Cake Is a Lie Tattoo Parlor

Had my first-ever tattoo done here and it was such a fantastic experience. Shop is clean and staff are super friendly which really helped relieve any pre-tattoo anxieties I had. We talked through my design based on the references I sent with the application, made some minor tweaks, and got right to it. Crys was super patient and allowed plenty of breaks but worked efficiently and professionally. Crys, and all of the staff, really made me feel at ease during the whole session and I absolutely love the end result (3 months healed as shown). 100% recommend to anyone looking for a welcoming vibe and amazing artists for their next tattoo!

This piece’s stencil was hand drawn straight onto my skin by the talented Foks Lo. Foks is an understanding, funny and open artist that you can put your trust in. Someone who makes you feel comfortable, no matter if you want to just sit there and listen to music or if you’re in a talkive mood. Accepting and wholesome energy. Excited to be a walking billboard for Foks Lo’s art and tell everyone to book with them!Cake is a Lie is a beautifully decorated and safe queer & woman own tattoo studio. Would reccomend to anyone. Everyone was incredibly kind and made me feel very comfortable the entire time i was there.

Was recently tattooed by @saintshivs; they absolutely killed it! Shivs made me feel super comfortable throughout the entire process, from design to application; always making sure to check in to see if I needed anything. The space is also super clean and the entire staff is wonderful. 10/10 experience and will certainly be back!

One of the safest, cleanest tattoo spots I’ve been to. Great talent here. Booked with Shivs and they made me feel confident in placement and size, and super comfortable throughout the whole session. Super chill tattoo parlor. I got a 4 inch tattoo on my left leg from @dripontheinternet, and they were incredible. Really accurate, helped improve placement, and came up with an incredible custom design from a base concept I gave them. Also exceptionally speedy, I was out very quickly.

Got my first tattoo here with Drip who specializes in pixel art. Love the atmosphere and the vibe, all the artists here do incredible work! I came back 6 months later to get another tattoo with the shop owner Crys which is also amazing. Highly recommended!

My closest friend passed after an epic and prolonged battle with cancer. I wanted to honor her perseverance and strength in a way that would remind me of her daily and reflect her clear sense of style. This would be my first tattoo so the level of trust I needed was high. Crys was the perfect choice. She was kind and patient, totally understood the significance of the ask and worked with me to design a unique tattoo that delivered on all counts. I am so happy with it. I would not even consider going to anyone else!

Got my tattoo with Drip (who specializes in Pixel Art). Ended up doing a line tattoo instead, but my experience at the shop was awesome. Very chill vibes and everyone was so nice/chill. It felt like everyone was family here and the many returning customers that were coming in to have nice chats and touch-ups were awesome. I think that speaks volumes about the work here. If you are considering getting new ink, please check this place out!

I had two flashes done by Romy! She was the sweetest, it was so fun getting tattooed here. Everyone was super welcoming and the vibes were awesome, it’s nicely decorated especially if you’re into anime it’s a really nice place to check out. I live pretty far out from NY but I’m glad that I traveled down to get them here it was a great experience.

These people are all absolutely kind, welcoming, brilliant, and most importantly excellent at their jobs. everything from the moment you walk in is inviting and they do their absolute best to get you the product that you want. my artist worked with me on the final design. Sky is phenomenal and I cannot wait to see how their style continues to evolve. i love this shop with every ounce of my being and can absolutely not wait to go back for more ink. I’d give them 20 stars if I could, but I’ll settle for just 5 for now. If you are any kind of nerd or tattoo lover, you’ll feel completely at home here, I know I did!

Shivs (@saintshivs) tattooed a super sweet pair of cherries from a flash day event and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. They were very quick and light handed during our session and made sure to check in with me throughout the process. They were communicative and kind and we had a fun chat while working on the piece and the space was very clean and sanitary. Can’t wait to get more work from them. Highly recommended! 🌟🔥

Cake Is A Lie is a great tattoo parlor located in a very convenient area of Greenpoint! It was very clean and welcoming and Shivs took time to make sure that the design, placement and style of tattoo. Shivs did an amazing job and I am incredibly happy with the result!! I would absolutely go back and get a tattoo from Shivs and I have told friends to go to Shivs for their next tattoo.

I got tattooed by both Crys (@snayke.tattoo) and Rachelle (@dripontheinternet) and my experience with both was amazing. I got flash from Rachelle and a custom piece from Crys. Since the consultation with Crys before the appointment, I felt extremely comfortable and heard. She did an amazing job incorporating all of the elements I mentioned to her into the tattoo while also incorporating her art style which is amazing. I would recommend the studio to anyone wanting a tattoo!

