My experience at Electric Tattoo was amazing from beginning to end. It is such a welcoming place, definitely the most welcoming tattoo shop I have been to. I had an idea of what I wanted but Jae was able to work with me on coming up with the design. I was super happy with the design and the process to get the tattoo completed.Jae was also very kind with the numbing spray and ensuring I was feeling well during the tattoo. The tattoo is great and one of my top favorites.I hope to be back and get more tattoos from Jae!

Electric lotus is by far the most phenomenal tattoo place I’ve ever been to. Jae the owner is a very nice and respectful guy who will ensure reasonable prices, incredible pieces of art, and any design you desire he can make it come true. Electric Lotus Tattoo has become one of my favorite places on the planet. I wandered in one day soon after my dad had died in 2016, looking to get my first tattoo as a way to honor him. Jae, the owner and artist, was kind, sympathetic, and creative. I now have more tattoos than I can count, all designed by Jae. His shop is gorgeously decorated-a calm, small space. Sessions are therapeutic, because Jae is interesting, well read, funny and empathetic. I cannot recommend Electric Lotus more highly. Do yourself a favor and go visit.

Electric Lotus is my favorite tattoo studio in New York City. Ive gotten work done at a number of solid studios around the city but since my first appointment at Electric Lotus, I havent ventured anywhere else. Jae and Anthony are both amazing artists and I have a killer time sitting with either of them.Jae, the owner of the studio, has tattooed me four times and I can easily say that out of my 16 tattoos Jaes work is my favorite. I am always impressed by his ability to translate abstract ideas into art and by his versatility at tattooing diverse styles and designs. My own tattoos are all in black and grey, which Jae has executed perfectly, but I have both watched him tattoo others and seen his healed designs, and can attest to the incredible quality of his work in color as well. He has an intuitive sense of color scheme and application, resulting in beautiful, timeless tattoos that make a statement and endure. Jae works fast and with precision. Each of my tattoos has healed well and remain looking fresh and crisp.As for the experience of visiting Electric Lotus, I absolutely love coming here. Walking in, Jae and co. are warm, welcoming, and attentive. Despite the high popularity of the shop, appointments start on time and once they do you have the artists full attention. Jae and Anthony are both great about making sure you are completely satisfied with their rendering of your design and the tattoo placement before getting to work on your body--unlike at other tattoo studios Ive visited where I felt rushed and as though something was lost in translation. Everyone at Electric Lotus is a consummate professional who truly cares about the integrity of their work and the joy of their clients. Also, the shop itself is beautiful. The walls are hung with all sorts of gorgeous artworks and Jae has a terrific floor-to-ceiling bookshelf full of art books and references. I went to Electric Lotus at the beginning of June 2023 to get a matching tattoo with my best friend. We called earlier that same day because the artist we were going to see cancelled last minute. Jae made time for us, and when we arrived we were treated to the best tattooing experience Ive ever had. Electric Lotus itself is clean, bright, and well-decorated, and Jae is exceedingly professional, knowledgeable, and just cool as hell. Had I only come to hang out in the shop, it would have been worth the trip, but he also gave my friend and me some incredible ink! For months I’ve been looking for a tattoo artist. That’s when I came across ELECTRIC LOTUS TATTOO. I consulted with the owner Jae. I wanted a lotus on my forearm. With a symbolic symbol that represented the relationship of my friend and I , who died by suicide. Jae created a beautiful piece for me. Jae’s work is amazing!!! After thinking about it for a few weeks, yesterday I decided that I wanted a simple cat semicolon tat on my wrist. I didnt want to wait. I found Electric Lotus online and read good reviews about them. I contacted the shop to see if I could come in right away. I received a reply from Joe in less than five minutes, called him and discussed what I wanted. He said to come right over. We talked over a few ideas and settled on one. Joe had a fast sketch in a minute, we agreed and he drew up the final work. I love what I got. Joe was very pleasant, friendly, and informative. When I woke up this morning and took the wrapping off , I was so happy. Everything went smoothly and I am super satisfied. I will definitely be visiting Electric Lotus again for my next tattoo. I traveled from the Upper West Side to Brooklyn just to be tattooed here because I loved his artwork and wanted to be tattooed by someone genuine and from what I saw that was going to be here—I was, without a doubt, right! Admittedly, I am a tattoo rookie, getting only my second here, but Jae was patient with me, he listened, and was an amazing person to talk to throughout the process. The shop has an amazing vibe and Jae has an aura that brings it all together. Where to begin. Jae is the best. Hes friendly, nice and professional. I spoke with Jae on the phone about what I wanted and set up an appointment. I told him I would like to incorporate an apple, MCA, and NYC. I said Im attending the Beastie event on Monday April 8. He said hes attending the same event. I said If I see you I wont bother you too much. He goes oh my gosh youre good, come over and say Hi. He then told me his son attends the same school that MCA went to. The day came to get my tattoo. We talked where I want to put it, shading and how big. He showed me the design and I was blown away. He then told me to go into the bathroom and look to the left. Im like uhhhh okay. I go in and see a picture of the beastie boys from when they were in LA. I said OMG?!?! where did you get that?!?! Next came to get the tattoo. I was in awe with how it came out. I have nothing but positive things to say about him and his shop. Very clean and welcoming. We talked Beastie Boys, his family and how long hes been tattooing. I did see him at the show. I went over to say hi but didnt want to bother him too much because he was there with his son. I told him everyone loves the tattoo and how it came out. Thanked him again and said next time I come to town Im getting a tattoo at his shop. I recommend this shop to everyone. You wont be disappointed.

