out a day later that the piercing was drooping — the hole was done at an angle!! I get that things can mess up sometimes, but it was distressing to have to find it out myself and for them to not tell me something was wrong at the time it was done… 🙁 The picture of my botched piercing is attached.I had to have my right piercing taken out, and wait 5 weeks for it to heal to have it done by a much more professional studio (The End is Near, in Park Slope). It sucked only having one earring and having to wait for my bad piercing to heal. It was like getting a bad haircut, just 5 times worse cause it’s in your skin!I would say if you’re considering getting your ears pierced, this place is hit or miss. I was lured by the fact that they take walk-ins, but now I see that might have been the main problem with this place. A super busy studio that’s also doing walk-ins is bound to be stressful place for the piercers.If you’re getting a piercing stick to appointment-only studios. It’s a much safer bet, especially because piercing are something that should be done with a lot of care and not be rushed.

Went to this shop for the first time with my friend about a month ago and from the moment we walked in I fell in love!! The vibe and atmosphere of the shop is unmatched and we had the best experience with our tattoo artist Joce!! She made the whole experience from helping pick a tattoo from the flash sheets to being so kind and helpful when helping pick placement for my tattoo. She made the line work look like a breeze and I can’t wait to come back to get a bigger piece from her! I couldn’t be happier with the outcome and will definitely be back to see my new favorite artist Joce!!

I went to Live By The Sword twice, both times very different experiences. The first time I went was for my first tattoo. Great experience. I got a gorgeous moth tattoo done by an artist that has since left the studio (not sure why but good for them). They took their time on my tattoo, making sure it was done perfectly. I get compliments on the tattoo all the time and it healed great. Had such a good experience, I decided to come back for my second tattoo, this time at the broadway location. I wanted a $250 flash design and scheduled a 1.5 hour session. I went with my friend who also had an appointment. She was seated immediately, however I was left waiting for my artist for 15 min past our scheduled time. No, he wasnt doing another tattoo. 15 min later, he slowly walked up the stairs with no care. I got sat down and he SPED through the tattoo. Spent (and I timed this) 15 min on it. Its not like he had anything else to do, I had him booked for an additional hour and 15 min, he was just sitting in his chair on his phone. Plus, a $250 tattoo shouldnt take that short of time, should have been cheaper if it was going to be rushed, it valued him at $1000 an hour. I thought it looked good, thanked him, paid, tipped (20%) and sat down to wait for my friend. Upon closer examination, the tattoo was obviously rushed, squiggly lines, random lines, and my lamb tattoo was given toes instead of the hooves in the original design. I normally dont speak up for myself but I had to. I asked him to fix it to which he seemed surprised Id even ask him to. I showed him what was wrong and he said it was stylistic and that certain lines would fade over time, news flash, 5 months later and they still havent. He spent an additional 40 min fixing my tattoo, during which I had to hold up my own phone to show him the original design. The lines had to be made super thick to cover up his mistakes, and eventually he stopped, saying he didnt want to overwork my skin. Thankfully the tattoo is somewhere where most people wont see it, but I regret ever coming again. My tattoo is still raised, just dont get why he couldnt have slowed down on a piece of art that would last forever on my body. Go to a smaller studio and research your artists.

This place was awesome, I was a walk in and I was accepted right away, last customer of the day and they made time. Joe took care of me, great guy. Super professional, great conversation and extremely talented. I got both lobes pierced for ten dollars a piece and it came with a small bar each dude. No pain, just a slight sting when the needle goes through. Nothing to be afraid of, these guys know there stuff. They also have a points program that adds up if you keep getting work done. Great place, clean, friendly, they even took care of my dog while I got pierced. High highly recommend this spot. Shoutout to Joe, Ill see you again here or at Bang Bang! Keep up the great work and thanks again!

Whoever owns this place needs to do a full refresh/ retrain/ rehire of the staff. Worst customer service, came in for a simple issue with a piercing, I was a return customer on top of it. They couldn’t have been less friendly, less helpful or less wanting to do business.