I have gone to Cake is a Lie for multiple tattoos and I intend to go back for more. Im so grateful that everyone is so amazingly nice there because everyone is a good enough artist that I would go even if they were very mean. But instead they made the studio a warm, inviting space full of fun video game and anime aesthetics. Im considering putting on a few pounds just so I have more surface area to be tattooed!

This shop is a true neighborhood gem.I’ve been there twice now—shoutout to @caroxtattoos—and all of the artists are very kind (not to mention extremely talented) and the shop itself has a very cozy feel being decorated with a lot of fun knick knacks. If you like anime, video games and all that wonderful stuff, this is the shop for you.Also, it really feels like a safe, inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly space which is everything!

Had the pleasure of getting work done by my artist Skylar who was guesting at Cake Is A Lie. From the second I walked in till the second I walked out, I was just in complete awe of this establishment.The atmosphere is every nerds/weebs dream! The staff were playing Smash, but immediately put their game on pause when I walked in, making sure I was receiving the proper attention. The atmosphere was inviting, the shop was immaculate, and it gave a feeling of home.The staff was absolutely AMAZING. While getting my tattoo, one staff member wearing a Kirby hat and an awesome outfit for their flash theme checked in to see if I needed or wanted anything multiple times which was so appreciated. When other artists popped over, they asked permission before peeking in on my tattoo (even though it was just on my leg) but asking my consent just shows how much care each staff member puts into their interactions with clients and making them feel comfortable and safe. Whilst getting tattoo’d I got to watch two other artists do their Kirby flash and not only was the work itself awesome, but their sanitation and level of care was just outstanding. Each artist made conversation with their clients as though they were long time friends, and it was just such an amazing vibe.I had an awesome interaction with Caro as well after she finished up with a client, as we spoke about some of the anime we’re watching and how exciting it is to be able to do tattoo’s from those anime.While Skylar was just guesting, they are absolutely an amazing artist. I could go on about Skylar and their level of artistry and the amount of detail they put into every tattoo that they do (I have multiple from them), but I just want to express my gratitude and emphasize just how awesome being tattoo’d by Skylar is.I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone who may be getting a tattoo for the first time (or the hundredth) whether it be big or small pieces. The work speaks for itself but the level of artistry and care put into this shop speaks volumes.Hope to be back soon!

Crys is such a professional and really will create for you the best tattoo you can ask for! She’s super informative, undeniably talented and will do everything to make sure you’re both happy and comfortable in her studio - can’t recommend my experience enough !

I got my tattoo with Caro who was an excellent artist. She listened to what I wanted and collaborated with me to see my vision through. She was patient and took her time. Highly recommend! The place itself is very cute and everyone was friendly.

How can I describe Cake is a Lie;If you want to nerd out and have a great time with the artists, this is the place to be!Everyone creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and immediately felt like I was at home with your people and silly little hyper fixations!I’ve gotten tattooed by multiple artists here; ranging from Drip (Rachelle), Crys (Snayke), Caro, and Foks, and every single time, I have been always taken care of. They immediately prepare before you come in, and as we consult on the piece, every single artist has been super communicative with what works best, what can be fun, and guide you through every step. And they will never shame anyone for taking multiple breaks, no matter the design or size of tattoo!!And if anything above hasn’t tickled your fancy to check this place out, they have a wonderful front space where even if you are not getting tattooed you are allowed to hang out and play Nintendo Switch games or watch anything on the tv they have set up.I can’t recommend this place enough, I just always have a smile when coming here.Hope to add even more art on my silly little body!!

I had the pleasure of working with guest artist Vié, so I unfortunately cannot review any of the resident artists. However, this was an extremely comfortable and clean studio, with a cool aesthetic.The sample work that I saw up on the wall was really great! I would highly recommend checking them out if youre considering a tattoo and also consider yourself a nerd or geek, or if you love video games, animation, or traditional American or Asian tattoo art styles.While I was there, I did see one person have a very pleasant experience with a resident artist (didnt catch their name), and I also saw the rest of the staff being very helpful and courteous to walk-ins requesting a consultation for the following day. The walk-ins did not seem like the typical, more nerdy clientele. So they are definitely welcoming of all types. I think this would be a great, non-intimating place for a first-timer.

Got a tattoo done by Mauricio. He did an awesome job. My husband got a tattoo done by drip that was also super dope. 10/10 atmosphere. Everyone in the shop is super chill, kind, and cool. Will def be back.