I was visiting New York for 5 days and decided on a whim to get tattooed while in Brooklyn. The design was very simple, it was two words “sans soleil” that I wanted to have tattooed onto one of my fingers. The shop minimum was $200 and even though that is quite high for something so small I figured I am on vacation so why not. The work was done within 15 minutes and although the gentleman tattooing me was very friendly I was worried from the start how this would turn out. During the tattoo I could feel his hand shaking which I attributed to possibly the machine and the small canvas he was tattooing but at the end of the tattoo I had shown him that some of the lines did not look deep enough than the rest and since it was on my finger there is always a risk of losing some of the ink so I really wanted to be sure the ink was deep enough. He assured me that it will be fine and that the lines were deep enough. I should have probably been more pushy about it but I paid him via credit card (328$ CAD) and left with it wrapped. Now that I am home in Montreal and it has almost finished healing, all of the lines I said didn’t look deep enough have all faded and fallen out… I have many tattoos across my body as well as on other fingers so I know how to take care of a fresh tattoo and have it heal correctly so this is not a user error by me. I now have a tattoo that looks nothing like the original font or words that it is suppose to be… which is disappointing as this was suppose to be a good memory to have.I am sure this artist is great at bigger projects but for small delicate wording I could never recommend. I will now have to see my artist out here in Montreal to hopefully fix this mistake and make it look legible to what it was originally suppose to be.

I worked with Jae for my first ever tattoo. He was sincerely interested in making my idea come to life. His design was awesome and more importantly he was open to any feedback I had before we started. Throughout the entire process Jae made sure I was okay and offered many opportunities to get a breather should I need one. The studio is lively and clean, the art is amazing, and the artists are professional.

I have been going to Jae for many years. I have always had outstanding work done by him. This past Saturday, July 11th was my first time visiting his new shop in Fort Greene. His studio is clean, professional, and has a real laid back vibe. I had a head piece done to memorialize my dog Vader - he was so psyched to do it! Just want to start off by saying Jae Conner is an amazing person! He was very patient with me and made my idea into a tattoo that I absolutely love! The shop is clean, including equipment, very calming with some good music and cool decor. I highly recommend coming here for the best service and good prices.

Got two small tattoos here a couple years ago. The guy didnt take into consideration that the ink spreads over time. He used the same size tip for the design tattoo as he did for the word tattoo. Now that the ink has settled, the small design tattoo is cute but the word tattoo isnt legible unless you are up close. Should definitely have done better research before allowing them to mess up something so permanent.

Jae has done almost all of my tattoos. He does exceptional work. Ive been getting my tattoos done by him for over 13 years and he exceeds my expectations. I would recommend him to anyone looking to get anything done. Hes not only good at tattooing but hes the coolest tattoo artist youll ever meet. I would rate him higher than 5 stars if I could.