Like others they tried to give me a super weird very very low placement for my nose piercing. I’ve had over 20 piercings and have done the nose piercing a couple times before (took them out for aesthetic reasons over more than a decade) so I knew better than to be talked out of what I wanted (within reason of course—I’ve had this same piercing twice so I knew it was safe/worked for my face). I’m glad I stuck with my gut. Also an extremely impersonal experience. It wasn’t “bad” per se but probably wouldn’t recommend this place, it felt more like a piercing factory and I prefer piercers who make me feel comfortable and work to establish rapport with their clients. Only plus side is it was pretty affordable.

I had a really great experience there 3 weeks ago. My artist was Eric Rodriguez. He has a very light touch and is super professional. Really cool guy and he didn’t make it weird lol. He used second skin and gave me a patch to take home. My tattoo hasn’t peeled tho. Idk if he’s that great or it was the second skin but regardless I’m happy.

I got pierced by Xi a couple of days ago and I cannot express how amazing the experience was. They did such a great job of making me feel safe and talking me through every single step of the process. I was soooo nervous before and am so incredibly happy they were my piercer. I’ve never felt so safe, relaxed, and encouraged in any other piercing experience I’ve had and their patience and understanding meant the world to me. They made me feel soooo strong and capable and reassured me in so many ways. And on top of that my piercing looks AMAZING!! Im absolutely obsessed with it!! I’m so happy with my piercing and my experience overall. I’ll be going to them for years and years to come. Cannot recommend them enough!!!!

ISA WAS THE BEST! I immediately walked in and saw her and was like “Oook I dig her style I hope she is the one that pierces me” and sure enough; she strolled right over and was super friendly and helpful and said she would be my piercer - I almost gasped with glee - talk about manifestation! I got two simple earlopes done and love them so much; super quick and friendly service; highly recommend!!!

Prices are ridiculous never have I paid 97 for a piercing the person who pierced me was very kind but other than that its a rip off the nose ring they choose to use for u without additional fee is a ridiculous mini ball other than that its 45 and up should of went where I went the first time small stud included all one price complete rip off i was already there and just went through with it when i should of walked out but never again if u want to pay ridiculous prices this the place for u other wise go somewhere else

After an awesome experience with her last summer, I recently had her design a traditional black-and-white snake for my upper arm. She is always super responsive and helpful leading up to the appointment; she kept me updated with the progress of my design and shared the mock-up with me before I came in. She was equally accommodating during the tattoo, turning down the shop AC when I got chilly and checking in throughout to make sure I was doing fine. I always get a ton of compliments on her work, and most importantly, Im thrilled with it myself!

I got my smiley piercing and my ears pierced here. First of all the staff is so friendly and helpful. I only got appointments from Diane, she is the best! When I got my smiley piercing I kinda blacked out but she had everything under control. She helped me to recover and she made it sure that I was okay. After the session we got each other’s instagram accounts, if I have any questions or concerns I can ask her. The place is disinfected, after every appointment, they disinfect the piercing area and they use new tools for each customer. Prices are good, I got smiley for 80$ jewelry included and ears for 20$, jewelry included. All I can say it’s a pretty cool place, give it a try!

Went in on valentines day for my fiances septum and flat piercing and a small ear piercing for myself and STEVEN killed it. Absolute gentlemen. I had a great experience getting my flat pierced by Valentina Pellegrina. Valentina is skilled and made sure I was happy with my piercing. My daith was inflamed due to being pierced with the wrong jewelry at a different studio and Valentina also helped me change it out to better jewelry and educated me about piercings. I got my nose pierced by Danny and he did a remarkable job! I’m under 18 and brought my Mom. The process was simple but thorough to get permission.The establishment is very clean and gives off the right vibes of professionalism and fun. The cashier was very respectful and bubbly and her insight was much appreciated.The process of getting the piercing was clinical and efficient. First, my nose was cleaned with alcohol. Second, the placement of my piercing was marked before any work was done so that I was sure I was happy with the placement. And finally the actual piercing was done. It was quick and relatively painless, comparable to maybe a needle from the doctor.They have an excellent selection of jewelry so I was definitely happy with what I got. The pricing wasn’t too bad either. About $40 to get pierced and $75 for a good solid gold stud. I’m very satisfied with my experience at this establishment.