Been doing this a LONG time. Saw the shop opening and decided to give them a shot at adding to the canvas.Tiff Lai can tattoo and I’d recommend her work to anyone looking for a clean, crisp, professionally applied tattoo.Impeccably clean shop, friendly staff. It’s not a street shop and it’s not a boutique shop. Just quality tattoos at reasonable prices, can’t ask for much more.

Cutest group of people in the cutest tattoo shop in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is very laid back and everyone is just super sweet. Makes me want even more tattoos. I have 2 pixel tats so far from Rachelle (@dripontheinternet) and I plan on getting more from them and some of the other artists :) thanks for being so lovely!

Came to the shop to get my tattoo with Paúl. Not only does the tattoo look amazing, the whole vibe there is great. Everyone is very chill and fun to be around. The time spent at the shop is simply a blast. I absolutely recommend checking out this place if you’re looking for some new tattoos!

Five stars is not enough. This place is a GEM I stumbled upon while waiting around for my hotel check in time. The whole shop has great vibes, very welcoming and friendly. I came in thinking maybe I’d get a small flower and then I started talking to Katie. Katie is the best tattoo artist I have ever worked with. Sweet, patient, accommodating, quick, talented, open-minded, and so easy to talk to. We talked life and she even gave me some advice I needed. She turned my idea into a beautiful and creative piece of art. She was so patient, I had her alter it over and over again and not once did she seem over it or disgruntled. She truly loves what she does and is AMAZING at it. She worked with me ALL day on a whim and I was happy with the price for it. I could not be more satisfied with my experience - If I lived in New York I would be a loyal customer to her! I mean…. Look at this!!!

Had an amazing experience all around. I worked with Crys on the tattoo itself, who is incredibly talented, but the staff as a whole were also great and made my time in the shop fun and relaxing. It is a bright, welcoming shop, from the people to the physical space. Not to mention the tattoo I got is beautifully done. Definitely hope to work with them again, it was absolutely worth the trip in from Philly!

For once there is a tattoo parlor that appeals to people outside the heavy metal and goth interests! My friends and I got tattoos with Sage who was wonderful and talented. The other tattoo artists were hanging around and the atmosphere was very calming and friendly. Would highly recommend this for anyone getting a tattoo, regardless of how much into videogames they are.

Excellent experience in every way. Cinthia who did my tattoo is talented respectful professional and cool as hell. Sage is also an artist there who is also talented respectful and cool! Went here for a tattoo a week ago, didnt plan on coming here but my sister and i thought we would check it out in passing. when we walked in i immediately noticed how clean it was as well as being pleasantly surprised to see spirited away playing on the t.v. we were greeted immediately but friendly faces & were helped by Katie who was extremely sweet and eager to create something we loved. Everything was extremely clean and the artists payed close attention to disinfecting their areas in between tattoos. i would highly recommend coming here, especially if you prefer fine lines!!

I had an amazing experience at Cake is a Lie. The space is very clean and the staff were extremely professional but welcoming at the same time. I worked with the owner, Crys, who did a fantastic job guiding me through the process and helping me figure out what I wanted my tattoo to look like and where it would look best. She was incredibly personable, friendly, and easy to work with, making the entire experience a pleasure. I feel I was able to really connect with her and the rest of the staff during my visit, as the shop specializes in anime and video game art/culture. The artists also had their work on display as well, showcasing all of their art styles and making it easy for me to pick someone that could bring my tattoo to life.

Cake is A Lie is AMAZING. The vibe is on point, super welcoming and the people are great. All the artists are good , but I personally recommend Paul! He’s great at achieving the vision you want and adding his artistic flair.

Ive had 3 delicate/small pieces and 1 larger custom piece done @ Cake Is a Lie by Crys. Fantastic work. Gentle tattoo process that healed beautifully. Highly recommend and will be returning. Shops style is ideal for those interested in gaming/fandoms/fine line. Pricing is fair, and quality is excellent.

My tattoo experience here was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had. I worked with Crys and created a beautiful tattoo AND finished it in 4 hours. Crys has an amazing talent and the shop has incredibly relaxing vibes. I drove 4 hours from DC to get this tattoo and I would do it again!

It was my first time at the shop and it was clean and bright. They have a TV with a Switch console to play while waiting (for yourself or if you bring a friend and they are bored).I saw Marusia and she is SO nice! She gave a goodie bag at the end and it was like a reward/party favor which was unique. Shes such a sweet soul. I would love to come back.

I was pretty nervous about getting my first tattoo, because I have a needle phobia, but Crys and everyone else took really good care of me. The design process went from vague idea to fantastic original concept drawings very quickly, and when I saw the final result I was blown away. This is an exceptional place run by wonderful people.