Stopped in on a whim. I lived in Fort Greene 15 years ago. Walking around during a recent trip to Brooklyn and I saw Electric Lotus, had to stop in. Got a quick flash tattoo, crisp as can be. I first met Jae when he was located in Boonton, NJ. When he moved to Brooklyn it never occurred to me to find a new artist. I only thought cool now I can get an amazing tattoo and hang out in Brooklyn. I always receive compliments on my pieces and you can see the difference between the one tattoo I have that was not done by Jae. When people ask me where they should get a tattoo I happily tell them Electric Lotus and offer them an escort to Brooklyn. Not only is Jae super talented he is professional and great guy. I had Jae revamp an old tattoo. He took what started as a nineteen-year-olds tag on the arm and turned it into a beautiful work of art. This amazingly talented brother completed my work without pain just minimal discomfort. I highly recommend Jae and his tattoo shop. Look no further if your want a clean shop, thats easy to get to with a creative artists with great chair side manners.Luckily for me Jae its in my neighborhood (because I will be returning) but he is well worth traveling to.

I was on a 5 day holiday in NY, ( visiting from Australia!).I contacted Jae with very short notice asking him if he could do 5 different tattoos for me. I met him at his shop and put down a deposit and he was able to accomodate me the very next day!He kept his shop open late just so he could tattoo me before i had to return home. Jae Connor is an amazing artist and a wonderful guy. I am delighted with my latest tattoo. The area where the studio is at is cool, safe, vibrant and the studio which is on the street ground level is great. It’s always fun getting a tattoo and chit chatting with Jae. His designs are so creative also and the selection of designs there is vast.

Walking into the electric Lotus, I didnt know much about the business other than what I found on Google. But Jae took me in, I told him what I wanted. I even left the store and came back and he had three different designs for me ready. He got it done within 15 minutes maybe even less. Good price and friendly service, will definitely be coming back for another tattoo.

One of my best friends and I spontaneously went to get matching tattoos on a Friday in February. She happened to pick Electric Lotus based off of the positive reviews online. Every step in this process, from calling them to the healing of the tattoo itself, was a great experience Id recommend to anyone.First of all, we picked a stereotypically basic girl design. Neither of the tattoo artists responded judgmentally (at any point during our interactions). This was nice in the moment, but even more impressive after seeing their portfolios online. The complex designs they are capable of would make me conclude small, fine line tattoos were beneath them. Nonetheless, they were nothing but professional the entire time.Secondly, since the timespan between idea to get a tattoo and getting our estimates was about 45 minutes, I started to get nervous when the stencil was placed on my ribs (should mention this was my first tattoo). However, Anthony made me feel extremely comfortable, explained the process before starting, helped me control my breath and it was honestly not that painful (again, Im a tattoo newbie, so take that with a grain of salt). Since sharing this story with a few other tattoo-ed friends Ive realized this narrative is more rare than I imagined. Many of my friends first-tattoo stories were sprinkled with scare tactics at the walk-in shops they frequented. So happy that didnt happen to us.Lastly - after getting tattooed - Ive watched a billion Inked YouTube videos. The main themes of these videos is that (1) tattoos are art and the investment is worth it and (2) do your research. In hindsight, I should have done a ton more research considering the possibility/reality that tattoos poorly done can heal terribly when the quality is not there. Thank God I lucked out on this shop, because my tattoo was barely itchy in the healing process, never scabbed, and the lines today look nice and clean. My parents always told me Tattoos are like chips, you cant just have one and after my experience at this shop I definitely believe that to be true.

Ive been going to see Jae at Electric Lotus for over 17 years. It all began when he had a shop in Boonton, NJ and now I travel to brooklyn because he does a hands down a great job everytime. Always fun to chat with, great artistic vision, the shop has a killer atmosphere with a collection of art and books from all over the world, and is always fair with pricing. I highly recommend. I was welcomed nicley, there were two people in front of me. I only went in for a consultation basically. But as soon as I was speaking with the host or so, it felt weird. I was asked why I wanted to get a cover up. In my mind Im like hmm but anyway I wanted my tatt covered up just because. Normally you dont get asked that, well the places Ive been never asked. Anyway not a big deal but I can tell that the host was a little bothered just by my presence being of black African American. I always look at peoples face expressions and posture when socializing with them. The vibe felt off. But I still left with a smile and thank you after being quoted a ridiculously high price for a tatt that is not that big.

So not happy with the tattoo that I received at this place. From the very beginning the letters at the end of the tattoo looks like a ink blob. Theyre not defined at all. Now a couple of years later it looks even worse. I will never get a tattoo from this place ever again.

An amazing place and friendly people. Jae did a tree tattoo for me and I went back 3 more times to build around it. I referred a friend who was in town for a while and she has been so happy with her tattoo. I’ve received many compliments on my tattoos and will refer anyone to Electric Lotus.