Great experience coming here in a big group for like 7 flash tattoos. All the artists were kind, the manager running the front desk was awesome and made the most nervous of us feel calm! They were able to accommodate custom requests pretty quickly for walk in!

Diane was my piercer. I had an appointment and despite alot of walk-ins, I was helped quickly and everyone at the counter is super friendly. Diane was great and helped me pick out an earring for my stacked lobe. Her explanation of the process from beginning to end was thorough and put me at ease. She also did 2nd lobe piercings for my sister and put her at ease and helped pick out pretty studs. I highly recommend!

So happy with the piercings I’ve gotten at this shop! My conch and helix healed sooo quickly. My second nose ring was done perfectly symmetrically even though my nose isn’t perfectly symmetrical. Came out amazing. Highly recommend. Also I have an anxiety disorder that can make me super twitchy and every piercer has been so accommodating and comforting. I always feel comfortable and calm by the time it’s time to stick the needle in haha, and I REALLY appreciate that y’all 💜

Got my three piercings done here and getting them went so good. The piercer I met here is Ericka, the first time I got my piercings I was a bit nervous because of the pain I might have but she moved so quickly, carefully and was talking to me the whole time asking me how I feel and making sure I don’t over think it too much which really helped. She’s the sweetest person and I booked her again for my septum and had another amazing appointment with her, she’s also very informative and great to ask any questions about the piercings, would definitely book with her again!!!! 100% recommend

Beyond horrible experience. I have never been treated so poorly. I went in for a jewelry change after 6 months of having my eyebrow piercing and had such a bad experience I am writing my first ever review. whoever did the change was so incredibly rough with my face and chose the completely wrong size jewelry which resulted in the piece beginning to imbed itself in my skin causing insane discomfort and infection. I had questioned her about the sizing but as someone who is new to facial piercings I thought I should trust the professional when she told me not to worry. When she got the old piercing out which hurt 1000x more than getting the piercing (she also pulled out so many eyebrow hairs) her nails were so long she could barely screw the new ball on which caused even more issues. When I went to a piercer across the street a few hours later they showed me how it was already imbedding in my skin — the infection was already obvious ( so much puss sorry so gross ) They took out the jewelry and told me it was half the size they would have suggested. They even offered to help for free because they felt so bad for the mistreatment i received here. I have friends who have had good experiences here so I’m not saying don’t go here but please talk to your piercers.

Came here on a whim with some friends over the summer after hearing great reveiws about this spot. I got a double helix piercing which I paid ~$350 for the jewelry + piercings. They healed well due to my consistent care but the issue was the quality of the jewelry purchased and limited availability/stock to have my piercing posts swapped.Jewelry: One of the studs I bought had an opal stone which popped out at random one day after months of cautiously cleaning the jewelry. I was disappointed since I paid $$$ for this stud and I couldnt even swap it since it was still healing and I had just spent money on it. My friends purchased gold jewelry for her piercings and it caused a severe allergic reaction that was painful and costly for her to heal. Their review will probably come at a later time.Piercing: I suffered major discomfort and now have (seemingly) permanent scarring as a result of having the original posts on both piercings past the healed stage of my piercings. The solution was simple, I needed shorter posts. However, the shop did not have them available whenever Id reach out or drop by when I was in the area. I went to other shops in hopes that they would be able to replace the posts and I wouldnt have to spend more money on jewelry. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to salvage the jewelry I bought from this shop and had to pay more to get them swapped.Overall shop service: The staff was nice, the shop was clean and the service was overall good at the time we got our piercings done. Perhaps it was timing that prevented me and my friends from having a good experience in the long haul. Disappointed in the quality of the expensive jewelry sold here though. I would be cautious in recommending this shop to my friends.

An amazing experience for both tattoos and piercings! Joce designed the tattoo exactly to my liking and did such a great application of it that it healed beautifully with zero issues. Diane was adamant about making sure my piercings were in the perfect position/angle and gave thorough aftercare advice. All other staff I encountered were polite, I highly recommend this business :)
